No justice in Obama Justice Dept, New Black Panther Party dismissal, Judicial Watch, Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution

“If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it I’d be OK

But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.

And that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court-focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that.”…2001 Barack Obama interview on Chicago public radio station WBEZ

From The Washington Examiner July 30, 2012.
“Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution”

“A federal court in Washington, DC, held last week that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

The ruling came as part of a motion by the conservative legal watch dog group Judicial Watch, who had sued the DOJ in federal court to enforce a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents pertaining to the the New Black Panthers case. Judicial Watch had secured many previously unavailable documents through their suit against DOJ and were now suing for attorneys’ fees.

Obama’s DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney’s fees since “none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in” how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But United States District Court Judge Reggie Walton disagreed. Citing a “series of emails” between Obama political appointees and career Justice lawyers, Walton writes:

The documents reveal that political appointees within DOJ were conferring about the status and resolution of the New Black Panther Party case in the days preceding the DOJ’s dismissal of claims in that case, which would appear to contradict Assistant Attorney General Perez’s testimony that political leadership was not involved in that decision. Surely the public has an interest in documents that cast doubt on the accuracy of government officials’ representations regarding the possible politicization of agency decision-making.

In sum, the Court concludes that three of the four fee entitlement factors weigh in favor of awarding fees to Judicial Watch. Therefore, Judicial Watch is both eligible and entitled to fees and costs, and the Court must now consider the reasonableness of Judicial Watch’s requested award.

The New Black Panthers case stems from a Election Day 2008 incident where two members of the New Black Panther Party were filmed outside a polling place intimidating voters and poll watchers by brandishing a billy club. Justice Department lawyers investigated the case, filed charges, and when the Panthers failed to respond, a federal court in Philadelphia entered a “default” against all the Panthers defendants. But after Obama was sworn in, the Justice Department reversed course, dismissed charges against three of the defendants, and let the fourth off with a narrowly tailored restraining order.

“The Court’s decision is another piece of evidence showing the Obama Justice Department is run by individuals who have a problem telling the truth,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “The decision shows that we can’t trust the Obama Justice Department to fairly administer our nation’s voting and election laws.””

From Citizen Wells June 30, 2010.

“J. Christian Adams resigned recently as a voting rights attorney at the Justice Department.”

“On the day President Obama was elected, armed men wearing the black berets and jackboots of the New Black Panther Party were stationed at the entrance to a polling place in Philadelphia. They brandished a weapon and intimidated voters and poll watchers. After the election, the Justice Department brought a voter -intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party and those armed thugs. I and other Justice attorneys diligently pursued the case and obtained an entry of default after the defendants ignored the charges. Before a final judgment could be entered in May 2009, our superiors ordered us to dismiss the case.

The New Black Panther case was the simplest and most obvious violation of federal law I saw in my Justice Department career. Because of the corrupt nature of the dismissal, statements falsely characterizing the case and, most of all, indefensible orders for the career attorneys not to comply with lawful subpoenas investigating the dismissal, this month I resigned my position as a Department of Justice (DOJ) attorney.”

  1. Citizen Wells,
Love the headline, tells it like it is. The ‘Justice’ department is now an OXYMORON. This should be headline news across every major network, but the left media bias doesn’t want the people to know the truth. Thanks for being a true American and willing to post the facts Citizen Wells, because I’m really sick of the 1984 stuff.

  2. Statement of Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith Full Committee Hearing Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice

Statement of Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith
    Full Committee Hearing
Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice

Chairman Smith: Regrettably, the Obama administration has shown a disregard for the Constitution and rule of law in an effort to impose their agenda on the American people. There are many examples.

Efforts to block congressional inquiries about the Administration’s actions undermine the balance of power on which our nation was founded.

The Department of Justice still has not provided enough information about Operation Fast and Furious so that the American public and Congress can judge who in the Department bears responsibility for the decisions that led to Agent Brian Terry’s death.

The Justice Department refuses to comply with Congressional subpoenas that may shed light on why this program was authorized and who had knowledge of the inappropriate tactics.

The Department of Justice also has failed to provide relevant information that would have revealed the extent of Justice Kagan’s involvement in the development of the Affordable Care Act when she was Solicitor General.

If she did give counsel on the health care bill, which was her job, then she should recuse herself rather than evaluating the law as a member of the Supreme Court. The Justice Department has refused to let us interview her former assistant.

Neglecting to enforce or defend the laws enacted by Congress is another violation of the Administration’s constitutional obligation to the American people.

Under this President, the Justice Department has engaged in a pattern of selective enforcement of the law in order to advance its own partisan agenda.

For instance, the Obama administration has sought to prevent state and local authorities from enforcing immigration laws.

At the same time, the Justice Department has refused to bring cases against sanctuary cities that violate Federal law by prohibiting their officials from communicating with the Department of Homeland Security about illegal immigrants they encounter.

Such sanctuary cities directly challenge the federal government’s authority to enforce immigration laws.
The Administration’s unwillingness to uphold immigration laws has led to injuries and even death.

The Administration refuses to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, a law enacted by Congress and signed by then-President Bill Clinton.

This was a significant piece of legislation that was approved by a vote of 342 to 67 in the House and 85 to 14 in the Senate. Regardless of how one feels about the substance of the bill, the Department of Justice has an obligation to defend the laws of the land.

Efforts by the Administration to override election laws enacted by States also raise constitutional concerns.

Instead of acting to prevent voter fraud, the Department of Justice has challenged common-sense voter ID laws that require voters to identify themselves before they are allowed to vote.

The Department of Justice recently moved to block implementation of voter ID laws enacted by legislatures in Texas and South Carolina.

The Texas proposal was based on a similar law passed by the Indiana legislature, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2008. The Justice Department’s challenge to the law ignores Supreme Court precedent that affirms a state’s right to enact laws to protect the integrity of its elections.

The Department of Justice even threatened to sue Florida for trying to remove ineligible non-citizens from its voter rolls.

Why would the Department of Justice not want states to remove ineligible felons, ineligible non-citizens, and the dead from their voter rolls?

The Administration’s actions aren’t just wrong–they are arrogant, undemocratic, and an insult to the rule of law.

The Administration’s disregard for the Constitution and rule of law not only undermines our democracy, it threatens our national security.

The Justice Department has not taken the initiative to prosecute leaks of national security secrets. Recent leaks about a foiled bomb plot out of Yemen and a cyber attack against Iran are, in the words of Senate Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, “very detrimental . . . very concerning . . . [and] hurt our country.”

For the past three and half years, this Administration has engaged in a pattern of obstructionism, unaccountability, and partisanship.

The American people should have confidence that the Department of Justice fairly enforces laws. That confidence is lacking today. This hearing will explore how that confidence can be restored.

    Good find…
What is interesting to me is, when delving further into the oversight committee website, it becomes apparent that literally everything we know about has been seen, but little, if anything has been done about it. There are mounds of information on this obviously corrupt administration. To shoot down the AG in an election cycle, under these circumstances, is provably not political.
If people are criminals, then they are criminals….they did the acts, they took the risks, and they should therefore expect to be punished. I know that, if you hail from Chicago, that a certain amount of sleaze is acceptable and to be expected. When viewing this site however, it becomes clear that this is something far more than mere sleaze.

  4. coldwarvet, on the prior thread I left a post in response to yours on gays.

  5. coldwarvet2,
It angers me that members of Congress are aware of the the overstepping of Constitutional authority and the high crimes and misdemeanors this president has committed and they do NOTHING! NOTHING!

MO U.S. Representative Todd Akin (currently running for U.S. Senate), sent out letters asking for support to bring charges against the Obama/McCaskill Team in a court of public opinion. He presented a list of sixteen charges.

EXCUSE ME! As I recall the Constitution gives the House of Representatives the power to impeach a president!

He needs to take his list and stand on the House floor and read it off to the entire group of Repesentatives and ask for THEIR support to bring charges against Obama. But he won’t They’re all cowards. That’s why I’m supporting Hector Maldonado. We need men and women of integrity and courage, not a room full of eunuchs.

  6. coldwarvet2

    Cabby, Oldsalt, et al
I will bring my post over from the previous thread as it’s obvious that there is some interest. I wanted there to be some responses to the topic here first.
During a series of comments yesterday with Oldsalt79, a thought occurred to me that to date has not been covered anywhere that I have seen. We were discussing the gay rights issue and I neglected to mention that the gay rights issue is NOT about sex. It is about power…political power. It is about constitutional protections….which they, and their counterparts, the womens movement, the black movement, the hispanic movement, etc…ad nauseum, already have, and have had for a long time now. The political power I refer to here is “extra rights” or “extra legal” rights and protections. Apart from the obvious constitutional problems created with equal protection, there is a far more sinister agenda afoot which a lot of us have missed.
Yesterday, Oldsalt and I were discussing what issues would be presented should there be an armed civil revolt in this country as a result of the attempted siezure of our constitutional protections. Particularly, the 2nd Amendment protections guaranteed in the constitution.
During the Clinton administration, the “king of slease” was infusing gays into the military under the guise of a policy known euphemistically as “don’t ask, don’t tell”. What would be the danger of such a policy?…Fast forward to today…Not only can they now tell, but the policy now is openly soliciting gays under the guise of some obscure fairness doctrine. Didn’t they have the right to begin with?
Now, the sinister side of the issue. It is common knowledge that gays are generally politically far, far, left of center, and will support that position with a militancy not seen in most other groups. Their behaviors are evidentiarily deviant in nature which is easily provable in a natural setting. Enough on that.
Back to the subject of our dependence upon the military for either intervention or support during an armed revolt, and given the consideration that the controlling elements will more than likely be split along political, moral, and ethical lines once they are put in a position of having to choose…
What happens if the military has been so heavily infused with an element which is compatible with a political force in the process of hijacking the legal system of our country? They are now trained militarily. There is another issue here concerning the demographics within the military. The gay population is perhaps 1%? of the US population, but what happens when that demographic is shifted proportionately within a smaller population (the military) and becomes perhaps 20%…or more. Remember here, gays are militant in their philosophy and, along with that, a large percentage can be considered a cadre for the permeation of the existing population thus, creating more gays.

  7. coldwarvet2

I hear you there on the topic of the spine of our representatives. I’ve posted in the past that this will be a process…Whay “they” need to understand is that, as of these past few years, because the status quo carried their water for them and they were not necessarily “tasked” with anything, we are now exceedingly aware of what is going on. “They” need to know beyond any doubt that “we” know, and we will have loooong memories of what went down these past few years, along with their total failing to respond to our pleas for their assistance. Time marches on for them and, with new resources such as the super pacs and the Tea Party, we will slowly begin the arduous task of rebuilding our government and along with it, our nation… hopefully with a host of new and effective laws on the books that will preclude this from ever happening again.

  8. coldwarvet2

In response to yours on the previous thread…
The thrust of my post was that there is a process going on under the radar that will guarantee that there will at least be “some” that will side with this administration in the event things turn nasty.
The post about Alan West’s concerns about Islamic infiltration of the military is similar in nature in that it would reinforce any preexisting and preplanned military takeover.

“House Judiciary Report Finds Administration’s Lax Immigration Policies Are Deadly”

“Washington, D.C. – The House Judiciary Committee today released a report finding that thousands of illegal and criminal immigrants released by federal authorities as a result of the Obama administration’s lax immigration policies have gone on to commit more crimes, including murder, rape, kidnapping, and child molestation.

The report issued today, conducted by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS), contains an analysis of crosschecked data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that was subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee last November. The Committee subpoenaed the agency following the Obama administration’s announcement to stop deporting certain illegal immigrants flagged by Secure Communities, a successful and commonsense law enforcement program that identifies illegal immigrants arrested and booked in local jails.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) released the statement below regarding CRS’s findings.

Chairman Smith: “President Obama’s reckless amnesty agenda is dangerous and deadly for Americans. Rather than protect the American people he was elected to serve, President Obama has imposed a policy that allows thousands of illegal immigrants to be released into our communities. They have committed thousands of more crimes, including 19 murders, 3 attempted murders, and 142 sex crimes, which could have been avoided.

“For example, after an illegal immigrant was released, he and another illegal immigrant were arrested on suspicion of killing a man. And this is just one case. Illegal immigrants released from jail have committed other crimes, including nearly 2,000 DUI, over 1,400 drug violations, and more than 1,000 major criminal offenses and violent crimes, which consist of murder, assault, battery, rape, kidnapping, child molestation, domestic abuse, lynching, stalking, and torture.

“The Obama administration could have prevented these senseless crimes by enforcing our immigration laws. But President Obama continues to further his anti-enforcement agenda while innocent Americans suffer the consequences. His unwillingness to enforce immigration laws puts our communities at risk and costs American lives. We elect leaders to protect us – not put us in danger.”

You might have noticed that nowhere in this report is there any mention of what the committee intends to do about this finding. I like Lamar Smith, but I hold out little hope he will exercise any of the authority he could legitimately bring to bear against the perpetrators of this farce…
In essence he says …Obama and Holder are bad guys…over, and over, and over again not only in this report, but in almost every report…OK, now we know they are bad guys. In fact “we’ve” known they are bad guys for probably longer than you (house judiciary) have. Where have you guys been?…under a rock?….The question still remains, “what is going to be done about it?”…It is ongoing isn’t it?…We the people didn’t hire you to report to us what we already know…we hired you to get things done. To provide for our well being and to keep us and our government safe.

  12. …………I principally agree with the analysis of the infusion of sexual deviates, and female soldiers into our military services under the guise of a grand social experiment. It is indeed an experiment produced by people who possess sick, and otherwise warped minds. Sexual deviates are deliberately allowed to infuse themselves into our military services for a number of reasons. Coldwarvet has in my own personal belief very accurately shown most of the primary reasons behind the infusion. But there are also a number of other reasons for the infusion which are equally as important as those outlined by Coldwarvet. I do not say that these people should or should not be allowed to be in the military, but I do say that their agenda is as it has always been, to PROMOTE DEVIANT SEXUAL ACTIVTY WHEREVER,AND WHENEVER THEY CAN,WITH WHOEVER THEY CAN, AND BY VIRTUE OF ANY DEVIANT ACT NECESSARY. This is because such people immensely enjoy the sick sexual acts which they perpetrate. This destroys the moral fiber and subsequent effectiveness of a fighting military force. Ollie North along with other military commanders have commented many times to the effect that such people do detract from the moral quality, as well as the overall fighting effectiveness of our forces in combat situations.
As a veteran myself I have had my own run ins with such people while serving in the Navy and stationed at the old destroyer base which was then at Long Beach, California. There was a lot of the sexual deviates who prayed upon young sailors as they walked out of the main gate of the base to go on liberty. We used to call the area around the exit QUEERSVILLE. Why would any human being hang around the exit of a Naval Base. It was not done for any religous reasons, or for any potential monetary gains. It was for one reason only which was to sexually invade the body of any young sailor who was weak minded enough to permit such a personal attack. As for Camp Pendleton, which was much further South and nearby Oceanside, Cal. the young marines would often go QUEER bashing. Many of the marines were subsequently Courts Martialed for violently attacking the HOMOSEXUALS who had FIRST tried to sexually molest them, then they beat the living hell out of every one of the deviates. The Marines who were caught were placed in the Pendleton Stockade, and eventually prosecuted for their individual actions. In first offense situations most received Summary Courts Martials. But ALL were always reduced in rate as well. If they were noncoms they sometimes were reduced to levels at Corporal,or even less. Yet the Oceanside police done NOTHING to remove the deviates from hanging around the main gate of Camp Pendleton. It was also the same at Long Beach. It was perfectly OK for deviates to attempt to accost sailors. There was a few of the DEVIATES who were severely beaten and required hospital ER attention. After that occurred then police were constantly in view……..along with the DEVIATES. Sailors were instructed that if anybody attempted to accost them that the sailor was supposed to wakklk up to one of the patrol cars and advise the police that a civilian was bothering him. The police often advised the sailor to get back on the base if he was offended. That is the primary reason why sailors started going on liberty in groups. They had legal witnesses this way. This activity radically reduced the attempts on young sailors. The Long Beach Naval Base was finally closed during SICK Willy’s administration, but the very large drydock remained and the area was turned over to the Chinese to use in servicing their container ships. Another criminal act by Sick Willy, against the American prople.

  13. coldwarvet2

As far back as I can remember, moral character was espoused by military leadership in most legitimate military forces. Having served in two separate military’s I can attest to that fact being a primary concern with the secondary attribute being “respect” on the part of the supporting public.
It somehow just didn’t compute that a faction, comprising such a tiny segment of the population, could generate such political power as to fundamentally change the core tenets of our military. There must be some other reasoning behind such a potentially drastic step.

“Mica’s committee is now looking into wasteful spending at as many as 77 other General Services Administration (GSA) conferences — all uncovered in documents obtained by Fox News.

The documents, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, show the extent to which GSA dumped money into questionable conferences, sometimes with little or no record of spending. They also show that while the GSA was hosting lavish affairs, they were also doling out bonuses to their party guest employees.

One of the more troubling conferences was held in 2010 in Crystal City, Va., where GSA employees within the Federal Acquisition Service spent hours drumming in what administrators billed as a “team-building” exercise.

But while lawmakers first uncovered that conference earlier this month, documents obtained exclusively by Fox News show the event was the setting for millions of dollars worth of bonus handouts.

According to the records, more than 3,700 employees received bonuses averaging about $1,000 apiece at the conference. The cost to taxpayers was $3.6 million — minus the cost of the drumsticks, and the consultant who headed up the exercise.

Practices like this have drawn the ire of government watchdogs.

“The private company that hands out bonuses and rewards far beyond its ability to pay is going to be out of business. In the government, it seems to matter less because so many people seem to qualify,” said Tom Schatz, of Citizens Against Government Waste.

Fox News’ FOIA request found several GSA conferences have no record of spending — no receipts and no way to account for the cost associated with travel and conference spending.

“It wouldn’t surprise taxpayers to learn that these kinds of omissions occur at every agency. The lack of accountability is so bad that it’s impossible to fire anyone,” Schatz said. “It takes a hot-tub scandal to get rid of people at these agencies.”

Firing more GSA employees may be exactly what Mica, chairman of the House transportation committee, has in mind when he opens a new round of hearings Wednesday on the lavish GSA conferences.”

Washington (CNN) – A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.

The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”

  17. coldwarvet2

I believe it was Rasmussen that had black support at 91%…This is still strange to me considering that there really is a conservative element within black society…and I have a hard time thinking that it is only 9%. Apart from that, the 91% is cause for concern when one considers the fact that bo has set the black community, as a whole, back 50 years. After this little 3 1/2 year stint/stunt, and in view of their atrocious behavior as a group otherwise, the unemployed 14% will only be able to find jobs in the public sector, if at all. Can’t they see that this man has only taken them back to the ghettos long term? 91%….=…..lemmings!…..

It somehow just didn’t compute that a faction, comprising such a tiny segment of the population, could generate such political power as to fundamentally change the core tenets of our military. There must be some other reasoning behind such a potentially drastic step.
When we observe the outcome, I believe the purpose becomes clearer. All of this has served to demoralize our military forces, and such an attack on morale can only have a negative effect as to cohesiveness, strength and resolve of our fighting men and women. I believe the real intention is to ultimately so weaken the armed forces that they will become increasingly unable to defend themselves or us. This is the work of subversive elements within our government, regardless of whether it is cloaked in “social experimentation” or not.

  20. coldwarvet2

    Hmmmmm…social experimentation….
What do we do with the transvestites?… that will be real interesting catching the bus out front for a 24hr pass……or…the cross dressers? What dress uniforms will they demand to be issued? Now, take the barracks for instance. Just long lines of upper and lower bunks… Can you imagine what that is going to be like after lights out? Imagine the chimp cages at the zoo. The fire guards are going to have to carry whips to keep them in line! Oops, almost forgot… the S&M’s…they will like the whips! Guess they won’t have to worry too much about the pedophyles though…or will they?(all those 18yr olds) yum!… Do they get their own latrines too?….and we mustn’t forget the flashers…what on earth are we going to do with them? You just never know when they’re going to show up…hope it’s not during a firefight!… I’m getting tired…

  21. I’ll just leave you with a parting mental image ….the 30 year, ready to retire, general, at post HQ, thinking the above thoughts as he prepares to retire for the night. This will more than likely be another sleepless night….chimp sounds from the barracks area…fade to black…………

Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz pulls off a historic victory!

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, “We could not be more proud of this historic tea party victory tonight against the Texas establishment. This is probably the most significant upset Texas has seen since Perry defeated Hightower in 1990, and it comes at the hands of the tea party.

“What we saw in Ted Cruz and this Senate race was threefold: we saw an unquestionably strong and bold tea party conservative in Cruz; we saw Dewhurst as the anointed Austin politician that was exactly what we have been working to rid Washington of; and finally we saw the passion in the Texas tea party activists that could set the stage for this historic victory.
The excitement is palpable tonight inside the Cruz victory party

“The false narrative continues to be written that the tea party is dead, and 2012 will not be like 2010. However, every month we see a strong example to the contrary. In May, Tea Party Express-endorsed Richard Mourdock beat 36-year incumbent Senator Dick Lugar. In June, Tea Party Express-supported Governor Scott Walker defeated a national union-led campaign to recall him. Now, in July, we have witnessed a monumental accomplishment with Ted Cruz securing the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in Texas.

On a serious, sad, personal note, my family experienced a tragedy that had its roots in the deviancy that was prevalent in the Armed Forces about twenty-five years ago. I had twin, second cousins, both handsome chaps. One enlisted in the Marines and one in the Army. When they both fulfilled their tours of duty and came home, the Army vet had fallen prey to the gay lifestyle. He tried to overcome it and out of frustration attempted suicide a couple of times.

Even in spite of therapy and counseling, he finally succeeded in taking his own life. It was a tragedy that rocked our entire family and friends. We all will never get over it completely. The entire issue became very personal and has remained so.

    “Obama’s Ultimate Cover-up”

“Obama biographer David Maraniss wrote an 1139-word article, “The Audacity of Doubt,” for The Washington Post on Sunday that purported to be a refutation of what some critics have been saying about the President. Maraniss focuses mostly on questions about Obama’s religion and place of birth and pretends to have the answers.

Having ignored the story of the decisive influence that Davis exercised over Obama in his growing up years, Maraniss now goes after other writers who have been investigating Obama in order to clear up some of the lingering mysteries about him. It is apparent that Maraniss is afraid of being proven wrong again. He wants people to think his 641 page book is the ultimate truth.

Maraniss says in his Post article on Sunday that he holds many Obama critics “in contempt for the way they disregard facts and common sense and undermine the role of serious history as they concoct conspiracy theories that portray the president as dangerous, alien and less than American.” …

Maraniss doesn’t name the Obama critics. But one of them is Jack Cashill, an “obsessed conspiratorialist,” in the words of Maraniss, for theorizing that Obama’s book Dreams from My Father was ghost written by Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Maraniss calls Ayers “the former radical.””

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Cordileone archbishop of San Francisco on Friday. Cordileone will formally take up that position on Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of San Francisco.

When he spoke in Washington, D.C., in May, Cordileone referenced a speech that Cardinal James Gibbons–who served as archbishop of Baltimore in the late 19th and early 20th centuries–gave in Rome in 1887.

Gibbons’ 1887 speech focused on the unique heritage of liberty enjoyed by all Americans, including Catholics.

The Catholic Church has been “forced to struggle for her existence wherever despotism has cast its dark shadow, like a plant shut out from the blessed light of heaven,” Gibbons said in that speech. “But in the genial atmosphere of liberty she blossoms like a rose.

“For myself,” Gibbons continued, “as a citizen of the United States, and without closing my eyes to our shortcomings as a nation, I say, with a deep sense of pride and gratitude, that I belong to a country where the civil government holds over us the aegis of its protection, without interfering with us in the legitimate exercise of our sublime mission as ministers of the Gospel of Christ.

“Our country has liberty without license, and authority without despotism,” this American cardinal told that European congregation 125 years ago.

After referencing these words of Cardinal Gibbons, Bishop Cordileone said he became concerned about the future of religious liberty in the United States after he got involved in the issue of same-sex marriage.

“My own experience: I sort of backed into this religious liberty debate by my involvement with her Siamese twin, the definition of marriage in the law,” he said.

“And I got swept up in that, not exclusively, but in large degree, because I was enlightened by Dr. [Robert] George [of Princeton Univerity] and other people of his kind, as to the erosion of the rights of religious institutions to serve the broader community in accord with their moral principles precisely because of this issue, as well the rights of individuals to have their freedom of conscience respected,” said Bishop Cordileone.

“When I saw what was happening and my eyes were opened, it made me fear that we could be starting to move in the direction of license and despotism,” the bishop said.

He then cited a number of examples of attacks on religious liberty in the United States, including a New Mexico photographer who was sued for declining to photograph a same-sex “commitment ceremony” and the numerous Catholic Charities around the country that have had to stop providing adoption services because states have declared it discriminatory for adoption services not to place a child with a same-sex couple.

Bishop Cordileone also specifically discussed the regulation that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has issued, which takes effect on Aug. 1, and which requires health-care plans, including those provided by Catholic business owners and institutions, to provide cost-free coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs. The Catholic bishops of the United States have unanimously declared this regulation an “unjust and illegal mandate” that violates the First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion by forcing Catholics—both employers and employees—to act against the teachings of the Catholic faith.

“I want to express profound gratitude and how encouraged I am by all of you who have stood by us Catholics in the midst of this Health and Human Services-mandate battle,” said Bishop Cordileone. “It is a great moment for all of us, and it is a great moment of encouragement for us leaders in the Catholic Church. We all rightly recognize that this is a question of the state intruding into the affairs of the church even to the point of defining for the church what constitutes their ministry. And we all recognize that if they get away with this–I’ll put it that way–that it will not stop there. It will just keep getting worse. We are all vulnerable.”

Bishop Cordileone went on to say that church leaders cannot “get political” but that the fight in defense of religious liberty and against the HHS mandate is not a political fight by a fight over first principles.

“We cannot get political in the sense of being partisan, not those of us who are church leaders at any rate,” he said. “Ultimately, it would compromise our role as the conscience of society and as that buffer we heard about earlier between the government and individual.

“Also, this is not really a political struggle, it is a struggle for first principles, principles that we should all be able to agree upon,” he said. “We would as faith communities compromise who we are called to be if we became tied to any political agenda or platform.”

“As we have heard repeated today, religious liberty is the first right in the Bill of Rights not just chronologically but logically,” Bishop Cordileone said.

“We are here today standing together because we love the United States of America and we want what is best for her,” he told the Ethics and Public Policy conference. “The United States of America has benefitted myself and I am sure all of you, and those people who immigrated to this land and found great opportunity. We are here today because we know if we do not stand together, our nation will fall apart.”

In February, after the Obama administration finalized the sterilization-contraception-abortifacient regulation, asked Minority Leader Pelosi, who is Catholic, if she was going to stand with her church in resisting it. Pelosi responded that she was going to stand with other Catholics in supporting the Obama administration against the church.

“First of all, I am going to stick with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this,” said Pelosi. “I think it was a very courageous decision that they made, and I support it.”

  27. This bears out something I wrote on “revolution” recently on a previous thread. It is the warp and woof of communist doctrine.

    Obama’s Marxism

In doing research for his just-released book The Communist Frank Marshall Davis: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mentor, Paul Kengor interviewed John Drew, a former friend of Obama during the Occidental years. John Drew states unequivocally that Obama at this time was a fervent Marxist-Leninist who looked towards, a literal proletariat revolution in the United States. (my added emphasis)

Having all of the LATRINES handy would be a real boon to anybody experiencing a really nasty dose of GI RUNS, which used to be pretty common, because people simply didn’t get their MESS GEAR free of the detergent used in the first dunk of the mess gear. At summer camp I saw guys with as much as a whole roll of TP stuffed in the big pockets of their fatigues, and even more stuffed into the pockets of the M-43 field jackets. Nothing quite like being on the rifle range while experiencing a case of RUNS.

  30. P.S….the reason Ted Cruz won is because Dr.. Paul and RAND Paul endorsed him early on as the Liberty/Constitution candidate! Way to go DOC! 🙂

It is sad when any we know choose a path that we and they do not fully understand. They do not understand what, and we do not understand why. Nevertheless, it does happen, and that is the hand we are dealt.
my satire of course is not aimed at an individual but rather to show the fallacy of this system we now have to embrace through no fault of our own, apart from the fact that, somehow, we, as a collective public, allowed this to happen.
This is what is known as hard satire, and well deserved, I think, of a system that would allow our young to be experimented upon by this deviant administration. Offense, of course, is intended, but not of those not directly involved in this extreme behavior.

  33. Bloomberg Analyst: Global Currency Reset Coming? (VIDEO)

Bloomberg Currency ResetHere’s a video that’s got the alternative media buzzing.
For years, conspiracy theorists and alternative news outlets have been saying that we’re at the end of the road. They say that the only way out of the financial mess the world has gotten itself into would be to do a global “currency reset.”
In the process, debt would be eliminated and, assuming you’ve known which currencies to invest in, you could stand to make quite a bit of money.
Of course, that story has been met with more than a few raised eyebrows from those in the mainstream media…until now.
The clip below, which aired on Bloomberg News on July 25, features one analyst who says that a currency reset could actually happen – sooner rather than later – starting with the Euro.
It’s really the only option left.
If you don’t know what this video is all about, then this post isn’t for you. If you “get it,” though, your new reality could be here sooner than you think.

I am sorry to read about your relatives. Suicide of military personell has grown to huge proportions, when compared with the rates of of the 1950s. It happened only occasionally in those days, and was usually attributed to heavy stress. In those days deviates were NOT tolerated. Usually after being discovered these people had one duty station after another until they received a Section 8 discharge. I apologise if my viewpoints upset you. I was meant to be informative. I tell it like it was ,and still is. I would imagine that suchan event in your family would be really traumatising

  40. Jack Cashill:

“Maraniss Gets Testy as New Obama Bio Tanks”
“A book filled with shoddy research?”
    Dakkumen (USA)

“This review is from: Barack Obama: The Story (Hardcover)
David Maraniss’s book ‘Barack Obama: The Story’ begins in the Introduction by stating that ‘Dreams from My Father’ should fall into the “realm of literature and memoir, not history and autobiography, and should not be read as rigorously factual account.”

If ‘Dreams from My Father’ can’t be read as a rigorous factual account, then how should it be read? As a fiction book? If ‘Dreams’ should be read as fiction, then why does Maraniss freely reference ‘Dreams’ and other Obama biographical books – all of which are based on ‘Dreams’ as a non-fiction book – such as ‘The Bridge’ by David Remnick, ‘A Singular Woman’ by Janny Scott, ‘The Other Barack’ by Sally Jacobs and ‘Obamaland’ by Ron Jacobs?

It quickly became clear, however, that Maraniss’s ‘Barack Obama: The Story’ also falls into this same “realm” – a fiction book passed off as non-fiction. A couple of other books which would then fall into this same “realm” are ‘Fugitive Days’ by Bill Ayers and ‘Death of Innocence’ by John and Patsy Ramsey.

Here are just a few of the many unanswered questions from Maraniss’s book:”

It looks like DC has finally figured out what the usurper is all about.

Question is, what part does the usurpers eligibility play into this judiciary committee investigation.

Obama is technically operating without Constitutional authority.
