“Over the last six months, of the net job creation, 97 percent of that is part-time work,”…Keith Hall, former BLS chief

“Nearly half of U.S. companies are reluctant to hire full-time employees because of the ACA. One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.

Other firms will shift toward part-time workers. More than 40 percent of CFOs say their companies will consider switching some jobs to less than 30 hours per week or targeting part-time workers for future employment.”…Duke University Fuqua School of Business December 11, 2013

Are Americans stupid enough to believe the reports coming from the US Labor Dept., the White House and the mainstream media.

Initial Claims for October 16, 2014 are the lowest since April 2000?

If you do you had better look closer.

The employment to population ratio has dropped 5.4 percent since April 2000.

If you lose enough workers and even more full time workers you are going to be less likely to have layoffs.

I.E. you have already pared the work force to the bone.

Don’t take my word for this, look it up.

Oh, and by the way, there are 23,317,000 more people not in the labor force than in April 2000.

“It’s easy to look back and realize what a jerk Hitler was. But at the time, Hitler looked pretty good to the German people, with the help of the media. He was TIME Magazine’s Man Of The Year in 1938. The German people assumed they were safe from a tyrant. They lived in a Republic, after all, with strict laws regarding what the government could and more importantly could not do. Their leader was a devoutly religious man, and had even sung with the boy’s choir of a monastery in his youth.”…whatreallyhappened.com

Forget the irresponsible actions of Barack Obama for a moment and the subsequent threats of Ebola and ISIS to this country.

We have an epidemic of Enterovirus D68 in this country and it is killing, crippling and making our children extremely ill.

We know for a fact that D68 was rare in this country prior to this year.

We know for a fact that Enterovirus D68 was found in the child population of Central America in 2013.

We know for a fact that there is no vaccine.

And we know for a fact that Obama was warned about not screening the illegal immigrant children for disease.

We also know for a fact that Obama requested help from governors  in dispersing these children all over the country.

We know for a fact that the children were dispersed all over the US.

Some areas of the country protested.

This is not your father’s Democrat Party.

Many people have supported Obama because of his skin color, white liberal guilt or just because of the modern day left agenda.

This is no different than supporting Adolf Hitler in the 1930’s because of his rhetoric about a greater Germany.

The Greensboro News Record presented one of the most irresponsible and apparently party line editorials that I have ever read recently.

“The United Nations counts 641,000 refugees living in Jordan and 609,000 in Turkey, thanks to Middle East conflicts.

Kenya hosts 534,000 refugees. Chad has 434,000 and Ethiopia 433,000. These are poor African nations.

In North Carolina, leaders in two counties have passed resolutions saying they don’t want any refugees, not one, from the crisis along the border with Mexico. “This issue is not of Brunswick County’s making, and is much larger than Brunswick County, and Brunswick County does not have the excess resources necessary for relief,” its resolution said. Surry County commissioners adopted a similar statement.

Brunswick and Surry are not among the four North Carolina counties listed by the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement as having received 50 or more young people this year as part of the recent crisis. The four are Mecklenburg, 536; Wake, 188; Durham, 180; and Wayne, 55. The total for North Carolina is 1,648.

Opposition stems from concern that these children may be eligible to enroll in school and receive other government services. But their presence in North Carolina is not only a reality; it is a legal and humanitarian necessity.

They arrived at our border to escape dangers in their native Central American countries. This was not a matter of poor border security; they wanted to be taken into U.S. custody. Under a 2008 law, they are entitled to legal due process — an evaluation to determine whether they qualify for asylum. This takes months, if not years. In the meantime, many are settled with family members or other sponsors in every state.

Should they be crowded into concentration camps on the border, or should communities across the country share in the responsibility of caring for them? Any county can declare it had no role in creating the problem, but it’s an American problem. It belongs to all Americans.”

“So, perhaps we can emulate many poorer countries and share a little space with people who have nowhere else to go.”

Ever heard of Ellis Island?

Many of our ancestors were screened for health issues there.

Some were rejected.

Why? Because people had more damned sense then and we had real leadership.

Instead of blindly following the agenda of Obama et al, the News Record owes their readers an apology.

This is another example of irresponsible party ideology.

And it needs to stop.

If you are making investment decisions based on what you are reading in the mainstream media, you had better read the following.

The normal pro Obama media has outdone itself.

Why?

It is an election year and Obama is in trouble.

The recent stated unemployment rate of 5.9 percent was compared as the best since 2008.

What they did not tell you is the following reported at Citizen Wells on October 3, 2014.

“There were 315,000 more people not in the labor force in September. That is far more than the 248,000 jobs that were added.

The labor force participation rate at 62.7 percent is 3 percent higher than when Obama took office.

They are comparing the current unemployment rate to 2008. The rate was 5.8 percent in July 2008. However, the participation rate then was 66.1 percent.

That is 3.4 percent higher than today.

You do the math!

Also, there were 45,000 more people in September , not in the labor force who want a jobs now.

And don’t forget this from the Labor Dept.

“The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) was little changed in September at 7.1 million. These individuals, who would have preferred full-time employment, were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job.”

https://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2014/10/03/september-unemployment-rate-lowest-since-2008-248k-jobs-added-truth-is-more-people-dropped-out-of-labor-force-than-jobs-added-participation-rate-down-3-percent-since-jan-2009-excessive-part-time/

That is bad enough.

But it gets worse.

Straight from the US Labor Dept.

The unemployment rate for blacks is 11 percent. It was 10 percent in July 2008.

The lowest labor force participation rate during the 8 years of George Bush was 65.8 percent.

It is currently 62.7 percent with this great Obama economy.

The highest number of people unemployed over 27 weeks during the 8 years of George Bush was 2,610,000.

The highest number under Obama was 6,770,000. It is currently 2,954,000 and would be higher if so many people had not dropped out of the labor force.

When Obama took office in January 2009 there were 5,708,000 million people not in the labor force who want a job now. There are currently 6,349,000 people in that category.

There are 12 million more people not in the labor force than when Obama took office in 2009.

From the Greensboro News Record October 3, 2014.

“For example, there were 7.1 million people working part-time jobs last month even though they would prefer full-time work. That figure is up from just 4.6 million before the recession.

And there are 3 million people who have been out of work for more than six months. That figure has declined steadily in the past three years but is still more than double its precession total.”

Janet Yellen has been raising concerns about the validity of the jobs data for months.

From Market Watch October 1, 2014.

“Starting next week, a new indicator may roil the markets

The Federal Reserve will publish a new monthly gauge of the health of the labor market, called the labor market conditions index, beginning next Monday, the central bank announced Wednesday.

The report is an attempt to dig deeper into labor market trends beyond the standard monthly unemployment rate measure.

Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen and her allies have argued that the improvement in the unemployment rate over the past year has overstated the strength of the labor market. How much slack remains in the economy is a key factor in how patient the central bank can be before lifting off short-term interest rates from zero.”

From “1984” by George Orwell.

“But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty’s figures, it was not even forgery. It was merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another. Most of the material that you were dealing with had no connexion with anything in the real world, not even the kind of connexion that is contained in a direct lie. Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. A great deal of the time you were expected to make them up out of your head. For example, the Ministry of Plenty’s forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at one-hundred-and-forty-five million pairs. The actual output was given as sixty-two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty-seven millions, so as to allow for the usual claim that the quota had been overfulfilled. In any case, sixty-two millions was no nearer the truth than fifty-seven millions, or than one-hundred-and-forty-five millions. Very likely no boots had been produced at all. Likelier still, nobody knew how many had been produced, much less cared. All one knew was that every quarter astronomical numbers of boots were produced on paper, while perhaps half the population of Oceania went barefoot. And so it was with every class of recorded fact, great or small. Everything faded away into a shadow-world in which, finally, even the date of the year had become uncertain.”

Thursday, July 3, 2014 was another day of Orwellian employment data reporting, straight out of “1984.”

The US Labor Dept. reported 288,000 new jobs in June.

The media and financial markets went wild.

From “1984” by George Orwell.

“But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty’s figures, it was not even forgery. It was merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another. We know that for years now many of the jobs that were added were part time jobs. They count as full time jobs in the Labor Dept. stats.

From the Atlanta Journal Constitution August 5, 2013.

“Welcome to the Obamcare economy. From McClatchy:

“The July government employment report released Friday showed the job market treading water.”And a closer look at one of the two measures the Labor Department uses to gauge employment suggests that part-time work accounted for almost all the job growth that’s been reported over the past six months. …” ‘Over the last six months, of the net job creation, 97 percent of that is part-time work,’ said Keith Hall, a senior researcher at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. ‘That is really remarkable.’”Hall is no ordinary academic. He ran the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the agency that puts out the monthly jobs report, from 2008 to 2012. Over the past six months, he said, the Household Survey shows 963,000 more people reporting that they were employed, and 936,000 of them reported they’re in part-time jobs.” ‘That is a really high number for a six-month period,’ Hall said. ‘I’m not sure that has ever happened over six months before.’ “”
From the Duke University Fuqua School of Business December 11, 2013.

“Nearly half of U.S. companies are reluctant to hire full-time employees because of the ACA. One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.

Other firms will shift toward part-time workers. More than 40 percent of CFOs say their companies will consider switching some jobs to less than 30 hours per week or targeting part-time workers for future employment.”
An example from the media.

From Rex Nutting at Mark Watch July 3, 2014.

“The payrolls report is right, and GDP isn’t”

“No, the economy really did not tank in the first half of the year.

You could be excused for thinking it did. After all, gross domestic product plunged at a 2.9% annualized rate in the first three months of the year, according to the government’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Which means that, even if GDP rebounds at a 3.2% rate in the second quarter, as expected, the level of real GDP at the end of June would be scarcely higher than it was in December.

Two quarters of essentially no growth sounds a lot like a recession. Should we be worried?

Not at all. Almost certainly we are not in a recession, nor are we heading into one soon. How do we know? Because all of the other economic data we have — and we have a lot of data from a lot of different sources — disagrees with the GDP report.”

“Payrolls are rising at a 1.9% pace so far this year”

Hey Rex, how about looking at the GDP and the real payroll numbers.

For example, 111,000 more people in June could only find part time work.

Remember, many people are working multiple part time jobs to make ends meet. Each one of those part time jobs could be counted as a job added.
The same day Market Watch provided the following information with less fanfare.

“Part-time work jumps in June by nearly 800,000”

PartTimeJune2014

“One interesting nugget in the June jobs report was the rise in the number of people who worked part-time.

While it’s a number that flops around from month to month — the standard deviation is 287,000 —  it jumped by 799,000, which was the largest one-month gain since January 1994. At the same time, there was a 523,000-person drop in full-time workers, the first decline since October.”

A voice of reason from Zero Hedge July 4, 2014.
“There is a growing gap between the financial markets and the real economy.

Six years ago, many investors were way out over their skis. Giant financial institutions were brought to their knees…

The survivors pledged to themselves that they would forever be more careful, less greedy, less short-term oriented.

But here we are again, mired in a euphoric environment in which some securities have risen in price beyond all reason, where leverage is returning to rainy markets and asset classes, and where caution seems radical and risk-taking the prudent course. Not surprisingly, lessons learned in 2008 were only learned temporarily. These are the inevitable cycles of greed and fear, of peaks and troughs.

Can we say when it will end? No. Can we say that it will end? Yes. And when it ends and the trend reverses, here is what we can say for sure. Few will be ready. Few will be prepared.”

Clearly the financial markets are salivating with enthusiasm when they should be trembling.

We have a part time job crisis.

And don’t forget:

The labor force participation rate is 2.9 percent lower than when Obama took office.

There are 11,591,000 more people not in the labor force now than when Obama took office.

Feeling euphoric?

The low information and/or biased media has been reporting the following:

“U.S. has finally regained the jobs lost to the Great Recession”

The low information voters and many investors appear to be buying it.

A simple analogy:

A warship is struck by a torpedo.

Believing the ship to be in imminent danger of sinking, the captain orders most of the crew to abandon ship.

They are picked up.

Much to his amazement he discovers that a sand bar is preventing the ship from sinking.

The remaining crew members repair the hole and pump out the water.

The captain reports to the admiral, we have pumped out all of the water. We are ship shape.

Sounds good except that most of the crew is missing, the ship is still stuck and enemy submarines are lurking nearby.

The same with our ship of state.

We have patched the original problem but we are dead in the water.

The employment situation in this country is reaching critical mass.

We have record numbers dropping out of the labor force and record numbers relying on government assistance paid for by the remaining workers. Many of whom are working part time jobs.

Here is one small example of data not being reported by the mainstream media.

In just one month, from April to May, almost 300,000 more people wanted jobs who were not in the labor force.

Damn the torpedoes.

2014 is an election year and the media continues to protect Obama.

Everyone could be unemployed and the mainstream media would portray the jobs situation as rosy.

The following article from the Wall Street Journal is a notable exception.

From the WSJ March 16, 2014.

“The Hidden Rot in the Jobs Numbers”

“Most commentators viewed the February jobs report released on March 7 as good news, indicating that the labor market is on a favorable growth path. A more careful reading shows that employment actually fell—as it has in four out of the past six months and in more than one-third of the months during the past two years.

Although it is often overlooked, a key statistic for understanding the labor market is the length of the average workweek. Small changes in the average workweek imply large changes in total hours worked. The average workweek in the U.S. has fallen to 34.2 hours in February from 34.5 hours in September 2013, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That decline, coupled with mediocre job creation, implies that the total hours of employment have decreased over the period.

Job creation rose from an initial 113,000 in January (later revised to 129,000) to 175,000 in February. The January number frightened many, while the February number was cheered—even though it was below the prior 12-month average of 189,000.

The labor market’s strength and economic activity are better measured by the number of total hours worked than by the number of people employed. An employer who replaces 100 40-hour-per-week workers with 120 20-hour-per-week workers is contracting, not expanding operations. The same is true at the national level.

The total hours worked per week is obtained by multiplying the reported average workweek hours by the number of workers employed. The decline in the average workweek for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls by 3/10ths of an hour—offset partially by the increase in the number of people working—means that real labor usage on net, taking into account hours worked, fell by the equivalent of 100,000 jobs since September.

Here’s a fuller explanation. The job-equivalence number is computed simply by taking the total decline in hours and dividing by the average workweek. For example, if the average worker was employed for 34.4 hours and total hours worked declined by 344 hours, the 344 hours would be the equivalent of losing 10 workers’ worth of labor. Thus, although the U.S. economy added about 900,000 jobs since September, the shortened workweek is equivalent to losing about one million jobs during this same period. The difference between the loss of the equivalent of one million jobs and the gain of 900,000 new jobs yields a net effect of the equivalent of 100,000 lost jobs.”

“Another possibility for the declining average workweek is the Affordable Care Act. That law induces businesses with fewer than 50 full-time employees—full-time defined as 30 hours per week—to keep the number of hours low to avoid having to provide health insurance. The jury is still out on this explanation, but research by Luis Garicano, Claire LeLarge and John Van Reenen (National Bureau of Economic Research, February 2013) has shown that laws that can be evaded by keeping firms small or hours low can have significant effects on employment.”

I would like to add the following bit of data from the BLS.

The number of people who could only find part time work rose 121,000 from January to February 2014.

Did you see or hear that reported anywhere?

And now for NC.

From the Raleigh News Observer March 17, 2014.

“North Carolina’s unemployment rate continued improving in January to near the national average, falling to 6.7 percent, the state Commerce Department reported Monday.”

“”We’ve been in this kind of transitional period for years now. There are times when I say I wish I could have some news that was all good or all bad. If it was all good or all bad, it would be easy to interpret,” said Andrew Brod, a senior researcher at the business school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. “You take the numbers as a whole. They’re not all good or all bad.””

“About 60,000 dropped out of the pool of people either holding jobs or looking for work in the year ending in January, while nearly 106,000 left the unemployed list, the state report said. That indicated around 60 percent of the decline in the unemployment rate was due to people ending their job searches, for whatever reason, rather than landing jobs, Brod said.

“In terms of the flight from the labor force, it’s looking as though last year wasn’t as bad as we previously thought,” Brod said.”

Here are a few interesting numbers from the NC state website.

Labor force participation rate

Jan 2009  64.9%

Jan 2013  62.6%

Jan 2014  61.1%

As you can see, the labor force participation rate plummeted 3.8% since Obama took office in January 2009 and 1.5% in the last year alone.

The number of people employed in NC in January 2013 was 4,310,807.

The number of people employed in NC in January 2014 was 4,356,090.

That is a one year increase of 45, 283 people employed.

Does that match up with the drop in unemployment rate and gain in jobs that you have read about?

No!

Check for yourself.

The Barrister Michael Shrimpton video is not a recent fabrication and is by all indications legitimate.

Here is what we know.

The video was produced circa February 2008. We know this by the context of Shrimpton’s statements.

Barrister Michael Shrimpton provided the same info as stated in the video to Israel Insider in August 2008.

“Reuven Koret, Israel Insider Publisher

In August I received a curious email. As a magazine that covers international politics, with a focus on Mideast affairs, Israel Insider gets more from its fair share of baseless tips and phony rumors. It came from a national security lawyer with extensive credentials and intelligence connections that checked out, and a phone number.”

“It isn’t that much of a story…I’ve been researching the German involvement in the European Union & the New World Order, I was listening to WW2 Codebreaker Dr Harry Beckhough in a playlist…the next video that came on was Shrimpton…who has never let me down yet…so I let it play…all of a sudden, I heard the name Obama mentioned and Kenya…it brought a big smile to my face, and I thought of America straight away…so I cut out the Obama parts, stuck them together and uploaded…I contact Carl Gallups straight away as I knew he was the person who would get this video where it needed to go…as far as I am aware it was from 2008…I got it from MRG – Michael Shrimpton – European Union – Legal & Legitimate? which is dated 2012…I care about the American people, and I want the best for your country…since Obama has come to power ‘watched America go down hill…I’ve watched him lie over and over and over…It all started 5 years ago when I stumbled across Dr Steven Greer…I’ve been on a roller coaster ride since then…Google deleted 5 years worth of research 3 times, I’ve been locked out of Facebook and banned from twitter 7 times…I’ve been gang stalked and had posts changed by sys admins…alot of things…all I wanted to know was if aliens are real and we ended up here”

The video is important for a number of reasons.

First, Barrister Michael Shrimpton  has the credentials and apparent access to privileged and classified information.

Second, Shrimpton’s statements were made matter of factly prior to Obama securing the Democrat nomination.

We knew that the Clintons found out about Obama’s eligibility deficiencies by early 2008. Bettina Viviano has spoken of this. Shrimpton states that he informed them.

Most of the information about Obama prior to and going into 2008 indicated that he was  born in Kenya. This is further corroboration.

Next step?

Barrister Michael Shrimpton should be subpoenaed by Congress and perhaps the Alabama Supreme court which still has before it the Obama eligibility appeal.

If the statements of Shrimpton are validated. Barack Hussein Obama should be arrested.

“the Times of the ninteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones.”…George Orwell, “1984″

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

I read the financial reports every morning and shake my head. False optimism abounds.

Certainly designed to prop up the Obama economy.

Millions have dropped out of the labor force. Not as some of the media lies have explained but because they cannot find jobs.

A large portion of the jobs created have been part time jobs.

And food stamp usage has climbed to record levels.

The mainstream media is lying to the American public.

“10 Stories From The Cold, Hard Streets Of America That Will Break Your Heart”

“But if you listen to the mainstream media, you would think that happy days are here again for America.  Just check out some of the bizarre headlines that I have collected in recent weeks…

CNBC: “Stop whining! The US economy is in good shape

USA Today: “Economists: U.S. will see better growth in ’14

Newsday: “Why the economy isn’t doomed

Most Americans will buy into this propaganda and will never see the next major economic crisis coming until it is too late to do anything about it.”

#10 An excerpt from a heartbreaking letter that an unemployed woman named Paula Bray sent to Barack Obama…

Dear Mr. President,

I write to you today because I have nowhere else to turn. I lost my full time job in September 2012. I have only been able to find part-time employment — 16 hours each week at $12 per hour — but I don’t work that every week. For the month of December, my net pay was $365. My husband and I now live in an RV at a campground because of my job loss. Our monthly rent is $455 and that doesn’t include utilities. We were given this 27-ft. 1983 RV when I lost my job.

This is America today. We have no running water; we use a hose to fill jugs. We have no shower but the campground does. We have a toilet but it only works when the sewer line doesn’t freeze — if it freezes, we use the campground’s restrooms. At night, in my bed, when it’s cold out, my blanket can freeze to the wall of the RV. We don’t have a stove or an oven, just a microwave, so regular-food cooking is out. Recently we found a small toaster oven on sale so we can bake a little now because eating only microwaved food just wasn’t working for us. We don’t have a refrigerator, just an icebox (a block of ice cost about $1.89). It keeps things relatively cold. If it’s freezing outside, we just put things on the picnic table.

Sadly, this is just the beginning.

The economic despair that we are witnessing right now is just a taste of the horrible economic nightmare that is going to unfold in the United States during the coming years.

And already there are signs that things are starting to take another turn for the worse.  In recent months, we have seen a whole host of retail chains announce store closings.  In fact, one of my readers wrote to me the other day and told me about a home appliance chain known as “American TV” that is going out of business in the Midwest.  When these stores shut down, close to another 1000 Americans will soon be out of work

“While this is a sad moment it is also a proud moment. It’s a moment to be proud of our efforts and to be proud of what we have delivered to the community”, said Doug Reuhl, President and CEO of American since 1988. “Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are to our millions of loyal customers, and to the incredible, dedicated family of employees that we have been blessed with over our 60 years of business”.

Advanced notice of the business closing has been given to the 989 employees affected in eleven locations. Employees will be compensated, with benefits, through the notification period, and the majority will continue employment through the closing process.”

“Not every item of news should be published: rather must
those who control news policies endeavor to make every item
of news serve a certain purpose.”… Joseph Goebbels

“When you pick up your morning or evening newspaper and think
you are reading the news of the world, what you are reading
is a propaganda which has been selected, revised, and doctored
by some power which has a financial interest in you.”
…. Upton Sinclair

“‘Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed, will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. Already, in the Eleventh Edition, we’re not far from that point. But the process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there’s no reason or excuse for committing thoughtcrime. It’s merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won’t be any need even for that. The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect. Newspeak is Ingsoc and Ingsoc is Newspeak,’ he added with a sort of mystical satisfaction. ‘Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?'”…George Orwell, “1984”

Reporters without borders blames the US for the pursuit of Edward Snowden, conviction of WikiLeaks informer Bradley Manning and the seizure of phone records from Associated Press.

Even more disturbing is the Orwellian control of the media by the Obama camp.

Obama is more of a Big Brother character than Orwell’s.

“U.S. Plunges To 46th In World Press Freedom Index… Below Romania”

“you might expect, the economic decline of a nation into rule by a handful of corrupt oligarchs will have many other negative repercussions. One of these is a loss of civil rights and freedoms that many of us have taken for granted. Reporters Without Borders puts out their Press Freedom Index every year, and the 2014 ranking came out today. It was not a good showing for the USSA. Specifically, the U.S. registered one of the steepest falls of all nations, down 13 slots to the #46 position. As the screen shot shows, just above Haiti and just below Romania.”
“The United States was singled out for its pursuit of intelligence leaker Edward Snowden, the conviction of WikiLeaks informer Bradley Manning and the secret seizure of phone records from the Associated Press.

The group, known by its French acronym RSF, said the United States had suffered “one of the most significant declines” in press freedom last year, dropping 13 places to 46th in the 180-country index, wedged between Romania and Haiti.”

Obama media BLS jobs spin exceeds big brother of “1984”, 2.870 million real actual jobs lost in January, Global warming or harsh winter?, George Orwell understated coming lies

“11.4%: What the U.S. unemployment rate would be if labor force participation were back to January 2008 levels.” …James Pethokoukis, American Enterprise Institute, June 2013

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

George Orwell painted a picture of what he had seen from totalitarian regimes and what he envisioned could come. He understated what we experience today.

From “1984.”

“Winston dialled ‘back numbers’ on the telescreen and called for the appropriate issues of The Times, which slid out of the pneumatic tube after only a few minutes’ delay. The messages he had received referred to articles or news items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, as the official phrase had it, to rectify. For example, it appeared from The Times of the seventeenth of March that Big Brother, in his speech of the previous day, had predicted that the South Indian front would remain quiet but that a Eurasian offensive would shortly be launched in North Africa. As it happened, the Eurasian Higher Command had launched its offensive in South India and left North Africa alone. It was therefore necessary to rewrite a paragraph of Big Brother’s speech, in such a way as to make him predict the thing that had actually happened. Or again, The Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones. As for the third message, it referred to a very simple error which could be set right in a couple of minutes. As short a time ago as February, the Ministry of Plenty had issued a promise (a ‘categorical pledge’ were the official words) that there would be no reduction of the chocolate ration during 1984. Actually, as Winston was aware, the chocolate ration was to be reduced from thirty grammes to twenty at the end of the present week. All that was needed was to substitute for the original promise a warning that it would probably be necessary to reduce the ration at some time in April.

As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of The Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames.

What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the pneumatic tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of The Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs — to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct, nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. In no case would it have been possible, once the deed was done, to prove that any falsification had taken place. The largest section of the Records Department, far larger than the one on which Winston worked, consisted simply of persons whose duty it was to track down and collect all copies of books, newspapers, and other documents which had been superseded and were due for destruction. A number of The Times which might, because of changes in political alignment, or mistaken prophecies uttered by Big Brother, have been rewritten a dozen times still stood on the files bearing its original date, and no other copy existed to contradict it. Books, also, were recalled and rewritten again and again, and were invariably reissued without any admission that any alteration had been made. Even the written instructions which Winston received, and which he invariably got rid of as soon as he had dealt with them, never stated or implied that an act of forgery was to be committed: always the reference was to slips, errors, misprints, or misquotations which it was necessary to put right in the interests of accuracy.

But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty’s figures, it was not even forgery.

From Zero Hedge February 9, 2014.

“Much has been said about the January Non-farm payrolls number, which rose by 113K on expectations of a 180K increase, most of which has been focused on the US atmospheric conditions during the winter. There is a problem with those numbers: they don’t really exist (as for the non-impact of “the weather” on jobs we showed previously that the number of people “not at work due to weather” as calculated by the BLS itself. this winter was lower than 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 – so much for historic winter weather).

So what really happened in January?

For the real answer we have to go to the BLS’ non-seasonally adjusted data series. It is here that we find that in January, some 2.870 million real, actual jobs were lostnot gained. Putting this further in perspective, the number of NSA jobs losses in January 2014 was greater than in January of 2013, 2012, 2011 and tied that of 2010. In fact only during the peak of the depression in January 2009 was there a greater NSA drop in the first month of the year when 3.691 million jobs were lost.”

Let’s cut through the crap.

From the US Labor dept. BLS.

In January of 2009 when Obama took office there were 80,529,000 not in the labor force.

In January of 2014 there were 91,455,000  not in the labor force.

Look it up for yourself.

http://www.bls.gov/webapps/legacy/cpsatab1.htm

The government and media use the weather as an excuse when it is convenient.

Harsh winter or global warming.

More crap.
