“WASHINGTON — Unemployment rates rose in 43 states last month, the government said Friday, painting a bleak picture of the job market and illustrating nationwide data released two weeks ago.
The rise in joblessness was a sharp change from November, when 36 states said their unemployment rates fell. Four states — South Carolina, Delaware, Florida and North Carolina — reported record-high jobless rates in December.
New Jersey’s rate, meanwhile, rose to a 33-year high of 10.1 percent while New York’s reached a 26-year high of 9 percent.
Analysts said the report showed the economy is recovering at too weak a pace to generate consistent job creation.
“A lot of states that had started to add jobs (in November) gave up those gains in December,” said Sophia Koropeckyj, managing director at Moody’s Economy.com.”
“Texas lost the second-most jobs: 23,900. That sent its jobless rate to 8.3 percent in December from 8 percent. The next-largest job losses were in Ohio, Illinois and Michigan.”

I heard on Fox today that J.D. Hayworth has resigned today from his radio program. Says he’s not formally announcing a run for the senate that he’s moving forward to challenge John McCain.
Just my luck-my new Time came today-Obama on the cover. Needed to watch the news to catch up on what’s going on in Haiti-more people recovered-the Israeli team, and the team from Greece. I think one young 22 year old guy was pulled from the hotel where the Americans from the University near by are still missing-he said he could hear some people.
Then Obama came on-with his new populist thing he’s doing now. They are going to re-hire the campaign guy who helped him win-David Plouffe. I doubt those tricks will work a second time, plus the Republicans are fighting back, and the Dems are fighting amongst themselves. All Republicans have to do to win against these idiots is: get a good/great candidate-fiscal responsibility should be the message-run on the issues-take the high road (you can be sure they won’t)-if all else fails-mention Obama’s sterling record of one year in office. I think Scott laid out a good blueprint for others to follow.

I happen to live in Wexler’s district, and it wouldn’t be amazing to me at all. Obama support among all my retired Jewish friends started out weak (they were all Hillary fans) and has eroded into very vocal opposition and contempt over the past year. I don’t know. During the Presidential Election, we were all waiting for the “October Surprise.” It never came.
Sure…they have a library full of evidence, but will they use it?
The Republican Party is as fractured as the Democratic Party is IMHO. They have already refused to back Hoffman in NY23 and Brown in MA. It took the “heavy hitters” until the last week before the MA Special Election to make appearances…maybe, that was strategy, but I just don’t know.
We have to back individual candidates with Conservative values and not just Republicans IMHO. Lately, there is no telling who the Repubs will back…they turned their back on the Conservatives in 2008…will they do it again?
Please…tell me what you think…I want to be positive, but I have my doubts.

I think the country both parties are looking for leaders-it’s an ephemeral thing I know but when you see it you know it. For example: General Patton-he gave an order-you followed it. I think leadership is a natural, innate ability-I don’t have it, my brother did. All the kids in the neighborhood did what he told them. I was different-I always went my own way and did my own thing.
What both parties have in government today is career politicians-part of the problem-worse some have been in there far too long. Shaking up the whole system would not be bad for a start-water will seek it’s own level.
I think there are many honest men/women in there that are just doing their jobs day by day, getting crushed by these jerks who are just users. They will rise to the occasion.
Perfect candidate-there is none and it is not fair to expect one. I liked Scott’s campaign since it was issues oriented and not in the mud. Just be the best person that you can be, be honest with the citizens. I think the rest will follow.

The truth is Obama has always been out of touch. As long as he had the full support of both Dems and Repubs and millions of dollars they could prop him up, tell him what to say, plant fawning fans in the audience (or doctors whichever the case may be) and voila, a president was concocted, not born.
But people like Obama, whose sense of himself depends heavily on the adulation of the masses, unravel in its absence.
Remember when he said “failure is not an option”? That’s a much deeper statement than it appears.
It means that political failure is an unfathomable assault, the likes of which one can never emerge whole again. We are now witnessing his fragmentation and it will get worse.

With great concern, venice, I believe you’re right. Witnessing self destruction of a friend or a colleague or family member is tough to watch, but watching a leader of our nation “fragment” before our very eyes is going to be an experience I don’t think I’m quite prepared for.
I’ve often wondered how deep his true support really was. Those Chavez machines ensured a hollow win. I’ve never believed blacks in this country voted 80 or 90% for him. No way. We were played by this false meme. And then throw in ACORN invisible voters and I’ve never been convinced he actually won. Sure kool aid drinking D’s voted for him but I have never been convinced that they bought into the Coca Cola campaign. Too many of us Indy’s voted no. Something has never felt right about his win.
Thus, the fragmentation you so eloquently stated is of a man that is losing support by voters in droves, is completely out of touch with American’s, is surrounded by corrupt and selfish operatives and lacks all ability to empathize or feel emotions that build one’s character. It’s going to be painful to watch BUT at the same time, I am anxious for this nightmare to come to an end.

I completely agree with you. In fact I have stated this several times on this blog, that the artifice of his victory was too blatant. But I guess I include his victory as part of the political machinery that allowed him to call himself president. Now it’s gone. I’ve never supported him, but I don’t relish watching his torment either.

I’m going to go one step further and say that Obama has clearly been played as a patsy just as Tarpley described. I did elaborate on this in an earlier post, but the picture is emerging much more clearly now. This is why Bernanke and Geithner are in vulnerable positions. Last I heard Rahm may be gone soon too.
While I’m pleased about Brown, he made quite a precipitous entry, not unlike Obama himself, and I have to wonder about that as well.
The South – you are most welcome. I too have lost many critters and look forward to the day I cross that bridge with my pack.
We have two dogs and a cat now. We rescued the cat when he was maybe six weeks old. He was less than a pound and was near death. We found him in the middle of the road w/an eighteen wheeler bearing down on him. We slowed the truck to a stop and picked that kitten up and he’s been a lover dover ever since.
We got a very dopey and most loving lab from the SPCA. Whoever had him before us took care of him but he had major socialization and many other issues. After a year of working with him, he finally attached and things started to click. He’s been my buddy since.
And then my other dog used to live next door to us but moved in after her owner passed away. No kidding. She adopted us. She’d stay w/us two or three nights a week while her dad went out of town. Finally one night, she decided to come home with me rather than staying at her house with her owner. I sat down on the edge of the bed where she was sleeping and told her it was time to make up her mind where she wanted to live. She never went home after that. The owner that inherited her was most grateful.
So we either find them or they find us. I’ve always been a huge animal lover and losing one is very painful. Our kids are our animals. We have no kids so they fill a hole for us. Love em with all my heart and am grateful everyday that they have graced our lives.

Yes, from the victory on Tuesday to my own tragedy on Wednesday, it’s been an unusual week.
Glad you liked the field reports; sometimes, that’s the only was to gage what’s really going on, as the media doesn’t report much.
When your human family is all gone, something else must take their place. For me, it’s rescuing homeless pets who may be put down otherwise. I’ve been combing New England/eastern NY for a senior or adult female piggie; I will travel. The one I found at the SPCA today was already adopted by the time I got there. I will continue the search with my pal who runs a g.p. rescue in CT, which is where mine came from. I will get my existing female a nice friend soon.

Tarpley is a very insightful individual. Patsy is correct. One has to know that they are being used sooner or later, don’t they? Then again, we’re talking about 0 here. In some way, I think this is why he’s living high. He knows his time of freedom is ticking away. He has too. You don’t usurp the POTUS and think you can get away with it.
I’m watching Brown. The whole idea of him running for Prez in 2012 is silly. He’d be a fool to make such a move. Sure, the electorate is thrilled he won, but now he has to build his resume. Let’s wait and see what his committee assignments are. He needs to pay his dues and build his story. He’s not ready for prime time and something tells me he knows it. Strikes me as a very humbled man. We’ll have to wait and see though. Lots can happen b/w now and then.
Communist Goals for Taking Over the USA were written in 1963 and read to Congress. You will be amazed at how many are in play right now. It is a real eye opener. I just posted it. As you will see, they are covering all the bases.
We have our work cut out for us to stop this train wreck of an administration and all their interrelated organizations.

I have never seen a braver soul than little Mimi-marching right up to the buns and literally taking the lettuce out of their mouths. No fear.
She did have a surgical history and arthritis in her knees (discovered by X-ray in 2009) so that may have set her up for bad health as she got older.
At least I had her for 2.5 years and I look at it this way: How my life was enriched and made so much better just by having known her for that short time.

May I add my condolences on your loss. So very sad.
At Mass tonight we received some very good news. Father was stationed there for 5 years and they have been able to locate many of their friends, and family members. Father said the palace of the president was a very beautiful building-the cathedral will probably never be rebuilt-I think much too expensive by today’s standards. Most of the nuns and priests and orphans have been found, the most deaths were seminarians. More people found today in the rubble. I am so glad the whole world is seeing Haiti for what it really is. Father said it is so beautiful there, forests, mountains, oceans-I’m sure people will want to come back and help with the rebuilding. One of Haiti’s major problems other than the earthquake is deforestation therefore erosion, and just coming out from too many years of corrupt governments. Another lesson for the world.
God rest the Archbishops soul, he was much loved by the people.

Having spent the day researching the very strange story of the Ellie Light letters and reading the latest at lamecherry, an idea occurred to me. My local paper is The Sacramento Bee. They did not print the letter, but that does not mean that they were not contacted. They have not covered the story. I just sent this to the editor of the letters to the editor section:

I think leadership is a natural, innate ability-I don’t have it, my brother did. All the kids in the neighborhood did what he told them. I was different-I always went my own way and did my own thing.

Venice, the big difference between Scott Brown and Barky Obama is that the latter is a legend in his own mind. He went into the campaign as the Messiah, and hasn’t he fallen flat on that one?
Scott, on the other hand, ran on one sentence: ‘Im Scott Brown, I’m from Wrentham, I drive a truck, and I want to be your next U.S. Senator.’
That was it. No delusions of grandeur or B.S. coming from this guy. What you see is what you get.
Sure, he does have to prove himself in the next few years, but I’m looking at this as an attitudinal difference, among other things. That’ll be Scott’s success; the same can’t be said for the other one.

O my gosh you’re right, I saw that on TV, the animals know-they feel-it was gorillas. So beautiful and loving, they knew.
My neighbor had guinea pigs, so I was petting it-not knowing they have sharp little teeth. Yep, it got me-right through the nail. Then it looks up at you all innocent and everything. It hurt but I had to laugh, smart guinea pig-dumb human.

I remember Mr. Walpin well, that’s what I mean about strong laws. Nobody gets near this person-investigation begins-it was an Obama buddy involved with a school and funding-possibly a university. Mr Walpin should have never been fired. I think they are working on his case now.

Leave the Health Care System as it is and only solve the case of few people who don’t have any. Don’t buy in the Cap and Trade Scam. Work on pollution but not on the climate. Get rid of lobbies in D.C. and put limits on campaign’s funds. There is so much to do to correct the situation and you can be sure that neither Dems or Reps will do it.
I KNOW what I am talking about. We have the same situation in Canada. The people elects the Liberal Party and are deceived by them, so they elect the Conservative Party and they are deceived once again. And the merry-go-round goes on and on, till “ad nauseam, ad vitam æternam”. We NEED a third Party, but we don’t have one that has some balls… or even some ideas.
In America you are lucky, you have some choices. The “Constitution Party” is exactly what you need. But you all say it can’t win. Of course, if you keep saying this, it will never happen. I believe it CAN win. If I was an American I would vote for them.
You say it will divide the votes and the Dems will win. So what? Both parties are useless anyway. Why do you think they win and lose repeatedly? It is because no one is ever satisfied with either one of them. Even if the Democrat Party wins, at least the Opposition will be composed of Republicans and Constitutionalists Congressman and Senators. The Constitutionalist Congressmen and Senators will make sure that the eligibility issue will be raised and they will see that this matter goes to Court. You will have cut the HEAD of the snake and the Dems will be rendered moot. And maybe in the next election, the Constitution Party will win.

I certainly knew that Obama was a fraud and attempted to post that information everywhere I could. I was mostly mocked and scorned.
I still am doing that at thehuddle.com – a fantasy football site. (I figure I should spend some time trying to educate the clueless.) Re: Scott Brown. Being very very happy that Scott Brown won his electon, I would not want him running for President. He isn’t Conservative enough and we all know how that worked out for McCain. I definitely held my nose and voted for him and many others didn’t vote at all.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that Scott Brown won in MA…it’s really a dream come true. But The Republican party is supposed to be the Conservative party. So while I am totally behind Brown to do his thing and be himself representing the people of MA, a Conservative needs to be at the head of the Republican party. Otherwise it will be hi-jacked in the same manner as the Dem party.
There’s not a whole lot to fear with a true Conservative because they are for SMALL gov’t. It’s in their nature.
And this isn’t about being a “purist” on my part. If you knew how I felt about individual issues, you would know that. If I were a purist, I would not have supported Scott Brown for Senate. If I were a purist, I would not want a VERY Conservative person in the WH, but I feel this is best for the Country in keeping both balance AND small gov’t.

Christians should go on the offensive against anything that doesn’t have a cross because that place could be “promoting” atheism and fight to put a cross there to balance things out and uphold our freedom of expression and freedom of religion.
Anywhere that there is no cross or a mention of God, is a sign of non-believers and a promotion of atheism.

The Party name does not necessarily make a party. I for one, feel that no matter the name, we need to elect those that follow the Constitution to the letter. First, for sometime, the republicans felt it was in their best interest to relax the views on the Constitution in order to gain support. This was a mistake and they have paid greatly for it. Second, the unending terms that they are serving, has destroyed any means for control over legislation. It is now time for all Americans to bond together in individual states and get bills voted on to set term limits for those that are elected to the US Senate & US House Rep. Term Limits that will match the term Limits of the Presidency, will stop the sell out of America and its Citizen . Party names only define whether you are right or left and a Third Party will only divide the vote not change it. If people really get involved, the Rich Good Ole Boys can be replaced at the top of the party to give the grass roots a voice as to what the party stands for. It can and must be done. The Constitutional Party is Ron Paul. Next Question, How well has Ron Paul stuck by the Constitution pertaining to OBAMA. Yes, the FED needs to be investigated, and more than likely several connected people arrested, however that is only one issue, TRANSPARENCY in Govt., as a whole is the major issue we face today and party name will not change that.
