The insurance industry incited an immediate and passionate backlash after saying the Senate bill would cause insurance premiums to increase.

I was puzzled at first by this part of the legislation — a $750 fine is only a small percentage of what insurance would cost, then if you get sick the insurance company can’t refuse you coverage — it seemed like this was an open and very obvious invitation to game the system. Then it occurred to me that if you choose to pay the fine the government gets the money, while when you get sick the insurance company is stuck with the expenses. From congress’ point of view that’s a win-win.
The Colorado insurers are right, no one in their right mind would buy insurance until they were sick under this plan. Either they’d be forced to charge premiums equal to the cost of treatment you received — defeating the whole point of having insurance — or they would go broke. Of course, when all of the insurance companies have been driven out of business we’ll wind up with “single payer” by default, and you will have no choice but to accept whatever standard of care the government deems you worthy of.
So there is a method to congress’ madness. Many of them have been pushing for “single payer” for years and now they think they’ve found a way to slip it in the back door.

Kim, the whole goal, IMO, is to make private health insurance so expensive through various means (high taxes on many insurance policies that will have to be passed on to the consumer, mandates that insurance companies must cover every single little thing whether the consumer wants it or not, etc.) that eventually people will “choose” the government “option”. It won’t really be an option – it will be a choice made out of necessity, because insurance will be made too expensive, all as a result of the so-called “reform” by the federal government.

I just watched a news segment pertaining to a meeting about health care which took place last week behind closed doors. Harry Reid, Chris Dodd and other Senators attended and get this, RAHM EMMANUEL, Obama’s chief of staff! Our Constitution requires a separation of powers, hence the three distinct branches of power. Why is an official from the Executive Branch sitting in on a closed door meeting with U. S. Senators discussing future legislation? Uh, isn’t this a violation of the Constitution?

But revamping the health care system to accommodate 17% of the population is like taking your car to the mechanic to overhaul the engine when it only needs a tune-up and an oil change.

Hi LM, it’s because they’re trying to use the Alinsky method against Fox News. Is it working? I don’t think so. So far, all it’s done is drive up Fox News’ ratings.
However, I am expecting to see something very soon to happen against Glenn Beck like what happened to Rush Limbaugh. Like Rush or not, they used lies to derail his attempt to become a part-owner of an NFL football team. They made up words that Rush never said and used those lies to smear him until he was forced out of the group making the bid.

Georgetown, you are incorrect. While it matters not if Hawaii was a state or just a territory – prior to being admitted to the union, Hawaii was under the control of the US and that would make him a NBC, just as it made Goldwater a NBC when he was born in the territory of, I think it was Kansas.
Nevertheless, Obama was governed by British law at birth and THAT fact and THAT fact alone, makes him ineligible to be POTUS, there is no way he is a NBC .

My question about global warming is this: if our planet is in such dire straits due to human activity, then why are we saying it’s OK for third-world countries (including China and India: populations totalling about 2.4 billion people)? If things are that bad, then no country should be doing it, IMO.

My hunch is that these two country’s said phooie to this silliness b/c our peoples economic health isn’t as vibrant as other nations, therefore, we won’t re distribute their wealth to outsiders. We want their wealth to be re distributed within our own country’s boundaries.
I’ve always sat on the fence when it came to global warming now climate change policy. The science on neither side persuaded me however, when money and politics are introduced then I pay attention.
Right now, from what I can gather it’s all an orchestrated farce and a means to enrich the uber wealthy. The only way these charlatans can rule the world with their one world government vision is to have vehicles in place to take our money.
Obviously China and India are saying no dice to this one world government vision. At least for now they are.

One odd thing I saw in the affidavit of Ms. Daniels is that whereas she states that BHO only used 1 (one) SSN
(which appears to be the
042-68-4425, issued 8/04/1961 and 4/08/1961 in the state of Connecticut 1977-79, under the names Obama, Barack & Obama, B. Hussein. This SSN is not found in the SS Death Index).
However, in 1975-76 in IL for Obama, Barack H.
a SSN was issued with issuant residing at 5450 S. East View Park 1, Chicago. On the affidavit
the entire SSN is blacked out.
Ques: Why is Ms. Daniels of the opinion that
Barack Obama/Barack H. Obama/Barack Hussein Obama only used 1 (one) SSN?

In rereading Susan Daniels affidavit I realize that the Thomas Wood SS number(042-68-4424) is the number previous to the one Obama is using (042-68-4425). Thanks for catching my mistake.
