While we are waiting on DC Madam phone records to be released by Montgomery Blair Sibley, There is more information of interest to be perused.

Montgomery Sibley wrote a book published in 2009, “Why just her.”

Why Just Her” identifies the external and internal demons that drove the D.C. Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, from an initially defiant woman willing to fight the government to a woman so despairing as to take her own life prior to sentencing upon her conviction for Prostitution Racketeering. Starting with the execution of search on her home and seizure warrants for her bank accounts in October 2006 through her death on May 1, 2008, the book traces Jeane’s final 20 months as the judicial system time and again failed to live up to its promise to insure ‘justice’. Instead, unwittingly sitting atop a client list of the most powerful men in the world, that system made sure that Jeane’s story would never be fully told.

As usual, one thing led to another and the “Yellow Brick Road” led to an older version of a Sibley website and the Wayback Machine.

Yes and no.  I do identify that clients of Jeane’s escort service included individuals associated with a wide-range of companies, institutions and government agencies including: the Archdiocese of Washington, the Army Capabilities Integration Center, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the US Army Information Systems Command, the National Drug Intelligence Center and the law firms of (i) Jones Day Reavis and Pogue, (ii) Akin Gump Strauss, (iii) The Durst Law Firm, (iv)  Patterson Belknap Webb, and (v) Reed Smith among many others.

Additionally, I note that those clients included: a  Director of the Defense Contract Management Agency; a Commander of the 332rd  Expeditionary Maintenance Group, Balad Air Base,. Iraq; a high ranking officer of Colonel Pipeline Company which had reached a Settlement for Oil Spills in Five States; an Environmental Protection Agency employee; a former President of National District Attorney Association; a Hewlett Packard Director who made substantial contributions to U.S. Senate races; a director of the Association of Foreign Intelligence Officers; a state representative from Louisiana; a member of the Maryland Public Service Commission; a NASA Astronaut; and a Special Envoy for Middle East Security appointed by Condoleezza Rice.

However, as detailed in the book, I have been put under court order not to reveal these names publicly by Judge Robertson.  So I can’t reveal those names only because I risk being incarcerated for contempt-of-court.

Thus the real story became – why was I silenced?  Why did the government want so badly to keep these – and other clients of Jeans’s escort service – from being publicly identified by me?

“December 14, 2007 – Part II

Something curious, however, had happened the morning that I was at court with Judge Robertson. One of the subpoenas authorized by Judge Kessler had been answered, with startling information.

Among the subpoenas that Judge Kessler had authorized in November was a subpoena to Verizon Wireless, to which I had attached a list of 5,902 telephone numbers that had turned up in Jeane’s telephone records. The subpoena had sought the account holder information for each telephone number that appeared in Verizon Wireless’ records on the day the call was made to Jeane’s escort service. All of the telephone companies had been complaining to me that the task was too big, but I kept reminding them that this was a federal subpoena and they would be explaining that to the federal judge who had authorized the subpoena.

Thus, it was a surprise to me when I returned to my office after the December 14th hearing to find a FedEx package from Verizon Wireless containing a CD with Verizon Wireless’ response to the subpoena: 815 account holders names, addresses, social security numbers, and home and business telephone numbers—all contained in an Excel spreadsheet. Each name represented a former escort or client who had a cell phone number that had called Jeane’s escort service when that cell phone number was owned by that person. Stated another way, I now had 815 new leads who had not, heretofore, been identified through the telephone records by anyone.

The leads were stunning. Among the entities whose corporate cell phone numbers showed up were:

  • Archdiocese of Washington
  • Hewlett Packard
  • Akin Gump Strauss, a large law firm
  • The Durst Law Firm
  • Philips Electronics North America

While there might be innocent explanations for company cell phones repeatedly calling an escort service, certainly among the list were former escorts and customers. This supposition was certain as the account holder’s cell phone numbers matched with the date of calls to Jeane’s escort service. Moreover, the list of individuals was also comprehensive and included, among others:

  • a director of the Defense Contract Management Agency
  • a commander of the 332rd Expeditionary Maintenance Group, Balad Air Base, Iraq
  • a high ranking officer of Colonel Pipeline Company which had reached a Settlement for Oil Spills in Five States
  • an Environmental Protection Agency employee
  • a former president of the National District Attorney Association
  • a Hewlett Packard Director who had made substantial contributions to U.S. Senate races
  • an attorney with the prominent Akin Gump law firm (the law firm that fired “Abbey.” an employee upon learning she was an escort for Jeane)
  • a director of the Association of Foreign Intelligence Officers
  • an attorney with Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, another major law firm with deep Washington, D.C. ties
  • a state representative from Louisiana
  • a member of the Maryland Public Service Commission
  • a NASA astronaut
  • a special envoy for Middle East Security appointed by Condoleezza Rice

Plainly, I now had the ability to bring a parade of former clients, companies and government agencies in front of the jury to establish either that (a) no sex was had, or (b) that if sex for money was involved, then “Why Just Jeane?”

However, my dilemma was that Judge Robertson had just quashed this subpoena, meaning that I was not supposed to have, or use, this information.

Moreover, these names were just from Verizon Wireless. Subpoena returns were still outstanding from AT&T Mobility, Sprint/Nextel, T-Mobile USA and Alltel. Those cell phone companies would never respond, as word that Judge Robertson had quashed the subpoenas was apparently rapidly communicated by the Government to prevent these cell phone companies from replying to the subpoenas and further identifying former escorts and clients of Pamela Martin & Associates.

Judge Robertson would subsequently issue a written order overruling Judge Kessler and quashing almost all the subpoenas she had ordered served. Among those quashed were all of the cell phone telephone company subpoenas. As a result, further names and entities would never come to light and those learned through the Verizon Wireless records would, thanks to Preston, likewise never see the light of day.  (N.B. I have now securely stored these records on off-shore servers to be publicly released in the event of my curious disappearance or demise).”

Most of us are aware of Carly Fiorina jumping in at the press conference to deflect a reporter’s question and protect Ted Cruz.

“Monday’s Ted Cruz press conference in Wisconsin, in which former Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina leaped in to intercept a reporter’s question about Cruz’s alleged marital infidelity, was pivotal. It marked the first time we have seen an instance of collective deception in what appears to be a desperate effort to keep Cruz sufficiently unsullied to stop Donald Trump.

The question, posed by Daily Mail reporter David Martosko, was straight and to the point: “Can you please swat down more definitively this National Enquirer piece by telling us on the record that you’ve never been unfaithful to your wife?” It was a question that was screaming to be asked, in light of the deceptive nature of Cruz’s response to the National Enquirer story, which we have previously highlighted.

What ensued reminded us of the old adage, “One lies and the other swears to it.” That Fiorina felt compelled to jump in and rescue Cruz from the question was enormously troubling in itself. Why did she feel she couldn’t just let Cruz respond categorically that he had never been unfaithful? But an even more troubling dimension unfolded as Fiorina launched into a harsh attack on Trump, on the media, and, bewilderingly, on President Obama. The attack behavior was clearly aimed at shifting the spotlight away from Cruz, because, we believe Fiorina must have feared, the truth was not Cruz’s ally.”

The delays in the prosecution and ultimately the appeal of Rod Blagojevich have led many, including myself, to suspect that some deal was struck with Obama and or the Justice Department that he controls.

“We seem to be approaching a “perfect storm” of Obama controversies, any of which would have capsized a Republican president.

Obama’s pals in the mainstream media continue to minimize, mis report, under report and rectify news in an effort to protect Obama and themselves.

However, the brewing storm may be insurmountable for even the best Orwellian efforts of the Obama administration and the press.

Citizen Wells reported in 2008 that Obama had to win the election to keep from being prosecuted for Chicago corruption ties and involvement and for fraud in his eligibility and records. That is, if he is still around then.

The spectre of Obama’s arrest, impeachment or resignation is more with us than ever.

Benghazi Gate.

IRS Gate.

USDOJ Gate.

The Sheriff Joe Arpaio investigation into the Obama birth certificate and other records is proceeding.

There are at least 2 eligibility cases active in state supreme courts.

Judge Roy Moore is the Supreme Court chief justice in Alabama. He has already questioned Obama’s eligibility and Mike Zullo of the Arpaio investigation has provided a lengthy affidavit.

Appellant H. Brooke Paige is awaiting decisions from the Vermont Supreme Court on several issues. He has challenged Obama’s natural born citizen status due to the father being Kenyan/British.

The Blagojevich appeal is still in the works. Many believe he expects a pardon or other assistance from Obama.

The FDIC lawsuit against Mutual Bank et al is still alive. This is the bank that loaned Rita Rezko the money for the lot adjacent to the Obama’s that was subsequently sold to them.

One has to wonder that if Obama appears to be in jeopardy if Blagojevich or even Rezko will talk.

Randall, lets not forget our discussions about these matters. Maybe this is one of those times that calls for a Special Counsel to be appointed.

Trial or not, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered starting with the ones John Chase has never answered.

ABC Brian Ross Blagojevich 2010 interview.

“Former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich recognizes that daunting challenges await as prosecutors prepare to mount a new effort to convict him on corruption charges, but he told ABC News Friday he sees a triumphant political comeback in his future that will be no less dramatic than the one pulled off by Winston Churchill.

“I’m not ruling out doing something I’ve spent my whole adult life doing,” Blagojevich said when asked about a possible return to politics. “I believe some of the greatest stories in history are some of the great comebacks. You think about Winston Churchill, I mean he spent years in the political wilderness … . If Churchill can comeback from something like that, when I’m vindicated, I certainly don’t write myself off.”

Blagojevich sat down with ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross Friday as he embarked on a media tour aimed at recovering his reputation in the aftermath of a (mostly) favorable courtroom verdict – a jury this week found him guilty on only one of 24 counts, lying to federal agents. The panel could not find agreement any of the corruption charges, including most sensational government claim, that he attempted to cash-in the senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama for a new job or for campaign contributions.

The now famous Chicago pol-turned-reality TV star — known better as “Blago” — spent the 80-minute interview casting himself in the role of the persecuted David. Goliath, in this telling, was a team of federal prosecutors that remains hell-bent on collecting the scalp that sits under his generous mop of thick brown hair.

“This is a person determined to get his trophy,” he said of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

Blagojevich told ABC News that shortly after his 2008 arrest, investigators tried to convince him to offer damaging information on “folks in higher places” in exchange for lenience. Blagojevich said that Obama, even more than himself, had a longstanding, close association with Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the Chicago real estate developer who had become the subject of his own federal probe – one that ultimately led to Rezko’s conviction on fraud and bribery charges. The former governor said his very first meeting with Obama, then about to join the Illinois senate, came by way of Rezko’s personal introduction.

Blagojevich said that in late 2008, having just arrived in his jail cell, investigators approached him for information.

“When they had me in custody they were very clear about they wanted me to cooperate and talk about people in higher places ,and with all due respect to Mayor Daley, there’s no one higher than Governor,” he said.

“You’re talking about then president-elect Obama?” Ross asked.

“I’m not saying that right now.” Asked who else he could mean, Blagojevich shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “Is it your impression they were thinking about Obama?” Ross pressed.

“I have my own personal opinion but from where I’m sitting right now it’s probably better for me not to talk about it.” He then grinned, “If I’m guilty of anything it’s that I talk too much.”

The case laid out against the former Illinois governor was built over the course of a six-year investigation that delved into a range of state contracts, political donations, and allegations of backroom deals. Much of it rested on hundreds of hours of recorded telephone conversations, including dozens between Blagojevich and his top advisers. It broke dramatically into the public realm in late 2008, as prosecutors alleged the governor was attempting to cash in an extremely valuable political chit – the newly open senate seat that had been vacated by Obama.

In one tape, Blagojevich can be heard telling an aide “I mean I, I’ve got this thing and it’s [bleep]ing golden … And I, I’m just not giving it up for [bleeping nothing.”

Blagojevich said the tapes may sound boorish, but they only capture what he called “routine” musings and brainstorming with his lawyers and advisers about the options arrayed before him.

“I was discussing ideas,” he said. “Good ones, stupid ones, ugly ones, just discussing ideas, thinking out loud. Discussing different scenarios.”

Ross asked, “You really believe this is routine politics? This is what politics is?”

Blagojevich replied: “It’s routine political horse trading. Say what you will, this is how the system works.”

Later, Blagojevich defended his decision to allow his children to attend his trial – something jurors said afterwards they found distasteful. He said his 14-year-old daughter asked him to allow her to attend. Once he consented, he said his younger daughter, who is seven, did not want to be left behind.

The federal case against him, he added, has taken a severe toll on his family. He recounted how he heard his younger child playing out a conversation between two dolls in which one doll said to the other, “You know I know you lied about me because you want to put me in jail but I’m still your friend.”

“I found that heartbreaking because my little one is actually picking up some of the dynamics of this case where I’ve had some friends that have lied about me and she knows that happens,” the former governor said. “She knows that there was one we didn’t win and the others we’re in a good place on, but we’re going to work on that.”

Blagojevich said that he would, under no condition, accept a plea deal that would require him to admit guilt in any of the corruption allegations – even a deal that allowed him to stay out of prison. On the one guilty count alone, he could face a five year sentence, though he vowed to appeal.

“The real world of politics, Brian, is rough and tumble business,” he said.”

“On an appearance on Sean Hannity’s radio show on Monday, “The Amateur” author Edward Klein revealed the name of a close ally of President Barack Obama that his book alleges offered a $150,000 bribe to Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be quiet until after the 2008 election.

“Well, what happened is that after ABC’s Brian Ross broadcast the video tapes of the Rev. Wright ‘God damning America’ and slamming whites and slamming Jews and America, he was contacted by one of Obama’s closest personal friends — a guy who travels on Obama’s plane, who plays basketball with him, who goes on vacation with him,” Klein said. “His name is Dr. Eric Whitaker. Dr. Whitaker is the vice president of the University of Chicago Medical Center and he’s a member of Obama’s very tight inner circle. And he sent an email to a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.”

Klein reminded listeners that Whitaker’s hospital is the same one that paid first lady Michelle Obama $316,962 a year to handle community affairs for the University of Chicago Medical Center while her husband served in the U.S. Senate.

In an email, Klein said Whitaker had offered Wright $150,000 “if he would shut-up and not criticize Obama anymore.” When Wright refused Whitaker’s offer, Klein said Obama himself personally met with Wright, which supposedly took place after Obama’s March 18, 2008 “race speech,” confirmed by both Wright’s word and the U.S. Secret Service logs.

Whitaker, who attended Harvard Graduate School in the early 1990s with Obama, was known for having been a proponent of Obama’s health care legislation.

Klein also said Wright told him he “made it comfortable” for Obama to accept Christianity without having to renounce his “Islamic background,” which Klein said he has on tape.”

“In yet another scandal-waiting-to-happen linked to the Obama White House, a close friend, advisor and donor of the president’s is being investigated by federal officials for allegedly misusing public funds on faith-based minority outreach programs while he ran the State of Illinois’ health department.

With Obama pal Dr. Eric Whitaker at the helm, Illinois spent millions of taxpayer dollars on highly questionable publicity campaigns to educate African-American and other minorities about common diseases such as AIDS and Herpes in their communities.

Dr. Whitaker was the powerful director of the Illinois Department of Public Health from 2003 to 2007, thanks to a recommendation from his good friend Obama who at the time was a state senator, claims public-interest law group Judicial Watch..

The federal investigation into Whitaker’s minority health programs has been kept under wraps by the Obama Administration but a Chicago newspaper revealed details after obtaining records under the state’s Freedom of Information Act. However, the leftist President’s sycophants within the national news media continue to cover up misdeeds of “all the President’s men — and women.”

Federal grand jury subpoenas obtained by Chicago’s local newspaper disclose that the investigation involves “faith-based initiatives” and health-awareness campaigns funded by the Health Department when Whitaker ran the health agency for the criminally indicted former Illinois Governor-turned court jester Rod Blagojevich.”

“A member of Obama’s tight-knit circle of friends from Chicago’s Hyde Park, Whitaker resigned as Illinois health chief in 2007 to join Michelle Obama as an executive at the University of Chicago.

In 2008, according to Judicial Watch, Whitaker was a fixture within Obama’s presidential campaign and was considered a valued advisor who also helped the then-senator relieve stress with pickup basketball games during campaign stops.

Whitaker and Obama have remained close since meeting during graduate school at Harvard and the doctor has donated money — along with radicals such as Bill Ayers — to Obama’s political campaigns.”

Do not be fooled by the investigation of Jesse Jackson Jr. in the so called selling of Obama’s senate seat. This was a well crafted diversion intended to take the attention away from Obama’s earlier involvement in Chicago corruption with Tony Rezko, Stuart Levine, et al. The investigation of Jackson is another diversion.

I told you in 2008 that Barack Obama had to get elected to avoid prosecution. That applies now as well. Obama may lose the protection of Eric Holder. Patrick Fitzgerald is still wielding his power to protect Obama.

William Cellini is on trial for his involvement in the corruption of the Illinois Teacher Retirement System, TRS. This is being portrayed as the last prosecution in Operation Board Games that began with the cooperation of Stuart Levine and trial of Tony Rezko. If we had a non corrupt US Justice Department there would be a Patrick Fitzgerald trial, Eric Holder trial and Barack Obama trial.

What was Barack Obama doing in the years leading up to 2004?

“FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain, the primary case agent on the investigation into Levine and Rezko, is on the stand now in testimony that is laying the foundation for entering the wiretaps into evidence.

Cain said the investigation, dubbed Operation Board Games by the federal agents, began in December 2003 and was prompted by information gleaned from an informant whom he did not identify. That witness, he said, took part in meetings with two other individuals who were in contact with Levine by phone at his home.

Cain said Levine had three phone lines in his North Shore home. Federal agents recorded conversations on those lines April 8-May 21, 2004. Those dates span the time when Levine, Rezko and others allegedly were working to rig the hospital board vote on a Mercy Health System hospital proposal for Crystal Lake and other kickback schemes prosecutors claim they were engaged in.”

“Stuart Levine, the prosecution’s star witness, said he and Obama were at a party Rezko threw at his Wilmette mansion on April 3, 2004, for Nadhmi Auchi, a controversial Iraqi-born billionaire who Rezko was trying to get to invest in a South Loop real-estate development.

Auchi, now a citizen of the United Kingdom, has faced criminal charges in Europe. He also figured in the revocation of Rezko’s bond early this year after attempting to wire him more than $3 million. Upon learning of that attempt, U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve declared Rezko a flight risk and ordered him held in a federal jail in the Loop.

The Rezko party in 2004 was designed to induce Auchi to pour money into the South Loop investment. Obama’s presence at the party was not previously known. At the time, Obama was fresh off a surprise win in the Illinois Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and was riding a crest of national publicity.”

During his March 14, 2008 interview, the Times told Obama, Thomas is an FBI mole and he “recently told us that he saw you coming and going from Rezko’s office a lot.”

“A longtime political insider in Springfield was indicted today on federal corruption charges for allegedly conspiring with two Chicago businessmen and others to obtain political contributions for a certain public official by shaking down an investment firm that was seeking a $220 million allocation from the state Teachers Retirement System (TRS.) The defendant, William F. Cellini, Sr., was charged in a four-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury, announced Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.”

“Cellini’s alleged crimes – essentially conspiring with others to force Capri Capital, also a real estate investment firm, and Thomas Rosenberg, a principal and part owner of Capri, to raise or donate substantial political contributions for Public Official A – were the subject of testimony earlier this year at the trial of alleged co-conspirator Antoin “Tony” Rezko. Cellini was charged with conspiring with Rezko, former TRS trustee Stuart Levine, the pension fund’s outside lawyer Steven Loren and others between the spring of 2003 and the summer of 2005 to defraud TRS beneficiaries and the people of Illinois of Levine’s honest services as a TRS trustee. TRS, a public pension plan for teachers and administrators in public schools statewide except in Chicago, serves hundreds of thousands of members and beneficiaries and has assets in excess of $30 billion.

Cellini is the 13th defendant charged as part of Operation Board Games, an ongoing federal public corruption investigation of insider-dealing, influence-peddling and kickbacks involving private interests and public duties related to various state boards and non-profit organizations.”

The significance of Stuart Levine’s testimony in the William Cellini trial yesterday went unnoticed except for those of us watching with great scrutiny and keeping the  Obama connection to Chicago corruption stories alive.

 

During the Tony Rezko trial in spring of 2008, Stuart Levine testified:

 

March 18, 2008.

 

“In his first 20 minutes on the witness stand, Stuart Levine admitted that he had passed numerous bribes to win private and government business for several firms with which he was connected.

 

Levine said former Chicago Ald. Edward Vrdolyak acted as a middleman in two bribe schemes, including one to secure a contract with the city Board of Education. On both occasions, Vrdolyak was to pass the bribes onto others, he said.

 

Levine said he also paid a $500,000 bribe to an undisclosed city official to obtain a tire contract from the Department of Streets and Sanitation. Levine also said he passed on bribes of hundreds of thousands of dollars to win a contract to supply school buses to the Board of Education.”

 

Stuart Levine mentioned his bribes to the Chicago Board of Education yesterday, October 17, 2011.

We knew from the Rezko trial that Levine had bribed the Chicago Board of Education. We now know that it happened more than 10 times. This was an ongoing activity. When I read this I intuitively knew that Obama was connected. It did not take long to find out.

 

Obama appointed Arne Duncan as Secretary of Education in 2009. Here is some background on Duncan.

We know that Stuart Levine bribed the  Chicago Board of Education over 10 times and Obama’s buddy Arne Duncan was CEO of Chicago Public Schools from 2001 to 2009.

Arne Duncan worked for Ariel Capital Management  from 1992 to 1998.

Under cross-examination by Rezko attorney Joseph Duffy, star prosecution witness Stuart Levine, a Chicago-area lawyer, is admitting to conspiracy, extortion, bribery, fraud and other bad acts while he “served” at the Illinois public school teachers pension fund board.”

 

“It’s an unfolding, seemingly local political story that’s fascinating in its revealing details about the subterranean world of business, financial and family connections in Illinois and Chicago politics that helped take a virtually unknown black Chicago attorney, nurtured him politically and financially and turned him into….”

 

“This story concerns two men, neither of whom face any legal charges today. They are two of Illinois’ top Democratic politicians — Gov. Blagojevich, who’s been mentioned often in court, and Sen. Get used to that name. Rezko’s currently in a long-running Chicago trial on federal extortion and bribery charges. So far, Blagojevich, reelected in 2006, is more deeply enmeshed in the scandal than Obama, who’s not been implicated in any wrongdoing.

Witnesses in Rezko’s trial have testified that Rezko recommended friends and associates for government jobs and posts on Illinois state boards when Blagojevich took office in 2003, and some of those friends were generous donors to Blagojevich.

 

An early trial exhibit from prosecutors was a spreadsheet. Prepared by an FBI agent , the spreadsheet identifies Rezko-related donors who supplied $1.43 million between 2001 and 2004 to Blagojevich, who was first elected governor in 2002.

 

Using Federal Election Commission and Illinois state records, The Times’ Dan Morain compared donors on the FBI spreadsheet to Obama’s contributors. Guess what.

 

Sen. Obama received $222,000 during the same 2001-2004 period from Rezko-related Blagojevich donors.”

 

“Another overlapping donor is John Rogers, head of Ariel Capital, a major Chicago-based investment firm. Rogers gave $12,500 to Blagojevich in 2004, the FBI spreadsheet shows. Rogers has also given Obama $25,000, state and FEC records reveal.

 

Aides to Obama and Rogers said the pair has a friendship that is separate from Rezko. Ariel vice president Matt Yale said Rogers’ inclusion on the FBI spreadsheet was a surprise, adding, “To the best of our knowledge, we have not made any contributions to Governor Blagojevich or any political candidate on behalf of Tony Rezko.” Ariel is not implicated in the criminal case.

 

As an Illinois state senator, Obama appeared before Illinois pension funds in 2000 and 2001 to urge that they provide more business to black-owned investment houses including, as it happens, Ariel.

 

Describing his efforts to the Urban League last year, Obama said African-American-owned firms were not getting any business from state pensions. Obama singled out Rogers’ Ariel Capital, calling it a well-respected investment house, but one that received no business.

 

“We didn’t have to implement a formal program,” Obama told the Urban League, taking no credit. “I simply said, ‘Listen to what these folks have to say,’ and in about six months they got about a half billion dollars worth of business simply on their own excellence.”

 

In 2002, the year after Obama made the pitch, the Illinois Teacher Retirement System reported an 18% increase in assets managed by minority-owned firms.

 

Ariel’s share grew to $442 million by 2005.

 

In 2006, after the federal investigation became public, the teacher pension board severed its relationship with Ariel, concluding that Ariel’s investment returns were insufficient.”

Remember I have told you that the fix was in in 2006. The presumptive presidential candidate by early 2006 was Blagojevich. By the end of 2006 Obama was preparing to run and Blagojevich was in trouble.

 

The superceding indictment of Stuart Levine and Tony Rezko from October 11, 2006 mentions 7 investment firms tied to the rigging of the IL Teacher’s Retirement System. Ariel Capital Management is not mentioned by name going forward but given the fact that Obama pushed for their inclusion and they pulled out after the investigation, coupled with Obama’s buddies Rezko and Levine documented involvement, the conclusion is obvious.

 

Any way you slice it, it is classic Chicago pay to play politics.

“Attorneys for former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich asked a federal judge on Monday to bar prosecutors from playing any FBI wiretap recordings to jurors at his upcoming retrial, arguing that the evidence at the very heart of the government’s case is unreliable.

The motion argues that Judge James Zagel should throw out the hundreds of recordings of Blagojevich — made in the days before his Dec. 9, 2008, arrest — because many contain gaps where vital context needed to understand the taped conversations may be missing. The 54-year-old Blagojevich faces an April 20 retrial on 23 charges, including that he tried to sell or trade an appointment to President Barack Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat.

Monday’s motion cites the best-known secret recording of Blagojevich in which he is heard saying about the seat: “I’ve got this thing and it’s (bleepin’) golden. … I’m just not giving it up for (bleepin’) nothing.”

The motion claims three gaps totaling four minutes in that one call raise sufficient doubts, though the defense did not offer an alternative interpretation for what Blagojevich might have meant.

Federal agents secretly monitoring wiretapped phones are required to limit what they record to conversations pertinent to an investigation. That can lead them to frequently switch recording devices on and off, a process called “minimization.”

Blagojevich’s attorneys, however, argue that the “pattern of inconsistent and improper minimizations” in the hundreds of recordings in the investigation of the impeached governor justify tossing them all out as evidence.”

“In one motion filed last week, defense attorneys asked Zagel to lift a court-ordered seal on all evidence, including the hundreds of hours of wiretap recordings, arguing that the 2-year-old order barring the public release of evidence impairs Blagojevich’s lawyers more than prosecutors.

Monday’s motion says while defense attorneys don’t want jurors at the retrial to hear any of the recordings, they still want to be able to release them to the public.”

Rod Blagojevich, Tony Rezko, Stuart Levine and Barack Obama are once again being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past.

“Centegra Health System’s plan to build a hospital in Huntley was subjected for the first time Wednesday to public reaction, and it generally was split between other hospitals saying the proposal would drive up health costs and local people believing it was needed and wanted.

The public hearing at Huntley Village Hall was moderated by two officials of the Illinois Health Facilities and Service Board, which must approve any new medical proposal. The board later will hold a hearing on a competing plan by Mercy Health System to build a hospital in nearby Crystal Lake.”

“Mercy Health System is proposing to build in Crystal Lake at Route 31 and Three Oaks Road. Its hospital would include 100 acute-care medical and surgery beds, 20 obstetric and eight intensive care units, an emergency department and a focus on geriatrics. Mercy also is touting its proposed multi-specialty clinic of 45 physicians that would be attached to the hospital.

Mercy’s project would cost $200 million and be paid for with $176 million in bonds and $20 million in cash and securities. The hospital has a planned opening of early 2014.

This isn’t the first time Mercy officials have sought a certificate of need for a hospital in Crystal Lake.

A proposal for 70 beds was shot down by the state board in 2003. Mercy tried again in April 2004 and was awarded the certificate as board members became the target of a federal corruption investigation.

A few months later, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and state lawmakers revamped the board. The Tribune reported in June 2005 that then-board Vice Chairman Stuart Levine planned to split a $1.5 million kickback with former Blagojevich fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko from contractor Jacob Kiferbaum, who was to build the hospital.

Judge Maureen McIntyre revoked Mercy’s permit for the proposed hospital in May 2005. Mercy officials, never charged with any wrongdoing, did not appeal.

The state health facilities board tentatively plans to vote on both proposals May 10.”

“Attorneys for Rod Blagojevich filed a pretrial motion Tuesday seeking what they claimed was missing evidence in the impeached Illinois governor’s corruption trial, including records of a phone call between a Blagojevich aide and then White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

The motion claims the telephone conversation took place just a day before Blagojevich’s December 2008 arrest on charges that include allegations he sought to sell or trade the appointment to President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat for personal gain. The motion says details of that conversation could bolster a defense contention that Emanuel, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, was willing to help with a political deal in which Blagojevich would have named Illinois’ attorney general to the seat.

But the call between Emanuel and then Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris is not among hundreds of transcripts of secret FBI wiretaps recorded before Blagojevich’s arrest. The defense motion points only to circumstantial evidence that it even happened, including a reference in a White House transition-team report from after the arrest that said Emanuel had “about four” conversations with Harris. The defense was given records of only three conversations, according to the motion.

“The fourth and final phone call is the call that is mysteriously missing,” it adds. “Piecing together multiple documents after the first trial, Blagojevich uncovered the fact that the December 8th phone call … took place.”

A message seeking comment left on a voicemail overnight at the U.S. attorney’s office wasn’t immediately returned.

Blagojevich faces 23 charges at his April retrial, after jurors at his first trial last year agreed only on one of 24 counts and convicted him of lying to the FBI. Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have been ordered to file all pretrial motions by next week.

The defense’s latest filing comes just two weeks before Chicago’s mayoral election. Emanuel has a considerable fundraising advantage and leads in polls in the race to replace retiring Mayor Richard Daley.

Emanuel has said little about the Blagojevich case publicly, often citing the ongoing legal proceedings for not commenting in detail. The White House report released in 2008 by the then president-elect’s office concluded neither Emanuel nor anyone else on Obama’s staff had had any “inappropriate discussions” with Blagojevich or his aides.

It found that Emanuel had had “one or two telephone calls” with Blagojevich and “about four” with Harris, who testified for the government at Blagojevich’s first trial.”

Part 1

Like so many articles or series that I write, this series is changing as I write and develop it. I know generally and in much detail what I want to write, but one thing leads to another and I get a lot of input from great commenters on this blog and via email. Commenter TJ just posted a video as I was doing further research and beginning what was going to be part 1.

Michelle Malkin and Sean Hannity on FOX discuss the Blagojevich trial and Obama’s ties.

Malkin, who I respect very much, and Hannity do a pretty good job of analyzing facts from the Blagojevich trial and linking corruption to Obama. They touched on the Health Planning Facilities Board corruption but did not reveal Obama’s ties to that chicanery and the subsequent corrupt maneuvers by the Justice Department. I suppose that will continue to be left to me.

In the next parts I will lay out how the Blagojevich trial played out, why it should have occured many months earlier, why I believed many months ago that the Justice Dept. was corrupt and why actions leading up to and during the trial by the Justice Dept. prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are protecting Obama. This will be much easier for more people to fathom after recent revelations from J. Christian Adams and others.

Blagojevich: “but compared to even Obama, you know, I believe I’m more pristine on Rezko  than him.”
