On October 13, 2009, we learned that Maine republican Olympia Snowe stated she would vote yes for the Baucus version of a health care bill. Will the Blue Dog Democrats support a government option if one is embedded?

It does not matter!!!

A frustrated commenter on this blog, after learning of Senator Snowe’s decision, asked what next.

This was my response:

“The answer to our problems is quite simple.
I always go back to the war analogy (which this clearly is a war for our minds and souls).
The Obama camp won a major battle when he stole the election.
They have won a few minor battles and skirmishes since.
However, they have already lost some major battles.
Hopefully this will be clarified in the article.”

Here is some food for thought as you comment on the Citizen Wells open thread for October 14, 2009.

What organization allowed Obama to steal the presidency, ACORN funding, a flawed stimulus bill, Nancy Pelosi gaining power, Harry reid gaining power, mortgage crisis, out of control spending, decline of the US Dollar and a host of other maladies and outrages?

Answer

US Congress.

What organization will have most of it’s members up for reelection next year?

Answer

US Congress.

What organization can remove a usurper president?

Answer

US Congress.

What organization can repeal bad legislation such as a government run health care plan?

Answer

US Congress.

What organization are we going to drastically change next year?

Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe joined Democrats to vote yes on the healthcare reform bill”

“After two weeks of debate and a closely watched examination by the Congressional Budget Office , Sen. Max Baucus’s healthcare bill has, for now, proved resilient. On Tuesday, after several final hours of debate, Baucus’s Senate Finance Committee approved the bill by a 14-9 vote, as Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe, a moderate Republican, joined the committee’s 13 Democrats in voting yes.”

Senator Olympia Snowe,  a Maine Republican, has indicated she will vote yes for the  Baucus health care bill. This was just announced a few minutes ago, today, Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

“Sen. Olympia Snowe announced Tuesday that she will vote for health care reform legislation before the Senate Finance Committee, becoming the only Republican to back the bill and virtually assuring passage.

Ahead of a key vote for health care reform, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee said Tuesday that he’s still concerned about the potential for more government control over health care. 

Sen. Charles Grassley’s comments, and those of other Republicans, aired the lingering partisan divisions on the panel, even as Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., stressed that his bill is a “balanced plan” that should win bipartisan support and eventually pass the full Senate. 

“With this markup nearing its conclusion, we can now see clearly that the bill continues its march leftward,” Grassley, R-Iowa, said. 

But Baucus urged his colleagues to “make history” by sending his comprehensive overhaul to the floor of the Senate and one big step closer to the president’s desk. 

“Now it’s time to get the job done,” chairman Baucus, D-Mont., said. “My colleagues, this is our opportunity to make history.” ”

“Key senators were still on the fence over the pivotal health care reform bill going into deliberations, even though leadership aides say they’re confident the package will win enough backers. 

With 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans on the committee, Baucus can only afford to lose one Democrat if Republicans vote as a bloc against his bill. 

Among the undecided were Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., who wants more choice in the bill and wants all Americans to be able to enter the national exchange for insurance plans set up under the bill — plus he wants subsidies increased and penalties decreased. 

Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, is considered the only possible Republican vote — though she is still undecided. She was one of the three Republicans who participated for months in the “Gang of Six” talks with Baucus and two other committee Democrats. 

Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., is concerned about the cost of the 10-year, $829-billion plan and has voted many times with Republicans to reduce taxes and penalties. She is a moderate Democrat in a red state staring at a potential conservative primary challenger. 

Previously undecided, she announced her support for the bill Tuesday afternoon, but said that was no guarantee she would support the final product. 

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., was previously undecided for different reasons. The liberal member wants nothing short of a government-run insurance plan in the bill, and he thinks the Finance Committee’s “co-op” system is not sufficient. He also wants subsidies increased for low- and middle-income Americans. He now says he knows how he’ll vote, but did not give details. ”

Yesterday, October 12, 2009, was full of thought provoking and scary news items. Glenn Beck on Fox News did a superb job of exposing the Obama camp for treating Fox News, and in essence the American public, as the enemy. Beck also revealed who loses and who benefits from government run healthcare. His use of charts and simple explanations was reminiscent of Ross Perot and his techniques should be used by more politicians. Except for maybe one thing. Most politicians do not want to reveal the facts. Beck also has continued to warn of the decline in value of the US Dollar and has provided ideas to safeguard our assets.

Yesterday we learned that a six year old boy, a youngster who was proud of being in the cub scouts, was expelled from school for bringing his new cub scout knife to school. The young boy now faces the possibility of 45 days in a reform school.

What a bunch of idiots!

Barack Obama has lied and thugged his way into the White House and the six year old boy is expelled!

We also brought you a story about an ACORN worker who was convicted of voter fraud in Ohio.

This is an open thread for October 13, 2009. We are still waiting to find out what is going to happen to Nashville attorney Leo Haffey who was arrested on suspicious affidavits, denied bond in a hearing by presiding judge Gloria Dumas, who received a lengthy formal complaint from the TN Judiciary for illegal and unprofessional behaviour a few days later. Is Leo Haffey a political prisoner?

I recently delved into my archives regarding voter fraud in NC and found a really interesting document. I hope to reveal it to you soon.

I hope to share with you my plans to galvanize the public leading up to the 2010 elections. Please share this thought with bloggers that you trust and respect. We must gel as a cohesive group.

I have a collection of facts and thoughts on health care reform I have worked on. I hope to share that soon.

And speaking of Captain Connie Rhodes, her commanding officers and judge Land, I have not forgotten you either.

FREE LEO THE ATTORNEY FROM JAIL

 

This is the second day of our open thread. I am pleased that so many commented and at the same time cared enough to comment and take action to help attorney Leo Haffey to get a fair hearing and justice.

Many are following Orly Taitz, Philip Berg, Mario Apuzzo  and others who are trying to hold the nation accountable to the US Constitution and the rule of law. That is a good thing. We must never stop doing so. We must also continue to let congressmen know we are out there and watching them. Actually, not just watching them but scrutinizing them in detail. We will reward those that perform as statesmen and serve their country faithfully and punish those complacent with the status quo and disregard for the public.

I encountered my first person diagnosed with H1N1 Swine flu today. A female high school student.

I have been thinking about this for some time. We get a lot of comments on this blog. I thank you very much for your efforts and concern about this country. I have stated many times that I could not make this blog effective without the support of so many patriotic Americans.

I have tried to research and write about the major concerns of most Americans and cover the stories that the Main Stream Media has ignored or covered up. This has been a huge challenge that only could have happened with your help.

This article is the first in what I anticipate will be a regular if not daily effort to provide the commenters on this blog with a forum to read and report on issues that you find most relevant. This is a first step to make us more interactive and your input more relevant. We have been discussing some more ideas that will probably be implemented soon. Please be patient with me and at the same time persistent in those ideas that you believe will make us more effective.

I will continue to post articles that I believe are important and will certainly use your input as one of my guides. Please comment on any of the postings that you desire. My hope is that even if you are compelled to comment on the Open Thread, that you will also provide your input on the articles that I write or are provided by others.

Once again, thanks for all of your efforts.

I do want to make the following crystal clear:

“To Nashville and Tennessee courts and politicians and the Obama camp. We are watching you. If there is the hint of inpropriety in regard to justice and the treatment of attorney Leo Haffey, we will find out, report this to the entire world and descend upon you with righteous indignation and legal recourse such as you could not imagine in your wildest dreams. Clear?”

Update, Friday, October 9, 2009 11:00 AM ET:

 

Now, with what I know about the charges that were filed against attorney Leo Haffey, the harrassment of and pressure placed on the Haffey family, the formal charges recently filed against Haffey’s hearing judge, Gloria Dumas by the TN Judiciary Committee, the suspicious affidavits that were filed against Haffey and other details, I am outraged.

I contacted the Nashville District Attorney’s office several days ago and contacted the recipient of a request for investigation. She could not talk to me. Her boss has not returned the call.

Yesterday, Thursday, October 8, 2009, I spoke to the office of Joseph S. Daniel of the  Disciplinary Counsel for the Tennessee Court of the Judiciary, and left a message for him to call me. As of 11:00 AM ET, today, Friday, October 9, 2009, I have received no call.

It is clear that Leo Haffey did not receive a fair hearing. Allowing the recusal of Judge Gloria Dumas is not enough. At the very least, Leo Haffey should immediately receive a new hearing and be released on bond.

Three very suspicious affidavits and a judge investigated for illegal activities and unprofessional behaviour.
“This whole matter has smelled badly from the beginning and now smells even more. I am presenting below some documents and information on this case that will help clarify it.

Three affidavits below echo what I was initially told, that the incidents involved neighbors and that no one was hurt. It never made sense that Leo Haffey was held on no bond under these circumstances. It makes less sense now unless the judge who was apparently recused was indeed biased, politically motivated or very misinformed. I do know that Leo Haffey was evaluated soon after his arrrest and found to be no harm to himself. He also is being held in a minimum security facility.”

Following a full investigation authorized under the provisions of Tennessee Code Annotated 9 17-5-304(b)(3), the three judge investigative panel composed of the Honorable Pamela Reeves, the Honorable Jean A. Stanley, and the Honorable Dwight E. Stokes found, pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated 5 17-5-304(d)(2)(A), that there is reasonable cause to believe that the Honorable Gloria Dumas has committed judicial offenses alleged herein in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated 5 17-5-302, and directed disciplinary counsel to file formal charges pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated § 17 -5-304(d)(2) (A).”

We are not trying to prejudge the trial of Leo Haffey. We are not presuming guilt or innocence. What we are asking for is justice.

Attorney Leo Haffey deserves a fair hearing and release on bond.

***  UPDATE – October 9, 2009  3:45 PM ET ***

Over the past hour I have had 2 conversations with TN judicial and prosecutors offices.

3:04 PM – Mr. Joseph S. Daniels returned my call from this morning. I discussed the formal complaint against Judge Gloria Dumas and asked if there was any procedure to protect defendants who are affected by her recent rulings. There is none. I explained my reason for calling and asked if he was familiar with the Leo Haffey case. He was not. He suggested that a complaint form be filled out. I would like to thank Mr. Daniels for returning my call.

3:25 PM – I received a call back from the Nashville District Attorney’s office, press liason. I mentioned the formal complaint lodged against Judge Dumas. She was not aware of it. They, of course, cannot discuss the details of pending cases. I expressed my deep concern that Leo Haffey did not receive a fair hearing from this apparently biased judge. I also referred to the suspicious affidavits that were filed and the request for an investigation that was sent to the DA’s office. The lady I spoke to was friendly and indicated she also wants justice to be served. I urged her to read the formal complaint lodged against Judge Dumas. I would like to thank the DA’s office for returning my call.

Citizen Wells comment – I do not know how other jurisdictions handle such situations, but I think this is a sad state of affairs when the public is not more protected by judicial misconduct.

“In the most profound financial change in recent Middle East history, Gulf Arabs are planning – along with China, Russia, Japan and France – to end dollar dealings for oil, moving instead to a basket of currencies including the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan, the euro, gold and a new, unified currency planned for nations in the Gulf Co-operation Council, including Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Qatar.

 Secret meetings have already been held by finance ministers and central bank governors in Russia, China, Japan and Brazil to work on the scheme, which will mean that oil will no longer be priced in dollars.

The plans, confirmed to The Independent by both Gulf Arab and Chinese banking sources in Hong Kong, may help to explain the sudden rise in gold prices, but it also augurs an extraordinary transition from dollar markets within nine years.”

“The decline of American economic power linked to the current global recession was implicitly acknowledged by the World Bank president Robert Zoellick. “One of the legacies of this crisis may be a recognition of changed economic power relations,” he said in Istanbul ahead of meetings this week of the IMF and World Bank. But it is China’s extraordinary new financial power – along with past anger among oil-producing and oil-consuming nations at America’s power to interfere in the international financial system – which has prompted the latest discussions involving the Gulf states.

Brazil has shown interest in collaborating in non-dollar oil payments, along with India. Indeed, China appears to be the most enthusiastic of all the financial powers involved, not least because of its enormous trade with the Middle East.

China imports 60 per cent of its oil, much of it from the Middle East and Russia. The Chinese have oil production concessions in Iraq – blocked by the US until this year – and since 2008 have held an $8bn agreement with Iran to develop refining capacity and gas resources. China has oil deals in Sudan (where it has substituted for US interests) and has been negotiating for oil concessions with Libya, where all such contracts are joint ventures.”

Under review today will be two items of critical concern. Defendant Obama’s 9/4/09 Motion to Dismiss is to receive final ruling to either allow or be thrown out. Once the MTD is thrown out, a ruling for full Discovery is anticipated from Justice Carter.

The Federal Marshalls have set up an auxiliary viewing room near the courtroom, live video feed will be shown in that room for any overflow crowd. Our reporter is assured of receiving a seat in the actual courtroom, and given the historical significance of this hearing, chooses to be in the main courtroom, thereby giving him access to off camera events and reactions.

8:36 am Pst- The audience has been seated, hopefully the hearing will only be 30 minutes to an hour and we should hear the findings. If the hearing lasts longer, a mid morning recess at the 2 hour mark usually takes place. (10:30 Pst) and that will be an opportunity for Gary to phone in.

10:26 am Pst Not hearing from Gary is a good sign, after approximately 2 hours into the hearing. If as some have speculated the case was thrown out, it would not take 2 hours to rule in favor of Defendant Obama’s motion to dismiss, more like 15 minutes and Gary would have phoned that in long ago. Hang in there people.

11:43 am Pst The ruling- Motion to Dismiss will undergo further review by Justice Carter. No order for discovery.

11:50 am Pst Gary reported the court is in recess and finished for the day. Intially Justice Carter was leaning to dismiss the case and accept Defendant’s MTD, however Orly Taitz and Gary Creeps made a very impassioned arguement and the gallery burst into applause, the Marshalls did not stop the outburst, and it was felt Justice Carter was swayed by the outburst to not throw out the MTD but rather reconsider his decision.

He advised both parties no matter his ruling, both would be able to appeal to a higher court.

“Key Senate Committee Votes Against Government-Run Health Insurance Plan”

“The Senate Finance Committee has voted against creating a new government health insurance plan to compete with the private market.

The 15-to-8 vote could forecast the fate of the public option in the Senate as a whole. The outcome was expected but still a defeat for liberals who view government-sponsored insurance for the middle class as a key component of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.

Five committee Democrats, including Chairman Max Baucus, joined with all 10 committee Republicans to defeat the measure by Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia.

Opponents said a public option would drive private insurers out of business and amount to a government takeover. Proponents said it would give consumers choice and competition.”

“Democrats remain divided on the need to create a government plan — and Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) is already in the hot seat — accused of being lukewarm, if not downright hostile, to the public option.

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-ND, who has crafted an alternative plan that would set up a series of non-profit health care cooperatives, blasted Rockefeller’s plan, saying, “The devil is in the details.”  Conrad said if the amendment is implemented, “every major hospital goes broke.” 

“I can’t possibly support any amendment that does that,” he said. 

Congressional aides on both sides of the issue say that the public option amendments are not expected to pass out of the Finance Committee. Schumer has called the committee debate a beginning of “a conversation about the public option,” saying, “It gets people thinking.”

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-NM, said he could support a public option, but he disagrees with Rockefeller’s approach. “I think there is a problem with providing Medicare reimbursement rates,” Bingaman said, echoing the concerns of Conrad. 

As senators continue to spar over the public option, two liberal groups are launching a hard-hitting television and Internet ad featuring a young father from Montana. Bing Perrine, 26, who needs a heart operation and is uninsured and deeply in debt, looks straight into the camera and asks Baucus: “Whose side are you on?”

The ad is sponsored by Democracy for America and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which say Baucus is too cozy with insurance and health care interests that have contributed to his campaigns and oppose a government plan.”
