From Zero Hedge July 22, 2017.

“Is This The New Media Normal: Manufactured News For Hire?”

“Donald Trump, Jr. appears to be the latest figure in President Donald Trump’s inner circle to be caught in the giant web of the Great Kremlin Conspiracy. Trump the younger said he was promised dirt on Hillary Clinton, but that all he got in his June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer was an earful about dropping the Magnitzky Act, which sanctions Russian officials involved in the death of a Russian lawyer who was killed in detention.

If the Trump, Jr. meeting is just another chapter in the Beltway telenovela about Trump selling out America to the Russians through an ever-changing cast of supposed intermediaries – come back, Mike Flynn and Carter Page, we hardly knew ye – it sheds valuable light on the ways and means by which the news that fills our iPhone screens and Facebook feeds is now produced.

You see, the Russian lawyer – often carelessly presented as a “Russian government lawyer” with “close ties to Putin” – Natalia Veselnitskaya, who met with Trump, also worked recently with a Washington, D.C. “commercial research and strategic intelligence firm” that is also believed to have lobbied against the Magnitzy Act. That firm, which also doubles as an opposition research shop, is called Fusion GPS – famous for producing the Russia dossier distributed under the byline of Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence agent for hire.”

“Fusion GPS was founded in 2009—before the social media wave destroyed most of the remaining structures of 20th-century American journalism—by two Wall Street Journal reporters, Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch. They picked upformer colleagues from the Journal, Tom Catan, and Neil King, Jr., who were also well-respected by their peers. When the social media wave hit two years later, print media’s last hopes for profitability vanished, and Facebook became the actual publisher of most of the news that Americans consumed. Opposition research and comms shops like Fusion GPS became the news-rooms—with investigative teams and foreign bureaus—that newspapers could no longer afford.

As top reporters themselves, the principals of Fusion GPS knew exactly what their former colleagues needed in order to package and sell stories to their editors and bosses. “Simpson was one of the top terror-finance investigative reporters in the field,” says one Washington-based journalist, who knows Simpson professionally and personally, and who asked for anonymity in discussing a former reporter. “He got disillusioned when Rupert Murdoch took over the Journal because there was less room for the kind of long-form investigative journalism he thrived on.”

And now, says the journalist, “they’re guns for hire. They were hired to dig up dirt on donors to Mitt Romney’s campaign, they were hired by Planned Parenthood after a video exposing some of the organization’s controversial practices.””

“The shape of the debate over the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action illustrated this most clearly. The Obama White House turned the press into an instrument used not only to promote its initiatives, but also to drown out and threaten and shame critics and potential opponents, even within the president’s own party. Given the financial exigencies of a media whose business model had been broken by the internet, mismanagement, and the rise of social media as the dominant information platform, the prestige press sacrificed its independence for access to power. If for instance, your beat was national security, it was difficult at best to cross the very few sources of power in Washington that controlled access to information. Your job depended on it. And there are increasingly fewer jobs in the press.

Ironically, the seeds of the moral and physical collapse of the American press were planted at the moment of its greatest popular triumph – All the President’s Men. Not the book by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, but the 1976 film lionizing the work of journalists whose big story about the Watergate break-in and cover-up was based on information provided by a government official, who steered their reporting until he brought down the President of the United States. Oh sure, have it your way, Mark Felt—aka “Deep Throat”—was a whistleblower, a man of conscience serving the people he protected for decades as a federal agent. But he was also a man who wanted to become Director of the FBI, and became furious at Nixon for snubbing him for the top job. In other words, the hero of this epic tale was an embittered law enforcement official who instead of going public with what he knew about a crime, manipulated a vital American institution, the free press, to pay back his boss, while the reporters manfully withheld that information from their readers.

This is to take nothing away from the sedulous and detailed reporting of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. But the lesson of Watergate has been imprinted on two generations of journalists, and it was only a matter of time before it was raised to the level of a virtue in the Obama years—if you want to break real news, you need to ingratiate yourself with the mid to high-level officials who are in position to leak it to you. And then, the bottom fell out of the news business.”

From “1984” by George Orwell.

“Winston dialled ‘back numbers’ on the telescreen and called for the appropriate issues of The Times, which slid out of the pneumatic tube after only a few minutes’ delay. The messages he had received referred to articles or news items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, as the official phrase had it, to rectify. For example, it appeared from The Times of the seventeenth of March that Big Brother, in his speech of the previous day, had predicted that the South Indian front would remain quiet but that a Eurasian offensive would shortly be launched in North Africa. As it happened, the Eurasian Higher Command had launched its offensive in South India and left North Africa alone. It was therefore necessary to rewrite a paragraph of Big Brother’s speech, in such a way as to make him predict the thing that had actually happened. Or again, The Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones. As for the third message, it referred to a very simple error which could be set right in a couple of minutes. As short a time ago as February, the Ministry of Plenty had issued a promise (a ‘categorical pledge’ were the official words) that there would be no reduction of the chocolate ration during 1984. Actually, as Winston was aware, the chocolate ration was to be reduced from thirty grammes to twenty at the end of the present week. All that was needed was to substitute for the original promise a warning that it would probably be necessary to reduce the ration at some time in April.

As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of The Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames.

What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the pneumatic tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of The Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs — to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct, nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. In no case would it have been possible, once the deed was done, to prove that any falsification had taken place. The largest section of the Records Department, far larger than the one on which Winston worked, consisted simply of persons whose duty it was to track down and collect all copies of books, newspapers, and other documents which had been superseded and were due for destruction. A number of The Times which might, because of changes in political alignment, or mistaken prophecies uttered by Big Brother, have been rewritten a dozen times still stood on the files bearing its original date, and no other copy existed to contradict it. Books, also, were recalled and rewritten again and again, and were invariably reissued without any admission that any alteration had been made. Even the written instructions which Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he had dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed: always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.

But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty’s figures, it was not even forgery. It was merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another. Most of the material that you were dealing with had no connexion with anything in the real world, not even the kind of connexion that is contained in a direct lie. Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. A great deal of the time you were expected to make them up out of your head. For example, the Ministry of Plenty’s forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at one-hundred-and-forty-five million pairs. The actual output was given as sixty-two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty-seven millions, so as to allow for the usual claim that the quota had been overfulfilled. In any case, sixty-two millions was no nearer the truth than fifty-seven millions, or than one-hundred-and-forty-five millions. Very likely no boots had been produced at all. Likelier still, nobody knew how many had been produced, much less cared. All one knew was that every quarter astronomical numbers of boots were produced on paper, while perhaps half the population of Oceania went barefoot. And so it was with every class of recorded fact, great or small. Everything faded away into a shadow-world in which, finally, even the date of the year had become uncertain.”

“Winston’s greatest pleasure in life was in his work. Most of it was a tedious routine, but included in it there were also jobs so difficult and intricate that you could lose yourself in them as in the depths of a mathematical problem — delicate pieces of forgery in which you had nothing to guide you except your knowledge of the principles of Ingsoc and your estimate of what the Party wanted you to say. Winston was good at this kind of thing. On occasion he had even been entrusted with the rectification of The Times leading articles, which were written entirely in Newspeak. He unrolled the message that he had set aside earlier. It ran:”

“Once again he glanced at his rival in the opposite cubicle. Something seemed to tell him with certainty that Tillotson was busy on the same job as himself. There was no way of knowing whose job would finally be adopted, but he felt a profound conviction that it would be his own. Comrade Ogilvy, unimagined an hour ago, was now a fact. It struck him as curious that you could create dead men but not living ones. Comrade Ogilvy, who had never existed in the present, now existed in the past, and when once the act of forgery was forgotten, he would exist just as authentically, and upon the same evidence, as Charlemagne or Julius Caesar.”

Thank God “1984” is still being read.

It should be required reading.

From Gallup April 5, 2017.

“Six in 10 in US See Partisan Bias in News Media”

“STORY HIGHLIGHTS

62% say news media favors one political party over the other
More believe media favors Democrats than Republicans
Clear majority of Americans say media is “often inaccurate””
“In a contentious political landscape, Americans increasingly believe the news media generally favors one political party over the other. Sixty-two percent of U.S. adults say the media has a favorite, up from about 50% in past years. Just 27% now say the media favors neither major party.

When Gallup last asked this question in February 2003, Americans were about evenly divided on the issue. Americans were also evenly split when the question was first asked in April 1995. In December 2000, in the midst of the election results recount between George W. Bush and Al Gore, slightly more Americans perceived partisan bias in the news media (51%) than believed the news media was politically neutral (41%).

Republicans are mostly responsible for the increase in perceptions of partisan media bias since 2003. Currently, 77% of Republicans say the media favors one party over the other; in 2003, 59% of Republicans said the same. By comparison, 44% of Democrats now say the media plays favorites, unchanged from the 44% who said so in 2003.

Americans Believe News Media Favors Democrats

Gallup asked those who perceive political bias in the news media to say which party the news media favors. Almost two-thirds (64%) of those who believe the media favors a political party say it is the Democratic Party. Only about a third as many (22%) believe the media favors Republicans.”

Breitbart reported on February 15, 2017.

William Binney, a former highly placed NSA official turned whistleblower, contended in an exclusive interview today that the National Security Agency (NSA) is “absolutely” monitoring the phone calls of President Donald Trump.

Binney was an architect of the NSA’s surveillance program. He became a famed whistleblower when he resigned on October 31, 2001 after spending more than 30 years with the agency.”

“Regarding Flynn’s case, Binney stated of the NSA:

If they weren’t behind it, they certainly had the data. Now the difference here is that FBI and CIA have direct access inside the NSA databases. So, they may be able to go directly in there and see that material there. And NSA doesn’t monitor that. They don’t even monitor their own people going into databases.

So, they don’t monitor what CIA and FBI do. And there’s no oversight or attempted oversight by any of the committees or even the FISA court. So, any way you look at it, ultimately the NSA is responsible because they are doing the collection on everybody inside the United States. Phone calls. Emails. All of that stuff.”

NBC News wrote the following on March 6, 2017.

“President Trump’s assertion — without evidence — that Barack Obama wire-tapped Trump Tower during the 2016 election started as a “conspiratorial rant” on conservative talk radio, got picked up by Breitbart News, and then moved over to the president’s Twitter feed, the New York Times writes. FBI Director James Comey has asked the Justice Department to publicly reject Trump’s claim because it’s untrue. And the entire episode potentially opens up President Trump to libel charges. “He’s basically stating that Mr. Obama committed crimes, and to state that somebody has committed a crime when it’s false is clearly defamatory,” Benjamin Zipursky, who teaches defamation law at Fordham University Law School in New York, told NBC News. “One more example of fake news from that article is:

  • And he said, in his presidential address to Congress, that “94 million Americans are out of the labor force” (when that figure includes seniors and teenagers).”

94 million is correct, I checked it.

What the hell do they mean by “seniors and teenagers”?

Teenagers and seniors are part of the labor force.

NY Times deal with devil, Times endorses Hillary Clinton, Bob Herbert 2001 Democratic Party … made a pact with Mr. Clinton that was the equivalent of a pact with the devil, Lost its bearings and maybe even its soul, “The devil’s in that woman.”

“Millions of cretinous and amoral Americans still admire Bill and Hillary Clinton, the two foulest amoral slimebags that have ever besmirched the White House. These two foulmouthed and lying psychopaths have been, and still are, blindly supported by masses of non-clinical morons, diehard Democrats, and whorish liberal journalists and their editors.

The Clintons’ habitual lies, gutter language, anti-Semitic outbursts, and anti-black slurs have been documented by reliable writers but have been — and still are — routinely suppressed by the so-called liberal media.”…Reinhold Aman, Ph.D.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”…Ephesians 6:12

“The devil’s in that woman.”…Miss Emma, Clinton’s cook, governor’s mansion

The NY Times has made a deal with the devil and endorsed Hillary Clinton.

“Running down the other guy won’t suffice to make that argument. The best case for Hillary Clinton cannot be, and is not, that she isn’t Donald Trump.

The best case is, instead, about the challenges this country faces, and Mrs. Clinton’s capacity to rise to them.

The next president will take office with bigoted, tribalist movements and their leaders on the march. In the Middle East and across Asia, in Russia and Eastern Europe, even in Britain and the United States, war, terrorism and the pressures of globalization are eroding democratic values, fraying alliances and challenging the ideals of tolerance and charity.

The 2016 campaign has brought to the surface the despair and rage of poor and middle-class Americans who say their government has done little to ease the burdens that recession, technological change, foreign competition and war have heaped on their families.

Over 40 years in public life, Hillary Clinton has studied these forces and weighed responses to these problems. Our endorsement is rooted in respect for her intellect, experience, toughness and courage over a career of almost continuous public service, often as the first or only woman in the arena.

Mrs. Clinton’s work has been defined more by incremental successes than by moments of transformational change. As a candidate, she has struggled to step back from a pointillist collection of policy proposals to reveal the full pattern of her record. That is a weakness of her campaign, and a perplexing one, for the pattern is clear. It shows a determined leader intent on creating opportunity for struggling Americans at a time of economic upheaval and on ensuring that the United States remains a force for good in an often brutal world.

Similarly, Mrs. Clinton’s occasional missteps, combined with attacks on her trustworthiness, have distorted perceptions of her character. She is one of the most tenacious politicians of her generation, whose willingness to study and correct course is rare in an age of unyielding partisanship. As first lady, she rebounded from professional setbacks and personal trials with astounding resilience. Over eight years in the Senate and four as secretary of state, she built a reputation for grit and bipartisan collaboration. She displayed a command of policy and diplomatic nuance and an ability to listen to constituents and colleagues that are all too exceptional in Washington.

Mrs. Clinton’s record of service to children, women and families has spanned her adult life. One of her boldest acts as first lady was her 1995 speech in Beijing declaring that women’s rights are human rights. After a failed attempt to overhaul the nation’s health care system, she threw her support behind legislation to establish the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which now covers more than eight million lower-income young people. This year, she rallied mothers of gun-violence victims to join her in demanding comprehensive background checks for gun buyers and tighter reins on gun sales.”

“As secretary of state, Mrs. Clinton was charged with repairing American credibility after eight years of the Bush administration’s unilateralism. She bears a share of the responsibility for the Obama administration’s foreign-policy failings, notably in Libya. But her achievements are substantial. She led efforts to strengthen sanctions against Iran, which eventually pushed it to the table for talks over its nuclear program, and in 2012, she helped negotiate a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

Mrs. Clinton led efforts to renew diplomatic relations with Myanmar, persuading its junta to adopt political reforms. She helped promote the Trans-Pacific Partnership, an important trade counterweight to China and a key component of the Obama administration’s pivot to Asia. Her election-year reversal on that pact has confused some of her supporters, but her underlying commitment to bolstering trade along with workers’ rights is not in doubt. Mrs. Clinton’s attempt to reset relations with Russia, though far from successful, was a sensible effort to improve interactions with a rivalrous nuclear power.

Mrs. Clinton has shown herself to be a realist who believes America cannot simply withdraw behind oceans and walls, but must engage confidently in the world to protect its interests and be true to its values, which include helping others escape poverty and oppression.

Mrs. Clinton’s husband, Bill Clinton, governed during what now looks like an optimistic and even gentle era. The end of the Cold War and the advance of technology and trade appeared to be awakening the world’s possibilities rather than its demons. Many in the news media, and in the country, and in that administration, were distracted by the scandal du jour — Mr. Clinton’s impeachment — during the very period in which a terrorist threat was growing. We are now living in a world darkened by the realization of that threat and its many consequences.”

“Through war and recession, Americans born since 9/11 have had to grow up fast, and they deserve a grown-up president. A lifetime’s commitment to solving problems in the real world qualifies Hillary Clinton for this job, and the country should put her to work.”

Read more if you can stomach it.

“Falwell said he thought ex-first lady Hillary Clinton was a prime mover behind much of the corruption that permeated the White House during her husband’s tenure.

“You know, Hillary – it’s amazing to me, she not only knew about all these things, Bill Clinton didn’t really have the time to do all those mean things because he would have interrupted his love affairs,” Falwell said.

“I think that it was Hillary all the way. I think that she’s the mean-spirited one. She’s the ideologue, she’s the flaming left-wing socialist liberal. She’s a bad person with a criminal mind.”

The former Moral Majority chief said it was his personal belief that Mrs. Clinton will stay married to her husband only as long as the relationship furthers her own political ambitions.”

“New York Times Left-Winger: Shun Corrupt Clinton

Bob Herbert, identified today by Fox News Channel as the most liberal columnist at the New York Times, is belatedly joining in on the anti-Clinton bandwagon. But his vehemence is making up for his tardiness.

Herbert writes today that the Democratic Party made “the equivalent of a pact with the devil” in supporting Clinton and “in the process it lost its bearings and maybe even its soul.”

“Now, with the stench of yet another scandal polluting the political atmosphere, some of Mr. Clinton’s closest associates and supporters are acknowledging what his enemies have argued for years – the man is so thoroughly corrupt it’s frightening.”

“The Clintons may or may not be led away in handcuffs someday. But whatever happens with the criminal investigations, it’s time for the Democratic Party to wise up. Ostracism would be a good first step. Bill Clinton should be cut completely loose.”

Democratic Party made “the equivalent of a pact with the devil” in supporting Clinton and “in the process it lost its bearings and maybe even its soul”, NewsMax article February 26, 2001, Bob Herbert NY Times

Hillary’s accomplishments.

  1. Hillary enabled Bill in Rapegate which led to the White House and country’s distraction and arguably led to the 9/11 attacks.
  2. Hillary engineered the Commercegate selling of seats in exhange for campaign contributions. This also led to the death of Ron Brown.
  3. ISIS formed and grew under the Obama/Hillary watch.
  4. Benghazi.
  5. The further collapse and subsequent emigration in Syria happened on the Obama/Hillary watch.

The above are perhaps the top 5 Hillary “accomplishments.”

There are plenty more.

“The function of the press is very high. It is almost Holy.

the people may know freely what is going on. To misstate or

…. Louis D. Brandeis

“The (American) press, which is mostly controlled by vested

Are so called journalists getting paid a bonus to go after Trump?

You all have no doubt observed the mainstream media unfairly attack Donald Trump and continue to prop up Obama and Hillary Clinton. It is escalating.

Obama is the biggest liar to ever occupy the White House. He has gone unchallenged by the mainstream media.

The Clintons for the most part, when Slick Willy was president, were minimally challenged.

Hillary, the sociopath, has gotten away with murder.

So Doug Clark, writing in the Greensboro News Record today, took it to the next level, implying what Donald Trump would say if given truth serum.

From the Greensboro News Record July 20, 2016.

“If someone slipped Donald Trump a big dose of truth serum before his speech Thursday night:

Welcome to the greatest reality TV show ever broadcast. I have to tell you, I pulled it off, and even I doubted myself this time.

I did not get into this campaign to win it. Really. It was for publicity. The brand. The name. Trump. Good for business. Mybusiness. It wasn’t ever about becoming president. Believe me.

What do I know about politics? Nothing. I’ve made mistakes that would have sunk the chances of some nobody running for the state legislature.

Just take my slogan: Make America Great Again. Imagine if Barack Obama tried to run on that slogan in 2008. He would have been crucified. Think about it. They would have said, “He’s saying America isn’t great! He hates our country! We’re not going to vote for this guy!” And remember, back in 2008, our country was practically in a depression, but still Obama couldn’t have gotten away with saying America’s not great.

But I can. You love it! You love it when I say our military’s a disaster. You love it when I say I know more about fighting ISIS than our generals do. You love it when I say crime is out of control, and you don’t notice the contradiction when I say our police are doing a great job.

For months and months after I got into this thing, I wasn’t trying to win. Believe me. But you wouldn’t let me lose.”

“So after a while, I figured why not? Why not become president? Maybe it’s no harder than running a campaign. Well, it might be a little harder because you can’t just say stuff when you’re president. You have to do stuff. No matter what I sound like up here, I’m not really an idiot. I’m in business. I know you can’t just say “I’m going to build this building and so-and-so’s going to pay for it.” That doesn’t work in real life. I get that.

I also know it’s not so easy to build a big wall — Rick Perry has told me that — and Mexico sure isn’t going to pay for it. I know I can’t just stop American companies from moving their factories overseas. I wish they wouldn’t but, you know, I manufacture my own products overseas because it’s cheaper. That’s what you do when you’re in business. Duh! Free enterprise!

I’ve promised to build up our military and bomb the hell out of ISIS and protect Social Security, while cutting taxes and still somehow wipe out the deficit. I know that doesn’t make sense, but you don’t.

You don’t even care that I won’t release my taxes. You know why I won’t? Because I’ve never paid my fair share! I’ve got the smartest tax lawyers and accountants and, I admit it, I don’t like to pay taxes. I also don’t make half the charitable gifts I promise.

I’ll tell you another secret. I don’t hate Hillary half as much as you do. We were friends. We’re not friends now, I guess, but there’s nothing really personal going on. Sure, I call her Crooked Hillary, but in my world, if someone is crooked, it doesn’t mean you can’t get along. But you can believe me about this — I think she’d be a lousy president.

So, yeah, I’ve decided I want to be president. I mean, I’ve come this far and I don’t want to let you down. Believe me.

And I’m going to win. I didn’t think so before, but things are turning my way. All this terrorism, and these demonstrations and shootings. The cops being killed. Terrible.

It plays right into my hands: Make America Safe Again. The angrier and more afraid the American people get, the more they’re going to turn to me. And if they’re not angry and afraid yet, I’m going to tell them why they should be — even if I have to make it all about “us against them.” As long as there’s more of us than there are of them, we win.”

Mr. Clark claims at the end that he is going to write the same kind of truth serum article about Hillary.

I did an internet search for truth serum articles by Doug Clark.

I could find none from the past.

Where is his truth serum article about Obama, the biggest liar ever?

And what about Hillary Clinton. She was involved in scandal after scandal with Bill. Ran for POTUS in 2008. Was Secretary of State. Just investigated again.

No truth serum article about Hillary Clinton before now?

To the Greensboro News Record, for giving Obama and Hillary a free ride, for not reporting the truth about the real jobs situation and economy, for not questioning Obama’s eligibility, for lying to your readers and for stooping to a new low to misrepresent Donald Trump, I award 5 Orwells.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”…Joseph Goebbels

“As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of the Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in it’s stead. This process of continuation alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs–to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to be correct; nor was any item of news, or expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to be on record.”…George Orwell, “1984″

Citizen Wells began warning you early in 2008.

Thanks to Zero Hedge for this hard hitting reality based article.

From Zero Hedge June 30, 2015.

“Paul Craig Roberts Rages: Truth Is Now A Crime Against The State”

“The entire Western edifice rests on lies. There is no other foundation. Just lies.

This makes truth an enemy. Enemies have to be suppressed, and thus truth has to be suppressed.

Truth comes from foreign news sources, such as RT, and from Internet sites, such as this one.

Thus, Washington and its vassals are busy at work closing down independent media.

Washington and its vassals have redefined propaganda. Truth is propaganda if it is told by countries, such as Russia and China, that have independent foreign policies.

Propaganda is truth if told by Washington and its puppets, such as the EU Observer.

The EU Observer, little doubt following Washington’s orders, has denounced RT and Sputnik News for “broadcasting fabrications and hate speech from their bureaus in European Union cities.”

Often I appear on both RT and Sputnik. In my opinion both are too restrained in their reporting, fearful, of course, of being shut down, than full truth requires. I have never heard a word of hate speech or propaganda on either. Washington’s propaganda, perhaps, but not the Russian government’s.

In other words, the way Washington has the news world rigged, not even independent news sites can speak completely clearly.

The Western presstitutes have succeeded in creating a false reality for insouciant Americans and also for much of the European Union population.

A sizable percentage of these insouciant peoples believe that Russia invaded Ukranine and that Russia is threatening to invade the Baltic States and Poland. This belief exists despite all intelligence of all Western governments reporting that there is no sign of any Russian forces that would be required for invasion.

The “Russian invasion,” like “Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction and al Qaeda connections,” like “Assad of Syria’s use of chemical weapons against his own people,” like “Iranian nukes,” never existed but nevertheless became the reality in the Western media. The insouciant Western peoples believe in non-existent occurrencies.

In other words, just to state the obvious noncontroversial fact, the Western “news” media is a propaganda ministry from which no truth emerges.

Thus, the Western World is ruled by propaganda. Truth is excluded. Fox “news,” CNN, the NY Times, Washington Post, and all the rest of the most accomplished liars in world history, repeat constantly the same lies. For Washington, of course, and the military/security complex.

War is the only possible outcome of propaganda in behalf of war. When the irresponsible Western media brings Armageddon to you, you can thank the New York Times and the rest of the presstitutes for the destruction of yourself and all your hopes for yourself and your children.”

Warren Buffett Greensboro News Record offer to purchase from Roy Carroll, Rhino Times Owner, News & Record has drifted far left of center in terms of its coverage and stories

“The (American) press, which is mostly controlled by vested
interests, has an excessive influence on public opinion.”… Albert Einstein

“the Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones.”…George Orwell, “1984”

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984”

I already liked Roy Carroll, a local businessman who has played a major role in the revitalization of downtown Greensboro and who resurrected the Rhino Times.

Now I love the man.

From the Rhino Times February 26, 2015.

“A Letter to Mr. Buffett

February 26, 2015

Since resuscitating the Rhino Times, hardly a day has passed without someone asking me to take the Rhino to a daily publication so that they could get fair and balanced local news and editorials.  Since day one of owning the Rhino, I have studied doing just that; however, the thought recently occurred to me that it might be advantageous to just purchase the News & Record.  Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owns the Greensboro News & Record, along with the Winston-Salem Journal and a list of other daily publications across the country.  I believe the News & Record has turned its back on mainstream Greensboro and taken a hard left turn, and, while I don’t know this for a fact, I would surmise that the paper’s readership and ad sales numbers are bound to have taken a downward turn as well.

Under my business plan I would return the News & Record to a “middle of the road” publication, using the Rhino Times to complement the News & Record with its typical political commentary and coverage of city, county and state news.”

“Dear Mr. Buffett:

I first would like to introduce myself.  My name is Roy Carroll and I own several Greensboro businesses, including Snap Publications, the parent company of the Rhino Times, a local weekly news publication.

Speculation is that you are not satisfied with the financial performance of several of your newsprint publications since you acquired them.  If that is correct, I would ask that you seriously consider the enclosed Letter of Intent to Purchase the Greensboro News & Record.

Please understand that this is not a publicity stunt but a bona fide offer.  I have developed a business plan to turn the News & Record around and to hopefully make it a viable business.  The plan involves utilizing the synergies that could be created between both publications being located in the same city, and consolidating senior management, advertising sales and distribution.  I envision changes to the editorial team that would result in potentially the most cost savings and revenue growth.

Over the course of several years, the News & Record, in my opinion, has drifted far left of center in terms of its coverage and stories.  I believe that this drift far to the left has hurt the News & Record in terms of readership and ad sales.  Under my business plan, I would prune back some of the writers that have gone so far left of center and hire writers that were less dogmatic in their far left of center news coverage and opinions.    Don’t get me wrong, I value opposing viewpoints and would promote healthy debates on important topics.  Publishing opposing viewpoints is productive and, in my opinion, a responsibility of a local daily.  Actually, most Greensboro citizens see themselves in the political center.

I’ll give you a classic example of what I’m saying.  I’m sure you have research detailing the unfortunate state of the local Greensboro economy.  Over the last four or five years we have somehow lost our way in terms of job creation and wage growth.  While our peer cities were actively recruiting new businesses on the back side of the recession, Greensboro, in my opinion, had the wrong people and possibly the wrong economic development structure in place.  As a result, there have been virtually no net jobs created in Greensboro.  You would think that a responsible local daily would be all over this issue, regularly writing about the lack of job growth and local economic development, especially since it hurts everyone in our community, including the readers and advertisers that the News & Record relies on.”

I have criticized the News Record as well.

From Citizen Wells February 22, 2015.

“There are numerous variations of the AP January 2015 jobs report from around February 7, 2015.

The Greensboro News Record regurgitated their own version in print. I could not find an online version so the print edition is provided in full below.

The News Record has been diligent in fact checking the employment data and record of the NC Republicans in power but when it comes to Obama and the national economy, anything goes.”

I am disappointed that instead of fact checking the AP article and presenting the truth, they regurgitated it.
