Real unemployment rate, February 6 2010, Jobless claims, More jobs lost, Government surveys, Americans not looking for jobs

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed
–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into
history and became truth. “Who controls the past,” ran the
Party slogan, “controls the future: who controls the present
controls the past.”…George Orwell, “1984″

Yesterday, February 5, 2010, we reported that the supposed latest unemployment rate is 9.7 %, while at the same time unemployment claims rose again for the last week.

“The unemployment rate dropped from 10 percent because a survey of households found the number of employed Americans rose by 541,000, the Labor Department said Friday. The job losses are calculated from a separate survey of employers.

The department also revised its past employment estimates to show that job losses from the Great Recession have been much worse than previously stated. The economy has shed 8.4 million jobs since the downturn began in December 2007, up from a previous figure of 7.2 million.

That’s the most jobs lost in any recession, as a percent of total employment, since World War II.”

“The Labor Department says unemployment claims rose 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 480,000 last week. Economists had predicted claims would drop to 460,000.”

“Stock futures weakened Thursday as a rise in weekly jobless claims damped hopes about a key employment report Friday.”
Real unemployment rate?

From Fox News, February 05, 2010

“The Real Story Behind Our Unemployment Numbers”

“A slight improvement in the jobless rate but what is the government hiding about the picture for most of 2009?”

“Most people seem to believe that the number of Americans with jobs is a clearly identifiable number. All you do is count up the number of people with jobs. Unfortunately, that isn’t the way it works. The number reported each month is based on surveys, and surveys have can often have problems. As it turns out, the surveys estimating the number of people with jobs reported over the last couple of years suffered from some really big problems. The economy actually lost about 824,000 more jobs during the recession than we previously thought.
But those adjustments have so far only been made through March 2009, and there are strong reasons to believe that the survey data since then also needs to be adjusted downward.
There are two ways economists measure the number of jobs, the establishment survey that asks about 370,000 employers how many people they are employing and the household survey that asks about 110,000 people each month whether they are working. The establishment survey is often given more weight because about 40 million Americans work for the companies surveyed, a lot more than the 110,000 people interviewed in the other survey. But 110,000 people still make up a huge sample (remember that a big survey for a presidential election might involve 2,000 people), and it is hard to ignore its results. The household survey is also what is used to calculate the unemployment rate.”

“These recent errors are quite large. The error in estimating the number of jobs from April 2008 to March 2009 was 10 times greater than the average error over the preceding eight years. What does this mean in terms of jobs? Normally the government would underestimate the number of new jobs by 80,000 and this time it was overestimating them by about 800,000.”

Do the government numbers “smell right” to you?

Unemployment rate, February 5 2010, Jobless rate, Weekly claims report, Labor Department, January 2010, November gains?, Obama administration job killing policies, 1984, Orwellian spin, Stocks drop on rise in weekly jobless claims

“The past is whatever the records and the memories agree upon.
And since the party is in full control of all records, and in
equally full control of the minds of it’s members, it follows
that the past is whatever the party chooses to make it. Six
means eighteen, two plus two equals five, war is peace,
freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.”… George Orwell

The Obama camp is often spoke of in Orwellian terms. 1984 manifested. Jobless claims for the past week rise, the stock market reacts unfavorably and suddenly the unemployment rate is 9.7 percent? News reports in George Orwell’s “1984” were constantly altered as a matter of practice to reflect the image and goals of Big Brother. Read the following reports and derive your own conclusions.
From Fox News, February 5, 2010.

“Jobless Rate Falls Unexpectedly to 9.7 Percent in January”

“WASHINGTON – The unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly in January to 9.7 percent, while employers shed 20,000 jobs, according to a report that offered hope the economy will add jobs soon.

The unemployment rate dropped from 10 percent because a survey of households found the number of employed Americans rose by 541,000, the Labor Department said Friday. The job losses are calculated from a separate survey of employers.

The department also revised its past employment estimates to show that job losses from the Great Recession have been much worse than previously stated. The economy has shed 8.4 million jobs since the downturn began in December 2007, up from a previous figure of 7.2 million.

That’s the most jobs lost in any recession, as a percent of total employment, since World War II.

The figure for November was revised higher, however, to show a gain of 64,000 jobs. That was initially reported as a gain of 4,000.”

“The federal government has begun hiring workers to perform the 2010 census, which added 9,000 jobs. That process could add as many as 1.2 million jobs this year, though they will all be temporary.

But job cuts at the state and local levels canceled out those gains, as government employment fell by 8,000.

The construction industry lost more jobs than other sector, dropping 75,000. Most of that loss came from the commercial building sector, the department said.

Still, jobs remain scarce even as the economy is recovering: Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the nation’s output, has risen for two straight quarters. GDP rose by 5.7 percent in the October-December quarter, the fastest pace in six years.

Many economists say businesses are reluctant to add workers because it’s not clear whether the recovery will continue once government stimulus measures, such as tax credits for home buyers, fade this spring.

The debate over health care reform and the scheduled expiration of some Bush administration tax cuts at the end of this year may also hold back some employers, many economists said.”

“Stocks drop as unexpected rise in weekly jobless claims brings concern about economic recovery”

“Stocks are dropping as a rise in weekly jobless claims dampens hopes about a key employment report Friday.

A recovery in employment is seen as the biggest obstacle to a rebound in the economy and the unexpected increase in weekly unemployment claims Thursday is providing a reminder that a recovery will be difficult.

The Labor Department says unemployment claims rose 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 480,000 last week. Economists had predicted claims would drop to 460,000.”

“Stock futures weakened Thursday as a rise in weekly jobless claims damped hopes about a key employment report Friday.

A recovery in employment is seen as the biggest obstacle to a rebound in the economy and the unexpected increase in weekly unemployment claims provided another reminder that a recovery will be difficult. The report reduced expectations that the government’s January jobs report on Friday will show that employers added workers in the first month of the year.”

Blanche Lincoln, Obama Health Care Bill, Public Policy Polling, February 2 2010, Lincoln losing to John Boozman, Arkansas Senate race, Lincoln approval rating 27%

From Public Policy Polling, February 2, 2010.

“Blanche Lincoln Poll”

“John Boozman will enter the Arkansas Senate race this weekend as the frontrunner. He leads incumbent Blanche Lincoln by an amazing 56-33 margin in our first poll of the race.

Lincoln’s approval rating has sunk to just 27%, with 62% of voters in the state disapproving of her. She’s at a middling 51% even within her own party and just 17% of independents and 9% of Republicans are happy with how she’s doing.

A look inside the health care issue gives a good indication of how Lincoln has managed now to get it from all sides. 61% of voters in the state oppose the President’s plan, and among those folks Lincoln’s approval rating is just 8% with 79% of them expressing the belief that she’s too liberal. But she’s managed to antagonize a lot of the people who support the Democratic health care plan as well- 36% of them think she’s too conservative and her approval with them is just 57%. Barack Obama’s at 95% with that same group of voters.

What it all adds up to is Boozman winning 89% of the Republican vote while Lincoln’s at just 68% with Democrats. And Boozman has a 66-20 lead with independents as well.”

Obama college records, Obama campaign contributions, Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, US Constitution, Saudi contributions, Harvard and Columbia paid for by Saudis

Why has Obama employed a legion of private and government attorneys to avoid presenting a legitimate birth certificate and college records?…Citizen Wells and millions of Americans

To anyone who has an agenda, is simple minded, not paying attention or does not care, including, but not limited to, Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck. Obama’s eligibility issues, his intentional withholding of a legitimate birth certificate, college records and other records from his past and his decision to not receive federal matching election funds are all tied up in a web of deception. One cannot refer to one dubious aspect of Obama’s secrecy without bringing to light another. So it is with the hidden birth certificate. Much has been made about the significance of this fact. For people like Glenn Beck, who preach adherance to the US Constitution out of one side of their mouth while insulting concerned Americans who question Obama’s eligibility out of the other. For people like Beck who appear to be either hypocritical or doing the bidding of the Saudis via their ownership of Fox, I am going to make this real simple.

Why has Obama kept hidden his college records?

It is a certainty that the Saudis played a large role in Obama’s education. Just how much? We will be reopening that can of worms. But first let’s revisit contributions to Obama’s presidential campaign and why Obama chose to not receive federal matching funds.

From NewsMax, September 29, 2008.

“Secret, Foreign Money Floods Into Obama Campaign”

“More than half of the whopping $426.9 million Barack Obama has raised has come from small donors whose names the Obama campaign won’t disclose.

And questions have arisen about millions more in foreign donations the Obama campaign has received that apparently have not been vetted as legitimate.

Obama has raised nearly twice that of John McCain’s campaign, according to new campaign finance report.

But because of Obama’s high expenses during the hotly contested Democratic primary season and an early decision to forgo public campaign money and the spending limits it imposes, all that cash has not translated into a financial advantage — at least, not yet.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee began September with $95 million in cash, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

The McCain camp and the Republican National Committee had $94 million, because of an influx of $84 million in public money.

But Obama easily could outpace McCain by $50 million to $100 million or more in new donations before Election Day, thanks to a legion of small contributors whose names and addresses have been kept secret.

Unlike the McCain campaign, which has made its complete donor database available online, the Obama campaign has not identified donors for nearly half the amount he has raised, according to the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP).

Federal law does not require the campaigns to identify donors who give less than $200 during the election cycle. However, it does require that campaigns calculate running totals for each donor and report them once they go beyond the $200 mark.

Surprisingly, the great majority of Obama donors never break the $200 threshold.

“Contributions that come under $200 aggregated per person are not listed,” said Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the FEC. “They don’t appear anywhere, so there’s no way of knowing who they are.”

The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama campaign has identified.

It is the largest pool of unidentified money that has ever flooded into the U.S. election system, before or after the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms of 2002.”

Let’s revisit a Pastor James Manning video.

Glenn Beck, O’Reilly and others who pretend to cover important news, the eligibility issue is either above your comprehension level or US Constitution adherance level or you are purposely avoiding or denigrating it for some agenda. So here it is, simple enough for a third grader.

Why has Obama employed countless attorneys to avoid presenting his college records?

Stay tuned. More to come.

MoveOnMary.org, Senator Mary Landrieu recall initiative, Louisiana Statutes, Recall petitions, Signatures of voters registered on November 4th 2008, US Constitution

Whether the good citizens of Louisiana are successful or not at removing Senator Mary Landrieu from office, it is good to know that concerned citizens are attempting this and that statutes exist to permit it. And yes, I do believe that the 10th Amendment is pertinent.

From the MoveOnMary.org website.

“Is it Possible ?

No doubt, gathering enough signatures to remove a currently seated United States Seantor will be difficult.

Our legislators, no doubt, did not want recall petitions to be used willy-nilly everytime someone gets annoyed by current office holders. They’ve made it difficult enough by requiring at least 33% of the voters who were registered to vote at the time of the office holders election.

What this translates to, in this attempt to remove Mary Landrieu, is the collection of 981,873 signatures of voters who were registered to vote on November 4th 2008. Do we believe this to happen easily? Certainly not. Is it really possible to achieve our goal, given the whole hearted participation of supporters who really want to restore some semblance of sanity with our elected officials? Yes, we really can. Yes, it will take a lot of work, but, it can be done. We certainly would not have ventured into this effort, were it impossible. You can download the voter registration data from the Secretary of State web site at:

http://electionstatistics.sos.louisiana.gov/Data/Post_Election_Statistics/Statewide/2008_1104_sta.pdf.

Well, you’re probably already hearing from the “conservative” nay-sayers already. You may be hearing all kinds of reasons that you should not participate in this effort. I’ve already had a coulple of conversations with “Conservative activists” trying to dissuade me from participationg in this effort. This morning, one gentleman who is a self declared “leader” in the Tea Party movement expressed to me his own reasons why I should give this up already. Some of these I’d like to share with you now.

1) “It can’t be done!”

Sorry, but that defeatest attitude isn’t one of my core attitudes.

2) “It’s never been done before.”

Well, he was correct. Of course, it will never ever be done until someone really tries to get it done.

3) “State law only provides for the recall of State and Local Officials”

When I asked him if he could give me the actual Louisiana Statute he was talking about, he told me that it would take a couple of week to get it to me. But, of course, he did know the statute. Until he gets that information to me, I’ll have to fall back on Louisiana RS 18:1300.1 §1300 (Link). This statute, specifically addressing the recall of elected officials, states, “Any public officer, excepting judges of the courts of record, may be recalled”. Nowhere, could I find in that statute an exception to Federal officials nor anything that would describe a U.S. Senator as something different that a “Public Officer”.

4) “The Supreme Court has already held that States cannot recall U.S. Representatives or Senators.”

Well, again, when I asked for this case to be cited, it couldn’t be. Neither the U.S. nor the Louisiana Supreme Court has ever heard or made a decision concerning the recall of U.S. Represntatives or Senators.

5) “The Constitution doesn’t provide a means to recall U.S. Representatives or Senators”.

True. There are lots of issues that the U.S. Constitution does not address. That’s why our founding fathers later included the 10th Amendment (link). It states simply, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” In simplest terns, since the U.S. Constitution has NOT provided a means for the citizens to remove Representatives or Senators and has NOT forbidden the States or the people from doing so, then it is reserved to the States or the people. Fortunately, Louisiana is one of the 18 states that have passed laws providing for the recalling of “Any public officer” other than judges. U.S. Representatives and Senators or NOT judges, so can be recalled.

6) “The 10th Amendment forbid it.”

The Tenth Amendment of which Constitution? See note 5.

7) “Constitution experts have …..”

Sorry, but Constitutional experts are simply people like you and I, who have opinions. Some have the opinion that it can be done, some have the opinion that it can’t be done.

Thoughout the internet, in the social networking groups, in the blogs, etc., there have been many who have made a lot of noise about recalling Mary Landrieu. Up until now, I’m sure it has been an amusement to her ilk. On December 29, 2009, Someone finally did something about it and filed the petition with the Secretary of Sate’s office. I for one am enthusiastically joining in the effort and will never look back.

Legally, we CAN recall Mary Landrieu. Ethically and morally, we CAN recall Mary Landrieu. Ethically and morally, we SHOULD recall Mary Landrieu. I can promise, if we accomplish this daunting task, it will have a snowball effect in Baton Rouge AND Washington, Nay-sayers notwithstanding. One thing is a fact, however, as long as we continue to roll over and play victim, we will continue to be made fools out of by the likes of Mary Landrieu. Attending meetings and rallies, waving banners and placards and making a lot of noise changes NOTHING … if we do nothing else to change things. Louisiana voters are blessed with the statutes allowing us to recall public officials who are derelict in their duty, and we should take advantage of those laws. Yes, laws do mean something … as long as we use those laws.

I want to do something about the problems in Washington. What about you?”

LA City firefighters aid Haiti, FEMA, Port o Prince in ruins, Ineptitude, Criminal neglect, 200000 dead, UN Anti American, USAID Obamaites and Communists

I received the following email a short while ago from a dependable source. I have no further verification except that the LA City firefighters did in fact go to Haiti. If anyone has any supporting details, please provide them.

“To All,

I just returned from Haiti with xxxxxxx. We flew in at 3 AM Sunday to the scene of such incredible destruction on one side, and enormous ineptitude and criminal neglect on the other.

Port o Prince is in ruins. The rest of the country is fairly intact. Our team was a rescue team and we carried special equipment that locates people buried under the rubble.  There are easily 200,000 dead; the city smells like a charnel house. The bloody UN was there for 5 years doing apparently nothing but wasting US Taxpayers money. The ones I ran into were either incompetent or outright anti-American. Most are French or French speakers, worthless every damn one of them. While 1800 rescuers were ready, willing and able to leave the airport and go do their jobs, the UN and USAID  (another organization full of little Obamaites and Communists that openly speak against America). These two organizations exemplified their parochialism by:

USAID, when in control of all inbound flights, had food and water flights stacked up all the way to Miami, yet allowed Geraldo Rivera, Anderson Cooper and a host of other left wing news puppies to land.

Pulled all the security off the rescue teams so that Bill Clinton and his wife could have the grand tour, whilst we sat unable to get to people trapped in the rubble.

Stacked enough food and water for the relief over at the side of the airfield then put a guard on it while we dehydrated and wouldn’t release a drop of it to the resuers.

No shower facilities to decontaminate after digging or moving corpses all day, except for the FEMA teams who brought their own shower and decon equipment, as well as air conditioned tents.

No latrine facilities, less digging a hole.  If you set up a shitter, everyone was trying to use it.

I watched a 25 year old Obamaite with the USAID shrieking hysterically, berate a full bird colonel in the Air Force because he countermanded her orders whilst trying to unscrew the air pattern.  ” You don’t know what your president wants!  The military isn’t in charge here!  We are!”

If any of you are thinking of giving money to the Haitian relief, or to the UN, don’t waste your money. It will only go to further the goals of the French and the Liberal left.

If we are a fair and even society, why is it that only white couples are adopting Haitian orphans? Where the hell is that vocal minority that is always screaming about the injustice of American society?

Bad place, bad situation, but a perfect look at the new world order in action. New Orleans magnified a thousand times. Haiti doesn’t need democracy.  What Haiti needs is Papa Doc. That’s not just my opinion, that is what virtually every Haitian we talked with said. The French run the UN and treat us the same as when we were a colony.  At least Papa Doc ran the country.

Oh, and as a last slap in the face, the last four of us had to take US AIRWAYs home from Phoenix. They slapped me with a 590 dollar baggage charge for the four of us. The girl at the counter was almost in tears because she couldn’t give us a discount or she would lose her job. Pass that on to the flying public.”

News of the LA Firefighters trip

From laist, January 12, 2010.

” Just three hours after the large 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti just before 2 p.m. PST, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel are already mobilizing in case they are needed to fly out and offer aid. The 72-member team, made up of Urban Search and Rescue specialists, is referred to as California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2).”

From the Examiner, January 18, 2010.

“In Los Angeles, where earthquakes are inately on the minds of area residents, actions speak louder than words. So, when the Haiti catastrophe struck, the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Task Force 2 Search and Rescue team immediately readied for their trip to the devastated Caribbean naiton.

After several days of waiting to deloy, 72 highly trained professionals traveled to the Haiti to help in search-and-rescue efforts. Among those now in Haiti to help are firefighters, paramedics, rescue specialists, emergency room physicians, structural engineers, heavy equipment specialists, search dogs and handlers, hazardous material technicians, communications specialists, and logistics experts

“… these guys are… over there to be self-sufficient,” Los Angeles County Fire Department inspector Frederic Stowers said. “They’ll be working together. If necessary, they’ll coordinate with members of the U.S. Embassy in Haiti for translators. But these guys are trained to be self-reliant.”

Along with the search-and-rescue team now in Haiti, supplies that traveled along with these experts included 55,000 pounds of prepackaged tools and medical equipment to conduct help throughout the day and night.”

Obama narcissism, Barack Obama narcissistic impulses, Not about me, This isn’t about me, Obama lies, Radical socialist associations

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”… William Shakespeare “Hamlet”

Everything that Barack Obama does can be explained by the following:

Narcissism

Lies

Radical and  socialist associations

David Limbaugh wrote an excellent article about Obama’s narcissism on January 25, 2010.

“‘It’s Not About Me’ — Wink, Wink”

“The more painful exposure we have to Barack Obama — and we’re talking hyper-exposure at this point — the more we realize how narcissistic he is. Indeed, we are treated to this overexposure precisely because of his narcissistic impulses. He can’t keep himself out of the spotlight.
So it was that on the heels of his crushing personal defeat in the Massachusetts senatorial election last week, Obama’s principal reaction was, “This isn’t about me.”

When someone says that one time or a few times, you might believe him. But when he says it repeatedly (see below), you have to conclude he is protesting too much and means just the opposite.”

“His entire domestic and foreign policy agenda is so much about him that he insists on cramming it down our throats even though the polls overwhelmingly indicate that we Americans do not want it and, more importantly, that it is bankrupting this nation and making us less safe. That’s not selflessness. It’s self-indulgence and conceit to an obscene degree. He is so brainwashed in Marxist and appeasement ideologies that he continues to believe in their maxims in the face of their historical failure and of the miserable failure of his own agenda in the here and now. He is so convinced he knows better than we do what is in our best interests that he must thwart our ignorant will.”

“–On Feb. 15, 1990, after becoming “the first black president of the influential Harvard Law Review,” Obama said, “I realized my election was not about me, but it was about us, about what we could do and what we could accomplish.”
–On Nov. 2, 2004, when Obama visited the campus of the University of Illinois during his campaign for U.S. senator, he said: “Ultimately, this election is not about me. … It’s about the willingness of our citizens to get engaged and get involved.”
–On Dec. 11, 2006, in a speech in New Hampshire, Obama said, “It’s not about me.” But, according to an NPR reporter, “it really is all about him.”
–On Dec. 10, 2007, Obama said, “This campaign is not about me; it is about the hundreds of volunteers … in Rhode Island … and the millions of people across the country who want change we can believe in.”
–On Dec. 14, 2007, when asked about a New Year’s resolution, Obama said he needed to keep reminding himself, “This is not about me.”
–On Aug. 28, 2008, Obama said in his acceptance speech, “This election has never been about me; it’s about you.”
–On July 20, 2009, Obama said (exactly as he repeated following the Massachusetts election): “This isn’t about me. This isn’t about politics. This is about a health care system that is breaking America’s families, breaking America’s businesses and breaking America’s economy.”
Whom do you think it’s about?”

Obama State of the Union Address, January 27, 2010, Jobs, New Jobless Claims, Obama lies, Campaign promises vs reality, New jobs bill, Insanity, Fantasy, Reality

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”…Albert Einstein

Fantasy

From the State of the Union speech, January 27, 2010, Fox News reports.

“Renewing Promise of ‘Change,’ Obama Tries to Reset Agenda”
“The road to restoring public confidence in Washington and in his ability to lead it starts Thursday in Tampa, where Obama will hold a town hall meeting and discuss federal investment in mass transit. The visit comes as the president vows to make the economy and jobs creation his top focus in 2010, while continuing to press ahead with his ambitious agenda on everything ranging from health care reform to education to immigration reform.”

“But the centerpiece of Obama’s address was jobs creation. The president called on Congress to pass a new jobs bill right away, telling the Senate to pass something similar to the bill passed by the House last year as its “first order of business.”

“People are out of work. They’re hurting. They need our help. And I want a jobs bill on my desk without delay,” Obama said.”

“Obama said the “devastation” of the economic crisis remains, but also defended his approach so far, saying his administration acted “immediately and aggressively” to stave off a “second depression.”

The president emphasized that conditions would be worse if his administration and Congress had not approved the stimulus package last February. He said the package has saved 2 million jobs.”

Reality

From Fox News, January 28, 2010.
“New Jobless Claims Drop Less Than Expected”

“WASHINGTON — The number of newly laid-off workers claiming unemployment benefits fell less than expected last week, fresh evidence the job market remains a weak spot in the economic recovery.

The Labor Department said Thursday that first-time jobless claims dropped by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 470,000. Analysts had expected a steeper drop to 450,000, according to Thomson Reuters.

The four week average, which smooths out volatility, rose for the second straight week to 456,250. The average had fallen for 19 straight weeks before starting to rise. That decline had given some analysts hope the economy would soon generate net job gains.

Two weeks ago, claims surged by 34,000 due to administrative backlogs left over from the holidays in the state agencies that process the claims, a Labor Department analyst said. Those delays may still be affecting the data, the analyst said.

That means the current figures could be artificially inflated. At the same time, it would also mean that the steep drop in claims in late December and early January was also exaggerated by the backlogs.”

“But the so-called continuing claims do not include millions of people who have used up the regular 26 weeks of benefits typically provided by states, and are receiving extended benefits for up to 73 additional weeks, paid for by the federal government.”

US debt limit, Senate debate, $ 14.3 Trillion, China $ 800 billion, Japan, Oil exporting countries, Senator Richard Burr, NC senator, Terminate TARP amendment, Pay down national debt

From Senator Richard Burr of NC, January 25, 2010.

“Dear Friend,
Last week, the Senate began debate on increasing our nation’s debt limit by $1.9 trillion.  This would permit our total debt to climb to $14.3 trillion – the highest in our nation’s history.  I will not support any measure to increase America’s debt.  It is outrageous to consider shackling future generations with the impossibility of ever paying off such a sum.
American families must live within their budget, and the most reasonable way to stop adding to the debt is to stop Washington’s appetite for spending.  The federal government, however, doesn’t understand what it means to cut spending and prioritize in order to keep our country solvent.  Instead, the preferred answer is simply to raise the limit on how much debt is allowed. We will never see responsible and accountable government as long as this attitude prevails.
Did you know that China now holds some $800 billion of our debt?  Japan holds another $750 billion.  Oil exporting countries hold almost $200 billion.  Is this the way we should be operating our government?  Not in my opinion.
The way to deal with our current budgetary situation is to stop spending, plain and simple. My voting record is clear on this subject.  And I will continue to vote against legislation that involves out-of-control expenditures and against irresponsible budgets.
Last Thursday, I co-sponsored an amendment with Senator John Thune that would have terminated the TARP program as a means to stop any future expenditure of funds not already spent. This bill would also have required any TARP repayments be used to pay down the national debt.  This amendment received 53 votes in the Senate – including 13 Democrats.  But, under Senate rules, 60 votes were required for its adoption, so it failed.
The Senate will resume debate on this legislation this week.  You can rest assured that I will be fighting to stop this before we bankrupt America.
If you agree with my position on this and other issues, would you consider making a contribution to my campaign this week?  As we head into the last week of the month, I need to ask for your help in order to meet my goal for January.  If you would send $25 or $50 it would let me know that you stand with me in this fight to stop spending and to control our debt.  Just click here to make your contribution.
I want to keep fighting for you in the U.S. Senate.  This means my campaign must raise the funds necessary for this year’s election. Please consider making a contribution today.
Whether you can send a contribution or not, I’ll be on the job this week voting to stop this increase in our national debt.  It is wrong, and we must send a strong signal to those in charge in Washington that enough is enough.
Sincerely,

Richard Burr
United States Senator”

Obama Ohio speech, January 22, 2010, Jobs speech, Unemployment Up in 43 States in December, Lies, Narcissism, Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Ohio job losses

While Obama was giving a  jobs speech, Friday afternoon, January 22, 2010 at Lorain County Community College
in Elyria, Ohio, a government report indicated that unemployment was up in 43 States in December. Consistent with Obama’s past and personality, Obama’s speech is driven by Lies and Narcissism. Commentary is provided by Karl Rove, Sean Hannity and Citizen Wells.

Fox News unemployment report, January 22, 2010.

“Unemployment Up in 43 States in December”

“WASHINGTON — Unemployment rates rose in 43 states last month, the government said Friday, painting a bleak picture of the job market and illustrating nationwide data released two weeks ago.
The rise in joblessness was a sharp change from November, when 36 states said their unemployment rates fell. Four states — South Carolina, Delaware, Florida and North Carolina — reported record-high jobless rates in December.
New Jersey’s rate, meanwhile, rose to a 33-year high of 10.1 percent while New York’s reached a 26-year high of 9 percent.
Analysts said the report showed the economy is recovering at too weak a pace to generate consistent job creation.
“A lot of states that had started to add jobs (in November) gave up those gains in December,” said Sophia Koropeckyj, managing director at Moody’s Economy.com.”

“Texas lost the second-most jobs: 23,900. That sent its jobless rate to 8.3 percent in December from 8 percent. The next-largest job losses were in Ohio, Illinois and Michigan.”

Obama Ohio speech text

“Today, because of the actions we took, the worst of this economic storm has passed. But families like yours and communities like Elyria are still reeling from the devastation left in its wake. Folks have seen jobs you thought would last forever disappear. You’ve seen plants close and businesses shut down. I’ve heard about how the city government here is bare bones. And how you can’t get to work or go buy groceries like you used to because of cuts in the county transit system.”

“Let me tell you – so long as I have the privilege of serving as your President, I’ll never stop fighting for you. I’ll take my lumps, too. I’ll never stop fighting to bring jobs back to Elyria. I’ll never stop fighting for an economy where hard work is rewarded, where responsibility is honored, where accountability is upheld, where we’re creating the jobs of tomorrow.”

“I’ll never stop fighting to open up government. That’s why we put in place the toughest ethics laws and toughest transparency rules of any administration in history.”
