Kathleen Sebelius Obamacare Senate testimony November 6, 2013, Sebelius continues Orwellian spin, Many lose health insurance, Premiums and deductibles rise, People’s cancer or diabetes or Parkinson

“If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan.”…Barack Obama

“millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.”…NBC News October 29, 2013

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

For a momemt let’s forget the crony capitalism involved in developing the Obamacare website.

Let’s ignore the incompetence in the government interaction with the software developers.

Let’s also ignore the security issues.

Let’s even ignore the impact on the economy and jobs.

As revealed at Citizen WElls on multiple occasions, the impact on our health care system and the public depending on it is the scariest part of Obamacare.

Kathleen Sebelius provided testimony about Obamacare before the Senate Finance Committee on November 6, 2013. Here are some exerpts.

Sebelius:

“I recognize that there is an even higher level of accountability, accountability to the sick, the vulnerable, the struggling Americans who deserve better health care. The impact on the lives of everyday people is getting lost. I know this because I hear their stories, as I’m sure many of you do.”

“Now, some have asked why not just delay implementation of the new law until all of the problems are fixed. And there is a pretty straightforward answer. Delaying the Affordable Care Act wouldn’t delay people’s cancer or diabetes or Parkinson, didn’t delay the need for mental health services or cholesterol
screenings or prenatal care. Delaying the Affordable Care Act doesn’t delay the foreclosure notices for families forced into bankruptcy by unpayable medical bills. It doesn’t delay the higher cost all of us pay when uninsured Americans are left with no choice but to rely on emergency rooms for care.

So for millions of Americans, delay is not an option. People’s lives depend on this. Too many hardworking people have been waiting for too long for the ability to obtain affordable health insurance. We want to save families from going bankrupt if we want to save the lives of more of our friends and neighbors by allowing them to detect medical issuers early. If we want to keep prices down, delay is not an option.”

“you can keep your plan. The vast majority of Americans who are insured are in the employer market or in public plans or in veterans’ plans, and the — those plans have stayed in place and continue to offer benefits.

The 11 million people who are in the individual market, a majority of those individuals will keep plans that now will have stronger coverage and others will have to choose if they have a brand new plan and not a grandfathered — have to choose of a plan that they no longer get medically underwritten –”

Sebelius interchanges:

“SEN. PORTMAN: Let me ask you a final question, and it’s about covering the uninsured. We’ve talked about the promises on you can keep the coverage, the cost being less rather than more. We haven’t talked about coverage. Is it true that after all this sound and fury and all this bureaucracy and 19 new taxes and
over a trillion dollars of new spending and so on, that still 30 million Americans 10 years from now, after full implementation of this, will not have healthcare insurance. Is that accurate?

SEC. SEBELIUS: I hope that’s not the case.

SEN. PORTMAN: You hope it’s not, but do you believe it’s accurate? Because that’s what the Congressional Budget Office tells us.”
“SENATOR PATRICK TOOMEY (R-PA): Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Thank you, Secretary Sebelius.
As concerned as I am about the huge problems with the website, I’m more concerned with some of the underlying fundamental design problems with this legislation that are starting to manifest themselves, and I want to share with you just a few short emails from the hundreds and — probably, actually, thousands and thousands of emails that I’ve received from Pennsylvanians conveying some of the concern. And in particular, how the false promises are affecting real people; in this case, my constituents.

I got an email on October 11th from a dad from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and I’m going to quote this.

He said, “I recieved notice last week that my health care will more than triple. Currently I am paying $265 a month for me and my two young sons. On January 1st, 2014, my monthly premium will be $836 a month.” He said, “The president promised you can keep your plan and families will save $2,500 per year. I
can keep my plan; I just can’t afford it. I do qualify for subsidies — 80 bucks a month.” Well, there was a promise that families were going to save money with this. It’s clearly not the case for this family from Bucks County.

There’s another promise which has been alluded to several times, which we all know famously the president and others have said: If you like your health insurance, you can keep your health insurance. A woman from
Lancaster County sent me an email. And it’s short. I’ll quote it. She says, “I’m a two-time breast cancer survivor and I’m facing the loss of insurance as of March 1st, 2014. President Obama said that if we liked our insurance we’d be able to keep it. That was obviously untrue,” end quote.

A third promise that we repeatedly heard was that if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. I got an email on October 7th from a woman from West Moreland County. And I’ll quote. She said, “I’ve been self-employed for 13 years and have never been without health insurance. Three years ago I was diagnosed
with multiple sclerosis. Having an expensive pre-existing condition was not a problem for me as I had never let my insurance lapse. My medication cost without insurance would be $4,000 per month.

“I received notice several weeks ago that they were now going to cancel my plan and were doing so as of January 1st, and I had to sign up for a new coverage through the health insurance exchange. If my coverage is not in place before January 1, I’ll have to go without my medications. This may cause permanent
disability: blindness, inability to walk, speech problems. I’m not disabled now, nor am I on Social Security disability. Any plan I find that would cover me channels me right back to signing up through the exchange.

I’m a small business owner and a productive member of society. I own my own house. Now I’m in trouble.”
We called this woman and we discussed this. It turned out there were two options available to her through the exchange. One option would allow her to continue to see the doctors that have been treating her. The other option would cover the medication she needed. Neither option would cover both.

These anecdotes I think — well, it’s clear to me they’ve been repeated many, many times, I think millions of times across the country. And it’s a huge problem. So I guess my question for you is, I understand that this
administration is never going to want to repeal this bill. I get that. I understand that you’ve delayed whole sections of it but don’t seem to want to delay the individual mandate, for instance.

My question is, are there any changes you want to recommend that we could make to this bill so that the promises that were made by the president, by yourself, by others for these people — promises which clearly are not being kept — could actually, in fact, be kept? Are there any that you’d be willing to recommend to us?

SEC. SEBELIUS: Well, Senator, I’d be happy to work with members of Congress who want to achieve the goals of the bill, which are to provide, for the first time, affordable health coverage for millions of people who don’t have it. And an additional goal of the bill I would say is to, in the marketplace, the last remaining
market where people have been denied coverage — because about a quarter of the people who seek insurance can’t get it at all, medically underwritten, denied because of a pre-existing condition — where they have an opportunity to move forward.

And if there’s some frameworks that you have in mind — what I really want to do is get the program up and running and get information to people about how they can take advantage of the –”

From Citizen Wells November 5, 2013.

“A San Diego woman says she has been kicked off her insurance plan due to Obamacare while battling Stage 4 gallbladder cancer.

“I had great cancer doctors and health insurance,” Edie Littlefield Sundby wrote in a Sunday Wall Street Journal op-ed. “My plan was canceled. Now I worry how long I’ll live.”

“For almost seven years I have fought and survived Stage 4 gallbladder cancer, with a five-year survival rate of less than 2 percent after diagnosis,” she said.

Her op-ed, which received significant attention from conservatives online, comes as millions of Americans are being dropped from their health insurance plans because of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

Sundby will be released from her current plan effective Dec. 31. She said her only options going forward are to either enroll in Obamacare and lose her cancer doctors, or to start her treatment all over again with a new provider at rates that are approximately 40 to 50 percent more expensive.

Worse than just losing her doctors through Obamacare, Sundby said, is that nothing available through the government-run program comes even close to comparing with what she had through her private insurer.”

“Dean and Mary Lou Griffin sit their home in Chadds Ford, Pa. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. The Griffins liked the health insurance they purchased for themselves three years ago and thought he would be able to keep the plan even after the federal Affordable Care Act took effect. But they recently received a letter notifying him the plan was being cancelled because it didn’t cover certain benefits required under the new law. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)
MIAMI – Dean Griffin liked the health insurance he purchased for himself and his wife three years ago and thought he’d be able to keep the plan even after the federal Affordable Care Act took effect.

But the 64-year-old recently received a letter notifying him the plan was being cancelled because it didn’t cover certain benefits required under the law.

The Griffins, who live near Philadelphia, pay $770 monthly for their soon-to-be-terminated health care plan with a $2,500 deductible. The cheapest plan they found on their state insurance exchange was a so-called bronze plan charging a $1,275 monthly premium with deductibles totalling $12,700. It covers only providers in Pennsylvania, so the couple, who live near Delaware, won’t be able to see doctors they’ve used for more than a decade.”

I listened to the following Sean Hannity Radio Show segment live.

Higher premiums, deductibles and glitches, and of course the authors, portend failure for Obamacare.

From The Blaze October 21, 2013.
“FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SEAN HANNITY CALLS OBAMACARE HOTLINE”

“Fox News and conservative radio talk show host Sean Hannity called the Obamacare hotline on-air Monday afternoon — and things quickly got awkward.

Hannity, who first had to navigate through the automated menu, was eventually connected with representative Erling Davis.

“You are on the radio, you are on the Sean Hannity radio show,” the radio host informed Davis. “You’re on the radio. Is that OK with you? You have to say yes if you want to be on.”

“It’s OK, sir,” Davis replies.

“How is the call volume today?” Hannity then asked. “Because the president gave out your phone number today. Did you know that?”

“I did not know that, sir,” she says.

Hannity then explained to Davis that he is having problems enrolling in President Obama’s signature health care program using the healthcare.gov website.

“Right now from what I heard our system is down for the next like 42 hours,” Davis said. “So no one is able to get in, but if they call us we can help them fill out an application as long as they went online to create an account first.”

“Well that’s the point, I can’t get online to create an account, so how would I be able to create the account if the website is down for the next 42 hours?” Hannity asked.

“You would have to wait until those 42 hours is up,” Davis replied.”

Vermont Supreme Court Obama eligibility, October 18, 2013, H. Brooke Paige appeal, VT justices rule case is moot, Obama already president???

Vermont Supreme Court Obama eligibility, October 18, 2013, H. Brooke Paige appeal, VT justices rule case is moot, Obama already president???

“Why has Obama, since taking the White House, used Justice Department Attorneys, at taxpayer expense,  to avoid presenting a legitimate birth certificate and college records?”…Citizen Wells

“Barack Obama, show me the college loans.”…Citizen Wells

“It is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial
department to say what the law is. Those who apply the rule to
particular cases, must of necessity expound and interpret that
rule. If two laws conflict with each other, the courts must
decide on the operation of each.”

“If then the courts are to regard the constitution; and the
constitution is superior to any ordinary act of the legislature;
the constitution, and not such ordinary act, must govern the
case to which they both apply.”
“The judicial power of the United States is extended to all
cases arising under the constitution. Could it be the intention
of those who gave this power, to say that, in using it, the
constitution should not be looked into? That a case arising
under the constitution should be decided without examining the
instrument under which it arises?  This is too extravagant to
be maintained.”

“Why does a judge swear to discharge his duties agreeably to the
constitution of the United States, if that constitution forms no
rule for his government? if it is closed upon him, and cannot be
inspected by him?”… Marbury versus Madison

I received the email from H. Brooke Paige last night.

“VT Sup Court ruled today. Interesting decision that will allow us to
proceed to SCOTUS.”

Instead of expediting this case the lower court and VT Supreme Court dragged their feet thus making their decisions after the election.

In essence, the case is moot because Obama is already president and cannot run again.

“BURGESS, J. Plaintiff H. Brooke Paige appeals a decision by the Washington Superior Court, Civil Division, granting a motion to dismiss by the State and its Secretary of State James Condos.[1]
Plaintiff contends the trial court erred in dismissing the suit on jurisdictional grounds because injury to his life, liberty, and property confers standing, as do Vermont election statutes, 17 V.S.A. §§ 2603 and 2617. Plaintiff
also asserts that the past presidential election does not render his case moot because this Court can still provide declaratory relief. We disagree, and dismiss the appeal as moot.”

“¶ 6. The central question now before this Court on appeal is whether the mootness doctrine bars review of plaintiff’s case. Plaintiff argues this case is not moot because the Court can provide relief by declaring that Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen, and asserts that a controversy continues through plaintiff’s efforts to safeguard his life, liberty and property. Plaintiff also contends that this case satisfies two exceptions to the mootness doctrine. First, plaintiff anticipates that a situation involving an ineligible presidential candidate is capable of repetition yet evades review because President Obama may run for a third term if Congress repeals the Twenty-Second Amendment, or other presidential candidates not born of two U.S. citizens are likely to run
for president in the future. Second, plaintiff asserts that he suffers negative collateral consequences as a result of Barack Obama’s presidency that impact his life, liberty, and property.

¶ 7. The case is moot. Neither exception advocated by plaintiff applies here. Accordingly, this Court need not address plaintiff’s other arguments on standing or the merits.”

“¶ 9. Recognized principles of mootness apply to the present case because it no longer involves a live controversy. Plaintiff has no legally cognizable interest in the outcome. Barack Obama’s name was on the ballot, and he is now the President of the United States. President Obama is also unable to seek re-election.
U.S. Const. amend. XXII. The issuance of an advisory opinion assessing the merits of plaintiff’s argument about the meaning of “natural born Citizen” is beyond this Court’s constitutional prerogative. See In re Keystone
Dev. Corp., 2009 VT 13, ¶ 7, 186 Vt. 523, 973 A.2d 1179 (mem.) (explaining that this Court lacks authority to render an advisory opinion).”

Blagojevich appeal delayed again by federal prosecutors, October 16, 2013, Prosecution given more time for brief, Ongoing delays help Obama, Shutdown controversy kept attention off of Obama’s problems

“Why did Judge James Zagel allow only 2 percent of the Blagojevich wiretaps to be released?”…Citizen Wells

“I can tell you that, based on court rules and procedures, Judge James Zagel carries some of the blame for the delay in the transcripts.

The question is, what was Judge Zagel’s motivation?”…Citizen Wells

“Regardless of how this plays out, it benefits Obama. If there is no appeal or the appeal is denied, Blagojevich will be sequestered. If the appeal proceeds, it could drag out beyond impacting the 2012 election cycle. The intent is obvious.”…Citizen Wells, July 19, 2011

While controversy after controversy, manufactured crisis after manufactured crisis plays out, the problems from Obama’s past and present are mostly hidden from the public and do not get the attention they deserve.

One of those problems, with close ties to Obama’s corrupt Chicago past is the Blagojevich prosecution and appeal.

From My Fox Chicago October 11, 2013.

“Prosecutors get more time in Blagojevich appeal”

“A federal appellate court has given prosecutors more time to prepare their brief in former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s appeal of his corruption convictions.

Federal prosecutors made the request on Friday. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals responded, allowing them until Nov. 4. Any response from Blagojevich’s attorneys would be due by Nov. 18. Prosecutors’ brief was due Oct. 21.”

“Lawyers for Rod Blagojevich filed an appeal Monday challenging the imprisoned former Illinois governor’s corruption conviction and stiff, 14-year prison term.

The appeal.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/154180774/Blagojevich-Appeal

From Citizen Wells September 16, 2013.

“The median time from filing a notice of appeal or docket date to final disposition decreased from 11 months to 9.8 months.”

http://www.uscourts.gov/Statistics/JudicialBusiness/2012/us-courts-of-appeals.aspx

The Rod Blagojevich Notice of appeal was filed on December 22, 2011.

Almost 2 years later we are nowhere near disposition.

But in the legal scrutiny of Rod Blagojevich, this is a short span considering the fact that the wiretapping of his associates began in late 2003.

“The following facts make the argument that Rod Blagojevich should have been arrested long before December 8, 2008 and before Tony Rezko.

  • Blagojevich began scheming as soon as he entered office. From the Blagojevich arrest press release. “The charges include historical allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with others – including previously convicted defendants Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others – since becoming governor in 2002 to obtain and attempt to obtain financial benefits for himself, his family and third parties, including his campaign committee, Friends of Blagojevich, in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.”
  • Pamela Meyer Davis began wearing a secret FBI wiretap  in late 2003 to record conversations involving state health planning board.
  • Most of the corruption in the Tony Rezko, Stuart Levine and Rod Blagojevich indictments took place between 2003 and 2005. Counts 1, 2 and 4 in the Blagojevich Indictment were eventualy dropped. Those counts covered that time period and represented approximately half of the indictment.
  • “FBI Special Agent Daniel Cain, the primary case agent on the investigation into Levine and Rezko, is on the stand now in testimony that is laying the foundation for entering the wiretaps into evidence. Cain said the investigation, dubbed Operation Board Games by the federal agents, began in December 2003 and was prompted by information gleaned from an informant whom he did not identify. That witness, he said, took part in meetings with two other individuals who were in contact with Levine by phone at his home. Cain said Levine had three phone lines in his North Shore home. Federal agents recorded conversations on those lines April 8-May 21, 2004. Those dates span the time when Levine, Rezko and others allegedly were working to rig the hospital board vote on a Mercy Health System hospital proposal for Crystal Lake and other kickback schemes prosecutors claim they were engaged in.” Rezko trial March 12, 2008″

“Why wasn’t Rod Blagojevich, Governor of IL, prosecuted before Tony Rezko, a businessman?

Why did Patrick Fitzgerald and the US Justice Department wait until December 2008 to arrest Rod Blagojevich?

What were Obama and Blagojevich discussing just after the 2008 election and just before Blagojevich was arrested?

ObamaBlagoNov2008

I told you this would happen over 2 years ago.

Obama Obamacare shutdown deal, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, October 16, 2013, Senate bill ends shutdown

From Politico October 16, 2013.

“Senate reaches deal to end shutdown, avert default”

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will soon announce an agreement to reopen the government and avert default on U.S. debt, according to several sources familiar with the talks.
The leaders are expected to unveil the accord on the Senate floor at noon.

The House is prepared to move on the Senate’s bill first, sources say, a move that would clear a path to end the first government shutdown in 17 years and avoid an economy-shaking default on U.S. debt. House Republican leadership said there’s no decision yet on whether to move the bill first.
“No decision has been made about how or when a potential Senate agreement could be voted on in the House,” said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel.

It remains unclear when a final vote would occur in the Senate. If no senator blocks action there, that chamber could hold a vote before the House.
Sen. Ted Cruz, who led the crusade to dismantle the health care law in the government funding bill, declined to answer repeated questions from reporters Wednesday morning about whether he would block the deal.
But Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he felt lawmakers were ready to end the fiscal crisis that has consumed Capitol Hill for more than two weeks.”

From the Rhino Times October 10, 2013.
“The federal government is shut down, but I have to admit I don’t miss it. According to Forbes, the shutdown only effects 13 percent of the federal government.

It appears that President Barack Hussein Obama is using his power as president to make the shutdown look as dire as possible. Not only are national parks closed, but in Florida the federal government has closed the ocean. Florida Bay, 1,100 square miles of ocean, is closed to fishermen. The US Park Police, which doesn’t have time to leave the bay open and let people fish, has rangers out enforcing the closure and making sure that people don’t fish.

It is incredible but along the same lines as closing the World War II Memorial, which is an open air memorial that normally people can visit 24 hours a day unassisted. There appear to be a couple of reasons for closing the memorial. One is that Obama seems to hate the military, and the other is because it is supposed to create bad publicity for the Republicans who, according to Obama, closed down the government.

The Republicans in the House offered a number of compromises, but the Democrats, who control the Senate, and Obama refused to compromise. The last compromise offered by the Republicans was to delay the individual mandate for Obamacare for a year. Obama already delayed the mandate for employers with over 50 employees, so some parts of Obamacare are negotiable.

According to Forbes, 80 percent of nonmilitary funding involves taking money from taxpayers and giving it away. These programs, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment and disability, are not affected by the shutdown.

So 80 percent of the work of the government continues shutdown or no shutdown.

It seems that as most of what goes on in Washington, this shutdown is mostly just rhetoric. How bad can it be for nonessential government employees to go home? Most businesses sent their nonessential employees home a long time ago, if they hadn’t already been shown the door. The economy since 2008 has forced companies to get rid of deadweight to stay in business. While government has simply continued to grow.

A president who really cared about the American people would do everything he could as the chief of the executive branch to make the shutdown as easy on the American people as possible. It wasn’t the World War II veterans who tried to visit the World War II memorial that caused the shutdown, but they are among the ones paying the price because Obama has ordered the memorial to close. It takes more personnel to close the memorial than to leave it open.

The National Park Service not only closed Yellowstone, it locked guests in a hotel on the property. And when they were allowed to leave, the park service refused to allow the bus to stop at a privately operated facility in the park for a bathroom break. They were also denied the opportunity to get out of the bus and take photos of a herd of bison because the park rangers said they were not allowed to “recreate” on park property. Is refusing to let a group of senior citizens use restrooms on a two-and-a-half-hour drive really necessary because the House won’t do what Obama told them to do?

But Obama went one better on the government shutdown.

According to Congressman Tim Huelskamp’s office, a priest was denied access to a military chapel at Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay in Georgia. The priest has a contract with the Department of Defense to say Mass for Catholics on the base, but when he arrived to say Mass there was a sign on the door of the chapel that read: “Shutdown: No Catholic service until further notice.”

This is a coup for Obama because it allowed him with one blow to attack two institutions he has no use for – the military and the Catholic Church.
Unfortunately, that was not an isolated incident and priests have been told that they can be arrested if they perform Mass or hold other religious services on military bases.
So a military couple based overseas who want to have their child baptized risk arrest for doing so. Does that make any sense and is that what we want the federal government to be doing – shutdown or no shutdown.

It is clear from his actions that Obama has set out to punish the American people because he is mad with the Republicans in the House of Representatives.
He’s angry with the Republicans in the House because they will not allow him to do whatever he wants to do. Obama wants Obamacare and he wants all the money he can possibly spend. The Republicans simply said, “We’ll give you one, but you can’t have both.”

Obama is probably also mad because due to the shutdown he has suspended his weekly golf outings and that must be killing him.”

“Over the last six months, of the net job creation, 97 percent of that is part-time work,”…Keith Hall, former BLS chief

From the US Labor dept. BLS.
“Statement on release of September employment numbers”

“The Department of Labor issued the following statement about the September 2013 Employment Situation report:

“Due to the lapse in funding, the Employment Situation release which provides data on employment during the month of September, compiled by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, will not be issued as scheduled on Friday, October 4, 2013. An alternative release date has not been scheduled. The Employment Situation release includes the unemployment rate (from the household survey) and payroll employment (from the business establishment survey).””

From Gallup October 3, 2013.
“U.S. Payroll to Population Rate at 43.5% in September”

“The U.S. Payroll to Population employment rate (P2P), as measured by Gallup, fell slightly to 43.5% in September, from 43.7% in August. P2P has declined more than a percentage point from the 45.1% found in September 2012.”

“The percentage of part-time workers wanting full-time work was 9.4% in September, up from 8.7% in August and from 8.6% last September. This suggests the decline in the unemployment rate is actually due to more Americans taking part-time jobs rather than gaining the full-time employment they want.”

“Gallup’s unadjusted and seasonally adjusted unemployment rates experienced month-over-month and year-over-year declines in September. However, Gallup’s P2P rate — the percentage of all adults in the U.S. population who are employed full time — fell slightly compared with August and is 1.6 points lower than it was in September 2012. This means fewer people are unemployed, but not because they found full-time jobs. The percentage of part-time workers wanting full-time work increased last month from August and from September 2012, suggesting that some of those who were unemployed left the workforce or found part-time work, but not the full-time jobs they are seeking.”

“Obama is by character and preference, a dictator…Like Hitler, he needs a powerful domestic army to terrify any opposition that might arise…Obama will put a thin veneer of training and military structure on urban gangs and send them out to channel their violence against Obama’s enemies.”…Orson Scott Card, Rhino Times May 16, 2013

“An ominous new development within the HJ was the appearance of HJ-Streifendienst (Patrol Force) units functioning as internal political police, maintaining order at meetings, ferreting out disloyal members, and denouncing anyone who criticized Hitler or Nazism including, in a few cases, their own parents.” …TheHistoryPlace.com

“When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”…Adolf Hitler

Great News!

The Rhino Times, formerly The Rhinoceros Times, is back in print in NC.

John Hammer, the editor, will continue to reveal the truth about local politicians as well as Obama, et al.

I met with John this morning and congratulated him.

Roy Carroll, a local real estate developer, is the new owner.

“Roy Carroll Takes On New Job”

“As the publisher of the new Rhino Times, a position I’m not yet completely comfortable with, I was asked to say a few words about the vision of our publication. First, let me assure my high school English teachers I will not be contributing weekly to the paper’s content.
I would like to emphasize that this is a new venture and regular readers of The Rhinoceros Times will see dramatic differences between that paper and the Rhino Times.”

“My job at the Rhino Times is not to manipulate the news but to give our seasoned staff the resources they need to produce a quality weekly publication that is hard hitting and also entertaining. I will not be dictating the day-to-day content of our paper, though at times I intend to toss John ideas on stories that I think might be interesting to our readers – just as anyone else has the right and is encouraged to do.

In the end, John will decide which stories to cover. I will not have any say when it comes to local political endorsements. I have made clear to the staff that they are to make endorsement decisions in a “vacuum” without outside influence, including from me. This includes my commitment to refrain from funding the campaign of any local candidate. I am not comfortable with the idea of the publisher of a paper that makes political endorsements also funding local candidates, so I will not contribute to any local political campaigns.”

From John Hammer October 3, 2013.

“President Barack Hussein Obama drew a red line in the sand and made it clear that if Syria used chemical weapons there would be reprisals. He then said that the US would attack Syria and that it would not be a pinprick. Then he decided he would ask Congress if it thought it was a good idea to attack Syria. Then he decided not to ask Congress and then he decided to essentially do nothing and let the Russians handle it by pretending to inspect.

So the next time Obama gives an ultimatum to a country is there any reason for that country to pay any attention to him? If he follows through the next time, the country will claim discrimination because he didn’t follow through on Syria.”

“Obama was never vetted by the press for a host of reasons, but a contributing factor was that once he appeared on their radar screens he was the apparent Democratic nominee and they didn’t want to find out anything bad about him because that might hurt his chances of beating the Republican in the fall.
What the Republicans should have learned is that they are not going to get a moderate elected president. The Republicans need to nominate someone so conservative that the mainstream media cringe when they have to say his or her name. The Democrats learned their lesson. Obama is not even close to being a moderate. He is as far left as any Republican even being considered is to the right.”

“One huge cause of the problems with Obamacare that seems to be somewhat lost in the current implementation is that nobody expected the Obamacare bill as it originally passed to become law. The normal route for a sweeping bill of this nature is for one house of Congress to pass a bill and then for the other house to pass a similar bill, and then there are endless negotiations between the two until they come up with something that both sides can pass. Later, revisions are made as the bill is honed into something workable.

Because in the midst of the Obamacare debacle the Democrats lost their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, the only way to pass the bill was as it passed the first time with no amendments or changes. So the bill that is supposed to reform health care in the United States is unfinished and wasn’t read by the people who voted for it. The truth is they didn’t know what they were voting for but there was tremendous pressure to get it done because it was the only chance they had to pass the bill. The death of Sen. Ted Kennedy and the special election to replace him is what changed everything. No one expected Kennedy to be replaced by a Republican, ending the Democrats unchallenged rule in the Senate so quickly. Obama and the Democrats can’t admit that even they don’t want the entire bill to go into effect because they don’t have the votes to go back and amend it. So they are forced to support a law that they know is going to have to be changed, but the Republicans aren’t going to pass any amendments, so the Democrats are stuck defending a bill they know to be terribly flawed.

Obamacare as it is being implemented may be enough to put the final nail in the coffin of a struggling economy. It encourages businesses to hire people for less than 30 hours a week and avoid the cost of providing health insurance. It’s a no-brainer for small businesses that employ a lot of people in low-level positions, like restaurants.

We could become a part-time economy where it is typical for people to have two and three jobs. It is also going to be a huge drain on the economy because it isn’t going to be cheaper, as Obama promised, and the smart thing for young people to do is nothing until they need health care and then sign up.
Health insurance is a huge mess, but it’s hard to see how this is going to make things better.”
“The American people never find out what was really going on in a presidential election until long after the votes are counted. But now we are learning how Obama outwitted Mitt Romney and the Republican Party during the election. While Romney was campaigning in a traditional fashion, traveling around the country making speeches, Obama was doing the same, but he was also quietly working on two fronts that brought in enough votes to get reelected.
One was that Obama was using his power as president to buy votes. All presidents do this to a certain extent, but Obama took it to new levels in a number of areas, including food stamps and cell phones. A voter who just received an Obama phone is far more likely to remember to go to the polls and vote for the man who is responsible for providing that phone. Obama more than doubled the amount of money spent on providing Obama-phones to a staggering $2.1 billion. The same for food stamps. Obama increased the number of people on food stamps by 70 percent.”

CBO report 2013 Long Term Budget Outlook, September 17, 2013, Debt trend unsustainable, Between 2009 and 2012 largest budget deficits since 1946, Federal debt 73 percent of GDP higher than any point in US history except World War II

CBO report 2013 Long Term Budget Outlook, September 17, 2013, Debt trend unsustainable, Between 2009 and 2012 largest budget deficits since 1946, Federal debt 73 percent of GDP higher than any point in US history except World War II

“What do you think a stimulus is? It’s spending – that’s the whole point! Seriously.”…Barack Obama

“…and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They [socialists] always run out of other people’s money. It’s quite a characteristic of them.”…Margaret Thatcher

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

From the CBO September 17, 2013.

“The 2013 Long-Term Budget Outlook”

“Between 2009 and 2012, the federal government recorded the largest budget deficits relative to the size of the economy since 1946, causing federal debt to soar. Federal debt held by the public is now about 73 percent of the economy’s annual output, or gross domestic product (GDP). That percentage is higher than at any point in U.S. history except a brief period around World War II, and it is twice the percentage at the end of 2007. If current laws generally remained in place, federal debt held by the public would decline slightly relative to GDP over the next several years, CBO projects. After that, however, growing deficits would ultimately push debt back above its current high level. CBO projects that federal debt held by the public would reach 100 percent of GDP in 2038, 25 years from now, even without accounting for the harmful effects that growing debt would have on the economy (see the figure below). Moreover, debt would be on an upward path relative to the size of the economy, a trend that could not be sustained indefinitely.

Federal Debt Held by the Public Under CBO's Extended Baseline

Budget Projections For The Next 10 Years

The economy’s gradual recovery from the 2007–2009 recession, the waning budgetary effects of policies enacted in response to the weak economy, and other changes to tax and spending policies have caused the deficit to shrink this year to its smallest size since 2008: roughly 4 percent of GDP, compared with a peak of almost 10 percent in 2009. If current laws governing taxes and spending were generally unchanged—an assumption that underlies CBO’s 10-year baseline budget projections—the deficit would continue to drop over the next few years, falling to 2 percent of GDP by 2015. As a result, by 2018, federal debt held by the public would decline to 68 percent of GDP.

However, budget deficits would gradually rise again under current law, CBO projects, mainly because of increasing interest costs and growing spending for Social Security and the government’s major health care programs (Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and subsidies to be provided through health insurance exchanges). CBO expects interest rates to rebound in coming years from their current unusually low levels, sharply raising the government’s cost of borrowing. In addition, the pressures of an aging population, rising health care costs, and an expansion of federal subsidies for health insurance would cause spending for some of the largest federal programs to increase relative to GDP. By 2023, CBO projects, the budget deficit would grow to almost 3½ percent of GDP under current law, and federal debt held by the public would equal 71 percent of GDP and would be on an upward trajectory.”

“Looking beyond the 10-year period covered by its regular baseline projections, CBO produced an extended baseline for this report that extrapolates those projections through 2038 (and, with even greater uncertainty, through later decades). Under the extended baseline, budget deficits would rise steadily and, by 2038, would push federal debt held by the public close to the percentage of GDP seen just after World War II—even without factoring in the harm that growing debt would cause to the economy.

By 2038, CBO projects, federal spending would increase to 26 percent of GDP under the assumptions of the extended baseline, compared with 22 percent in 2012 and an average of 20½ percent over the past 40 years. That increase reflects the following projected paths for various types of federal spending if current laws generally remain in place (see the figure below):

  • Federal spending for the major health care programs and Social Security would increase to a total of 14 percent of GDP by 2038, twice the 7 percent average of the past 40 years.
  • In contrast, total spending on everything other than the major health care programs, Social Security, and net interest payments would decline to 7 percent of GDP, well below the 11 percent average of the past 40 years and a smaller share of the economy than at any time since the late 1930s.
  • The federal government’s net interest payments would grow to 5 percent of GDP, compared with an average of 2 percent over the past 40 years, mainly because federal debt would be much larger.”

From Newsmax September 13, 2013.

“Secret Assad Forces Hiding Chemical Weapons”

“A secretive Syrian military unit has been moving stocks of poison gases and munitions to as many as 50 sites to make them harder for the U.S. to track, American and Middle Eastern officials said on Thursday.

The movements of chemical weapons by Syria’s elite Unit 450 could complicate any U.S. bombing campaign in Syria over its chemical attacks, the officials told The Wall Street Journal .

Further, the activity raises questions about the implementation of a Russian proposal that calls for the regime to surrender control of its stockpiles, they said.

The U.S. estimates Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime has 1,000 metric tons of chemical and biological agents.

“That is what we know about,” a senior U.S. official told the Journal. “There might be more.”

U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies said they still believe they know where most of the chemical weapons are located, but with less confidence than six months ago.”

“A division of the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center, Unit 450 manages the regime’s overall chemicals weapons program, according to the Journal. It has been moving the stocks around for months, officials and lawmakers briefed on the intelligence said.

Movements occurred as recently as last week, the officials told the Journal, after President Barack Obama said he was preparing to launch strikes.

The unit is in charge of mixing and deploying chemical munitions, and it provides security at chemical sites, according to U.S. and European intelligence agencies. It consists of officers from Assad’s Alawite sect.

One diplomat briefed on the unit told the Journal that it was Alawite from “janitor to commander.”

Meanwhile, U.S. military officials have investigated whether to gain influence over members of Unit 450 via inducements or threats.

“In a perfect world, you would actually like to co-opt that unit,” a senior U.S. military official told the Journal. “Who cares who pays them, as long as they sit on the chemical weapons?””
