Rick Perry leads Obama, Rasmussen Poll, September 1, 2011, 44 percent to 41 percent

Rick Perry leads Obama, Rasmussen Poll, September 1, 2011, 44 percent to 41 percent

From Rasmussen September 1, 2011.

“Perry 44% Obama 41%; President Leads Other GOP Hopefuls”

“For the first time this year, Texas Governor Rick Perry leads President Obama in a national Election 2012 survey. Other Republican candidates trail the president by single digits.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows Perry picking up 44% of the vote while the president earns support from 41%. Given the margin of sampling error (+/- 3 percentage points) and the fact that the election is more than a year away, the race between the two men is effectively a toss-up. Just over a week ago, the president held a three-point advantage over Perry. (To see question wording, click here.)

Perry leads by nine among men but trails by five among women. Among voters under 30, the president leads while Perry has the edge among those over 30. The president leads Perry by 16 percentage points among union members while Perry leads among those who do not belong to a union.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney currently trails the president by four percentage points, 43% to 39%. That’s a slight improvement for the Republican compared to a week ago. Earlier in the year, Romney held a one-point edge when matched against the president. Prior to today’s release, that was the only time a named Republican has held any kind of lead over President Obama. A Generic Republican currently leads the president 48% to 40%.

If Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is the GOP candidate, the president leads 46% to 38%. Unlike Perry and Romney, Bachmann’s numbers are a bit weaker now than they were a week ago.

Finally, if the Republicans were to nominate businessman Herman Cain, President Obama would attract 42% of the vote to Cain’s 35%. (Want a free daily e-mail update? If it’s in the news, it’s in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The match-up surveys of 1,000 Likely Voters were conducted August 23-30, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error for the surveys is +/- 3% with a 95% level of confidence.  Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.”

Rasmussen poll, March 24, 2008, Obama slipping in polls, Wright speech impact

The impact of pastor Jeremiah Wright and his racist and hate sermons coupled with the 20 year association with Barack Obama is taking a toll on Obama’s election campaign. Here are the Rasmussen poll results for March 24, 2008:

“Nationally, Hillary Clinton now holds a very slight advantage over Barack Obama, 46% to 44%.”

John McCain leads Barack Obama 50% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 49% to 42%.

In North Carolina John McCain leads Hillary Clinton 50% to 34%. McCain leads Barack Obama 51% to 42%. McCain is viewed favorably by 62% of NC voters. Obama is viewed favorably by 48%, Clinton is viewed favorably by 38%.

Obama slipping in polls? Obama Racist? Racist pastor Jeremiah Wright hurting Obama, Rasmussen poll

Barack Obama’s long time association with pastor Jeremiah Wright is hurting his bid for the democratic nomination. Obama has recently denounced Jeremiah Wright and his racist, anti semitic and anti American rhetoric. The damage has been done. Obama cannot erase years of listening to and remaining silent about pastor Wright’s opinions. Barack Obama is slipping in popularity and in the polls.

My unscientific poll shows more people believe Obama is racist. Here are the results today:

Is Barack Obama a Racist?

Yes            64 %
No             27 %
Not sure     9 %

Below are the latest results from the Rasmussen polling organization:

“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows John McCain with a six-percentage point lead over both potential Democratic opponents. McCain currently leads Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton by an identical 48% to 42% margin. McCain has a double-digit lead over Clinton among unaffiliated voters and is essentially even with Obama among those same voters. However, McCain makes greater inroads among Democrats with Obama as the nominee.”

“The dialogue about Wright’s controversial comments appears to have had at least a short-term impact on public perceptions of Barack Obama. The Illinois Senator is viewed favorably today by just 47% of voters nationwide. That’s down five points since last Thursday (see recent daily results). The number with an unfavorable view of Obama has risen from 44% on Thursday to 50% today. Among White voters, Obama is now viewed favorably by 43% and unfavorably by 54%.”
