The Obamas always reveal their agenda. Hopefully enough people are really listening this time.

From the Washington Times September 4, 2012.

“First lady Michelle Obama pleaded with voters Tuesday to reward her husband with re-election, telling delegates at the Democrats’ convention that President Obama comes from humble beginnings but was able to reach the White House by taking advantage of the same kind of social safety net he defends on the campaign trail.

Democrats convened their nominating convention with a mix of sharp barbs against Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his personal wealth, and a defense of Mr. Obama’s first-term record on everything from health care to gay rights.

Seeking to unify Democrats and win over independents with the inspirational story that powered Mr. Obama to an historic election in 2008, Mrs. Obama told delegates her husband is still pushing for the vision voters embraced four years ago.

She said also the president’s push for government programs is personal because they are the foundation he himself used to climb to the White House.

“He believes that when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you — you reach back and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed,” she said, her pointedly personal appeal winning chants of “Four more years” from the frenetic crowd.”

“Mr. Romney is running on a message of cutting spending and lowering government regulations, arguing that smaller government will unleash the private sector to create jobs, which will create economic security for everyone.

But Mr. Obama argues a stronger safety net will provide more even opportunities for everyone.”

“Democrats pointed to a series of laws he’s signed, including health care and the Lilly Ledbetter Act, which overturned a Supreme Court decision and made it easier for women to sue over pay discrimination.

“It says something about his priorities that the first bill he would put his name on, has my name on it too,” Ms. Ledbetter said in addressing the convention.

She also challenged Mr. Romney to take a stand on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would open up still more opportunities to sue over pay discrimination.”

“Democrats shied away from the federal budget during their opening session, instead focusing on social issues such as abortion and women’s and minority rights.

In opening the convention on Tuesday, delegates voted by voice to adopt their platform, becoming the first major political party to specifically endorse same-sex marriage as an option. The platform also defends labor unions and demands a higher minimum wage; calls for stricter gun control laws; and lays out a plan to grant illegal immigrants a full path to citizenship.”

As expected, they used the benevolent sounding phrase “Social safety net.” The Democrats are big on that and they should be. They are great job destroyers. However most of us want a safety net to be just that. Something to catch any of us if an exception occurs, not a substitute for jobs.

From Forbes September 4, 2012.

“Food-Stamp Use Climbs To Record, Reviving Campaign Issue”
“Food-stamp use reached a record 46.7 million in June, the government said, as Democrats prepare to nominate President Barack Obama for a second term with the economy as a chief issue in the campaign.

Participation was up 0.4 percent from May and 3.3 percent higher than a year earlier and has remained greater than 46 million all year as the unemployment rate stayed higher than 8 percent. New jobless numbers will be released Sept. 7.

“Unemployment is stubbornly stuck,” making it difficult to significantly reduce the number of food-stamp recipients, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in an interview last month.”

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-04/food-stamp-use-climbed-to-record-46-7-million-in-june-u-s-says.html

Obama and the Democrats are in bed with law firms and attorneys. That is why these statements were made.

This is also why there is no tort reform in Obamacare.

“Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March 16, 2012 under the Affordable Care Act.”…Guilford College student

“Can we stop calling ObamaCare the Affordable Care Act now?”…Ron Meyer

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any Party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments which he would not be able to understand, much less answer. And yet he was in the right! They were wrong and he was right. The obvious, the silly, and the true had got to be defended. Truisms are true, hold on to that! The solid world exists, its laws do not change. Stones are hard, water is wet, objects unsupported fall towards the earth’s centre. With the feeling that he was speaking to O’Brien, and also that he was setting forth an important axiom, he wrote:

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984”

The lying SOB Barack Hussein Obama and his entourage of left wing associates and his repertoire of lies are coming to my state, North Carolina, and I am damned fed up with Obama’s lies.

Recently Michelle Obama spoke at UNCG in Greensboro, NC and carried on the tradition of Obama lies.

“This election is a choice about the health of our families. And listen to this — the fact is that over the past century — okay? — 100 years, so many of our Presidents have tried and failed to meet the challenge of health reform. But your President was determined. (Applause.) See, but Barack was driven by the stories of the people he met — the grandparents who couldn’t afford their medications; the families going broke because a child got sick; the woman dying of cancer whose insurance company wouldn’t cover her care. And that is what kept him going day after day. That’s why he fought so hard for this historic reform.”

“Because of this reform, our children can stay on our insurance until they’re 26 years old. (Applause.) So they don’t have to lose their health care when they graduate and they’re out there looking for a job, trying to build their lives.”

“This election, it’s a choice about whether our kids can attend college without a mountain of debt. Now, believe it or not, back when Barack and I were first starting out, and we were building our lives together, and we were so in love — (laughter) — we still are — (laughter and applause) — but our combined student loan bill each month was actually higher than our mortgage. Now, I know there are people out there who can relate to that. So, believe me, when it comes to student debt, Barack and I, we’ve been there. And that is why Barack doubled funding for Pell Grants and fought so hard to stop student loan interest rates from increasing. (Applause.) Because he knows how important it is for all of our young people to get the education they need for the jobs they deserve. “

“I want you to tell them how many jobs he created. Tell them how much money he’s put back in the pockets of American people. You can tell them that more of our kids can afford college;”

This insurance premium has been charged to your student account.”

Why the increase? “Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March 16, 2012 under the Affordable Care Act.”

So, Obama cares and Romney doesn’t???

From the Washington Post September 2, 2012.

“Obama pins ‘Romney doesn’t care” label on foe for health view, says of Obamacare: ‘I do care’”

“Campaigning his way toward the Democratic National Convention, President Barack Obama slapped a “Romney doesn’t care” label on his rival’s health-care views Sunday and said Republicans want to repeal new protections for millions without offering a plan of their own.

Vice President Joe Biden swiftly broadened the attack, accusing Republicans of seeking to undermine the decades-old federal program millions of seniors rely on for health care. “We are for Medicare. They are for voucher care,” he said.”

“Obama spoke on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, and made his by-now familiar plea for students to register and vote. He benefited enormously from the support of younger voters four years ago and can ill-afford a fall-off in their support — or enthusiasm— in 2012.

Democrats regard passage of a sweeping health care law as a high point of achievement for Obama during his term. Yet the law has also unified Republicans who argue it amounts to a government takeover of the health care system and a budget-buster to boot.

Obama has lately been eager to answer his critics, and he did more than that in his speech.

“Gov. Romney promised that on his first day in office he’s gonna sit right down, grab a pen and repeal Obamacare,” the president said, referring to the law by the name Republicans first attached to it as an insult.”

“What that means is that right away he’d kick 7 million young people off their parents’ plan. He’d take hope away from tens of millions of American with pre-exiting conditions by repealing reform,” the president said.

“You know, he calls it Obamacare. I like the name. I do care. …. I don’t know exactly what the other side is proposing; I guess you could call it ‘Romney doesn’t care.’ But this law is here to stay.””

“Health Insurance Costs Skyrocket For College Students Due To ObamaCare”

“Can we stop calling ObamaCare the Affordable Care Act now?

A Young America’s Foundation activist forwarded an email from the Vice President for Finance at his school, Guilford College (Greensboro, NC), informing him that, “For the 2012-13 academic year, the annual cost of the student health insurance is increasing from $668 to $1,179. This insurance premium has been charged to your student account.”

Why the increase? “Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March 16, 2012 under the Affordable Care Act.”

Guilford College has been forced to raise their student premiums 76 percent, yet this administrator still insists on calling it the Affordable Care Act.

Seems a bit ironic, to say the least.

Guilford joins a long list of colleges raising their premiums. Virtually all current student insurance plans do not meet ObamaCare’s mandates, and Forbes reports colleges have been forced to drop their plans or raise their premiums rates as much as 1,112% (and no, that’s not a typo).

Most students like their current healthcare, but they can’t keep it.

In the email to Guilford students (available in full here), the VP of Finance lays out exactly why they were forced to hike costs:

“As a result, all collegiate student health plans with an effective date of July 1, 2012 or after must provide a minimum benefit of at least $100,000 per policy year, have no limits on benefits deemed essential by the Act, and provide a preventative care benefit with no deductible, co-pays or co-insurance. In compliance with these mandates, (emphasis added) the following changes have been made to the College’s student health insurance policy.

“For the 2012-13 academic year, the annual cost of the student health insurance is increasing from $668 to $1,179.”

For those who don’t understand insurance mandate regulation jargon, this means catastrophic health insurance plans (primarily covering accidents only) have been banned for students. Students, who often don’t need luxury plans, prefer lower cost policies with fewer benefits. This allowed for much more affordable premiums.

Student healthcare choice has been replaced with expensive ObamaCare mandates.

That’s why it’s not just happening at Guilford (a small liberal arts college with around 2,700 students). Some of the most egregious cost hikes include:

The State University of New York in Plattsburgh raised their premium from $440 per student to between $1,300 and $1,600;
Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, NC) raised theirs from $245 to $2,507; and
· The University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) raised theirs from $165 to between $1,500 and $2,000.
Young Americans are already dealing with record-smashing college debt and unemployment, and the Obama administration should answer for these added costs to students.

President Obama will be traveling to campuses across the nation this week trying to sell ObamaCare to young people. Students on campus–or any conservative leaders visiting campus–need to call the Obama administration’s bluff.”

“I have met and talked with many college students. Recently a UNCG student, who is struggling to support his family and attend school, confided in me that the recent tuition and health care increases (mandatory health care insurance almost doubled) could force him to leave school.

From Citizen Wells May 2, 2012.

“The UNC system began requiring students to be covered by health insurance in the fall of 2010. Students must either prove that they have their own insurance or buy a plan offered by the UNC system. Before that, 11 campuses required insurance; rates and coverage varied significantly among the schools.

On top of rising tuition and fees, those UNC system students who buy the university-sponsored health insurance plan will face steep premium increases in the next academic year.

Blagojevich prosecution delays protect Obama, Part 1, Blagojevich arrest delayed after 2008 election, Patrick Fitzgerald USDOJ had key witness and crimes

“Why wasn’t Rod Blagojevich, Governor of IL, prosecuted before Tony Rezko, a businessman?”…Citizen Wells

“Why did Patrick Fitzgerald and the US Justice Department wait until December 2008 to arrest Rod Blagojevich?”…Citizen Wells

“Blagojevich’s name has been mentioned often. It was brought up at least 30 times Wednesday morning by Stuart Levine, the government’s star witness against Rezko.”…Tony Rezko trial

“Regardless of how this plays out, it benefits Obama. If there is no appeal or the appeal is denied, Blagojevich will be sequestered. If the appeal proceeds, it could drag out beyond impacting the 2012 election cycle. The intent is obvious.”…Citizen Wells, July 19, 2011

Part 1

The Blagojevich arrest was delayed

Was Barack Obama the original plan for the presidency by the DNC and Chicago Machine? Rod Blagojevich envisioned himself in that office. But in a high
profile position as Governor of Illinois, with brashness by nature and a less stealthy approach to pay to play politics than Obama, the feds began investigating him in 2003 and reports soon hit the Chicago media of corruption in his administration.

The bulk of the charges in the Criminal complaint, indictment and evidentiary proffer and indeed, what the Tony Rezko trial centered around, took place from 2003 to 2005. They include much activity involving the TRS, Teacher Retirement System, Hospital construction approval, a plan to shakedown Children’s Memorial Hospital, appointments to state government such as Ali Ata to the Illinois Finance Authority and real estate transactions involving Blagojevich’s wife Patti.

One of the clearest examples of impacting the citizens of Illinois was the corruption of the TRS.

2003: “Of the five funds, the one in the sorriest shape is the Illinois Teacher Retirement System, which provides the pensions for suburban and downstate
teachers. Its ratio of assets to liabilities stood at a mere 52 percent last year, so poor that it was considered among the five worst-funded plans in the
country.”  Chicago Magazine March 23, 2011

“Rezko’s partner in the Rezmar development company, Daniel Mahru, is referred to as “Individual Z” in the indictment, and according to court filings, Rezko told Mahru that “$500 million” of TRS money was earmarked for their company. Mahru is reportedly cooperating with federal investigators.”

“In addition to lining their own pockets, the money gained through the scheme was funneled to the campaigns of Blagojevich and Obama. Prosecutors have identified two $10,000 payments that were made to Obama’s US Senate campaign through straw donors Joseph Aramanda and Elie Maloof, which originated from a kickback paid by investment firm, Glencoe Capital, to secure approval for a $50 million deal. Evelyn Pringle, “Operation Board games for Slum Lords”

Hospitals:

“The brief conversation was between Levine and Rezko on April 24, 2004, just three days after Levine said he and Rezko had rigged a vote of a state hospital
planning board to approve a controversial hospital in Crystal Lake. Hospital contractor Jacob Kiferbaum was going to pay Levine and Rezko $1 million in
bribes if the Crystal Lake facility won approval, Levine has testified.

Levine testified that he called Rezko on April 24 to set up a meeting to discuss their next shakedown target: Children’s Memorial Hospital. Just minutes
before Levine called Rezko, Levine had hung up with a money manager from the investment banking firm Bear Stearns named Nicholas Hurtgen, who prosecutors say was a confederate in past Levine kickback schemes.” Rezko trial, March 21, 2008

So, why would the prosecution of Blagojevich be delayed despite the fact that he profoundly affected the citizens and state of IL?

  • Obama had a clear role in the rigging of the health planning board.
  • Obama played a role in cronyism affecting the TRS, Teacher Retirement System.
  • Obama had long time and regular associations with Tony Rezko and was as Blagojevich stated in a wiretap “more tony’d up than me.”
  • A blagojevich trial before the 2008 elections would have stopped Obama. Tony Rezko would not talk about Obama, Blagojevich did and would.

The following facts make the argument that Rod Blagojevich should have been arrested long before December 8, 2008 and before Tony Rezko.

  • Blagojevich began scheming as soon as he entered office. From the Blagojevich arrest press release. “The charges include historical allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with others – including previously convicted defendants Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others – since becoming governor in 2002 to obtain and attempt to obtain financial benefits for himself, his family and third parties, including his campaign committee, Friends of Blagojevich, in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.”
  • Pamela Meyer Davis began wearing a secret FBI wiretap  in late 2003 to record conversations involving state health planning board.
  • Most of the corruption in the Tony Rezko, Stuart Levine and Rod Blagojevich indictments took place between 2003 and 2005. Counts 1, 2 and 4 in the Blagojevich Indictment were eventualy dropped. Those counts covered that time period and represented approximately half of the indictment.
  • “FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain, the primary case agent on the investigation into Levine and Rezko, is on the stand now in testimony that is laying the foundation for entering the wiretaps into evidence. Cain said the investigation, dubbed Operation Board Games by the federal agents, began in December 2003 and was prompted by information gleaned from an informant whom he did not identify. That witness, he said, took part in meetings with two other individuals who were in contact with Levine by phone at his home. Cain said Levine had three phone lines in his North Shore home. Federal agents recorded conversations on those lines April 8-May 21, 2004. Those dates span the time when Levine, Rezko and others allegedly were working to rig the hospital board vote on a Mercy Health System hospital proposal for Crystal Lake and other kickback schemes prosecutors claim they were engaged in.” Rezko trial March 12, 2008
  • June 7, 2004: Stuart Levine, member of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, abruptly resigns. This is the first indication that the Blagojevich administration is under federal criminal investigation.
  •  July 2, 2004: Stuart Levine resigns from the state Teachers’ Retirement System board.
  •  May 9, 2005: Stuart Levine indicted on corruption charges. Federal subpoena issued to Tony Rezko.
  •  Sept. 15, 2005: Joseph Cari, former lawyer for the state’s teacher’s pension board pleads guilty to extortion. A high ranking public official is described in court documents only as “Public official A.”
  •  Oct. 25, 2005: The Chicago Tribune reports about a federal grand jury investigation into the alleged political hiring practices of the Blagojevich administration.
  •  Aug. 5, 2006: The Chicago Tribune reports that Stuart Levine is cooperating with the federal investigation of state government.
  • Sometime  between May 9, 2005 and August 5, 2006, Levine has begun cooperating with the feds. Levine knows almost as much as Rezko and becomes the key witness in the Rezko trial and other prosecutions. The Feds know plenty about Blagojevich at this point.
  •  Oct. 11, 2006: Tony Rezko is indicted on federal charges he sought millions of dollars in kickbacks and campaign donations from firms seeking state business.
  • So far everything seems normal and makes sense.  The next move should be to indict Blagojevich. Blagojevich, the governor, versus Rezko, the businessman, has the power to corrupt state government, has been doing so and thanks to Levine, the Feds know the details. If you have any doubts about this, read the transcripts of the Rezko trial. For example: “Gov. Rod Blagojevich has avoided answering questions about the corruption trial of Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the other day declaring, “I’m not in that case.” But Blagojevich’s name has been mentioned often. It was brought up at least 30 times Wednesday morning by Stuart Levine, the government’s star witness against Rezko. Rezko trial March 19, 2008.
  • Patrick Fitzgerald and the feds wait over 2 years, until December 9, 2008 to arrest Blagojevich and then state they are trying to protect the citizens of Illinois. From the Government’s Sentencing Memorandum, signed by Patrick Fitzgerald and filed on November 30, 2011: “By way of comparison, Antoin Rezko,…received a sentence of 126 months imprisonment for corrupt activity that he engaged in directly with Blagojevich or with Blagojevich’s tacit approval. Yet, Rezko:(a) held no elected office of trust;”
  • Oct. 22, 2006: Obama publicly states he is considering a run for the Presidency.
  • Oct. 27, 2006: Stuart Levine pleads guilty in a scheme to squeeze millions of dollars from firms seeking state business. Court papers contain  allegations that Rezko and  Christopher Kelly were using their influence for corrupt purposes.
  • November 7, 2006 USA Today reports: “Despite scandal, Gov. Blagojevich wins re-election in Illinois” “U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has said he is investigating “very serious” allegations of hiring fraud at multiple agencies under Blagojevich.”
    http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote2006/IL/2006-11-07-governor_x.htm
  • January 16, 2007:”Judicial Watch filed an open records lawsuit against the office of Governor Rod Blagojevich (D-IL), who is under federal investigation on several fronts, including corrupt hiring practices. Judicial Watch’s lawsuit, filed on January 16, 2007 in the Cook County, Illinois Circuit Court, specifically seeks, among other documents, any and all grand jury subpoenas received by the Governor’s office or any state agencies under the Governor’s control.”  http://www.judicialwatch.org/blagojevich
  • October 28, 2007 the Chicago Tribune reports: “Removing a governor” “The public disappointment in Rod Blagojevich, whose tenure follows the corrupt regime of George Ryan, should launch a public debate: Do the people of this state want a way to say to their politicians, “You are serving your interests, not ours. You are dismissed.”” http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_columnists_ezorn/2007/11/gnad.html
  • May 2, 2008 a governor recall initiative was narrowly defeated. “State government is hemorrhaging with scandal and corruption,”  Sen. Dan Cronin, sponsor.
  • June 4, 2008 Tony Rezko convicted on 16 of 24 counts. Counts 1, 11, 12, 14, 15 were related to Mercy Hospital and the rigging of the Planning Board.
  • Dec. 9, 2008 Blagojevich is arrested. “Fitzgerald said, “We make no allegations” that Obama was aware of any alleged scheming by Blagojevich.”
  • Jan. 9, 2009 IL House votes 114 to 1 to impeach Blagojevich.
  •  Jan 29, 2009 IL Senate removes Blagojevich from office.

Having read the above, forget for a moment the supposition that Patrick Fitzgerald and the US Justice Department were protecting Obama and ask the simple question:

Why was Blagojevich left in office until December 2008?

Good question, eh?

Some truths are ageless and I often quote Shakespeare.

For example:

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”

Patrick Fitzgerald stated after the Blagojevich arrest:

“The complaint makes no allegations about the president-elect whatsoever.”

“We make no allegations that he’s aware of anything.”

“But we ask that the press, in particular, recognize that we are not casting aspirsions on people other than the two people we charged and bear that in mind and be responsible.”

Fitzgerald admits that the crime spree had been going on for years.

“I just think it’s very, very disturbing that we have these pay-to-play allegations going on for years.”

Yes, disturbing.

And I would add, criminal.

I stand by earlier statements that the selling of the senate seat was a well crafted diversion. The facts presented above and in coming articles will make this intuitively obvious.

Obama DNC convention September 2, 2012, Obama house built on sand, Obama corruption past still haunts despite efforts to hide

Obama DNC convention September 2, 2012, Obama house built on sand, Obama corruption past still haunts despite efforts to hide

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”…Matthew 7:24-27

Just as Obama’s unwise “house of sand” economy has collapsed, symbolically, the sand sculpture bust of  Obama has been damaged by the water and wind.

From the Washington Times September 1, 2012.
“Rains wash away Mount Obama in Charlotte, N.C.”
“A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama — an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.

Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.

The sand sculpture was protected from above, and Mr. Obama’s face didn’t see too much damage. But the storm was so strong that its heavy winds blew the rain sideways, pelting the president’s right side and leaving the sand pockmarked and completely erasing his right elbow.

Democrats’ choice of Charlotte has drawn criticism from unions who don’t like North Carolina’s labor laws, and the state seems to be tilting away from Democrats politically.

The large Rushmore-style sculpture drew comparisons to Mr. Obama’s 2008 convention in Denver, when he accepted his party’s nomination on a stage that looked like a Greek temple.”

Deja vu for Obama Democrat Convention.

The Obama camp and mainstream media, in conjuction with the US Justice Department, spared Obama from more embarrassing questions about his ties to Chicago pay to play corruption with the delay of the arrest of Rod Blagojevich until after the 2008 election. This time around, the appeal process for Blagojevich has been delayed.

From Citizen Wells August 25, 2012.

“You have read it here at Citizen Wells for some time. The delays in prosecuting Rod Blagojevich were designed to protect Obama. You also read here that the appeal process for Blagojevich would drag on past the election. We now have more proof.”

“It’s been almost eight months since Blagojevich was sentenced on Dec. 7, 2011. His attorneys discussed how they’d appeal six days after that.

“Well there’s a tremendous amount of work to do now, we need to read through all the transcripts,” defense attorney Lauren Kaeseberg said. “There’s two trials, there’s a significant amount of work.”

“But FOX Chicago News learned that since then, that first key step toward an appeal – getting the 16,000 pages of transcripts – has not yet been accomplished.

“They have to file briefs. The briefs have to be based on alleged errors that occurred in the course of the trial,” Kent College of Law professor Richard Kling said. “Those errors, if they occurred, are reflected in the transcript.”

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals recently warned Kaeseberg that she could face monetary or disciplinary sanctions if she didn’t explain why the transcripts weren’t done yet.

Kaeseberg responded by producing these emails she had sent to Judge James Zagel’s court reporter, asking for the transcripts.

Finally, about two weeks ago, the court reporter filed her own motion asking for more time, saying she had taken a leave of absence for five and half months and has been swamped with work since her return.

She has now promised to have the transcripts done by late September, with any appellate review not likely for months after then.”

As you can see, appeals cases transcripts are expected to be produced in a timely fashion. There are numerous clearly defined rules for processing them. The responsibilities and contingencies are well covered.
So why is this possibly a perfect Chicago crime?

First of all, without a doubt, this protects Obama again during an election cycle. News from a Blagojevich appeal stays out of the media as does Blagojevich himself.

Secondly, this is another nail in the coffin of judicial misconduct during the Blagojevich prosecutions and another reason for an appeals court judge to throw out the convictions.

Who engineered these delays and who is responsible?”

From Boston.com August 31, 2012.
“Bernanke: With unemployment high, Fed can do more”

“Chairman Ben Bernanke made clear Friday that the Federal Reserve will do more to boost the economy because of high U.S. unemployment and an economic recovery that remains ‘‘far from satisfactory.’’

He also argued that the Fed’s moves so far to keep interest rates at record lows and encourage borrowing and spending have helped bolster the economy.

Bernanke stopped short of committing the Fed to any specific move, such as another round of bond purchases to lower long-term rates. But in a speech at an annual Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Wyo., Bernanke said that even with rates at super-lows, the Fed can do more.

After Bernanke’s comments were released at 10 a.m. Eastern time, stocks initially gave up most of their earlier gains. But as investors digested the speech, stocks bounced back. By late morning, the Dow Jones industrial average was up more than 100 points. Broader stock indexes also surged.

Bernanke noted that further action carries risks but says the Fed can manage them. The Fed ‘‘should not rule out’’ new policies to improve the job market, he said.

The most dramatic step the Fed could take would be another round of bond buying. This is known as quantitative easing, or QE. In two rounds of QE, the Fed bought more than $2 trillion of Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities. Many investors have been hoping for a third round — QE3— to be unveiled as soon as the Fed’s next policy meeting in September.

In light of Bernanke’s comments Friday, some analysts said that might be a stronger possibility now.”

“In his speech, Bernanke cited studies showing that the Fed’s first two rounds of bond purchases created at least 2 million jobs.”

“Bernanke’s comments Friday made clear that the economy has a long way back to full health.

‘‘Unless the economy begins to grow more quickly than it has recently, the unemployment rate is likely to remain far above levels consistent with maximum employment for some time,’’ he said.”

“‘Fact Checkers’ AWOL After Obama Spokesperson Lies About Jobs Created Under Reagan and Obama”

“Obama campaign spokesperson Stepanie Cutter, appearing on MSNBC earlier this week, claimed that “over the past, you know, 27 months we’ve created 4.5 million private-sector jobs. That’s more jobs than in the Bush recovery (or) in the Reagan recovery.”

A Thursday Investor’s Business Daily editorial plaintively asked: “Where are those allegedly unbiased fact-checkers when you need them?” As will be seen shortly, the answer is “AWOL.”

First, to debunk Cutter’s lie (source: Bureau of Labor Statistics):”

“Thanks to the graph, yours truly doesn’t need to bore readers with lots of numbers. Outside of very small blips, there is virtually no point on the above graph where the trajectory of job growth under Obama is as high as that seen under Reagan, even though the Reagan-era workforce was about one-third smaller. If done on percentage of workforce, the slope of the Reagan-era ascent would be even steeper.

For those who crave some numbers — In its first 37 post-recession months, the economy under Reagan added more than 9.8 million nonfarm payroll (NFP) jobs, over 7 million more than the 2.7 million added under Obama. To replicate the Reagan-era performance, the economy under Obama would have needed to add over 14 million jobs since the recession’s end; it has really added less than 20% of that. The Reagan-era private sector margin is over 5.7 million jobs.

And of course, there’s an obvious point to be made about the unemployment rate, as IBD noted:

What’s more, after 29 months of allegedly stellar job growth under Obama, the jobless rate is still 8.3%. By this point in the Reagan and Bush jobs recoveries, the unemployment rate was 7.2% and 4.9%, respectively.
If we were one of those fact-checking organizations, we’d give Stephanie Cutter the “Lying Liar from Liersburg” award.
A Google News search done this morning on “Stephanie Cutter Reagan” (past week, not in quotes, sorted by date with duplicates) returned six items (the final result listed pre-dates Cutter’s lie). The results are from American Thinker, Real Clear Politics (2), National Review, Washington Examiner, and United Liberty.

The same search at the Associated Press’s main site returned nothing.

AP’s “Presidential Campaign Fact Check” appears to be limited to what the presidential and vice-presidential candidates say. The wire service is currently carrying its interview with President Obama, naturally headlined “AP INTERVIEW: OBAMA CALLS ROMNEY’S IDEAS ‘EXTREME’,” on its “Top Story” page. Zheesh.

As to “fact-checkers” like PolitiFact and others, nothing demonstrates that they have turned themselves into just another tool of leftist bias than the “fact” that they haven’t called out Stephanie Cutter’s lie for four days and counting while trying and failing to nitpick the Romney campaign over its true statement about women’s job losses during the recession several months ago. PolitiFact falsely claimed it was “Mostly False.”

Oh, by the way, as James Pethoukouis noted in his second crucifixion of Cutter’s comment (his original post relating to Reagan is here), “both the Reagan and Bush recoveries were stronger than the current recovery under President Obama.””

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tom-blumer/2012/08/26/fact-checkers-awol-after-obama-spokesperson-lies-about-jobs-created-unde

Obviously, congress is mostly at fault. The Democrats controlled both houses beginning in 2007 to create a “perfect storm” of failing liberal policies with the help of Obama.

Consider the following:

Reagan inherited an economic mess from Carter. Many of you remember the long gas lines and 18 percent mortgage rates from the Carter years.

In January 1983, 2 years after Reagan took office, the unemployment rate was 10.4 percent. In January 1989, when reagan left office, the rate was 5.4 percent.

When George Bush took office in January 2001, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent. When the Democrats took control of congress in January 2007, the rate was 4.6 percent.

So, the impact of a Democrat congress with the addition of Barack Obama in January 2009 led to an unemployment rate of 9.1 percent in January 2011.

The Republicans took control of the house in January 2011. The stated unemployment rate is 8.3 percent but would be much higher if so many folks had not dropped out of the labor force.

From the Ulsterman,  February 24, 2012.

For a bit of contrast check out thiscomparative chart detailing the Reagan recovery vs the Obama recovery. One president charged ahead with plans to greatly reduce taxes, lessen regulations, and pushes to increase domestic energy production in the United States. The other president – Barack Obama, called for more taxes, more regulation, and has fought increasing domestic energy production at every opportunity – such as his shutting down of the much-needed Keystone pipeline:”

“The truth is clear – the Obama presidency has been a near-complete disaster for working Americans.  This might explain a term growing in popularity of late – “ABO”  –  Anybody But Obama in 2012…”

In print in NC, the Rhino Times August 23, 2012.

“Four years ago the stars lined up for Obama. He got into the Democratic primary in order to get name recognition and maybe a slot in President Hillary Clinton’s cabinet. Then the accidental candidate won Iowa and realized that with one more primary win – South Carolina – he could be president.

Everyone loved Obama because of his unlikely story, and he gave great speeches. Some noticed that he didn’t really say anything in the speeches, but those who noticed were mostly Republicans and nobody paid any attention to them.

The media went gaga. They reported only the good stuff about Obama. And the Republicans couldn’t have helped more. They nominated an old worn-out, politically compromised senator who had been in Washington for so long he actually thought he could run with the same running mate as former Vice President Al Gore. Failing that he picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who, as it turned out, was a brilliant pick for about two weeks. But then McCain turned her over to the political buffoons who were running his campaign, and Katie Couric in one interview completely destroyed Palin’s credibility. But there you have it, the news media stepped in and did what Obama needed to have done to make certain he would win.

Apparently this election is going to be different. Newsweek has come out with a cover that reads, “Hit The Road Barack. Why We Need A New President.”

I subscribed to Newsweek for about 15 years. I stopped my subscription recently, and even when the renewals got down around $10 a year I refused to bite because I was tired of reading about the messiah who we had elected president. There was nothing that Obama could do that wasn’t wonderful in the eyes of Newsweek. Since I already receive White House press releases, Newsweek seemed redundant.

Now, Newsweek has on its cover that Obama must go and it is a well-written, factual article. The very fact that Obama cheerleader Paul Krugman felt the need to instantly challenge the article is evidence of its damaging effect.

The article goes through the promises that Obama made at his inauguration and how he has failed to keep them. The economy is the big issue. But there are others, like promising no middle-class tax increase when Obamacare is a huge tax increase on the middle class, and we know it is a tax because the Supreme Court said it was.

, , ,

Usually you have to wait until after the election for the dirt to come out about campaign staffs, but there is already an e-book out about the 2012 Obama campaign and how it is beginning to fall apart.

One of the passages in the book is about how Obama doesn’t make big economic decisions because he doesn’t understand what he is supposed to be deciding.

Obama has no knowledge or experience that would indicate that he understands economics at an international level. Obama thought there was such a thing as a “shovel ready” government project when he signed the $1 trillion stimulus package. It was only much later when the money wasn’t being spent that he found out that shovel-ready projects are a lot like unicorns, people may talk about them but you can’t really put your finger on one.

If the Obama 2012 campaign kickoff is a foreshadowing of things to come it is going to be a long fall for Obama. The kickoff did exactly what a campaign doesn’t want to ever do: It put the candidate in front of thousands of empty seats. Obama just doesn’t have the drawing power that he did and the campaign realized too late that despite all of their efforts they weren’t going to fill the arena.

It’s not the way you want to kick off a campaign. A candidate is better off speaking to a crowd of 200 in an overflowing room than a crowd of 10,000 in a 20,000-seat arena. That is campaigning 101. It wasn’t such a bad mistake but it is a sign that Obama’s 2012 campaign is not going to be anything like his 2008 campaign.

, , ,

If you are getting your news from ABC, it’s time to stop. The networks other than Fox all tilt strongly left, but ABC is willing to lie, or else is filled with total incompetence. All of us in the news business make mistakes. Last week we managed to misspell sheriff, but ABC has taken mistakes to a new level. First, it reported that the Aurora, Colorado, shooter was a member of the Tea Party. He wasn’t, but someone with a similar name was. This is a huge story and you simply don’t make that kind of mistake in an election year by accident. Second, when ABC called the shooter’s mother she said, “You have the right person,” meaning she was the mother of the young man they were asking about. ABC managed to interpret that to mean, “Yes, my son did the shooting,” which is a really bizarre interpretation and sounds a lot like the leaps of faith that the News & Record makes.

Third, ABC reported that filmmaker Tony Scott, who jumped to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles, had inoperable brain cancer. He did not. ABC, sadly, is simply putting rumors and innuendo on the air as news. Any of the three mistakes could be explained away, but all three is a pattern. Nobody is watching the store.

If you get your news from ABC try Fox for a while, at least until there is a housecleaning at ABC. Until they clean house, including getting rid of the parking lot attendant and the custodial service, they are going to keep having problems.”

High jobless rates persist in NC, Greensboro News Record, August 25, 2012, Guilford county 5.3 percent when Democrats took congress 10.2 percent now

“North Carolina currently has the fourth-highest unemployment rate in the country and has stayed well above the national average through 2012.”…WRAL, August 17, 2012

“We tried our plan—and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”…Barack Obama

Are there 2 versions of the Greensboro News & Record?

One in print with the facts for the older generations and one watered down for the younger folks on the internet. One designed to protect Obama?

The print edition, to my surprise and delight, has for months been presenting the truth about the economy and Jobs in NC.

From the front page top of the Print edition of the Greensboro News & Record August 25, 2012.

“High jobless rates persist in N.C.”

“Unemployment rates dropped or remained the same in most of North carolina in July, but joblessness remains high throughout the state.

In Guilford County, the unemployment rate fell by 1.3 percentage points to 10.2 percent in July, compared with 11.5 percent in July 2011.”

“But while more people now have jobs, analysts say local labor market conditions are still in distress. John Quinterno, a principal with South by North Strategies, an economic and social policy research firm, siad the labor market still isn’t generating enough jobs for all of the people who need them.”
“Is it an improvement to what it was when it was 11 percent? Yes…but it still doesn’t take away that there’s still a 10 percent unemployment rate, which is extraordinary,” Quinterno said.”

“Consider this: The unemployment rate in Guilford County was at 5.3 percent in July 2007. It hit it’s highest level—11.8 percent—in July 2009 during the height of the recesion.”

Guilford County had a  5.3 percent unemployment rate when the Democrats took control of congress in 2007.

From the internet version of the Greensboro News & Record August 24, 2012.

“Local unemployment decreases”

“Unemployment in Guilford County fell by 1.3 percentage points to 10.2 percent in July compared with 11.5 percent in July of 2011.

The Greensboro-High Point metro area, which covers employees in both cities, also fell to 10.2 percent in July from 11.5 percent in July 2011.

The state overall reported good news compared with this time last year, according to a news release from the N.C. Department of Commerce – Labor and Economic Analysis Division.

“Rates either dropped or remained the same in most of North Carolina in July,” said N.C. Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Dale Carroll. “Compared to the same time last year, nearly all of the state’s counties have a lower unemployment rate.”

North Carolina had 34 counties that were at or below the state’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 9.8
percent. Unemployment rates decreased in eight of the state’s 14 Metropolitan Statistical Areas.

The rate increased in two and stayed the same in four.

The number of workers employed (not seasonally adjusted) increased in July by 12,968 to 4,249,084, while those unemployed fell 1,362 to 462,255.

Since July 2011, the number of workers unemployed decreased 50,996, while those employed increased 60,772.

Currituck County had the state’s lowest unemployment rate in July at 4.7 percent, and Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 17.6 percent.”
