“we leave nobody behind”…Barack Obama

Barack Obama says that he leaves no one behind when it is politically expedient.

From the Right Scoop October 30, 2012.

“I don’t need to tell you why I’m posting this. Obama literally said “we leave nobody behind” earlier today as he was attempting to look presidential and appear compassionate to help him win the election (h/t: Breitbart).

Tell that to the family of Tyrone Woods. Tell that to the family of Glen Doherty. These two men were calling for help and they were left behind. By Obama.”

Press Gaggle by Press Secretary Jay Carney Aboard Air Force One En Route Andrews Air Force Base, 10/29/2012

“As he said at FEMA Headquarters yesterday, the President has instructed his team to make sure that needed federal resources are in place to support state and local recovery efforts.”

“Separately, when the President gets back to Washington he will lead a meeting in the White House Situation Room, where he will be updated on the latest forecast for Hurricane Sandy and the extensive federal efforts underway to support the state and local response of this historic storm.

The President will convene the meeting via video teleconference with Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano, FEMA Administrator Fugate, Transportation Secretary LaHood, Energy Secretary Chu, and National Hurricane Center Director Richard Knabb. Also participating at the White House will be Chief of Staff Jack Lew, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security John Brennan, Deputy Chief of Staff Alyssa Mastromonaco, Deputy Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Richard Reed, and other senior members of the President’s team.”

“MR. CARNEY: The President’s priority right now is the safety and security of Americans who are in the path of the storm and who will be affected by it. It’s essential, in his view, that he be in Washington, one of the areas that will be affected and where his team is, to oversee that effort and to be updated on it.

It is true that the President is President 24 hours a day. This is one of the circumstances where, in his view, it makes the most sense for him to be in place in the White House fulfilling those responsibilities.”

“MR. CARNEY: I think that is not something I’m able to address. The fact is the storm is just taking effect now and having an impact now and making landfall I believe tonight. We have to focus on not the campaign and not the election, but on making sure that all federal resources are both prepositioned and in place to help states and localities respond to the storm, to help Americans who are affected by the storm. That’s our focus right now.”

“MS. PSAKI:  Well, sure.  As Jay has mentioned, our focus, the President’s focus, the campaign’s focus is ensuring the safety of the American people, of our volunteers, of our supporters.  That’s what the President is focused on every single day.”

“This is a time not for politics, but at a moment like this, with a storm as severe as this, with likely impacts as consequential as we will see, the President is very focused on making sure that the federal response effort is comprehensive, that every state and locality has what it needs.  And that includes all the prepositioning of resources that FEMA has done in key locations prior to landfall.  It includes embedding FEMA officials in state emergency centers so that that communication is immediate.  And it includes at the presidential level, directing all responsible parties in the federal government to be taking the necessary steps to ensure that everything possible is done to protect the American people in a storm like this.”

NC voter fraud, Dead people voting in Guilford Cumberland Forsyth Davidson counties?, 112 year olds, Carolina Transparency data from State Board of Elections

“In 2007, Merritt’s office uncovered 24,821 invalid driver’s license numbers and 700 invalid Social Security numbers in the voter registration database; 380 people who appeared to have voted after their deaths; and a handful of votes cast by 17-year-olds in previous election cycles.”…Carolina Journal October 26, 2010

“The end justifies the means, the template of the left.”…Citizen Wells

“The past, he reflected, had not merely been altered, it had
actually been destroyed. For how could you establish, even
the most obvious fact when there existed no record outside
your own memory?”…George Orwell, “1984″

Our population is aging but not this much.

Carolina Transparency, a user friendly database from the Civitas Institute, that gets data straight from the State Board of Elections, reveals an unrealistic number of 112 year olds voting in some NC counties.

Guilford 1,011 32.88%
Cumberland 821 26.7%
Forsyth 716 23.28%
Davidson 230 7.48%

http://www.carolinatransparency.com/votetracker/gen2012/age/112/

I can assure you that there are not that many 112 year olds in any of those counties.

So, the obvious question is: Are dead people voting?

That is, are the registrations of deceased people being used by others to vote illegally?

Somebody has some explaining to do.

From the Civitas Institute.

“NC Vote Tracker is back for the 2012 General Election! Vote Tracker is the user-friendly database at the Civitas Institute’s Carolina Transparency website (www.carolinatransparency.com/votetracker/) that helps us all wade through early voting numbers. The data comes straight from the State Board of Elections (SBOE) website, where it is refreshed each morning with the previous day’s early voting activity. First introduced in 2010, NC Vote Tracker allows us to break down the early voting data by party, age, gender, race, congressional and state House and Senate districts.

The first numbers we will be seeing from Vote Tracker are from absentee by-mail ballots. This year, just as in 2010, the absentee ballots were scheduled to be mailed Sept. 7, 60 days ahead of Election Day, but most counties failed to meet the statutorily required deadline. The two largest counties (Mecklenburg and Wake) told Civitas that they would be mailing their absentee by-mail ballots on September 22, so expect a jump in the numbers at that time. Unfortunately, this delay will have the biggest effect on the military vote. The biggest jump in numbers will come the day after One-Stop voting, which begins on Thursday, Oct. 18 — you can be sure that this form of voting will not be delayed.

In 2008 more than half of the votes in North Carolina were cast early. Of the 4,352,739 total votes cast in the 2008 General election, 2,411,116 were cast at One-Stop early voting, 227,799 by absentee by-mail voting, and 1,714,824 on Election Day.

In view of the fact that early voting has become very popular, we should expect most voters to vote early this year too. (It is important to note that in the 12 years since one-stop early voting was enacted, it has not increased voter turnout in North Carolina) We can also expect more people to vote this year, seeing that on August 30, 2008 there were 5,921,166 people registered to vote in North Carolina and on September 1, 2012 the State Board of Elections documented 6,026,628 registered voters. That’s an 8.2 percent voter registration increase in just four years.

Perhaps the most revealing numbers and those that will give us a better picture of the voters’ mood in this year’s election are the voter registration trends after the 2008 General Election. Since January 2009 the Democratic Party voter rolls have decreased by 109,945 voter (-1.75 percent), Republicans have lost 7,957 voters (-0.13 percent), Libertarians have gained 11,410 voters (+.18) percent and the unaffiliated ranks have grown 222,205 voters (+3.54 percent). With the knowledge that the unaffiliated ranks have grown and both major parties have decreased in number, we will be looking at voter turnout in the early voting period with a whole new perspective.

So, instead of waiting until after the election to find out who voted, we can get a head start by utilizing NC Vote Tracker to track voters who choose to vote early by mail or in-person at an early voting site.”

Obama exposed in NC in print, October 25, 2012, Rhino Times, Obama lies on Benghazi, Romney debate performance, US economy, Israel, Liberal mainstream media having hissy fit

“We tried our plan—and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”…Barack Obama

“The function of the press is very high. It is almost Holy.
It ought to serve as a forum for the people, through which
the people may know freely what is going on. To misstate or
suppress the news is a breach of trust.”…. Louis D. Brandeis

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed
–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into
history and became truth. “Who controls the past,” ran the
Party slogan, “controls the future: who controls the present
controls the past.”…George Orwell, “1984″

From John Hammer of the Rhino Times, in print in NC, October 25, 2012.

“But technology has its downside as well, and President Barack Hussein Obama is learning about the problems with electronic communication. The problem is that people can go back and find the records.

Obama tried to blame the whole Benghazi confusion on the State Department and the intelligence community. It simply was not believable that during and after the attack the State Department and the intelligence community believed that the attack was the result of a spontaneous demonstration. Four people were killed in the attack but everyone else survived, plus there were the surveillance videos.

Obama clearly was doing his best to push this entire controversy past Nov. 6 because after Nov. 6 it won’t matter whether he got an email from Ambassador Chris Stevens the day before the attack demanding more security, or a text message during the attack describing the well-organized planned attack that was taking place.

The truth is that Obama knew that it was an organized planned attack, but it doesn’t fit in with the worldview that he is trying to sell to the American people that the US has defeated al Qaeda and the world is a safer place because of President Obama. The truth didn’t fit in with his message, so he changed the story that he told to the American people and now he has been caught. It may change someone’s vote to know that the president deliberately misled the American people to better his chance of getting reelected.”

“The polls that the public sees just aren’t that good. Proof of that is that they still have North Carolina in the “leaning Romney” category. Barring some last minute surprise that will cause even hardcore Republicans to vote for Obama there is no way that Obama can win North Carolina. So any poll that doesn’t put North Carolina solidly in the Romney camp, and I haven’t seen one that does, is automatically suspect.”

“Judging from the campaigns, not only does Romney think he is ahead, Obama is convinced that Romney has won and is running around the country like a madman attacking Romney, trying to make something happen.

And Obama has to attack Romney; he has no other viable campaign. Obama can’t run on his record and he has a big problem if he presents a great plan to bring the country’s economy back around because then the question is, Why aren’t you doing this now? Why do you have to wait to get reelected?”

“One of the biggest lies of the debate was when Obama talked about Israel being “our greatest ally in the region.” Obama refused to even meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he was in the US this fall. Obama said it didn’t fit into his schedule, but during the same time he managed to find time for David Letterman and a lot of campaigning, which indicates his priorities.

Also, the White House has refused to say that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Obama has been as rude to Netanyahu as one head of state can be to another, and now he is trying to say that he believes Israel is our closest ally. You simply don’t treat your friends the way Obama has treated Israel. As president he has never visited Israel.”

“But in the debate it certainly didn’t appear that Obama knew more about foreign affairs than Romney. In fact, Romney did what presidents often do and mentioned some obscure groups and movements that may be big news in national security briefings but haven’t made the daily newspapers. It made Romney seem like he was more knowledgeable.

Obama’s comment about horses and bayonets was just rude. It was a good idea, but the way he said it was rude and mean. No one doubts that Romney knows all about aircraft carriers and submarines. But Obama is a rude man. He is rude to our allies, rude to the people he should be working with in Congress, rude to his political opponents and rude to foreign heads of state who visit him in the White House.

Romney once again didn’t take the bait.

But Romney’s big advantage in this race is the economy. The question that people are going to be asking when they go into the polls is, “Am I better off than I was four years ago?” And for the vast majority of Americans the answer is no.

Not only did Obama allow Romney to talk about the economy, he got sucked in and started talking about it himself.”

“The liberal mainstream media are having a hissy fit right now. The liberal media have figured out that their candidate is not going to win and they are beside themselves. The attitude seems to be, how can the American people ignore all the horrible things they have written about Romney and vote for him?”

“The New York Times Sunday magazine did a hit job on Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan this week. It is amazing what they manage to weave into an article like it belongs. But the reporter, Mark Leibovich, seemed to dislike Sen. Rob Portman even more than Ryan.

Here’s one phrase about Portman, which is really interesting if you have a few facts: “One mark against the wealthy senator was that he might be perceived as too much of a Grey Poupon Republican …”

Here’s the problem. Portman is certainly wealthy, and he is a senator, but he is not a “wealthy senator.” He is kind of average by Senate standards. Portman doesn’t even make the list of the 50 wealthiest members of Congress. Portman, according to Roll Call, is worth about $6.72 million.”

“So of the top 10 richest members of Congress, three are Republicans and seven are Democrats. And Portman doesn’t make the top 50, yet The New York Times refers to him as a “wealthy senator.” How many times have you read – wealthy Sen. Dianne Feinstein, wealthy Sen. John Kerry, or wealthy Sen. Frank Lautenberg?”

“The article is an incredible piece of liberal Democrat propaganda, but very smoothly done. It makes it sound like offering someone barbecue sauce is a bad thing. The tone is really incredible.”

“Barack Obama, show me the college loans.”…Citizen Wells

Donald Trump has stated that he had excellent teachers.

I had excellent teachers as well.

I understand the significance of Trump’s offer of $ 5 million dollars to Obama to release his college and passport records.

I have never discounted the importance of Obama’s birth certificate and natural born citizen deficiencies. However, several years ago I decided to highlight his college records as well. This and other records from his past are all part of a puzzle picture. Every piece is important.

With this one simple move, Donald Trump will bring to the attention of millions more Americans, why Obama is hiding his college and passport records. After all, why wouldn’t Obama just release his college records anyway, especially when  his favorite charity will receive $ 5 million.

  • Most American are unaware of Obama hiding his college records and his efforts to do so.
  • Donations to Obama for America in 2008 were used to pay private attorneys to help Obama keep his records hidden.
  • Since taking the White House in January of 2009, Obama has used numerous Justice Dept. attorneys, at taxpayer expense, to help Obama keep his hidden.
  • Obama has constantly talked about his student loans. Show me the loans!
  • Did Obama register as a foreign student to take advantage of loans?
  • Obama attended Occidental College, after a dismal high school performance, on a full scholarship.
  • Khalid Al-Mansour helped Obama get into Harvard and provided financing. Mansour was a advisor to Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal.
  •  How did Obama get into Harvard after a dismal performance in high school and Occidental?

Obama default in 2008 NC voting machines, Guilford County Obama default again in 2012, Voting machine calibration?, Is there a party default on NC voting machines?

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any Party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments which he would not be able to understand, much less answer. And yet he was in the right! They were wrong and he was right. The obvious, the silly, and the true had got to be defended. Truisms are true, hold on to that! The solid world exists, its laws do not change. Stones are hard, water is wet, objects unsupported fall towards the earth’s centre. With the feeling that he was speaking to O’Brien, and also that he was setting forth an important axiom, he wrote:

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984”

Reports are already coming in of Romney votes being overridden with Obama votes in Guilford County NC.

https://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2012/10/24/greensboro-guilford-county-votes-default-to-obama-romney-vote-override-voting-machine-calibration-problem-board-of-elections-director-george-gilbert-recurring-problem/

This also happened in 2008.

Is there a party default for voting machines in NC?

From Black Box Voting October October 25, 2008.

“Is there a “party default” on touch screen machines? NC votes flip to Obama”

“GUILFORD COUNTY – “Laurie Edwards of Thomasville heard a strange voting story from her mother this week.

Turns out it’s a fairly widespread problem with touch-screen voting machines.

Edwards said her mother, Liz Odom of Greensboro, had problems getting a voting machine in Jamestown to accept her presidential vote on Friday. She cancelled the vote until the machine accepted it.

“I have had several complaints of this happening, with the machines giving the Democratic vote when the Republican was selected,” Bill Wright, chairman of the Guilford County Republican Party, told elections officials Friday. “These machines should be calibrated every day so this does not happen.”

Election officials agreed to check the iVotronic machines more carefully and urged voters to study the review screens to make sure all their selections are correct before casting the electronic ballot.

“We know not everyone is pushing that review screen button,” Wright said.

West Virginia voters have reported similar problems with touch-screen machines manufactured by Election Systems & Software, which is North Carolina’s only machine vendor. Experts acknowledge that the machines can scramble vote selections if they are uncalibrated, causing a touch in the wrong place and an incorrect vote selection.

“Voters should tell us if they are having any problems,” said Guilford County Elections Director George Gilbert. “If they don’t tell us, then we can’t know. I don’t know how many of these are calibration problems. Some people touch the wrong spot.”

Gilbert said older machines present the most problems. Election workers test voting machines before deploying them to voting sites.

“The new ones do not get out of calibration in two weeks of use,” he said. “We will find the ones that are out of calibration.””

http://blackboxvoting.com/s9/index.php?/archives/323-Is-there-a-party-default-on-touch-screen-machines-NC-votes-flip-to-Obama.html

From Citizen Wells November 2, 2010.

“A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended.

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.”

https://citizenwells.wordpress.com/2010/11/02/nc-voter-fraud-update-voting-machine-errors-nc-gop-lawsuit-status-voter-registration-issues/

From WITN October 30, 2010.

“Judge Rules On GOP Voting Machine Lawsuit”

“A Federal judge ordered Saturday that the State Board of Elections be required to take steps to ensure voters’ ballots are accurately cast, following a lawsuit filed by the NCGOP after receiving multiple reports of voting inaccuracies in several North Carolina counties.

“We are pleased with today’s outcome,” said NCGOP Chairman Tom Fetzer. “But it is unfortunate that a Federal judge had to intervene. The State Board of Elections should have voluntarily taken these steps to ensure a free and fair election.”

On Saturday evening, after a two-day hearing, a Federal Judge ordered in the NCGOP’s favor, requiring the SBOE to take the following steps on Election Day:

1) Provide written and oral notice to every voter using touch screen machines that problems exist, and to carefully review their ballots before confirming them.

2) Preserve all Personal Electronic programs, ballots, metadata, source codes, and any programs or data that reflects machine calibration.

3) Issue an order that poll workers in all precincts be required to keep a record of all complaints by voters regarding the touch screen voting machines.

The suit was filed against the SBOE by the NCGOP after receiving multiple reports of voting inaccuracies in counties across North Carolina. The complaints followed a similar pattern, in that voters using touch screen voting machines were attempting to cast a straight-ticket Republican vote, while the machine attempted to verify their vote as a straight-ticket Democrat.

Previous Story:

State Board of Elections officials are meeting with GOP officials Saturday in Raleigh to discuss recent problems occurring with electronic voting machines.

Those officials are trying to come up with a resolution after North Carolina’s Republican Party sued the State Board of Elections Friday, alleging that touch-screen machines are thwarting efforts by voters to cast Repubican ballots.

Election officials have said there have only been a few isolated problems with voting machines and that officials were able to quickly fix the problems.

Republican Party officials say they have heard problems in a number of counties. They are demanding that election officials provide notice to all voters about problems, preserve all data and track all complaints.

Two Craven County Election workers were fired after they talked to WITN about these problems.

We will bring you an update on this meeting as soon as it becomes available.”

“Guilford Co. voters say ballot cast for Romney came up Obama on machine”

“GREENSBORO, N.C. –The Presidential election is just around the corner and voting issues have already become a problem in Guilford County.
On Monday, several voters complained that their electronic ballot machine cast the wrong vote. All the complaints were made by people who voted at the Bur-Mil Park polling location.

One of the voters, Sher Coromalis, says she cast her ballot for Governor Mitt Romney, but every time she entered her vote it defaulted to President Obama.
“I was so upset that this could happen,” said Coromalis.

Guilford County Board of Elections Director George Gilbert says the problem arises every election. It can be resolved after the machine is re-calibrated by poll workers.

“It’s not a conspiracy it’s just a machine that needs to be corrected,” Gilbert said.

After the third try, Coromalis says she was able to get her vote counted for Gov. Romney but was still annoyed.
“I should have just mailed it in,” Coromalis said.

Elections officials say the machines have been fixed as of Tuesday, and no problems have been reported since.

Early Voting ends November 3.”

Obama Romney third debate, Obama Benghazi lies, Obama takes credit for Osama Bin Laden but worked against efforts, Navy Seals did job Obama delayed

“With some trying to turn bin Laden’s death into a campaign talking point for Obama’s reelection, it is useful to remember that the trail to bin Laden started in a CIA black site — all of which Obama ordered closed, forever, on the second full day of his administration — and stemmed from information obtained from hardened terrorists who agreed to tell us some (but not all) of what they knew after undergoing harsh but legal interrogation methods. Obama banned those methods on Jan. 22, 2009.”…Jose A. Rodriguez Jr. 31 year CIA veteran

“But Crowley and Obama had it wrong. the Post’s Glenn Kessler explained:

What did Obama say in the Rose Garden a day after the attack in Libya? ”No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this nation,” he said.
But he did not say “terrorism”—and it took the administration days to concede that that it an “act of terrorism” that appears unrelated to initial reports of anger at a video that defamed the prophet Muhammad.”…Washington Post Oct. 17, 2012

The third debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney takes place tonight, October 22, 2012 at 9:00 PM. The focus will be foreign policy.

Obama has a problem. The lies he and his administration told about the terrorist attack at Benghazi. He will predictably respond with Orwellian damage control.

There is a consensus that Obama will continue to brag about killing Osama Bin Laden. However, the only thing that Obama can take credit for is not delaying the operation further by giving the order.

Let’s be clear. The Navy Seals risked all and deserve most of the credit.

A new book claims that

“Obama ‘cancelled missions to kill bin Laden THREE TIMES after getting cold feet – until Hillary Clinton stepped in'”

“Barack Obama cancelled three operations to kill Osama bin Laden before finally going ahead with the mission at the insistence of Hillary Clinton, according to a new book.

The explosive allegation is contained in an expose by journalist Rich Miniter, who argues that the White House’s carefully-crafted narrative of Obama as a decisive leader who dispatched the al-Qaeda leader despite the doubts of advisers is a myth.

Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him will be published on Tuesday. Excerpts have been viewed by Mail Online.

Miniter, a former ‘Wall Street Journal’, ‘Washington Times’ and ‘Sunday Times’ of London journalist, cites an unnamed source within Joint Special Operations Command as revealing that three ‘kill’ missions were cancelled by Obama in January, February and March 2011.

Bin Laden was eventually killed by US Navy SEALs inside his compound in Abbotobad, Pakistan in May 2011.”

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2191021/EXCLUSIVE-Obama-cancelled-missions-kill-bin-Laden-THREE-TIMES-getting-cold-feet–Hillary-Clinton-stepped-claims-explosive-new-book.html

The search for Bin Laden began years before Obama took office.

“The CIA was able to find him by tracking a courier.  This was a process that took years.  It actually began during the Bush Administration — in 2007.  How did the Intelligence Community find the courier who eventually took them to bin Laden?  They found him through information gained from interrogating terrorist prisoners.

Let’s repeat that point because it needs to be emphasized.  Ultimately, bin Laden was found and killed as a result of information gained from the interrogation of a captured terrorist.  Actually, given all of the ink and pixels that have been spilled over this subject, it bears repeating one more time: bin Laden’s death is a direct result of information gained from the interrogation of detainees, reportedly at the famed Guantanamo Bay prison camp.”

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/05/bin_ladens_death_and_the_vindi.html

From the Washington Post April 30, 2012.

“The path to bin Laden’s death didn’t start with Obama”

“As we mark the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, President Obama deserves creditfor making the right choice on taking out Public Enemy No. 1.But his administration never would have had the opportunity to do the right thing had it not been for some extraordinary work during the George W. Bush administration. Much of that work has been denigrated by Obama as unproductive and contrary to American principles.

He is wrong on both counts.

Shortly after bin Laden met his maker last spring, courtesy of U.S. Special Forces and intelligence, the administration proudly announced that when Obama took office, getting bin Laden was made a top priority. Many of us who served in senior counterterrorism positions in the Bush administration were left muttering: “Gee, why didn’t we think of that?”The truth is that getting bin Laden was the top counterterrorism objective for U.S. intelligence since well before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. This administration built on work painstakingly pursued for many years before Obama was elected — and without this work, Obama administration officials never would have been in a position to authorize the strike on Abbottabad, Pakistan, that resulted in bin Laden’s overdue death. In 2004, an al-Qaeda terrorist was captured trying to communicate with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of the terror organization’s operations in Iraq. That captured terrorist was taken to a secret CIA prison — or “black site” — where, initially, he was uncooperative. After being subjected to some “enhanced interrogation techniques” — techniques authorized by officials at the most senior levels of the U.S. government and that the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel confirmed were consistent with U.S. law — the detainee became compliant. He was not one of the three al-Qaeda operatives who underwent waterboarding, the harshest of the hard measures.

Once this terrorist decided that non-cooperation was a non-starter, he told us many things — including that bin Laden had given up communicating via telephone, radio or Internet, and depended solely on a single courier who went by “Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti.” At the time, I was chief of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center. The fact that bin Laden was relying on a lone courier was a revelation that told me bin Laden had given up day-to-day control of his organization. You can’t run an operation as large, complex and ambitious as al-Qaeda by communicating only every few months. It also told me that capturing him would be even harder than we had thought.

Armed with the pseudonym of bin Laden’s courier, we pressed on. We asked other detainees in our custody if they had ever heard of “al-Kuwaiti.” Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11, reacted in horror when he heard the name. He backed into his cell and vigorously denied ever hearing of the man. We later intercepted communications KSM sent to fellow detainees at the black site, in which he instructed them: “Tell them nothing about the courier!”

In 2005 another senior detainee, Abu Faraj al-Libi, told us that this courier had informed him that Libi had been selected to be al-Qaeda’s No. 3 official. Surely that kind of information is delivered only by highly placed individuals.

A couple of years later, after I became head of the National Clandestine Service, the CIA was able to discover the true name of the courier. Armed with that information, the agency worked relentlessly to locate that man. Finding him eventually led to tracking down and killing bin Laden.

With some trying to turn bin Laden’s death into a campaign talking point for Obama’s reelection, it is useful to remember that the trail to bin Laden started in a CIA black site — all of which Obama ordered closed, forever, on the second full day of his administration — and stemmed from information obtained from hardened terrorists who agreed to tell us some (but not all) of what they knew after undergoing harsh but legal interrogation methods. Obama banned those methods on Jan. 22, 2009.”

This past weekend, Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Carl Levin attacked statements made in May 2011 by me, former CIA director Michael Hayden and former attorney general Michael Mukasey regarding what led to bin Laden’s death. They misunderstood and mischaracterized our positions.

No single tactic, technique or approach led to the successful operation against bin Laden. But those who suggest it was all a result of a fresh approach taken after Jan. 20, 2009, are mistaken.”

“It — it — it — he did in fact, sir. … He did call it an act of terror.”…Candy Crowley

“Obama, Romney allies square off on foreign policy”

“On the eve of their final presidential debate, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama – through their allies – squared off Sunday over which candidate would best protect the nation’s interests and security abroad with just two weeks left in a race that polls show is increasingly tight.

Both candidates stayed largely out of view, preparing vigorously for their Monday face-off focused on foreign policy.

Republicans accused Obama of leaking word of possible negotiations with Iran in pursuit of political gain. Democrats shot back, arguing that Romney and his party are the ones playing politics with national security.

The haggling played out on Sunday news shows at a critical time for Romney and Obama, whose marathon race has become exceedingly close as it lurches toward its November conclusion. Early and absentee voting are already under way in many of the most competitive states, upping the pressure on both candidates to lock in supporters.

Two weeks out, the race appears to be tied, with both candidates taking 47 percent among likely voters in a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Sunday that reflected a boost of support for Romney following his lauded performance in the first debate in early October.

Romney’s top supporters launched sweeping condemnations of Obama’s handling of foreign policy, assailing him over a deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and arguing that under the president’s negligent watch, Iran has crept closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Republican Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, who played Obama in Romney’s debate preparations, said a new report claiming the U.S. and Iran had agreed to direct negotiations seemed like “another example of a national security leak from the White House.”

“They’ve done a lot of that,” Portman said, alluding to accusations over the summer that Obama’s administration was leaking information to bolster his political prospects ahead of the election. He was echoed by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who called the timing of the report “pretty obvious.”

The White House said Saturday that while it is prepared for direct talks with Iran, there’s no current agreement to meet. On Sunday, Obama’s backers credited him for isolating Iran within the global community and adopting effective sanctions that have crippled the Persian Gulf nation.

“For two years, the president traveled the world putting together a withering international coalition. And now the sanctions that they agreed on are bringing the Iranian economy to its knees,” said David Axelrod, a senior Obama adviser. “They’re feeling the heat. And that’s what the sanctions were meant to do.”

Romney, taking a break from debate prep Sunday in Delray Beach, Fla., declined to answer a reporter’s question about whether he would be open to one-on-one talks with Iran.

Still, Obama’s allies were wedged into a defensive posture as Republicans undertook an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to deflating Obama’s foreign policy record. Graham said the Libya attack reflected “one of the most major breakdowns of national security in a very long time.” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in a clear nod to Cuban-American voters in his battleground state, even suggested Obama’s loosening of travel restrictions to Cuba had provided a source of cash for the Castro regime and undermined political freedoms.

Democrats were ready with indictments of their own. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the House GOP’s release Friday of 166 pages of Libya-related documents had put lives in danger.

“People around the world will now know that you’re at risk if you cooperate with the United States,” said Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff.

Romney’s supporters waxed optimistic that the race is trending in the Republican’s direction, even in crucial states like Ohio that Obama won four years ago and where unemployment is on the decline. Portman said he’s traversed his home state over the past two weeks on behalf of Romney and likes what he’s seeing on the ground.

“The enthusiasm energy is on our side this year. I mean, it’s not like 2008 at all,” he said.

Both candidates dedicated their weekend to intensive study for the debate; Obama huddled with advisers in Maryland and Romney with his team in Florida.

On the agenda were Iran-Israel tensions, China, terrorism and the war in Afghanistan – all subjects expected to come up Monday in the 90-minute encounter moderated by CBS News’ Bob Schieffer. Although polls show the economy is of top concern to most voters, global affairs have cropped up as a key issue in the final weeks due to unrest in Libya, Syria and elsewhere.

Romney paused his preparations to attend church with his wife Sunday morning and to watch his traveling press corps play touch football against his senior staff. The former Massachusetts governor presided over a coin toss on the beach, then gathered his aides to cheer them on.

“That’s right, don’t worry about injuries guys, this counts. Win,” he joked.

Romney didn’t talk politics, refusing to answer a question about whether, if elected, he would be open to direct talks with Iran. Questions from reporters about the new poll and Monday’s debate likewise went unanswered.

Obama arrived Friday at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains, where he’s been holding 12-hour practice sessions, starting with policy discussions at 10 a.m. Obama and his team hold mock debates in the evening in a set designed to look like the one in Boca Raton, Fla., where the two White House hopefuls will square off for the last time. Ron Klain, a former White House aide brought back for debate prep, is playing the role of Schieffer.

Axelrod and Portman spoke on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” while Emanuel appeared on ABC’s “This Week.” Graham spoke on “Fox News Sunday” and Rubio on CBS’ “Face the Nation.””

California data skewed Labor Dept. unemployment claims report, CA data reveals real unemployment rate, Labor force participation rate 62.4 % dropped more than unemployment rate since Feb 2012

California data skewed Labor Dept. unemployment claims report, CA data reveals real unemployment rate, Labor force participation rate 62.4 % dropped more than unemployment rate since Feb 2012

“With a 63.7% labor force participation, “conditions in the labor market are considerably worse than indicated” in July’s report”…economist Joshua Shapiro, WSJ August 3, 2012

If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”…Jesus, John 8:32

California has the third highest unemployment rate in the country at 10.2 percent. CA has been getting a lot of press recently for suspicious reporting the prior week that skewed the US Labor Dept. unemployment claims report. What you are probably not getting from the media is the fact that since February 2012, the labor force participation rate has dropped more than the unemployment rate.

First the reporting controversy.

From the Daily Pen October 19, 2012.

“Based on the increase of the denominator in the ratio, the analysts focused on California as the possible state which they believed had been left out because California has the largest population and largest labor force in the U.S. which, if omitted, would indeed cause about a 0.5% fluctuation based on previous report numbers.
In reaction to accusations of impropriety, the California Employment Development Department strongly denied that it had failed to properly document the data.
“Reports that California failed to fully report data to the U.S. Department of Labor, as required, are incorrect and irresponsible,” California Employment Development Department director Pam Harris said in a statement last week.
“The California Employment Development Department, which administers the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program in the state, has reported all UI claims data and submitted the data on time.”
However, it now appears the analysts were right.  Early Thursday, the federal government finally revealed that California was indeed the state that had, in fact, underreported jobless claims, as suspected by many, after the weekly Labor Department job report, skewing the national jobless claims results. This week’s updated jobs report corrected the error and showed unemployment claims spiking back up by 46,000.
The intentional omission of California’s data promoted an artificially favorable economic report for the Obama administration because the inclusion of California’s unemployed would have cause the jobless rate to increase by 0.02%, not decrease by 0.48% to 7.8%.
Regardless, the pro-Obama, biased media spread the “good news” quickly, with outlets like CNN and Bloomberg declaring, “Jobless claims fall to four-year low.”
Within hours, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Labor Department analysts announced that one major state had failed to fully document jobless claims. They declined to name the state.
Now, it has been learned that Marty Morgenstern, the secretary of the California municipal agency that under-reported unemployment claims, contributed to President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential election campaign.
According to campaign disclosure records, Morgenstern donated $4,600 — the maximum amount allowed by law — to the 2008 Obama campaign, beginning with a $1,000 contribution to Obama for America in February 2008. Morgenstern followed up that donation with a $1,300 contribution in June, and then a $2,300 payout in early September.
Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Morgenstern to lead the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency in 2011. The state agency oversees the Employment Development Department.
California recent in-state report claims its unemployment rate has dropped from 10.6% to 10.2%.
Analysts are rightly skeptical of the report. “

http://thedailypen.blogspot.com/2012/10/hawaii-health-department-not-only.html

From the Wall Street Journal October 18, 2012.

“So this week’s initial jobless claims spiked back up, jumping 46,000 to 388,000, a stark reversal from last week’s report and a number that suggests the economy still just flat-out isn’t generating enough jobs.
But more importantly, well, yes, we’re going back to Cali.
When last week’s numbers came out much lower than expected, the explanation from the Labor Dept. was that one large state didn’t report all the quarterly data on time. In the midst of a contentious election season, the issue sparked a minor firestorm and people jumped in trying to figure which state was responsible.
More than one said it was California. California, in no uncertain terms, said it wasn’t them. The Labor Dept. said, last week, that this week’s figures would make it clear which state was responsible. Guess which state the numbers point to.
As Sarah Portlock explained:
There were nearly 5,000 fewer layoffs in the service and retail industries in California for the week ended Oct. 6, according to the Labor Department report.
The Labor Department sets seasonal factors well in advance based on historical trends but that can skew numbers when state-level reporting doesn’t match those established patterns.
“These types of things happen several times a year,” a Labor Department official said Thursday. “It tends to be temporary.”
California maintain today that it did indeed report all data to the Labor Dept. on time, and that the seasonal adjustment was the cause of the skew. The Labor Dept. is saying that last week’s skew was due to a lower-than-expected number of claims from California. It’s possible that this all becomes nothing more than a lot of hair-splitting, elevated to a degree that it wouldn’t be if it weren’t election season, and if that September jobs report hadn’t stirred the wrath of Jack Welch.
The problem with seasonal adjustment is that it aims to correct data that move around in regular patterns. In this case, there’s usually a jump in claims in the first week of the quarter, so the adjustment takes away a bunch of claims. To keep the data smooth, those claims are added earlier in the prior quarter instead. Last week when some of the claims that would usually be filed in the first week of the month didn’t come in, the seasonals still kicked in and made it look like a big drop. The extra claims came in this week instead when the adjustment wasn’t expecting them. That made this week’s claims number look higher.
California’s numbers last week, late or not, skewed the seasonally adjusted data. The skew is gone this week. Bang. Go smell the flowers and forget all this whole imbroglio.
The season factors this month seem to be wreaking more havoc than usual,  so if you want a bottom line to all this nuttiness, look at the four-week moving average of claims. That rose to 365,500, from 354,750. Or you could just look at the unadjusted data, and rid yourself of all the seasonal adjustments that are causing all this agita. Unadjusted, initial claims were up 29,000 to 359,000.
The real bottom line is the U.S. economy isn’t generating enough jobs to get it back on a self-sustaining footing, which means the feds and the Fed are going to remain under pressure to pick up the slack.”
Politicians and the media lie, numbers don’t.
The following data is taken from the California Labor Market Review for September 2012.
There is more than suspect reporting in initial unemployment claims from CA. On Page 7 we find the changes in unemployment rate and labor force participation rate from February to September 2012 under seasonally adjusted.
February 2012.

Unemployment rate 10.9 %    LF Participation rate 63.3 %.

September 2012.

Unemployment rate 10.2 %    LF Participation rate 62.4 %.

The Labor Force Participation Rate dropped more than the unemployment rate.

So the following claim:

“The California unemployment rate was 10.2 percent in September, down 0.4
percentage point from August.”

is very misleading.

The following facts are also interesting.
“By race and ethnicity, the September 2012 unemployment rate for blacks was 18.1 percent, Hispanics 13.2 percent, and whites 10.5 percent.”

“By duration, the largest group of unemployed persons was those who had been unemployed 52 weeks or more (691,000 persons or 35.0 percent of all unemployed). The next largest group was those who had been unemployed 5 to 14 weeks (418,000 persons or 21.2 percent of all unemployed)”

“Persons not in the labor force increased by 45,000 (0.4 percent) in September to 10,745,000. Over the past year, the number of persons not in the labor force increased by 295,000 (2.8 percent).”

NC unemployment rate 9.6 percent, October 19, 2012, 4.5 percent when Bush took office, 4.7 percent when Democrats took both houses in January 2007

NC unemployment rate 9.6 percent, October 19, 2012, 4.5 percent when Bush took office, 4.7 percent when Democrats took both houses in January 2007

“Guilford (Large NC County) appears on it’s way to a third consecutive year with annual jobless rates in double digits. Economists say that likely hasn’t happened since the Great Depression.”…Greensboro News Record December 2, 2011

“The weak job growth recorded during 2011 did little to replace the jobs lost earlier in the business cycle. Since the onset of the “Great Recession,” North Carolina has lost, on net, 295,300 positions, or 7.1 percent of its payroll employment base.”

“Absent significant changes in economic conditions and public policies, weak job growth, high levels of joblessness, and pervasive economic hardships appear to be in store for North Carolina, with 2012 apt to mark the fifth consecutive year of negative or minimal job growth.”…South by North Strategies, LTD February 10, 2012

“People leaving the labor force were a big reason that North Carolina’s unemployment rate dropped to 9.4 percent in April, a month when only 1,400 more people got jobs.”…WRAL May 18, 2012

The NC Department of Commerce announced the unemployment rate for September. 9.6 percent. To put this in perspective it was  4.5 percent when Bush took office in January 2001 and 4.7 percent when the Democrats took control of both houses of congress in January 2007.

In my humble opinion, the report leaves much to be desired and appears to be attempting to put a positive spin on the numbers. Here are a couple of statements that I found interesting.

“Among the major industries in North Carolina, Government had the largest over-the-month increase in employment at 30,600 (4.6%), followed by Education & Health Services (2,700; 0.5%), Professional & Business Services (2,300; 0.4%), Construction (1,700; 1.0%), and Manufacturing (200; <0.1%).”

“The Goods Producing sector decreased by 4,500 (0.7%) jobs over the year. Construction declined by 6,700 (3.7%), followed by Mining & Logging (200; 3.5%), while Manufacturing grew by 2,400 (0.5%).”

From Citizen Wells September 29, 2012.

“Despite the lies from politicians like Barack Obama who blamed George Bush for all of his ills, numbers do not lie.

When George Bush became president in January 2001, the unemployment rate in NC was 4.5 percent.

When the Democrats took control of both houses of congress in January 2007, the unemployment rate in NC was 4.7 percent.

When Obama took control of the White House in January 2009, the unemployment rate in NC was 9.0 percent. In November 2008 it was 7.8 percent.

Before the Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in January 2011, the unemployment rate hit a high of 11.4 percent in NC.

The stated unemployment rate is currently 9.7 percent in NC.

The National Labor Force Participation Rate is 63.5 percent, a record low.

The North Carolina Labor Force Participation Rate is 62.0 percent.
