“Weak durable goods orders point to sluggish economy
Orders for long-lasting manufactured goods recorded their biggest drop in seven months in March and a gauge of planned business spending rose only modestly, signs of a slowdown in economic activity.
Durable goods orders slumped 5.7 percent as demand fell almost across the board, the Commerce Department said on Wednesday. The drop last month in orders for these goods, which range from toasters to aircraft, followed a 4.3 percent increase in February.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected orders to fall only 2.8 percent. Excluding transportation, orders declined 1.4 percent after falling 1.7 percent the prior month.”

BOSTON, April 24 (UPI) — The mosque attended by the two brothers suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings is associated with other terror suspects, an interfaith organization said.
Several people who attended the Islamic Society of Boston mosque in Cambridge, Mass., have been investigated for terrorism, while its sister mosque in Boston, the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, has invited guests who have defended terrorism suspects, USA Today reported Wednesday.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev attended the Cambridge mosque and are accused of setting two bombs that killed three people and injured at least 260 others at the April 15 Boston Marathon. On Friday, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a shootout with police and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, later was captured.
Charles Jacobs, leader of the interfaith Americans for Peace and Tolerance that investigated the mosques, said the two mosques teach a type of Islamic thought that promotes grievances against the West, a distrust of law enforcement and opposition to Western government, dress and social values.
“We don’t know where these boys were radicalized, but this mosque has a curriculum that radicalizes people. Other people have been radicalized there,” Jacobs told USA Today.

Australian Defence Force disciplines Reserve Intelligence Officer for discussing Islam
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has charged an Army Reserve Intelligence Officer, Bernard Gaynor, for discussing links between Islam and terrorist activity.
The charges were laid today, despite an internal investigation by the ADF’s Investigative Service finding that there was no basis for disciplinary action.

During her testimony on the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano declared that she, President Barack Obama and other political officials at the top of this administration have the authority to decide which laws to enforce, and which ones to ignore.
Napolitano made the declaration in an exchange with Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) when he was questioning her on how Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have alleged that political officials in the Obama administration, including her, have blocked them from enforcing the law.
Sessions noted that ICE agents’ union president Chris Crane had testified on Monday “that agents are prohibited from enforcing the law and, indeed, the ICE officers have filed a lawsuit [to that effect].”
“I started out as a federal prosecutor in the Department of Justice in 1975,” Sessions said. “I have never heard of a situation in which a group of law officers sued their supervisor and you for blocking them from following the law. They weren’t complaining about pay, benefits, working conditions. They were saying their very oath they took, to enforce the law, is being blocked by rules and regulations and policies established from on high and that this is undermining their ability to do what they’re sworn to do.”
In her response to those remarks from Sessions, Napolitano said she believes she and other political officials have the authority to tell law enforcement agents which laws to enforce and which ones to ignore.

House Republican Leader Gene Chandler also issued a statement today denouncing Tremblay’s remarks as “highly offensive, egregious, and irrational.
“I am ashamed that Rep. Tremblay saw fit to disseminate radical conspiracy theories online,” Chandler added. “She in no way represents the views of the caucus, the Republican party or the Granite State.”

“Because he was being interviewed, [after the he was at that point put on a watchlist, and then when it was quickly determined he had nothing to do with the bombing, the watch listing status was removed,” she told Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“Napolitano seems to either flatly contradict herself or openly admit that it is easy for someone to be put on a terrorist watchlist even though they don’t reach ‘person of interest’ status,” Walid Shoebat writes on his blog today. “That’s either a lie or a chilling statement of what this government is doing.”
A couple obvious questions come to mind. First, why did the First Lady visit a man who was on a terror watch list, no matter how briefly, and second, how is it that he gained access to what is supposedly one of the most secure buildings in the United States?
Is it possible we can attribute the hospital visit and multiple visits to the White House to a special relationship shared between Saudi royals and at least two presidents? For instance, is well-known that George W. Bush had a close relationship with the corrupt Saudi monarchy.
It is important to note that it was the Department of Homeland Security that initially labeled al-Harbi as a suspected terrorist and the alternative media is merely following up on this fact.
Government released and micromanaged evidence in the Boston bombing case implicates the Tsarnaev brothers as the culprits and not Abdul Rahman Ali al-Harbi. His presence at the scene, while suspicious, does not implicit him in this crime.
