Gulf Oil Crisis Part 2, Minerals Management Service, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Warnings ignored

The Washington Post has presented a scathing article of what went wrong at Minerals Management Service.
“U.S. oil drilling regulator ignored experts’ red flags on environmental risks”
“The federal agency responsible for regulating U.S. offshore oil drilling repeatedly ignored warnings from government scientists about environmental risks in its push to approve energy exploration activities quickly, according to numerous documents and interviews.
Minerals Management Service officials, who can receive cash bonuses in the thousands of dollars based in large part on meeting federal deadlines for leasing offshore oil and gas exploration, frequently changed documents and bypassed legal requirements aimed at protecting the marine environment, the documents show.
This has dramatically weakened the scientific checks on offshore drilling that were established under landmark laws such as the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, say those who have worked with the MMS, which is part of the Interior Department.”
“MMS said in a May 2000 draft environmental analysis of deep-water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico that “the oil industry’s experience base in deep-water well
control is limited” and that a massive spill “could easily turn out to be a potential showstopper for the [Outer Continental Shelf] program if the industry
and MMS do not come together as a whole to prevent such an incident.”
But when the MMS finalized the document that month, it jettisoned those two statements and concluded that there was no need to prepare an environmental
impact analysis for deep-water drilling: “Most deep-water operations and activities are substantially the same as those associated with conventional
operations and activities on the continental shelf.””
On April 1, 2010 we learned the following from Ken Salazar and the US Interior Department.
“NEW ORLEANS, LA – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced that the next federal oil and gas lease sale in the Gulf of Mexico will occur in New Orleans on August 18, 2010. The Secretary made the Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 215 announcement during a tour of Superior Energy Services.”
“The available blocks in Sale 215 are located from 9 to about 250 miles offshore in water depths of 16 to more than 10,975 feet (5 to 3,346 meters). The Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) estimates the proposed lease sale could result in the production of 242 to 423 million barrels of oil and 1.64 to 2.64 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.”

10, 975 feet is twice the depth of the current drilling disaster.

If saving the Gulf were in o.’s best interests (according to his agenda), he would have acted within the first 24 hours.
He’s inaction from hour-one until today speaks the truth about his intentions.
Now is the time for all rescue efforts to proceed according to common sense, without o.’s involvement.
If all the rescuers ignore o. and his administration, and clean up the spill, everyone will be grateful to the rescuers. O. and his minions will lose big time, and no one will take them seriously any more.

Nice try Rahm, for almost two months Americans have been treated to Obama and the admin partying almost the entire time of the oil spill-it was only due to public outrage, polls falling that Obama deigned to go at all and what about 13 approx. countries that offered to send help immediately but the WON rejected their offers, besides you idiot politicians, etc. this is about a region of the United States of America, with loyal taxpaying Americans trying to do their best in spite of you. Quite a commentary on 2 Chronicles 7:14. The ones who humble themselves receive God’s blessings.
What America is facing right now, likewise, reminds me of the lists of blessings and curses in Deuteronomy 28.
God’s people prosper when their lives are based on His ways and His Word. In choosing life, they reap blessing upon blessing.
When God’s people base their lives on their own self-centeredness and willfulness, making up their own rules as they go along . . . . eh, not so good. For one thing, their enemies gain power over them and defeat them.
Chapter 28 helps me make sense out of the way America is being overcome by inane absurdities. Our national strength resides in adherence to our godly foundations. Without the pillars of God’s absolutes, we’re putty in the hands of our domestic enemies.
All the 2 Chronicles 7:14 prayer seems to be having a good effect, though. Seeing a grand national repentance would be awesome.

7:1-22 God’s answer to Solomon’s prayer. –
God gave a gracious answer to Solomon’s prayer. The mercies of God to sinners are made known in a manner well suited to impress all who receive them, with his majesty and holiness.
The people worshipped and praised God. When he manifests himself as a consuming Fire to sinners, his people can rejoice in him as their Light.

After witnessing the Gulf Oil Disaster, I am reminded of Jim Boren who started a satirical association in Washington, D.C. in the 70’s called The National Association Of Professional Bureaucrats. It’s motto was very direct and to the point –

It would take a blind person not to see that this is the way this administration works ILLEGALLY.
First there was a baby born of unknown origin and birth shrouded in mystery. Then reared by the wise men from various contentients on the study of socialism and communism. One day to become king of all kings.
This story sounds familar to me, I just can’t quite place my finger on it…
Next, there was a wise man whom promised to deliver his people from the bondage of capitalism. I am familar with the passages, I was merely poking fun at the liberal socialist that whorship him.
My grandfather on my fathers side was a Methodist minister and ever since I can remeber, old enough to walk, church, bible lessons, attendence, meetings, ect was a way of life until I reached 17.
I made my own choices after that age. Am I active in the church as I once was in my youth and family today? No, I am not. Maybe one day again. And no, that does not require lectures from the outside. Questions are welcomed, but not brow beating lectures. Not that you would do that.

Thanks for the video of fire at Flagstaff. That is getting pretty close to home (sometimes eat out up there). Brush and forest fires are a way of life here and they are often man-caused. I couldn’t find any info as to whether the man being questioned is an obot terrorist. Some of the kooks that purposely set these fires are mentally deranged, etc., and not necessarily terrorists in the true sense of the word. Not that it couldn’t happen. What if a number of subversives decided to go on a rampage by setting fires? There wouldn’t be enough firefighters in the country to stop them.

I couldn’t help it, it made me so darn mad, they have the nerve to critize Tony Hayward for one day (not that he is blameless), but look at what this admin has been guilty of. Partied the entire time, if someone added up all the time Obama spent in photo-op Gulf region would time on the ground equal two hours TOTAL? This government has been more in the way of clean-up efforts, they are beyond incompetent and to turn away help immediately after the explosion, that borders on criminal (stupidity). There is a law that covers that but it escapes me at the moment (criminal neglect?).
I don’t care if the folks in the Gulf are Republican, Democrats, Independents, they are my/our fellow Americans. I stand with them.
