Republican Scott Brown has defeated Democrat Martha Coakley to win the MA senate seat held for many years by Ted Kennedy. With 87% of the vote in, Brown leads Coakley 52 to 47%. Even before the election results, it was clear that Scott Brown was doing many things right in his campaign.

“Brown Campaign Could Provide Blueprint for Future GOP Success”
“For GOP candidate Scott Brown to surge in Massachusetts, a state that hasn’t sent a Republican to the Senate since 1972 and is represented entirely by Democrats in Congress, he must have done something right.
And the Republican Party should be taking notes, analysts say, to try to replicate his strategy in races across the country in a year when GOP candidates are thought to be starting out with the upper hand.
Win or lose, the Massachusetts state senator proved that a Republican can be competitive in the bluest of states or districts.
“Every Republican long shot in America — for House seats, Senate seats, gubernatorial contests, is going to shout in unison – Remember Scott Brown,” said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics.”
“But Brown practiced a certain practical conservatism in his campaign which appealed to voters, not unlike Chris Christie in the race for New Jersey governor and Bob McDonnell in the race for Virginia governor.
By concentrating on fiscal issues and focusing his criticism on the national Obama administration agenda, Republicans said, Brown brought himself to the verge of an upset.
“The lesson I take away from Massachusetts, win or lose, and New Jersey and Virginia prior to that, is there is no penalty to be paid for opposing the Obama agenda,” said GOPAC Chairman Frank Donatelli. “All three of these elections were nationalized.”
He said GOP candidates have to stand for something and they can’t just present themselves as the anti-Obama candidate. But he said Brown achieved this balance — noting that Brown, an Army reservist and seasoned state legislator, hardly came out of nowhere.”
“He said Brown did well by not presenting himself as a Washington Republican. Driving around the state in his pickup truck, Brown referred to himself as a “Scott Brown Republican” in what appeared to be an appeal to independents. Instead of dragging out the party brass to support him, Brown enlisted figures like former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and actor John Ratzenberger.
“People don’t want lockstep,” Feehery said. “They want independent thought and somebody who’s going to be an independent check on Obama.””

That is all the time that Scott Brown needs. He is perfectly timed to run for the POTUS in 2012. Based upon his win tonight it is perfectly conceivable that he could win the POTUS with Sarah Palin as VP candidate. He already has more experience than Soetoro. I believe that if he behaves himself as US Senator that he could take a run at the POTUS in 2012, and win. If not 2012 then certainly in 2016, again with Palin as VP candidate, or conversely with Newt Gingrich, or Alan Keyes, as optional VP candidates. These are candidates who are not known to be in the “progressive”camp.

Therefore, this is a time of rejoicing for Scott Brown. Like everyone else, he’s a human being and humans are prone to weaknesses. Some can hold up their honor; some can’t hold up their honor, but we don’t know who will or who won’t.
And, jbjd, why not just rejoice and be glad while you and I have the time to do so. We could be blown away tonight by a meteorite. Or anything! If you waste your time to anticipate something that may or may not happen with bad things, then you are wasting your time being sad. Scrap your current health care bill and start from scratch. We all want true reform, but government mandated insurance is not it. Scott Brown campaigned against this top-down bureaucratic mess. We need common sense solutions like reforming malpractice laws, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, giving individual purchasers the same tax benefits as those who get coverage through their employers, and letting small businesses pool together to provide insurance for their employees. Focus your efforts on jobs, not on job-killing legislation. Such a change in approach would show Americans that you’re listening.
My best wishes to Senator-Elect Brown. When you go to Washington, may you never forget the ordinary citizens you met while driving that truck through the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Good news for Scott Brown and citizens of MA tonight. Much better news for Haiti. Seems like everyone is in a tent there, our soldiers, our reporters and the Haitian people. More supplies being distributed, the Hospital Ship has arrived.
The Haitian people that are able are leaving for other parts of the island-family-friends. I don’t know if it was the reporters imagination but they can still feel the earth shaking a little bit. At night when it gets dark and quiet the Haitian people sing. Every contribution-dollars, military, rescue teams are very much appreciated by the people. One report said they will be looking for foster homes for the little ones.
Lt Col Scott strongly derided giving rights to captured combatants and paying for lawyers to defend them rather than weapons to fight them. He will likely join Senator Graham’s effort to curtail funding for criminal trials in NYC. Holder and the Usurper may have to retreat.

Tonight a large percentage of the people of Massachussetts said that they have had enough of the Kennedys. All of their anger was clearly demonstrated tonight. It is only the first shot in the Revolution which began tonight. The shot will indeed be heard around the world. We now have our work cut out for us. This was only a small battle. We need to win the war. This will happen in 2012, or perhaps earlier if we are rewarded with certain information that is needed to expedite the war, and prosecute the perpetrators for their high crimes against America’s Constitution.
Well just got home from victory party. This is just the beginning. Scott is a voice that will shake up the good old boys club in

I think so too…..I was thinking maybe a Brown/Palin ticket in 2012???? They were even talking about having him give the rebuttal to the FRAUD’S state of the union speech…..I think it would be fantastic……Brown is very bold and not afraid of the FRAUD…..in other words he doesn’t hold him up as some esteem politician…..Brown could debate the FRAUD and make him squirm….just like he did CROAKley!!!!

I don’t know, I hate to rush things like that, amd I kinda want Mass. to enjoy its new, competent senator. But, clearly, Brown has that X factor. He is personable without the use of a ‘teleprompter”, he showed that he is willing to let his guard down, because he is a real person, not some manufactured image. This is very refreshing. This man will have an interesting future, and his family is just lovely.
