Bernanke unemployment high, Labor Day weekend August 31, 2012, Fed can do more, Economic recovery far from satisfactory, Jobless claims 374,000

“We tried our plan—and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”…Barack Obama
“after 29 months of allegedly stellar job growth under Obama, the jobless rate is still 8.3%. By this point in the Reagan and Bush jobs recoveries, the unemployment rate was 7.2% and 4.9%, respectively. If we were one of those fact-checking organizations, we’d give Stephanie Cutter the “Lying Liar from Liersburg” award.”…News Busters August 26, 2012

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed
–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into
history and became truth. “Who controls the past,” ran the
Party slogan, “controls the future: who controls the present
controls the past.”…George Orwell, “1984″

From Boston.com August 31, 2012.
“Bernanke: With unemployment high, Fed can do more”

“Chairman Ben Bernanke made clear Friday that the Federal Reserve will do more to boost the economy because of high U.S. unemployment and an economic recovery that remains ‘‘far from satisfactory.’’

He also argued that the Fed’s moves so far to keep interest rates at record lows and encourage borrowing and spending have helped bolster the economy.

Bernanke stopped short of committing the Fed to any specific move, such as another round of bond purchases to lower long-term rates. But in a speech at an annual Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Wyo., Bernanke said that even with rates at super-lows, the Fed can do more.

After Bernanke’s comments were released at 10 a.m. Eastern time, stocks initially gave up most of their earlier gains. But as investors digested the speech, stocks bounced back. By late morning, the Dow Jones industrial average was up more than 100 points. Broader stock indexes also surged.

Bernanke noted that further action carries risks but says the Fed can manage them. The Fed ‘‘should not rule out’’ new policies to improve the job market, he said.

The most dramatic step the Fed could take would be another round of bond buying. This is known as quantitative easing, or QE. In two rounds of QE, the Fed bought more than $2 trillion of Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities. Many investors have been hoping for a third round — QE3— to be unveiled as soon as the Fed’s next policy meeting in September.

In light of Bernanke’s comments Friday, some analysts said that might be a stronger possibility now.”

“In his speech, Bernanke cited studies showing that the Fed’s first two rounds of bond purchases created at least 2 million jobs.”

“Bernanke’s comments Friday made clear that the economy has a long way back to full health.

‘‘Unless the economy begins to grow more quickly than it has recently, the unemployment rate is likely to remain far above levels consistent with maximum employment for some time,’’ he said.”

From the US Labor Department August 30, 2012.

“In the week ending August 25, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 374,000, unchanged from the previous week’s revised figure of 374,000. The 4-week moving average was 370,250, an increase of 1,500 from the previous week’s revised average of 368,750.”

Lon Monk testifies Rezko gave him $70,000 to $90,000, Blagojevich trial testimony, May of 2004, Health Planning Board Rigging with Obama help

“Why did the Illinois Senate Health & Human Services Committee, with Obama as chairman, create and push Bill 1332, “Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act,” early in 2003, which reduced the number of members on the Board from 15 to 9, just prior to rigging by Tony Rezko and Rod Blagojevich?”…Citizen Wells

“I believe I’m more pristine on Rezko than him.”…Rod Blagojevich

“The last thing Sen. Barack Obama and Gov. Rod Blagojevich needed was that letter written by convicted Illinois influence peddler Tony Rezko promising he’d never rat out his pals.”…John Kass, Chicago tribune

From the Chicago SunTimes May 17, 2011.

“Rod Blagojevich’s running buddy, onetime law school roommate and former chief of staff Lon Monk testified that he took $70,000 to $90,000 in cash payments from fundraiser Tony Rezko.

Monk said he took the money while he worked as chief of staff for Blagojevich and Rezko was a major fund-raiser.

Before his 2008 conviction, Rezko was a major political donor, forging ties with numerous politicos, including one Barack Obama.

The cash payments from Rezko started in May of 2004, according to Monk.

“I’d gone to him to recommend a car dealership where I could buy a particular car,” Monk said of Rezko. “He gave me that recommendation and at that time told me he wanted to help me buy the car.”

Rezko then helped him buy his car. He continued paying Monk about $10,000 in cash on different occasions. Monk did not deposit it because he didn’t want anyone seeing large cash deposits in his bank account.

Jurors heard the disclosure after Monk described how he, Blagojevich, fund-raiser Chris Kelly and Rezko were close and had met on occasion to discuss ways to make money off of state business. Monk’s testimony was not as detailed as it was in last summer’s trial, when he described Rezko at a drawing board describing ways to divvy up potential state deals. ”

This may be as close as we come in this trial to linking Obama to the Chicago corruption due to the efforts of Patrick Fitzgerald and the US Justice Department to dilute the prosecution and protect Obama.

Look at the period of time from March – May 2004 and examine what Monk, Rezko, Levine and Obama were up to.

Unemployed data, Facts, May 8, 2010, Unemployment rate rises to 9.9 %, Employment rises 290,000, Emergency Unemployment Compensation rises 153,786

Unemployed data, Facts, May 8, 2010, Unemployment rate rises to 9.9 %

Three things happened last week that caused me to ponder what is going on with our economy.

The stock market plunged.

Confusing numbers from the government about employment and unemployment were released.

Many colleges were winding down their academic year. With this comes millions of young adults entering the work force part time or full time. What kind of job market will they encounter?

Consider these numbers and data released last week by the Federal Government.

  • Nonfarm payroll employment rose by 290,000 in April.
  • The unemployment rate edged up to 9.9 percent.
  • In April, the number of unemployed persons was 15.3 million.
  • The rate had been 9.7 percent for the first 3 months of this year.
  • The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) con-tinued to trend up over the month, reaching 6.7 million.
  • In April, 45.9 percent of unemployed persons had been jobless for 27 weeks or more.
  • Among the unemployed, the number of reentrants to the labor force rose by 195,000 over the month.
  • About 2.4 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force in April, compared with 2.1 million a year earlier.
  • They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey.
  • Among the marginally attached, there were 1.2 million discouraged workers in April, up by 457,000 from a year earlier.
  • Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them.
  • Federal government employment was up in April, reflecting the hiring of 66,000 temporary workers for the decennial census.
  • UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE WEEKLY CLAIMS REPORT: In the week ending May 1, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 444,000, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 451,000.
  • States reported 5,354,259 persons claiming EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) benefits for the week ending April 17, an increase of 153,786 from the prior week.

No wonder the stock market has the jitters.

Jobless claims, March 19, 2010, Small decline, Little evidence companies are ready to hire, 457,000 from 462,000, Economists predicted 455,000

Jobless claims, March 19, 2010, Small decline

From Market Watch, March 18, 2010.

“Weekly jobless claims decline 5,000 to 457,000”

“The number of people applying for unemployment benefits fell by 5,000 in the latest week, marking the third straight drop, but there’s little evidence companies are ready to hire at a pace that would sharply reduce the nation’s high jobless rate.
In the week ended March 13, initial claims dropped to a seasonally-adjusted 457,000 from 462,000 in the prior week, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch predicted claims would subside to 455,000. See our complete economic calendar.
The four-week average of initial claims — a better gauge of employment trends than the volatile weekly number — fell by 4,250 to 471,250.”

“”Claims first reached their current level nearly four months ago, in late November, and the lack of progress since then is disconcerting,” Ian Shepherdson of High Frequency Economics wrote in an email.

Many companies are leery of hiring new workers until they see demand pick up. Some are also awaiting the outcome of legislative battles in Washington over issues such as health care, energy and taxes. Major changes in those arenas could significantly impact the cost of hiring new workers.

Jobless claims “are not yet at levels typically associated with payroll growth,” John Ryding of RDQ Economics said. Ryding estimates weekly claims would have to fall to 400,000 or lower to signify a hiring trend.

Meanwhile, the number of people who continue to get regular state unemployment checks rose by 12,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 4.58 million in the week ended March 6. That’s the most recent data available.”

Jobless claims jump to 496,000, February 25, 2010, new claims for unemployment benefits, four week average rose, 8.4 million jobs lost, 4.6 million continuing claims, North Carolina had biggest increase

Jobless claims jump to 496,000, February 25, 2010

From Fox News,  February 25, 2010.

“New Jobless Claims Jumped to 496,000 as Heavy Snow Caused Rise in Layoffs”

“The number of new claims for unemployment benefits jumped unexpectedly last week as heavy snows caused layoffs to rise.”

“The department said Thursday that first-time claims for unemployment insurance rose by 22,000 to a seasonally adjusted 496,000. Wall Street analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a drop to 455,000.”

“The four-week average has risen by about 30,000 in the past month, raising concerns that job cuts are continuing. Initial claims had fallen sharply over the summer and fall but the improvement has stalled since the year began.

The economy has grown for six months but is not yet spurring new hiring. Many economists point out that the current recovery is weak compared to the aftermath of previous deep recessions.

The Labor Department said earlier this month that while the unemployment rate fell to 9.7 percent from 10 percent, employers still cut 20,000 jobs. The economy has lost 8.4 million jobs since the recession began.”

“Among the states, North Carolina had biggest increase in claims, with 5,897, which it attributed to layoffs in the construction, furniture and mining industries. Pennsylvania and Kentucky also reported large increases. The state data lags initial claims by one week.”

February 18 2010, Jobless Claims rise, Inflation jumps, Economy Wobbles, New applications unemployment insurance surged last week, unemployment benefits increased 31,000, producer prices increased sharply in January

February 18 2010, Jobless Claims rise

From CNBC.com, february 18, 2010.

“Jobless Claims, Inflation Jump as Economy Wobbles”

“The number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment insurance unexpectedly surged last week, while producer prices increased sharply in January, raising potential hurdles for the economic recovery.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 31,000 to 473,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. That compared to market expectations for 430,000.
Another report from the department showed prices paid at the farm and factory gate rose a faster than expected 1.4 percent from December after a 0.4 percent gain in December, as higher gasoline prices and unusually cold temperatures helped boost energy costs.
“When you have PPI moving up and still no progress in the jobs situation, that doesn’t bode well for continued improvement in equity prices,” said Alan Lancz, president at Alan B. Lancz & Associates in Toledo, Ohio.”

Bill O’Reilly, Orly Taitz, Fox, Obama, Judge Land, Case Frivolous, Taitz fined $ 20,000, Lis Wiel, Kimberly Guilfoil, O’Reilly Factor, NO spin?, O’Reilly shooting messenger, O’Reilly coward, Obama not natural born citizen, Citizen Wells challenge

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”…Proverbs 16:18

“There is an epidemic of shooting the messenger in this country.”…Citizen Wells

Bill O’Reilly, who has a sinecure, maligned Orly Taitz and anyone questioning the eligibility of Barack Obama last night, October 27, 2009, on his Fox TV show.

O’Reilly is well known for being a pompous ass.

Last night, Bill O’Reilly was a coward.

Neither O’Reilly or his female fawners, who agreed the case was frivolous and that Orly Taitz deserved what she got, have done sufficient research to make an intelligent, informed comment on the subject.
I criticize Bill O’Reilly for pontificating on a subject that he knows little about.

I also criticize O’Reilly for shooting the messenger.

Orly Taitz, Philip Berg, Leo Donofrio, Mario Apuzzo, concerned active and retired military, myself, commenters on this blog and millions of concerned Americans are not the guilty party in this matter. Barack Obama is guilty.

Barack Obama

  • His father was Kenyan and a British Citizen.
  • Obama has not provided a long form birth certificate.
  • Obama has spent hundreds of thousands of someone’s money to fight proving eligibility.
  • Obama has consistently lied to the American people.
  • Obama is entangled in Chicago and IL corruption and should be indicted.
  • Obama’s further control of federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald should alarm everyone.

So, Bill O’Reilly, quit shooting the messenger and do your damn job. After all, the Obama administration continues to shoot Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

O’Reilly, you coward, try picking on me. I am a natural born citizen of the US, close to your age, male, with a strong business background. I have thoroughly researched Obama’s background and eligibility issues and written about it. I am not receiving a large salary for doing this. I simply care about this country.

I hereby challenge Bill O’Reilly to a battle of facts.

I will, of course, be attacking an unarmed opponent.

Bill O’Reilly, please explain why concerned Americans should not boycott your show.

And now for the response from Captain Pamela Barnett, a lead plaintiff in one of Taitz’ cases:

“(Oct. 28, 2009) —  She was a captain in the U.S. Army, assigned to Military Intelligence; but now retired she’s fighting a war on two fronts.

Captain Pamela Barnett is lead plaintiff in a case that could lead to the removal and life-time imprisonment of Barack Hussein Obama on charges of high-crimes, election fraud, campaign fraud, and a laundry list of campaign financing violations.

But Captain Barnett is not shirking her duty to defend her fellow Plaintiffs in the case: no, she is rebutting the lies and falsehoods promoted by the widely followed, but often errant and politically correct, Bill O’Reilly of Fox News.”

“From Captain Pamela Barnett to Bill O’Reilly – October 28, 2009

I challenge you Mr. O’Reilly to interview me..

I am Captain Pamela Barnett U.S. Army Retired of Barnett v. Barack Obama.

I am sick and tired of you defaming our lawsuit and our attorney against the Resident in the Whitehouse Obama. 48 plaintiffs mostly military retired have brought this lawsuit to force the production of Obama’s vital records to determine if he is in fact a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN which is one of the requirements to be a legal POTUS and NOT an illegal USURPER. There is also a huge amount of information regarding fraud that Obama committed before being illegally sworn in as POTUS.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE TRUTH AT ALL.. YOU WILL CALL ME…

FROM WHAT I CAN SEE OF YOUR SHOW, THE TRUTH DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER TO YOU OR THE REST OF THE SHILLS AT FOX. I KNOW THAT YOU ARE ONLY A COMMENTATOR, BUT AT LEAST GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE HURTING OUR CASE AND PROPAGATING LIES TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Sincerely,

CPT Pamela Barnett, U.S.Army Retired”

Some of the initial comments on the Citizen Wells blog after O’Reilly’s remarks:
“How are these people like Lis, Bill, and Kimberly, on Fox, going to explain themselves to the public after Kerchner gets Obama thrown to the curb.
After hearing those idiots say Obama is legitimate I hope Obama is removed from office just so I can see the expressions on their faces, it will be priceless.”

“OWrongly just made me throw up a little in my mouth. How ignorant can he be? And that blond dimwit. It’s been repeatedly proved Obotomy was born in Hawaii? Looked into by Congress? WHAT???? And then they don’t even know what Natural Born even means? I don’t know why anyone watches that show.”

“Observer, Bill Oreally, Lis Wiel, and Kimberly Guilfoil, all agreed the case was frivolous, she brought the same case to the same court twice, and she got what she deserved. That is about what it boiled down to.”

bob strauss

“Yepppers,…. I have been losing my respect for o’reilly,……. this really nailed it shut. I have sent him emails telling him to find out the truth,…. but, it seems that he wants to remain ignorant on the facts of obamas birth. I will email him again and tell him he needs to change the name of his show. NO – SPIN…… what a joke.”

joyceaz

“Watched O’Reilly’s comments on Orly, I have been studying on this ever since. The comments were not fair or balanced. NOW Orly or one of her reps. should contact the No Spine Zone and have the opportunity to defend herself with the truth! The Big Leprachan is a know it all”

“After the 3 against 1 on O’Reilly I believe she should be on this week!”

“OK – O’Reilly was the show that started my turn from uninformed democrat to a strong conservative and for about the last year – I can hardly stand him. Now – he is dead to me. YKWIM

Thanks Venice and SueK for the welcome.”

DenisetheMenace

“Did anyone really expect anything different from O’Reilly?”

SueK

“Observer, Bill Oreally, Lis Wiel, and Kimberly Guilfoil, all agreed the case was frivolous, she brought the same case to the same court twice, and she got what she deserved. That is about what it boiled down to.

Thanks Bob. So it came down to an “O’Bloviate” segment only. Figures. He loves macho soundbites – but he’s definitely been looking old lately plus losing the hair more and more. They should give Beck his slot and put Lou Dobbs in Beck’s. None of them want to commit to the eligibility question though because they just don’t know Constitutional law or care and want to wait ’til the patriots get all bloodied up – then report it later and take the credit.”

Observer

“They have something on O’Reilly. There are too many reaasons why Obama’s COLB is suspect for him not to elaborate at all. They have something on him.”

“He’s full of it because those records were sealed shortly after Barky went to visit the dying Gramma Dunham. Does he really want us to believe that the State of Hawaii gave HIM the birth certificate?

He thinks we’re stupid; he has another thing coming.

Ratings or blackmail…take your pick. I’ll bet you a donut that he won’t consent to having Orly on to rebut his garbage.

Smug bastid.”
SueK

“His eyes go cross eyed when he even has the balls to bring this up. He says that he vetted it, but won’t publicly go into how he vetted it. He said that the state of Hawaii gave him a copy of the birth certificate (not certification). He said that he could find out the name of the hospital that President Obama was born in “tomorrow” (if he so chose). He’s a frigging liar. You can see it all over his face and he is being “black mailed” or his hands are tied to elaborate. Any normal person looking at this issue can see that something is up. Camille Paglia, noted LIBERAL, even accepts this fact. They can only keep their thumb in the whole of the dam for so much longer. They think we are stupid, and in the long run (whether during Obama’s term, or afterwards) the truth will be known. All of their careers will be over at that point.”
Paxson

“I am suspect about O’really picking Orly for a segment. At the very least I thought it would have simply been a gratuitous move.

No doubt it was meant to discredit her and the “movement.”

This on the heels of Judge Carter’s recent new hire. I can’t help but question if it’s not part of a bigger plan being implemented incrementally.”
JustMe
“I think O’Reilly is a jerk and I don’t like to watch him. He obviously is uninformed of what a NBC is and he thinks he knows it all. They like to discredit those who are trying to find out the truth because he thinks he knows the truth and says BO was born in HI so that makes him NBC. I don’t like O’Reilly. He is a fake conservative. He does not care about the country or the constitution, but he discredits those who do. He is lousy. I also think that Lou Dobbs should switch places with him.”
