“The Obama administration is expected to give a fuller picture Sunday of whether it met its self-imposed November 30 deadline to allow 50,000 people to access the federal healthcare exchange website simultaneously.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have scheduled a press conference for 9 a.m. to discuss the progress of the site, Healthcare.gov.
Obama administration officials said Saturday that the site had “performed well” and that upgrades overnight Friday had improved response times and reduced errors. The site was taken offline between 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Eastern time Saturday, in addition to its regular maintenance window, which falls between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Eastern time Sunday.
“With the scheduled upgrades last night and tonight, we’re on track to meet our stated goal for the site to work for the vast majority of users,” CMS spokesman Aaron Albright told Fox News earlier Saturday.”
“Avoiding a break in coverage is particularly important for millions of people whose current individual policies were canceled because they don’t meet the standards of the health care law, as well as for a group of about 100,000 in an expiring federal program for high-risk patients.
Democrats and Republicans will be closely watching the site this weekend. With the midterm elections less than a year away, it’s vital to Democrats that the site lives up to expectations the president set. Republicans have already suggested they’ll launch coordinated attacks linking every congressional Democrat up for re-election to the Affordable Care Act.”

Officials acknowledged more work remains on the website that included hundreds of software bugs, inadequate equipment and inefficient management for its national debut two months ago. Federal workers and private contractors have undertaken an intense reworking of the system, but the White House’s chief troubleshooter cautioned some users could still encounter trouble.
“The bottom line — HealthCare.gov on Dec. 1 is night and day from where it was on Oct. 1,” Jeff Zients told reporters.
More than 50,000 people can log on to the website at one time and more than 800,000 people will be able to shop for insurance coverage each day, the government estimated in a report released Sunday. If true, it’s a dramatic improvement from the system’s first weeks, when frustrated buyers watched their computer screen freeze, the website crash and error messages multiply.
The figures — which could not be independently verified — suggest millions of Americans could turn to their laptops to shop for and buy insurance policies by the Dec. 23 deadline.
“There’s not really any way to verify from the outside that the vast majority of people who want to enroll can now do so, but we’ll find out at least anecdotally over the coming days if the system can handle the traffic and provide a smooth experience for people trying to sign up,” said Larry Levitt, a senior adviser at the Kaiser Family Foundation.”

The current Obamacare system is unworkable unless many many young people sign up for insurance. The insurance companies increased rates because they were well aware that they would receive many people requests for insurance, with pre-existing conditions, that would make them more expensive to care for then the money they obtained, which could only be offset by youth enrollment. Young people will not get insurance and still get care by the emergency rooms. Further, the young will not get a ‘fine’ because most of them don’t pay taxes now anyway.
The system is unworkable unless, approximately 50k young people a day, sign up for health care insurance. This isn’t going to happen, so Obamacare will require ‘extreme’ measures to fund itself. Death panels, raising insurance rates, and finally enormous penalties for those not purchasing insurance. Don’t be shocked if the ‘penalty’ for not purchasing insurance soon is greater than the purchase price for insurance. Soon the penalty for not having insurance will be greater than the average 20 year old yearly income.
Liberals, it’s all ‘hope and change’ until someone actually has to pay for it or make it work.

Pete, I agree with your analogy whereby “if” Obamacare is to survive, it will have to raise the tax (penalty) astronomically. However, I don’t believe that is going to happen. Just my opinion though.
What I do believe will happen is that the planned failure of Obamacare will force everyone into a 1 payer system – Medicaid, one of the primary reasons they “lowered” the bar for people to qualify. Collapse Medicare by cutting over half a trillion dollars out of it over the next 10 years, which they have in order to help pay for Obamacare. When both fail (which they will) Obamacare and Medicare, that only leaves Medicaid. Hence now a 1 payer system which is their “end game” goal.
As they say, never let a good crisis go to waste. Create the crisis to rescue it as the savior.
Just my opinion of course.

Perhaps in this system a baby isn’t considered human (part of family) before age 2….it wouldn’t surprise me.
There is no question that O’Care was designed to lead to a single payer system. That is a given, I believe. Even at best O’Care is bound to struggle along leaving misery and destruction in its path. It is extremely doubtful that it can financially survive because of the reasons Pete and others have set forth.
However, can we just say that the next step is certain? There are still enough in this country who will fight socialized medicine with all of their might. If O’Care is bad, socialized medicine administered by this present group of turkeys will be much worse. If by that time we still have a Congress acting at all, how far will a single payer plan get?
This is important! I am not the greatest student of history, but most other countries who have adopted socialized medicine did it primarily because it was thought to raise the quality of healthcare for the people. Contrary to that, we have those in executive power in the U.S. who are working to take over our beloved country and convert it to a socialist/communist state. They couldn’t care less about the welfare of the American people.
Frankly, O could try this by executive order (in bits and pieces), but it is my opinion that this would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. If Congress, feeble as it is, didn’t stop him, this could certainly be a recipe for civil war, if something else doesn’t take us down before.

Pruitt is suing the federal government on those grounds.

media protesting lack of access and ability
to photograph Obama in his official capacity.
Your missive to putative White House spokesman Jay Carney will fall on deaf ears.
You wonder why Obama’s handlers will not allow you access to “the President while he is performing his official duties.” You question why only sanitized, poised photos released by the White House are allowed to circulate in the public arena. In order to obtain answers, however, you need to look at yourselves and admit what you, not Obama, did to your profession.
Had you researched Obama’s background in 2007 and 2008, you would have found out that he is a communist. “Communist,” you say? Oh, you believed that communists were a thing of the past, something railed about by that crazy Sen. Joseph McCarthy back in the 1950s while more sophisticated members of the Congress and the “media” laughed behind his back or ridiculed him openly. Yes, ridicule is a thing you “journalists” do quite well when you see something that is simply below your elevated stature to investigate.
An example is the questions about Obama’s constitutional eligibility which arose in 2008.
In late 2007, progressive talking head Chris Matthews said on MSNBC that “Obama was born in Indonesia.” While Matthews failed to cite a source for his statement, a second similar report went to print in a Hawaii publication shortly thereafter. None of you was even the slightest bit curious about Obama’s background and whether or not he was constitutionally eligible to occupy the highest office in the land. You gave no thought to Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the Constitution which mandates that only a “natural born Citizen” be elected to the presidency.
You are now beside yourselves because the Obama regime has imposed “restrictions” which “raise constitutional concerns.” However, you are five years too late. Those of us who had “constitutional concerns” when we saw a foreigner campaigning for the office of President and Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America were ridiculed, brushed aside, made pariahs, forbidden from speaking our minds on your precious airwaves, and banished to the blogosphere for even suggesting that Obama was not constitutionally eligible or possessed other impediments to serving in that capacity.
Now, you are indignant that this foreign-born domestic enemy, this friend of radical Islam, this charlatan who has usurped the Oval Office each and every day for the last five years, denigrating and spitting on America, has limited what you perceive as your First Amendment rights.
Look in the mirror.
Because you failed to act, because you failed to investigate, because you wanted Obama to win the presidency whether or not he met the eligibility criteria, the United States of America is now held hostage by a group of 1960s radicals who wish to see all of you, and us, destroyed. If you would remove your blinders just a little bit more, you would see, in all of its stark reality, that the enemy from within is not only within the gates, but now rules supreme.
Do you really believe that the takeover of the auto industry was necessary, that dealerships were closed randomly, that so many stockholders lost their investments without recourse in the courts because it was constitutional? And how prodigiously did you report on Obama’s bowing to the Saudi king in 2009? Did you host commentators with opposing views to analyze what Obama intended by that and other of his actions?
Do you really believe that the sequestration cuts affecting the military are not imposed by design after Obama skyrocketed the national debt to over $17 trillion in order to reward his former campaign bundlers and other cronies with Americans’ hard-earned dollars?
What did you do after the Obama regime removed all references to “radical Islam” from FBI and military training manuals? Did you rejoice at how inclusive your black president was, or did you ask why it was done? Did you wonder why Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley‘s career was ruined because Obama’s Joint Chiefs Chairman, Gen. Martin Dempsey, became a shill for his Islamic boss?
Did you ever investigate why Lt. Col. Terry Lakin sat in a cold, hard cell at Ft. Leavenworth for five months for questioning Obama’s eligibility and why no one in Congress could answer the question? Or did you remain in your comfortable offices and lounge chairs living the good life while Obama continued to eviscerate what was left of it?
Do you wonder why Islamic terrorism is on the rise, as admitted by a leading Democrat senator on Sunday? Do you wonder why nearly four times the number of U.S. soldiers’ lives have been lost in Afghanistan under the man you propelled into a position of commanding our military than under his predecessor?
Do you ever wonder about the young men who have been court-martialed unfairly because Obama’s Rules of Engagement have tied their hands while Islamic terrorists shoot at their hearts and their men? Do you even cover those cases? Or are you above that, too?
Did it ever enter your minds that your lack of concern for America, and your intense desire to see a progressive candidate “fundamentally transform America,” have caused your current frustration over Obama’s lack of “transparency” today?
The truth is, you are the ones who have done a disservice to America by refusing to investigate Obama’s background. You never reported that he was a member of the New Party in Chicago, that he used and may still use aliases, that his background and life story make no sense, and that he has associated with Chicago’s underground since before he entered politics. All of that was below you, and you certainly didn’t want to unearth any undesirable information on your chosen man.
On a daily basis, you deny Americans the information they need to make sound decisions about their government while promoting your own pet agendas.

One of your reporters is specifically named as having purposely provided false information to the public to convince them that Obama was born in Hawaii when there is no evidence to prove that that is the case. Oh, but yes, you never investigated that and ridiculed those who did, so you wouldn’t know…those “Birthers” are crazy, now, aren’t they?
If the allegations against NBC News are true, what does that say about the whole sorry lot of you for going along with the “born in Hawaii” charade?

During a congressional committee hearing about the constitutional limits imposed on the presidency and the implications of President Barack Obama’s disregard for implementing the Affordable Care Act as written, one expert testified that the consequences of the president’s behavior were potentially grave. He said that the precedent set by Obama could eventually lead to an armed revolt against the federal government.
On Tuesday, Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a congressional committee about the dangers of the president’s legal behavior.
“There is one last thing to which the people can resort if the government does not respect the restrains that the constitution places on the government,” Cannon said. “Abraham Lincoln talked about our right to alter our government or our revolutionary right to overthrow it.”
“That is certainly something that no one wants to contemplate,” he continued. “If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws then they will conclude that neither are they.”
“That is a very dangerous sort of thing for the president to do, to wantonly ignore the laws,” Cannon concluded, “to try to impose obligation upon people that the legislature did not approve.”

Expert: Healthcare.gov Security Risks Even Worse After ‘Fix’
Obamacare website more vulnerable to security breached
Health and Human Services (HHS) released a progress report on Sunday following its self-imposed Nov. 30 deadline to repair the website, saying that the “team has knocked more than 400 bug fixes and software improvements off the punch list.”
The administration said that the “site capacity is stable at its intended level,” though the site continued to crash on Monday.
The eight-page report made no mention of the website’s numerous security flaws, which experts say put Americans’ personal information at risk.
“It doesn’t appear that any security fixes were done at all,” David Kennedy, CEO of the online security firm TrustedSec, told the Washington Free Beacon.
Kennedy said fundamental safeguards missing from Healthcare.gov that were identified by his company more than a month ago have yet to be put in place.
“There are a number of security concerns already with the website, and that’s without even actually hacking the site, that’s just a purely passive analysis of [it],” he said. “We found a number of critical exposures that were around sensitive information, the ability to hack into the site, things like that. We reported those issues and none of those appear to have been addressed at all.”
After warning Americans when testifying before Congress on Nov. 19 to stay away from Healthcare.gov, Kennedy now says the situation is even worse.
“They said they implemented over 400 bug fixes,” he said. “When you recode the application to fix these 400 bugs—they were rushing this out of the door to get the site at least so it can work a little bit—you’re introducing more security flaws as you go along with it because you don’t even check that code.”
“I’m a little bit more skeptical now, and I would still definitely advise individuals to not use the website because it’s definitely something that I don’t believe is secure and neither did the four individuals that testified in front of Congress,” Kennedy said. “I think there’s some major security concerns there around privacy and information, and they haven’t even come close to being addressed, and won’t be in the short term.”
Security exposures are not limited to the federal health exchange, but the 14 state marketplace websites as well. A breach has already been cited in Vermont, where a user was given access to another’s Social Security Number.
“That’s a whole other front of hacking,” Kennedy said. “That’s what’s actually going to contain all the sensitive information for residents in those states.”
“States are required to notify in the event of a breach, the federal government is not,” he added. “So in the event that Healthcare.gov gets compromised and all their information gets taken out of it they don’t have to notify anybody.”
Kennedy said the team working on Healthcare.gov is more likely to hide its security flaws than address them. When it was revealed that the most popular searches on the website were hack attempts—confirmed by entering a semicolon in the search bar—the website simply removed the tool.
“The top results were hacker attempts,” Kennedy said. “Their fix for it wasn’t, ‘Hey let’s restrict people from inputting malicious code into the website,’—because that’s how hackers break into websites—it was, ‘we’re just going to completely disable that entire function completely, and not even show the search results back.’”
CMS did not respond to requests for comment.
I went to the healthcare.gov site just to poke around and see what it was about. I was there about ten minutes. After I left, I suspected I picked up a boatload of cookies from the site. I have some software that does a very good job of detecting and eliminating these cookies. So I ran a scan and sure enough, in that brief visit I picked up 88 cookies! This website is loaded with crapwear cookies, including all kinds of tracking of your web-browsing that ends up providing data to the government about your characteristics and your health-related profile.
Just be aware when visiting this site. It is infested to the max.

And we all know that the gov’t will NOT notify anyone or even talk about the vulnerabilities. I read somewhere today on-line that a noted hacking expert (may have been Kennedy that was quoted in your cited article) warned that the vulnerabilities of compromised info can extend beyond the leaking of sensitive data from the site itself. What can happen is that your own computer passwords, e-mails, etc. can be violated. In other words, the gov’t site in the hands of hackers can then get into your own computer records and cause all kinds of problems. I wouldn’t touch that site with a ten-foot pole.

I use a Mac and got instructions sometime ago on how to clear out cookies, but I don’t remember there being selectivity. I cleared them all out but had to consent to allow them to add on in the future; otherwise, as I recall, there was a restriction as to being able to visit certain sites.

I agree, and wonder why they have not sought any remedy from the Supreme Court? Obama cannot pick and choose which laws he deems enforceable or rule by fiat. I am tired of hearing them “complain” about it.
Also, I am waiting for someone with standing to challenge the fact (as you mentioned) exemptions from the taxes built on race/religion while others are not. This I believe will eventually go before the Supreme Court. The Republicans better quickly move to get a ruling so that Obama cannot put this off and destroy the Democrats in 2014.
