Patriot Michele Bachmann

Vs

Politicians Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid

Politicians Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and the Democratic controlled Congress are attempting to ram the Obama socialist Health Care Bill down the throats of the American public. Patriot stateswoman, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, is trying to stop passage of a government run Health Care Program. Michele Bachmann will confront Pelosi and Congress on the steps of the Capitol Building on Thursday, November 5, 2009. We must support Bachmann.

Regardless of what the out of control Congress does, we must get rid of Reid and Pelosi. Harry Reid can be voted out of office in 2010. Whether or not Pelosi can be voted out of office, since she represents one of the most liberal parts of the country, does not matter. We can change Congress and remove her as Speaker of the House. That is very doable.

Let’s focus on Harry Reid and his involvement in chicanery and constitutionally shady activites, attempting to force socialist health care upon us.

Over the past several months, the makeup of the senate and the number of senators required to pass a Health Care Bill has been talked about and analyzed. Two numbers, 50 and 60, have been frequently mentioned.  The following explains what Harry Reid and his cohorts are attempting to do (recent events may make even this difficult to achieve).

From the US House rules

“THE BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROCESS
In the Senate, total debate on a reconciliation bill is limited to 20 hours, although the actual time for consideration of the omnibus package often exceeds this time limit set in the Budget Act. Motions and amendments may be offered and considered without debate at the end of this time period. There are also restrictions on the content of a reconciliation package and on the amendments which may be offered to it. For example, any amendment to the bill that is not germane, would add extraneous material, would cause deficit levels to increase, or that contains recommendations with respect to the Social Security program, is not in order. The Budget Act also maintains that reconciliation provisions must be related to reconciling the budget. For example, section 313 of the Budget Act, more commonly known as the “Byrd Rule”, provides a point of order in the Senate against extraneous matter in reconciliation bills. Determining what is extraneous is often a procedural and political quagmire navigated in part by the Senate Parliamentarian. The Byrd Rule and other points of order in the Budget Act may only be waived in the Senate by a three-fifths vote. Furthermore, the Budget Act prevents reconciliation legislation from being filibustered on the Senate floor.”

From Patriot’s Network, Dick Morris

“Once Obama’s plan fails to attract 60 votes, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will fall back on reconciliation as a strategy and hope for 50 votes. But if the Democrats pass the bill with 50 votes, it will set a precedent they may come to rue. It would basically eliminate the filibuster as a parliamentary tactic and would condemn any future minority party (Democrats in 2011?) to the same irrelevance as afflicts their House colleagues. To be in the minority in a chamber run by a bare majority is not a fun task.”

From the Las Vegas Review Journal October 18, 2009

“If Harry Reid decides to use the Senate’s “reconciliation” process to ram health care legislation through his chamber and crush a filibuster, then he’ll have to reconcile something else: his astounding hypocrisy.

The majority leader from Nevada is working behind closed doors to merge health care bills passed by the Senate’s health and finance committees. He desperately wants to come up with something that can get 60 votes — the number needed to halt any attempt by minority Republicans to block a final vote on the massive expansion of federal authority.

Although Reid has 60 votes in his caucus, it might be an impossible task. Moderate Democrats oppose a “public option” that allows the government to sell health insurance and undercut private-sector providers, and far-left Democrats are insisting that any bill include the first step toward nationalized health care.

So Reid has let it be known that wrangling over the public option might compel him to go with the “nuclear option”: ending a filibuster without 60 votes.

To do that, Reid would have to use a parliamentary maneuver called “budget reconciliation.” Votes on the federal budget are exempt from filibusters. If he takes this route, Reid would have to pretend the legislation is a simple matter of fiscal housekeeping — a routine issue that needs just 51 votes to pass.

Given the complexity and controversy surrounding new health insurance mandates and regulations, such an end-around would be unprecedented.”

“”The filibuster is a critical tool in keeping the majority in check,” Reid continued. “This central fact has been acknowledged and even praised by senators from both parties. …”

“The right to extended debate is never more important than when one party controls Congress and the White House. …”

“Some in this Chamber want to throw out 217 years of Senate history in the quest for absolute power. They want to do away with Mr. Smith coming to Washington. They want to do away with the filibuster. They think they are wiser than our Founding Fathers. I doubt that’s true.””

“In other words, the filibuster is “a critical tool in keeping the majority in check” when Democrats are in the minority, but it’s a disposable relic when liberals are trying to run up the national debt and regulate our economy to death.”

“But if he decides to take the filibuster out back and shoot it, he risks incurring even more wrath from Nevada voters, who already are growing tired of his expedience and pandering to the far left. A Review-Journal poll conducted this month found 54 percent of registered Nevada voters don’t want Reid to use reconciliation to pass sweeping health insurance regulations. Only 32 percent approve of the tactic.

“If he does that, he is resigning himself to not being re-elected (in 2010),” said Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., which conducted the poll.

If he does that, no amount of explaining, no amount of convenient forgetting will save Hypocrite Harry.”

Nevada citizens speak out on Reid

“He (Reid) and Pelosi have totally destroyed this country,” said Elouise Joyner of Bullhead City. “I have no idea what their agenda is, but it’s not an American agenda,” she said. “There’s nobody that wants this stupid health care bill, yet he’s going to push it.”

“I don’t think he should be returned (to office) because I don’t believe in his philosophy,” said Jeannie Norris of Mesquite, Nev. “I don’t want more taxes.”

“He hasn’t done anything for Nevada,” said Norris’ husband, Jim, “and he just doesn’t represent me and he doesn’t believe in what I believe in.””

From Defeat Read 2010

“There is a lot of work to do before the Mid Term elections in 2010 and not much time to do it. If you have a little extra time, we are looking for volunteers to lend a hand in this effort.
As a darling of the left, Harry Reid is the one most well funded candidates in the Senate and that is just his own campaign war chest. So far he has over 7 million dollars as of his last quarterly report. He will also be aided by every left wing special interest group in America.

The DNC has identified his seat as one that is particularly vulnerable seeing how unpopular he is with many Nevada voters. Recent polls show his unfavorable ratings hovering around 50%.

Unlike ACORN we will not be receiving any of the stimulus money. This means we are not going to be able to do this alone. It will take a group effort to have a real effect.
Like many of Harry Reid’s constituents, we do not feel that the Senator is representing the interests of the people of the great State of Nevada. Senator Reid has become one of the spokespersons for the expansion of government and for trillions of dollars in deficit spending.”

HarryReidKickOut

Harry Reid recently has indicated that a Health Care Bill may not be passed this week. The elections yesterday and the Michele Bachmann Tea party on the Capitol steps tomorrow may cause some Democrats to think twice about voting against their constituents’ wishes. However, do not trust Harry Reid. Keep a close eye on him.

And make certain Reid is voted out of office next year.

What a fantastic rally in Rapid City, South Dakota!

After our great rally in Bozeman, MT we made up some of the distance to Rapid City, SD by driving a ways to Billings, MT.

It was Halloween night and we were sick of the ‘tricks’ being played on “We The People” by the politicians. The next morning we had a long drive across Montana, Wyoming and into South Dakota – in a land where cell phone towers are few and far between. That meant no Internet access and no cell phone access.

We arrived at our venue at the Central States Fairgrounds and had a fantastic event in their rodeo hall. Here are some pics for you all to enjoy:”

NJ voter fraud, ACORN, SEIU, Absentee ballots, November 3, 2009, Wall Street Journal, John Fund article, Corzine thugs, Obama thugs, Christie get fair election?, NJ Democratic Party pressures county clerks on signature checks

John Fund of the Wall Street Journal has written an article dated November 2, 2009, about the potential for widespread voter fraud today, Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

“Chris Christie’s Next Case: Who Stole My Election?
Absentee voter fraud may play a significant role in New Jersey’s gubernatorial election.”
“The race for governor in New Jersey is so close in final polls that it may well end up in a recount — the 1981 election did and was decided by less than 1,800 votes. If there is a recount, you can bet disputes about absentee ballots will loom large. Moreover, if serious allegations of fraud emerge, you can also expect less-than-vigorous investigation by the Obama Justice Department — which showed just how seriously it takes such allegations when it walked away from an open-and-shut voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia earlier this year.

Plenty of reasons exist for suspecting absentee fraud may play a significant role in tomorrow’s Garden State contests. Groups associated with Acorn in neighboring Pennsylvania and New York appear to have moved into the state. An independent candidate for mayor in Camden has already leveled charges that voter fraud is occurring in his city. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party in New Jersey is taking advantage of a new loosely written vote-by-mail law to pressure county clerks not to vigorously use signature checks to evaluate the authenticity of absentee ballots, the only verification procedure allowed.

The state has received a flood of 180,000 absentee ballot requests. On some 3,000 forms the signature doesn’t match the one on file with county clerks. Yet citing concerns that voters would be disenfranchised, Democratic Party lawyer Paul Josephson wrote New Jersey’s secretary of state asking her “to instruct County Clerks not to deny applications on the basis of signature comparison alone.” Mr. Josephson maintained that county clerks “may be overworked and are likely not trained in handwriting analysis” and insisted that voters with suspect applications should be allowed to cast provisional ballots. Those ballots, of course, would then provide a pool of votes that would be subject to litigation in any recount, with the occupant of New Jersey’s highest office determined by Florida 2000-style scrutiny of ballot applications.”
“Elsewhere, an investigation is being conducted into a report that people wearing Acorn T-shirts entered an East Orange hospital near Newark carrying blank absentee ballots and left with completed ballots. New Jersey law allows anyone to pick up an absentee ballot for someone else — these are called messenger ballots.

After repeated election-related scandals, Acorn has become toxic for many candidates who once relied on the group. But Acorn’s longtime allies, the Service Employee International Union and New York’s Working Families Party, have both moved into New Jersey. Peter Colavito, Acorn’s former political director in New York and a board member of the Working Families Party, is now the political director of SEIU Local 32BJ, which is heavily involved in New Jersey’s election. Nationally, the SEIU is a political powerhouse with White House visitor’s logs showing that Andrew Stern, its national head, visited 22 times in the first six months of the Obama White House — more than any other person. “Andrew Stern practically lives at the White House,” notes Politico.com.”
“Nor is in-person fraud at the polls unknown in New Jersey. In 2007, a former Hoboken zoning board president noticed a group of men outside a polling place being given index cards by two people. One of the loiterers later tried to vote in the name of a voter who had moved out of the area. When challenged by the former zoning board president, he ran out of the building and was caught. He later admitted to police he was part of a group from a homeless shelter who had been paid $10 each to vote using the names of other people.”

Citizen Wells vote, Tuesday, November 3, 2009, Voted against Obama agenda, Voted against modern day Democrat party, Against corruption, For US Constitution

I just returned from voting in NC, Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

I voted against the Obama agenda and the modern day Democrat Party.

I voted for upholding the US Constitution and rule of law.

I do not care for either party.

I voted a straight ticket.

I prefer to not vote a straight ticket.

However, this is an emergency.

I do not comprehend how an intelligent, well informed, concerned American voter can support the modern day Democrat Party.

Voting for Republican candidates was the lesser of evils.

However, going forward, all elected officials will be held more accountable.

I, and the rest of the American public, have had it with politically motivated, self serving politicians of all affiliations.

Let’s get by this emergency over the next year, vote out the jackasses in 2010, let all running for office know that we are watching them and expect them to act more like statesmen and less like politicians and return this country to a Constitutional Republic with liberty and justice for all.

Wells

Corzine, Christie, NJ Governor race, Voter fraud, Absentee ballots, Mismatched Signatures, New Jersey Democratic party, provisional ballots, Republican Chris Christie lead, Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, absentee ballot fraud

We watched voter fraud and voter intimidation occur repeatedly during the primaries, caucuses and general election in 2008. The Governor’s race in NJ is close between Jon Corzine and Chris Christie and Obama is making his third campaign visit for Corzine on Monday. No one will be surprised to find out that controversies are already arising about possible voting irregularities.

From The National Review Online, October 29, 2009.

“Democrats Ask New Jersey Secretary of State to Ignore Mismatched Signatures on Absentee-Ballot Requests

This year, New Jersey’s registered voters can request a mail-in ballot for any reason. (Before 2005, voters needed to provide a reason for why they needed an absentee ballot.) The state received about 150,000 absentee-ballot applications this year.

On about 2,300 of those applications so far, the signature on the request form does not match the signature on the voter’s registration forms with the state.

In a development that is depressingly predictable, the New Jersey Democratic party is asking the state to provide provisional ballots for all these voters. Those ballots could, presumably, be used to overcome any narrow lead by Republican Chris Christie over Democrat Jon Corzine on Election Day.”
“Could some of these cases be an election official misjudging the natural deviation in two handwriting samples from the same person? Certainly, and that’s why the current system has clerks reaching out to rejected voters (presuming they actually exist) to sort out the discrepancy. But Democrats want to short-circuit the established methods of sorting out the problem, and in fact to ban rejections based on signature mismatches entirely.

Paul P. Josephson, a lawyer representing the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, wrote to Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, asking her to “instruct County Clerks not to deny (vote by mail) applications on the basis of signature comparison alone.””
“The fears of absentee-ballot fraud in New Jersey is not theoretical or far-fetched. Earlier this year, Atlantic City councilman Marty Small and 13 people who worked on his unsuccessful mayoral campaign “were indicted on charges they conspired to commit election fraud during the June Democratic primary through a variety of schemes involving messenger absentee ballots, state Attorney General Anne Milgram announced in Trenton.” One of those workers has already pled guilty. Five workers were indicted on similar charges in Essex County in August.

Suspicious minds see the letter as an attempt to create a pool of emergency votes to be used if Christie holds a small lead on Election Night. The Secretary of State has not yet responded to the Democrats’ request.”

Tea Party Express II, Thursday, October 29, 2009, Redding CA, Medford OR, Northern California, Southern Oregon, Huge crowds, CNN coverage

The Tea Party Express II will be in one of my favorite parts of the country today, Northern California and Southern Oregon. Redding, CA and Medford, OR will be the site of Tea Party protests today, October 29, 2009.

Here are some reports from recent Tea Party Express II protests in California and Nevada.

WOW! Huge crowd turns out in Walnut Creek, CA – Breaking News

Hello from Walnut Creek, CA – a community in the East Bay of the San Francisco metropolitan area. So in the sea of liberalism stood an island of patriotic Americans rallying together today united in the effort to advance the tea party movement.”
“There’s also a crucial Congressional Special Election coming up here on November 3rd which features David Harmer (a Republican who strongly opposes government-run healthcare) up against California Lieutenant Governor, John Garamendi (a Democrat who is a big advocate of government-run healthcare and the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda of big government, bailouts, higher taxes and out-of-control spending).

Harmer spoke at this evening’s rally to an enthusiastic crowd – perhaps the most enthusiastic crowd we’ve had since the kickoff event in San Diego, CA. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy – we sure enjoyed the great people of Walnut Creek:”

CNN Reports on the Tea Party Express

CNN’s Jon King interviewed Tea Party Express Vice Chair, Mark Williams, about the “Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day.”

A relatively fair interview with CNN’s King asking questions and allowing the Tea Party Express’s Mark Williams to respond. There’s some good stuff in this interview, friends!”

This is the open thread for Tuesday, October 27, 2009. The theme is “1984” by George Orwell and how the Obama camp and the Obama Administration resemble the totalitarian regime described by Orwell. Daily, in conversations with my friends, almost without fail, someone states that we are living “1984.” I am working on an article on Tort Reform, another of the big lies being spoken about by the likes of Harry Reid. Even though tort reform is not listed below, consider it a victim of Orwellian lies.

“Thousands have turned out in beautiful San Diego for the kickoff rally for the Tea Party Express! It’s an amazing crowd, and we’re right on the water with the USS Midway as our backdrop.

Wow – folks this is incredible. To those in the media or on the political Left who keep insisting the tea party movement is dead, or its astroturf, etc… well the people of San Diego have turned out and spoken a message loud and clear: WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!”

H1N1, Obama Declares National Emergency, October 24, 2009, Bill of Rights revoked?, Stafford Act, National Emergencies Act, Public Health Emergency Fund, Federal emergency authorities, Rights have been now officially suspended.

I first heard about Obama declaring a national emergency due to the H1N1 flu this morning as I was driving down the highway. I was warned many months ago that the flu was coming and that Obama would use it as an excuse to exercise more power over the American public. One of the people that warned me of this, in March of 2009, before the public awareness of a coming flu, a retired military officer, just sent me some information.

October 24, 2009,  approx 7:50 PM ET.

“Obama declares swine flu a national emergency”

“President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency and empowered his health secretary to suspend federal guidelines at hospitals and speed up how infected people might receive treatment in a disaster.

The declaration that Obama signed late Friday means Health and Human Services chief Kathleen Sebelius to bypass federal rules when opening alternative care sites, such as offsite hospital centers at schools or community centers, if needed.

Hospitals could modify patient rules — for example, requiring them to give less information during a hectic time — to quicken access to treatment, with government approval. The declaration, which the White House announced Saturday, allows HHS in some cases to let hospitals relocate emergency rooms offsite to reduce flu-related burdens and to protect noninfected patients.

Administration officials said the declaration was a pre-emptive move designed to make decisions easier when they need to be made. Officials said this was not in response to any single development on an outbreak that has lasted months and has killed more than 1,000 people in the United States.

It was the second of two steps needed to give Sebelius extraordinary powers during a crisis. On April 26, the administration declared swine flu a public health emergency, allowing the shipment of roughly 12 million doses of flu-fighting medications from a federal stockpile to states in case they eventually needed them. At the time, there were 20 confirmed cases in the U.S. of people recovering easily. There was no vaccine against swine flu, but the CDC had taken the initial step necessary for producing one.”

“What does this mean for YOU?   It means the Federal Government has just declared its right to revoke the Bill of Rights:

A National Emergency, under the Stafford Act:

Quote:
With respect to the current outbreak, the Public Health Emergency Fund is available (but is
currently unfunded)17 and Emergency Use Authorizations have been granted by FDA.18 However,
the Secretary’s waiver and modification authority has not been activated because there is no
concurrent presidential declaration under either the Stafford Act or the National Emergencies Act.
(comment: report published in May 2009)

So declaring this emergency doesn’t really make more funds available.  They don’t EXIST!  So, that’s not the reason……
Quote:
A presidential declaration under the Stafford Act triggers federal emergency authorities that are
independent of the Secretary’s public health emergency authorities. Declarations under the
Stafford Act fall into two categories: emergency declarations and major disaster declarations. As
of this point in time, there have been no Stafford Act declarations pertaining to the current
influenza A(H1N1) virus outbreak. A presidential emergency declaration under the Stafford Act
authorizes the President to direct federal agencies to support state and local emergency assistance
activities; coordinate disaster relief provided by federal and non-federal organizations; provide
technical and advisory assistance to state and local governments; provide emergency assistance
through federal agencies; remove debris through grants to state and local governments; provide
assistance to individuals and households for temporary housing and uninsured personal needs;

and assist state and local governments in the distribution of medicine, food, and consumables.19
The total amount of assistance available is limited in an emergency declaration to $5 million,
“unless the President determines that there is a continuing need; Congress must be notified if the
$5 million ceiling is breached.

Source:  Document prepared for Congress in May, 2009:  http://assets.opencrs.com/rpts/R40560_20090506.pdf

Now, we’re getting down to the real reasons…..

Further of interest from this document:

Quote:
A major disaster declaration authorizes the President to offer all the assistance authorized under
an emergency declaration, and further authorizes funds for the repair and restoration of federal
facilities, unemployment assistance, emergency grants to assist low-income migrant and seasonal
farm workers, food coupons and distribution, relocation assistance, crisis counseling assistance
and training, community disaster loans, emergency communications, and emergency public
transportation.23 Additionally, the total amount of assistance provided in a major disaster
declaration is not subject to a ceiling in the same way as under an emergency declaration.

And here is the money quote:

Quote:

The Public Health Service Act and the Stafford Act contain authorities that
allow the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the President, respectively, to take certain
actions during emergencies or disasters. While the primary authority for quarantine and isolation
in the United States resides at the state level, the federal government has jurisdiction over
interstate and border quarantine. Border entry and border closing issues may arise in the context
of measures designed to keep individuals who have, or may have, influenza A(H1N1) from
crossing U.S. borders. Aliens with the H1N1 virus can be denied entry, but American citizens
cannot be excluded from the United States solely because of a communicable disease, although
they may be quarantined or isolated at the border for health reasons. Airlines have considerable
discretion to implement travel restrictions relating to the safety and/or security of flights and other
passengers and crew. In addition, the federal government has broad legal authority to regulate and
control the navigable airspace of the United States in dealing with incidents involving
communicable diseases. States have authority to initiate other emergency measures such as
mandatory vaccination orders and certain nonpharmaceutical interventions such as school
closures, which may lessen the spread of an infectious disease. The International Health
Regulations adopted by the World Health Organization in 2005 provide a framework for
international cooperation against infectious disease threats.

The use of these emergency measures to contain the influenza A(H1N1) virus outbreak may raise
a classic civil rights issue: to what extent can an individual’s liberty be curtailed to advance the
common good? The U.S. Constitution and federal civil rights laws provide for individual due
process and equal protection rights as well as a right to privacy, but these rights are balanced
against the needs of the community.

And there you have it, in black and white.  I make no determination as to whether H1N1A is truly the public threat they are presenting, although there have been deaths of children at a concerning rate, even here in Michigan – the fact is, the Stafford Act allows the Federal Government to strip away all your rights.  While this National Emergency is in effect, this gives the Federal Government carte blanche to use this declaration for whatever it pleases.  Rights have been now officially suspended.”
