Philadelphia allowed a criminal (he entered the US illegally twice) to roam the streets free. He then committed a more serious crime.

“Milton Mateo Garcia, 28, was caught one year ago entering the U.S. illegally across the Mexican border and was deported back to his native Honduras.
But Mr. Garcia soon re-entered the U.S. illegally — federal authorities either don’t know how, or they won’t say. He settled with relatives in Philadelphia, where Mayor Michael Nutter had signed an executive order in April declaring it a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants.
Since then, it’s the city’s official policy to defy federal authorities seeking to deport illegal immigrants unless the person sought by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has been convicted of a violent felony. More than 100 communities nationwide have enacted similar policies, with the tacit blessing of the Obama administration.
Living and working in sanctuary, Mr. Garcia last month, according to police, approached a 26-year-old Philadelphia doctor who was walking to her home in the city’s fashionable Rittenhouse Square neighborhood after a night out with friends. He is accused of forcing the woman into her apartment and raping her repeatedly.
Police said Mr. Garcia then stole the victim’s cellphone and rode away on his bicycle. In perhaps not the smartest of moves, Mr. Garcia kept the victim’s smartphone in his possession. Police said they found him, in part, by calling the phone and locating its signal.
With Mr. Garcia now in prison facing trial on rape, kidnapping and robbery charges, ICE has lodged a detainer against him, requesting that local police notify federal immigration authorities before he would be released. But Philadelphia police won’t honor that request unless Mr. Garcia is convicted of a violent felony and a judicial warrant is issued.”
“There is no question that the Obama administration has encouraged cities like Philadelphia to adopt sanctuary and noncooperation policies that obstruct ICE from taking custody of offenders like this,” she said. “Earlier this year, senior ICE managers in [Washington] told local authorities explicitly that they are free to ignore local ICE officers when they issue detainers seeking custody of criminal aliens like Milton Mateo Garcia.”

Thursday, July 3, 2014 was another day of Orwellian employment data reporting, straight out of “1984.”
The US Labor Dept. reported 288,000 new jobs in June.
The media and financial markets went wild.

We know that for years now many of the jobs that were added were part time jobs. They count as full time jobs in the Labor Dept. stats.

For example, 111,000 more people in June could only find part time work.
Remember, many people are working multiple part time jobs to make ends meet. Each one of those part time jobs could be counted as a job added. The same day Market Watch provided the following information with less fanfare.

“A Veterans Affairs whistleblower from Atlanta will testify before Congress next Tuesday about widespread destruction of applications and retaliation against whistleblowers. His testimony will not negate the claim that the V.A. scandal was indeed a “mess” that Barack Obama inherited from previous administrations, but it will demonstrate that this administration exacerbated the problem. How? By shifting workers from the task of processing V.A. applications last summer to work on Obamacare enrollment.
Scott Davis is a program specialist at the V.A.’s national Health Eligibility Center in DeKalb County, Georgia. His story was published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this past Sunday and appeared on the Neil Cavuto program on Fox News Wednesday. As opposed to previous whistleblower reports, which focus V.A. hospitals and getting to see doctors, Davis’ revelations are about the processing of applications by V.A. offices.
Davis told the Journal-Constitution that health benefit applications for more than 10,000 veterans may have been improperly purged from the Health Eligibility Center’s national data system. He began filing complaints in January 2014, revealing that managers were focused more on meeting goals linked to the Affordable Care Act than processing V.A. applications. Their bonuses were held out as “carrots.””

Healthcare were destroyed, and they’re “also looking into a backlog of over 600,000 pending applications for V.A. My ancestor, John Wells signed the Tryon Resolves in August 1775. His house, begun during the revolution, is still standing.

“Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 288,000 in June, and the unemployment rate declined to 6.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
Job gains were widespread, led by employment growth in professional and business services, retail trade, food services and drinking places, and health care.
Household Survey Data
In June, the unemployment rate declined by 0.2 percentage point to 6.1 percent. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 325,000 to 9.5 million. Over the year, the unemployment rate and the number of unemployed persons have declined by 1.4 percentage points and 2.3 million, respectively. (See table A-1.)
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult women (5.3 percent) and blacks (10.7 percent) declined in June, and the rate increased for teenagers (21.0 percent). The rates for adult men (5.7 percent), whites (5.3 percent), and Hispanics (7.8 percent) showed little change. The jobless rate for Asians was 5.1 percent (not seasonally adjusted), little changed from a year earlier. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)
The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) declined by 293,000 in June to 3.1 million; these individuals accounted for 32.8 percent of the unemployed. Over the past 12 months, the number of long-term unemployed has decreased by 1.2 million. (See table A-12.)
In June, the civilian labor force participation rate was 62.8 percent for the third
consecutive month. The employment-population ratio, at 59.0 percent, showed little change over the month but is up by 0.3 percentage point over the year. (See table A-1.)
The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) increased by 275,000 in June to 7.5 million.
The number of involuntary part-time workers is down over the year but has shown no clear trend in recent months. These individuals were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job. (See table A-8.).”
