“Obama 9th Circuit Nominee: Constitution Must Adapt to Changes in the World”
“Goodwin Liu is President Obama’s nominee to be a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (Stanford University).
Even his critics describe him as “brilliant,” but President Obama’s newly minted judicial nominee — law professor Goodwin Liu — will not have an easy time getting to the 9th Circuit bench.
At age 39, Liu has compiled an impressive resume: Rhodes Scholar, Supreme Court clerk, top grades at both Stanford University and Yale Law School and now law professor University of California, Berkeley.
Liu has also aligned himself with progressive legal groups, including the American Constitution Society, where he is chairman of the board of directors. That’s prompting opponents to argue that Liu is “too far outside the mainstream” to take a seat on a court just one step below the Supreme Court of the United States.
“He believes the Constitution is something judges can manipulate to have it say what they think culture or evolving standards of decency requires of it in a given day,” said the Senate Judiciary Committee’s top Republican Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.
Ed Whelan, a one-time clerk to Justice Antonin Scalia and now president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, echoed those concerns.
“Liu believes that judges have the authority to impose their views … using clever verbal camouflage to disguise what they’re doing.”
Liu opponents point to a number of his writings, including a book he co-authored in 2009 called “Keeping Faith with the Constitution,” in which the authors opine about their concept of judicial interpretation.
“Applications of constitutional text and principles must be open to adaptation and change … as the conditions and norms of our society become ever more distant from those of the Founding generation.””

I have seen a lot of people who were regarded to be “brilliant”, in my life time. Most of the “brilliant” people I have seen didn’t have an ounce of common sense or mechanical aptitude, and were in my mind very weird. This idea that “brilliant” people should be in government, making laws for the rest of us is anything but brilliant. We need less brilliance and more patriotism.
Our Constitution has sufficed for over 200 years. Who is the SNOT NOSED LITTLE Soetoro APPOINTEE who now thinks that it should be changed to accommodate,his/her own sick little beliefs. Just because he is an ALLEGED RHODES SCHOLAR doesn’t give him the right to attempt to change our Constitution in any way, shape, or form.
LIBERAL judges is one of the problems with our US court system today. These are judges who think that they are there to MAKE law rather than to uphold existing law. This tells me that nobody will ever get a fair shake in any of our Federal Courts,and even in our County Superior Courts. They too are fast becoming corrupt.

They have been lying about Bush’s tax cuts since it was being discussed in CONgress and they continue LYING by ommission.
They IMPLY that Bush gave taxcuts ONLY to the rich when in FACT he gave taxcuts to EVERY WORKER and everyone that Pays Taxes which are the ones that deserve a prize since they are the ones that PAY for EVERYONE ELESE that doesn’t work BUT EATS and those that committ fraud or entered illegally and are ripping off the American Economy everyday that they work here and pay NO TAXES. When an illegal steals a job and doesn’t pay their FAIR SHARE some other worker has to Carry That Tax Burden as well as his. This is one of the reasons why our economy is a MESS.
It is pretty simple to see:
If you have a family of 5 and only one works but all the others take from that it i sMUCH harder than if 2-3 people work to take care of that family.
The is the one thing I hated about BUSH he didn’t know how to defend his ideas when they were “SHOUTED DOWN” by his and America’s Enemies in the Erosionist Party and the Media. He should haev at least hired someone like Rush or Laura Ingraham to Defedn those ideas and go around the country promoting them in round tables and town halls.
This was necessary for Taxcuts, Health Insurance Savings acc’ts and Private Retirement Acc’ts (Social Security). When explain properly I bet over 90% would approve of getting their own Private Social Scurity Acc’ts BUT when SABOTAGED by the Party of Failure and explained by them everyone thinks it horrific. That is why you need to have great communicator that know how to promote these great ideas. Someone at least as good as the Erosionists that know how to twist and turn, slice and dice and make helping granny a horrific act if it is done by someone other than their LIEberal Party of Failure.

I stand with you on your last comment. Another aspect of all that has been going on since Bush took office the first time is the cost of vehicle fuel. To really get a handle on this you only need to take a look at the political faith of the CEOs of the US Oil Companies. I agree with you…the base, life-long Dems no longer recognize their party. When they moved offices to Chicago before the election, it was plain to see pp had taken over the party. Unfortunately for him, though, the party base had already jumped ship. I wonder how many of the “Blue Dogs” are thinking of doing the same thing. I wonder, too, if taking over the party was planned maybe, splintering the party was not.

The rumor today in Chicago is that Alexi Giannoulias is going to be forced to step aside as the Democrats’ nominee for the Senate race to fill Roland Burris’ seat upon retirement. Not to “spend more time with his family”, as slimeballs like this usually say, but because the criminal enterprise his family runs, the mob’s bank, Broadway Bank, is collapsing.
It’s coming out the Giannoulias family siphoned more than $70 million from the bank, to pay their back taxes, and to pretty much recreating the HBO series “The Sopranos”, all around Chicago.
There is absolutely nothing good we can say about Alexi Giannoulias, except that it’s nice he’s not a twin, and great he’s fathered no children. Perhaps, dare we dream, his genes will end with him.

Interesting point you make! They found out too late they backed a usurper…they probably thought he was good to go without the vetting process.
One problem with that theory is…why didn’t they know he was an impostor in 2004 when he spoke at their convention? Did they think they could get away with it easily after the Repubs put up McCain? When was it too late to turn back?
I think they knew or jbjd would not have discovered they had to put forth two different certifications to get him on the ballot.
Sounds like they have been covering their tracks for some time now. Someone had to make sure all of those records were sealed, and their secrets were safe. Maybe, the DNC did not have a choice. If he was “selected” as we suspect, they had no choice but to back him. Isn’t the DNC financially broke?
It just makes the case for a “master class” determining who gets to run and who does not. Hillary was too headstrong and smart to be “selected.” They needed a DumbA$$, and it looks like they found one IMHO.

Chicago was always showing old movies. They were the best-great actors, actresses-plots, the editing was so much better then, I think they should still be shown they are such classics and you always learned something. Histories, biographies, so many old great movies, most of today’s movies are garbage compared but not all.
I think Hollywood relies on too much gimmickry today, just boring in my opinion.

Good question: my first thought-they are stupid and just assumed that since he was a Senator from Illinois that Illinois vetted him-hence he would not be a Senator. I just don’t know, it’s the old what did they know, and when did they know it.
The DNC starts their weird plan, somewhere along the line they find out no way is Obama eligible for potus, then they begin all the lying, sealing, document changing/forging. I just don’t know. Plus had they done “the job” correctly we would never have been the wiser. Seems to me they missed some things here and there, not counting on the due diligence re: concerned citizens “something is wrong here”. Like Nixon when did the lies start and the cover-ups begin, who is involved. Too much stuff doesn’t add.

Well one thing the Dems have done rather successfully is shown where all the corruption and incompetence lay. Now we can do something about it. They became so blatant with Obama-Reid-Pelosi you would have to be blind not to see it. This makes most of the American people very unhappy with the Obama corrupt government. We are all seeing some really good people coming out of the Republican side Michelle Bachman, Paul Ryan-all the Republicans who are fighting Obama. If the Republicans are smart they will welcome with open arms the Constitutionalist Party and the Tea Party-adapt their ideals and listen to them and listen hard. I think most Americans are fed up with the Obama regime, that didn’t take long although it is so painful- the Obama regime it feels like a million years.

This is for the sovernity of the state. The state has control over the state itself and not the federal government.
I am on a committee here in Kentucky for the 10th ammendment. We have a state legislator that has proposed a bill for it but we are up against the head of the legislative body whom says we are with Glenn Beck whom he despises.
One of our guys told him that we are citizens and therefore concerned for our state. So we will see. We just have to be vigilant in what we want to accomplish. We have a rally and will be at the Capital on Tuesday morning at 7:30 to show our persistance on this bill.

Your faith is inspiring. I remember reading (who knows where at this point) about the goals of the Weather Underground. They knew they needed a massive uprising against the government, they weren’t protesting the war, they wanted a revolution. They knew they might not win, still, that was their method to bring about change. Well, they are almost there and we will see who wins. These events always appear right on cue. The 9/11 truth movement has made a lot of mainstream headway recently. Odious characters like Beck have been sent in to attack. The problem for the regime is that they can only counter them with demonization. It’s the way it always goes with these things. First they laugh and ridicule. When this doesn’t work they start hating and demonizing. After that they start fighting.
The reason for all this is that they can’t field a rational argument. The regime want a disarmed population but this is very hard for them. In the last two years alone gun ownership has jumped by at least 25 million firearms. They want to terrorise the population but, being essentially craven cowards, they are scared of getting blown away for it.

remember when you were a kidlet. The House Republicans with their 20 per cent amendment are doing not only the country a huge favor, but also the politicians a huge favor. Remember when you were a kid and didn’t want to do something that your friends wanted you to do and you just said My Mother won’t allow that. These guys could end a lot of the pork, extortion etc. with this bill alone. All the politician would have to say to a greedy constituent sorry the 20 per cent amendment won’t allow that. Could solve a lot of problems this bill and reign in a lot of run away spending for which the taxpayers would be eternally grateful. Every American citizen needs to act like a patriot and do whats good for the country and that includes the politicians. Not Obama, Reid and Pelosi they are beyond help, they can’t act like patriots simply don’t know how. We know their agenda and it is NOT with WITH THE PEOPLE it is all about them and their strange un-American agenda.

Some of this stuff makes me nuts until I can figure it out. Just from what I read in the article it seems to combine extortion with scam with sprinkles of Climagate thrown in. I can see a phasing out of former/old sources of energy to be replaced by a newer more efficient model. Not someone with a gun demanding everything old be replaced overnight. I understand the fake biography that Ayers wrote for Obama “Dreams of my Father” but the photo shopped pictures really take the cake. I’m so glad that the people who recognize this for what it is- just more fakes publish it. I’m getting better at recognizing the fakes. I always wondered why/how his head kept changing shape, thought it was just me.
