“REPORT: DOJ NEEDED HOLDER’S SIGNATURE TO GET AP PHONE RECORDS”

“The Associated Press reported Monday that the Department of Justice had secretly seized two months worth of telephone records from reporters and editors working for the global news organization.

Needless to say, news that the DOJ had secretly obtained AP phone records has rocked the media. As it turns out, people really, really don’t like being spied on or having the feds snoop around their personal information.

This is going to take some explaining.

And it looks like it’ll take a lot more than a “low-level employee” to get U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder out of this tight spot.

See, as the Washington Examiner’s Phillip Klein notes, “it will be harder for President Obama to pin the DOJ’s action on lower level bureaucrats … because requests to subpoena news organization records require the approval of Attorney General Eric Holder.”

From the DOJ’s U.S. Attorneys’ Manual:

The Attorney General’s authorization is normally required before the issuance of any subpoena to a member of the news media or for the telephone toll records of a member of the news media. However, in those cases where the media member or his or her representative agrees to provide the material sought and that material has been published or broadcast, the United States Attorney or the responsible Assistant Attorney General may authorize issuance of the subpoena, thereafter submitting a report to the Office of Public Affairs detailing the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the subpoena….”

Beginning in 2008, and especially with the revelations from the Tony Rezko trial, you were warned that Obama would bring his Chicago Pay to Play Politics to Washington, DC.

It has happened. In one of the worst possible places.

The US Justice Department.

One of the latest and best examples is the promotion of Tony West in the USDOJ.

First, a little background on Tony West.

“Tony West – Friend of Barack Obama – Part One”

“But West is also known as a friend of President-Elect Barack Obama. West met Obama in 2004 and offered to help him should he elect to run for President. When Obama did, he called West and thus began West’s role as Chair of the fundraising committee for Northern California. It also started a round of basketball between the two that’s gone well enough for Obama to give West a pair of his shoes to wear for games.””

“Consider the following timeline.

  • Beginning in January 2009, when Obama took control of the White House and Justice Department, he began using USDOJ attorneys, at taxpayer expense, to prevent his birth, college and other records from being released. Prior to then Obama used Robert Bauer of Perkins Coie to keep his records hidden. Tony West is one of those USDOJ attorneys. See list below.
  • On January 21, 2009 retired Naval Commander Charles Kerchner, represented by attorney Mario Appuzo, filed a lawsuit against Barack Obama challenging his eligibility for the presidency. “Obama has sealed most of his important documents that would shed light on his true identity and the main stream media has not challenged him as to why he did so.”
  • The case was subsequently appealed. A response was given by USDOJ attorneys on March 8, 2010. Tony West was listed at the top of the list. “Plaintiffs’
    alleged grievances regarding President Obama’s constitutional
    qualifications reflect a generalized interest in the proper
    administration of the law “shared by all the American people,”
    App. 10, not a concrete injury particular to plaintiffs. The
    Supreme Court has repeatedly held that Article III standing may
    not be predicated on such injury. Plaintiffs’ attempts to
    aggrandize their harms, based on oaths they have taken to support
    to the Constitution, their heightened interest in constitutional
    principles, or the possibility of future military service, fail.”
  • Tony West appeared before the House Judiciary committee on June 24, 2010. ”One of this Subcommittee’s duties and obligations is to oversee the activities of the various components of the Department of Justice over which the Subcommittee has jurisdiction.” “I thank Assistant Attorney General Tony West of California and points west, the head of the Civil Division, for appearing before us today and to report on the division’s recent activities.” As you can already see, this is like questioning the fox on recent activity in the hen house.
  • Mr. West made a number of statements that you will find interesting:”Since assuming this position in April 2009, I have focused on three main priorities for the Civil Division: Protecting the American people, protecting taxpayer dollars, and protecting the Nation’s consumers.””The Civil Division is vigorously defending the Affordable Care Act health care reform statute against multiple lawsuits brought on constitutional and other grounds.””The President has pledged to make this Administration the most open and transparent in history, and the department is doing its part to make that pledge a reality.”  Read more below.
  • On September 20, 2012 Obama nominated Tony West to be the full time number 3 position in the USDOJ.

Anybody see a problem here? A conflict of interest!

CHICAGO PAY TO PLAY POLITICS.

Obama’s use of Tony West, a friend and fundraiser, to assist him, in cooperation with other USDOJ attorneys, in eligibility lawsuits and in keeping his records hidden, is a clear conflict of interest. This was further exacerbated by West representing the USDOJ before the House Judiciary Committee on June 24, 2010. Obama’s nomination of Tony West to a full time position as the number 3 position in the USDOJ is a clear case of Obama’s continued Chicago pay to play politics of reward your crony, put them in a power position and use them to protect and further your agenda.

Our checks and balances have been destroyed by the Obama camp. We no longer have a viable US Justice Department. Congress and the Judiciary Committee have failed to do their job and we have the most corrupt person ever to occupy the White House.

We cannot immediately remove members of congress or the Judiciary Committee, but we can contact them, voice our disgust and let them know that history will not view them kindly. The members of the Judiciary Committee can be found in the document below.”

A few minutes ago Glenn Beck stated that Rand Paul would make a very big announcement on The Blaze today. Many are speculating that it has something to do with Obama’s use of drones to spy on US citizens.

“If Republicans in Illinois are beaten down and discouraged, they didn’t show it at last night’s Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner where more than 650 people came out to hear U.S. Senator Rand Paul.

Ryan Higgins, the Republican Committeeman for Schaumburg Township, attributed the success of the dinner to high enthusiasm among party regulars as well as an influx of new members.”

“”We meet three times a week with the Republican caucus,” Paul said. “With the group now down to 45, we’ve gotten to know each other pretty well and sometimes it’s an echo chamber. If you say, ‘I’m for the Second Amendment,’ you get slapped on the back and everybody loves you. But you go down the list, and it’s not always such a consensus. Once you get to the Fourth Amendment, you’re not getting everybody.”

“You may not realize this, but they gave up on the Fourth Amendment when they stopped issuing warrants before examining your bank records,” Paul said. “I don’t know about you, but everything’s on my Visa card. “Can’t we have a little more assurance from the president that he won’t attack American citizens without a trial?”

Privacy issues, drones, prisoner rights are all a part of the discussions that have come up in recent U.S. Senate hearings, he said, from the nomination for Intelligence Chief Brennan to the Benghazi incident and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Paul told the audience Secretary Clinton should have resigned immediately after Libyan Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others were killed in Benghazi.”

“The father of one of the former Navy SEALs killed in the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya says President Barack Obama wouldn’t even look him in the eye and Vice President Joe Biden was disrespectful during the ceremony when his son’s body returned to America. He also says the White House’s story on the attack doesn’t pass the smell test.

Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, called into “The Glenn Beck Program” on TheBlazeTV Thursday and recounted his interactions with the president, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Biden at the ceremony for the Libya victims at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. He told host Glenn Beck that what they told him, coupled with new reports that indicate the Obama administration knew very good and well, almost immediately, that a terrorist attack was occurring in Benghazi, make him certain that the American people are not getting the whole truth.

Vice President Biden, as he has become known to do, reportedly made a wildly inappropriate comment to the father who had just lost his hero son.

Woods said Biden came over to his family and asked in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

“Are these the words of someone who is sorry?” said Woods.

The grieving father also described his brief encounter with President Obama during the ceremony for the Libya victims.

“When he finally came over to where we were, I could tell that he was rather conflicted, a person who was not at peace with himself,” Woods said. “Shaking hands with him, quite frankly, was like shaking hands with a dead fish. His face was pointed towards me but he would not look me in the eye, his eyes were over my shoulder.”

“I could tell that he was not sorry,” he added. “He had no remorse.”

Beck said he wanted to give the president “the benefit of the doubt,” and asked Woods how he could be sure that Obama wasn’t just uncomfortable or nervous during their conversation. Woods said it was Obama’s “demeanor.”

Hillary Clinton’s comments to Woods raise even more questions about the White House’s official story on the Benghazi attack, which has already been extremely inconsistent.

After apologizing for his loss, Woods said Clinton told him that the U.S. would “make sure that the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted.”

Obviously, Clinton was referring to the anti-Muslim YouTube video that the Obama administration spent nearly two weeks blaming for the attack. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice, Clinton and the president himself all blamed the video at various points. Beck pointed out that the White House is now trying to claim that it has always considered terrorism as the cause of the attack.

“When she said that, I could tell that she was not telling me the truth,” Woods said about Clinton.

Reading another State Department email that further calls into question the U.S. response to the attack, Beck revealed that the U.S. government was made aware that the compound in Benghazi was under attack by “mortar fire,” hardly a sign of a spontaneous protest.

“The question that I had in my mind,” Woods replied, “was why did we not do something to protect our forces?”

“We didn’t even dispatch anybody,” Beck lamented.

“You released the information that the White House within minutes of the attack, watched in real time the events unfolding,” Woods told Beck earlier in the program. “They denied the pleas for help and they watched my son die.”

Woods went on to read the following statement, in honor of his son:

“I want to honor my son, Ty Woods, who responded to the cries for help and voluntarily sacrificed his life to protect the lives of other Americans. In the last few days it has become public knowledge that within minutes of the first bullet being fired the White House knew these heroes would be slaughtered if immediate air support was denied. Apparently, C-130s were ready to respond immediately. In less than an hour, the perimeters could have been secured and American lives could have been saved. After seven hours fighting numerically superior forces, my son’s life was sacrificed because of the White House’s decision. This has nothing to do with politics, this has to do with integrity and honor. My son was a true American hero. We need more heroes today. My son showed moral courage. This is an opportunity for the person or persons who made the decision to sacrifice my son’s life to stand up.”

Tears in his eyes, Beck told Woods that his son was not even there for security purposes but after hearing cries for help he voluntarily protected his fellow Americans, knowing his life would be put in danger. Beck called Tyrone Woods a “hero” multiple times throughout the show.

“I am sorry for your loss, and I know there are millions of Americans that are sorry for your loss,” Beck concluded.”

We now know that the US Justice Department and many judges are corrupt, few congressmen care about the Constitution and the manistream media has protected Obama. Yet, many of us still shake our heads in disbelief when people like Glenn Beck not only don’t cover eligibility issues but go to great lengths for many months to ridicule millions of concerned citizens, including high ranking military officers and now Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

In 2008 there was a rumor that Obama is a Mason. I have yet to find any strong evidence for or against this supposition. However, in the June issue of Newsweek, a photo was staged to give the appearance of Obama wearing a Masonic ring. If this wasn’t Obama in the photo, why did Newsweek suggest with the photo that it was?

Included in the imagery is a Mason’s compass, a skull, a scroll & pen, and a date that appears to be 1681 or 1682 (unclear), the first a possible reference to the year Freemason William Penn founded Philadelphia (later the first capital of the United States) and Pennsylvania, the second a possible reference to the founding of La Petite Resurrection des Templiers” a licentious society that was a spin off to Masonic circles in France. Why would Beck choose this apparel? Is it an obscure reference to colonial founders or a tip-off that his allegiances lie with the secret society-elites who have long wielded power?”
 
 
What motivates Glenn Beck to belittle concerned Americans who believe in the US Constitution. Are he and Obama Masons? Is it money? He states that he does not do research and depends on his staff. Perhaps this is one of the reasons.

“Looking to further expand his growing media presence, Glenn Beck, the conservative talk-show host, has hired a one-time chief executive of the left-leaning Huffington Post to lead his new Web site, The Blaze.
 
Betsy Morgan, who ran The Huffington Post for two years, ending in 2009, will become president of The Blaze, a four-month-old site intended to curate news articles and opinion pieces of special interest to Mr. Beck’s conservative audience.
 
He has built that following through aggressive expansion into multiple forms of media, including his high-rated program on the Fox News Channel, a series of best-selling books and numerous personal appearances.
 
His broadest exposure continues to be in radio, where he ranks as the third-most popular host (after other conservative voices, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity).
 
Mr. Beck, however, experienced some setbacks in that medium this week. Both WOR radio in New York and WPHT in Philadelphia are dropping the show as of Jan. 17.
 
Scott Lakefield, the assistant program director of WOR, said ratings for Mr. Beck had fallen off since his early days on the station. “We noticed a downward trend,” Mr. Lakefield said. “The audience was just going elsewhere.”
 
Christopher Balfe, the president of Mr. Beck’s company, Mercury Radio Arts, said that the host remained highly popular on radio nationally, with ratings up 35 percent since the start of 2009. He also said the company would seek new stations in New York and Philadelphia.
 
The appointment of Ms. Morgan to The Blaze (which Mr. Beck named after the biblical story of Moses and the burning bush) raised some eyebrows at The Huffington Post because of her shift to a polar opposite political point of view. But she said in an interview, “I am a very apolitical person. I’m a business person, who is absolutely fascinated by brands.”
 
The aim of The Blaze, Ms. Morgan said, is to broaden beyond politically based information to cover other topics of interest to Mr. Beck, whom she called “a widely-known conversationalist on a lot of topics.”
 
She acknowledged that some of his views had been seen as incendiary and had led to some difficulty in selling to national advertisers. But she said, “Glenn has built for himself quite an enormous brand” and the purpose of The Blaze is to “leverage the huge loyalty of that audience.””

What makes Beck praise Sheriff Joe Arpaio for doing one part of his job, protect the border, and at the same time ridicule him for doing another
part of his job.

Although I tend to like Glenn Beck and agree with him on most subjects, I have let him have it in the past for criticizing and ridiculing millions of
concerned Americans, including high ranking military officers, for questioning Obama’s past, his records and his eligibility for the presidency. I have never
had a problem with Glenn Beck not agreeing with those concerned Americans. However, he has gone to extremes in his criticism and belittling. This makes me
question, if not his patriotism, his alleged religious values.

Also disturbing about Glenn Beck’s remarks on Obama’s eligibility is his admission that he doesn’t do research and relies on his staff and sources like Bill
O’Reilly. O’Reilly finally admitted that he used the newspaper announcements in Hawaii as evidence of Obama’s birth there. Beck just used this argument as
well. Anyone doing minimal research has discovered that anyone could place an announcement in the paper and do so much after the fact. One also finds that
placing the ad in one newpaper automatically placed it in the other.

Why would Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly use the newspaper announcement as proof of Obama’s birth in Hawaii. Aside from what we know about them, they have always been at best someone announcing a birth, not a legal document and certainly not date, time location proof.

When Glenn Beck left Fox last year, he said that he was leaving with his soul.

I am not convinced that Glenn Beck left with his soul. I also have doubts about Beck’s religious beliefs just as I have with Barack Obama.

Does someone who believes in God and who follows the teachings of Jesus behave as Beck and his lackeys do? Forgeting the difference of opinion for a moment and just focusing on the way Sheriff Joe Arpaio and concerned Americans are portrayed in this video, does this reveal fruit of a godly spirit?

Many of the comments on this blog echo my disgust about Glenn Beck’s actions. This one from SueK on March 3, 2012 resonated with me:
“I was so aggravated at Beck that I actually posted on his site last night after that wonderful slam of Sheriff Joe. You’re familiar with some of the vernacular I use. Just had to get it off my chest and call a spade a spade or, in this case, a moron a moron .

It doesn’t matter if Barky was born on the crown of the Statue of Liberty; his father was a Kenyan and never an American citizen and that alone disqualifies him.

The 1875 Supreme Court case, Minor v. Happersett defined a Natural Born Citizen as a person born in the country to citizen parentS. PARENTS. Plural. Even you can understand that. This case has never been overturned; it is the precedent and defines the qualifications for POTUS.

I’m just glad that Sheriff Joe has the babalones to tackle the eligibility issue and I give him a ton of credit; you weenies in the lamestream media are all complicit for getting a fraud and usurper into the White House.

As the Blaze recently reported, Jesus Diaz, a former U.S. border
agent, is serving a two-year prison sentence after being accused of
using excessive force in handcuffing a juvenile drug smuggler back in
2008. Diaz’s detention, which has come under fire from many who
believe that he isn’t guilty of the violence charges waged against
him, has become a hot-button issue.

This morning, Glenn Beck interviewed Diaz’s wife, Diana, on his radio
show to get the entire story, and by the end he was visibly
frustrated.

But before delving into the video of their exchange, let’s review some
brief background information on the case.

Diaz, who is now imprisoned and separated from his wife and six
children, was found guilty of inflicting pain on a known 16-year-old
Mexican drug smuggler in an effort to obtain more information about
where marijuana was being hidden. Authorities also claim that the
former agent kicked the teen and dropped him face-first on the ground.

But these accounts and the charges associated with them have come
under fire (GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has said she
would work toward Diaz’s release). The Examiner has more about the
confusion surrounding the case:

According to the Law Enforcement Officers Advocates Council, the
government’s case is based on false testimony that is contradicted by
the facts. This includes the charge that Agent Diaz was physically
abusive to the then minor “MBE” as noted by court documents and
transcripts that Diaz allegedly put his knee on his back and pulled
back on his handcuffs.
“However, given the time of day during the incident, October 16, 2008
at about 2 a.m. and lack of lighting it would be impossible to have
actually seen much if anything. The agent who stood next to Mr. Diaz,
Marco Ramos testified that he did not see anything that was claimed to
have taken place,” Andy Ramirez, president of LEOAC explained.

A web site has been setup to advocate for Diaz’s release.

In the beginning of his discussion with Diana, Beck said, “I’m sorry
for what this government is doing to you…your family and your
husband.” Diana went on to explain what seems like a tragic story of
justice gone awry.

The Mexican government had apparently filed a complaint following the
incident, which the U.S. government then acted on. In the end, the
16-year-old avoided detention and was apparently sent back to his
homeland. Even more bizarrely, Diana claims that the young man was
brought back to America to testify (with immunity) against her
husband.”

the new standard for a 10 year prison sentence, then all departments
either need to be questioned by the DOJ about this, or they need to
support Agent Diaz’ appeal and his family’s quest for justice.”

“In what appears to be yet another case of the Mexican Government
orchestrating a fake crime against one of their drug smuggling
criminals hauling dope into the U.S., Border Patrol Agent Jesus Diaz,
a 7-year Border Patrol veteran, was convicted in Federal Court on
February 24 of one count of excessive force (under color of law) and 5
counts of lying to Internal Affairs.  He is facing a maximum of 35
years in prison when he is sentenced in November.  Meanwhile, he’s
been in jail since the verdict nearly two months ago.  He’s in
solitary confinement 23 hours per day for his safety. So far, the
judge has refused to allow bond while Diaz awaits sentencing.”

United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that 31-year–old U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agent Jesus E. Diaz, Jr., stands charged by federal grand jury indictment with deprivation of rights under color of law.
The indictment, returned this week by a federal grand jury sitting in Del Rio, alleges that on October 16, 2008, Diaz assaulted a 15 year old depriving him of his constitutional right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by one acting under color of law.
Upon conviction, Diaz faces up to ten years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine.
An indictment is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Office of Internal Affairs and the Office of Professional Responsibility. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly Blackburn is prosecuting the matter for the Government.”

I tried to obtain more information on this case yesterday. Here is what I know thus far, aside from articles on the web.

A. From the press release: “Diaz assaulted a 15 year old depriving him of his constitutional right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by one acting under color of law.”

  1. Illegals aliens do not have constitutional rights.
  2. The Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law, Title 18, U.S.C., Section 242, states: “This law further prohibits a person acting under color of law,
    statute, ordinance, regulation or custom to willfully subject or cause
    to be subjected any person to different punishments, pains, or
    penalties, than those prescribed for punishment of citizens on account
    of such person being an alien or by reason of his/her color or race.”    Alien refers to a person visiting from another country legally or legally here on some kind of visa. This is not intended to protect someone in violation of the law.

B. Aside from the press release, I could find no other reference to the Jesus Diaz prosecution. Contrast this to the  Compean and Ramos Prosecution.

C. Something smells about this. We know the USDOJ cannot be trusted, especially under the control of Obama and Holder.

“Overestimating Global Warming? Scientists Say New Map of Greenland Needs More Ice”
“Over the last couple weeks, climate scientists have been trying to get ice added back onto the map of Greenland in the latest version of the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World. Glaciologists came out in force stating the publisher exaggerated the rate of glacial melt and that scientists were not consulted about the figures.

These glaciologists report that Greenland’s melt should be more like 0.1 percent as opposed to 15 percent from 1999 to 2011, which was stated in publisher’s news release. At first HarperCollins stood by the accuracy of its map. The Guardian reported the publisher as saying, “We are the best there is … Our data shows that it has reduced by 15 percent. That’s categorical.”

But only a day later, HarperCollins’ subsidiary Collins Geo issued an apology saying that the press release with the 15 percent reduction was wrong, although they did not acknowledge that the map itself was inaccurate.

The BBC (via the New York Times) later reported that the publisher was working with scientists to redo the map of Greenland. The Times has more:

[Sheena Barclay, the managing director of Collins Geo,] promised a new, “much more detailed map of Greenland that will represent more effectively the ice cover as it is.”

Asked if by “effectively” she meant “accurately,” Ms. Barclay replied, “It’s a case of actually how you define the ice itself, and at the scales at which we show Greenland it’s actually quite difficult to achieve that.”

The Times reported that climate scientists were especially miffed by this mistake after a similar over exaggeration of glacial melt in the Himalayan Mountains in a 2007 United Nation’s spurred global warming skepticism in 2010”

Glenn Beck is a likeable guy. I try to like Glenn Beck and I agree with him on many subjects. That does not excuse him from being held accountable.

When Glenn Beck started TheBlaze.com he stated that one of the reasons was to counteract the misinformation coming from sites like The Huffington Post. If that was his objective, he has failed.

I searched the following words on TheBlaze.com a few minutes ago.

Lakin
Kerchner
Vallely
McInerney

I got zero results on all four searches.

Of course, all four searches on Citizen Wells yield multiple results.

So Glenn Beck, what is your excuse? Are you a hypocrite, a liar? Do you support the military and the US Constitution? You have far more money and resources that I do. Glenn Beck, what is your excuse?
We are poised at historical moments in this country. Tomorrow, November 23, 2010, CDR Charles Kerchner (Ret) and his attorney Mario Apuzzo, have a  Petition for Writ of Certiorari scheduled for Conference before the US Supreme Court. In mid December 2010, the court martial of LTC Terry Lakin will begin. LTC Lakin refused to deploy to Afghanistan because he believes that Obama is ineligible to be president and Commander in Chief.

On August 31, 2010, Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney supplied an affidavit in support of Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin.

“For the foregoing reasons, it is my opinion that LTC Lakin’s request for discovery relating to the President’s birth records in Hawaii is absolutely essential to determining not merely his guilt or innocence but to reassuring all military personnel once and for all for this President whether his service as Commander in Chief is Constitutionally proper. He is the one single person in the Chain of Command that the Constitution demands proof of natural born citizenship. This determination is fundamental to our Republic, where civilian control over the military is the rule. According to our Constitution, the Commander in Chief must now, in the face of serious– and widely held– concerns that he is ineligible, either voluntarily establish his eligibility by authorizing release of his birth records or this court must authorize their discovery. The invasion of his privacy in these records is utterly trivial compared to the issues at stake here. Our military MUST have confidence their Commander in Chief lawfully holds this office and absent which confidence grievous consequences may ensue.”

On June 5, 2010 Major General Paul E. Vallely, retired stated the following in a speech in Virginia City, Montana.

“We now must call for the immediate resignation of Barry Soetoro (AKA President Barack Hussein Obama) — based on Incompetence, Deceit, Fraud, Corruption, Dishonesty and Violation of the US Constitution.

You know, the site designed to counteract misinformation from sites like The Huffington Post, which, by the way, covered the Lakin court martial.

Glenn Beck, you are getting warm. Beck, on his new site, TheBlaze.com, on September 9, 2010, has an article titled “Proposal: Presidential Candidates Submit Handwritten Copy of Constitution”. I have a better idea, let’s have the presidential candidates actually adhere to the US Constitution.

“What if the president had to hand-write a copy of the Constitution before he took office?

That’s the question Dr. David Corbin and Dr. Matthew Parks of The King’s College-New York City are asking. Corbin is an associate professor of politics, while Parks is the assistant provost.

According to them, the presidential oath “to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States” is one that should be taken very seriously. But “you can’t do this if you don’t know the Constitution or aren’t willing to submit to it,” they say.

So, in a blog post on the First Things website, Corbin and Parks reveal a proposal that “each 2012 presidential candidate … adopt the ‘Constitution Pledge,’ promising to present a hand-written copy of the Constitution to the Chief Justice as he rises to take the oath of office.”

“We’re constantly looking for reminders of just what it is that makes America exceptional,” Corbin told The Blaze. “And our constitution is one of those things.””
