“Aide: Blagojevich said he made deal for Obama seat”
“A former top aide to Rod Blagojevich testified Thursday that the then-governor said he had a deal to appoint a state legislator to Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat in exchange for letting a veto of ethics legislation stand.
Alonzo Monk testified that Blagojevich was worried the legislation would hurt his ability to raise funds because it banned people with state contracts of $50,000 or more from donating to the campaigns of politicians who administered them.
Blagojevich, who had campaigned by saying he would bring a new era of ethics in state government, had complained the bill unfairly targeted the governor’s office. It had passed both houses without a single ‘no’ vote before his veto.
Monk quoted Blagojevich as saying former state Senate President Emil Jones agreed to the alleged deal. But Jones called for the vote, which passed just over a month before Obama was elected president. The override vote might not have occurred had Obama not urged Jones — his mentor — to call his chamber to action.
Jones did not immediately respond to a message Thursday at his business. His cell phone was not able to accept a message.”

Nice link on Naper, Michelle… perhaps they were trying the ‘commune’ route a few decades past? Now, they are just a typical Chicago suburb. Chicago and surrounding area has a very interesting history of growth. Definitely. I worked many years in the financial trading sector. The futures/options business helped the city grow from 1900 onwards as it was a trading port for goods last century. Fun places to visit all over the area. I recommend it! 🙂

Lisa I was born in Chicago, but grew up in the dorky suburbs DuPage, Bensenville, Elmhurst, Addison, Villa Park, Wood Dale, Roselle-squaresville USA. We used to go down to Rush Street-that was a blast-took the suburbs awhile to get some action, any action so we wouldn’t have to go downtown. It was like civilization came to the suburbs-finally.

Well at least we now know why some parts of DC are not working, at this point we don’t know how many other scandals are bubbling up, ready to explode. I still think the Gulf Coast Oil Spill is a metaphor for this disaster of an adminstration. To picture the Obama admin at work all you need to do is look at the oil spill. I read somewhere 13 countries offered immediate assistance along with many companies, Obama rejected their offers. Nobody is that stupid, well ok Obama is that stupid.

By Wednesday night, BP’s shares had lost more than half of their market value — or at least $71 billion — in the 52 days since the crisis began. Almost every pension fund in the U.K. owns shares in the energy giant, raising serious questions about the impact the firm’s plummeting value will have on the retirement plans for millions of Britons. President Barack Obama’s threat to block a BP dividend payment in order to ensure victims of the spill get compensation has also sparked widespread alarm.
“Obama’s boot on the throat of British pensioners” read the front-page headline in Thursday’s Daily Telegraph, which added that the president’s “attacks on BP were blamed for wiping billions off the company’s value.”
‘Aggressive rhetoric’ “U.K. alarm over attack on BP” was the Financial Times’ take on the crisis, which it suggested could damage transatlantic relations. The newspaper accused President Barack Obama of employing “increasingly aggressive rhetoric” against BP.
Shares in BP hit their lowest level in 13 years on Thursday. According to the Telegraph, BP executives are so worried that Obama’s comments could continue to drive down BP’s share price that the firm has asked Prime Minister David Cameron to intervene. Cameron is due to speak with Obama this weekend.
Obama and U.S. officials have repeatedly referred to BP as “British Petroleum” — despite the fact that the company officially changed its name in 2000. Some have interpreted this as an attack on the country’s reputation.

Rush Street has gone downhill all the way into the gutter. Last time I was there (in the 90s), there was ‘famous’ street lady who would sit on a sidewalk (in a heap), talk to herself, had no teeth and would lift her shirt to expose droopy boobs to flash passersbys hoping for $ to be given her. It was Dis.Gus.Ting.

I had cousins and friends that lived in the city that we used to go visit. I always thought it was weird, the neighborhoods would go up and down like a yo-yo. If you walked, you would be on one city block, beautiful, gorgeous, well kept, cross the street and you were in a high crime area. So strange. These politicians over skimmed for years, almost nothing left to skim you are correct.

It is really sad to see the way Memphis (2ND most Dangerous City in America) and Nashville (9th) have gone downhill under the regimes of boCohort Gov. Bredesen & Mayor Dean also.
If people only knew how dangerous it is here now, there would be no tourism. If people coming to the CMA Fest take a wrong turn on Main St. or Jefferson they could end up dead and no one would ever hear of them again because the PD & DA coverup more crime in Nashville than they report.
And Memphis, OMG, that city is a drug war zone, absolutely unsafe for white people.
Regarding the Tim Adams allegations, Tim mentioned in the radio segment that there was a theft and a break in, and that fifty documents were stolen.
Why was it kept quiet, or was there a police report ?? If so, will the police acknowledge one ?
I’m hoping the allegations prove to be true. If so, Hawaii has a serious collusion issue to give account of.

Used to go to Wheaton all the time, I think I went to Wonder Lake once. My favorite town but I didn’t live in it was Glen Ellyn I just loved those old houses, my father used to take us to Lake in the Hills when we were little kids, I had a cousing who liked in Lake Zurich-my brother lived in Barrington-all pretty little towns.

Parts of city of Chicago are like that and you are always warned away. Miami has this problem also, every once in awhile they murder a poor unsuspecting tourist from a foreign country-robber, beatings murder-then they do a crackdown.
Maybe someone should start a web-site called Dangerous areas-Don’t ever go there-might shame some into good behavior and they will do something about the crime.

Woodstock IL has the cutest town square: used in the movie “Groundhog Day”. They show that (movie free for the townies) each February and when I went once, the actor who plays the insurance salesman did a little speech after the movie and took Qs from the townies. It was really cute…. I love seeing Chicago and suburban sites in movies. 🙂
… ok getting bit homesick now… Living in NZ is awesome, but I still heart Chicago very much. Sad it gets badmouthed so much since the politicians are crap. Hopefully Illinois is awake now and finally understand how important voting in better representatives are – for all government offices. eh? 😉

Well good for you, one of the guys in our neighborhood (friend of my brothers actually) married a nice Aussie girl so they moved to Australia, and one of my girlfriends married a guy from Ireland, so we are always tripping on the accents. I love Dame Edna Everage-do you ever see here there?

Aus and NZ accents used to sound the same to me, but they are different and I can now tell the difference.

I watched an episode about a dude who went into the forest on an exploration trip with a video camcorder, recording the whole ordeal, they found the camcorder and what was left of him. Whatever it was, it dragged him off somewhere.

I watched a reality / rescue show once (they have some decent ones here I dig like “Piha Rescue” about idiots & surfers saved from drownings)… and this one show was searching for a lost adult in a forest near where I live. The narrator and music was all dramatic – this person MUST be found or they’d have to spend the night in the forest! (called ‘bush’ here)… I laughed so hard – what, they might get a chill because it gets down into the 50s or 60s F at night? Sun rise: they can find their way out… (duh)…

LOL… My husband, a New Zealander, has to translate some of the UK accents in films – like “lock stock and 2 smoking barrels”. I don’t understand 1/2 of what they are saying, its English, right?
Not pullin your leg, it was about a dude who got bit by a monitor lizard or something, and he had gotten infected. The infection gradually went up his arm, and then to the neck. No way they faked that scene.
I don’t recall the name of the show, but they found him on the edge of a river bank. You don’t have salty’s there do you ?

“salty’s?” umm, we have salt & pepper… and there are some sharks in the saltwater pacific ocean… but no monitor lizards.
NZ has wee green gekkos and tiny Tuataras. Both small enough to float over from nearby islands (like Fiji and them)… I suppose.
The flora and fauna down here in NZ is unique though and very pretty. Nothing can hurt you or kill you if your trekking in bush. Unless in you’re in far back country where there are wild boar (yes, they hunt them)… NZ is a tourist destination… c’mon down 🙂

I was surprised by the Globe Story about Algore. I have to rely on the reports of others such as Larry or the Globe because I’ve never had a functional gaydar.
I’m hopeful that the new lawsuit against Larry Sinclair will allow him a big platform to share his truth far and wide.
Those of us who have followed Larry from the beginning know just how badly Mr. Sinclair and his family have been treated at the hand’s of the Obama regime. He deserves the opportunity to tell his story in court.
