Many years ago I listened to NPR and Rush Limbaugh. I considered that a balanced approach to getting information. There were many decent shows on NPR (National Public Radio), my favorite being “Car Talk.” In the early nineties some of the NPR shows would slip in what I considered elitist, condescending comments about politicians and those of differing political opinions, but it generally did not get out of hand. I began listening less and less to NPR because a trend developed of increasing elitist comments, “we know more than you do.”
Recently NPR crossed over the line with a wholesale attack on average, hard working, patriotic Americans. The following was posted here, January 5, 2010.

“Prominently displayed on the National Public Radio (NPR) web site is a new cartoon titled, “Learn To Speak Tea Bag.” Of course, Tea Party activists don’t ever use the term “tea bag,” a phrase that refers to a sexual act and which has been used by the media to demean the entire tea party movement.”
NPR insults hard working, concerned, patriotic Americans
Apparently NPR, in lock step with their kindred spirits Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama, is so out of touch with reality that they believe the Tea Party Movement is composed of a bunch of Right Wing extremists. Nothing could be further from the truth. And this attitude comes from an organization that claims to present the news.
To add insult to injury, NPR has come out with a response. This response is no apology. The first part is an attempt by
Alicia C. Shepard to diffuse the controversy. The last part reveals the attitude of NPR management.

“When the “Learn to Speak Tea Bag” cartoon making fun of “Tea Party” activists was published on Nov.12, there were 5 comments. By 6 p.m. this past Monday, there were 258. By Wednesday night, over 1,100 people had commented and it was still the most-recommended link on NPR’s web site. On Monday and Tuesday, calls came in every 10 minutes. Over 300 wrote to me — most of them angry.
The 90-second animation, which creator Mark Fiore calls satire, rather summarily dismisses participants in the Tea Party movement as inarticulate, paranoid bumblers. The video “teaches” the viewer to speak conversational “tea bag.”
Moderator: Finally, learning a new language doesn’t have to be hard. You can be fluent in conversational tea bag in just a few short minutes. Lesson one: Don’t get distracted by the confusing words of other languages.
Character: I think the public option and the competition it would foster would really — socialist, socialist.
Moderator: Good, very good. Lesson two: If you’re having trouble understanding the words of others or being understood yourself, use teabag’s stronger, more descriptive words.
Character: “Nazi, Nazi, Nazi.”
It’s actually not that funny — especially to those on the right, including members of the Tea Party movement, which is populated by passionate Americans who don’t like the direction President Obama is taking the country.
“The cartoon is a perfect caricature of what NPR looks like to conservatives: liberals snidely imagining conservatives to be monosyllabic clods who can’t make an argument beyond name-calling,” said Tim Graham, director of media analysis for the conservative Media Research Center. “Conservatism is ‘satirized’ into a form of political retardation.””
“That said, there are problems with the Tea Bag animation. Chief among them is it doesn’t fit with NPR values, one of which is a belief in civility and civil discourse.
Fiore is talented, but this cartoon is just a mean-spirited attack on people who think differently than he does and doesn’t broaden the debate. It engages in the same kind of name-calling the cartoon supposedly mocks.”
“There will be no apology and Fiore’s cartoon is staying up, said Ellen Weiss, senior vice president for news. “Opinion and satire are going to sting some members of the audience and soothe others,” she said, noting NPR has received some positive feedback. “This one satire is not the only coverage on the topic and while it offends some members of the audience, I see no reason to remove it.””

Kirk said he’d have no problem voting for the bill, even if Republican Scott Brown, an opponent of the health care bill, were to be elected by Massachusetts voters but not sworn in until after the Senate’s vote.

Ya, a new wrinkle, eh?
They’re trying to ram this thing through as soon as they can because they know that Scott has a good chance to win.
Here’s the thing: I believe that as of 1/19/10, Kirk’s ‘term’ expires. He is no longer Interim Senator after the election.
Now, if they delay seating Scott, that will leave MA with NO Senator, pro Death Care or against it. That means no vote either way if they ram it through after 1/19.
Don’t put it past ‘Governor’ Deval Patrick and his merry band of thieves to change yet another law if Scott wins.
I will try to check to see the stipulations of Kirk’s term and when it officially ends. Let me see if I can do it from home; if not, I can get to it on Monday when additional resources are available.

A quick scan tells me that Kirk’s term ends with the Special Election on 1/19.
I’m gonna call a pal on Monday who knows everything that’s happening on Bacon (oops, I mean ‘Beacon’) Hill 🙂 ; she’ll have the right answer.
Will post as soon as I find out fer shure, but indications are that his term ends on Election Day. If that’s so, just watch the ‘maneuvering’ that’ll take place. There ain’t no other place like this on earth (thank goodness).

There will be blood in the streets…..conservatives will not allow this to happen!!! Excellent post! In reading your post the thought regarding the latest percentage figures crossed my mind. These figures are a few days old now so take that into consideration. The last figures I read showed that for the alleged first time Conservatives were ahead of everyone else,at 40%. The middle group the MODERATES were at 36%, and the LIBERALS were bringing up the rear at 21%. In all probability NPR doesn’t have these figures. I often take issue with Juan Williams who pretends to be a moderate. He sometims forgets his stated position and jumps into assist the LIBERALS. He puts me in mind of Bob Beckel. Of all the panelists that I have watched I find myself following the viewpoints of Charles Krauthammer more than anyone.
At this point I am restating my position regarding Beck. While I am still angered by his not so nice comments about BIRTHERS, I have not completely turned away from him. He still possesses certain attributes which I believe will eventually help him to recover some of the viewers that he undoubtedly lost,because of his rhetoric. I believe that it is extremely important for us to also be aware of other political things that are going on besides the behavior of Soetoro. Beck has taken some of this apart bolt for bolt, and presented the core truth about Acorn, and the Progressives. In addition I personally think these seemingly insignificant issues are part, and parcel to what is going on in the Whitehouse in general. When thought of in a generalised context it is easy to see the connections.
In spite of all of this it is our own responsibility to find the particular issues which we choose to either believe or disbelieve, and research it as far as we possibly can. Then we don’t have to rely upon someone’s opinion. We have formed our own! Another person whose values I admire is Newt Gingrich. I personally see him as the probable front runner candidate for POTUS in 2012. Perhaps with Palin,or Keyes as VP.

I received a couple of emails from Jeff this week but nothing on the IRS certified letter!
I don’t believe that we will be able to get Soetoro out of office in 2010, but we have an excellent chance of it in 2012. Unless he does something that puts either the DOJ, Congress, or both in one hell of a bind, (which neither can lie their way out of in the interim), there is little chance that he will be unseated between now and 2012. However that doesn’t take into account if sombody comes up with another smoking gun that makes a loud enough “bang”. If that happens then all bets are off.It would need to have total world wide distribution in any/or all newspapers, and magazines in print. It will need to be brought to the attention of ALL world governments, as well. I also continue to pray that the POE-INS records will be found. This is just a small sampling of the vast numbers of great Americans that have endeavored for the past year and a half to try to understand and fight this threat to our country and our constitution. The ability to know all of the millions that have tried as best they could to help in the effort to expose Barack Hussein Obama for the fraud that he is would be impossible and therefore any omission from this list is not intentional.

. It is a real a pleasure to read beautifully written literature. The subject always seems to flow like water. I sometimes visit our newly renovated public library,and go to the classics area. Hours pass so quickly when you are totally absorbed in a “GOOD” book. Our library now has 100,000 sq.feet under roof, and 2 floors.The Geneaology department is rated as 2nd only to the facility at Latter Day Saints Archives, in Salt Lake City. They had a few stumbles during the construction stage but the contractors finally got it done, and it was well worth waiting for.

Anytime the dependents go above 9 the company has to flag it to the IRS. (I was told this at my HR dept. when I got a bonus and wanted the money now – I changed to 9 for a pay period)

I have heard 9 as well. 10 raises a red flag for the IRS. Check with a tax attorney or CPA, though, just to be sure.

Me too! I however am not holding my breath. I believe that it is going to be a long and difficult fight. I say this because there is so much corruption about us. The aggregate of all of the levels of corruption is so vast that it is like a beast with a thousand tentacles. All of which are into a different crevice in the ground. Each tentacle must be severed separately.

Also, there may be a penalty assessed in April for doing this. It is with self employed people. We – the self employed – need to be owing within $1000 on April 15 th or penalties occur.
I am not going to write Beck off yet, either, because he has done a lot of good work exposing BO and associates. Many people believe that the BC issue is a “trap”, so I can understand if Beck feels that way too. But Beck’s denigration went too far.

Thanks, OS77. I think that the quote that I gave meant just as much then as it does now. It shows some things never change. Actually a lot never changes. Being a traitor is the same meaning now as it was back then with the first traitor. Circumstances may be different, but it’s just the same old same old. Still that quote said it just right.
