The Norinco made weapons used a STAMPED steel receiver. These were CHEAPLY produced but were HIGHLY RELIABLE weapons on the battlefield. During the Viet Nam war a number of our soldiers in the field were forced to pick up an AK 47 near a dead NVA…….and use it to fight with because it was known even then to be a lot more reliable than our PRECISION built M-16. which was fraught with problems on the battlefield. One spec of sand, or a little dampness and it became a useless weapon. Jamming was another problem….. forward assist was retrofitted to relieve the jamming problem in the heat of battle. A lot of our troops died because of our UNRELIABLE M-16.

They are saying AR15 converted to auto. That’s not actually easy to do, much easier for AK as you note correctly. Either way, 500 yards is beyond effective range for accuracy on full auto for both weapons, but firing into a crowd it’s hard to miss.
My question is why a pilot, who owns two planes, didn’t just load them with gasoline, with jello mix, and crash it into the crowd? Did he think he was getting away by using guns? Did he have an escape plan? Does anybody wonder how a chronic gambler, supposedly out of work, got all that money? Anybody wondering why the media says he may have worked for the government “but they can neither confirm, or deny”. Believe me, I would deny it if he wasn’t employed by the government.
I have little faith in the FBI or the justice department, the last administration with Holder, Comey, Mueller, and Loretta Lynch, that we will get the real story. My heart goes out to the Americans and their families, my prayers are with them. The people need the facts and truth, so I will wait, but I still say something smells bad with this.

It is a little like the reaction that many PYROMANIACS get as they stand and watch the fire which they set burn peoples homes ,and cause the deaths of others. Some of the pyromaniacs have a sexual ejaculation, when they watch the fire. Such people are sometimes released from prison as being no longer a danger to others. That only lasts until they are able to put their hands on some matches. In California they are right back at it soon after they are let out. They are actually criminal psychopaths. I believe that Paddock might have been such a person. He took the cowards way out.

…………first responders face potential instant death. Such people are to be praised. They are in my heart along with the victims, and my heart cries for them. This is how I feel at this very bad moment in my life. Some folks take an “ohhhhhhh welllllllll” attitude………..I guess that is for them, but as a human being you can’t help choking up. While we try to keep weapons out of the hands of criminal psychopaths, our way of life almost guarantees that such people will fall through the cracks.
Until a few months ago I was an owner of a SEMI AUTOMATIC version of an AK 47. I had owned it since the 1970s, and it complied with all of the existing laws. It was a 7.62x 39 weapon. In the last few years I have begun to re think a lot of my early beliefs. I traded it for a 12 gauge slide action shotgun with a three inch chamber, and made to use Remington EXPRESS (high brass) loads. I keep it hidden for quick access. I intend to use 00 buckshot in this weapon since I have it for defense against home invasion………..and I will use it in defense of my wife and myself in a heartbeat. Again I own it for DEFENSIVE purposes, NOT OFFENSIVE action. There is a big difference that many people have not made themselves aware of. In Indiana we may use a defensive weapon if we are invaded by armed individuals…….and perceive our lives to be in danger. When I am outdoors I open carry a model 29 S&W in which I use a .44 special round. I have owned this weapon since the 1960s and am proficient in it’s use, and I do know when and where it’s use is justified. Many of my friends are either sheriff’s reserve or active policemen.
