Following a series of better than expected GDP-feeding prints, consensus had expected Q4 GDP to tick higher in the first revision released today, rising from 1.9% to 2.1%. However, that did not happen and instead, the revised print came in unchanged at 1.9%. Notable underlying revisions include: an upward revision in consumer spending, both in services and goods; a downward revision to business investment, mostly in intellectual property products and equipment; and a downward revision to state and local government spending, primarily in structures.”

Remember when the Supreme Court decided that Obamcare is legal but it’s a tax? Well, the nuances were irrelevant, but when it comes to the Bureau of Economic Analysis they could not have been greater: by effectively counting a tax as part of US economic growth, Obama, the Supreme Court and the US government’s beancounters assured themselves of a steady stream of “economic growth” for quarters to come, and sure enough, Q1 was no different.

As regular readers know, when it comes to the one constant source of US economic growth, nothing is more reliable than Healthcare, which is merely another name for how Obamacare figured in the bean-count reports. And, we are confident, it will come as no surprise that in Q1, when real GDP grew by $44 billion in real terms, or 1.1% annualized, from $16.471 trillion to $16.515 trillion, Healthcare was responsible for $26 billion (rising from $1,896 billion to $1,929 billion annualized) or a whopping 58.4% of the total.”

“Fast forward 6 years, when a report by Harvard and Princeton economists Lawrence Katz and Alan Krueger, confirms exactly what we warned. In their study, the duo show that from 2005 to 2015, the proportion of Americans workers engaged in what they refer to as “alternative work” soared during the Obama era, from 10.7% in 2005 to 15.8% in 2015. Alternative, or “gig” work is defined as “temporary help agency workers, on-call workers, contract company workers, independent contractors or freelancers”, and is generally unsteady, without a fixed paycheck and with virtually no benefits.

The two economists also found that each of the common types of alternative work increased from 2005 to 2015—with the largest changes in the number of independent contractors and workers provided by contract firms, such as janitors that work full-time at a particular office, but are paid by a janitorial services firm.

Krueger, who until 2013 was also the top White House economist serving as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under Obama, was “surprised” by the finding.

Quoted by quartz, he said “We find that 94% of net job growth in the past decade was in the alternative work category,” said Krueger. “And over 60% was due to the [the rise] of independent contractors, freelancers and contract company workers.” In other words, nearly all of the 10 million jobs created between 2005 and 2015 were not traditional nine-to-five employment.”

“More than 200 people are closer to having ID cards Friday night. The cards are not government issued, but some local law enforcement agencies support giving them out. This is happening even in time when the Trump administration is talking tough about any help for people who are in the country illegally.

FaithAction is a group that supports immigrants, legal or illegal, and it has the support of law enforcement agencies like Greensboro police.

“When someone gets pulled over the first thing police asked for is identification and if they’re not able to provide that, they could potentially take that person to jail,” said David Fraccaro, the executive director of FaithAction. “That would mean taking our law-enforcement off the street and into a magistrate’s office for hours, when we have bigger fish to fry.”

Greensboro police say the IDs have worked well in the three years since FaithAction started this. To get the cards people must pay $10, go to an orientation, provide a different form of ID, like a passport, and have proof of their address.

Tough talk on immigration from the Trump administration has them organization wondering about the ID card program’s future.

“Don’t feel positive about the executive orders but we are feeling positive about the tremendous support from local law enforcement, who want the same thing we do… a safer and inclusive more united community,” Fraccaro said.

The Greensboro Police Department says it will continue to accept the IDs because its goal is to create a safer community and the IDs help.”

(a) The following documents are not acceptable for use in determining a person’s actual identity or residency by a justice, judge, clerk, magistrate, law enforcement officer, or other government official:
 (1) A matricula consular or other similar document, other than a valid passport, issued by a consulate or embassy of another country.
(2) An identity document issued or created by any person, organization, county, city, or other local authority, except where expressly authorized to be used for this purpose by the General Assembly.
(b) No local government or law enforcement agency may establish, by policy or ordinance, the acceptability of any of the documents described in subsection (a) of this section as a form of identification to be used to determine the identity or residency of any person. Any local government policy or ordinance that contradicts this section is hereby repealed.”
This was widely reported.
However, the statute reads:

Where did (c) come from?
The only reference to it that I found was from the Elon News Network.

A new bill HB100 is currently before the legislature.

c has been stricken through for removal.
There is also much added about municipal accountability.
And BTW, not only is the City of Greensboro violating the law, they are contributing money to Faith Action.

Donald Trump is setting up a voter fraud commission headed by Vice President Mike Pence.

Trump: Well, I think it’s ridiculous. Sanctuary cities, as you know, I’m very much opposed to sanctuary cities. They breed crime, there’s a lot of problems. If we have to, we’ll defund. We give tremendous amounts of money to California — California in many ways is out of control, as you know. Obviously the voters agree, otherwise they wouldn’t have voted for me.

O’Reilly: So defunding is your weapon of choice?

Trump: Well it’s a weapon. I don’t want to defund a state, a city.

O’Reilly: But you’re willing to do it?

Trump: I don’t want to defund anyone. I want to give them the money they need to properly operate as a city or state. If they’re going to have sanctuary cities, we may have to do that. Certainly that would be a weapon.

O’Reilly: Is there any validity to the criticism of you that you say things you can’t back up factually, and as the president, if you say, for example, that there are 3 million illegal aliens who voted and then you don’t have the data to back it up, some people are gonna say that it’s irresponsible for a president to say that. Is there any validity to that?

Trump: Many people have come out and said I’m right. You know that.

O’Reilly: I know, but you’ve gotta have data to back that up.

Trump: Let me just tell you. And it doesn’t have to do with the vote, although that’s the end result. It has to do with the registration. And when you look at the registration and you see dead people that have voted, when you see people that are registered in two states that voted in two states, when you see other things, when you see illegals, people that are not citizens, and they’re on the registration rolls. Look, Bill, we can be babies, but you take a look at the registration, you have illegals, you have dead people, you have this. It’s really a bad situation. It’s really bad.

O’Reilly: So you think you’re gonna be proven correct in that statement?

Trump: Well, I think I already have. A lot of people have come out and said that I am correct.

O’Reilly: But the data has to show that 3 million illegals voted.

Trump: Forget that. Forget all of that. Just take a look at the registration, and we’re gonna do it, and I’m gonna set up a commission, to be headed by Vice President Mike Pence, and we’re gonna look at it very, very carefully.”

Tony Rezko and Obama were close.

Rezko was from Syria.

Rezko stated that he would not rat on his buddy Obama.

“”They are pressuring me to tell them the ‘wrong’ things that I supposedly know about Governor Blagojevich and Senator Obama,” the fundraiser (and Obama’s personal real estate fairy) wrote in a letter to U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve.

“I have never been a party to any wrongdoing that involved the Governor or the Senator,” Rezko argued. “I will never fabricate lies about anyone else for selfish purposes. I will take whatever comes my way, but I will never hurt innocent people.”

Amen, Tony. But those who say nothing don’t brag. They shut up.

Yet those who promise to say nothing, and promise it loudly, often have much to say later, in a calm and rational voice, meekly from the witness box.

I’ve seen a few lately, a convicted Outfit hit man who killed at least a dozen people and testified against Chicago mob bosses, and, in an unrelated case, a convicted political apparatchik of the GOP who talked like Joe Pesci in the movies until he broke, blubbered and helped put former Gov. George Ryan in prison.

They all want the same thing — to make sure their loved ones are well cared for on the outside. It could be that Rezko, who mentioned his sons in the letter, cares more about them and his wife, Rita, than he does about his political buddies. Hence, the implied threat to the senator and the governor. That could be a problem for both Obama and Blagojevich, but mostly, I think, for Blagojevich, if Rezko — convicted of more than a dozen corruption counts — begins to squeak.

Democrat Obama — whose campaign reiterated he’s never done wrong with Rezko — is on the verge of assuming the presidency, about to defeat a Republican Party that has forgotten what it believes. Republicans were blinded and seduced by crooked GOP lobbyists like Jack Abramoff and overspent on Illinois Republican boss-hog-style deals. There was a national conservative silence when phrases such as “big government conservatism” were bandied about without ridicule. So the road was paved for Obama.

Obama’s supporters don’t know exactly what Obama believes in, but they seem not to care. He’s on the way up and out of the wetlands of Chicago politics, reborn unto his national and mythic reform narrative, discovered by joyous national media and embraced, much as the iconic child was discovered and embraced when found in the reed basket floating on the River Potomac.

Obama doesn’t need to remind the national media that he walked the Chicago Way, that his feet actually touched the soiled political ground. Rezko’s recent conviction and the letter are such reminders.”

“Obama administration, Australia’s deal called for ‘special interest’ refugees

Despite President Donald Trump calling it “the worst deal ever,” the United States has reportedly agreed to keep a promise by the Obama administration to resettle nearly 1,200 asylum seekers being held on  Pacific island camps.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that during a weekend call, Trump had agreed to honor the agreement made by the Obama administration to resettle refugees.

Recent reports have suggested the conversation  between Trump and Turnbull was a fiery one.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer confirmed on Wednesday that Trump had agreed to honor the deal. But a White House statement sent to Australian Broadcasting Corp. on Thursday said, “The president is still considering whether or not he will move forward with this deal at this time.””

“Australia refused to accept the refugees and instead pays for them to be housed on the nations of Nauru and Papua New Guinea.

The State Department classified details on refugees to be resettled in America via a secret deal made with Australia. The New York Times has called the deal a “one-time agreement.”

“This is a backroom deal, wheeling and dealing with another country’s refugee problem,” Center for Immigration Studies fellow Don Barnett told FoxNews.com late last year. “I don’t believe for a moment it’s a one-time deal. That’s for public consumption.”

Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry, key lawmakers Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va. complained about the lack of candor in a letter written to the Department of Homeland Security.

“This situation is concerning for many reasons,” the letter stated, adding, “Your departments negotiated an international agreement regarding refugees without consulting or notifying Congress.””
