Talk about creative accounting and seasonal adjustments.

The alleged decrease of  37,000 initial claims from the prior week makes zero reality sense.

“Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state.”…CT Constitution

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good”…George Washington

Why do the liberals and Obama blame guns for tragedies like Sandy Hook?

Lack of reason and accountability.

Yesterday  Citizen Wells presented what all school systems, especially those most vulnerable, should have been doing to protect students.

1. Monitor the areas outside the buildings. This would include monitored security cameras and some combination of walk arounds by staff and or security personnel.

2. Security alarms for illegal entry.

3. Buffered entry ways. i.e. double entry ways. The first door should set off the alarm and the second would slow down intrusion.

4. Stronger doorways.

5. Regular drills for emergency preparedness. We had those when I was in grade school.

6. As many armed school personnel as possible. “Good guys with guns to stop the bad guys with guns.” Each armed person should be psychologically evaluated.

Connecticut gun laws among the toughest in the U.S.

However, school personnel could have been armed.

“It is unlawful to possess a firearm on public or private elementary or secondary school property. This prohibition shall not apply to a person with a firearm carrying permit, with permission from school officials, or while traversing school property with an unloaded firearm for the purpose of gaining access to lands open to hunting or for other lawful purposes, provided entry is not prohibited by school officials.”

School security at Sandy Hook, in CT and across the country in the past has been inadequate and still is. Apparently the folks in Connecticut still don’t get it.

From the Examiner January 14, 2013.

“Connecticut school new security policies, after the Sandy Hook massacre”

“Nearly one month after the Connecticut school shooting, several local districts have put new security measures in place, including locked front doors and tighter visitor sign-in policies, and launched reviews of their safety procedures.

Area officials say they have been working closely with local police departments and staff members to come up with the best policies to protect students and teachers in the wake of the Dec. 14 tragedy in which 20 children and six adults were killed.

“We’re taking it seriously, but we’re mindful of the human factor and not increasing the anxiety of our students,’’ said Weston Superintendent Cheryl Maloney.

In Weston, all school doors were previously locked except front doors. Maloney said those doors are now locked but the district has yet to install buzzers or cameras. Members of the office staff, she said, are responsible for answering the door until a new system can be installed.

Natick has also started locking the front doors at its schools, while Newton, Sudbury, and the Ayer-Shirley Regional district have plans in the works. Acton is studying the option. Needham has completed an upgrade of security at the town’s schools that includes a buzzer and surveillance system and locked front doors,

In Weston, Maloney said there has been mixed reaction among parents to the changes. “They preferred the more welcoming front door,’’ she said.

Maloney said the district is considering a swipe-card system for the doors, but it will take time to go through the bidding process to buy the equipment and have it installed. “We will continue with that plan and may accelerate it,’’ she said.

Maloney said the district is also looking at hiring a consultant to review its practices and see whether any additional changes are necessary. She said they have been more vigilant about visitor passes, and having parents wait in the lobby for students.

Natick Superintendent Peter Sanchioni said that before the Newtown shooting, just one of the district’s eight schools had a camera and buzzer system. During the winter break, locks and buzzers were installed at all schools, he said.”

“We’re taking it seriously”

I wouldn’t bet on it.

If you have children in CT schools, contact your officials and insist that armed personnel be present at your schools.

Too many liberals, guided by their “feelings”, have been running our school systems. We conservatives must get more involved.

I will be investigating further school security in my home state of NC.

Secure schools not empower criminals, Gun control does not protect children, Sandy Hook poorly prepared, CT strict gun laws failed, Keep criminals and insane away from buildings

“the deadliest school-related massacre in American history happened in 1927, at an elementary school in Bath, Mich. A school board member named Andrew Kehoe, upset over a burdensome property tax, wired the building with dynamite and set it off in the morning of May 18. Kehoe’s actions killed 45 people, 38 of whom were children.”…NY Times December 18, 2012

“Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA – ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.”…Heinrich Himmler

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good”…George Washington

Gun control has never worked and never will work. It is the solution of dictators and those lacking reason and accountability.

We secure our businesses with armed guards and security cameras. Rational and responsible members of society protect their families with security systems and weapons. Why have we not protected our schools?

Focusing on gun control is a knee jerk reaction that does not work and does not address the real issues of protecting our children.

Guns are not the issue, school security is.

There are many ways to commit mass murders of children, including explosives as simple as molotov cocktails, fire, poisoned air, poisoned water, poisoned food, crashing vehicles, etc.

The worst school disaster happened in Bath Township, Michigan May 18, 1927. 38 elementary school children and 6 adults were killed and at least 58 others injured. Dynamite was used.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/crime/2012/12/18/bath_school_bombing_remembering_the_deadliest_school_massacre_in_american.html

Elementary and Kindergarten aged children are the most vulnerable and should receive the most protection. Here are some common sense based remedies that will greatly improve the security for these children.

As strange as it may sound, we have been fortunate that only guns have been mostly used. The Sandy Hook tragedy could have been much worse.

Thank God some people are waking up, purchasing weapons and taking advantage of free training.

Thank God also for the Tenth Amendment which allows for state autonomy.

Despite the idiotic Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990, many states allow weapons in schools under controlled circumstances.

Too bad they did not at Sandy Hook.

From NBC News January 14, 2013.

“Guns already allowed in schools with little restriction in many states”

“With the debate over gun violence reshaped by the shooting deaths of 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school last month, lawmakers across the country are pushing proposals to arm teachers in the classroom. But many of them may be wasting their time.

More than a third of the states already allow teachers and other adults to carry guns to school. In most cases, all you need is the equivalent of a note from the principal — you usually don’t even need law enforcement approval.

NBC News reviewed the firearms and education laws in all 50 states and found that 18 of them allow adults to have a loaded gun on school grounds, usually as long as they have written permission.

That’s for pretty much any reason; the list doesn’t include states that generally ban guns but carve out narrow exceptions for specific activities like safety demonstrations or military formations and parades.

The families of the children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as well as other Newtown, Conn., community members, are demanding change. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports.

During a Tea Party forum in Fort Worth, Texas Gov. Rick Perry became one of the first prominent officials after the Dec. 14 shootings to call for teachers to be allowed to carry firearms to work — even though Texas already allows any qualified adult to do so as long as the principal OKs it.

Since then, lawmakers in several states have jumped on board with proposals that mirror laws already on the books.”

“The Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 prohibits anyone from having a firearm in a school zone. But that law includes the same exception recognized by the states identified in NBC News’ survey: It doesn’t apply if the weapons are “approved by a school in the school zone.”

And in any event, Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Steve Stockman, R-Texas, have introduced measures in the new Congress that would repeal the federal law altogether.

Here are the 18 states that allow adults to carry loaded weapons onto school grounds with few or minor conditions:

  • Alabama (which bans possessing a weapon on school grounds only if the carrier has “intent to do bodily harm”)
  • California (with approval of the superintendent)
  • Connecticut (with approval of “school officials”)
  • Hawaii (no specific law)
  • Idaho (with school trustees’ approval)
  • Iowa (with “authorization”)
  • Kentucky (with school board approval)
  • Massachusetts (with approval of the school board or principal)
  • Mississippi (with school board approval)
  • Montana (with school trustees’ permission)
  • New Hampshire (ban applies only to pupils, not adults)
  • New Jersey (with approval from the school’s “governing officer”)
  • New York (with the school’s approval)
  • Oregon (with school board approval)
  • Rhode Island (with a state concealed weapons permit)
  • Texas (with the school’s permission)
  • Utah (with approval of the “responsible school administrator”)
  • Wyoming (as long as it’s not concealed)”

“Guilford (Large NC County) appears on it’s way to a third consecutive year with annual jobless rates in double digits. Economists say that likely hasn’t happened since the Great Depression.”…Greensboro News Record December 2, 2011

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”…Jesus, John 8:32

Pat McCrory, the new Republican Governor of NC is a likeable guy. He inherited a huge mess from former Democrat Governor Beverly Perdue, Barack Obama and the Democrats.

McCrory was raised within approx. 15 miles of where I was raised. Though he is younger than I, he must have been surrounded, as I was, by good people who had some damn sense.

Pat McCrory, what the hell were you thinking?

Perceptions matter.

Despite the fact that you inherited this mess, you just gave high pay raises to staff members surrounding you while average North Carolinians are still suffering.

You made a mistake.

Admit it.

Fix it!

From the Raleigh News Observer January 13, 2013.

“Saunders: McCrory takes care of his own”

“If you saw our new governor live or on television banging away on a drum set with a band at Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre last week, you already know Ringo has nothing to worry about.

For further evidence that the governor is tone deaf, all you had to do was read the newspaper the next day and see that Gov. Pat, henceforth known as Gov. Pay Raise, McCrory bestowed sizable raises on the people closest to him while sprinkling a pittance upon those outside his inner circle – you know, the ones who do the actual work.

Six-figure-earning Cabinet secretaries in his administration received raises ranging from 5 to 11 percent right off the bat. Tony Tata and Kieran Shanahan, directors of transportation and public safety, respectively, got bumped from $121,807 to $135,000.

Nice work if you can get it, and you can get it, apparently, if you’re close enough to reach out and touch the hem of the governor’s garment.

Regular ol’ state workers got raises, too – their first in four years. Surely Gov. McCrory cut them a nice slice of that state cheddar, one commensurate with their worth, right?

Nope. They received raises – if you can call them that – of 1.2 percent. If the average teacher’s salary in North Carolina is $46,605, that means his or her salary went up $559.26.

Hmm. One hundred years ago, that would’ve been enough to keep ’em rolling in fatback, flour and sorghum from the General Store to see them through spring. Now, though, $559.26 might feed a family of four for a month – as long as two of them don’t eat.

Oh … nevermind

Do you remember that campaign talk from Gov. McCrory about how we’ve all got to learn to tighten our belts and live within our means?

Nevermind. He apparently wasn’t talking about the high-up muckety mucks. “I’m trying to make it at least where they can afford to live while running multi-billion-dollar departments,” he said in an earlier interview with The N&O.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have much confidence in the management skills or fiscal acumen of any Cabinet secretary who can’t live off $121,000 a year but who can live off $135,000.

The governor and his supporters will no doubt stress that these selfless public servants – tee hee – could make more money in the private sector. Perhaps some could, although others – judging by recent work histories – would be lucky to find a job wearing a paper hat and nametag and asking “Paper or plastic?””

NC law enforcement officers receive Sovereign citizen profile training, Southern Poverty Law Center involved, White American sovereigns concerned with US Constitution

“American sovereign groups are commonly delineated along racial lines. White American sovereigns tend to be concerned with the U.S. Constitution and state constitutions, and their interpretations of those documents in a historical context.”…Police Magazine

“It wasn’t only acknowledged radicals reacting. In Wyoming, a state where guns are very much a part of life for many, lawmakers have sponsored a bill that would ensure that “any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state shall be unenforceable in Wyoming.” Of course, this kind of attempt to “nullify” federal laws dates back to the Civil War and is generally unconstitutional.”…Southern Poverty Law Center Hate Watch

We live in an Orwellian age of undue government control and “1984” like wordsmithing. That is why what is presented here concerns me.

Words and language do matter.

American sovereigns.

The definition depends on who you ask but what is clear is that a leftist agenda of gun control, weakening of the US Constitution and misportrayal of those who believe in the Constitution is growing.

It is happening in my home state of NC.

Winston Salem police recently allowed people stopped by traffic police to present an ID card issued by a local organization that works closely with Hispanic groups and apparently the Greensboro police were considering the same move.

Illegal aliens are being protected.

What about citizens who support the US Constitution?

From WECT January 3, 2013.

“Law enforcement to be certified in dealing with sovereign citizens by the end of 2013”

“Local law enforcement will be able to spot and handle a sovereign citizen by the end of 2013.

Authorities tell WECT.com that by the end of the year, every law enforcement officer in the state will receive certification for dealing with this group of people.

According to detectives, a sovereign citizen is person who believes they can choose which laws apply to them and which do not.

Deputies in Brunswick County recently had an incident with a woman they believe to have sovereign beliefs.

The 2013 certification has been mandated for all law enforcement by training and standards.

“I believe it’s because of the rise in violence that we’ve seen from sovereign citizens,” said Cpl. Ben Byrne who works with the Apex Police Department. “I believe it’s between 6 and 8 officers since 2002 killed in the line of duty by sovereign citizens.”

Authorities said it’s hard to tell how many sovereigns live locally.

Nationally, there are 100,000 “hardcore sovereigns” and 200,000 who are just starting their journey to following these beliefs.”

“RECOGNIZING SOVEREIGN CITIZENS #3821”

“Purpose:

To equip the law enforcement officer with the knowledge to recognize and identify sovereign citizens, and to better understand the subculture movement in order to enhance officer safety and conduct thorough investigations.

Course Goal:

Police work is an ever-evolving profession. As time progresses, new trends emerge which require police officers to be always alert and on the ready to change to meet these new threats. In North Carolina today, as well as the United States as a whole, the sovereign citizen movement and ideology is on the rise. With this new threat comes the need for professional law enforcement officers to be educated on the ideology, verbiage and monikers, tactics and criminality of this growing sub-culture. With proper training, officers can be equipped to deal safely with these individuals, and prepare thorough and successful prosecutions.”

“UNDERSTANDING THE THREAT #5230”

“Who Should Attend:

Law enforcement officers who come into contact with members of the public who may belong to a sovereign group. Each officer will receive a copy of the DVD, Understanding the Threat, about Officers Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans, who were killed by a father and son, who were sovereign citizens.

Course Goal:

To help the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) save officers’ lives through training and education.”

Why is the Southern Poverty Law Center involved in this training?

“Feelings have their place. I have feelings of empathy for the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy. “The problem occurs, sir, in those areas precisely where we have said ‘no guns.’ The problem doesn’t occur where the guns are allowed freely to be carried to be used by people. There we have very low murder rates.”…Larry Pratt

From Political Outcast January 12, 2013.

“England’s Crime Rate Nearly Four Times Higher than United States”

I’ll give Piers Morgan credit for one thing: He’s not afraid to interview people who have strong disagreements with him. He’s giving them a platform for views that rarely see the light of day on liberal networks.

He had Alex Jones of InfoWars on a few nights ago. While Jones was a little over the top, he didn’t roll over for Morgan. Too many conservatives want to be friends with the media as if their agreeable style will somehow endear them to the liberal media establishment. It will never, never, never happen.

Morgan also had Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America on. Don’t mess with Larry Pratt. He comes to interviews prepared, and he’s a lot more measured and calm than Jones. In his December 19, 2012 interview, Pratt had said that “evil’s in our hearts. Not in the guns.” That’s probably the first time the secularist Morgan ever heard that before. Of course, it’s true. Good people, or at least people who work hard to say no to evil thoughts and desires, do not murder people. When some usually good person “snaps,” the snapping is the evil in them (James 1:13–15; Mark 7:14–15).

Pratt went on to say to Morgan in the interview:

“The problem occurs, sir, in those areas precisely where we have said ‘no guns.’ The problem doesn’t occur where the guns are allowed freely to be carried to be used by people. There we have very low murder rates.”

Pratt returned to Morgan’s show on January 9th of this year. The sparks flew over crime statistics.

The vast majority of people in England do not own guns. Guns are heavily restricted. Morgan sees this as one of the reasons crime is low in England. At least that’s what he’s been trying to pass off to his low-information viewers . . . until Larry Pratt showed up for round two.

Pratt maintained that the official police homicide numbers are cooked. “The data that you are using for the murder rate in England is a sham,” Pratt countered. “There’s a monumental miss-reporting of what constitutes murder. If three people are murdered, it’s likely to be counted as one event.” In fact, an article on crime statistics in England makes the same point: “there are the official police figures (which historically under-record the true level of crime).”

Morgan couldn’t handle the truth. He accused Pratt of “deliberately lying, deliberately twisting” the data. Where did Pratt get his information? Instead of there being 39 murders in 2011 that Morgan claimed, Pratt stated there were 970. “That’s exactly what your own constabulary is saying,” insisted Pratt.

Then just yesterday, I came across an article that was published in The Telegraph on July 2, 2009:

“Analysis of figures from the European Commission showed a 77 per cent increase in murders, robberies, assaults and sexual offences in the UK since [the] Labour [Party] came to power.

The total number of violent offences recorded compared to population is higher than any other country in Europe, as well as America, Canada, Australia and South Africa.

“The UK had a greater number of murders in 2007 than any other EU country — 927 — and at a relative rate higher than most western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

It gets worse. “Overall, 5.4 million crimes were recorded in the UK in 2007 — more than 10 a minute — second only to Sweden. . . . It means there are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the UK, making it the most violent place in Europe.”

Great Britain’s crime rate is nearly four times that of the United States. “By comparison, America has an estimated rate of 466 violent crimes per 100,000 population.”

From The Telegraph July 2, 2009.

“UK is violent crime capital of Europe”

“Analysis of figures from the European Commission showed a 77 per cent increase in murders, robberies, assaults and sexual offences in the UK since Labour came to power.

The total number of violent offences recorded compared to population is higher than any other country in Europe, as well as America, Canada, Australia and South Africa.

Opposition leaders said the disclosures were a “damning indictment” of the Government’s failure to tackle deep-rooted social problems.

The figures combined crime statistics for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The UK had a greater number of murders in 2007 than any other EU country – 927 – and at a relative rate higher than most western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

It also recorded the fifth highest robbery rate in the EU, and the highest absolute number of burglaries, with double the number of offences recorded in Germany and France.

Overall, 5.4 million crimes were recorded in the UK in 2007 – more than 10 a minute – second only to Sweden.

Chris Grayling, shadow home secretary, said: “This is a real damning indictment of this government’s comprehensive failure over more than a decade to tackle the deep rooted social problems in our society, and the knock-on effect on crime and anti-social behaviour.

“We’re now on our fourth Home Secretary in this parliament, and all we are getting is a rehash of old initiatives that didn’t work the first time round. More than ever Britain needs a change of direction.”

The figures were sourced from Eurostat, the European Commission’s database of statistics. They are gathered using official sources in the countries concerned such as the national statistics office, the national prison administration, ministries of the interior or justice, and police.

A breakdown of the statistics, which were compiled into league tables by the Conservatives, revealed that violent crime in the UK had increased from 652,974 offences in 1998 to more than 1.15 million crimes in 2007.

It means there are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the UK, making it the most violent place in Europe.

Austria is second, with a rate of 1,677 per 100,000 people, followed by Sweden, Belgium, Finland and Holland.

By comparison, America has an estimated rate of 466 violent crimes per 100,000 population.

France recorded 324,765 violent crimes in 2007 – a 67 per cent increase in the past decade – at a rate of 504 per 100,000 population.

The Home Office says there has been a downtrend in overall violence for the past decade.

But last October it emerged that levels of violent crime in England and Wales had been underestimated for more than a decade because of a blunder in recording methods.

Ministers admitted that some police forces had not been recording offences of grievous bodily harm with intent as serious violent crime. When the offences were included violent crime figures immediately increased by a fifth.

Separate figures disclosed in May showed that the number of people requiring hospital treatment after being seriously hurt in street fights or assaults has risen 50 per cent in five years.

More than 20 people a day were taken to hospital accident and emergency departments in England last year after being hit, kicked, scratched or bitten. Alcohol is blamed as a factor in half of the incidents and raises further questions over 24-hour drinking.

Researchers admit that comparisons of crime data between countries must be viewed with caution because of differing criminal justice systems and how crimes are reported and measured.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “These figures are misleading. Levels of police recorded crime statistics from different countries are simply not comparable since they are affected by many factors, for example the recording of violent crime in other countries may not include behaviour that we would categorise as violent crime.

“Violent crime in England and Wales has fallen by almost a half since a peak in 1995 but we are not complacent and know there is still work to do. “”

Obama criticized by Kenyan Government for being poorly informed, History repeats with Obama gun control statements, Obama hypocrisy of thug associations

Obama criticized by Kenyan Government for being poorly informed, History repeats with Obama gun control statements, Obama hypocrisy of thug associations

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”…Barack Obama

“And the notion that somehow it’s cute or amusing, or a useful diversion, I think, is something that all of us have to recognize is just not the case. We all have First Amendment rights. And I am a constitutional lawyer and strongly believe in free speech, but as a culture, we really have to do some soul-searching to think about what kind of toxic information are we feeding our kids,”…Barack Obama

“Instead, since I have some reporting history here, I am noting a pattern that has emerged: This is Obama’s third ethical conversion of convenience — taking on a higher standard, but only when it appears to be politically expedient. Obama is making government transparency and ethics a centerpiece of his presidential campaign.”…Lynn Sweet, Chicago SunTimes

Obama has a history of hypocrisy, for blaming others for what he is guilty of. Obama associated with criminals and thugs in Chicago and even campaigned for his cousin Raila Odinga in 2006, in violation of the Logan Act.

Despite prosecutions being down for firearm attacks and the Obama Justice Department providing arms for Mexican drug lords, the Obama Administration is targeting innocent, responsible gun owners.

Here is what the Kenyan Government had to say about Obama’s hypocritical comments in 2006.

“RESPONSE TO AMERICAN SENATOR BARACK OBAMA’S POORLY INFORMED COMMENTS ABOUT TERRORISM, WANTED GENOCIDE CRIMINALS AND GOVERNANCE IN KENYA”

Senator Barack Obama indicated that he was visiting Africa to help nurture relations between the continent and the United States. His mission, therefore, was warmly welcomed by the Government and the people of Kenya. The fact that he has roots in Kenya endeared him to the people of this country. However, during his public address at the University of Nairobi, Senator Obama made extremely disturbing statements on issues which it is clear, he was very poorly informed, and on which he chose to lecture the Government and the people of Kenya on how to manage our country.

We would like to make the following facts clear:

a) Kenya is no less vulnerable to terrorism than the United States or any other country. Kenya has in the past suffered incidents of terrorism because of our friendship with the United States and not because as a people, we are less efficient in the management of our security. Indeed, his own country and other countries with higher levels of development, have had more incidences of terrorism despite their sophisticated security systems. Therefore, blaming terrorist attacks in Kenya on possible corruption is highly misplaced and insincere. Using his logic, then, it follows that the terrorist attacks in the United States and other countries are as a result of corrupt border and customs police in his own country and other countries which have experienced incidents of terrorism.

b) The allegation that wanted Rwandese genocide fugitive Felicen Kabuga may have purchased safe haven in Kenya is an insult to the people of this country and negates the fact that Kenya, Rwanda and the United Nations have an excellent track record in collaboration in the search and apprehending of Rwandese suspects. This country has turned over to the United Nations Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda the highest number of genocidal suspects for trial. For that reason also, this country cannot be a safe haven for any genocide suspect and especially Kabuga. If it was an issue of corruption money, as Senator Obama states, then the bounty of US$5 million (Kshs 365 million) being offered by the United States for the apprehension of Kabuga, would be irresistible to the alleged corrupt police. If anybody knows where Kabuga is, this Government would like to know so that we can apprehend him immediately and hand him over to the tribunal.

c) Senator Obama enjoyed the vibrant freedom of expression and wide democratic space existing in this country, during his tour. Instead of acknowledging this big leap in this country, he chose to dwell on none issues as far as the governance of this country is concerned. He ignored the fact that strengthening of democracy and institutions of Governance has been the strongest thrust of this Government. Today, every Kenyan can openly talk about and address issues of corruption without fear and associate himself or herself to any political party he or she chooses. Bold decisions have made to bring down the rate of corruption with great success. For example, the success in our fighting corruption is evidenced by the fact that Kenya is one of the best performing countries in Africa in the collection of public revenue and the economy has had a turn-around from near zero percent (0%), three years ago, to about six percent (6%) economic growth today. This cannot be achieved in a country, which Senator Obama says, is experiencing a “corruption crisis.”

d) Senator Obama also trivialized the harmony and peaceful co-existence that exists between different ethnic groups and races that live in this country, and chose to magnify tribalism as a major problem in this country.

During Senator Obama’s visit, the Government spared no effort in making his stay and travel all over the country enjoyable and fulfilling. Senator Barack Obama is welcome to come again to learn more about the country, the Government and the people of this country.

From CNN Money January 10, 2013.

“American Express to cut 5,400 jobs”

“American Express announced Thursday that it was cutting 5,400 jobs, becoming the latest large financial firm to reduce its headcount.
The company said the largest reductions would come from its travel businesses, which “operate in an industry that is being fundamentally reinvented as a result of the digital revolution.”

“One outcome of this ongoing shift to online is that we can serve a growing customer base with lower staffing levels,” AmEx CEO Kenneth Chenault said in a call with analysts. “Staying ahead of these trends has led us to redesign the model within global business travel and to continue the evolution within cardmember servicing and collections.”

While the cuts will be partially offset by the addition of new positions, American Express said it expects to see its current work force of 63,500 reduced by between 4% and 6% by the end of the year.

“Against the backdrop of an uneven economic recovery, these restructuring initiatives are designed to make American Express more nimble, more efficient and more effective in using our resources to drive growth,” Chenault said in a statement.

The company said the cuts “will be spread proportionally between the U.S. and international markets and will primarily involve positions that do not directly generate revenue.”

Shares fell about 0.7% in after-hours trading.

The news came as American Express (AXP, Fortune 500) pre-announced of its fourth-quarter results. Excluding severance costs associated with the job cuts and other special expenses, net income came in at $1.2 billion, or $1.09 a share, exceeding the prediction of $1.06 a share from analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters. Sales were $8.1 billion, in line with expectations.

Elsewhere in the industry, Morgan Stanley (AACXX) plans to eliminate 1,600 jobs in the coming weeks, a source told CNNMoney this week. Last month, Citigroup (C, Fortune 500) announced plans to cut 11,000 jobs.”

Gun Shows and Gun Buying Breaking Records, Gun prices up, Innocent people protected by guns, More Americans distrustful of government, Second Amendment right

“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”…Abraham Lincoln

Guns are a tool for me, just as a hammer and saw are. I don’t love them and I don’t hate them.

I attended the Winston Salem Gun Show on Saturday. There were many gun enthusiasts there. For me however, the thrill was that the Second Amendment is still alive and we could freely walk about and purchase guns and ammunition.

Due to supply and demand and worries about government control and increasing crime, the price of guns has gone up significantly over the past several months.

From Political Outcast January 7, 2013.

“Gun Shows and Gun Buying Breaking Records”

“Americans are becoming even more distrustful of their government. They are also fearful of a segment of society that is hell-bent on taking our lives and property. It’s bad enough that our legislators vote to steal our money. If it’s OK for politicians to act illegally, dismissing their oath to uphold the Constitution that they swore to obey, so why is it wrong for others to break into our homes and take the money directly?

The Constitution doesn’t give elected officials the authority to take our money in ever greater amounts, and yet they do it every election cycle. Street-walking thieves are using the same logic. “If Congress can violate the law, why can’t we?”

What’s different about a thief dressed in a suit and tie who votes to use the power of the State to take our money and some guy dressed in black Hoodie who creeps around in the dark to do it?

At least we can protect ourselves against the creeping thieves, but not if the government passes laws that make it illegal to buy and own guns for protection. A woman in Georgia protected herself and her children after a man broke into the house with a crowbar and began ransacking the house. The woman hid in a closet with her twin daughters but not before getting a .38-caliber revolver she kept in the house. When the intruder opened the closet door, the protective mother shot the suspect five times in the face and neck.

Since Congress and the President may try to pass laws to make us defenseless, Americans are stocking up on weapons as insurance against thieves, rapists, and murderers. That’s why we’re seeing evidence of record gun buying from Florida to California.

“Nearly 8,000 people attended the first day of the Florida Gun Shows’ exhibition this weekend in Orlando, according to event organizers.

“Crowds broke records on Saturday, and organizers said it’s possible they’ll see even larger numbers of gun enthusiasts before the weekend ends.

“Hundreds of gun buyers took vouchers that would allow them to return on Sunday because it was difficult to get into Saturday’s events.

“‘[Gun enthusiasts] are buying and they’re buying as fast as they can get them,’ said Victor Bean, promoter for Florida Gun Shows. ‘We’ve had some exhibitors who had to cancel because they didn’t have any inventory from their gun shops.’”

Most Americans do not trust the government.

It’s no wonder that even California is seeing record crowds. More than 6,000 people filled the Ontario Convention Center over the weekend in Ontario, California. This was more than double the number the Crossroads of the West Gun Show promoter expected.

“‘Nationally manufacturers can’t keep up demand for firearms or ammunition,” said Bob Templeton, with Crossroads of the West Gun Shows. ‘There’s no ammunition at stores, I’m understanding, anyway.’”

It’s OK for the Department of Homeland Security to purchase more than 200,000 rounds of ammunition, but your average law-abiding American citizen just trying to protect himself from lawless thugs may be denied the right in the future. If guns and ammunition are outlawed, only outlaws — street thugs and government agencies — will have guns and ammunition.

“‘ATF: Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms’ should be a sign on a convenience store, not a government agency.””

John Boehner Mitch McConnell Republicans should have walked away from table, Republicans support tax increases, Rhino Times January 3, 2013, Good news from NC

“The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital… the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy.”…John F. Kennedy

A tax increase to a company results in some combination of the following:
Product and service price increases.
Employee and hours cutbacks.
Reduced hiring.”…Citizen Wells

“Nearly every empirical study of taxes and economic growth published in a peer reviewed journal finds that tax increases harm economic growth,”…William McBride, Tax Foundation

Good news from NC.

Obama was defeated in NC in the 2012 election and for the first time since the 1890s, Republicans control both legislative and executive branches.

Good news reporting in NC.

From John Hammer of the Rhino Times January 3, 2013.

“The Republicans blinked and now they are toast. There is an old saying in business: If you aren’t willing to get up and walk away from the negotiating table then you’re just begging.

Obama refused to negotiate and basically said it was OK with him if they went over the fiscal cliff. We’ll never know if he was serious because House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell panicked. Whether or not Obama would have gone over the fiscal cliff is academic at this point because he did what good negotiators do – he convinced his opponents that he was willing to go over the cliff if they didn’t agree to his terms.

The negotiations by McConnell with Vice President Joe Biden got the small concession that taxes would be raised on families with incomes over $450,000. Obama wanted it to be $250,000, but it doesn’t matter because Obama got the Republicans to support tax increases.

And it’s not just a tax increase on those making over $450,000, it’s a tax increase on over 70 percent of Americans. So Obama got the Republicans to vote to raise taxes on most Americans – something they said they wouldn’t do.

Not only did Obama get Republicans to support tax increases, he got them to agree to raise spending. The deal that McConnell and Boehner voted for raises spending by nearly $4 trillion. The deal includes $1 in tax cuts for every $41 in increased taxes.

If the Republicans were going to cave like this, why bother to wait until the last minute?

The huge problem is that this leadership is done. The Democrats now know that they will cave. The Democrats have to wait until the last minute, but in the end this Republican leadership team doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude to hang in there.

It’s astounding how badly Obama beat the Republicans. First he got them to agree to this fiscal cliff deal a year ago, which was brilliant. He pushed the showdown out past the election. Obama will never run for anything again, so he really doesn’t have to worry about public opinion. Plus, he does have the media on his side. So no matter what Obama does he knows that he has the full support of the mainstream media and it will work overtime spinning everything in his direction.

However, despite the unquestioning media support, pushing the face-off out past the election gave Obama a huge advantage. The Republicans were no doubt hoping they could beat Obama at the polls in November, but they didn’t come close.

With the fiscal cliff looming and no election to worry about, Obama had a strong hand. The fiscal cliff raised taxes on everyone, something that Obama wants to do, and this way he could do it and blame it on the Republicans. The cuts included by going over the fiscal cliff may have been devastating, but half were to military spending, which Obama also wanted to do, and once again by going over the fiscal cliff he could blame it on the Republicans, which is what the press was doing.

So Obama could sit back with confidence and say, OK, either agree to my terms or I’m willing to jump off that cliff. The Republicans lost any bargaining power they might have had when they admitted to being horrified to go over the cliff. The negotiating tactic that might have worked would have been to agree with Obama that going over the cliff would not be bad and discussing how to deal with the issues that would arise, like a recession.

You’ve got to convince the other guy that you are willing to walk away from the table, and in the negotiations the Republicans convinced Obama that in the end they would cave, and they did.

Obama in the end gave up almost nothing. It doesn’t matter where you put the limit on tax increases on the wealthy because the point is not to raise money. It’s just politics. Obama has been saying that the rich don’t pay their fair share. He doesn’t give facts and figures to back this up; he just says it over and over again until people start believing it. Obama says the rich don’t pay their fair share so he wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

The Republicans have for 20 years opposed raising taxes. The Republican argument is that the problem is not that the government doesn’t have enough money, it is that the government spends too much money. The way to solve the fiscal mess according to Republicans is to reduce spending and reduce taxes. You reduce spending to lower the deficit and you reduce taxes to stimulate the economy.

Even Obama admits that reducing taxes stimulates the economy. What he hasn’t explained is why he wants to raise taxes if reducing taxes stimulates the economy. But Obama got to raise taxes on the wealthy like he wanted, and he got to increase spending by nearly $4 trillion. But he also got to raise taxes on most everybody else and to extend unemployment benefits for another year. Extending unemployment benefits encourages more people not to work, which is not what is best for the economy. But it sure is a great way for the Democrats to buy votes.

It was a win all the way around for Obama. Then he got to get on Air Force One, fly west and wake up in Hawaii. Talk about having a good week. This one is going to be hard for Obama to beat.”
