corruption retrial, it’s clear prosecutors are guided by the adage
that less is more as they streamline what jurors in the first trial
complained was an overly complicated case.

much of the testimony at the second, this time sitting on spectator
benches rather than in the jury box.
Prosecutors have been right, he added, to begin their presentation by
focusing primarily on the allegation Blagojevich sought to sell or
trade President Barack Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat for campaign
cash or a top job. Last year, they waited weeks before getting to it.”

“A federal judge has set a new sentencing date for a convicted influence peddler and one-time fundraiser for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Judge Amy St. Eve told attorneys at a hearing Friday that she’ll sentence Tony Rezko on Oct. 21.
Rezko’s attorneys and prosecutors had asked the judge earlier to delay Rezko’s sentencing to allow for the possibility he could testify at two upcoming trials, including Blagojevich’s corruption retrial in April.
At Friday’s hearing, the defense also argued in favor of a new trial for Rezko based on a U.S. Supreme Court ruling scaling back so-called honest services laws.”

“Antoin “Tony” Rezko, once a top adviser and contributor to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, will be sentenced Jan. 28 for his role in a scheme to solicit kickbacks from companies seeking state contracts.
Rezko was not at the hearing this morning at which U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve set the sentencing date.
Rezko has agreed to cooperate against Blagojevich but wasn’t called to testify at the former governor’s trial last summer. With Blagojevich’s retrial set to begin in April, Rezko’s sentencing months before could signal he is unlikely to be called again. Defendants usually aren’t sentencing until after their cooperation has been completed.
A sentencing date was not set today for Rezko’s co-defendants, Stuart Levine, Joseph Cari and Steven Loren, who will next return to federal court for a status hearing in March.”

Prior to the 2004 election, I found an interesting book at Barnes and Noble. It was $24.95 but I thought that I could get it cheaper at Amazon.com. I checked when I got home but Amazon was out of the book and copies were available through Amazon booksellers at a about $60 to $70! For a paperback! I went back to B&N and bought the book. I looked for weeks later at bookstores and on the internet and couldn’t find a copy of the book ANYWHERE!
The title of the book? “DECEPTION How Clinton Sold America Out to the Chinese Military” by Charles R. Smith. It told how Clinton gave a waiver to Loral to launch a satellite from China and as a result, China acquired our satellite technology. You can buy the same book now for a pittance.
Why is the price of your book so high at Amazon? Could be someone doesn’t want it to be around come election time.

I, too, have received long-form BCs on family members (deceased) for genealogical purposes. No problem. During my family research, I received a copy of my own long form. Somehow I misplaced my long form after photocopying it for a couple of family books I put together. A few years ago, I applied for another copy and they sent me a short form, even though I requested and paid for (what I thought) was a long form version because we have, over the years, enjoyed a few vacations in Canada and I wanted a passport. After all the hullabaloo (sp?) over Obama’s long form BC, I doubt now that I could get a long form version of my BC. I swear, my roots go back to the early 1600s in this country. Male members of my family have fought in almost every major war/skirmish/battle for freedom over the years, but I don’t think that makes a hill of beans worth of difference (now) to the Powers at Be…..do you?

The other keepers of vital statistics shouldn’t be affected by Hawaii’s shenanigans. Tell them you are into genealogy and want a copy of your original birth certificate. You may want to ask for other family BCs while you’re at it.

Hawaii DOH receives request for releasing original BO documentation, yet they respond that they can not do it for privacy reasons ? Yet BO gave them explicit instructions to do so. Therefore anyone requesting information should get a hold of the letter that BO posted all over the internet authorizing release of the information. Send the letter to the DOH head with a “say what”? letter explicitly stating BO authorized release of information. HI DOH has no leg to stand on now and further tarnishes there previously known “no credibility whatsoever” image.
