“The number of people applying for unemployment benefits fell by 5,000 in the latest week, marking the third straight drop, but there’s little evidence companies are ready to hire at a pace that would sharply reduce the nation’s high jobless rate.
In the week ended March 13, initial claims dropped to a seasonally-adjusted 457,000 from 462,000 in the prior week, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch predicted claims would subside to 455,000. See our complete economic calendar.
The four-week average of initial claims — a better gauge of employment trends than the volatile weekly number — fell by 4,250 to 471,250.”
“”Claims first reached their current level nearly four months ago, in late November, and the lack of progress since then is disconcerting,” Ian Shepherdson of High Frequency Economics wrote in an email.
Many companies are leery of hiring new workers until they see demand pick up. Some are also awaiting the outcome of legislative battles in Washington over issues such as health care, energy and taxes. Major changes in those arenas could significantly impact the cost of hiring new workers.
Jobless claims “are not yet at levels typically associated with payroll growth,” John Ryding of RDQ Economics said. Ryding estimates weekly claims would have to fall to 400,000 or lower to signify a hiring trend.
Meanwhile, the number of people who continue to get regular state unemployment checks rose by 12,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 4.58 million in the week ended March 6. That’s the most recent data available.”

OT This relates to the Census. We received ours in the mail….the address (city) was incorrect. We sent it back with a note outside enevelope that it was mailed to incorrect address. The same form was mailed back to us with a note on the envelope, that ALL were sent that way, but since the zip code was correct they were resending back to us.
I will check with some neighbors to see if they had same “wrong” city on their forms. After googling I noticed the same thing is happening in Colorado and Arizona. We live in Texas.
With all the crap going in with Gov’t, I am very suspicious of this. There are a lot of migrant workers (probably illegals) in this area and I suspect more so in the incorrect town that was listed on our form. That town is full of dairies and they tend to hire migrant workers.
I checked online and the Census bureau says to correct the city on the form and mail it in.
How can we trust them to make an accurate geographic enumeration if they can’t even get the addresses correct??

Serious Questions for Democrats
Whether you call it “a despicable trick” or simply a “creative use of parliamentary procedure” – does not the dilution of the normal operations of the legislature bother you?
You may like the current legislation and wish to see it get extra impetuous to pass, but what of the future. Cannot you see a time in the near future in which Republicans might wish to similarly expedite some legislation that you consider particularly divisive and onerous? Do you really want to set that precedent?
And what about excessive use of Executive Orders and Signing Statements by the president? Would you be equally approving of a radical Republican president taking this much power unto themselves? (Note: I disapprove of Republican presidents doing this – do you join me in disapproving your Democrats?)
Aren’t sound government concepts like strict separation of powers and significant majorities a “good thing”? For the good the nation, should not these concepts be protected at all costs? Wouldn’t it be better to even err on the safe side? To promote unity instead of internal factions and mutual hate?

I told her I knew that. I also mentioned that I voted for him. When I tried to give her specific reasons why the Senate Bill would harm our system rather than reform it, she refused to listen. She said she was very busy and hung up on me. Being the persistent person that I am, I kept calling back. Each time I tried to finish my point, she hung up.

The United States of America is great for a number of reasons. Its commitment to liberty, dedication to charity, defense of its friends and freedom around the globe, historical reliance on the individual and on free markets, and in my opinion, national reverence for the Almighty, are among those things that make our nation the greatest the world has ever known. But perhaps second only to our collective Faith in God – our commitment to the rule of law sets us apart and serves as the foundation for our strength and prosperity. One need not look any farther than our southern neighbors in Mexico to see what the world looks like when the rule of law is abandoned.
In America, the rule of law is under direct attack. And unfortunately the frontal assault comes primarily from the President of the United States, the Attorney General, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to name a few.
Example #1: The President and the Attorney General fraudulently and recklessly declare that terrorists can and should be convicted in civilian courts, yet will not say what will happen if these terrorists are found innocent – saying only that “this will not happen.” (see, e.g. Andy McCarthy here, and generally). By doing so, they make a mockery of the very rule of law they pretend to be protecting – and they weaken our national security in the process.
Example #2: The President and the Speaker of the House are on the verge of colluding to pass a bill that will effectively nationalize 1/6 of our economy, turn our personal healthcare decisions over to bureaucrats, spend trillions of dollars – and they will do so without actually having passed the bill in both Houses. Even if one doesn’t think this is unconstitutional in the sense one might get the Court to strike it down (though sue we should – and kudos to Mark Levin and Landmark Legal for preparing to do so) – it definitively, most assuredly, turns the Constitution and the rule of law on its head – and dangerously so.
Suffice it to say that President Obama and his minions arrogantly and callously barrel full steam ahead with total reckless disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law – and it’s not just our national security and healthcare that is at stake. It is our very way of life. The rule of law cannot be compartmentalized – when we weaken it in one respect, we weaken it in all respects – and thus property rights, faith in our system of justice, belief in our elected leaders and virtually every link between citizen and government is destroyed.
So what to do? We continue to fight and we fight harder. We fight this weekend (see gopcodered and call Congress). We fight in the Senate. We get our states to pass laws contrary to this unconstitutional intrusion by the national government (see: 30 states have taken or are taking action… do more). We sue – and sue in multiple places for multiple reasons (see, e.g. Levin above, VA AG Ken Cucinelli preparing to sue, and numerous other states as well). We crush democrats in the fall (give money to conservative candidates like Marco Rubio, Mike Lee in Utah over establishmentarian and pro-government healthcare Bob Bennett), we repeal it (see: http://www.repealit.org)– and most of all, we all simply say, “hell no.”
Like most Americans, I am committed to God, to liberty, to self-reliance and to taking care of my loved ones as I see fit. No one – and I really mean NO ONE – will ever get in the way of those things. I will fight with every ounce of my being to be able to give to my son his birthright – that of being an American – and to have that mean something. I will not allow a self-absorbed, narcissistic fool hell bent on creating a totalitarian state not even in the name of compassion, but rather, in the name of himself, to destroy the rule of law, and thus the nation. I called one more time. This time she said, “If you call one more time, we will notify Capital Police.” I asked why my conduct warranted involving federal law enforcement agents. She said I was “harassing” her. I tried to explain that trying to convince a representative to change his or her vote didn’t constitute “harassment.” Before I could fully explain, she hung up again.
I called back. This time, I asked to speak to her supervisor in order to report her repeated hanging up as well as the threat she made. I was placed on hold. Thinking I was holding for her supervisor, I was shocked when a Federal Agent with the Capital Police picked-up the telephone.
At first, the Agent was curt with me. He claimed I was harassing Mr. Garamendi’s staff by continually calling after being told to stop calling. I asked him when it became a federal crime to lobby a congressman. He said that it wasn’t but it was a crime to “harass” congressional members and staff pursuant to 47 U.S.C. 223. I told him I was an attorney (which I am) and that I would research the statute he had cited.
After researching 47 U.S.C. 223, I called Mr. Garamendi’s office again and asked to be transferred back to the Capital Police Agent. The Agent picked up the phone and I explained to him that the statute he cited was not controlling since it only prohibits people from calling with the specific intent to harass. I further explained that I was simply trying to voice my concerns with the intent of getting Mr. Garamendi to change his mind, not to harass his staff. The Agent eventually agreed with my position and said he would call Mr. Garamendi’s office and instruct his staff that I was within my rights to call my congressman and voice my concerns.
After I hung up, I realized that this story should be told. Besides being an attorney, I’ve also had the privilege of serving this great country in the United States Marine Corps. Having seen the ugly legislative process the Senate Bill had been through, I saw this as not just another tactic to pass the Senate Bill at all costs, but also as an affront to our liberties.
While I’m fortunate enough to be able to legally challenge what happened today, others aren’t. The sad part is the democrats know this. They know that Americans unfamiliar with federal jurisprudence can easily be silenced when threats to involve federal agents are made. They know that most Americans don’t want trouble and they’ll go away rather than face the possibility of having to explain themselves to federal agents. That’s why I found this tactic appalling, as a Marine, as an attorney and as a proud American.
During my final contact with Mr. Garamendi’s staff, it was confirmed to me that he would vote for the Senate Bill no matter what. I was told that I was wasting my time by calling. Mr. Garamendi is a junior member of the House of Representatives. He was just elected via a special election last November. He has made it clear that he is willing to forsake his constituents in order to please the Speaker of the House.
Speaker Pelosi has said that she will stop at nothing to get the Senate Bill passed. She publicly stated that she would “pole vault over a wall” if barriers stood in her way. While that may be an amusing spectacle, it is indicative of what happened to me today. Apparently, threatening Americans with federal crimes to silence them is the latest tool in Speaker Pelosi’s dirty bag of tricks.
In the coming days, I’m sure more stories will develop illustrating the “win at all costs” tactics being employed by democrats. It’s these tactics that have appalled a majority of Americans to the point that the Senate Bill has overwhelmingly been rejected by the American people. When we try to explain that to Speaker Pelosi’s Caucus, we are threatened with criminal sanctions. We are told to shut up or face federal agents. Such treatment may be acceptable in the former Soviet Union, but it’s repulsive in the country I love and served. Is this hope and change?
When I awakened this morning the word,
“coup de tat” came to mind, because of something
I had read last eve. The definition is, “sudden
overthrow of a government by a usually small
group of persons.”
The article read last eve. mentioned that we
are experiencing a coup de tat by the executive
and legislative branch (P and R) who are trying
to take control in a non-military, non-violent
way by circumventing the Constitution.
What scares me is a statement to the effect that
“they” plan to use these underhanded tactics
with other legislation. For example, cap & trade,
amnesty for illegals, etc. They don’t need to
abide by the rules, in their minds. If someone
doesn’t stop this, someday we are going to wake
up and realize that we are under a full-blown
dictatorship.

I would pray and trust that the good, conserva-

Obama-Pelosi and Reid assume the control of the government-fair means and foul (99 per cent foul) via what ever instrument Health Care Reform-on any given day-any old name will do with them. Did they ever consider a huge question mark? Who will control the American people who have now seen them at their very worst? Lies, bribes, stealth invented “rules” Slaughter (pretending something like this has been used before-in this manner). Change the three of them want, contrary to the will of most Americans who have voiced this position for almost a year-over and over again.
Voted out in November will be the least of their problems-the word Democrat will be synonymous with Pariah of the First Order.

…The film opens when an Iranian reporter (Jim Caviezel) based in France has car trouble as he passes through a quiet Iranian village. Sure, the mechanic can fix his car, but it will take a couple of hours. As he waits, he is approached by a haunted-looking woman, Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in The House of Sand and Fog), who tells him she has a story she must tell him urgently. The men in the village order her to stay away from him, but she manages to meet with him and the story she tells is both horrifying and shocking.
Her niece, Soraya (Mozhan Marno), was murdered the day before by the men in her village. In their justice system, she was found guilty of adultery and was given the punishment: death by stoning. This would be awful enough, if it were true. But Zahra tells a far more complicated story. Soraya’s husband, Ali (Navid Negahban), wanted to divorce her and marry a 14-year-old girl (he gets the girl’s parents’ permission for the match because her father has been accused of a crime and Ali promises to get him out of jail). But Soraya must agree to a not-very-generous offer of support for her and her four children that Ali proposes and she refuses. The mullah (Ali Pourtash) comes to her, trying to bully her into taking it, and offers another incentive – she can become his mistress by a loophole called temporary marriage and he will help support her.
She is disgusted by this and tells off the cleric. Her enraged husband [USURPER] now has the support of [CONGRESS] the local religious authority, and they persuade the [MEDIA] mayor that she must be found guilty of a crime. Since she is helping out the recently widowed local mechanic, the father of a disabled boy, they press the mechanic into confessing to an affair with her. He knows it is wrong – but they threaten to take away his son and place him in a poorly run state mental hospital.
Now the die is cast. No appeal is possible, and no one listens to her. The last third of the film is an excruciating account of the stoning. Everything you see, including the circus troupe coming along during the stoning and then playing music as it goes on, is from the account in the book. All the men in the village really were cheering as they stoned her. My responsibility is to tell this story as honestly and truthfully as I can.”
What is most fascinating in the film are the details of how ordinary men become complicit in the ghastly murder of a blameless woman [AMERICA] whom they have known their entire lives. “It’s very much about mob rule. “There are two huge demonstrations that have been scheduled for months involving demonstrators that will not see eye-to-eye with Tea Party activists.”
First there is the International ANSWER anti-war demonstration tomorrow, Saturday, the 20th. The organizers are primarily Marxists, labor union, immigrant advocates and Muslim activists. They are an angry group often calling themselves anarchists (although they don’t understand the definition of anarchist!).
Also, happening this weekend on Sunday is a demonstration expected to draw tens of thousands of Open Borders advocates with a large contingent of immigrant marchers. This demonstration has also been organized for some time by this front group of George Soros and the Tides Foundation. It involves many church groups—Catholics, Lutherans and the crop walk people—Church World Service. Obviously I wouldn’t expect them to be threatening but they are also being organized by LABOR UNIONS (we have seen what their thugs can do) and I suspect that many of the “anarchists” from the Saturday demonstration will be staying over to help their immigrant advocate friends.”
I’m thinking I may give up my citizenship and tell them all to go you know where. Bunch of Kooks.! That way I won’t have to pay anything!

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Top prosecutors in South Carolina and Florida said Friday they are ready to sue if health care reform legislation passes this weekend as expected.
South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster said he and Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum will file a federal lawsuit challenging the bill’s constitutionality.
“We are ready to kill it,” McMaster said. “When the national government and Congress start going wild, it’s up to the states to rein them in.”
The U.S. House plans to vote on the plan Sunday. McMaster and McCollum will argue that it violates state sovereignty because it requires that all Americans have some form of health insurance

Isn’t it supposed to be just about springtime now? In Florida last week, I heard no end to grousing about how it’s been the coldest winter in memory. Back in Washington where there are still piles of snow left over from last month’s Snowmageddon, everyone is looking forward to three inches of cold rain and flooding this weekend.
Enough already. Enough of crazy cold weather – and enough of crazy Democrat politics. The political climate on Capitol Hill is so bad now that certain GOP Senators and Congressmen are privately (although not publicly) expressing a genuine worry about the sanity of the President of the United States.
Zero’s obsession with “health care reform” is being likened to the deranged Captain Ahab’s obsession with harpooning the White Whale in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. That didn’t turn out so well for Ahab.
To compound their concern, Zero began yet again this week (3/10) demanding “climate change legislation” that would “cap greenhouse gas emissions” – acting as if the unending exposure of ClimateGate frauds never happened.
The common image the Capitol Hill GOP invokes is to joke about the Democrats’ “circular firing squad.” Yet there is real concern behind the jokes. “Neither Obama nor Reid nor Pelosi is playing with a full deck anymore,” one Senator tells me.

No matter, though-the fact that they were on board with him since he was (illegally) sworn in is the death knell for them.
I e-mailed Rep. Niki Tsongas’ office during lunch and told her it wouldn’t be too early to get her resume posted on monster.com; I told her she’s gonna need it come November and that it’s a tough job market. She *should* take that to heart…

I hope this helps-Nancy comes under Automatic Excommunication and” One who actually procures an abortion and all accomplices ” not only is she an accomplice but she is responsible for every abortion due to her legislature. My guess is that Pelosi has had an abortion,and her church found out about it.That is why the excommunication in my own view.

That’s possible old salt, but if she went to confession and was contrite and did penance she could be forgiven. I believe Nancy had 6 children. So many women in the anti-abortion movement had abortions themselves and are genuinely sorry, and are actively promoting Right to Life. One of the most famous is the girl from Roe v Wade-she had the baby and now she is a Right to Life spokesperson.
