What I am about to write about and explain is simple. It is very similar to governments taxing businesses. Doctors are businessmen as well as physicians.
When their cost of doing business rises, the costs are passed along to consumers, patients. It is that simple. The same applies to hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.

Doctors, just like any business person, must decide what service they will provide. They must weigh cost vs benefit and the current and potential risks they will take. Many areas of practice are too risky, especially in our litigious climate. This prevents many doctors from engaging in a type of practice or forces them to join larger groups.

This has been mostly downplayed or ignored by the mainstream media. News outlets like the NY Times have tap danced around the subject which is probably why some of my so called learned friends have been so ill informed. When George Bush brought up tort reform he was ridiculed. But Bush was right and he was not in bed with law firms and attorneys like Obama and the Democrats.

From the NY Times July 28, 2012.

“Doctor Shortage Likely to Worsen With Health Law”

“In the Inland Empire, an economically depressed region in Southern California, President Obama’s health care law is expected to extend insurance coverage to more than 300,000 people by 2014. But coverage will not necessarily translate into care: Local health experts doubt there will be enough doctors to meet the area’s needs. There are not enough now.

Other places around the country, including the Mississippi Delta, Detroit and suburban Phoenix, face similar problems. The Association of American Medical Colleges estimates that in 2015 the country will have 62,900 fewer doctors than needed. And that number will more than double by 2025, as the expansion of insurance coverage and the aging of baby boomers drive up demand for care. Even without the health care law, the shortfall of doctors in 2025 would still exceed 100,000.

Health experts, including many who support the law, say there is little that the government or the medical profession will be able to do to close the gap by 2014, when the law begins extending coverage to about 30 million Americans. It typically takes a decade to train a doctor.

“We have a shortage of every kind of doctor, except for plastic surgeons and dermatologists,” said Dr. G. Richard Olds, the dean of the new medical school at the University of California, Riverside, founded in part to address the region’s doctor shortage. “We’ll have a 5,000-physician shortage in 10 years, no matter what anybody does.”

Experts describe a doctor shortage as an “invisible problem.” Patients still get care, but the process is often slow and difficult. In Riverside, it has left residents driving long distances to doctors, languishing on waiting lists, overusing emergency rooms and even forgoing care.

“It results in delayed care and higher levels of acuity,” said Dustin Corcoran, the chief executive of the California Medical Association, which represents 35,000 physicians. People “access the health care system through the emergency department, rather than establishing a relationship with a primary care physician who might keep them from getting sicker.”

In the Inland Empire, encompassing the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino, the shortage of doctors is already severe. The population of Riverside County swelled42 percent in the 2000s, gaining more than 644,000 people. It has continued to grow despite the collapse of one of the country’s biggest property bubbles and a jobless rate of 11.8 percent in the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro area.

But the growth in the number of physicians has lagged, in no small part because the area has trouble attracting doctors, who might make more money and prefer living in nearby Orange County or Los Angeles.”
“The pool of doctors has not kept pace, and will not, health experts said. Medical school enrollment is increasing, but not as fast as the population. The number of training positions for medical school graduates is lagging. Younger doctors are on average working fewer hours than their predecessors. And about a third of the country’s doctors are 55 or older, and nearing retirement.

Physician compensation is also an issue. The proportion of medical students choosing to enter primary care has declined in the past 15 years, as average earnings for primary care doctors and specialists, like orthopedic surgeons and radiologists, have diverged. A study by the Medical Group Management Association found that in 2010, primary care doctors made about $200,000 a year. Specialists often made twice as much.”

The Times did not mention the cost of malpractice insurance or tort reform and blamed the problem on the aging baby boomers and alleged increased coverage from Obamacare.

From Forbes May 5, 2008.

“Reasons Not To Become A Doctor”

“The American Medical Association recognizes there are shortages in certain geographic areas and in certain specialties. Part of that is due to the aging population and a stagnant number of medical-school applicants.

But there are other significant reasons. They include the increasing costs of medical malpractice coverage, higher practice costs, lower insurance reimbursement rates and insurance-company restrictions resulting in less autonomy over how patients are cared for.”
“Reasons Not To Become A Doctor”

“But for potential physicians, there is a future of looming medical-school debt, which is higher than ever. Students who graduate from a public medical school have a median debt of $100,000; private-school students graduate with a median debt of $135,000, according to a 2003 study by the Association of American Medical Colleges. Compare that with 1984, when median debt for public-school graduates was $22,000 and private-school students was $27,000.

Monthly payment on a debt of $150,000 at the end of residency at an interest rate of 2.8% is $1,761, according to the study.

The amount of time it takes to pay off debt depends on the specialty. The average physician’s net income, adjusted for inflation, declined 7% between 1995 and 2003, according to the Center for Studying Health System Change. In order to enter the most lucrative specialties, like radiology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology and dermatology, doctors must continue with their training into their 30s. That means they can’t start chipping away at their debt–let alone make money–until a time by which their counterparts in law or business are usually prospering.

Meanwhile, getting sued by a patient is a major concern. Of course, doctors who make fatal mistakes and who are unqualified should be held responsible. But there’s evidence that the bulk of lawsuits brought are frivolous. Of all malpractice lawsuits brought to jury trial in 2004, the defendant won 91% of the time. Only 6% of all lawsuits go to trial; those that aren’t thrown out are settled. Only 27% of all claims made against doctors result in money awarded to the plaintiff, according to Smarr, president of the trade association for medical malpractice companies.

Regardless, doctors need to defend themselves against the possibility of damages–and that’s an extremely expensive proposition. It takes about four-and-a-half years from the start of a lawsuit to the end, and the average cost to the defense in legal fees was $94,284 in 2004, according to the American Medical Association.

Many states are trying to establish laws to protect doctors from baseless suits. Texas went from the state with the most lawsuits filed to the only state that wrote tort reform into its constitution after its citizens voted it into law. Since tort reform was enacted in 2004, the yearly premium doctors pay in Texas for malpractice insurance has dropped by 40%. Now, the most plaintiffs can recoup for emotional damages is $250,000 from doctors and $500,000 from hospitals. Most interestingly, the number of claims filed against doctors has dropped by about half.”

From the Concord Monitor March 13, 2008.

“Cost of malpractice insurance forcing doctors to leave high-risk specialties

Lawyers benefit from huge damage awards”

“I am an emergency physician. I care for about 5,000 patients a year. I have been practicing for 12 years and thus have cared for roughly 60,000 patients.

I receive deep satisfaction from my job and the privilege of the “laying on of hands” as the physician-patient relationship is called in medical school. Most of the time, I rely on the good graces and expertise of the primary care physicians, surgeons and many other specialists to help take care of the people who come to me seeking help. However, recent trends suggest that our hospitals’ ability to deliver that care with the help of appropriate specialists is eroding.

A great deal of this quiet but steadily growing crisis is caused by the direct and indirect costs of medical malpractice. The article about the malpractice suit involving Dr. Eric Leefmans (“Man wins $1.75 million suit against area doctor,” Sunday Monitor, March 9) demands a response from the medical community.”

“In New Hampshire, many physicians are leaving as malpractice insurance costs soar. Specialty physicians have experienced a 50 percent increase in premiums from five years ago. The average premium is now close to $100,000 for obstetricians and neurosurgeons.

Soaring insurance costs

Concord and Manchester have seen a significant decrease in subspecialty coverage in the past five years, including neurosurgical and oral surgery coverage for call. Several small hospitals in the state practice without an anesthesiologist. Only one obstetrician remains to deliver babies in the northern part of the state. Locally, many subspecialty groups have had significant challenges recruiting new physicians to practice in this area. General surgery, one of the most coveted residencies just 10 years ago, now struggles to fill residency positions. Several recent studies and articles predict a significant and increasing gap between the demand and availability of physicians of all types.”
“Our medical system is going through significant difficulties, including increasing health insurance costs, a growing uninsured population, rising medical costs and loss of specialists and primary care physicians. However, the cost of malpractice contributes to those problems – while making less money available to care for the uninsured. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has estimated medical liability costs add $60 billion to $108 billion to the cost of health care each year. Interestingly, the estimated annual cost of covering all of the uninsured patients in the United States is $100 billion.”

Why was tort reform not included in Obamacare?

From the NY Times March 23, 2000.

“To trial lawyers, especially those involved in the tobacco litigation, Mr. Bush has become their worst nightmare. He has made attacks on lawyers a campaign centerpiece, pointing with pride to his record in Texas of curbing civil litigation, capping legal fees and limiting jury awards.”

“To that end, while trial lawyers have long been heavy Democratic Party donors, the prospect of a Bush candidacy, along with the possibility that like-minded Republicans would retain control of Congress, has ratcheted up the stakes, and the donations.”

Don’t be fooled by the false logic arguments, Orwellian wordsmithing and smooth talking devil attorneys. I have spoken to many physicians over the years and they all echoed the statements of the doctor above.

Oh, and did I mention John Edwards?

  1. Our family knows what it is like to practice in the Mississippi Delta. We tried to make a living there from 1983 until we left in 1989 because malpractice went up to ridiculous amounts for a Family Practitioner to deliver Medicaid babies. My sister is married to a nephrologist and my husband’s sister was in family practice, but both recently retired because of all the crap coming down. My husband is now practicing in North Carolina, and he will continue to do so but he is working harder than he ever has. This so-called plan of Obama’s will NOT work!

  4. Obama loves to boast about his African roots, but as far as I can see, he has done nothing to improve the poor values of many African American youths. This weekend two African American teens beat a man in Maryland to death with a shovel, shot people dead in Chicago, and formed gangs to rob folks all over the country. Many African American teens still don’t think it is cool to go to school when education is the main thing that determines success, and they have children way too early in life and don’t take care of them. They would rather call these comments racist than face the truth. Obama should be working on the problem of African American youth and their parents rather than playing golf. That does not mean giving them money, but teaching them studying and parenting skills. It is another one of his great failures.

  5. “A careful consideration of the evidence convinces me that the Y-DNA evidence of African origin is indisputable,” said Elizabeth Shown Mills in a statement, “and the surviving paper trail points solely to John Punch as the logical candidate.”

    —————–

The logical candidate? Meaning this is another made up story. They don’t have exact proof. They have fuzzy paperwork just like all the other fuzzy paperwork that surrounds Obama.

From your previous post concerning the administration upping the arming ante…
There has been a lot of political posturing with this administration. They are aware that a gun grab would put them squarely at odds with the constitution. They are not sure , however , to what lengths the armed citizens of this country will go to protect that right. The constitution is essentially a contract. Within that contract are certain guarantees between the citizens and the government that have been written down. The second amendment is a rather unique guarantee because it addresses the problem of an over-reaching government, especially with regard to the executive. It is also unique in that it puts some teeth into, and allows for the enforcement of, the contract…by force of arms if need be. This administration is not stupid. They realize that if they were to attempt an unprovoked attack on the populace, that the citizenry is then within it’s rights to use whatever force is necessary to defend itself and secure those rights to which they are entitled…
They also know that this act alone (a gun grab) will likely be the trigger that will unleash the full wrath of an already simmering public. I use the term posturing because riot gear and .40 cal ammo is not even close to what would be necessary to defend against an armed rebellion…and they know it.

    Hey All,

As of 4am Monday morning July 30, 2012, I have been smoke free for one week.

I have a long way to go, but everyday is one more day I can check off.

I was going to wait for a month to let you all know, but after 34 years of smoking, going one week is an accomplishment I can be proud of. (by the way, I’m STILL smoke free………….so far)

I know I’m usually off topic, but has anyone seen this?

    http://www.infowars.com/police-brutality-worse-than-rodney-king/

I know this happened in 2010, but why is it just now coming out?

37 minute video, but I watched the whole thing and am appalled.

Because the police was trying to stop the wrong vehicle from a hit and run accident.

The guy should have pulled over, no doubt, but what the police did to this poor man is ABUSE, and I don’t use that word often.

    Hey All,

I’d also like to comment on an article that someone posted on the last thread about the Colorado shooter being “kidnapped” drugged and left at the scene to take the fall for two men who actually committed the crime.

I read the article and watched the videos associated with the article.

I find it a little far fetched, however, I’m NOT dismissing this out of hand.

A couple of things that would bolster or prove this theory wrong are:

The man who CNN is interviewing never said the man who came in, took a phone call and “propped” open the exit door had orange hair. This would be critical in my view.

I have also heard folks say that the man LEFT the theater and left the door propped open, and was gone for a period of time.

IF there were three people involved, I would think that the camera located on the corner of the building would have filmed them.

I also have to admit that I haven’t read many articles on the shooting, but for “banks” to kidnap and manipulate the son to keep his father quiet seems a little far fetched.

Besides, the kid has already been charged with the crimes, so how would the “blackmail” angle make sense?

    Just my view.

    Hey All,

ON topic, but my view of TARP reform has always been LOSER PAYS.

I know that’s pretty simple, but to me this would stop MOST of the lawsuits brought by people simply trying to get money out of insurance companies, and would allow these companies to defend themselves more freely in court.

It’s really not the lawsuits that cost the insurance companies, but rather the THREAT of lawsuits, and the insurance company’s “settling” before these suits go to court which cost so much.

The loser pays route would allow these “settlements” to be settled in a court of law.

Just look at the ads on TV where “If you have lung cancer (hip replacement, and on and on), or KNOW someone who had then you are entitled to such and such”.

    Again, just my opinion.

    Hey All,

And as far as the DoJ lying to Congress or in a court of law, I’m sorry, but I’m not surprised, as a matter of FACT, it’s par for the course for this Administration.

Just look at how many times they have been found out on Fast and Furious.

But yet NOTHING is done, the press doesn’t ask questions every day of Obama about Holder and the CRIMINALS in the DoJ, and life goes on.

The REPUBLICANS are in on it also, our Government is so “in your face” it’s time to stand up.

I just wish either our military brass would take over, or a State would secede, and be VERY up front about WHY they are seceding, with point by point examples of HOW the Federal Government has overstepped their authority.

I believe this would cause a domino effect, and many other states would follow suit.

    The Constitution ALLOWS for it.

I wish Indiana would lead the way, but it won’t.

    IB
With regard to your previous statement concerning the military…
Don’t hold your breath waiting on them…they will only move if they are put in a place, by we the people, where they will have to make a choice as to whether they are with us…or with the enemy. Other than that, there are carreers on the line, so it will take an actual act by we the people to actually light the fuse for military intervention. In any case, I really wouldn’t count on them too much. Part of the reason being that we the people are essentially a separate (but legal) entity at the time hostilities break out.

  12. Interested Bystander,
Congratulations! You will be better off physically and financially. Good luck! (:

  13. IB………….
Good for you! I stopped smoking in 1972. I simply laid them up on a shelf in the garage, and forgot all about them. Just one of the easiest things I have ever done. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to stop smoking.

It will definitely be interesting, to say the very least, should hostilities break out. My gut tells me there will be a lot of side picking.
In our first civil war, the military was split along territoirial and political lines. There was posturing then too, but when the gauntlet was thrown down, americans on both sides did commit. It’s just not a good idea to call an American’s bluff….unless you’re sure you can win….and you won’t win this one with night sticks and riot pads. It will be ugly…which is exactly what the 2nd Amendment is about…and in case the supreme court can’t figure it out on their own.

  17. Coldwarvet2………..
In our great Civil War there was really quite a few FAMILIES that were torn completely apart by one menber of the family having different convictions than the rest of the family. Many of these families were influential people, and otherwise politically oriented, before the war,but after the war began they found their place, and done whatever they could to help their chosen side. Many died because of their political orientation. I don’t think that I would refer to these people as political renegades. Rather I would look upon these people as unfortunate people caught in the middle of political strife.

  18. Does anybody wonder why Dems like MO Gov. Jay Nixon want to veto voter ID laws? – – –

While NAACP President Benjamin Jealous lashed out at new state laws requiring photo ID for voting, an NAACP executive sits in prison, sentenced for carrying out a massive voter fraud scheme.

In a story ignored by the national media, in April a Tunica County, Miss., jury convicted NAACP official Lessadolla Sowers on 10 counts of fraudulently casting absentee ballots. Sowers is identified on an NAACP website as a member of the Tunica County NAACP Executive Committee.

Sowers received a five-year prison term for each of the 10 counts, but Circuit Court Judge Charles Webster permitted Sowers to serve those terms concurrently, according to the Tunica Times, the only media outlet to cover the sentencing.

“This crime cuts against the fabric of our free society,” Judge Webster said.

Sowers was found guilty of voting in the names of Carrie Collins, Walter Howard, Sheena Shelton, Alberta Pickett, Draper Cotton and Eddie Davis. She was also convicted of voting in the names of four dead persons: James L. Young, Dora Price, Dorothy Harris, and David Ross.

In the trial, forensic scientist Bo Scales testified that Sowers’s DNA was found on the inner seals of five envelopes containing absentee ballots.

The poll of 625 registered Missouri voters suggests a key source of McCaskill’s problems is her support of President Barack Obama.

Good Morning to everyone here at CW

Thanks to everyone for the congrats.

I made a resolution at a friends house at a New Years party that I as going to TRY to be smoke free by the end of the year.

Not only that, but the Chantix is” FREE” on my health care plan, and when I went for my annual checkup on July 13 (a Friday by the way), I asked the Doctor to write me for the drug.

Last Monday I got off at 4:00am, and lit one up. I haven’t had one since.

Tuesday afternoon when I woke up, I was really craving a smoke and one part of me said that it had been 36 hours, go ahead and reward yourself, and another part of me said NO, if you smoke one now, you’ll want another in a couple hours, and you’ll give in then also.

I resisted, and I believe that this was a breaking point. I believe that if I would have “stumbled”, I’d be smoking now, but I didn’t, I cleared the hurdle.

Not only that, but Monday morning the best man at my wedding (29 years ago), my best friend, and my “brother” passed away at 11am, then Tuesday afternoon I was craving so bad, and Tuesday evening (Weds monring), I had an “event” at work with a co worker and we had words, and I STILL didn’t give in.

I believe in my mind that I have cleared the worst of it.

I golf with the man who’s house I made my resolution, and this weekend he told me that he thought I was just “talking”, and that he is SO proud of me, and that there will be further hurdles to clear. He quit 5 years ago, also using Chantix. He said that once I stop the Chantix, the craving will come back. It’s AL in my will though, and this is what I want to do for MYSELF.

I have been dreaming, and remembering them which is unusual, and I feel some anxiety like I need to be doing something, but the desire for cigarettes isn’t there, and I know for health and financial reasons, this is the best decision for me to make.

I’m putting my 57 dollars in a bank, and after 6 months, I’m going to reward myself with the funds. Not sure what yet (maybe new golf clubs, or maybe a bowling ball, or maybe BOTH, or maybe I’ll take the wife to the casino and get rich) what to spend my windfall on, but I’ll think of something.

    I’m going to make it!!!

    Thanks again.

Very Good IB……I watched my father die of emphysema….NOT FUN….he began smoking at 8 years of age and stopped cold turkey at 50 when the doctor told him he would be gone in less than 5 years if he continued with the cigs…….there are seven of us kids and NOT one of us smoke after witnessing his struggles to stop and when he did it was already past time…..at 50 he was on an oxygen machine but made it for another 15 years without smoking again…..I will keep you in my prayers for your continued success! 🙂

“Rebuttal by CDR Kerchner (Ret) (originally aired in August 2009) but appropriate now to the recent, silly and naive proffered defense/excuse for doing nothing about Obama’s crimes cited by Congressman Steve King. Rep King, the two newspaper announcements in the HI newspapers prove nothing about where Obama was born. They do not. Registering a birth in HI does not prove the child was born in HI. And newspaper ads were generated when a birth was registered, even an alleged at home birth with no independent witnesses. HI’s very lax laws in 1961 allowed foreign born children of mother’s with HI citizenship to register their child as born in HI. Garbage in equals garbage out in the extremely lax HI birth registration laws and systems. HI was well known in Asia as an open border to the U.S. via the paper loop holes offered by HI regarding birth registration.”

*After the first postings of the freshly discovered obama birth announcements, many noticed that the appearance of the obama announcements changed considerably over a short period of time. Much like the COLB did. The examples of this are in the original post,

*The microfilm box in the Library Of Congress, Star Bulletin Aug 1-15, 1961, had the original reference numbers scribbled out. If you were to look closely, you’d notice that it appears there was an attempt made to alter the original numbers…like when you got a D on a report card and tried to change it to a B. At some point the altered numbers were scribbled over and rewritten in black ink. Out of a total of roughly two dozen film boxes that I handled this was the only box that was so altered.”

IB – Congratulations. I quit smoking on my 40th birthday 38 years ago and have never looked back. I made up a slogan and a statement to get through the early stages. The slogan was this – “I started to smoke because I thought it was SMART, but I quit smoking because I KNEW it was smart!!”
My statement was this – “Life is a gift from God and just as you would do if a friend lent you his car to use in an emergency, would you not check the oil and air in the tires, drive safely and keep a watchful eye out for any dangerous situations?”

Francis Cardinal George, OMI: Reflections on ‘Chicago values’

    By Francis Cardinal George, OMI
    7/31/2012
    Catholic Chicago Blog (www.archchicago.org/)

Was Jesus a bigot? Could Jesus be accepted as a Chicagoan?

Surely there must be a way to properly respect people who are gay or lesbian without using civil law to undermine the nature of marriage. Surely we can find a way not to play off newly invented individual rights to “marriage” against constitutionally protected freedom of religious belief and religious practice. The State’s attempting to redefine marriage has become a defining moment not for marriage, which is what it is, but for our increasingly fragile “civil union” as citizens.

CHICAGO, ILL (Catholic Chicago Blog) – Recent comments by those who administer our city seem to assume that the city government can decide for everyone what are the “values” that must be held by citizens of Chicago. I was born and raised here, and my understanding of being a Chicagoan never included submitting my value system to the government for approval. …

I heard on Sean Hannity radio show today, that McCaskil is in deep trouble in her bid to get re-elected, please tell me she is going to lose.
She is one of the original traitors in the usurpers fraudulent election scheme.
    ==========================
    I hope she loses.
The poll of 625 registered Missouri voters suggests a key source of McCaskill’s problems is her support of President Barack Obama.

The poll indicates that three of the Republicans running in the primaries…..
Brunner beating her 52-41 percent in a hypothetical matchup.
    Steelman beating her 49-41 percent.
Akin would edge McCaskill 49-44 percent
if the general election were held today.

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/rationing-begins-states-limiting-drug-prescriptions-medicaid-patients

Speaking on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal on Monday, Phil Galewitz, staff writer for Kaiser Health News, said the move “only hurts a limited number of patients.”

“Drugs make up a fair amount of costs for Medicaid. A lot of states have said a lot of drugs are available in generics where they cost less, so they see this sort of another move to push patients to take generics instead of brand,” Galewitz said.
    ………………….

Galewitz said the move also puts doctors and patients in a “difficult position.”

“Some doctors I talked to would work with patients with asthma and diabetes, and sometimes it’s tricky to get the right drugs and the right dosage to figure out how to control some of this disease, and just when they get it right, now the state is telling them that, ‘Hey, you’re not going to get all this coverage. You may have to switch to a generic or find another way,’” he said.

  47. Congressman Steve King, and I am sure many other Reps, now know about the usurpers lack of credentials, and eligibility. Steve King says there is nothing going to happen to remove the usurper between now, and November.

If the Presidency is being usurped, the luxury of waiting until after the next election to do anything about it is not an option.

Maybe these congressmen need to write a few letters to the usurper, to remind him of his lack of Constitutional authority do do anything except vacate the premises.

    NEWS FLASH: Bombshell appointment
Bishop Cordileone to head archdiocese of San Francisco

    http://cal-catholic.com/wordpress/2012/07/27/news-flash-bombshell-appointment/

For the better part of the last four months, the machinery of the archdiocese that — at least, under normal circumstances — many US bishops consider the nation’s most daunting assignment has quietly prepared its 450,000 members for a transition at the top. Yet while the pontiff’s selection of the ninth archbishop of San Francisco had almost universally been expected by late June, an apparent delay was explained by credible reports of a back room Roman “fight” over the state and direction of the famously progressive local church.

Now, finally, the dust has cleared… and even for a city well-accustomed to seismic activity, the ecclesial Richter Scale both by the Bay and well beyond is about to record a right whopper…. After a half-century of occupants accused by conservatives of soft-pedaling church teaching in favor of a more conciliatory approach toward constituencies ranging from gays and lesbians to Nancy Pelosi — a group of prelates among which the recently-retired chief guardian of church doctrine, Cardinal William Levada, was not exempt from sometimes stinging criticism — the move delivers the long-desired “Holy Grail” of the American Catholic Right firmly into the faction’s hands, in the form of a prelate already known widely both for his forcefulness and a stringent doctrinal cred almost unequaled among his confreres on the national bench.

For liberal Catholics, meanwhile, the appointment is likely to be received as something akin to the city’s Great Earthquake of 1906, or even more apocalyptic events. In a nutshell, an appointment of this dramatic, potentially explosive nature is enough to make even last year’s blockbuster move in the States — likewise Rome’s final US move of the annual work-cycle — seem almost mild by comparison.

  50. Italian Police Raid Barclays Over
    Rate-Fixing
Police take documents from Barclays in Milan, as they investigate possible rate-fixing of the euro version of Libor.
    11:20am UK, Tuesday 31 July 2012

Italian police have taken documents from a Barclays office in Milan as part of a probe into possible Euribor rate manipulation, according to Reuters.
It said the raid occurred as regulators investigated fixing fears of the eurozone equivalent of the scandal-hit, London-based Libor inter-bank lending rate.
The search was ordered by prosecutors in the southern city of Trani, who have opened a criminal probe into the possible manipulation of the Euribor rate.
The move comes after complaints were filed by two consumer groups, Adusbef and Federconsumatori.
Two judicial sources also confirmed the raid occurred last week, according to Reuters.
Documents, computer material and emails were seized, the consumer groups said in a joint statement.
They said the Milan raid occurred “with the aim of looking for evidence that Barclays also manipulated Euribor, as it did with Libor, with a negative impact on mortgage rates paid by Italians”.
Barclays was forced to pay a total of £290m in fines to UK and US regulators after it admitted fixing its Libor rate for commercial advantage.
The scandal forced the resignation of chairman Marcus Agius, chief executive Bob Diamond and chief operating officer Jerry del Missier.
All three men were later quizzed by MPs on the Treasury Select Committee.
The Libor scandal has sent shock waves through global banking, and embroiled both US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Bank of England governor Sir Mervyn King in the controversy.

◄$$$ F.O.F.O.A. INTERVIEW IS REVEALING. THE WELL KNOWN FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF ANOTHER PERMITTED A RARE INTERVIEW. HE INDIRECTLY ANTICIPATES TWO HIGHLY DISRUPTIVE EVENTS TO OCCUR WHICH WILL CAUSE THE USDOLLAR TO LOSE ITS STANDING. HE POINTS TO PRICE INFLATION AND A GOLD MARKET FAILURE TO DELIVER. THE RESULT WILL BE AN EXTREME MONETARY EVENT THAT USHERS IN GREAT CONFUSION. $$$

“It is impossible to predict the exact pin that will pop the [USDollar confidence] bubble in a world full of pins, but I have an idea that it will be one of two things. I think the two most likely proximate triggers to a catastrophic loss of confidence are a major failure in the London gold market, or the US government’s response to an unexpected budget crisis due to consumer price inflation. Most people who expect a catastrophic loss of confidence in the dollar seem to think it will begin in the financial markets, like a stock market crash or a Treasury auction failure or something like that. But I think it is more likely to come from where, as I like to say, the rubber meets the road. And here I am talking about what connects the monetary world to the physical world: prices. I think these worlds are connected in two ways. The first is the general price level of goods and services and the second is the price of gold. If one of these two connections is broken by a failure to deliver the real world items at the financial system prices, then we suddenly have a real problem with the monetary side. So I think it will be a relatively quick and catastrophic event, but maybe not as dramatic as a major stock market crash. It will be confusing to most of the pundits as to what it really means, so it will take a little while for reality to sink in.”

◄$$$ GIVEN THAT THE BREAKDOWN IS IN A STRONG MIDDLE GEAR, NUMEROUS MESSAGES HAVE COME FROM MY BEST SOURCE OF INFORMATION. HE HAS STRONG TIES TO THE GOLD MARKET AND THE EUROPEAN BANKING WORLD. HIS OPINIONS ARE MANY AND VERY ENLIGHTENING. NOT ONE OF HIS INSIGHTS ON MAJOR EVENTS HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE ERRANT IN FOUR YEARS. IN 2010 HE EXPECTED THE BREAKDOWN TO COME AND TO GATHER GREAT SPEED, BUT NOT FOR A COUPLE YEARS. THAT IS NOW. HE MENTIONED THAT IN MAY, A GREAT WRENCH HAD BEEN TOSSED INTO THE JPMORGAN MACHINERY THAT WOULD LEAD TO A COLLAPSE OF THE USTBOND AND ITS DERIVATIVE BUTTRESS. THE EVENTS CONTINUE. HERE ARE SOME KEY ITEMS TO HIS MESSAGES, ORGANIZED BY THEME, HIS THOUGHTS, HIS WORDS, MINOR EDITS PLACED TO FLOW WELL. $$$

A Paradigm Shift is in progress that defies perception in established ways. The bankers who wrecked the system by opposing the free markets falsely thought they would always be in control. Wrong! The bank rescues to date are like a big bucket to scoop water out of the Titanic flooded lower chambers, a futile exercise. The events to date have ripped out the entire bottom hull from the financial market, keeping the analog. The only lifeboats have labels that indicate hard assets, the self-re-pricing assets such as precious metal, valuable commodities, agro/forestry/fishery and essential commercial real estate, all located in non over-regulated and confiscatory jurisdictions in the West. The Hong Kong territory is one of the safest places to store your assets. A total collapse is urgently needed, to remove from power the few who rig the system for their advantage. The implosion is already happening but not yet seen by the general public. An event driven scenario is in progress, but it is anyone’s guess what will trigger the final outcome. The infighting at the round table at the very top already draws blood. Precious metal and agricultural assets are key to survival.

Hardly any investment grade Gold remains available in larger quantities. Good quantities are left at Scotiabank in Toronto, which is a sitting duck that can be drained only during the final act. Persian Gold is being reprocessed in very large quantities in Turkey, given new markings, then sold to major buyers in Asia and the Middle East. The Swiss depositories are mostly cleaned out except for segregated vaults where governments are holding substantial quantities. However, no one trusts the Swiss banks any longer and those depositories will soon be cleaned out. In just 20 to 25 years, the Swiss have lost their historical and coveted integrity. Depending on the situation of the seller, premiums are being paid but some closings are done at spot prices. The physical metal will survive and rule royally, whereas all paper will decay and blow away. We are indeed entering a golden age.

The Euro currency is dead and so is the USDollar. The Euro is running on fumes, while the USDollar enjoys a erection in the morgue. We are at the end of an era, just like when the Iron Curtain fell with an event of smaller scale. The European deal making is absurd theater, where all that ever comes from Brussels summits is well fed and well liquored participants coming out of luxury dining rooms. We shall see precious metal prices in today’s US$ terms go through the roof not before long. Silver will rise to $500 per oz and Gold to $10,000 per oz. These could be conservative projections. The means to control the precious metals prices is gradually disappearing with their forfeited metal. A critical point will be soon reached where the cartel can no longer control the price. The stage they stand on will not tilt, but rather collapse from a lost foundation used to manipulate prices. On the other hand, crude oil could be on its way to $50 per barrel. The big oil producers are already sweating blood and ****ting bricks. As mentioned previously, Germany, Holland, Finland, and Austria are the nations calling the shots in a well choreographed sequence whose outcome was agreed upon in April 2010. The events are happening as planned.

My line of query was directed at the Evil Camp to unleash a new chapter nightmare, not to permit white light, fresh breeze, and cleanup to come so neatly. My suspicion is that the Boyz will attempt to destroy much of the world, rather than turn over control and face criminal prosecution, or endure vanishing acts by the new captains. My expectation is that the bankers will turn on each other, the survival of a few stronger or more connected or more involved could likely depend upon eating and devouring some weaker rivals and then putting blame on them in the aftermath.

He responded. These banksters are very naïve, easily being pushed onto their own sword. They have been busy shoveling themselves as excrement. The strategy of divide and conquer always succeeds. The real powerful people are going to play Cowboys & Indians with the United States next, where the entire US will act as the Indian victims this time. It will not be funny at all, this global counter-attack to bring an end to financial tyranny. Some executives from the powerful banks are running for the exit to cut deals before all comes crashing down. The lid on corruption has blown off, finally visible. The system has already cratered big time, having been broken over two years ago. The news came that ex-CEO Bob Diamond from Barclays would forego up to $31 million in deferred bonuses. He predicted the blocked bonus four days before it became news. He believes Diamond bought some time and probably will not go to prison in Europe. But as a US citizen and passport holder, he will likely be prosecuted by the US authorities. He might see jail time, unless he dies from an accident in order to protect his family. Plenty of precedent there.

The shock waves only now are reaching the surface, after much effort to contain the damage. The old system is broken beyond repair but the new system has not been launched yet. The old system must first be wrecked to the ground in totality, in order to assure no migration of old Boyz from the old system to the new system. They must be isolated and dealt with. The sequence of events appears to be a slow motion implosion, but the process is actually unfolding with lightning speed. Most people cannot comprehend what is happening, as they tend to come to the wrong conclusions from patterned thinking that no longer is relevant. The Jackass belief is that deeply rooted wrong-footed assumptions interfere with the mental processing of events, like beliefs that my government is basically good, our leaders have our interests in mind and strive to keep us safe, the military protects our nation, and respect for private assets is a constant. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

The damage done to the customers in the entire banking community from this market rigging scheme goes in to the $trillions. Little Metzler Bank of Germany is putting a telephone pole up Deutsche Bank’s rectum in the LIBOR fraud, decorated with razor wire. Expect to see the big banks taken down now one after the other. The D-Bank CEO Ackerman has already been dismissed. American banker CEOs are next. The blowback from this scam is so big that the damages could be incalculable. In fact, the resolution could force a global war, which cannot be ruled out any longer. When one pillar at a time is removed from big buildings, an event drive scenario is triggered. The buildings are all connected by vast cable systems.

A religious element is laced within the European crisis. The Northerners (Germans, Dutch, and Finns) have strong resolve, marching in lockstep. These Northerners are all Protestants whereas the Club Med legion are all Catholics. The EU leaders are Catholics, some associated with secret societies and pedophile rituals. Many century old and deep rooted resentments and animosities underneath that are boiling with big bubbles to the surface during the ongoing crisis. If sufficiently frustrated, a internal war in Europe could occur, since the players are bellicose people. The Northerners are freedom loving, strong willed people and fierce warriors. Recall the Battle of Varus in northern Germany where a few legions of the Roman Army were annihilated (SEE LINK).

The key to the next chapter is a growing alliance between Russia and Germany. All pipelines coming from Russia end in Germany. The largest roll-on & roll-off rail facility is in the port of Finofort in Germany on the Baltic Sea. The North Stream pipeline is going from Russia, across the bottom of the Baltic Sea, all the way to Germany, where it terminates at Lublin. The rail network from China passes through Russia and on to Germany. An entire network of rail systems is being fixed for heavy duty rail transport. Test runs have been successfully concluded. Chinese and Russian companies have been buying up the majority of former East German airfields, where heavy lift cargo planes come in every day to deliver good to large scale industrial facilities, destined for making finish products and distribution in the EU. An important point is that Germany obtains from Russia its raw materials including metals and energy. It is not the Middle East, and therefore the strategic thinking is not skewed. The open trade is brisk. The German foreign policy is not written by a small nation on the Southern Mediterranean.

In order that nobody believes this intriguing man to be perfect, he has had only one error in his view of unfolding events. A great many events have occurred, with clear forewarning by him and his expansive team, events unfolding much as he expected. Events where decisions were made have been shared, which shine a light on the path of events to come. In the summer of 2009, he expected an imminent powerful upward move in the price of Gold & Silver during the yearend holiday season. Instead, it occurred one year later, exactly in magnitude as described but with a time lag. A very forgivable faux pas by a brilliant, connected, and generous man. We lock horns on certain matters, but they are minor and pertain more to style. He has my greatest respect and gratitude. His shared views have helped hundreds of Hat Trick Letter readers to comprehend the unfolding events with less confusion harbored. He has helped many to enjoy financial reward. The future reward will be an order of magnitude larger.

  54. Over these past few years I (and Old Salt) have talked about Obama’s relationship with Rashid Khalili and that famous farewell dinner party that Obama attended. The LA Times reported on the story but refused to release a video they had of the event. It was apparently a very pro PLO, antisemitic event at which Obama gave a toast to his former professor, Khalidi.

Now Brietbart.com is offering a $50k reward for anyone to release that tape.

With the Middle East about to explode, it is imperative that the media put aside their liberal bias and expose whatever there is on that video. It is vital to our National security to finally vet this pro palestinian usurper that sits in our White House. I pray that whoever has access to that tape has the moral integrity to release it.

During a series of comments yesterday with Oldsalt79, a thought occurred to me that to date has not been covered anywhere that I have seen. We were discussing the gay rights issue and I neglected to mention that the gay rights issue is NOT about sex. It is about power…political power. It is about constitutional protections….which they, and their counterparts, the womens movement, the black movement, the hispanic movement, etc…ad nauseum, already have, and have had for a long time now. The political power I refer to here is “extra rights” or “extra legal” rights and protections. Apart from the obvious constitutional problems created with equal protection, there is a far more sinister agenda afoot which a lot of us have missed.
Yesterday, Oldsalt and I were discussing what issues would be presented should there be an armed civil revolt in this country as a result of the attempted siezure of our constitutional protections. Particularly, the 2nd Amendment protections guaranteed in the constitution.
During the Clinton administration, the “king of slease” was infusing gays into the military under the guise of a policy known euphemistically as “don’t ask, don’t tell”. What would be the danger of such a policy?…Fast forward to today…Not only can they now tell, but the policy now is openly soliciting gays under the guise of some obscure fairness doctrine. Didn’t they have the right to begin with?
Now, the sinister side of the issue. It is common knowledge that gays are generally politically far, far, left of center, and will support that position with a militancy not seen in most other groups. Their behaviors are evidentiarily deviant in nature which is easily provable in a natural setting. Enough on that.
Back to the subject of our dependence upon the military for either intervention or support during an armed revolt, and given the consideration that the controlling elements will more than likely be split along political, moral, and ethical lines once they are put in a position of having to choose…
What happens if the military has been so heavily infused with an element which is compatible with a political force in the process of hijacking the legal system of our country? They are now trained militarily. There is another issue here concerning the demographics within the military. The gay population is perhaps 1%? of the US population, but what happens when that demographic is shifted proportionately within a smaller population (the military) and becomes perhaps 20%…or more. Remember here, gays are militant in their philosophy and, along with that, a large percentage can be considered a cadre for the permeation of the existing population thus, creating more gays.

“Allen West expounds upon the threat of terrorists infiltrating the U.S. military, more than 100 of whom may have already infiltrated the armed forces, says a recent study.

According to West, this infiltration is part of a greater “stealth jihad,” [in a stealth “cultural terrorist jihad” which is a] a covert campaign by radical Islamists to infiltrate [and overthrow and destroy] all aspects of American life.”

  57. ……………..In reality and to me the rights of SEXUAL DEVIATES has NEVER been a issue. At issue with me IS IN FACT THEIR FILTHY DEVIATE LIVES which after they contract their various diseases expect the rest of America to pay the cost of their healthcare. Since it was their own choice to voluntarily pursue a DANGEROUS life style then NONE OF THEM NEED EVER EXPECT ME TO KNOWINGLY CONTRIBUTE even 1 cent to OFFSETT the cost of the medical necessities involved with their solicited illnesses. To compound this these people are angered by being called QUEERS,FAGGOTS ETC,but boy they sure don’t care about calling Christians “PIECES OF SHI#”, and make statements wherein they are ALLEGEDLY PRAYING that the owner of Chick-A Fil contracts cancer and dies a horrible death. He didn’t even call the DEVIATES a NAME, he only made a statement that MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMEN(to which I also subscribe) IF there are any SEXUAL DEVIATES READING THIS AND MY ALLEGIANCE TO MARRIAGE OFFENDS YOU YOU MAY FIRE WHEN READY,because I don’t need to argue a damn thing with any of you. I know up from down, and when you pray that somebody becomes ill and dies from it then I would reply by pointing out that the likelihood of a disease which is domained in your own lifestyle will probably strike you long before cancer strikes the Christian owner of Chick-A Fil. HA HA HA HA HAHA HA GO TO HELL SEXUAL DEVIATES. Better still BURN IN HELL!

  58. ……..on another note MMMMMSSSSSS. Warren (D) Massachussetts is NOW SAYING that the rich people didn’t get rich as a result of their own efforts. OK BUMB BUTT tell that to the retired CEO OF MICROSOFT, and to Harland Sanders, and a long list of people who DID INDEED BECOME WEALTHY RESULTANT OF THEIR OWN INITIATIVES, and ENTREPRENEURIAL EFFORTS. MMMMMSSSSSS. Warren is definitely one of the most unimformed NITWITS that I have ever heard FLAPPING THEIR TRAPS. When I looked at the video of her “BARBARA BOXCAR” popped into my mind. She sounded about as disturbed as MMMMMSSSSS. BOXCAR.

  59. Black Pastors Attack: ‘Half-White’ Obama ‘Ignores Us’

CSPAN: WASHINGTON, DC, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 – A group of African-American clergy opposed to same-sex marriage speak about their campaign to oppose President Obama’s re-election. Rev. William Owens, President and Founder of the Coalition of African-American Pastors, believes that President Obama takes the vote of the black community for granted and that he is putting the interests of his gay supporters ahead of the religious beliefs of his African-American backers.

I fully concurr with your analysis. A fighting force even if only a platoon needs to be COHESIVE. This is NOT UNDERSTOOD very well by people who have never been in the military services. Cohesion simply put is each member of a patrol.platoon,or company, etc becoming spiritually bonded as BLOOD BROTHERS. This cohesion is absolutely necessary, if a force is to be effective in fighting an enemy. Cohesion doesn’t necessarily occur between SEXUAL DEVIATES and the rest of the company nor does it necessarily occur between FEMALE soldiers and the rest of the company. The GRAND EXPERIMENT by our UPPER ECHELON BRASS, and the special interest groups HAS FAILED,is a ongoing failure, and will ALWAYS be a faillure. Whenever you put a human being into a venue that is not the natural character of that human you diminish the capacity of that human to act intelligently, responsibly, and with regard to battlefield conditions, quickly, and accurately, because the survival of the entire company is dependent upon the company’s fighting capability as a UNIT not as an individual. I keep hearing people citing a specific soldier as being the ONE MAN WHO SAVED US ALL.. That may be true but again he may well have simply been doing his part of the battle more effectively than the others, but the platoon prevailed largely because there was a cohesion between the members of the platoon. While serving in the Indiana National Guard I recall our first seargent telling us about the cohesion that was present in his company which he landed with at Normandy, and with whom he walked most of the way to the Rhine. Only TWO members of the original company survived the distance. Maybe he was lucky he carried a very heavy weapon a BAR.

  61. ……….I am in agreement with Allen West who recently stated that the infiltration of our military services by terrorists is part of a much larger congregation who are acting as a STEALTH JIHAD. Do you suppose that Major Hassan could have been one such person? Yet here he is still collecting a major’s pay,and otherwise enjoying all of the fruits of a commissioned officer. Yet Colonel Lakin did NOT RETAIN a DAMN THING. Lakin didn’t MURDER a hell of a bunch of soldiers ,all he done was QUESTION the legal validity of the CINC, as well as the orders received from the CINC. He was also stripped of everything which he had legally coming to him,and was ILLEGALLY imprisoned as a result of a SHAM General Courts Martial. I pray each day that I will live to watch each and everyone of the BASTARDS who perpetrated the Kangaroo Courts Martial face a TRUE GENERAL COURTS MARTIAL themselves, and are imprisoned for at least the same length of time as Lakin, and are ALL DRUMMED OUT OF THE MILITARY IN DISGRACE. I want to see the WRETCHED LOOKS UPON THEIR SLIMEY,PASTY LOOKING FACES, and I want to watch each of them GRIMACE as he/she receives their just sentences to LEAVANWORTH.

  62. ……all that was necessary at Lakin’s trial was for all of the prosecutors, their staff, and the senior officers at Jag to drop the entire thing right back into the laps of the joint chiefs, and say to the joint chiefs….”.We refuse to execute your orders, on grounds that every commisioned officer has a duty to question orders which he/she may perceive to be ILLEGAL orders or ILLEGALLY ISSUED orders by a person who has never yet PROVEN that he is the CINC.” Perhaps had JAG done this and stood behind it there is an outside chance that Lakin would have simply been “TALKED TO” by his CO,and that would have been the end of it. But we all watched the COWARDLY JAG CROWD do their thing. I will offer this …..The COWARDLY act by the entire JAG to illegally punish a highly qualified, and respected officer will N-E-V-E-R BE FORGOTTEN. A list of ALL of the perpetrators has been compiled, and after the usurper is dealt with at election time, ONE BY ONE each of them will also be brought to justice, in a courtroom of their peers for supporting treason, against our country, and Constitution, and since their illegal act occurred during wartime, each if found guilty should receive a DISHONORABLE discharge, under DISGRACE, and DRUMMED OUT OF THE MILITARY, in addition each should forfeit their individual citizenship to the US wheteher they were born on US soil or not.

    *******************************************
coldwarvet, you bring out some excellent points. The infiltration of the military began long before the usurper. The groundwork was officially laid during the Clinton years; since then it has taken a deep nosedive to further weaken the effectiveness of our fighting forces. You are certainly right about the gay movement in general being militant for their own deviate causes, and also most, not all, do lean far left of center politically.

That is why those who often clamor (on other blogs) for the “military” to stop the madness in D.C. really don’t understand what is truly going on, especially among the top brass. Individual servicemen may not fire on fellow citizens but don’t count on the Pentagon to come to our rescue. After all, they obey orders and to fail to do so will cost them their future, including tenure and pensions. With the decline in moral values today, I am not certain that the U.S. military would refrain from firing on common citizens if so ordered.
