Unemployment claims rise 10000, Private sector job adds fewer than expected, First quarter economy growth revised downward, Change and no hope

“And we can see the positive impacts right here at Solyndra. Less than a year ago, we were standing on what was an empty lot.But through the Recovery Act, this company received a loan to expand its operations. This new factory is the result of those loans.”…Barack Obama

“One could make the argument that Pritzker was the most important person in Barack Obama’s presidential bid – except, perhaps, for Obama himself. A longtime Obama friend, Pritzker was national finance chairwoman for the Obama campaign throughout his 2008 presidential effort. She helped him raise a record $750 million from a dizzying array of donors.
Obama’s huge fundraising advantage not only gave him clout during the primaries against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), but also provided the means to bypass federal funding for the general election and dramatically outspend Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)…Washington Post

“Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama says he’ll crack down on fraudulent sub-prime lenders. If he really means it he can start by firing his campaign finance chair, Penny Pritzker. Before taking over Obama’s campaign finances, she headed up the borderline shady and failed Superior Bank. It collapsed in 2002. The bank’s sordid story and its abominable role in fueling the sub-prime crisis are well known and documented. It engaged in deceptive and faulty lending, questionable accounting practices, and charged hidden fees. It did it with the sleepy-eyed see-no-evil oversight of federal. It made thousands of dubious loans to mostly poor, strapped homeowners. A disproportionate number of them were minority.

Obama’s home state, Illinois, ranked near the top of thee states in the percentage of sub-prime mortgages. Nearly 15 percent of home loans were sub-prime according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. But that only tells part of the tale. According to the Woodstock Institute, a Chicago non-profit that studies housing issues, the sub-prime fall-out was far higher in the predominantly black and Latino neighborhoods of South and Southwest Chicago.

The predictable happened when many of those lost their homes. When the bank collapsed Pritzker and bank officials skipped away with their profits and reputations intact. Aside from the financial and personal misery sub prime lenders caused the thousands of distressed homeowners, sub-prime lending has been a major cause of the housing crisis in many areas, and has dealt a sledgehammer blow to the economy. Obama has said nothing about Pritzker, Superior Bank, or their dubious practices.”…Huffington Post, February 29, 2008

We got the change Obama promised and no hope as long as he stays in office.

“For the second month in a row, the monthly jobs report from Automatic Data Processing (ADP – Snapshot Report) missed expectations. Since the ADP report tries to preview the monthly labor market report from the government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), this morning’s disappointing read does not bode well for tomorrow’s BLS report. For May, the ADP report is showing private-sector jobs of 133K, below expectations of 154K (according to Bloomberg). The tally for April was modestly revised downwards to 113K (from 119K). The expectation for private sector jobs in Friday’s BLS report is for 164K.”

“U.S. Economy Q1 Growth Revised Downward”

“The U.S. economy grew more slowly in the first quarter than previously estimated, reflecting smaller gains in inventories and bigger government cutbacks.

Gross domestic product climbed at a 1.9 percent annual rate from January through March, down from a 2.2 percent prior estimate, revised Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The report also showed corporate profits rose at the slowest pace in more than three years and smaller wage gains at the end of 2011.”

From Family Security Matters May 30, 2012.

“Artur Davis, former prominent Obama backer, leaves Democratic party”

“Artur Davis, one of President Obama’s earliest supporters and a former co-chairman for his presidential campaign, announced Tuesday that he was leaving the Democratic party for good.

In a post published Tuesday on his website, Davis was vague about his future political endeavors, but declared: “If I were to run, it would be as a Republican. And I am in the process of changing my voter registration from Alabama to Virginia, a development which likely does represent a closing of one chapter and perhaps the opening of another.”

Davis, who represented Alabama’s seventh congressional district from 2003 to 2011, was notably the first member of Congress outside of Illinois to endorse then-Sen. Obama’s 2008 presidential bid. And it was Davis who seconded the official nomination of Obama at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Along with making hints at the future, Davis reflected on his experiences as a Democrat, and condemned the path he believes the party is taking.
Renouncing the party “is no light decision on my part,” he wrote. “Cutting ties with an Alabama Democratic Party that has weakened and lost faith with more and more Alabamians every year is one thing; leaving a national party that has been the home for my political values for two decades is quite another.”
But “wearing a Democratic label no longer matches what I know about my country and its possibilities,” he said.”

Speaking of weasels, media weasels.

From Peter Foster of The Telegraph, May 29, 2012.

“Donald Trump makes Mitt Romney look like a weasel”

“Donald Trump is sticking to his guns over his belief that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not America, maintaining the so-called “birther conspiracy”.
I honestly don’t know if Mr Trump is just being idiotic (entirely possible) or cynically playing “dog whistle politics” by repeating the controversy (as he did again on CNN on Tuesday) in a bid to play the tacit race card against Obama.

The long-form birth certificate from the State of Hawaii and the two contemporaneous ads in the local Honolulu papers announcing the birth are not enough to convince the bouffant one.

To be honest this doesn’t really matter for Trump’s already non-existent reputation – choose what adjective you will, he’s a fool, or “bloviating ignoramus” (Conservative commentator George Will), “ridiculous” (CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer) or just a plain “Jack-ass” (former Bush speechwriter David Frum).
But this absolutely does matter for Romney. Given that he begins this campaign with a reputation for being a “perfectly-lubricated weather vane” (Jon Huntsman) being quite so craven over something this obviously absurd shows an amazing lack of judgment.

Spinelessness is not a character-trait to recommend a would-be leader of the Free World. Romney wants Obama to get tough on China, and be more “assertive in Syria” and yet apparently can’t bring himself to cut Mr Trump loose.

It is not enough to say he doesn’t share Trump’s opinion, and that Trump is entitled to his opinion, when the undertones of those opinions are clearly racist.

The impression, like when Romney failed to protect his openly gay national security adviser earlier in the campaign, is of a candidate cowering before his hardline base. Reagan would never have done that.

Even worse is the appearance that Romney is putting up with Trump’s persistently embarrassing pronouncements for the sake of money.

When a man with a personal fortune of $250m is prepared to risk his reputation for the sake of $2m, or whatever amount Trump has rustled up for the Romney campaign at last night’s Las Vegas fundraiser, it’s time to reset the political calculator.

Romney has now clinched the nomination. If he wants the White House, he has to show some backbone, because weaseling is a deeply unattractive trait, whatever side of the political spectrum you come from.”

What a load of horsecrap!

I am assuming that Peter Foster is not that dim witted or ill informed and is just regurgitating the party line or has been bought by the Obama camp.

If Foster has been paying attention or cares about the facts, he would know:

A) A birth announcement in one of the Hawaiian papers automatically was published in the other paper. This was a birth announcement. No one is questioning that Obama was born….somewhere. Conspiracy? That sounds like an idiot O’Reilly piece of “logic.”

B) COLB (certification of live birth) placed on the internet by several entities in 2008. Anybody, regardless of where they were born (and many did), could obtain one. Or as the only real journalist on CNN stated:

C) Obama, unlike John McCain in 2008, has never presented a certified, legitimate copy of a birth certificate.

D) Tim Adams, who worked in an elections office in Hawaii in 2008, was told then that there was no birth certificate for Obama.

E) Neil Abercrombie, the governor of Hawaii and a family friend of Obama, soon after taking office made inquiries and stated that he could find no birth certificate for Obama.

F) The Sheriff Joe Arpaio cold case posse investigation, along with other experts have stated that the image placed on WhiteHouse.gov is fraudulent.

G) Even if the image on WhiteHouse.gov appeared authentic, it could not be used in a court of law under scrutiny and questioning due to the following:

The phrase “or abstract” disqualifies it as proof of a certified copy.

H) Here is a list of some of the US Justice Department attorneys who have assisted Obama in keeping his records hidden. Their representation of Obama is a matter of public record. This list does not include the support staffs.

Eric Fleisig-Greene

Elizabeth A. Pascal

Neal Kumar Katyal Acting Solicitor General

R. CraiG Lawrence

Mark B. Stern

Andre Birotte Jr.

Leon W. Weidman

David A. Dejute

Roger E. West

George S. Cardona

Tony West

Paul J. Fishman

I) Robert Bauer, who as an attorney with Perkins Coie helped Obama keep his records hidden before Obama took the White House, and afterwards was hired as general counsel, is not included in the list as well as numerous private practice attorneys.

J) Obama continues to engage numerous Justice Department and private attorneys to keep his records hidden. It may be because Obama pretended to be from Kenya to get foreign student aid and benefits.

K) The recently released bio from Obama’s publisher  stated from 1991 to 2007 that Obama was born in Kenya. This is one of numerous references to Obama being born in Kenya. The difference this time is that it came from his own bio.

“As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of the Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in it’s stead. This process of continuation alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs–to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to be correct; nor was any item of news, or expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to be on record.”…George Orwell, “1984″

From WND May 29, 2012.

“TRUMP SLAPS CNN: REPORT OBAMA BIRTH FRAUD!”

“Billionaire businessman Donald Trump smacked CNN today, telling lead political anchor Wolf Blitzer the network would improve its dismal viewer ratings if it would only report the issue of Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president “accurately.”

“Obama does not like the issue of where he was born…” he told Blitzer in the interview. “There’s something that bothers Obama very much. I will tell you: It’s not an issue that he likes talking about, so what he does is use reverse psychology on people like you … He does not like that issue because it’s hitting very close to home. You know it, and he knows it – but you don’t report it accurately.”

Blitzer blasted Trump: “Donald, you and I have known each other for a very long time, and I don’t understand why you’re doubling down on this ‘birther’ issue after the state of Hawaii formally says this is the legitimate birth certificate, he was born in Hawaii. Why are you going through all of this, Donald?”

Trump began to explain, “Well, a lot of people don’t agree with that birth certificate. A lot of people …”

Trump wasn’t allowed to finish because Blitzer cut him off, insisting, “If the state of Hawaii authorizes it, if the state of Hawaii says, ‘This is official. He was born in Hawaii on this date, here it is, why do you deny that?”

Trump responded, “A lot of people do not think it was an authentic certificate. You won’t report it, Wolf, but many people do not think it was authentic. His mother was not in the hospital. There were many other things that came out and, frankly, if you would report it accurately, I think you’d probably get better ratings than you’re getting – which are pretty small.”

At that, the CNN anchor displayed images of Hawaii newspaper announcements printed days after Obama’s purported birth. He spoke over Trump, refusing to allow his guest to speak without interruption.

“Many people did that, and they put those … excuse me, Wolf, am I allowed to talk?” Trump asked, frustrated after being cut off. “Are you going to stop defending Obama?”

Does anyone really know where Obama is from? Find out the startling truth from New York Times best-selling author Jerome Corsi.

Irritated with the exchange, Blitzer admonished, “Donald, Donald, you’re beginning to sound a little ridiculous, I have to tell you.”

“No, I think you are, Wolf,” Trump snapped back. “Let me tell you something: I think you sound ridiculous. And if you’d ask me a question and let me answer it …”

Blitzer asked, “Here’s the question: Did the conspiracy start in 1961 when the Honolulu Star Bulletin and the Honolulu Advertiser contemporaneously published announcements that he was born in Hawaii?”

“That’s right,” Trump said. “And many people put those announcements in because they wanted to get the benefit of being so-called born in this country. Many people did it. It was something that was done by many people, even if they weren’t born in the country. You know it, and so do I. And so do a lot of your viewers – although you don’t have many viewers.”

After the interview, Trump posted on Twitter: “@BarackObama is practically begging @MittRomney to disavow the place of birth movement, he is afraid of it and for good reason. He keeps using @SenJohnMcCain as an example, however, @SenJohnMcCain lost the election. Don’t let it happen again.”

Some mainstream media outlets claim Trump’s comments have put GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in an awkward position. Romney has said he believes Obama was born in the U.S., but Democrats have criticized him for not distancing himself from Trump.

Even Obama took aim at the pair by releasing a video “highlighting Mitt Romney’s failure to condemn Donald Trump’s over-the-line rhetoric.”

“If Mitt Romney lacks the backbone to stand up to a charlatan like Donald Trump because he’s so concerned about lining his campaign’s pockets,” the Obama campaign said, “what does that say about the kind of president he would be?”

Romney has refused to condemn Trump, saying, “You know, I don’t agree with all the people who support me. My guess is they don’t agree with everything I believe in. But I need to get 50.1 percent or more and I’m appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.””

Thanks to commenter SueQ for the partial transcript of the Donald Trump interview on CNBC today.

” I want to go back to the birther stuff. You were fanning the flames last week. Are you back in the same place where you were before? I never really changed. Nothing’s changed my mind. You have a huge group of people. I walk down the street and people are screaming please don’t (something deleted from transcript). A publisher came out last week and had a statement about a young man doing a book, born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia. The publisher came out and said we made a mistake. What do we do? Oh, we made a mistake. That’s not the way life works. He’s a young man doing a book and he said what he believed to be the truth. So there’s a whole lot of things. His mother was never in the hospital, they don’t know which hospital it was, his grandmother said he was born in Kenya. It all wouldn’t matter except if you’re born in a foreign country, you’re not allowed to be president so this is a minor detail. So the publisher comes out last week and made this statement and said we made a mistake. Is it an important thing? In a way it is because it says you’re not allowed to be president if you’re not born in the country. I’m not fanning flames. This is something that came out last week, a lot of people are questioning his birth certificate, questioning the authenticity of his birth certificate. I’ve been known as being a very smart giep (not sure what a giep is… will have to listen again) for a long time. I don’t consider myself birther or not birther but there are some major questions here and the press just refuses to cover it. Now, if that were somebody else, they’d be covering it and throwing people out of office but they don’t want to cover it. So it’s interesting. There is a weird — in that same report that was on some of the conservative web sites and i haven’t even confirmed it, Donald, but there was a quote from one of his debates when he was running for state senator, I believe and one of his opponents said, well, this was at the time when the Kenya thing was still on some of his biographies or something and the guy said you weren’t even born here, he said it doesn’t matter if I’m born here, I wasn’t running for president at the time — there was a quote, from him. But the question is whether there was a time in his life where he thought it was more attractive to be a more national type guy and maybe didn’t change the impression that he wasn’t. I don’t know. Joe, just to finish off, a lot of people want to see his college transcripts. They’re not looking at his marks, his grade, was he a good student. they want to see what they say about place of birth. Those transcripts have disappeared. nobody seems to be able to get them. I was able to get him to produce a birth certificate, if it was a correct birth certificate. A lot of people have very serious doubts. they want to see his college transcripts because they want to see what is he saying about place of birth. What did he say? Well, he is really stone walling it, to use an old Nixon term, he is really stone walling it when it comes to — he just doesn’t want to give those transcripts. What does he say at Columbia and Harvard and his other college where he supposedly did not get good marks and got into Columbia. What does he say about place of birth? One other thing, the hospital. the mother was never in the hospital. These are minor details but they can’t find any records that the mother was in the hospital. So it’s a tough situation.”

Obama Kenya birth story allowed student aid at Columbia without a Selective Service Application, Solomon Bill, Obama 1983 Sundial article, Memorial Day 2012

“At this time, the current major issue is the Solomon Bill, the latest legislation from Congress to obtain compliance to registration. The law requires that
all male students applying for federal financial aid submit proof of registration, or else the government coffers will close. Yale, Wesleyan, and Swathmore
have refused to comply, and plan to offer non-registrants other forms of financial aid. SAM hopes to press Columbia into following suit, though so far
President Sovern and company seem prepared to acquiesce to the bill.”

“Several students have come up to our tables and said that had they known of the ineffectiveness of prosecution, they would not have registered.”…1983 Columbia University article by Barack Obama

“The Solomon Bill, requiring students at Columbia and other colleges to register for the draft and references to Obama being born in Kenya until 2008, explain why Obama did not register for the draft and why Obama’s Selective Service Application was forged.”…Citizen Wells

I believe that the best way that we can honor fallen soldiers on Memorial Day, or any other day, is to do our duty to maintain our system of government and laws that they fought to protect. It was fitting today to connect more dots together about Obama’s past and why he may have refused to fill out and submit a Selective Service Application.

We have in recent months obtained stronger corroboration of Obama claiming to be from Kenya in the past. Why would he do so?

Thanks to Debbie Schlussel who first broke the Obama fraudulent Selective Service Application story in 2008.

“On the previous FOIA response, they stated that it was filed on September 4, 1980. In my second request I mentioned that Obama could not have filed it in Hawaii on September 4, 1980 as he was attending Occidental College in California, the classes of which commenced August 24, 1980.”

https://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2012/04/28/obama-signature-on-selective-service-registration-fraud-debbie-schlussel-first-investigated-document-sheriff-joe-arpaio-investigation-video/

The 1983 Obama article in the Columbia University Sundial takes on new meaning with the strong Kenya references we now know of.

“Also operating out of Earl Hall Center, Students Against Militarism was formed in response to the passage of registration laws in 1980. An entirely student
-run organization, SAM casts a wider net than ARA, though for the purposes of effectiveness, they have tried to lock in on one issue at a time.

“At the heart of our organization is an anti-war focus”, says junior Robert Kahn, one of SAM’s fifteen or so active members. “From there, a lot of issues
shoot forth – nukes, racism, the draft, and South Africa. “We have been better organized when taking one issue at a time, but we are always cognizant of
other things going on, and collaborate frequently with other campus organizations like CISPES and REEL-POLITIK.”

At this time, the current major issue is the Solomon Bill, the latest legislation from Congress to obtain compliance to registration.
President Sovern and company seem prepared to acquiesce to the bill.

Robert believes students tacitly support non-registrants, though the majority did not comply. “Several students have come up to our tables and said that had
they known of the ineffectiveness of prosecution, they would not have registered.” A measure of such underlying support is the 400 signatures, on a petition protesting the Solomon Bill, which SAM collected the first four hours it appeared. Robert also points out that prior to registration, there were four
separate bills circulation in the House proposing a return to the draft, but none ever got out of committees, and there have not been renewed efforts. An
estimated half-million registrants can definitely be a powerful signal.

Prodding students into participating beyond name signing and attending events is tricky, but SAM members seem undaunted. “A lot of the problem comes not
from people’s ignorance of the facts, but because the news and statistics are lifeless. That’s why we search for campus issues like the Solomon bill that
have direct impact on the student body, and effectively link the campus to broader issues.” By organizing and educating the Columbia community, such
activities lay the foundation for future mobilization against the relentless, often silent spread of militarism in the country. “The time is right to tie
together social and military issues, “Robert continues, “and the more strident the Administration becomes, the more aware people are of their real interests.

The belief that moribund institutions, rather than individuals are at the root of the problem, keep SAM’s energies alive. “A prerequisite for members of an
organization like ours is the faith that people are fundamentally good, but you need to show them. And when you look at the work people are doing across the
country, it makes you optimistic.

Perhaps the essential goodness of humanity is an arguable proposition, but by observing the SAM meeting last Thursday night, with its solid turnout and
enthusiasm, one might be persuaded that the manifestations of our better instincts can at least match the bad ones. Regarding Columbia’s possible
compliance, one comment in particular hit upon an important point with the Solomon bill, “The thing we need to do is expose how Columbia is talking out of
two sides of its mouth.”

Indeed the most pervasive malady of the collegiate system specifically, and the American experience generally, in that elaborate patterns of knowledge and
theory have been disembodied from individual choices and government policy. What the members of ARA and SAM try to do is infuse what they have learned about the current situation, bring the words of that formidable roster on the face of Butler Library, names like Thoreau, Jefferson, and Whitman, to bear on the
twisted logic of which we are today a part. By adding their energy and effort in order to enhance the possibility of a decent world, they may help deprive
us of a spectacular experience – that of war. But then, there are some things we shouldn’t have to live through in order to want to avoid the experience.”

“Why did the Illinois Senate Health & Human Services Committee, with Obama as chairman, create and push Bill 1332, “Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act,” early in 2003, which reduced the number of members on the Board from 15 to 9, just prior to rigging by Tony Rezko and Rod Blagojevich?”…Citizen Wells

“Why wasn’t Rod Blagojevich, Governor of IL, prosecuted before Tony Rezko, a businessman?”…Citizen Wells

“Why was Tony Rezko’s sentencing delayed?”…Citizen Wells

Patrick Fitzgerald, the prosecutor in Operation Board Games of Tony Rezko, Rod Blagojevich, et al, will resign from the US Justice Department at the end of June, 2012.

Fitzgerald aggressively prosecuted Republican ex Governot of Illinois, George Ryan and unjustly went after Scooter Libby and Karl Rove. Fitzgerald waited until after the 2008 elections to arrest Governor Rod Blagojevich despite the fact that he had details of corruption in the Blagojevich Administration at least by late 2003.

Is Patrick Fitzgerald a pawn, an idiot or corrupt?

From an FBI wiretap:

“You know, Axelrod and Obama’s people, you know, clearly turned, you know, got the Chicago media to make Rezko all about me.”

Late 2003.

Earliest documented awareness by FBI and Patrick Fitzgerald of corruption in Blagojevich admin. Pamela Meyer Davis agreed to secretly record conversations involving state health planning board with an FBI wire.

December 31, 2003 NY Times.

“Mr. Fitzgerald announced that he was prosecuting former Gov. George Ryan, a Republican, in a scandal that had been swirling around long before Mr. Fitzgerald got here and that many people thought would never touch the most powerful politicians in Illinois. But there Mr. Fitzgerald was, a week before Christmas, ticking off the details of a 91-page indictment against Mr. Ryan, seemingly from memory.

That, even Mr. Fitzgerald’s former opponents in the courtroom say, is classic Fitzgerald: dogged, dispassionate and endlessly prepared.”

April 8 – May 21, 2004 (Rezko Trial March 12, 2008; 11:11 a.m.)

“FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain, the primary case agent on the investigation into Levine and Rezko, is on the stand now in testimony that is laying the foundation for entering the wiretaps into evidence.

Cain said the investigation, dubbed Operation Board Games by the federal agents, began in December 2003 and was prompted by information gleaned from an informant whom he did not identify. That witness, he said, took part in meetings with two other individuals who were in contact with Levine by phone at his home.

Cain said Levine had three phone lines in his North Shore home. Federal agents recorded conversations on those lines April 8-May 21, 2004. Those dates span the time when Levine, Rezko and others allegedly were working to rig the hospital board vote on a Mercy Health System hospital proposal for Crystal Lake and other kickback schemes prosecutors claim they were engaged in.”

I have noticed a lot of honest reporting from the Greensboro News and Record regarding the unemployment situation in NC in recent months. The Charlotte Observer on the other hand, recently endorsed Jim Pendergraph for congress and then after he questioned Obama the Observer retracted that endorsement. The latest unemployment data for NC was just released. First the Charlotte Observer article, which I had to really dig to find.

From The Vail Business Journal May 26, 2012.

“Charlotte region’s unemployment rate drops

By Celeste Smith, The Charlotte Observer, N.C.

May 25–The Charlotte region’s unemployment rate stayed below 10?percent in April for the second straight month, and it dropped significantly from a year earlier, according to figures released Friday by the N.C. Department of Commerce’s Division of Employment Security.

Unemployment in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill metropolitan area declined to 9.1?percent from 9.6?percent the month before. The unemployment rate a year earlier was 10.6?percent.

Statewide, unemployment rates fell in April from the previous month in 93 of North Carolina’s 100 counties, including Mecklenburg, where the rate fell to 9.0?percent from 9.5 percent. Rates are not seasonally adjusted.

Mecklenburg’s unemployment rate beat the state average of 9.1?percent. But more than 43,700 people remained unemployed in the county.

Some surrounding counties fared better than Mecklenburg in year-to-year comparisons, said UNC?Charlotte economics professor John Connaughton. For example, the 1.7?percent drop in Catawba County’s unemployment rate compared to April 2011 exceeded Mecklenburg’s 1.2?percent.

But Connaughton said that’s also a sign the region’s economy is improving.

“We’ve gotten a lot better in the last year,” Connaughton said.

“What it’s suggesting is, after the great financial collapse and the impact on a lot of our manufacturing (sector) in the surrounding counties, those things seem to be getting back on track.”

Statewide, April 2012 unemployment rates declined in 88 counties compared with last April. Rates increased in 11 counties, and remained the same in one.

“Looking at over-the-year numbers, most of North Carolina’s counties have lower unemployment rates which is certainly positive,” said commerce Deputy Secretary Dale Carroll.

For the second straight month, unemployment rates decreased in all 14 of the state’s metro areas, according to the state data.

Connaughton predicts the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill metro area will beat the state’s rate in upcoming months.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re below 8?percent by the end of the year. Not that that’s great, but it’s a lot better than the last couple of years,” Connaughton said.

“We’re starting to see some job growth come back, and that’s really important, and it’s been consistent.””

From the Greensboro News Record May 26, 2012.

“By DONALD W. PATTERSON
Staff Writer”

“Unemployment rates fell in 93 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in April , including those in the Triad .

That’s good news, obviously.

Yet, analysts said, those numbers mask a deeper, more troubling trend — the shrinkage of the state’s labor force.

Over the last year, only the Piedmont Triad and the Research Triangle have posted gains in their labor pools, which represent those people who have jobs or are actively looking for work.

The 12-county Piedmont Triad economic development region saw its workforce grow by 0.3 percent in the past year. Granted, that’s a small increase, but aside from the Triangle, the other five regions of the state experienced declines in their labor pools during that period.

“Although the drop in the unemployment rate is unquestionably a positive sign, we should not read too much into this as a measure of the state’s long-term recovery,” Allan Freyer , a policy analyst with the N.C. Budget & Tax Center in Raleigh , wrote in his April jobs report. “Much of the mathematical drop in the unemployment rate is simply due to the decrease in the labor force in most of these regions across the state.”

Freyer said the unemployment rate can drop when job seekers become discouraged and stop looking for a job.

“We’re seeing troubling signs of a two-tier recovery in the state,” his report said. “ … Regions like the Triangle and the Piedmont (are) growing their labor force and employment base, while the rest of the state gets left behind.”

In the past year, Freyer said, the Piedmont Triad’s employment has grown by 1.5 percent. In the Triangle, it’s gone up 1.9 percent.

“The biggest areas (in the state) are the ones getting the most job growth,” Freyer said in an interview. “The Piedmont Triad region is growing because its metro areas are growing.”

In the Greensboro-High Point metropolitan area, for example, manufacturing jobs increased over the past year by 2,300 , or 4.5 percent. In the Winston-Salem metro, leisure and hospitality jobs rose by 800 , or 3.9 percent. In the Burlington metro, government jobs jumped by 5.5 percent, or 400 jobs.

Even so, six area counties still have unemployment rates at 9 percent or higher.

The rate in Guilford County , for example, dropped to 9.1 percent compared with 10.2 percent in April of 2011 .

Area rates ranged from 8.5 percent in Forsyth to 10.4 percent in Rockingham .

Statewide, the unemployment rate stood at 9.1 percent in April .

Compared with last December , the state has added nearly 26,000 jobs, but 85 percent of the gain occurred in January .

“Over the last two months, North Carolina has essentially netted no new jobs,” John Quinterno , a principal with South by North Strategies , a research firm in Chapel Hill , wrote in his monthly jobs report. “While North Carolina’s job market began 2012 moving in a positive direction, it has failed to maintain that momentum.”

In all, more than 421,000 North Carolinians were unemployed in April . That’s nearly twice the number without jobs in December 2007 , when the recession started.

In addition, just 56.6 percent of the state’s total population had a job last month.

“This suggests that the state’s economy is creating just enough jobs to keep treading water,” Freyer’s report said. “(That’s) nowhere near enough to keep up with population growth and replace those jobs lost during the recession.””

Were they writing about the same state?

Greensboro is the largest city of the Triad. Raleigh  the largest city of the Triangle.

Compare the following exerpt from the News Record to the Observer article:

“Over the last year, only the Piedmont Triad and the Research Triangle have posted gains in their labor pools, which represent those people who have jobs or are actively looking for work.

The 12-county Piedmont Triad economic development region saw its workforce grow by 0.3 percent in the past year. Granted, that’s a small increase, but aside from the Triangle, the other five regions of the state experienced declines in their labor pools during that period.”

On May 18, 2012 Raleigh WRAL was noted for their honest reporting on NC employment.

For what can only be described at best as misleading reporting on the employment situation in NC I award the Charlotte Observer 4 Orwells.

Greensboro is the hometown of Edward R. Murrow. I believe that Mr. Murrow would be pleased with the News and Record for this report.

The Democrat Convention will be held in Charlotte, NC.

Patrick Fitzgerald resignation reasons, Fitzgerald knows much about Obama, US Justice Dept. investigation, Somebody will talk

Patrick Fitzgerald resignation reasons, Fitzgerald knows much about Obama, US Justice Dept. investigation, Somebody will talk

“I just think it’s very, very disturbing that we have these pay-to-play allegations going on for years.”…Patrick Fitzgerald

“Why did Patrick Fitzgerald and the US Justice Department wait until December 2008 to arrest Rod Blagojevich?”…Citizen Wells

“There is enough corruption in Illinois so that all it takes is someone who is serious about finding it to uncover it. If a U.S. attorney is not finding corruption in Illinois, they’re not seriously looking for it.”…Northwestern Law Professor James Lindgren

Citizen Wells thoughts on the Patrick Fitzgerald resignation.

Somebody is going to talk.

There is a good chance Obama will not be reelected.

Eric Holder is being investigated.

The Rod Blagojevich appeal is moving forward.

Stuart levine is scheduled for sentencing June 28, 2012.

Tony Rezko is languishing in prison.

William Cellini is awaiting sentencing and has a motion hearing scheduled for May 31, 2012.

The FDIC lawsuit, Mutual Bank v. Mahajan is alive. This is the bank that loaned the Rezko’s money for the lot the Obama’s bought.

The Kenneth J. Conner whistleblower lawsuit against the FDIC and Mutual Bank is still alive. Conner questioned the appraisal of the lot.
Patrick Fitzgerald knows plenty about Obama and must suspect things will get worse before better.

If Obama loses, there will be a huge shakedown in the US Justice Dept. Heads will roll and tongues will loosen up. Patrick Fitzgerald has a lot of explaining to do.

There are plenty of reasons for Fitzgerald to exit now.

Take your pick.
