“The issue in question is a federal edict requiring that all organizations provide their employees with access to birth control and abortion as part of their health plans. It explicitly includes the Catholic Church — its schools, its colleges, its hospitals, its institutions — in open defiance of the Church’s basic teachings regarding human sexuality. This edict is a direct product of Obama’s health care scheme and is derived completely from his philosophy.
With this move, Obama has thrown down the gauntlet. How will the Church respond? It could be as straightforward as thousands of priests standing before their congregations the last Sunday of October and encouraging them to go into the voting booth to punish the enemies of all that is holy. Believers, no matter what their connection to the eternal, will see Obama as a man who has profaned the temple. A man who sees himself as over and above the divine. They all know their history, they are all aware of what becomes of such types, and they will respond as their faith requires of them.

Hey All,
If I might be given just a couple of minutes here, I’d like to give my opinion on these ballot challenges.
For one, JBJD suggests that a candidate on a ballot does not have to be eigible for that office to be on a ballot.
Maybe I’m just an idiot, but when I go in to vote, my first impression isn’t “is this candidate eligible for the office”, it’s “who’s the best person for the job”.
It is my opinion that it is “above my pay grade” to determine whether the person I am voting for is eligible, or even what the requirements are to be on the ballot.
It is my belief that this is why we pay our administration. It is THEIR responsibility to ensure the candidates are eligible, whether or not there is a law stating a candidate has to be eligible for that office, or not.
In my opinion, if someone is allowed to be on the ballot, then they MUST be eligible.
What JBJD is suggesting is that just because a candidate is on a ballot, then the voters need to know what the eligibility requirement is for each office I am voting for. I find that kind of overwhelming.
If the United States Constitution says that a person has to be a natural born citizen to be President, and the SoS is the person who is in charge of the ballot printing, then that person should be responsible for ensuring the candidates are eligible.
And if the Consitution says that a person has to be a natural born citizen to be President, then that should be the guiding principle for who gets on the ballot.
The Constitution is supposed to be our “safety net”.
I know it’s been going on for a lot longer than this example, but lawyers have been “confusing” the average person for a long time. It really hit home for a bunch of people when Clinton uttered the words “it depends on what the meaning of is, is”, and continues with this “standing” issue concerning eligibility.
To ensure that the voting public is voting for only ELIGIBLE candidates, it just seems reasonable to me that those entrusted by us to run elections should be responsible for ensuring only ELIGIBLE candidates are on the ballot.
The Constitution says only natural born citizens can hold the office of President, so only natural born citizens should be allowed on the ballot.

Everyone has an opinion; if you want your state to mandate that anyone running for President on your ballot is eligible for the job; then, write that into your state law. If citizens like you write laws saying the nominee of the political party is entitled to be on the ballot then, why blame Obama for getting his name on the ballot? If citizens like you write laws saying state electors must cast their votes for the nominee of the party then, why blame Obama for being elected President? If citizens like you are competent to write ballot laws with regard to every other aspect of the election; then, why haven’t you written laws requiring the candidate for President to be Constitutionally eligible for the job in order to appear on the ballot; and rules to carry out laws requiring ballot eligibility, which would include assigning someone to check? Then, you could ensure electors only elected qualified candidates by prohibiting a vote for a candidate whose name was on the ballot.
Stop focusing on me and my opinions. Red herring. If you don’t like the current status of the election system in your state; change it.

I like reading your comments Coot, but this is one comment I can NOT agree with.
Ron Paul is NO coward. Go back and look at all of the legislation he has introduced over the years (yeah those bills that were never considered), and you will see that he is standing up for US, more than ANY other Representative.
For you to be of the opinion that Paul is “afraid” of Iran is just absurd. For one thing, Iran isn’t a threat to the United States. They may be a threat to Eastern Europe and Israel, but they don’t have a missle that is capable fo reaching the US. And Paul has stated that it is Israel who would “take care” of any threats they feel from Iran.
I believe that. I believe that if Israel felt threatened, they’d take care of it.
Why do we have to be involved? Why do people feel that we have to have our nose in EVERYTHING?
And Coot, Paul doesn’t “want to let” Iran to have nukes, he is simply a REALIST, and understands there is NOTHING we can do to stop them from having nukes. All of the efforts have FAILED so far, and it doesn’t look good that we will be successful in stopping them from getting nukes.
The question I have for you is, what do we do to STOP them from getting nukes?
It’s not a matter of who “wants” Iran to have nukes, it is what are we going to DO to stop them from getting nukes.

If you want to see where our culture may next go off the rails, read professional journals. There, in often eye-crossing and passive arcane prose of the medical intelligentsia, you will discover an astonishing level of antipathy to the sanctity of human life — to the point now that some advocate killing the profoundly disabled for their organs.
Case in point: “What Makes Killing Wrong?” an article published in the January 19, 2012 edition of the Journal of Medical Ethics. The authors argue that death and total disability are morally indistinguishable, and therefore harvesting organs from living disabled patients is not morally wrong. Bioethicists Walter Sinnott-Armstrong, of Duke University, and Franklin G. Miller, from the National Institutes of Health’s Department of Bioethics (which should really get the alarm bells ringing!) arrive at their shocking (for most of us) conclusion by claiming that murdering the hypothetical “Betty” isn’t wrong because it kills her, but rather, because it “makes her unable to do anything, including walking, talking, and even thinking and feeling.”

Betty has mental states, at least intermittently and temporarily, so she is not dead by any standard or plausible criterion. Still, she is universally disabled because she has no control over anything that goes on in her body or mind.
Since Betty “is no worse off being dead than totally disabled,” they opine, it is no worse “to kill Betty than to totally disable her.”

The Constitution states that only a natural born citizen can hold the office.
There’s really no need for a State Law, at least in my opinion.

One more thing,
You continually state that “we” write the laws for our State. I don’t know who this “we” is, but I have never written a law, I elect a State Representative that is supposed to do that.
My whole point is that there is no need for a State Law for National office. The Constitution states the requirements to qualify for office, and THAT should be the guideline for who gets on the ballot.
But you lawyers have to complicate things.

Mr. Maldonado cannot both accuse President Obama of being “above” the law; and, at the same time, based his charges on MO law. Because under MO law, no requirement exists that in order to appear on the ballot, he must be eligible for the job.

It is my understanding that Mr. Maldonado’s complaint is that the Missouri vetting process of all candidates is extremely lax and inconsistent. He and another man were the ONLY candidates that were required to prove citizenship before SOS Robin Carnahan would place their names on the ballot. Why were they singled out?
If they were required to prove citizenship shouldn’t other candidates, including presidential candidates, also be required to do the same? I presented my 65 year old birth certificate AND proof of MO residency when I renewed my Missouri driver’s license. Maldonado had to give the SOS a copy of his citizenship papers before he was placed on the ballot. McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden didn’t have to provide one minuscule form of identification in order to run for the most important positions in the free world. Maldonado wants to change that.

And of course….if you have the final decider him/herself making the decision according to the powers holding the cards….like if he/she is willing to break other requirements within the law (not holding parties in contempt of a court that may decide that question), why not this one too? So, this being the case, those who are throwing discovery at various litigating walls, hoping something might stick, don’t seem as dumb as some might hope to influence others to think! Again, it’s the climate of lawlessness….I mean just look at the top…..DOJ….and there you have your chances spelled out for those who follow the rules. Rather, greater and greater publicity of the obvious corruption has slowly but surely influenced at least some of the clueless to wake up.

But whatever they achieve, applies to you as well. So, you can either begin to educate yourself about these issues, all of which are spelled out, already, on my blog, including how to finally create a legal case which could reach the federal appellate court and, define once and for all, what is NBC for the purpose of Presidential eligibility; or, you can keep writing your petty petulant comments and expose yourself as a freeloading citizen, like so many others, who have energy to ridicule but not to rule.

The impetus for the law comes from the citizens. (Don’t you know how laws are passed? If not then, learn.) Citizens not only elect the legislators who write the laws; but, they also petition their elected representatives to write these laws. Often, educated citizens are the legislators’ best source of information on specialized information. (Years ago, my local representative heard I had done work in college on mandatory drug testing in the federal workplace. He came to my home to discuss the issue.) Your state government web site posts the legislative calendar, listing public hearings on proposed legislation. (I testified at a state hearing on funding for public higher ed; the special scholarship I had received did not cover fees and I complained, the fees were as high as the tuition. After my testimony, the scholarship was expanded so as to include fees, for everyone after me.)
By focusing on me, parsing words and arguing as nauseum about what they should mean; or what they mean to you; you expose the flaws in all of your arguments. That is, if words were as exact as you would have us believe then, no one would possibly disagree about their meaning; and we would need no laws to set a societal standard of conduct; and no courts to fine tune their meaning. Calls on Obama to keep stated promise to vets
The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign today released the following Open Letter from Dr. Paul to President Barack Obama:
“Dear President Obama,
“As a Doctor, an Air Force Veteran, and Congressman, who serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee and has always fought for the best interest of our troops, I was deeply concerned to learn that our military retirees are now facing benefit cuts under your proposed $1.5 trillion dollar tax hike.
“Our military men and women have fought bravely. In exchange, our country made a promise to them, and we must honor it.
“There are trillions of dollars in unwise and unconstitutional spending we must cut. There are few other leaders in Washington willing to cut spending as deeply as I am and truly balance our budget. But, we must make sure we take care of our Veterans who fought to take care of us.
“We have put our troops in harm’s way, and we must honor our promises. And, our troops have paid a heavy price these past ten years. Over 5,000 have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, 40,000 have seen crushing injuries, and hundreds of thousands more suffer from brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder.
“Failing to meet the promises we have made to our troops would be unjust and immoral. The cuts you announced yesterday, combined with the rumored cuts in benefits reported in publications like Army Times, have our soldiers and Veterans deeply concerned.

American Thinker’s, Cindy Simpson, has an article up this morning that gets to the essence of why this issue will not go away. Obama’s fictional life narrative offends the common sense of millions of American’s. I hoped that I could say 99% of Americans so I could finally identify with the “we are the 99” crowd on something. Unfortunately, I couldn’t.
Obama’s Eligibility Diversion
…And in Georgia, the mainstream media orchestrated a blackout.
In my column on the significance of the media’s inattention and the judge’s ruling on the Georgia challenges, I fretted that the outcome further entrenched the notion that even babies born to “birth tourists” were “natural born” citizens. I also specifically noted the interesting case of Anwar al-Awlaki.
Awlaki recently made headlines as an unlawfully assassinated U.S. citizen. Born in New Mexico to Yemeni parents in the U.S. temporarily to attend college, Awlaki lived in the U.S. until he was seven and his family moved back to Yemen. Awlaki returned to the U.S. in 1991 to attend Colorado State University, where he received a U.S.-funded scholarship reserved for foreign-born applicants. The State Department investigation into Awlaki after 9/11 obtained his passport records, birth certificate, scholarship applications, Social Security records, etc., and discovered that he lied about his birthplace, claiming it was Yemen.
Recalling this history of Awlaki reminded me of one of the most interesting items of Obama’s past — the story of the Occidental College records.
As documented by The Obama File, in the eligibility case brought by former presidential candidate Alan Keyes, the presiding judge had approved a subpoena for all records held by Occidental on Obama. Rumors were flying that Obama had registered there as a foreign student. At the very last moment, Obama’s attorney obtained a quash, and none of the Occidental records were released.
The incident has not been forgotten around the blogosphere, however, and even Mike Huckabee suggested recently that Obama should be asked to produce his college transcripts and prove that he didn’t receive foreign student loans.
We’ve seen Governor Perry’s transcripts. Newt Gingrich’s divorce papers. Details of Herman Cain’s personal affairs. Sarah Palin’s e-mails. Mitt Romney’s job-creation record at Bain.
Why don’t we have details of Obama’s life or career, even in his official capacity as a state senator? Is Obama truly the haloed saint the media portrays — is his past squeaky-clean, or uncannily unreal?
Instead of anything substantive to place in Obama’s vetting file, we got a vague autobiography and a book of campaign speeches. Jack Cashill, author of Deconstructing Obama, has researched and written much about not only the very questionable authorship of both books, but also the inconsistencies in Obama’s life story.
Other tidbits in the quest for Obama’s past include Hawaii Governor Abercrombie’s search for the elusive long-form birth certificate — apparently there the whole time, had Obama only requested it.
Recall the passport records breach at the beginning of the 2008 campaign? Obama’s slip to the press a couple of weeks later that he visited Pakistan after graduating from college in 1981? The retreat to Bali to finish his book?
Rashid Khalidi? Jeremiah Wright? Neighbor Bill Ayers? Tony Rezko? Does the pattern of Obama’s past reveal…something?
After almost four years into the reality of Obama’s presidency, many Americans are beginning to wonder if the portrait painted by the media during the 2008 campaign was fiction, or merely the reflection of their own dreams on the blank screen that Obama offered.
Even the conservative media rarely dug into Obama’s past. At least Obama had to deflect some criticism from Hillary in 2008. Now, he gets a free pass from members of his own party and the subservient mainstream….

The problem is we have TOO MANY LAWS.
I stand by my opinion that we have a “reasonable assumption” that if we go in to vote, that the candidates on the ballot are eligible to hold the office.
