I was preparing an article on the impact of Obamacare on consumer spending.
Before beginning to write the article, the material expanded so much as to require a multi part series.
So many lies, so little time to expose.
Living in NC, and as sick of the non stop political ads as anyone, I still find my jaw dropping every time I hear the Hagan ad accuse Tillis of Medicare cuts.
Kay Hagan helped Obama pass Obamacare.
Money that had previously gone to Medicare Advantage Plans has been redirected to Obamacare.

“One of the most troubling aspects of President Obama’s takeover of health care is the more than $200 billion in cuts that Obamacare is taking from the Medicare Advantage (MA) program – a program that over 15 million seniors and individuals with disabilities have chosen to enroll in across the United States. As of January 2014, Ohio had over 763,797 enrollees in the MA program and roughly 38,766 of those enrollees reside in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio. This administration must stop these cuts to the MA program from happening if they want to protect the well-being of seniors across the country.
Last year, Medicare Advantage beneficiaries learned of a 6.7 percent rate cut that would hit their health care plans in 2014. These cuts are already being felt by seniors as access to doctors becomes more limited, and out-of-pocket payments increase. I recently experienced firsthand what these cuts mean for those living in Ohio when a number of local physicians had their practices dropped from participation in MA plans, forcing seniors to switch plans or leave their long-term physicians.
Doctors throughout my district have expressed their deep concerns over the serious impact these cuts will have on their practices, and their patients. Seniors in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio are losing access to their doctors and seeing an increase in their premiums. Some patients are being forced to leave their doctors mid-treatment. This is unacceptable, especially when 9 out of 10 beneficiaries believe their MA plan helps them live a healthier life.”
“And yet, this month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is planning to issue a second MA rate cut for 2015, slashing an additional 6.5 percent from these senior plans. In addition to this, seniors enrolled in MA could see between $420 and $900 in benefit reductions next year. Those seniors, who have not yet experienced the disruptions of the first cut, are sure to with the second – MA plans will soon face a total rate cut of 13 percent.”
You may recall Heritage experts’ warning that Obamacare would cut $716 billion from Medicare. That’s still happening.
Despite the Obama administration’s recent walking back of Medicare Advantage cuts for this year, Obamacare’s planned cuts to Medicare are moving forward. This chart shows which parts of Medicare are affected.”
“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will drop its Blue Medicare HMO standard and Blue Medicare HMO Enhanced plan products in 11 North Carolina counties in 2015, affecting 50,000 beneficiaries statewide.
The counties include: Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth, Iredell, Rowan, Stokes, Surry, Wake, Wilkes and Yadkin, which makes up about one-third of BCBSNC’s Medicare Advantage population, said Michelle Douglas, public relations manager for BCBSNC.
Under HMO plans, beneficiaries generally must get care from within the plan’s network as opposed to PPO plans, which contracts with a network of preferred providers to which the beneficiary can choose.
Mary Snider, a BCBSNC customer who lives in Davidson County, said she received a letter this week that said her Blue Medicare HMO enhanced coverage would no longer be available.
According to the letter, if Snider does not take action before Dec. 31 on selecting a new plan, she will lose prescription drug coverage and only have Original Medicare beginning Jan. 1.
“This is a shock to everybody,” Snider said. “We wish they still offered (the old plans.)”
Snider said her monthly premium for Blue Medicare HMO Enhanced was $18.90 per month, which is confirmed by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data.
The BCBSNC letter does not outline the new plan offerings or specifics because they are not made public until Oct. 1.
However, according to CMS data that shows approved plan premiums for 2015, the only available HMO plan with drug coverage from BCBSNC in Davidson County is set to increase by just over three times Snider’s current premium, to $63.50 per month.
“There are some people out here who choose between health care and food,” she said about potential price increases. “If you’re caught in the middle, there’s nothing you can do.””

“The Affordable Care Act was supposed to make health care more affordable, but a newly released study of insurance policies before and after Obamacare shows that average premiums have skyrocketed, for some groups by as much as 78 percent.
Average insurance premiums in the sought-after 23-year-old demographic rose most dramatically, with men in that age group seeing an average 78.2 percent price increase before factoring in government subsidies, and women having their premiums rise 44.9 percent, according to a report by HealthPocket scheduled for release Wednesday.
The study, which was shared Tuesday with The Washington Times, examined average health insurance premiums before the implementation of Obamacare in 2013 and then afterward in 2014. The research focused on people of three ages — 23, 30 and 63 — using data for nonsmoking men and women with no spouses or children.
The premium increases for 30-year-olds were almost as high as for 23-year-olds — 73.4 percent for men and 35.1 percent for women — said the study, titled “Without Subsidies Women & Men, Old & Young Average Higher Monthly Premiums with Obamacare.”
“It’s very eye-opening in terms of the transformation occurring within the individual health insurance market,” said Kev Coleman, head of research and data at HealthPocket, a nonpartisan, independently managed subsidiary of Health Insurance Innovations in Sunnyvale, California.
“I was surprised in general to see the differences in terms of the average premiums in the pre-reform and post-reform markets,” Mr. Coleman said. “It was a higher amount than I had anticipated.”
The eye-popping increases among younger insurance buyers could be a problem for Obamacare’s long-term solvency given that young people are needed to offset the higher costs associated with older policyholders.”

“In reaction to news that the killer of two Sacramento, California, sheriff’s deputies is an illegal alien who had been deported twice, Fox News Channel invited Arizona’s controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio to appear on “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on Monday afternoon. Arpaio, the veteran sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, that’s considered one of most active in the nation, reported that the prime suspect in the killing of two cops is not only an illegal aliens whom he jailed twice and twice turned him over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE), but that the suspect has used several identities.

When first arrested, California authorities said the suspect’s name was Marcello Marquez. After fingerprinting and other processing it was discovered that the killer’s real name is Luis Bracamonte, who was supposedly deported two times by ICE, according to a breaking story in the Examiner..
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Sheriff Arpaio is familiar with Bracamonte having arrested him in the past. “[T]he controversy surrounding an illegal alien who has been charged with killing two California sheriff’s deputies and wounding another has taken on fresh urgency as Sheriff Joe Arpaio [revealed] the details of his prior four arrests by Maricopa County local law enforcement” said a department spokesman.
Sheriff Arpaio during his FNC appearance told news anchor Neil Cavuto that the “history surrounding this one illegal alien exposes the inherent dishonesty and ineptitude surrounding the federal government approach to illegal immigration.””
““I am calling for a congressional hearing,” Arpaio said, “to find out why illegal aliens arrested by my deputies and other police officers for often serious crimes are handed over to ICE, only to end up back in my jail, arrested again on more charges. Nor were these necessarily minor crimes, but encompass the full range of criminal offenses, including kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, child molestation, sexual abuse, conspiracy, dangerous drugs, and more.””
“Girl paralyzed after complications with Enterovirus D68”
“A Piqua girl is continuing to battle complications that stem from catching Enterovirus D68.
Madison Grigsby, 8, was like any other happy and healthy child up until September 22. That is the day her mother said changed her life forever.
“She was home when she collapsed,” said Erin Carey, Madison’s mother. “She was actually getting ready to get in the shower.”
The young girl was taken to Dayton Children’s where she was diagnosed with EV-D68.
But as her body was fighting the disease, another illness started attacking her spinal cord. It has left Madison paralyzed in her legs and feet.
“Basically, what it did to her body was it attacked her body to the point where her body couldn’t fight it off anymore which caused her to have transverse myelitis from it,” said Carey.
Madison was relocated to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she is undergoing rehab for transverse myelitis.”

The administration of Rod Blagojevich came under FBI scrutiny beginning in late 2003.
Yet, with all the harm Blagojevich et al were doing to the citizens of Illinois, he was not arrested until just after the 2008 election.
His arrest and the timing of his prosecution were clearly coordinated to have the least impact on Barack Obama.
That protection of Obama continues.
The 2010 election cycle has passed.
The 2012 election cycle has passed.
The 2014 election cycle is about to pass.
We have 6 sessions of the US Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit left before the November 4, 2014 elections.
If the decision comes before the election, I predict that Blagojevich will get a reduced sentence.
If not, it is entirely possible that Obama will pardon Blagojevich.
I believe that they have a deal.

The Rod Blagojevich appeal hearing is scheduled for today, Friday the 13th of December, 2013, in the US Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit.
This is part of a 10 year saga of investigations, prosecutions and perpetual delays.
Blagojevich, who was the presumptive presidential candidate, not Obama, in early 2006, should have been prosecuted before Tony Rezko, with stronger ties with Obama, and most definitely before the 2008 election.
Remember, the Blagojevich Administration was being investigated by the feds at least by late 2003 when the chicanery of Obama buddies Tony Rezko and Stuart Levine was being monitored by wiretap.
Attorney Len Goodman has made some strong arguments for a retrial or new sentencing hearing. Do not be surprised at the outcome.
I personally believe that the fix was in by 2006 and this is why Blagojevich was arrested after the 2008 election.

Colin Powell, who has continued to endorse Barack Obama, knew that Scooter Libby and Karl Rove were innocent in the Valerie Plame leak. Yet Powell did not share his knowledge with the Bush Administration and thus allowed Patrick Fitzgerald to continue to investigate and prosecute Libby and Rove.
Why did Colin Powell allow Patrick Fitzgerald to be pulled away from the Blagojevich prosecution?
“FOX Chicago News has learned that Rod Blagojevich’s appeal is still having trouble getting off the ground, because of delays in producing transcripts from his two trials.
For the second time in the last four months, Lauren Kaeseberg, one of the attorney’s handling Rod Blagojevich’s appeal, has been threatened with disciplinary action because she still hasn’t provided a complete copy of the Blagojevichtrial transcripts to the appellate court.
The appellate court won’t set a briefing schedule to get the appeal moving until the transcripts are available.
As FOX Chicago reported exclusively in August, the court reporter responsible for producing the 16,000 pages of transcripts took a leave of absence for five and a half months after Blagojevich was convicted. So, the appellate court agreed to wait until September 28th for the transcripts.
But, now in October, they’re still not completed. On Monday, the court issued an order, warning Kaeseberg again that she could face monetary or disciplinary sanctions. She responded Tuesday with an explanation, saying transcripts are still missing because they were under seal, or were handled by a different court reporter and she hopes to have them soon.”

Now that the longtime Democrat presence in NC government has been eradicated and a new NC voter ID law has been passed, perhaps we can come closer to insuring that our elections are fair.

“The State Board of Elections will not be able to verify before the early-voting period begins today whether all of the nearly 10,000 names that it has flagged as belonging to possible ineligible voters are in fact ineligible, according to interviews with elections and transportation officials.
Elections officials estimate that most are likely eligible to vote, but the uncertainty has led some state lawmakers to question why the verification process is happening now.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported Wednesday that, according to the SBOE, a specific search of those 10,000 names on the state’s voter rolls turned up 145 that belong to immigrants in the U.S. under the federal program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, which provides qualified applicants with a two-year reprieve from deportation.
The number has been pared down to 119 after more research, said Josh Lawson, a spokesman for the SBOE.”
“The SBOE is in the process of sending letters to the 119 DACA license holders seeking proof of citizenship, said SBOE spokesman Josh Lawson. Separately, Lawson said that the SBOE is also working to verify all of the nearly 10,000 names. The Journal has asked to receive that information when it becomes available.
The DMV sends data to the SBOE on a regular basis, Charbonneau said.
That data includes license holders who are tagged as “legally present,” which includes anyone who was not a U.S. citizen when he or she got a license.
The DMV has been “assisting” the SBOE on verifying the names at this time — as the early-voting period begins — because the SBOE requested the assistance on Monday, according to Charbonneau.
Apart from the DACA license holders, the names on the list of nearly 10,000 belong to license holders who were not U.S. citizens when they got a license. They may have been green-card holders, foreign workers or foreign students, for example. Most have become U.S. citizens since getting a license, according to an estimate by elections officials based on a sample of the overall list.
Earlier this month, State Board of Elections officials sampled about 1,600 of the 10,000 names, Lawson said. They cross-checked the names against a U.S. Department of Homeland Security database, known as SAVE, and found that 94 percent of those 1,600 are in fact U.S. citizens, Lawson said.”

“Raleigh, N.C. – House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Mecklenburg) and Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) issued a joint statement Wednesday in response to more alarming evidence of voter error and fraud discovered by the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
Initial findings from the Board presented to the Joint Legislative Elections Oversight Committee today show:
765 voters with an exact match of first and last name, DOB and last four digits of SSN were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in N.C. and the other state in the 2012 general election.
35,750 voters with the same first and last name and DOB were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in both states in the 2012 general election.
155,692 voters with the same first and last name, DOB and last four digits of SSN were registered in N.C. and another state – and the latest date of registration or voter activity did not take place within N.C.
These findings only take into account data from the 28 states who participated in the 2014 Interstate Crosscheck, leaving out potential voter error and fraud in the 22 states that do not participate in the consortium.
Additionally, during an audit of death records from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Board discovered:
50,000 new death records that had not previously been provided to the State Board of Elections.
13,416 deceased voters on the voter rolls in October 2013.
81 deceased voters that had voter activity after they died.
The findings were made possible by a new election reform law passed by the General Assembly last year, which called on the Board to improve the accuracy of voter registration lists and combat potential fraud by cross checking information on voting records with those of other states.
“While we are alarmed to hear evidence of widespread voter error and fraud, we are encouraged to see the common-sense law passed to ensure voters are who they say they are is working,” said Tillis and Berger. “These findings should put to rest ill-informed claims that problems don’t exist and help restore the integrity of our elections process. We appreciate the State Board of Elections bringing this critical information to light.””

“Threat to break isolation in Liberia over food
Dozens of people quarantined for Ebola monitoring in western Liberia are threatening to break out of isolation because they have no food, the West African nation’s state radio reported Thursday.
Forty-three people were put in quarantine after four people died of Ebola in Jenewonda, a town in an impoverished corner of Grand Cape Mount County near the Sierra Leone border, the Liberia Broadcasting System said.
It quoted those quarantined as saying that the U.N. World Food Program apparently has stopped providing food to people affected by Ebola in the area. A WFP press officer said he is looking into the claim.
Liberia is the hardest hit of three West African nations being ravaged by Ebola. The latest figures published Wednesday by the U.N. World Health Organization show the country has at least 4,665 infected people and 2,705 have died there. WHO says there probably are more ill people and deaths but the numbers are under-reported. Overall, the WHO says the disease has killed 4,877 people and infected 9,936, almost all in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.”

The appeal of Chicago, IL Obama Blagojevich crony Raghuveer Nayak has failed.
“A longtime friend of U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.who was at the center of a Senate seat scandal that sent ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich to prison was arrested Wednesday in his own federal fraud case, accused of bribing doctors to send patients to his surgical centers.
Raghuveer Nayak, a wealthy businessman and former campaign fundraiser for both politicians, was indicted on charges he secretly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to physicians from 2000 to 2010 to have patients referred to Rogers Park One Day Surgery Center, Lakeshore Surgery Center and other Chicago-area facilities he owned.
The investigation of his businesses had hung over Nayak’s head for years, and his lawyer, Thomas McQueen, said the charges were not unexpected. “He knew this had never gone away,” McQueen said after the FBI arrested his client at Nayak’s Oak Brook home.
A frowning Nayak appeared Wednesday at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in a rumpled shirt and entered a plea of not guilty to the 19 fraud counts against him. U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez ordered him released on a $10 million bond secured by six properties in Illinois and Indiana after Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Niewoehner told the court that Nayak has “rather significant assets” and ties to India.
Nayak left the courthouse without commenting.
In making their case against Blagojevich, federal authorities alleged that it was Nayak, a longtime friend of the Jackson family, who offered up to $6 million in campaign money in exchange for Jackson being named a senator. Blagojevich was found guilty on corruption charges last year that included counts involving the attempted sale of the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama after his 2008 election to the presidency.
Nayak was never charged in the Blagojevich case, and he quickly spoke with authorities after Blagojevich’s arrest in a bid for leniency. But he never was used as a witness, either, and investigators continued to look into his businesses.
Jackson testified at Blagojevich’s trial that he had no knowledge of a scheme to buy the Senate seat.
The indictment of Nayak is seen as one of the final offshoots of the sweeping federal investigation known as Operation Board Games, which in addition to Blagojevich led to convictions of fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko, formerAld. Edward Vrdolyak, Republican power broker William Cellini and others. One of the final sentences in cases connected to that probe could be handed down as soon as next week, when political insider turned federal witness Stuart Levine is expected to learn his punishment.
Sources have confirmed that the Board Games investigation is wrapping up. U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald is leaving office at the end of the month, and one of the lead prosecutors against Blagojevich, Reid Schar, already has left.
Although he raised money for politicians for more than a decade, Nayak mostly worked under the radar until his connections to Blagojevich and Jackson surfaced in 2008 as part of the burgeoning federal investigation into the governor’s office.”
“The indictment unsealed Wednesday alleges as part of the scheme that “physicians deceived their patients by not disclosing that they were being paid for making referrals to Nayak’s facilities,” but Nayak was the only person charged. He allegedly created false contracts to disguise some of the illicit payments, describing them as money for advertising, according to the document.
Prosecutors are seeking $1.8 million in “alleged fraud proceeds” in the case.
In one kickback scheme, prosecutors alleged, Nayak paid one person, identified only as “Individual A,” more than $2 million in checks drawn on his surgery centers’ accounts. In return, “Individual A” gave Nayak cash equaling about 70 percent of the value of the checks, according to the indictment.
In the Blagojevich case, Nayak’s friend Bedi testified that Nayak issued about $2 million in checks to a Bedi-owned company. Bedi testified he provided cash in return and said he knew Nayak was cheating on his taxes by making the payments.
Nayak’s businesses have over the years needed the approval of state regulators and auditors, and Nayak became a big campaign bundler and contributor, donating more than $779,000 to elected officials including Blagojevich, Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Obama from the late 1990s until his name surfaced in the Blagojevich scandal.
The Tribune previously reported that after Nayak first opened several Chicago drugstores in the early 1980s, his businesses faced multiple audits by state and federal authorities. His name also came up repeatedly in one of the largest health care fraud investigations in Illinois history.
That multiyear federal probe resulted in the shuttering of two hospitalsDoctors Hospital and Edgewater Medical Centerand the convictions of seven doctors and administrators. Nayak, who then owned a lab testing company called NR Laboratories as well as an outpatient surgery center, was among numerous people who came under scrutiny, the Tribune had reported.
Some of Nayak’s associates and friends were convicted in the scheme, which included charges that two patients died from unnecessary procedures performed by doctors looking to collect fraudulent public aid checks.”

“Barack Obama and the head of the CDC need to quit saying that we know exactly how Ebola spreads. Because the truth is that there is much about this virus that we simply do not know. Now U.S. scientist Peter Jahrling of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease believes the current Ebola outbreak may be caused by an infection that spreads more easily than it did before.
Dr Jahrling explained that his team, who are working in the epicentre of the crisis in the Liberian capital of Monrovia, are seeing that the viral loads in Ebola patients are much higher than they are used to seeing.
He told Vox.com: ‘We are using tests now that weren’t using in the past, but there seems to be a belief that the virus load is higher in these patients [today] than what we have seen before. If true, that’s a very different bug.
‘I have a field team in Monrovia. They are running [tests]. They are telling me that viral loads are coming up very quickly and really high, higher than they are used to seeing.
‘It may be that the virus burns hotter and quicker.’
Other top scientists are making similar observations.”
