Rezko lousy witness?, Rezko bad for Blagojevich and Obama, Judge Zagel

From the Chicago Tribune June 29, 2010.

“Judge: There’s a word for witnesses like Rezko”

“One big question hanging over the trial of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been whether his convicted fundraiser, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, would appear at these proceedings to testify against his old friend. Rezko, now imprisoned at a federal facility in Wisconsin, has been cooperating with government agents since shortly after his 2008 conviction.
It’s still not certain whether Rezko will testify, but at a hearing before testimony resumed today, U.S. District Judge James Zagel strongly suggested that Rezko would make a lousy government witness.

Zagel said there was a word to describe witnesses like Rezko who damage whatever side calls them to testify. That, said Zagel, “generally explains why they’re not called.”  Zagel refrained from actually saying what the word was, leaving the suggestion it was less than polite.”

“Schar said that Rezko has since recanted the letter and provided “a certain amount of information that incriminates Blagojevich.”

All of this talk occurred outside the earshot of jurors, but defense lawyers would like the jury to hear about the Rezko letter. Zagel said he would wait until after Balanoff takes the stand to rule whether the letter can be brought up. ”

OT, brought over from previous thread.

Today is the day the third circuit court of appeals is to hear Marrio Appuzzo’s case against Obama and congress. There will be no oral argument case to be decided by briefs. We’ll see if the constitution still matters.

  3. I got this from another site as a question. The leagal minds on this site please chime in. I would be interested in you thoughts. Thank You

At her confirmation hearings, under oath, Sonia Sotomayor told Congress that she believed that the second amendment affirmed an individual right. Yesterday, McDonald v. Chicago was announced, and she signed her name to an opnion saying that the second amendment did NOT affirm an individual right. She committed perjury, or do we call it something else now?

She committed perjury, or do we call it something else now?

    Excellent question.

Does anyone besides me think it would be nice to have one person from the constitution party in the senate that might actually seek answers to questions like this?

We call it being a liberal…say what everyone wants to hear until you get your position, then do whatever you want.

Lies and deception is what they do best:

As Elena Kagan attempts to sail through a confirmation process to take her first job as a judge on the nation’s highest court, National Review’s Shannen Coffin discovers one of the reasons why the Clinton Library seemed determined to keep records of her previous work quiet. The issue of partial-birth abortion had raged during the Clinton years, with the President ultimately vetoing a measure by Congress to ban the procedure, but Nebraska banned it on their own. In order to defeat that law, Kagan manipulated a report by a panel from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to fool the Supreme Court into thinking that doctors had supported the idea that it was a medically necessary procedure, when in fact ACOG couldn’t specify a single set of circumstances where it would save the life of the mothe

This is the case the families have been pressing for against the Saudi government and several Saudi princes for their extensive funding of al Qaeda.

    “manipulated a report ”
to me manipulating a report is fraud (lying), wasn’t Bernie Madoff the master of manipulating reports, and look what happened there, also begs the question what other reports, data, evidence, may have been manipulated. An honest person would not do this.

  11. Here is a answer one of the guys gave to ad to the discussion. By the way this is a 4×4 web site in Chit Chat forum I’m getting this from.LOL We rednecks are not all that dumb..Wait my beer is empty. By the way I am from N. California not all of us are loons.

I’m as pro-gun as anyone here. In fact, maybe more so than many on this site. However, to say she lied is misrepresenting her stance.

The case yesterday was basically if the COTUS applied to states. The court ruled it did. She has a history of saying the 2nd does not apply to states:

The questions asked at he confirmation was if the 2nd applied to individuals as far as the Fed was concerned.

“It is settled law, however, that the Second Amendment applies only to limitations the federal government seeks to impose on this right,”

So, it wasn’t a lie. She agrees the 2nd applies to the federal government in that the feds cannot limit gun rights. She just doesn’t agree that the 2nd applies to states and that (incorrectly IMO) states can limit gun ownership.

Clear as mud, but it was not a lie. Basically, two different issues to some people

  12. Concerning Kagan:

Senator Jeff Sessions may be the only person willing to read or listen to what has been documented about Kagan. Send any information to him. You can follow the proceedings on Kagan from his website.

He can be contacted through his website

Or, go to liberty action for sending faxes to key senators, or send your own faxes utilizing their letter format.

The Judge doesnt want Rezko on the stand because that would force him to admit the Obama FBI interview. This case would blow up.
I bet Obama lied to or mislead the FBI.

  18. Bill Cutting….that is a bet you can not lose. It blows my mind how difficult it is for people to tell the truth. I was raised to tell the truth. I find it easy, no confusion. Stay safe, God Bless.

  21. Most in Media Ignore Blago Characterizing Obama: ‘More Tony’d Up Than I Am’
    By Mike Bates | Wed, 06/30/2010 – 19:32

Whatever the reason, most of the mainstream media failed to report something intriguing said by the usually most quotable former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. From an FBI tape recorded last November and appearing on Fox Chicago News’s Web site, Blagojevich spoke of president-elect Barack Obama:

BLAGOJEVICH I thin-, you know, it’s really, I get that I’m a big boy and I can handle that, but it’s really f***ing galling, this guy is more Tony’d up than I am. And it’s almost like they f***ing conspi-, made a concerted effort and they got the Chicago media to f***ing make me wear Rezko more. To f***ing dilute it from him.
