“Illinois’ credit rating downgraded; state drops to worst in the nation”

“A warning came Saturday morning from state treasurer Dan Rutherford (R) IL State Treasurer. The Standard and Poor’s downgrade from A to A-minus puts Illinois last on the list– and means a higher cost to borrow money.

On Wednesday, the state will issue $500 million in new bonds to pay for roads and other transportation projects. Rutherford says the credit downgrade will cost taxpayers an additional $95 million in interest,
When compared to a perfect triple-a bond rating enjoyed by other11 states including neighboring Indiana, Iowa and Missouri.

“Our problem in Illinois is that we have not substantively and fairly addressed the state public pension issue.”

Rutherford points to Governor Quinn and the democratically controlled general assembly for making matters worse in the last two years– raising taxes but not acting on pension reform.

“This problem didn’t come along just now it’s been accumulating for actually decades. Each time the governor set a deadline and didn’t meet it there was some negative reaction,” he said.

“It’s become quite evident to me that the general assembly has not registered what these negative impacts are to be enough to cause a change in the public pensions.”

Rutherford says reform should come in the form of new cost of living adjustments and sliding healthcare costs based on pension income, all of which is a hard sell in Springfield– but would put the state back on better financial ground.

“Illinois is a very good place and we can turn this place around– but the first thing we need to do is fix this in a fair way, our public pensions.””

What do Obama and John Glennon have in common aside from associations with Stuart Levine and other Chicago corruption figures?

Involvement with the IL TRS, Teachers Retirement System.

What else do they have in common?

They were both involved with the TRS in 2002 and 2003.

What is significant about these years?

2003: “Of the five funds, the one in the sorriest shape is the Illinois Teacher Retirement System, which provides the pensions for suburban and downstate teachers. Its ratio of assets to liabilities stood at a mere 52 percent last year, so poor that it was considered among the five worst-funded plans in the country.”

In 2002, the year after Obama made the pitch, the Illinois Teacher Retirement System reported an 18% increase in assets managed by minority-owned firms. Ariel’s share grew to $442 million by 2005.

In 2006, after the federal investigation became public, the teacher pension board severed its relationship with Ariel, concluding that Ariel’s investment returns were insufficient.

Prosecutors have identified two $10,000 payments that were made to Obama’s US Senate campaign through straw donors Joseph Aramanda and Elie Maloof, which originated from a kickback paid by investment firm, Glencoe Capital, to secure approval for a $50 million deal.
Aramanda and Maloof also each gave Obama $1,000 for his failed run for Congress in 2000. Once Obama became a US Senator, Aramanda’s son was granted a coveted intern position in Obama’s Senate office in Washington during the summer of 2005, based on a request which the Obama’s camp has admitted came from Rezko.”

“If you listen to Democrats, and even some Republicans, for the federal government to balance its budget would require draconian cuts that would decimate the Defense Department and put major social welfare programs in bankruptcy. But the truth is that the federal government will take in $2.9 trillion in revenue this fiscal year. If the federal government would simply reduce spending to what it was a mere five years ago it would have a surplus instead of a trillion dollar deficit.

In 2007 the federal government spent $2.7 trillion. That was during the presidency of George Walker Bush and the budget deficit was about $200 billion, because the revenue that year was $2.56 trillion.

What Congress and President Obama have managed to do since then is increase spending astronomically. The projected spending for 2013 is $3.8 trillion. So even though revenue has increased to $2.9 trillion the deficit is still right around a trillion dollars.

It is an unbelievable increase in spending. The problem is not, as Obama continues to say, that the rich aren’t paying their fair share. The problem is that Obama and Congress have increased spending by 40 percent in the past five years. This is during a period of almost no inflation.

Since 2007 the federal government has increased its spending by $1.1 trillion. It is an incredible amount of money and it would be nice to blame it all on Obama, but Obama is a co-conspirator. Spending bills have to originate in the House, which the Republicans have controlled since 2011. Obama in his first term had pretty much free rein in Congress. The Democrats controlled the House and for almost a year had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Spending skyrocketed and in Obama’s first year in office, 2009, the budget deficit increased to $1.4 trillion.

What could only be done in Washington – where reality left the building decades ago – is that the budget deficit has remained over $1 trillion. The reason for the budget deficit in 2009 was the $1 trillion stimulus plan that Congress passed and Obama signed as soon as possible. That was supposed to spike up the spending, but then it was supposed to come back down.

It never has.

But the country ran pretty well in 2007. We were fighting the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, Social Security was being paid, as were Medicare and Medicaid. The federal government was throwing money at local governments, as it does, but evidently to go back to those years would be a tremendous hardship. It’s hard to believe.”

I am not praising Republicans.

Many of the actions and policies of Obama liberal Democrats can be simply explained.

The end justifies the means.

They lack reason and accountability.

Yesterday I was informed of the following letter to the editors of the Greensboro Daily News. The author, an older gentleman, is someone that I know. He represents the old guard, those who follow the Democrat Party come what may, and blame Republicans for all that is wrong. Lack of reason and accountability.

“Regarding “Obama warns GOP in debt ceiling battle” (news article, Jan. 15) and “Mr. Friendly Obama unveils tough talk” by Dana Milbank (column, Jan. 16):

So, President Barack Obama “warned” the GOP in his recent White House news conference. Applause!

From now on, I hope he will continue to brand Republicans in a way, and to a depth, that FDR did in 1932!

We already know that congressional Republicans cannot win the debt ceiling “battle,” and the only question now is, “how badly will they lose the fight?” The answer is, “How much they will be perceived as harming the American people.”

We also know that congressional Republicans seem determined to harm Americans by turning our nation into a Third World country where the majority of people live in poverty, are poorly educated (if at all), are without quality health care, without Social Security and without taxes — of course! — but with a massive military to protect the wealth of the powerful “2 percenters.” No doubt about it.

Yes, Mr. Milbank, “friendly Obama” recently spoke like Lincoln or TR, or FDR or Truman, or LBJ when he delivered the free, “tough and friendly advice” to the GOP. Again, applause!”

The last time that Republicans controlled the White House and Congress was December 2008.

The Labor Force Participation Rate in December 2008 was 65.8 %.

The Labor Force Participation Rate in December 2012 was 63.6 %.

Add that 2.2% drop in the labor force participation to the unemployment rate!

In 2009 when Obama took office, 31.9 million Americans used Food Stamps.

The latest numbers from the USDA reveal that over 47 million Americans now use Food Stamps.

These economic failures from the Democrats have come with record spending and increased taxes for lower income Americans.

It is no wonder why Obama and so many on the left are anti religion.

Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind recently released poll results that were reported by Politico. Politico’s biased reporting was addressed at Citizen Wells yesterday.

The Public Mind poll result reporting and some of the methodologies will be addressed below.

“CONSPIRACY THEORIES PROSPER”

“Sixty-three percent of registered voters in the U.S. buy into at least one political conspiracy theory, according to results from a recent Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind Poll. The nationwide survey of registered voters asked Americans to evaluate four different political conspiracy theories: 56 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of Republicans say that at
least one is likely true. This includes 36 percent who think that President Obama is hiding information about his background and early life, 25 percent who think that the government knew about 9/11 in advance, and 19 percent who think the 2012 Presidential election was stolen. Generally, the more people know about current events, the less likely they are to believe in conspiracy theories – but not among Republicans, where more knowledge leads to greater belief
in political conspiracies.

The most popular of these conspiracy theories is the belief that President Obama is hiding important information about his background and early life, which would include what’s often referred to “birtherism.” Thirty-six percent of Americans think this is probably true, including 64 percent of Republicans and 14 percent of Democrats.

“This conspiracy theory is much more widely believed mostly because it’s been
discussed so often,” said Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson University and an analyst for the poll. “People tend to believe that where there’s smoke, there’s fire – so the more smoke they see, the more likely they are to believe that something is going on.””

“In general, higher levels of actual knowledge about politics tends to reduce belief in conspiracy theories. In the poll, respondents were asked a series of four questions about current events, and respondents who were able to answer more questions correctly were less likely to endorse the conspiracy theories. Fifteen percent of people who got none of the questions right thought that three or four of the conspiracies were likely, compared to three percent of those who answered three or four correctly. Education also tended to reduce belief in the conspiracy theories.

However, the relationship between current events knowledge and belief in conspiracy theories is conditional on partisanship. Among Democrats, each question answered correctly reduces the likelihood of endorsing at least one of the conspiracy theories by seven points. Among independents, each additional question reduces it by two points. For Republicans, though, each additional question answered correctly tends to increase belief in at least one of the
theories by two points.

“There are several possible explanations for this,” said Cassino. “It could be that more conspiracy-minded Republicans seek out more information, or that the information some Republicans seek out just tends to reinforce these myths.””

This is no conspiracy theory. It is a well documented fact. Beginning in 2007 when Obama was interviewed while campaigning, Obama refused to supply records while he was in the IL Senate and consistently gave vague and evasive responses.

Beginning in 2008 and continuing to today, Obama has used a long list of private  attorneys such as Robert Bauer and numerous US Justice Dept. attorneys, at taxpayer expense, to avoid presenting legitimate birth, college, student loan and other records. For anyone not paying attention (living under a rock) during that period of time, Donald Trump, several months ago, offered Obama $ 5 million to release his college records. Obama refused to comply.

Conclusion: Obama hiding records?

Fact

Professor Dan Cassino stated:

“People tend to believe that where there’s smoke, there’s
fire – so the more smoke they see, the more likely they are to believe that something is going on.”

That is correct.

“Generally, the more people know about current events, the less likely they are to believe in conspiracy theories – but not among Republicans, where more knowledge leads to greater belief in political conspiracies.”

More knowledge by Republicans, and I would add, more respect for the US Constitution, makes them aware of Obama hiding his records.

Bias apparent.

The questions asked were very poorly presented in the documentation. There are 2 questions that relate to unemployment:

“As far as you know, has unemployment increased, decreased, or stayed the same over the past twelve months?”

“Is unemployment higher, lower, or the same as it was when President Obama first took office in 2009?”

Instead of clarifying what they are referring to such as “stated unemployment rate” or “US Labor Dept. unemployment rate” they just state unemployment. The truly informed will pause, perhaps ask for clarification, and if none is given may answer it is difficult to ascertain. So many have dropped out of the labor force, i.e. the Labor Force Participation Rate has fallen so much that the number unemployed has stayed the same or possibly risen.

This poll and polling analysis is clearly biased and sloppy. Can these people be this uninformed or does political idealogy cloud their methodologies?

Pat McCrory, the new Republican Governor of NC is a likeable guy. He inherited a huge mess from former Democrat Governor Beverly Perdue, Barack Obama and the Democrats.

McCrory was raised within approx. 15 miles of where I was raised. Though he is younger than I, he must have been surrounded, as I was, by good people who had some damn sense.

Pat McCrory, what the hell were you thinking?

Perceptions matter.

Despite the fact that you inherited this mess, you just gave high pay raises to staff members surrounding you while average North Carolinians are still suffering.

You made a mistake.

Admit it.

“If you saw our new governor live or on television banging away on a drum set with a band at Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre last week, you already know Ringo has nothing to worry about.

For further evidence that the governor is tone deaf, all you had to do was read the newspaper the next day and see that Gov. Pat, henceforth known as Gov. Pay Raise, McCrory bestowed sizable raises on the people closest to him while sprinkling a pittance upon those outside his inner circle – you know, the ones who do the actual work.

Six-figure-earning Cabinet secretaries in his administration received raises ranging from 5 to 11 percent right off the bat. Tony Tata and Kieran Shanahan, directors of transportation and public safety, respectively, got bumped from $121,807 to $135,000.

Nice work if you can get it, and you can get it, apparently, if you’re close enough to reach out and touch the hem of the governor’s garment.

Regular ol’ state workers got raises, too – their first in four years. Surely Gov. McCrory cut them a nice slice of that state cheddar, one commensurate with their worth, right?

Nope. They received raises – if you can call them that – of 1.2 percent. If the average teacher’s salary in North Carolina is $46,605, that means his or her salary went up $559.26.

Hmm. One hundred years ago, that would’ve been enough to keep ’em rolling in fatback, flour and sorghum from the General Store to see them through spring. Now, though, $559.26 might feed a family of four for a month – as long as two of them don’t eat.

Do you remember that campaign talk from Gov. McCrory about how we’ve all got to learn to tighten our belts and live within our means?

Nevermind. He apparently wasn’t talking about the high-up muckety mucks. “I’m trying to make it at least where they can afford to live while running multi-billion-dollar departments,” he said in an earlier interview with The N&O.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have much confidence in the management skills or fiscal acumen of any Cabinet secretary who can’t live off $121,000 a year but who can live off $135,000.

The governor and his supporters will no doubt stress that these selfless public servants – tee hee – could make more money in the private sector. Perhaps some could, although others – judging by recent work histories – would be lucky to find a job wearing a paper hat and nametag and asking “Paper or plastic?””

The fruits of corrupt Democrat Government in NC being replaced are already evident. Former Governor, Beverly Perdue, a Obama puppet, vetoed a voter ID Bill. New Governor, Pat McCrory, is already requesting that a North Carolina voter identification bill be placed on his desk.

“Gov. Pat McCrory said Wednesday he wants a North Carolina voter identification bill on his desk but now sounds willing to accept a bill that doesn’t demand photo ID to cast ballots in person.

McCrory said he’s open to other required identification such as voter registration cards but would let the General Assembly develop legislation. He’d be asked to sign any bill into law.

“I still would like (a) photo on it but I’d also be willing to accept other options,” McCrory told reporters while visiting the Legislative Building for the opening of the General Assembly session. The News & Record of Greensboro reported similar comments from McCrory when he visited Greensboro on Tuesday.

McCrory said Wednesday he still expects “a voter ID bill to be passed in the very near future and I will sign that bill.”

McCrory’s comments contrast with his past vocal backing of a photo ID requirement, particularly a 2011 Republican bill that was vetoed by Gov. Beverly Perdue. He criticized Perdue for the veto at the time and asked his supporters to create videos about places where they already must show photo ID.

House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, said later Wednesday a bill may be afoot this year requiring people without a form of ID to cast provisional ballots. The Legislature will return to work at the end of the month after Wednesday’s one-day session.

Supporters of photo identification in voting argue it would reduce the potential for voter fraud and will build public confidence in elections. But legislative Democrats and civil rights groups contend voter ID isn’t needed because fraud is very rare and ID requirements will discourage voting by older adults and the poor who lack photo identification.”

When Barack Obama launched into his keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, he was still an obscure state senator from Illinois. By the
time he finished 17 minutes later, he had captured the nation’s attention and opened the way for a run at the presidency. A behind-the-scenes look at the
politicking, plotting, and preparation that went into Obama’s breakthrough moment”
“A star is born: Obama soaks up the cheers moments after finishing his keynote address. “His public image changed because of that speech,” says Illinois
senator Dick Durbin.

On Saturday, June 26, 2004, Barack Obama sat in a recording studio in Chicago to give his party’s response to President Bush’s weekly radio address. The
speech offered the new Democratic Senate candidate from Illinois one of his first big moments on the national stage. In his remarks-written entirely by his
longtime media adviser, David Axelrod, and by his chief press aide, Robert Gibbs-Obama criticized Bush on a litany of economic issues, from rising health-
care costs and unfair tax policies to job outsourcing. The eloquent and well-argued talk hit all the right Democratic buttons. And the radio waves showcased
Obama’s trademark baritone-deep in pitch, authoritative and reassuring in tone.

But Obama thought the address came off flat. Something was missing. “It was good, but it was nothing awe inspiring,” recalls Gibbs. “It was kind of obvious
that he was recording the words of somebody else.”
So it was not exactly a surprise when, one week later-after John Kerry’s campaign manager, Mary Beth Cahill, called Obama and told him that he had been
picked to deliver the Democratic National Convention’s keynote address-Obama gave his aides a firm directive: he would write the speech himself. “One thing
that he was very clear about telling us,” says Gibbs, “-and I think it was largely out of that experience of the weekly radio address-was he wanted to write
this speech and write it in a way that was personal.””

“The keynote speech that Barack Obama delivered on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, galvanized the delegates who packed Boston’s FleetCenter and electrified a
nationwide television audience. The 2,297 words uttered over 17 minutes changed Obama’s profile overnight and made him a household name. Before the speech,
the idea of Obama running for president in 2008 would have been laughable; he was a lowly state senator from Chicago’s Hyde Park, and while he stood a good
chance at winning his U.S. Senate race, he would enter that powerful body ranked 99th out of 100 in seniority. After the speech, observers from across the
political world hailed the address as an instant classic, and Obama was drawing comparisons (deservedly or not) to Martin Luther King Jr. and John F.
Kennedy.

None of this happened by chance. Obama’s selection as keynote speaker was carefully plotted by all sides for maximum effect, and the speech itself was no
outpouring of inspiration scribbled on the back of an envelope. Obama labored over it for weeks, harvesting lines that he had already tested on Illinois
crowds. He is said to have been furious when one of his best remarks was cut by Kerry’s speechwriters. And even after all the preparation, the editing and
vetting by aides to Obama and Kerry, and the three run-throughs at the convention, the speech almost didn’t take flight-on the dais, Obama was slow to hit
his stride. But once he got going, the speech-and his career-took off: “Without that Boston speech, there’s a question whether Barack would be running [for
president] today,” says his fellow senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin. “His public image changed because of that speech.” Valerie Jarrett, a veteran Chicago
politico and one of Obama’s longtime friends, puts it more succinctly: “It changed his life.””

“Who the Heck Is This Guy?” Obama admitted in interviews at the time that he was “totally surprised” by the speaking invitation. (Through his spokesman, he
declined to be interviewed for this story.) As he put it in his book The Audacity of Hope: “The process by which I was selected as the keynote speaker
remains something of a mystery to me.”

record of any sanctions or reprimand by the US Congress of Senator
Obama’s passport violation or campaigning on foreign soil against a US

“Two Motions were filed on October 18, 2012 with the first being Alabama’s Democratic Party Motion to Intervene (MTI). Make special note of Item 5 in the Motion—The Alabama Secretary of State does not object to this motion to intervene. (See link to Motion to Intervene below)

The Alabama Democratic Committee MTI argues their nominee, Mr. Obama, is “eligible, qualified and entitled” to gain access to the taxpayer supported Alabama ballot and that Alabama’s Secretary of State “does not have a duty to independently investigate the qualifications of candidates nominated by the political parties.” Their motion wouldn’t be complete without the usual “pontification on high” that their candidate’s questionable natural born citizenship status is based on “discredited conspiracy theories and outlandish claims of fraudulent and forged birth certificates.”

Attorney General Strange filed the second motion which was a Motion to Dismiss (MTD). Strange offers the following arguments:

The Secretary of State has no legal duty to investigate the qualifications of a candidate;
In regard to candidates for President, the authority to adjudge qualifications rests with Congress;
Plaintiffs have failed to join necessary parties; and
Plaintiffs’ claim is filed too late.
According to Strange the Secretary of State aka the Chief Election Officer for the state of Alabama holds no responsibility whatsoever to ensure any and/or all presidential candidates working to gain access to Alabama’s electorate meet the necessary constitutional qualifications to be on their state ballot. (See link to Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss below)

Plaintiffs’ responded to Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss on October 24, 2012 by reiterating their Motion for Summary Judgment filed on or about October 15, 2012 “in which Plaintiffs submitted sworn affidavits that set forth evidence demonstrating that Barack H. Obama is not eligible to serve as President of the United States.” These sworn affidavits are from Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, Maricopa County, Arizona and Lead Investigator Mike Zullo, Maricopa County’s Cold Case Posse unit (see link Response to Motion to Dismiss below).

Plaintiff argues that it is clearly the legal duty of Alabama’s Chief Election Officer to “verify the eligibility of those seeking office” and when eligibility of a candidate comes into question it is their responsibility to verify and remove said party from the ballot if necessary. A recent Opinion by Alabama’s Attorney General cited by the plaintiff states –

“The Secretary of state does not have an obligation to evaluate all of the Qualifications of the nominees of political parties and independent candidates for state offices prior to certifying such nominees and candidates to the probate judges pursuant to sections1 7-7-l and l7-16-40 of the Code of Alabama. If the Secretary of State has knowledge gained from an official source arising from the performance of duties prescribed by law, that a candidate has not met a certifying qualification [such as a candidate’s failure to file a public statement of Economic Interest], the Secretary of State should not certify the candidate.”

Clearly the sworn affidavits from Arpaio and Zullo serve as an “official source” placing into doubt at least the certifying qualifications necessary for Mr. Obama to gain access to the Alabama general election ballot. As for the remaining presidential candidates, no such “official source” has presented itself challenging their certifying qualifications.

The Plaintiff’s conclude “It is time — finally — to ensure that the person we are entrusting the highest and most powerful office of our country is eligible to serve for that office. The issue of eligibility has become a political hot potato, in effect a sticky matter for judges and courts around the nation. But the rule of law must eventually govern, without regard to politics, and cannot and should not be sidestepped through legally convenient and politically correct court rulings which ignore the plain language of the U.S. Constitution.””

Will newly elected AL Chief Justice Roy Moore review this case?

“According to Strange the Secretary of State aka the Chief Election Officer for the state of Alabama holds no responsibility whatsoever to ensure any and/or all presidential candidates working to gain access to Alabama’s electorate meet the necessary constitutional qualifications to be on their state ballot.”

“Section 17-13-6

Only qualified candidates to be listed on ballots.
The name of no candidate shall be printed upon any official ballot used at any primary election unless such person is legally qualified to hold the office for which he or she is a candidate and unless he or she is eligible to vote in the primary election in which he or she seeks to be a candidate and possesses the political qualifications prescribed by the governing body of his or her political party.”

Legally qualified means as defined by the US Constitution, US election code and Alabama election statutes.

The Alabama Democrat Party made this certification on January 18, 2012.

Pursuant to Section 17-13-5, Code of Alabama, 1975, I hereby certify that the persons whose names appear below and on the following schedules filed qualifications with me for the March 13, 2012 Democratic Primary Election as candidates for the offices indicated.
