Vrdolyak prison sentence, Fast Eddie sentenced to 10 months

“Former Chicago Ald. Ed Vrdolyak was long known as “Fast Eddie” for his ability to work the angles in city politics and remain clear of criminal probes. He burnished that image last year when a judge spurned prosecution calls for prison and sentenced him instead to probation for a fraud conviction.
But his day of reckoning finally came Friday when Vrdolyak, forced by an appeals court to be sentenced again, was given 10 months in prison — followed by 5 months in a work-release center and an additional 5 months in home confinement. He was also fined $250,000.”
“The legendary dealmaker had thought he had escaped prison time after U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur sentenced him to five years of probation for setting up a $1.5 million kickback on a Gold Coast real estate deal.
But prosecutors objected, and the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ordered that a different judge resentence Vrdolyak, calling Shadur’s punishment a “slap on the wrist” that ignored Vrdolyak’s status as one of Chicago’s most influential insiders and gave too much weight to dozens of letters attesting to his acts of generosity.
On Friday prosecutors again sought about 31/2 years for Vrdolyak. Federal sentencing guidelines called for a minimum sentence of 21/2 years in prison. But U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly said the guidelines were too stiff a punishment for Vrdolyak and imposed the 10-month prison term as well as the additional work release and home confinement.
Monico said Vrdolyak will not appeal the sentence. He was ordered to report to prison Jan. 19.
Vrdolyak had pleaded guilty to steering the sale of a building owned by Rosalind Franklin University to a developer that agreed to secretly pay him a $1.5 million “finders fee.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Niewoehner said prosecutors were pleased Vrdolyak will serve some time in prison.
“The rich and powerful in this city deserve to be treated the same as anyone else,” Niewoehner had told the judge. “And if somebody else was involved in a fraud for $1.5 million … they would be looking at a long time in prison.””

ms. helga – I recently read an article about Condoleessa Rice and the new book she has written. In the interview she said that she “loves” Obama. Her foreign policy views and his are worlds apart. I always thought she was certainly more conservative than he and more sensible. Why in the world would she express such affection for him? I hate to use the R word, but I think she and Colin Powell both have the same “affliction”. This is further evidence that blacks are overwhelmingly in support of him. There are exceptions of course, like Col. West and others, thankfully.

I had always the highest respect for them. They have both conducted themselves with profound dignity. That is why it shocked me when Colin Powel chose to endorse Obama. I wonder if Ms. Rice truly loves Obama or is still being the wonderful diplomat she was?
I can only admire black loyalty to their race. Caucasians need to develop some of that loyalty, too. However, black loyalty has reached a state beyond reason and is slowly becoming sinister and threatening. In part it plays upon white guilt for the practice of slavery over two hundred years ago. This animosity over this issue is held with out knowledge of the true facts about slavery and who the slavers were. (Muslims, among other Africans were active slave traders then and are now.)
Another non reasonable belief I have discovered among many American blacks is that suffering, struggle and hardship belonged only to black people because of their skin color. They imagine the history of caucasians was a series of Southern gentlemen and ladies dressed in ball gowns. They fail to see that suffering of all people regardless of race existed then and now.
What is most pathetic of all is that the victim mentality of American black people has been perpetrated upon them by their own black leaders for their own personal gain at the ultimate harm of the people who believed in them.
Let me name some; The Black Panthers, NAACP President, Acorn, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Revered Wright, Charlie Rangel, Maxine Waters, and many sitting in Congress.
From my days as a little girl in Detroit in the ’50’s to today, I was proud to see how far and how well black people have come forward. Thanks to the ruthlessness of Barry and his power stealing group, they set race relations back 25 years. They have deliberately tried to create bigotry and prejudice where bigotry never existed. By pitting black against white, they divided and conquered. Barry is also attempting to do the same with the Hispanics. That is why he has wrongfully sued Arizona and put Sonia Sotomayer into the Supreme Court. Turning citizen against citizen weakens the unity of the nation and forces the control in the government hands.
In today’s so called “politically correct” atmosphere intelligent and reasonable people are afraid to speak the truth out of fear of the name calling attacks from any one who has no logic to counter the truth. The Muslim practice of forbidding free speech and death threats against any one who dares criticize Islam strangely looks very much like the practice in the White House to attack and denigrate any one who disagrees with any of their very destroy-our-freedom-and-America-policies.
The very sad truth is that the loyal black followers fail to recognize that they are being used in a similar way as the Muslim suicide bombers. Supporting and helping to keep these thugs in positions is enabling them to destroy America. If America is lost, so are the black people along with the whites whose babies should be “killed” according the president of the Black Panthers.
Our greatest weapons in this invisible war of ideology are truth and facts. Most Americans are rightfully fearful to use our greatest weapons because of this retaliatory regime and mind set. Just as Geert Wilders stayed the course and won, so must we shout fearlessly against the lies, convolution of truth, snake oil sophistry, and the rest of the taquiya practices being perpetrated upon us in these historical times. Hi, Michelle – Yes, I was aware that Chile is predominately Catholic. What I think is so fantastic is the open display of the miners’ faith in God. Do we have that courage here in America? I just read on Atlas shrugs where a “non-commissioned” officer at Fort Hood ORDERED a Pfc to destroy film footage showing the ISLAMIC TERRORIST shooting all those soldiers at Ft. Hood…let’s chat about that a while.
First, a noncommissioned officer is not an officer, he is only a sergeant. He receives his orders from a much higher power. I do not for one minute think for one moment that a Sgt. gave such an order of his own free will.
As a retired officer in the Army with over 27 years of service, I think I pretty well know how the system works. Here’s my take on what happened at Ft. Hood.
The Pvt told his Sgt that he had the shooting on his cell phone camera. The Sgt then goes to his Platoon Leader ( a Lt.) who goes to his Company Commander (a Cpt.) who talks to his Battalion Commander ( a Ltc.) who discusses it with his Brigade Commander ( a full Col. ) who informs the Division/ or Post Commander ( usually a two or three star General) who calls the Pentagon ( normally four star generals/or Robert Gates) asking, “what shall we do about this situation?”.
The Generals at the Pentagon then gives the order to pass down the line…”tell the Sgt, to order the Pvt to destroy that film”. That was most likely what happened. This is know as “micro-managing”. Believe me, it happened in Vietnam all the time. It continues to happen in the military even more so today with a full blown MUSLIM sitting in the WH.
There is no circumstances can I think of where a Sgt would give such an order on his own. He had lots of help on this on.
This should be be investigated to the highest levels and someone/ or lots of someone’s need to be going to Ft. Leavenworth Military Prison, and stay there a long time, for destruction of evidence against this radical known ISLAMIC TERRORIST who killed 13 brave American soldiers and wounded 33. He should get his wished and died for Allah…by hanging. He had been know to be a person to be watched after his lecture to troops (which had the blessing of his higher up officers) only a year before.
GOD what is happening to our military… I’m so ashamed of our current officer corps of Colonel and above…..of which I once was so proud to have been a part of….I hope there is some un-bias media somewhere that will jump on this exposure with both feet !!!
I still say “God Bless the Common Soldier” who has to endure a totally corrupt general officer corp and a very embolden enemy out too kill Americans wherever they find them.

Somehow, I turned the topic from the Madigan Family Maneuverings to Christine O’Donnell’s Senate race in Delaware because the guy I was talking to did a lot of fundraising in New England during the 2008 campaign and I know he “gets” states up there better than I do, having never lived there.
He told me that Christine O’Donnell is going to get VERY, VERY CLOSE to winning in Delaware but he does not think she will win. But, he emphasized, “It’s going to be scary close for Coons”.
I then asked him if he thought Scott Brown would win in Massachusetts, and he said, “No, I was surprised. I thought Coakley would win but it would be close”.
So, I’m thinking Democrats are really very scared of O’Donnell.

Oh, this is SO true! In the article I read the other day (interview re. her book) she says she is not in the political field anymore and doesn’t want to be. Then, why not just “zip it” and keep her personal feelings to herself?

This has probably been already posted here, but I have just read this article and it is another finger in the eye of good, honest Americans who know that Obama’s eligibility is doubtful indeed. Here we have a team of U.S. attorneys who have argued to the 9th Circuit that “there essentially is nothing the American public can do to determine if Barack Obama is qualified under the U.S. Constitution…..”
This is, in effect, a rebuttal of the numerous attempts by plaintiffs like Alan Keyes, Drake, Robinson, cases heard by Judge David Carter, who although a former Marine, succumbed to pressure and ruled that the plaintiffs suffered no injury – did not have standing. Ughh…….
Now we have this group of U.S. attorneys arguing that a possible violation of the Constitution is a POLITICAL ISSUE, not judicial. Then on the other hand, how many times have we heard congressmen pass the buck by saying it is a matter for the courts to decide? Isn’t this maddening?
