Election 2009, November 3, 2009, Voters reject Obama agenda and Democratic Congress, Virginia rout, NJ rejects Obama, No more Obama

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”…Winston Churchill

My fellow Americans, we have achieved a milestone. We can partially rejoice. As Winston Churchill stated, this is not the end but perhaps we have turned a corner and with cautious optimism, we can try to stop the Democratic Congress and Obama from ramming an unpopular and ruinous Health Care Bill down our throats. And regardless of how the Health Care agenda plays out, we must dramatically change the composition and attitude of Congress next year in the 2010 elections.

We have achieved great victories in Virginia, New Jersey and New York City. The victory in VA was a rout. The victory in New Jersey was a slap in the face to Obama, who had campaigned for Governor Corzine three times in the past several months. This is a clear signal to Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress that Americans want change all right. Change from Obama’s socialist agenda.

We must continue to support the efforts of Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and others to confront Nancy Pelosi and Congress to demand no government Health Care. All of our efforts and hopes hinge on contacting our congressmen and holding them accountable. That means in the next several days, leading up to the elections in 2010 and henceforth.

Don’t back down.

Don’t let up.

  1. Please take the inspiration from tonight’s important victories and carry them to Washington this Thursday. The momentum is here and now is the time to capitalize it.

This is Obama’s torture; this is why he’s not watching. He’s already been advised of the expected results.

  5. Too bad Boston didn’t do the same. Menino won an unprecedented fifth consecutive term. Politics as usual.

    Venice,

    The comments are a hoot!

Time for Barky to change that pink underwear…maybe teal will do?

  7. SueK,

Yea, on Politico nonetheless. Isn’t that an avid Obama supporter?

  8. twe // November 3, 2009 at 11:56 pm

Yeah, twe, but lookit who he was running against. You had a choice between cat litter and dog litter; no matter which you chose, you’d still end up with a dirty litter box…

At least talk radio has another term of ‘Mumbonics’ on the way :). Really, now, how depressed would we be if we couldn’t hear the Mayah ‘speak?” (Or, should I say, try to speak).

Don’t read Politico, Venice…not sure how they swing. I have read a few good articles via links provided, but I don’t know if they’re proBarky or contraBarky.

Wondering about the teal, now…Hope it makes him feel a little better now that he’s pretty much lost the farm.

  10. Guys, There’s an open thread at redstate.com regarding Hoffman. I think it will give some updates as far as what is happening. Apparently the Hoffman camp is cautiously optimistic for several reasons which you can read about there.

  11. SueK and Michelle–yeah, calories and fat for my mother would not turn her into the Pillsbury doughboy. She has a long way to go to get there. She has always eaten like a bird. I am a different story. I could stand to loose some, maybe a good stone or so (in Maddie parlance). At least the Halloween candy will be gone soon (guess where it went?)

Lot of crazies out in Bahstan tonight.

  12. I just watched Corzine admit defeat in his bid to remain governor of NJ, only FOX carried his speech.

  19. venice I heard it was $100,000,000.00, (one hundred million). That must be a very rewarding job to have, to warrant spending that much money to get it.

  20. Free Republic has an article saying it looks like Hoffman’s lost.

  21. Bob,

Yes, I was going to correct it, but then I thought what’s 15 million to a billionaire and didn’t want to take up CW’s space.

  22. I’m sorry, I like steele as a person, but he needs to be fired. I know it was the Dem’s strategy to put Scuzzy in the Republican race, but Steele let them roll over him and let it happen. The responsibility falls on his shoulders and we we just can’t waste any precious seconds on this kind of crap.

OK, twe, nutrition, nutrition, nutrition for Mom!

We all could stand to lose a couple stone. They brought the leftover Halloween candy into work…mine went the same place yours did in fact, I just duct taped the Hershey’s bars directly onto my hips and circumvented the entire digestive system…that’s where they’re gonna end up, anyway!

‘Lot of crazies out in Bahstan tonight.’

And why should tonight be any different than any other night down there?

  34. bob strauss,

Here’s my anti-idiot “Pro A14” response I posted over at Phil’s locale for your reading enjoyment:

    ——————————–

I will say this again for the 100th time. Amendment XIV cannot be used to satisfy natural born citizenship because it only covers who is and who is not a Citizen of the United States. Natural Born Citizen and Citizen of the United States are completely separate, distinct definitions of citizenship by the framers.

But I wouldn’t expect you [pro A14 idiots] to understand this because you amongst all the other pro-A14 people on here have never read the chamber notes and debates during the Convention that framed and ratified the Constitution. You do not understand naturalization history. And you’re clearly lost in a fog regarding how Constitutional law, let alone everyday law works.

Since I seem to have to do everyone’s leg work for them and illiteracy appears to run rampant around here, I’ll cite some important historical law and correspondence. Being a citizen of the United States is not the same as being a Natural-Born citizen. Article II clearly differentiates the two. A citizen of the United States is synonymous with being a Natural Born Subject of British birthright. Read The Revolutionary Diplomatic Correspondence of the United States, Volume 6 Hartley to Franklin Treatise, London, March 31, 1783.:

SEPARATE ARTICLE, TO BE REFERRED TO THE DEFINITIVE TREATY.
    10. Neither shall the independence of the United States be construed any further than as independence, absolute and unlimited, in matters of government, as well as commerce. Not into alienation, and therefore the subjects of his Britannic majesty and the citizens of the United States shall mutually be considered as natural born subjects, and enjoy all rights and privileges as such in the respective dominions and territories in the manner heretofore accustomed.

Now that there’s a clear connection here, we can dismiss any connection of Natural Born Citizen to Natural Born Subject because they are distinctly different terms in the Constitution. Next, Thomas Jefferson wrote in his citizenship notes cited in Letters of Delegates to Congress: Volume 21 October 1, 1783 – October 31, 1784 Thomas Jefferson’s Notes :

Qu.2. The father a British subject; the son in America, adult, and within the description of an American citizen, according to their laws. Can the son inherit?
He owes no allegiance to Great B. The treaty acknowleges he does not. But allegiance is the test of a natural subject. Were he to do an act here which would be treason in a British subject he could not be punished should he happen to go there.
He owes allegiance to the states. He is an alien then and cannot inherit.
Obj. The state of the father draws to it that of the son.

Now we’ve established that citizenship is allegiance and the father passes this down to son at birth. Moving right along, Congress clearly stated in the mid 1800’s that PARENTS conferred natural born citizenship as mentioned in the Journal of the House of Representatives of the United States, 1838-1839;MONDAY, January 28, 1839.:

Mr. Heman Allen submitted the following resolution; which was read, and debate arising, it was laid over, under the rule, viz:

Resolved, That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law on the subject of naturalization, as to exclude those from the privileges of natural-born citizens who are or shall be born of parents who have been removed, or shall remove, from the United States, and have taken or shall take the oath of allegiance to the Government in which they so reside, until such person shall become naturalized like other foreigners, agreeably to the laws that now do or hereafter may exist on that subject.

By the 1860’s it was clear that people even being born in the territories to U.S. Citizen fathers were having a hard time being declared a U.S. Citizen. Hence Amendment XIV and the emancipation of the slaves. In a turning point case Minor v. Happersett (1875), Justice Wait stated:

The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also.

In 1855 it was further provided that any woman who might lawfully be naturalized under the existing laws, married, or who should be married to a citizen of the United States, should be deemed and taken to be a citizen.

Although this was a legal opinion, Wait cited a very clear date of 1855. Pay attention because this date is significant as it was the signing of the Citizenship of Married Women Act. This act finally enabled women to confer citizenship status of their husbands. It wasn’t until 1933 when Congress even considered women as those who could confer U.S. citizenship to children of alien fathers. This is because prior to 1933, all women lost their citizenship status whenever they married an alien. They became a resident alien. In the American Citizenship Rights of Women Judicial Hearing on March 2, 1933; Si 3968:

Si 3968, Seventy-second Congress, first session: A BILL To provide for the citizenship of a child born of an American mother and an alien father. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That a child born without the United States since September 22, 1922, of an American mother and an alien father shall be a citizen of the United States upon the return to the United States of the American mother: Provided, That said American mother shall not have ceased at any time prior to her return to the United States to be a citizen of the United States.

It’s clear that when the framers wrote the Constitution, at a minimum, the father had to confer citizenship at birth to the child regardless of the classification because the father conferred citizenship at birth until 1933 at the very earliest. And since no law has ever been enacted that re-defines the definition of Natural-born, the way it was written then is the way it’s written now. No statute or naturalization law has ever attempted to re-defined this term as it was written in 1787.

    ————————–

So when any of these goofballs want to play ball, just ask them which nationality act enabled women to confer natural-born citizenship status to their children. Wish them the best of luck and kick their butts right out the Constitutional door.

  42. Good morning Patriots! And it is indeed a good morning!

We won in Virginia and NJ AND, in NY, sent a message to the RINO brigade that we would vote for the CONSERVATIVE candidate and not just the wolf in sheeps clothing they force upon us.

We are not stupid. If you put peas in a can and label them carrots, we DO know they aren’t carrots. Duh. A conservative INDEPENDENT forced the Republican annointed OUT on her ear. THAT was a victory. And hey, at least the new representative will be labeled correctly now in congress.

If the Republicans want to win…….they better get out of the left and middle.

Oh…and Virginia and NJ showed a serious case of buyers remorse on the whole hopeandchange thingie. Good for them! New Jersey for goodness sakes….lol

“A Honduran legislative committee voted not to convene a special session of Congress to consider returning the country’s ousted leader, in a move likely to dash chances of Manuel Zelaya’s returning to power even temporarily under a deal brokered last week by the U.S.

On Tuesday, a committee of 13 legislators voted to not convene the special session, opting instead to wait until Congress receives nonbinding legal opinions on the issue from Honduras’s Supreme Court, attorney general’s office and other institutions. It set no deadline for when the reports had to be received.”

This is was recorded before the election results, but it is just as relevant.

  48. As Krauthammer says, last night’s elections is a declaration of several things:

    1. The magic of Obama is definitively gone, and the people are revolting with their vote.

    2. Last night’s results are a profound statement of resistance against the health care bill.

    3. Obama is essentially a one trick pony, ie, delivering speeches, but this limited scope has turned on him badly. He gave 29 speeches on health care and with every turn, confidence in his leadership has diminished.

    4. Irrespective of the NJ results pending, the state is heavily Democratic so even a tight squeeze to victory for them is a loss. Well, I guess with a clear win, the magnitude of that loss is even greater now .

  49. Zach,

Great news for Honduras, great news for the world.
