Bill Cellini trial, Prosecutors request block of Stuart Levine drug and party questions, Rezko not expected to testify

Bill Cellini trial, Prosecutors request block of Stuart Levine drug and party questions, Rezko not expected to testify

“Why was Tony Rezko’s sentencing delayed?”…Citizen Wells

From the Chicago SunTimes September 20, 2011.

“Cellini prosecutors: Don’t ask our star witness about drug-fueled parties, personal life”

“Federal prosecutors in Chicago are asking a federal judge to block “irrelevant” questions about the personal life of the expected star witness in the William Cellini trial: serial swindler Stuart Levine.

Prosecutors say defense lawyers for Cellini should not be allowed to delve into Levine’s lurid background, including his previous testimony that he’d engage in all-night, drug-fueled parties at the Purple Hotel in Skokie and then attend a meeting for a state board the following day.

The government is trying to avoid the same 15-day saga that played out in Tony Rezko’s 2008 corruption trial, where Levine, once a GOP supporter and the member of two influential state boards, spelled out many details of his personal life, arguably creating a distraction in the trial.

“The government anticipates that the defendant will attempt to introduce evidence or cross-examine Stuart Levine, a potential government witness, on certain matters that are irrelevant and/or unduly prejudicial, such as on matters pertaining to Levine’s drug use and personal life,” prosecutors wrote in today’s filing. “…Those topic areas are as irrelevant and/or unfairly prejudicial.”

Prosecutors are again before Judge James Zagel, who previously ruled that those issues could not come up if Levine were to testify in the Blagojevich trial.

He never did.

Cellini is a wealthy Springfield power broker accused of conspiring with others to extort a campaign contribution for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich from Capri Capital’s Tom Rosenberg, who is also a Hollywood film producer.

Levine is key to Cellini’s trial because he and Cellini are on recordings.”

“Rezko, who had been cooperating with authorities following his conviction, is not expected to testify.

Cellini is supposed to go on trial Oct. 3 though Blagojevich –once a codefendant — is scheduled to be sentenced three days later.

Scheduling could come up in a hearing set for this Friday.”

“Tonight I am going to New York to speak at the General Assembly, meet with (U.S. President Barack) Obama and with other leaders,” Netanyahu said. “I know the reception I received here is much warmer than the one I will receive at the UN, and exactly because of that I think we should go there and present our truth… of a people attacked over and over by those opposed to their very existence. That is the most basic truth.”

Perry, the Texas governor leading polls for the Republican nomination, pledged strong support for Israel and called Israel “our oldest and strongest democratic ally in the Middle East.”

He said a policy of “moral equivalency” and concessions made by Obama — such as insisting that Israel’s 1967 borders be the basis for a Palestinian state — have emboldened the Palestinians to seek U.N. recognition.

“We are indignant that certain Middle Eastern leaders have discarded the principle of direct negotiations between the sovereign nation of Israel and the Palestinian leadership,” Perry said at a news conference. “And we are equally indignant that the Obama administration’s Middle East policy of appeasement has encouraged such an ominous act of bad faith.”

Despite them growing up in the 60′s and wanting peace for everyone, Obama and Hillary have made the world a much more dangerous place to live in. Could they be sowing the seeds for WWIII? I think with their quick support for the overthrow of Mubarak and support for the Palestinians, and with Ayers and Code Pink being in the middle of it, which the MSM still hides, Hillary and Obama have encouraged the Arabs and Turks to attack Israel…
I agree but it should be noted that bo spent the 60′s living in a muslim household in Indonesia. bo has never been about peace, rather he is about domination of the World by his cult of hate. I don’t know what hillary’s problem is, but she is obviously a hateful war monger.

Let’s also remember that the FM of Egypt said outright that Obama told him he was a Muslim, the step-son of a Muslim and the son of a Muslim. In his book, OB and Ayers wrote, that he would support the Muslims if the world turned in a nasty direction. Well it’s turning, and Jewish voters should take note.
bo also told the Egyptian FM that he would show the World home to deal with Israel. I hasten to add that hillary is as Anti-Semetic as bo.

Obama, behind closed doors, has convinced the arabs to go to the UN security council instead of the general assembly so obama can be the great savior of the jews and get their vote in 2012.

Then, after he no longer needs the jews, the jews will have to run for the hills, or the desert, or Petra, or wherever they can to escape obama’s real agenda.

Can a jew really think that Obama is going to stand with them once he no longer needs their vote?

Only TurnCoat “jews” like weiner, bloomberg and chuck U schumer still support bo.

Texas Governor Rick Perry said during a New York press conference Tuesday that his Christian faith requires his strong support of Israel.

“I also as a Christian have a clear directive to support Israel, so from my perspective it’s pretty easy,” Perry said when a reporter asked if Perry’s faith was driving his views, according to the Associated Press. “Both as an American and as a Christian, I am going to stand with Israel.”

Perry, surrounded by what he called “a diverse group of Jewish leaders from here and abroad,”characterized President Obama’s approach to the Middle East as “naive and arrogant, misguided and dangerous.” Perry also outlined the policy stance he would take toward Israel as president. You can read Perry’s proposal here.

  14. 2012 Presidential Candidates – One Question Only

    by JB Williams

Will any of the candidates for President face the eligibility matter, or will they all pretend it doesn’t exist?

(Sep. 20, 2011) — As the 2012 election cycle heats up, the most pressing issue facing our nation today is the reinstatement of the U.S. Constitution as the Law of this Land, and the survival of our constitutional republic, complete with sovereign borders, the rule of law, states rights and a republican form of government guaranteed every citizen by the Constitution. There is no more pressing issue in America today…

As reinstating the U.S. Constitution is the highest priority of the 2012 election, and the fact that reinstating Article II requirements for the office of president is first and foremost in the effort to reinstate the constitution as the supreme law of this land, all presidential candidates must face the most vital question of the day.

Before being entrusted with the most powerful political office in our land and the world for that matter, I have only ONE question for every candidate seeking the office of President of the United States.

Based upon the mountain of evidence available which has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that Barack Hussein Obama II is not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States, and is therefore, ineligible for the office of President according to Article II – Section 1 – Clause V which clearly states – “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President;”- and as a candidate with legal standing to challenge the legitimacy of any fellow candidate, will you challenge Barack Hussein Obama’s right to even appear on the 2012 ballot? Another Hawaii source with inside knowledge has asserted that Obama supporters placed a forged 1961 long-form birth certificate in the vault of the Hawaii Department of Health.

Talk-radio host and former Nixon White House operative G. Gordon Liddy told WND that one of his trusted informants in Hawaii reported to him that while the document was forged recently, there may have been tampering with official Obama birth records as far back as 1978.

Liddy’s warning came in response to WND reports that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is mobilizing a law enforcement unit with the authority to investigate allegations that the Obama birth certificate released by the White House April 27 is a forgery.

I want to know what these candidates’ records are. What have they been able to show on a local and a state level that they have done to create jobs?” she said. “I don’t want to just hear rhetoric about them putting up their dukes and fighting for the right things.”

One candidate that appears to be in her good graces: Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

“Perry is right when he talked about Obama’s foreign policies as it relates to Israel,” she said. “It’s been misguided, it’s been weak.”

  24. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas continues to lead the field of announced candidates for the Republican presidential nomination, supported by 30 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents. He was followed by former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 22 percent and Rep. Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota with 12 percent.

Others trailed in single digits: Rep. Ron Paul of Texas had 7 percent; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had 6 percent; business executive Herman Cain had 5 percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania had 2 percent, and former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah had 1 percent.

“The report is further evidence that Texas remains the nation’s prime destination to live work, raise a family and start a business,” Catherine Frazier, a Perry spokeswoman, said in an emailed statement to Perry Presidential.

Forty-nine percent of business executives surveyed identified Texas as having one of the best business climates. North Carolina and South Carolina came in a distant second place and third place, with 28 percent and 14 percent, respectively.

The Daily Ticker’s Aaron Task and Henry Blodget sat down with Steve Forbes, the one time presidential candidate and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, to handicap the race. Though he has yet to officially endorse him, Forbes is betting on Perry.

“I think at the end of the day Perry will win the nomination, and I think he’ll win the election.”

Forbes thinks Perry has the right message on the economy that resonates with the electorate. “The criticism of the Federal Reserve is right on, he’s for tax simplification, certainly no blow-out in spending,” he says. “So in terms of issues that matter most to the people I think he’s going to be a winner.”

As Texas agriculture commissioner in the 1990s, Perry started the Texas-Israel Exchange. In 2009, he traveled to Israel to receive a “Defender of Jerusalem” award. That same year, he told a reporter, “I have a special affection for that country, for the nation of Israel, a remarkable people,” comparing Masada, the sight of a famed battle between the Jews and the Roman Empire, to the Alamo.

Perry’s press conference on Tuesday came as the Obama administration tries to stop a U.N. vote on Palestinian statehood this week. Obama is slated to talk to the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday.

Furthemore, Obama’s support with Jewish voters is dropping, some say illustrated by an unlikely win last week in the heavily Democratic and Jewish New York 9th district special election contest to replace Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.). During Perry’s appearance in New York on Tuesday, newly-minted Empire State GOP Rep. Bob Turner was by his side.

While polling finds that the economy is the main reason for Obama’s drop in Jewish support, many Republicans have seized on the results of last week’s special election as a sign that Israel could become a wedge issue with Jews in swing states in 2012.

Answering questions after his remarks Tuesday, Perry framed his Israel advocacy as part of his religion. “As a Christian, I have a clear directive to support Israel,” he said. “As an American and a Christian I will stand with Israel.”

The gossipy bits of the book – including claims Palin had a fling with a 204cm black basketball star she was covering as a sports journalist, had an affair with her husband’s business partner and experimented with cocaine and cannabis – will lead the news stories. But the heart of the story is more revealing. Palin seems consumed with ambition, but strangely uninterested in the business of government or, indeed, any deep knowledge of any difficult subject. She never drops a grudge. She sees no distinction between public office and private gain. She has lived a lonely life as an adult teenager, coming straight from work to skulk in her room, taking trips to department stores rather than going to meetings, her children left to fend for themselves.

And, yes, the story of her last pregnancy is so bizarre it deserves a full chapter. She declared it at seven months, to universal disbelief from everyone, including her own staff. It is rare that a governor’s pregnancy is immediately dismissed as impossible on the record in the local paper by her political colleagues. Photos of her in this period are rare (a handful exist and in some she barely looks three months pregnant).

At eight months, she agreed to fly to Texas for a speech. At 4am in a Texas hotel her waters broke, she says. Nonetheless, she gave the speech at noon, full of jokes, writing in her book the unforgettable words: “Big laughs. More contractions.”

She refused to go to the nearby children’s hospital to deliver a child who was already diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, but travelled all the way back to Alaska to her local hospital, on two long-distance flights. The crew are on record as having no idea she was close to giving birth. Two days later she was back at work. Months later she was holding up “this precious child”, Trig, at the Republican convention like a scene from The Lion King.

Republicans sense an opening in the difficult relationship between Mr Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu, and have publicly taken the Israeli Prime Minister’s side in his disputes with the administration.

In his first foray into foreign policy, Rick Perry, the Texas governor, the leading Republican contender for the 2012 nomination, said that the Palestinians are exploiting “errors” by Mr Obama and a perceived weakening in ties between the US and Israel.

Republicans were buoyed by their victory in last week’s special election in a New York congressional district held by Democrats for nearly a century, in the heavily Jewish district covering parts of Queens and Brooklyn.

The Jewish voters in Ohio and Florida in many respects mirror the electorate in New York which swung to the Republicans, with large concentrations of orthodox and conservative Jews loyal to Israel.

“In light of the New York election and Obama’s unpopularity, there is a real possibility of some shift in voting patterns, in particular, in Ohio and Florida, where the Jewish vote tends to be more important,” said Mr Lefkowitz.

  33. This wall street protest over the weekend and a post about it i read somewhere else led me to discover something.

The other side sees the “gap between the haves and the have nots” as the biggest problem America faces. They think nothing of the laws of the land being shredded to install a criminal, fraudulent president, but they will go to any means to make sure that someone doesn’t have more money than they do.

What enrages them? Well, it’s not complete lawlessness, it’s the fact that someone has more money. That drives them insane.

    How sickeningly pathetic.

What does the court denial to the petitioner tell you? It tells me that even the STATE courts are aligned with the Federal Courts. In reality there ARE NO COURTS AVAILABLE except for the purpose of promoting the LIBERAL DEMOCRAT AGENDA.

  35. It has been rumored that the men Stuart Levin partied with were “barely” men…he likes them young…It is sad that Judge Zagel has already chosen sides…

  36. I don’t know if any of you remember or followed the trial of Tony Rezko but I remember clearly that Stuart Levine perjured himself on the stand to no consequences by the U.S.Attorney’s office…Stuart Levine testified that he had “quit” his drug use after his arrest BUT when cross examined by Rezko’s defense attorney Patrick Duffy, he admitted that was NOT true that he continued using drugs on several occasions…The U.S. Attorney’s don’t want his admitted drug use questioned WILL the judge allow in that he has previously lied under oath in previous federal trails???????

  37. Patrick Fitzgerald: Intrepid Crime Fighter? Or, Politically-Driven Leaker? The Untouchable Myth Is Born (Part 2)

  38. WhistleBlower; great article…they must read CDO…Why wasn’t Patrick Fitzgerald should have been more concerned when one of his “covert informants” was being outed by the Chicago Tribune??? This could have been a very dangerous situation for an undercover operative to be outed this way…That is IF John Wyma didn’t know about it ahead of time??? and WHY didn’t Blagojevich’s defense ask John Wyma in cross examination IF it was him who tipped John Chase???
As to the Judge Zagel allowing Stuart Levines drug use in….IF he doesn’t the defense should get a new Judge…It has been proven by medical experts every where that snorting meth, crack, cocaine for over 30 years spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on drug use will cause memory problems, such as alzheimers and parkinsons not to mention tooth decay.

December 9: Blago arrested; Obama team learns of it from public reports

December 11: Obama team begins to conduct inquiry into contacts with Blago; Obama states,

I have never spoken to the governor on this subject. I am confident that no representatives of mine would have any part of any deals related to this seat. I think the materials released by the US Attorney reflect that fact. I’ve asked my team to gather the facts of any contacts with the governor’s office about this vacancy so that we can share them with you over the next few days.

But what I’m absolutely certain about is that our office had no involvement in any deal making around my senate seat. That, I’m absolutely certain of.

December 15: Greg Craig completes the internal review, offers it to Fitz; Fitz asks for them to hold on it, until after December 22 (note, Obama’s team just gave the report to Fitz)

December 19: Fitz interviews Valerie Jarrett

    December 20: Fitz interviews Rahm

December 23: Obama team releases its report on contacts

  40. NOTICE; above date of December 15th…WHY did Fitz ask Craig to hold on to it until after December 22??? He gave it to him anyway…Does anyone think that Fitzgerald didn’t know to ask Obama about Balanoff? IT is perfectly clear that Obama perjured himself in that interview with Fitzgerald and he’s been protecting him ever since…THIS is why Judge Zagel would never turn over the 302’s to that meeting…
