Shroud of Turin authentic, Italian scientists, Created by flash of supernatural light, Not medieval forgery, Huge burst of energy at Resurrection of Christ

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”…Luke 2:10-14

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”…First Corinthians 1:25

I bring you good tidings.

From the Daily Mail December 21, 2011.

“Turin Shroud ‘was created by flash of supernatural light’: It couldn’t be a medieval forgery, say scientists”

“The image on the Turin Shroud could not be the work of medieval forgers but was instead caused by a supernatural ‘flash of light’, according to scientists.
Italian researchers have found evidence that casts doubt on claims that the relic – said to be the burial cloth of Jesus – is a fake and they suggest that it could, after all, be authentic.
Sceptics have long argued that the shroud, a rectangular sheet measuring about 14ft by 3ft, is a forgery dating to medieval times.

Scientists in Italy believe the kind of technology needed to create the Shroud of Turin simply wasn’t around at the time that it was created
Scientists from Italy’s National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development spent years trying to replicate the shroud’s markings.
They have concluded only something akin to ultraviolet lasers – far beyond the capability of medieval forgers – could have created them.

This has led to fresh suggestions that the imprint was indeed created by a huge burst of energy accompanying the Resurrection of Christ.
‘The results show a short and intense burst of UV directional radiation can colour a linen cloth so as to reproduce many of the peculiar characteristics of the body image on the Shroud of Turin,’ the scientists said.”

“Carbon dating tests in 1988 dated it from between 1260 and 1390 – implying it was a fake.

Scientists have since claimed that contamination over the ages from patches, water damage and fire, was not taken sufficiently into account In 1999, two Israeli scientists said plant pollen found on the Shroud supported the view that it comes from the Holy Land.
There have been numerous calls for further testing but the Vatican has always refused.
The image of the bearded man on the shroud must therefore have been created by ‘some form of electromagnetic energy (such as a flash of light at short wavelength)’, their report concludes. But it stops short of offering a non-scientific explanation.”

From Citizen Wells April 23, 2011.

“What I am about to present is intended primarily for the Doubting Thomases out there. First some observations. Jesus was born in the Middle East. His skin color, neither lilly white or black, was average. He was born into a lowly existence and therefore could speak to everyone regardless of status. His message is simple and true. I can find no fault with it. He was crucified. No other method of death would have gotten the attention of humans. If that is not enough for you, I have studied the Shroud of Turin for years. I believe that it is real.”

“With the passing of a generation of research and development, science may now be able to move beyond the question of authenticity and prove some of the most startling events in history, while disproving the results of the Shroud’s controversial carbon dating.  Mark Antonacci, author of The Resurrection of the Shroud, the most comprehensive and substantive book ever written on the subject, and Art Lind, a retired physicist from McDonnell Douglas Aerospace and the Boeing Company, have devised a series of tests and experiments that will test what they consider to be the most likely explanation of the Shroud’s images and unprecedented features, while explaining the cloth’s aberrant carbon dating. Scientific tests and experiments utilizing nuclear reactors and accelerator mass spectrometers could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that:”

  • Particle radiation irradiated the Shroud.
  • The particle radiation emanated from the length, width, and depth of the body wrapped within the cloth.
  • The event occurred in the 1st Century.
  • The event happened in Jesus’s burial tomb.

I have been in the process of gathering data for another report on the Shroud of Turin. Reporting from the mainstream media has never been more suspect. In the midst of doing more research, I watched a show on the Shroud on the National Geo channel. The information in the show, while purported to be from all viewpoints, was heavily laced with professional skeptics (professional debunkers) and absurd and outdated references to theories of the image being painted on. This further strengthened my resolve to present the facts.

Here is some of the information.

From Shroud Story.

“Carbon 14 and the Shroud of Turin”

“Biggest Radiocarbon Dating Mistake Ever

Photomicrograph of fibers from warp segment of carbon 14 sample. It is chemically unlike the rest of the shroud. That is a problem.

In January, 2005, things changed. An article appeared in a peer-reviewed scientific journal Thermochimica Acta, which proved that the carbon 14 dating of the Shroud of Turin was flawed because the sample used was invalid. Moreover, this article, by Raymond N. Rogers, a well-published chemist and a Fellow of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, explained why the Shroud of Turin was much older. The Shroud of Turin was at least twice as old as the radiocarbon date, and possibly 2000 years old.

Peer-reviewed scientific journals are important. It is the way scientists normally report scientific findings and theories. Articles submitted to such journals are carefully reviewed for adherence to scientific methods and the absence of speculation and polemics. Reviews are often anonymous. Facts are checked and formulas are examined. The review procedure sometimes takes months to complete, as it did for Rogers.

It was Nature, another prestigious peer-reviewed journal, that in 1989, reported that carbon 14 dating ‘proved’ the shroud was a hoax. Rogers found no fault with the article in Nature. Nor did he find fault with the quality of the carbon 14 dating. He defended it. What Rogers found was that the carbon 14 sample was taken from a mended area of the Shroud that contained significant amounts of newer material. This was not the fault of the radiocarbon laboratories. But it did show that the carbon dating was invalid.

Immediately after the publication of Rogers’ paper, Nature published a commentary by scientist-journalist Philip Ball. “Attempts to date the Turin Shroud are a great game,” he wrote, “but don’t imagine that they will convince anyone . . . The scientific study of the Turin Shroud is like a microcosm of the scientific search for God: it does more to inflame any debate than settle it.” Later in his commentary Ball added, “And yet, the shroud is a remarkable artifact, one of the few religious relics to have a justifiably mythical status. It is simply not known how the ghostly image of a serene, bearded man was made.”

Yellow dye can be seen from spliced thread. Newer material was dyed with alizarin from madder root to match age-yellowed older thread.

Ball, who understood the chemistry of the Shroud of Turin images, rejected a notion popularized by conspiracy theorists that Leonardo da Vinci created the Shroud’s image using primitive photography. He called the idea flaky. He also debunked the sometimes reported speculation that the image was “burned into the cloth by some kind of release of nuclear energy” from Jesus’ body. This he said was wild.

Almost all serious Shroud of Turin researchers agree with Ball on these points. When flaky and wild ideas appear in newspaper articles or on television, as they often do, scientists cringe. Rogers referred to those who held such views as being part of the “lunatic fringe” of Shroud research. But Rogers was just as critical of those who, without the benefit of solid science, declared the Shroud of Turin a fake. They, too, were part of the lunatic fringe.

The idea that the Shroud of Turin had been mended in the area from which the carbon 14 samples had been taken had been floating around for some time. But no one paid much attention. In 1998, Turin’s scientific adviser, Piero Savarino, suggested, “extraneous substances found on the samples and the presence of extraneous thread (left over from ‘invisible mending’ routinely carried on in the past on parts of the cloth in poor repair)” might have accounted for an error in the carbon 14 dating. Longtime shroud researchers Sue Benford and Joe Marino independently developed the same idea and explored it with several textile experts and Ronald Hatfield of the radiocarbon dating firm Beta Analytic. The art of invisible reweaving, Benford and Marino discovered, was commonly used in the Middle Ages to repair tapestries. Why not the shroud, they thought? They believed they saw evidence of it.

Photomicrograph of fibers from the center of the radiocarbon sample in water. Gum material is swelling and detaching from fibers. Chemical tests show that dye is yellow alizarin from madder root complexed with alum, a common mordant. Several cotton fibers are also visible. Cotton, alizarin and gum are only found in the C14 sample area of the shroud.

But the skeptically minded Rogers did not agree. He had already debunked every other argument so far offered to explain why the carbon 14 dating might be wrong. According to Ball, “Rogers thought that he would be able to ‘disprove [the mending] theory in five minutes’.” Instead he found clear evidence of discreet mending. He also showed, with chemistry, that the shroud was at least thirteen hundred years old. And he proved, beyond any doubt, that the sample used in 1988 was chemically unlike the rest of the shroud. The samples were invalid. The 1988 tests were thus meaningless.”

  1. This is very interesting info. The shroud is not the word of God, so it doesn’t make any difference to my faith, but it would really be amazing if it’s true.

Why is that we (our side) simply wants to get to the truth of things like this and obama’s real history, while the other side only has a goal of discrediting the shroud and obfuscating on obama’s documents?

  2. “The truth shall set you free.”

  3. another study , not mentioned, looked at the image from a topographical viewpoint and found that the image was made from a real object, 3D, not hand painted or image generated from a flat object.

The Bible skeptics abound. They questioned the existance of Joseph, until a number of coins are found in fields with his heraldy (egyptian farmers bury them to hide them). They question the great flood, recent archeological evidence show that the Black Sea and Mesopotamia experienced a flood. They questioned the Temple of David, until it was found. They questioned Solomon Mines, until they were found. They questioned the Hittite people, until they were found. They questioned the Hyskos, until they were found. As well as many other peoples of the Middle EAst until archeological evidence or other writtings backed it up. And they questioned Jesus, until a third party Hebrew named Josephius mentioned him.

    Cabby,

I don’t have time to go in to every aspect of this article, but what I will comment is that this guy seems a little biased, don’t you think?

The FACT is, Paul doesn’t get a fair shake in the media. The good citizens of Texas has re-elected the man many times.

I will try to give my opinion on the article as a whole in the morning.

  11. Cabby AZ,

Wonderful link and article. However; neither Mitt, Newt nor Ron will beat Obama in any election, plain and simple. One only needs to understand their background including the media foresight to comprehend the ultimate set-up for the match which will not favor any current GOP candidate.

Its a farce of an election upcoming to attempt beating Obama on “Policy only” whilst ignoring his qualifications and denial of investigations to begin with. The GOP has lost before the race has even begun. They simply refuse to admit that and so do the GOP followers. Obama will in fact be re-elected, unless the Congress investigates and exposes him to the public. Its that simple.

Well, IB, I believe he is pointing out some aspects that we should think about. I personally am learning new information about most of the candidates practically every day.

This is something about Paul that I’ve thought about frequently, but the author of the article has articulated it well:

“Presidential power is the power to persuade – Congress, media, and ultimately and most important, the American people. The power of the purse, meanwhile, resides on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.”
In 30 years of congressional service he has been unable to convince hardly any of his peers in Congress to support his beliefs.

That is not a sign of leadership, notwithstanding his delivering passionate speeches in protest convincing nobody. He has authored precious little legislation of any consequence.

He was a “lone voice of dissent”, as per his supporters, but why was that? He was seldom ever able to convince even colleagues that would tend to be supportive of his ideology.

LEADERSHIP is a key qualification, all other aspects considered. Paul doesn’t seem to have it.

    Hi, Friend William –
I strongly tend to agree with you. One of the most puzzling things about Ron Paul is his adamant refusal early on to stand with those who persistently and correctly question the eligibility of O to serve as President. That speaks volumes to me, because he is supposed to be a firm constitutionalist. Of course, in all fairness, none of the others has taken a stand either.

  17. I, too, believe the Shroud is authentic. I remember learning in the mid 80’s that there was indeed a burst of energy and the image appears due to the anointments (oils, spice and organic medicinals) applied at the time of dressing created the image of our Lord. Prior to the carbon dating, I remember the threads including shells of insects came from plants from the first century in the Jerusalem region. The fact that it survived the fire is a miracle in itself.

Question: why is there no other similar artifact in the history of the world?

  18. ~ Obama will in fact be re-elected, unless the Congress investigates and exposes him to the public. Its that simple. ~

    O M G. that’s painful. I don’t weep easily. Let’s not give in yet. please.

He doesn’t call then “do nothings” for nothing. We The People will need to draft a candidate before too long. We have the power, if we want it.

“… I did one more thing: Dec 26th, 2008 – I was home visiting my parents for the holidays. I picked up the phone and called Ron Paul. He represents my home town, and my parents and sisters’ family, as well as several childhood friends/classmates. I grew up in Lake Jackson TX, and before he was a congressman, Dr Paul was my OBGYN! (He’s delivered a few thousand babies in my hometown before becoming a congressman) I went to school with his kids; graduated with one of them in ’77. I was able to chat with Dr Paul for a solid 15 minutes that day. During that conversation, I made it VERY clear that I was concerned about Obama’s citizenship. I then point-blank ASKED him if he was going to present an objection to the certification of the electoral votes, based on Obama NOT being a NBC, and a LACK of evidence accordingly. His response: “If I did that, I’d be laughed out of Congress”. What a stunning response. My jaw dropped about 10 inches… That pretty much “did it” for me. It knocked the wind right out of my sails. I haven’t really been the same since. I mean when a so-called “constitutional” man like Dr Paul says something like that, ya just have to ask yourself, “WHAT NOW”??? It was the most surreal 15 minute conversation I’ve ever had with an elected politician.”

“Ron Paul Was Never A “Birther””

““Is there something to it [the so-called “birther” issue], based on what you have heard?” MSNBC host Chris Matthews asked the fiscal conservative Paul on April 19. “Is there any question that our president isn’t legitimate?”

“From my viewpoint, obviously not, because I never bring it up,” Paul replied. “So I’m going to leave it to talk show hosts and to Donald Trump, and let you guys argue it out.”

Strangely that answer wasn’t clear, or good enough, for Matthews. “No, no, but, no, be a — no, be a little more — no, this [answer] is a dodge,” Matthews said. “Is there anything to it?”

“Not that I know of,” Paul said.

Finally Matthews conceded: “You’re not a birther, sir. Thank you. We have given you the stamp of approval. You’re not a birther.””

  20. If Obama wins

…Maybe four more years of Obama will prove a devastating nightmare from which there is no recovery. Whether or not those things are true, the right faces a painful internal argument over what a second Obama victory tells us about what’s happening to the American people.

…Why aren’t the president’s horrible policies driving voters away in droves?…a long decade of reality TV, college sports, and the like have democratized and commercialized the entertainment industry’s pseudo-aristocracies of actors, musicians, and professional athletes, growing the pie of people with a materialistic mindset of self-entitlement. (For every Tim Tebow, there are a thousand alumni of Flavor of Love and LA Ink.)

These developments aren’t liberal plots so much as sweeping cultural changes. But libertarians know well that even the most self-regarding and tribalistic enthusiast of the lower pleasures can also cultivate a basic appreciation for a day-in, day-out independence from the manipulative interference and supervision of a government that claims the prerogatives of omnicompetence while wasting their money, corrupting their representatives, and squandering their prosperity on a vast scale.

…The trouble for Republicans is that so few people dissatisfied with Obama want to vote against him — and that so few ostensibly reasonable voters are willing to express any dissatisfaction at all. That might change as the race for president heats up. But there likely won’t be a sea change. And if there’s no change at all, or a change in the wrong direction, Republicans will have to change their tune, and perhaps even some of their official assumptions, about the American people.

This point is what troubles me to no end. It hearkens back to the sentiment of the Czech article sometime ago. I will repeat it again –
“We can perhaps get rid of a fool who is president, but what about the fools that voted him into office?” (not a direct quote, but similar)

There doesn’t seem to be a sufficient turning around of the electorate to indicate that the required number of folks are paying attention to what is really happening to their country. That is scary and foreboding.

Name ONE GOP Candidate that has a different view than the one Paul has on the eligibility issue.

    Just one.

As far as your article goes, please understand that I am NOT trying to convince ANYONE which way to vote, I simply think the article is OPINION, and everyone has one.

Look, the way I see things is kind of like this “tax cut extension” thing in Congress that we are seeing unfold before us this week.

The President says he wants a one year extension, and so the House passes a one year extension.

The Senate doesn’t even debate the House bill and instead passes a two month extension.

The House won’t put this extension to a vote.

    My opinion is this:

IF this tax extension thing is a good idea…………..why aren’t they making it PERMANENT?

Oh no, one side wants a one year extension, and the other side wants a two month extension.

    It really is a joke.

As far as legislation introduced by Ron Paul, I simply searched and found that Ron Paul recieved the “Best Legislation Filed during the 111th Congress” award for his Audit the Fed bill HR 1207 from the House Freshmen.

Here’s the link to that, and other legislation Paul has introduced:

    http://www.ronpaul.com/category/ron-pauls-legislation/

I respect your opinion Cabby, but the way I see things is that one side wants to kick the can for two months and the other for one year (so to speak).

The ONLY one I hear NOW that actually wants to do things DIFFERENTLY, is Ron Paul.

I liked Cain for exactly the same reason.

    Philo-Publius,

    Thanks for the article.

    Here’s MY opinion:

Say you have a stray cat in your neighborhood and you feel sorry for that cat and put out a small bowl of food for it.

The next day the cat is back, and you do the same thing.

This goes on for a week.

The cat then tells one of it’s friends about the free meal, and so the friend decides to tag along the next day and so you put out a little more food.

Well after a month, you have MANY cats at your door wanting food.

Now can someone explain to me how you get these cats off of the free food “program”?

    Do you:

    A) put out less and less food and have those same MANY cats fighting over it

    or

    B) stop putting food out at all and let the cats fend for themselves?

The problem with the American people is that we don’t want to fend for ourselves anymore, we have allowed the Government to DICTATE to us everything from light bulbs, to toilets, to seat belts and child car seats, to what is taught in our schools to EVERYTHING.

    It really is sad.

And what is REALLY sad is that those who claim to be “conservative” think that one bad candidate is better than another bad candidate.

The indoctrination of the United States citizenry is almost complete.

    Cabby,

If you go to Paul’s wikipedia page and go to the “Tenure” section and scroll down, you will see the legislation Paul has introduced.

    The first line is this:

“Paul authors more bills than the average representative, such as those that impose term limits, or abolish the income tax or the Federal Reserve; many do not escape committee review.”

    Hey All,

Just to clearify my tax extension comment,

I understand that the holdup of the House version in the Senate is the pipeline “trailer” in the bill.

But another “trailer” in the House bill is ANOTHER extension of unemployment benefits.

My opinion on the tax extension is that if it is such a good idea, why are they NOT making it PERMANENT?

    Anyone…………..anyone?

On the pipeline, although I understand the “interstate commerce” clause of the Constitution, I’m not really sure why a private company that wants to put another pipeline (yes folks there’s already one) in can’t buy the property, hire workers and build the pipeline?

How many times has the current pipeline had an environmental problem?

But the President has been told by his environmental supporters that their money will dry up if he approves the pipeline, so the President wants to wait until AFTER the election.

So is the President looking out for the best interest of the Country as a whole, or his campaign coffers?

On the unemployment trailer, unemployment was ORIGINALLY designed to be for 26 weeks, but with this extension it will continue benefits for longer than the current policy of 99 weeks.

As you may surmise, I am against ANY Government run redistribution program, so I don’t even support 26 weeks of unemployment.

    When will the madness end?

  34. “ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE”

    “IN PRESERVING FREEDOM”

By One Pissed-off Vietnam Vet, Presidential Candidate
    December 18, 2011

    Excerpt:

“But as I wrote at the beginning, each of us has that one person whom we remember as a help, even though it didn’t seem so at the time. Sometimes one person is remembered by many, and that’s what it takes, then, isn’t it, just one person who can light the fire, one person who can get the ball rolling. That’s all it takes, just one person, and we all can be that one person to help save our country. Look at the candidates vying for the presidency and ask yourself if they would pound on that podium and yell “YA’ALL BEST PAY ATTENTION!”

In conclusion, in honoring the memory of one of my past teachers, please keep in mind the millions who suffered and died for our Constitution, that their sacrifice was not in vain, but rather to ensure that the beacon of freedom will continue to shine: be that one person to be remembered.”

    Hey Pat,

How could Mitt deport Obama’s Uncle?

Doesn’t a Judge have to do that?

And wasn’t he already ordered out of the Country 20 years ago?

Maybe Mitt would see him off in person.

Being in the Country illegally seems to be a theme of Obama’s family, including Lolo.

DIVINE EXCHANGE (With Lyrics) : Don Moen

    BEHIND THE SONG: DIVINE EXCHANGE

“I wanted to write a modern hymn that helps describe the Divine Exchange that took place when Jesus died on the cross.

According to Old Testament law, the penalty for sin was death. We deserved to die because of our sins, but Jesus gave His life on the cross and died in our place, taking our sin, our shame, our sickness, our loneliness, our guilt, our poverty, so that we could have life, and have it more abundantly.

In essence, Jesus took everything good that was rightfully His as the Son of God, and exchanged it for everything bad that we deserved because of our sin. (Isaiah 53:3-5)

My prayer is that as we sing this hymn, we will all get a better understanding of this ‘Divine Exchange.'” – Don Moen

  37. It just occurred to me why Obama is against the pipeline from Canada to Houston TX. He is protecting the interest of George Soros,s oil interests in Brazil.

Remember back when Obama told Brazil that we would be their best customer, after their oil came on line? Obama also loaned, or gave, Brazil $80million dollars to help them develop their oil industry so we could buy their oil.

The need for Brazilian oil would be reduced, if Canada was sending oil to the U.S.A., and George Soros’s, investment, backed by Obama’s 80 million dollar loan, to develop Brazilian oil, would make less money, or there would be no demand for their oil.

    I am in moderation…..
Can you please post the Christian videos I posted at 7:23, 8:39, 9:28, and 10:05? I posted them under your Shroud of Turin article to share this information with others.

  41. Mr. Wells,

I posted the same Christian videos all over on different web sites. Thanks for posting a few of the videos.

Name ONE GOP Candidate that has a different view than the one Paul has on the eligibility issue.
    *******************************
IB, I wholeheartedly agree, and said as much in my post. They all run from anything that might attack O personally. BTW, thanks for your comments, and I do like to hear your thoughts.

You also referenced Paul’s Fed audit legislation as being an accomplishment, and you are right on with that.

When you said that “Paul authors more bills than the average representative, such as those that impose term limits, or abolish the income tax or the Federal Reserve; many do not escape committee review”, you have made my point. After about thirty years in Congress he seems to lack the persuasiveness to convince his colleagues of his position a great deal of the time.

How in the world would he be able to keep an intention to cut spending by one trillion dollars the first year? He would have to CONVINCE Congress, because the legislative branch holds the purse strings. Does he have the leadership qualities to work with a divided Congress?

  43. Interested Bystander, I agree wholeheartedly that the congressional behavior these past few weeks is deplorable re. the extension of social security tax cuts. It only gets worse, but this is largely a political game being played by the Dems to make the Repubs look bad, and they play more dirty all of the time. The Repubs are going to have to get SMART for a change to counter the Dems’ maneuvers. This has been one big FIASCO! A SNAFU!!!
