An American education professor, one of the founders of a radical 1960s group known as the Weather Underground, which was responsible for a number of bombings in the United States in the early 1970s, was turned back at the Canadian border last night.

Dr. William Ayers, a professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and a leader in educational reform, was scheduled to speak at the Centre for Urban Schooling at University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. But that appearance has now been temporarily cancelled.

“I don’t know why I was turned back,” Ayers said in an interview this morning from Chicago. “I got off the plane like everyone else and I was asked to come over to the other side. The border guards reviewed some stuff and said I wasn’t going to be allowed into Canada. To me it seems quite bureaucratic and not at all interesting … If it were me I would have let me in. I couldn’t possibly be a threat to Canada.””

  1. Today is my birthday and I live in Toronto. This must be my gift! Thanks border guards!

  2. Amazing when Canada will stop this terrorist and the University’s in the United States will allow him to com to their Campus and be paid by taxpayer dollars. He just finished with a speach at the u of Florida and protesters were denied the right to protest.

  3. Happy Birthday texasdude!

  4. redneck sympathizer

    What scum!

Uh, hello, earth calling Mr. Ayers? What do you think the job of the TSA and Border Patrol are? To prevent terrorists from entering the country????

And do recall, Mr. Ayers, that YOU are a terrorist, and a proven and admitted one too? Are you seriously for real? “If I were them, I would have let me in?” Seriously? Seriously?

What does Canada know that we don’t know? they don’t let a terrorist into their country, but we willingly let him into ours, teaching our children at his job, and hob nobbing and palling around with our Usurper Elect.

Meanwhile, innocent Muslim passengers are unfairly escorted off a plane a few weeks ago.

    Are we nuts?

  6. Ayers and Dohrn were, however, allowed to enter Cuba in the fall of 2008 for a conference.

  7. Canadian Border Patrol exercizing more common sense than Americans. Hope this gets more press.

    The arrogance of Ayers… “I don’t know why…”

We need to start educating ourselves on how the REST of the world treats “former” terrorists.

  8. Hey Bill Ayers,

The fact that YOU ARE a terrorsit is why you didn’t get into Canada. They don’t like your kind. Cuba, however, is another story. They love you. It’s really NOT that hard to figure out. So why do you seem surprised.

  17. At least Foxnews.com is reporting this story.

  18. Wells,

Here’s a response from my sister in TN from Senator Corker. Feel free to post.

Thank you for contacting my office to share your concerns about President-elect Obama’s constitutional eligibility for the office of President of the United States. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

Article 2 of the Constitution principally requires a person to be a “natural born citizen” and at least 35 years of age in order to serve in the office of the Presidency. I agree that it is imperative that the Constitution is upheld in all instances, especially for the requirements for this highest office.

As you know, some questions arose during the campaign about the eligibility of President-elect Obama for the presidency as a natural born citizen. Several lawsuits filed in recent months brought these questions to the courts, although all were subsequently rejected. An appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court was also recently denied. While I will continue to monitor another appeal which remains pending, I believe the outcome to this question will be decided by the judicial branch of our government.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.

  19. Jill Biden Says Husband Offered Choice of Vice President or Secretary of State
Vice President-elect Joe Biden tries to “shhh” his wife after she lets the apparent secret slip on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

WASHINGTON — The wife of Vice President-elect Joe Biden let it slip to Oprah Winfrey Monday that her husband had a pick of two jobs in the Obama administration.
Jill Biden said President-elect Barack Obama gave Biden the choice of being secretary of state or vice president. The vice president-elect tried to hush his wife as soon as the words came out of her mouth, with a loud “shhh!” that sent the audience into laughter.

Does anybody else here think it is inappropriate for Barack Obama to offer Joe Biden the choice of Vice President OR Secretary of State? Isn’t Joe Biden’s son the The Attorney General of Delaware who issued an arrest warrant for Larry Sinclair? Does this smell of “pay for play”?

“Foot in Mouth” disease must be a Biden family trait.

William Ayers turned back at American border, January 19, 2009!

He would become a citizen without a country!

A true citizen of the World!!!!!

    Nation less!!!!!!

  21. Biden is SUCH an ass! It’s comical!

  22. Were these rats jumping ship for a reason? Seems a bit peculiar they won’t be in the VIP tent.

  23. Sandy – I was thinking the same thing! Only in a perfect world…

  24. I know the news of Ayres being turned back from Canada made my DAY.

Jonah I thought precisely the same thing. Biden has something on Obama so he was given a choice and maybe wouldn’t have had any choice otherwise…

This was payback to Biden for having Biden’s son falsely arrest Larry Sinclair.

And I say that based on the things I’ve read from others etc. on Sinclair.

I had a small thought right from the start Biden was being paid back by Obama but this convinces me.

    “Happy Birthday” Texasdude …:)

  25. And why did Biden pick VP ? Well of course because it’s been his dream , evidenced by 2 attempts to be POTUS and sees this as next best thing. And then there’s always that small possibility he could become POTUS .

  26. It was really great to see Ayres turned back from Canada. Could another reason be possibly there is a little more investigation of Ayres and Obama’s relationship?

If I remember right, Biden was paid $3 million for the deal with Obama to shut Larry up for a little while. Biden wanted Vice President. I might be wrong, but I don’t think so. I can’t stand Biden anymore that Obama. They are both scumbags.bkw

  27. I too admire Canadians.

    This in the news today-

Obama approval ratings top 80 percent in Canada

OTTAWA (AFP) — US president-elect Barack Obama has approval ratings as high as 86 percent in neighboring Canada, but this won’t help him get trade concessions or more Canadian troops for Afghanistan, polls released Monday showed.

According to an Ekos survey for public broadcaster CBC, 81 percent of Canadians approve of Obama’s performance as he prepares to take over from President George W. Bush on Tuesday.

An Ipsos Reid poll for CanWest News Service found 86 percent of Canadians believe Obama’s presidency “brings hope for the future.”
