US Justice Department corruption in Blagojevich trial, Real Blagojevich trial news
I was rereading a US Justice Department document yesterday, the Press Release dated April 2, 2009, that announced the Superceding Indictment of Blagojevich. I encountered a section that caught my attention as I read it with a new perspective. To me it appears a bit Orwellian, an attempt to rewrite history. I am asking for Zach, legal eagles and other astute observers to read this section and compare it to what was in the Criminal Complaint and what the US Justice Dept. knew much earlier. Give me your take on it.
From the Press release.
“The indictment adds several new allegations to those that were lodged in the criminal complaint filed in December when Blagojevich and Harris were arrested. It includes the previous factual allegations that Blagojevich conspired to sell or trade Illinois’ U.S. Senate seat formerly held by President Obama; threatened to withhold substantial state assistance to the Tribune Company in connection with the sale of Wrigley Field to induce the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members sharply critical of Blagojevich; and schemed to obtain campaign contributions in exchange for official actions – both historically and in a push late last year before a new state ethics law took effect.
Among the new factual allegations are that:
- beginning in 2002 and continuing after Blagojevich was first elected
governor, Blagojevich and Monk, along with Kelly and previously convicted
co-schemer Antoin “Tony” Rezko, agreed that they would use the offices of
governor and chief of staff for financial gain, which would be divided among
them with the understanding that the money would be distributed after
Blagojevich left public office; - in 2003, Blagojevich, Monk, Kelly, Rezko and other co-schemers
implemented this agreement by directing lucrative state business relating to
the refinancing of billions of dollars in State of Illinois Pension Obligation
Bonds to a company whose lobbyist agreed to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars to Rezko out of the fee the lobbyist would collect, and Rezko in turn agreed to split the money with Blagojevich, Monk and Kelly; - After it became public that Kelly and Rezko were under investigation and ceased playing a significant role in raising campaign funds, Blagojevich personally continued to trade his actions as governor for personal benefits, including, for example, delaying a state grant to a publicly-supported school while trying to leverage a U.S. Congressman, who supported the school, or the Congressman’s brother, to hold a campaign fundraiser for Blagojevich; and
- in an interview on March 16, 2005, Blagojevich lied to FBI agents when he said that he maintains a separation, or firewall, between politics and state business; and he does not track, or want to know, who contributes to him or how much they are contributing to him.

The title doesn’t do justice to the statments and topic. The insight into the minds of the liberals in the media is amazing; they believed it was acceptable to prevert the media and bury the truth because the alternative to Obama was being ruled by “racists and warmongers and criminals”
What is fascinating is that the Media members hid the truth from the American people, which is morally and ethically wrong, to put in power Obama. Obama has proven himself and his administration to be Racists, and criminals (see your above discussion), and warmongers (Just more incompetent that under republicans)
This is classic “I’m smarter than you and know what is best” thinking. Democracy and Freedom cannot exist if the Media is corrupt. Everyone needs to expose these people and hold them accountable.

Last week, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, proposed an amendment to the CLEAR Act to require an end to the President’s moratorium on deepwater offshore drilling. Twenty-two of the committee’s congressmen, including the committee chairman and two other Democrats, voted in favor of Rep. Cassidy’s amendment. Twenty-one congressmen, all Dems, voted no.
But the recorded vote was 22 Yea, 26 Nea. The moratorium stands.
How did 21 Nea votes get tallied as 26? Easy. The committee’s membership contains no less than five “non-voting delegates”, all of them Democrats. So, effectively, the deepwater drilling moratorium that will devastate the States of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama was kept in place by delegates from Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Virgin Islands and the Northern Marianas Islands.
So over 10% of the votes on this key committee go to extra-Constitutional delegates from territories whose residents aren’t U.S. citizens, can’t vote for President, and pay no Federal tax.

Maybe Blago’s best defense might be to go for a jury pardon. Was it Don King would was brought up on tax evasion charges and when he was acquitted by the jury he sent them all on a cruise? The next time he was charged, the jury did the same thing.

The Democrats have enough votes in the Senate to confirm Elena Kagan. The only way that Republicans can stop the confirmation from going forward is through a filibuster. In the past, Republicans have been reluctant to use a filibuster to stop the confirmation of a Supreme Court nominee. The only way they will do so now is if they hear from enough of their constituents to feel the heat.

I just checked and found that the Chicago Sun-Times reported in this evening’s edition that the Blago defense did not plan to call any witnesses and rest their case. Blago’s brother did give some testimony, it appears. What are the predictions now?
This whole Blago trial has been a mockery of justice…there never was an honest effort to get to the bottom of the chicago corruption…because Obama was at the center….
This trial will end and Blago will walk…Obama will never be exposed and the US Justice Department will cry aloud “justice has been served”

While I disagree with Fitzpatrick and Huff regarding trying to make ill-advised citizens arrests, I do not believe for a minute that either one of them had anything to do with the murder of Mr. Miller. As Mr. Williams wrote they had no motive being that Mr. Miller was one of the “good guys,” and a Republican.
Again I urge all Patriots to contact Tennessee Republican Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker about the murder of Mr. Miller. I suspect that it will be found that boCohorts were behind the murder. They have the motive of trying to coverup their crimes in Monroe County.
Mr. Miller was probably going to purge the voter rolls of deceased and ineligible voters, and Obama found out.
Antonin Scalia, in the 2004 case of Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, wrote an Opinion (joined by Justice Stevens) arguing that it was unconstitutional for the U.S. Government merely to imprison (let alone kill) American citizens as “enemy combatants”; instead, they argued, the Constitution required that Americans be charged with crimes (such as treason) and be given a trial before being punished.
The full Hamdi Court held that at least some due process was required before Americans could be imprisoned as “enemy combatants.”
Yet now, Barack Obama is claiming the right not merely to imprison, but to assassinate far from any battlefield, American citizens with no due process of any kind.
The Obama White House has now expressly authorized the CIA to kill al-Alwaki no matter where he is found, no matter his distance from a battlefield. On U.S. soil?

I am mad as hell about the oil mess in Louisiana because our President did not address this catastrophe with any zeal or with any sense of urgency. Barrak Obama is a profoundly convincing speaker. Yes can he speak but does he ever listen.
Moreover BP was able to get away with not only destroying a significant area of our national environmental treasure in Louisiana; they once again through negligence caused the death of eleven workers with impunity.
The oil spill has put millions of people out of work. Our President had several choices the first couple days after the initial explosion. Unfortunately he chose to do nothing. That is to say, he could’ve deployed every able unemployed man and woman to assist with the clean up. He could’ve deployed every available oil skimmer. He could have removed BP from the helm of the clean up process and employed a company that specializes in oil clean up. To be sure BP is a oil drilling company which makes a clear distinction from oil clean up and spill stoppage. It is likely that President fell victim to his own ego and didn’t get help in making decisions.
Many people are now asking: how has BP been able to get away with destroying so many areas in our country and how has BP been able to get away with negligently causing the deaths of dozens of people, and how has BP been able to get away with being cited for negligence more than all other oil companies combined and remain a vital business? Part of the reason was Barak Obama while running for president was so alluring with regards to the promise of change and the promise that his administration would not be noted for being “business as usual”.
Obama’s countrymen and most senators and other elected officials as well as the citizens are not being heard.
Many are sickened by the ongoing tragedy in Louisiana and want to be heard. Moreover, the press now is joining the chorus of those among the ranks of the unheard. A good leader hears the chorus and takes action, He/ She listens to others.
Hindsight is twenty, twenty and now that the oil spill has at least been stopped and now we can say: No Obama was wrong. We can say he should have acted with a sense of intention as a leader. He could have lifted this country up instead of bringing it down. A leader is not a leader by his position. A leader is a leader by the quality that overflows in his heart, and the choices he makes and by the people he listens to.
If we don’t get this maniac our of office this year, we might be doomed.

Thanks for posting that video. BHO’s Kenyan activities while he was a U.S. senator were absolutely reprehensible, and now he is sending U.S. taxpayer dollars to Kenyan to influence their voting for their Constitution – He is pushing for it to include abortion. That, too, is a crime. It is against the law for our country to take sides in the election of another country.

For those who want to really know what is really going on.
Not much change from yesterday. A couple of dribbles of gunk on and around the new BOP and flex joint. Not a perfect world, but not unusual either. Bears watching.
Relief well is better than planned. Tomorrow and Thu will be a busy day with some critical casing and cementing operations, at depth. Risky but routine. Stay tuned.

Matt Simmons has been further repudiated. He is now know to hold a significant short position on BP. So you could say he has just a wee interest in driving the stock down. (Number one rule when wondering who to believe: always ask “cui bono?”, e.g. like Al Gore running around hyping AGW).

That word about Matt Simmons and his financial interest in BP is quite interesting indeed. I’ll tell you, it behooves any one to do more critical thinking when it comes to evaluating various reports.
The sad part is that so much of the skepticism has been spawned because of one thing: We simply do not trust our government anymore and have lost faith in what it says and does. Trust is the bedrock of any proper relationship, and when it has been harmed, all parties will suffer.
Query: Can our government ever be restored to the place where we the people can trust our elected (and unelected) leaders? Only time will tell, and time is running short.

I am not an engineer :)…. my degree is in Economics and Commerce. However, my husband is an aeronautical engineer.
My feel on the subject of Stephen Chu having anything to do with the Macondo well happened to be that he should have been kept out of it. However, the great Nobel Prize winner for doing nothing, put Chu who had also won a Nobel Prize in charge of the operation. The Richard Cranium knows absolutely nothing about engineering, and this article shows that the O regime has been interfering in such a way that the capping of the well has taken longer than necessary, and the resultant damage from the oil spill was also unnecessary.
This White House regime is full of incompetent Richard Craniums.

TBI leads probe of Monroe County Election Commission official’s death

MADISONVILLE — A Monroe County deputy has been suspended in connection with the investigation into the case of an election official whose body was believed to be found in the trunk of a burning car.
Kenny Hope was placed on administrative leave with pay, according to Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens. He would not discuss the reason for the suspension or details of the case, in which a body believed to be that of county election commission chairman Jim Miller
was found in the burning car Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has officially taken the lead in the investigation into the apparent slaying of Jim Miller, the Monroe County Election Commission chairman.
Family members believe Miller is the person who was found in the trunk of his burning car Saturday evening, although authorities have yet to confirm this to the public. Law enforcement are awaiting the results of an autopsy to confirm the identity.
A TBI spokesman issued the following statement: “The district attorney general requested TBI to begin investigating Monday. Our agent has been assigned the case and is beginning his investigation. No further details will be released until the investigation is continued. Thanks for your patience and understanding.”
Miller was a life-long resident of Sweetwater. For more than 20 years he was the president of Jim Miller Excavating Co., which did environmental remediation of underground petroleum storage tanks and other excavations. He served as 1st District chairman of the Republican Party.
