Fidel Castro, on February 19, 2008, announced that he is retiring. Castro, a major player in the cold war, cuban missle crisis and Bay of Pigs invasion, outlasted his contemporaries. Castro was also part of many conspiracy theories concerning the assasination of John Kennedy. Castro, it could be argued, was somewhat pro US in his early years and spent some time  here. Will his leaving office change relations between Cuba and the US? Give your opinion here. Vote in our poll.

The Daily Dish, Andrew Sullivan blog, Hillary Clinton, Why she’s losing

Hillary Clinton and her presidential, or even candidate chance. Many of us are wondering the same thing. Is it over for Hillary Clinton. Obviously by the numbers, it is too early to tell. But, is the handwriting on the wall. I keep hearing people from diverse backgrounds say and discern the same thing, that Barack Obama my be more electable.

Andrew Sullivan of The daily Dish blog isn’t holding back, Here is a recent post of his headed, Why she’s losing, referring to Hillary Clinton losing ground to Barack Obama and why. Here is an exerpt:

“There is a huge desire among many independents and conservatives in this country to punish the GOP for their betrayal of core conservative principles and basic competence and decency these past few years. These folks are plentiful enough to jolt the Republicans toward McCain. But a lot of these conservatives and independents like Obama because he’s obviously a smart, decent guy, because electing him would kill off Jesse Jackson style racial politics for a while, and because he seems like a liberal pragmatist who’s interested in getting things done. A lot of people will tolerate a move back to the center, even the left, if it means an end to this awful period in history and a fresh start for the country.

That’s my sense of things anyway. The Democrats are beginning to realize their choice is between a loss and a landslide victory that could change American politics for a generation. Moreover, I don’t think Obama is an ideological figure who would govern in ways that would affront the center. I can’t know that, of course. But there is a reason George W. Bush was so dismissive of him. Bush also knows that Obama is a rebuke. Clinton, in contrast, is a peer.

There really is no reason to vote for the Clintons again. It’s all about them; and this time, it really should be about the country.

Rush Limbaugh, global warming, Al Gore, climate stations, global warming myths

If you only listen to Rush Limbaugh for one topic, global warming, it is well worth your time. Rush Limbaugh is one of a few credible sources of information on factual data concerning alleged global warming. As Rush says, follow the money. Just a few years ago the so called experts were warning of global cooling and everyday we are bombarded with more misinformation and exagerations. The temperature change increase seems to change daily depending on which expert or politician is speaking. It is the policy of fear mongering and using political platforms to save the helpless populace.

Listen to the Rush Limbaugh show as often as you can and of course go to his website and check out the links on the global warming myth. Here is an example of a recent link on Rush’s site:

“Del. global warming skeptic stands pat

State climatologist on opposite side of governor in court case

Enter Legates, a Ph.D. climatologist who received the title of state climatologist in 2005 from Daniel Leathers, now the head of the University of Delaware’s geography department.

Legates joined a group of scientists late last year in urging the court to reject the state claims, in a brief filed by the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute.

“It is simply impossible to conclude that the net effect of greenhouse gases endangers human health and welfare,” the brief said.”

Another great source for information on the global warming myth is a blog I discovered. Rush, if you have not seen this blog, you must visit it. Attention Rush Limbaugh and truth seekers everywhere.

Visit:

http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com

The blog is owned by Anthony Watts and in his own words he is “a former television meteorologist who operates a weather technology and content business, as well as continues daily forecasting on radio, just for fun.” Go to his blog and search on global warming. His articles are based on solid facts and he exposes much of the quasi science such as that used in the climate station temperature monitoring.

Here sre some of his recent posts:

I always recommend that people search for the truth and facts. Don’t believe everything you read or here, such as from Al Gore. Just for fun, about a year ago I checked on the average temperatures in Antartica. Check this out for yourself. Check out the average summer temperature in Antartica. Keep your eye on the truth.

Rush Limbaugh, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Carbonite

Most people either love or hate Rush Limbaugh. I love what he does. My experience has been that he attempts to base his opinions on facts. Is he biased, of course. Everyone is. Is he an entertainer. Yes by his own admission. I have listened to Rush Limbaugh for many years. I have also listened to NPR for many years.

If you want complete analysis of politicians like Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama, John McCain or Mike Huckabee or want to find out about the latest and best quality products, listen to Rush. I find that most people who claim they don’t like Rush Limbaugh, have either not listened to his show or listened very little. Of course there are people out there that don’t care about the truth. They of course hate Rush and the truth.

I have been listening to Rush talk about Carbonite for awhile. Carbonite is an internet backup service for business and individuals. I glanced at the writeup and it sounds like a great idea. Off site backup is a great idea.

Anyway, if you have any comments about Rush Limbaugh and his opinions or products, give us a yell.

BofA, Bank of America, credit card rate hikes, corporate accountability, HR 5244

Well, here we go again. Bank of America, a very large bank based in Charlotte NC is punishing it’s credit card customers for it’s lack of business acumen. This is a prevalent theme in modern day american business. Exorbitant salaries are paid to upper management, with “golden parachutes”, and when they don’t do their jobs properly, who gets punished. The customers and employees. Bank of America has a policy that appears rather arbitrary and unfair. Despite perfect payment records, credit card rates are being jacked up. Despite the fact that there have been recent congressional hearings into credit card companies and banks regarding their practices of affecting FICO scores and raising rates and heightened consumer awareness, Bank of America callously impacts good customers.

An article in The Charlotte Observer today, Wednesday, February 13, 2008, gives multiple examples of good customers that have been treated unjustly by Bank of America. Brenda Fishkin got a letter from BofA last month stating her interest rate was going from 13% to 24.99 percent. Fishkin, 60, had never had a late credit card payment, had just refinanced her home at a lower rate and just got a lower rate on her credit union credit card. The fed has lowered rates significantly in recent months which should mean lower rates for many consumers. Holley Pridmore has had a BofA credit card since 2002. Her rate just went from 15.24 to 23.99 with never a late payment.

Wachovia looks at their customers payment records to determine rates, with the intent of keeping their customers. I have had banking relationships with BofA and Wachovia. My experience with Bank of America several years ago was less than steller. I was a long time First Union customer. What kept me with them was the fine level of service from the local people. I had a credit card with First Union for many years that was great. Before First Union merged with Wachovia, they turned the credit card division over to MBNA. It became credit card hell. Wachovia, wisely, took control of the credit card processing from MBNA. I applaud them for that. And I will say, Wachovia is doing some things right.

Curtis Arnold, founder of US Citizens for Credit Card Terms has been hearing a lot of complaints about credit card rate increases lately and most of them are about Bank of America. Their website is:

CardRatings.com

US Representative, Carolyn Maloney, from NY recently introduced th Credit Cardholder’s Bill of Rights Act of 2008, HR 5244. The bill bans credit card rate hikes based on unrelated loans. It also requires 45 days’ notice for most rate hikes. We need more consumer outrage! I have contacted Elizabeth Dole’s office several years ago about credit issues and credit reporting. Contact your congress person. Let   them know you are concerned. Also, make sure you check your credit report at least once per year.

Bank of America, if you have a reasonable defense for your policy, respond and it will be displayed as written.

Democracy, big government, how to catch wild pigs

I received an email from a good friend today. The message is so good I had to post it:

HOW TO CATCH A WILD PIG

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government. In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ‘ Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.’You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you
have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),
welfare, medicine, drugs, free medical, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms – just a little at a time.

One should always remember ‘There is no such thing as a free Lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government ‘help’ is a
problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

‘A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.’ ……..

Hillary Clinton, Hillary Clinton’s chances poll, over for Hillary Clinton, poll results

Obama appears to have the momentum at the moment, however delegate wise, it is very close. Many are seeing the end for Hillary Clinton, especially with recent losses and many endorsements, including endorsements from former Clinton supporters. Mark Twain once said, “reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated.” Is Hillary Clinton’s demise greatly exaggerated? Does Hillary Clinton still have a chance? Vote in the poll to your right.

Citizen Wells, truth, justice, righting wrongs

I have been meaning to do this for some time. I hate injustice. I despise inaccurate or biased news. I don’t like it when innocent people are wronged or taken advantage of. You get the picture, when it affects me the stakes go up. I don’t know where this is headed. I do have lot’s of ideas. Maybe a combination of crusader and accurate news reporter. Sounds good to me. And, oh yes, it is a play on words.
