“Records Contradict Testimony by Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez”
“Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has forced disclosure of the existence of documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicating Democratic election lawyer Sam Hirsch was involved in the DOJ decision to dismiss its voting rights case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense. The records, described in a Vaughn index produced pursuant to a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, contradict sworn testimony by Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, who testified before the U.S. Civil Rights Commission that no political leadership was involved in the decision (Judicial Watch v. Department of Justice (No. 10-851)).
The “Vaughn index” describes documents responsive to the lawsuit currently being withheld in their entirety by the Justice Department. The index details a series of emails between Assistant Deputy Attorney General Steve Rosenbaum and Deputy Associate Attorney General Sam Hirsch, who was described by Slate magazine as a “DC election lawyer who represents a lot of Democrats” prior to joining the Justice Department.
The index describes eight email exchanges between Rosenbaum and Hirsch, taking place on April 30, 2009, the day before the Justice Department reversed course and declined to pursue much of the Black Panther case. Listed among the email correspondence:
An “Email Chain with Attachments” from Rosenbaum to Hirsch dated April 30, 2009: The email chain includes “…a detailed response and analysis of the proposed draft filings in NBPP (New Black Panther Party) litigation…The response includes a candid assessment of legal research and raises questions about the case law and proposed relief….This document also contains attorney discussion, opinions, and analyses of the draft documents and case law.”
The records disclosed to Judicial Watch seemingly contradict testimony by Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights on May 14, 2010. The Commission, an independent, bipartisan unit of the federal government charged with investigating and reporting on civil rights issues, initiated a probe of the Justice Department’s decision to drop its lawsuit. During the hearing, Perez was asked directly regarding the involvement of political leaders in the decision to dismiss the Black Panther case.”

Out of curiosity I typed “pravda” into my search engine,and in a course of about 3 seconds I was in the Pravda site. I cancelled it .and done it again just to be sure. It opened the pravda site even quicker this time. There is some other problem that the poster must be experiencing.

Thanks oldsalt-this is what is showing on google searches, so people will not click on the story I imagine, so I used Yahoo and surprise no problem. It seems that some nefarious, devious person added the line “This site may harm your computer”. I put this up here so Dr. Sam could send to Dmitry if needs be-to me another example of games being played.

I’m beginning to think the reason they are pretending to hide his school records is that they don’t exist in the first place. Now is really strange. I can’t figure it out. Why would I dream THAT? Usually if “god” bestows a vision on a “prophet”, said “god” wants said “prophet” to go out and preach the vision and explain it. Well, I was given no explanation – just the vision.

BP and the government decided that millions of gallons of dispersants should be dumped into the Gulf to sink and hide the oil.
They succeeded in sinking it. As ABC, CBS and NPR note, huge quantities of oil are blanketing the ocean floor, killing virtually all of the sealife which lives there.
And giant new underwater plumes have been found in the water column itself.
But officials don’t want to hear about them. As one member of the oil spill recovery team said:
“My biggest concern is there’s [a plume of oil] five miles by 30 miles out there that was reported and no one responded. The Coast Guard said for days that they wanted to run tests, and if they don’t test it when it’s called in, they’ll never find it”

NG just arrived my doorstep yesterday – an edition heavily featuring the Gulf Oil Spill – complete with big foldout map.
If anything the NG leans heavily toward the ecoterrorist platform – they are still shilling the BS AGW nonsense, for instance. So I would say that there reportage drives a stake at the left boundary of credibility. Whatever the truth turns out to be and the outyear impact is very likely to be at least some better than what they describe.
Many of you will like a break from the continued posting of hysteria on this blog. You will find the NG reportage refreshing in that it is considerably to the right of the doomsday stuff we are inundated with daily, hourly.
(I find it incredible that the one who complains most loudly about Obots “stirring things up” is the only one who is chumming the waters on this particular issue. It does not help anybody at all to post stuff for which you have no expertise and no ability to critically review. Although there may be some nuggets of truth, it is impossible to sort them out from the BS. If I want hysteria, I can go read A. Higgins or A. Jones myself. I don’t need it posted and reposted and rereposted here.)
Not knowing all the details myself, but being able to smell BS a mile away, I was very pleased to get the NG edition to lay it all out and put things in perspective.
One of the maps is especially revealing. It shows the extent of the oil spill. While there is much damage and hundreds of miles of polluted coastline, the map reminds us what a big place the gulf is. The extent of the spill that the NG identifies is about as big, in relation, as to where a kid may have peed in a backyard pool. I was also delighted to see that none of the oil has reached the huge (as big as FL itself) famous plateau off the west coast of Florida. And certainly none of it has reached even South Florida, let alone anything at all up the Atlantic seaboard.
I highly recommend this edition of this magazine to any one wanting to start to pull the truth out of the background noise and hiss. Or you can just read here and feast on noise and hiss. Up to you.

Thanks for your comments re. National Geographic. I am getting very tired of the posting of videos that don’t really give much of an identity, date or any tie-in to other sources that we could feel more assured about being credible.
I don’t for one minute feel that there haven’t been health problems resulting from spraying, etc., but there are several things that we CAN be assured of:
1) Obama is a master of deceit. While so much attention is being focused on the gulf disaster by some on this blog and other sites, he is pulling off more evil of a different sort even as we speak. Watch what the other hand is doing.
2) Obama is trying to kill any future development of US oil drilling capacity. This gulf disaster, regardless of the cause, is fitting perfectly into his scheme to cause the public to resist offshore drilling for years to come.
3) Not only are there going to probably be long-term health repercussions, but the harm done to the economy of the gulf states will be horrific. Thousands of jobs will be lost if Obama is successful in keeping the drilling out. That aspect must not be overlooked, because it is significant. BTW, the price of gasoline? Hmmm,….we have yet to see the final effects on that item.

It takes a lot of faith to believe that. The vast oceans are so extensive that a relatively small portion of our Gulf itself would be simply a drop in a lake. Whoever is trying to make us believe that this is going around the world is pulling our leg. The question that we should be asking, “Why is this event in Pakistan being linked to our gulf?” Is this fear-mongering only, or are there other motives? Honestly, I cannot tell. But I do know it is utter nonsense.

You are absolutely correct. The “not letting a crisis go to waste” element of this is huge beyond all comprehension. Free Speech likes to say that Zero caused all this. That has not been proven and may be true or not, I don’t know. But in many ways, that pales in comparison to their actions after the fact. Ranging from unwise use of chemicals, to failures of cleanup, to the drilling ban.
If anyone pumps the hysteria from this too hard, it will usher in the worst energy and economic disaster in the history of the planet. I have read everything Scientific Report that I could find on the bo/bp Corexit/Oil POISONING of the Gulf and Atlantic from the most knowledgeable Scientists at UGA FSU USF USM UM UF USA TULANE LSU UCSB TEXAS A&M UNH UNC among others and by far the most troubling are the reports from the U. of Colorado about the bo/bp destruction of the Gulf Loop Current.

This new tidbit is so bizarre as to be laughable. The oil and the loop current have nothing directly to do with each other. The only way the loop current ever came up in the first place is because it was proposed that if the oil drifted far enough south, then the loop current could accelerate the flow of the oil around the tip of FL and up the eastern seaboard.
The oil is so far away from the loop current that this never happened. So since that scare evaporated, not wanting a good concept to go to waste, these numbnuts turn the situation 180 degrees around and say the oil is going to disturb the loop current? Just bizarre. If the oil isn’t close enough for the loop current to affect IT, sure as hell ain’t close enough for IT to affect the loop current.
But you watch – some nitwit congressman will jump on this and actually get some government funding sent to them. Mission accomplished!
On the other hand, there is a WEE chance that I could be wrong – but I would rather wait and read about it in the NG or SciAm. I’m weird that way, I don’t like money grubbers and dilettantes dictating my science to me.

It seems that the Fellowship of the Minds blog took it a bit further by discussing the remedy. I am familiar with more of jbjd’s later work and so don’t know if she covered that exact point about the Hawaii Dem Party’s failure to have the constitutional phrase. She probably has, because she has examined the eligibility issue inside and out from the states’ perspective.
