SC primary January 21, 2012, Retired teacher undecided, I don’t want Obama for another four years, Rick Santorum endorsement

From the Wall Street Journal January 12, 2012.

“A Lesson on the S.C. Primary”

“After 30 years of running the mock elections at a public school in Orangeburg, S.C.,  retired teacher Linda Davis is enjoying the first Republican primary race where she can show her true colors.”

““My students never knew I normally vote Republican,” Ms. Davis said Thursday at a campaign stop in Orangeburg for Texas Gov. Rick Perry. As a teacher of third, fourth and fifth graders, “I couldn’t put a yard sign out — the kids knew where I lived,” she said. “Now I have the opportunity to go out and speak my mind.”

Ms. Davis hasn’t yet decided who she will support in the state’s Jan. 21 primary, even after watching every debate.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has “a lot of baggage,” and she worried about Mr. Perry’s ability to beat President Barack Obama in a general election. “I’m leaning toward [Mitt] Romney because I don’t want Obama for another four years,” she said. But he hasn’t sealed the deal.

“I probably won’t make my final decision until the morning I go to vote,” she said.”

From the Chicago tribune January 8, 2012.

“Rick Santorum says South Carolina his ‘best chance to win'”

“Rick Santorum’s campaign continued to gain momentum Sunday as he made two campaign stops in South Carolina, where he was met with cheering crowds and picked up an endorsement from conservative leader Gary Bauer.

“For me, Ronald Reagan has always defined what the right political position was in the U.S. I gave up on the idea that I would ever find another Ronald Reagan,” Bauer, a former Reagan advisor, said at a Republican fundraiser in Greenville. “Over the last year I’ve watched [Santorum] as he’s gone out and talked to the American people…. I realized the next Ronald Reagan was standing in front of me the whole time.”

The endorsement is another feather in the cap of Santorum, who has seen his poll numbers surge in the past two weeks. Recent polls show Mitt Romneyleading the state with about one-third of the vote, with Santorum and Gingrich tied for second with about 20% each. But even that is a surprising change for Santorum, who had polled as low as 2% in South Carolina in December.

The surge in popularity follows his second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, and is a strong contrast to just a few weeks ago, when many of Santorum’s events drew only a few dozen people and little media attention.

“People were always saying to us, ‘We like him; he’s just not doing well in the polls and we don’t want to throw our vote away.’ ” Santorum said Sunday. “As soon as it became apparent that we could actually do well, our numbers went from, in the last five days, from 15 to 25, and that’s momentum.””

Remember that old saying – “Moderation in ALL things, Except Moderation.”

  2. I like Rick Santorum, CW. I can say that of all the candidates that his values, as a Catholic, are the closest to mine. We are way down the line in the process out here in Colorado so a lot is going to happen between now and then. I wasted a lot of energy getting behind Cain in the early days and he fizzled out.

    Hey All,

I stated this a few days ago, and I will state this now.

For Romney to be beat, either Santorum or Gingrich needs to drop out.

They are the same on the issues, and are splitting the vote that could beat Romney.

Although to be honest, I wish ALL of the candidates except for Romney and Paul would drop out and give the people a REAL choice.

I’m betting EVERYONE would be surprised at the support Paul would get if he and Romney were the two choices.

    Pat,

Although we are still over a week away from the SC primary, it appears your prediction of Paul being “done” is once again off base.

Paul’s poll numbers continue to rise in SC, and as a supporter, I believe that he has the potential to come in third ahead of either Santorum or Gingrich.

It is also nice to see Paul actually defend his positions and “smacking down” those who are trying to put words in his mouth.

  5. IB, I left you a couple notes at bottom of prior thread.

My theory – As more people become unemployed they become Democrats for the unemployment checks. Pretty soon they will become the largest voting block in the nation. As much as Romney has a liberal Republican stance, his business acumen gives him a cut above the rest. Ron Paul has a definite hold on the young liberals which would draw heavily on Obama’s main popularity, especially his theory on marijuana becoming legal. Look at his popularity with the OWS crowd. Now here is the problem – Who the “H” wants to be the President if and when the whole ball of wax melts- AND IT
COULD and they all know it. If the Eligibility or MF Global doesn’t bring Obama down, then the only alternative is a Romney Republican ticket and a Ron Paul Independent Party. Repeating again, a no 271 electoral college votes majority to win the election, THUS leaving it up to a Republican House of Representatives to DECIDE. Hopefully they will choose the right one.

PS – For you older folks – Remember the hold FDR held over the people at the height of the Depression? He won 3 terms.

D-RATS would love to have Nutter Paul win the GOP nomination.

That being said, it doesn’t matter, he’s still too old and will lose. He’s setting up Rand for 2016

Nobody has to pit words in his mouth, we have 20 years of nutter video we will use to help him remember. The best is yet to come………

  9. I’ll get behind Rand in an instant if/when he chooses to run for President.

    Continued……..

    The Bill of Rights
    Amendments I – X (Adopted 1791)
    Amendment 1
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

    8. ” and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” Has any of our grievances concerning Mr. Obama been heard yet? Has any case been judged on it’s merits yet?
8a. ” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” So where does Congress get the authority to deny any county or state government from displaying the 10 Commandments? Didn’t they pass a law banning the display?? – I guess this amendment is gone too.

    Amendment 2
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

    9. Isn’t requiring a license an infringment? I think so. Why do I as an adult Natural Born Citizen have to beg and pay for the right to keep and bear arms?? – I guess this amendment is gone too.

    Amendment 4
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

    10. So, where does the government get the right to take nude pictures and/or inspect my private parts in order to utilize a private transportation vehicle? If the owners of the vehicle (airline) wants to add that to the contract (ticket) then that is their right, not the governments. I want to see the warrant with probable case and my name listed signed by a judge. I don’t want a witch hunt. – I guess this amendment is gone too.

    To be continued……….

  11. Just to announce,

I got an email update from Commander Charles. Apparently, Lt. Col, Cook (was Major Cook), has passed away today.

May he rest in peace and bless his family.

I believe Shannon on the postandemail has an update.

Top 5 ‘Let them eat cake’ moments of the Obamas
    Rick Moran

Not included in this list was the $700,000 and more spent by the Obama’s jetting off to Copenhagen to lobby the IOC to choose Chicago for the 2016 Olympic games.

Still, the Obama’s apparently like the perks and prestige of the office and feel no remorse whatsoever about living high on the hog at the taxpayer’s expense.

    =================================
    Old Coot,
I saw your post regarding the Constitution Shredded in its entirety over at FR.. Excellent!

  14. A Crazy Old Coot's avatar A Crazy Old Coot

Thank you. I was just going to quit posting anywhere, but decided I would at least let people know what I was thinking. And, my thoughts are worth exactly what you pay for them.

Thanks again for the kind remark.

  15. Citizen Wells,
I speak from the deepest well in my heart when I once again thank you for your efforts and your blog. I am certain that many other feel the same as I in their admiration for your efforts.

Just to lighten things a little I would like to say that I sent you a check for 1.5 trillion and I would now like my money back. Perhaps I am mistaken, …..that may have been the debt for the last 12 months under Obama. I don’t see that money getting returned either, but at least the money that I would have sent here went to productive use.

    Pete

    CW,

I would second the comment by Pete.

    Thank you VERY much.

    Paxson,

Of course you are one my favorites.

Heck, you actually made me LOOK at Cain.

    Cabby,

Yes Cabby I live in the next State to the west of Ohio, just like oldsalt. We ARE the “Crossroads of America”. I’d LOVE to have a “sit down” with BOTH of you just to expand my knowledge.

As far as our debating goes, you know what they say, it’s ok to disagree with a “family” member, but boy when an outsider criticizes you, you can bet that I’ll be one of the first to defend you.

You commented that you moved to AZ 50 years ago, that must have been when you were what, 3 or 4 years old?

    Pat commented:

“Nobody has to pit words in his mouth, we have 20 years of nutter video we will use to help him remember. The best is yet to come”

So you’re showing your “true” colors.

    Interesting.

And if this prediction is anything like your other predictions….

    Mr. Bill(ms. helga) commented:

“Ron Paul has a definite hold on the young liberals which would draw heavily on Obama’s main popularity, especially his theory on marijuana becoming legal.”

Just so YOU are clear on Paul’s position on drugs. He wants to repeal the FEDERAL LAWS.

STATES can legalize them or they can keep them ILLEGAL. It would be up to the STATES.

Just think of the money we would save by simply repealing the FEDERAL drug laws, in both the Department of Justice AND the money we would save from not having to house these NON violent “criminals” for year upon year.

And one more point Mr. Bill(ms. helga),

I think the “young liberals” as you call them want us to get back to the INTENT of the Constitution.

I’m of the opinion that more people will make the best decisions for themselves instead of having the Government DICTATE behavior. I have FAITH in the majority of the people, sure there will be a FEW that make bad decisions, but you don’t have to be a druggie to do that. And the bottom line is that each individual has to be RESPONSIBLE for their decisions. NO MORE “SAFETY NETS”. They are too full now.

Isn’t there a saying that goes something like:

If you give a person a fish, they will have one meal, BUT if you teach them HOW TO fish they will have all the meals they want.

We have too many people who we are giving “fish” to and it really disgusts me.

    And if I may add,

    CW,

Don’t EVER change, we NEED you more than you know.

Thanks for giving our “family” a “home”.

YOU, sir, are the best of the best!!!

    Honor First,

Thank you for that article. I especially like the comments.

Ari doesn’t give Dr Paul proper due.

    CW,

Just to show how much we have in common,

I believe that we are the only two here that can state that they have threads about them at a “place” I won’t mention.

  20. Dana Carvey as the “church lady” would say:
    “Isn’t that special.”

  21. Pete thanks.
The 1.5 trillion that you sent was taken & spent by BO.

  22. Good Morning CW, et. al.!

  23. Good morning Zach, et al.

  24. Don’t know if this video has already been posted. Interesting…

..”This film is about one raider and his firm and how they destroyed that dream for thousands of Americans and their families – Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.”

  25. Folks,
Need some help. Does anyone know of a website that lists the many lawsuits against Obama, including the ones requesting his BC and school records?
