“Broader Indictment in $1.25 Million Pat Quinn Era State Grant for “We are Our Brother’s Keeper” Adds the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Daughter”
“SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Three indictments returned today by the grand jury in Springfield, Ill., collectively broaden allegations of fraud related to a $1.25 million state grant awarded in 2009 to We Are Our Brother’s Keeper, a not-for-profit program owned by Regina R. Evans, former police chief for Country Club Hills, Ill., and her husband, Ronald W. Evans, Jr., also
formerly employed with the Country Club Hills Police Department.
The grant agreement provided for an estimated 40 participants to receive bricklaying and electrical pre-apprenticeship training and GED preparation, at the Regal Theater, another entity owned by the Evanses.
Regina, 50, and her husband, Ronald Evans, 45, are charged in a third superseding indictment with fraudulent use of grant funds, specifically
- wire fraud (three counts)
- money laundering (seven counts each)
- conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering (one count)
According to the indictment, at the time of the alleged fraud, from February 2009 to June 2010, Regina and Ronald Evans owned various for-profit and not-for-profit entities, including the
- Prime Time Group, Inc.,
- the Regal Theater, LLC., and
- We Are Our Brother’s Keeper (WAOBK.)
In February 2009, on behalf of WAOBK, Evans and her husband applied for grant funding offered under the Employment Opportunities Grant Program and administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO.) In September 2009,
DCEO disbursed the $1,250,000 award for the two-year period, beginning on June 1, 2009, and ending on May 31, 2011. In fact, the indictment alleges that little, if any, of the training provided in the grant agreement, was ever completed.
Following the return of a prior superseding indictment against the Evanses, in June 2012, the grand jury investigation continued relating to unindicted offenses and persons, including potential money laundering offenses.
The investigation included a review of more than $100,000 in checks issued by the Evanses and Ricky McCoy, Regina Evans’ brother, involving grant funds and made payable to various associates of the Evanses, including McCoy and Jeri L. Wright, purportedly for work done by associates under the grant program.

The indictment alleges that more than $60,000 from the proceeds of the checks was deposited back into accounts which the Evanses controlled.
Another indictment returned today charges Jeri L. Wright, 47, of Hazel Crest, Ill., with money laundering (two counts), making false statements to federal law enforcement officers (two counts), and giving false testimony before a grand jury (seven counts), related to the investigation of the alleged fraudulent use of grant funds.
According to the indictment, Wright, a close friend and associate of the Evanses, allegedly received three checks in November 2009, totaling approximately $28,000, purporting to be for work related to the grant, and approximately $20,000 of the proceeds of the checks was allegedly deposited back into accounts controlled by the Evanses.
The indictment further alleges that Wright made false statements to federal law enforcement officers when she was interviewed on various occasions in 2012, and that on Nov. 7, 2012, Wright made materially false statements to the grand jury.”

The third case is that of Democratic operative Kam Kuwata, who died suddenly in April 2011 in his condominium in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles, after disclosing to a number of associates damaging information about Obama, which he witnessed at the 2008 Democratic nominating convention.
The fourth case is that of Andrew Breitbart, who died on March 3, 2012 while walking near his home in Brentwood, California, after having announced that he had videos that could politically damage President Obama.”

On April 12, 1862, the Great Locomotive Chase took place.
America’s most famous locomotive “The General” is now home at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History that is just 45 miles from Atlanta. Located across the railroad tracks from Kennesaw’s main street of business that is Old Highway 41 is the museum. There is a train story here if you have the time to listen.
Jefferson Cain, an employee of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, was Engineer of the General. At 4:15 a.m. on April 12, 1862, Cain pushed the throttle forward and drove the train out of Atlanta, Georgia for Chattanooga as a cool spring rain fell on the city.
In the spring of 1862, the peaceful town of Big Shanty (now Kennesaw) Georgia was paid a not-so-peaceful visit by Union spies that were led by James Andrews, who brought with him plans to disrupt Confederate supply lines. Andrews and his men boarded the train in Marietta, Georgia. They had spent the night before at the Fletcher House (now the Kennesaw House.) Twenty boarded the train and two were left behind.
The next stop was the Lacy Hotel in Big Shanty (now Kennesaw) for a 20-minute breakfast break where the General was stolen in view of Camp McDonald that was home to many enlisted men and officers. There was no telegraph there which was one reason Andrews chose this site.
James Andrews, a Kentuckian, had made a name for himself by smuggling the much needed quinine through Union lines for Confederate soldiers and Southern civilians. There were with him three experienced engineers, William Knight, Wilson Brown and John Wilson. When asked where they were from their reply was, “I am from Fleming County, Kentucky.” They also said they were going to join the Confederate army.
The official plan to steal the General was approved by Union General Ormsby Michael. The plan was to take the locomotive north on the Western and Atlantic Railroad and destroy tracks, bridges and tunnels along the way. General Michael agreed that he would take Huntsville on April 11, 1862, and then would wait for Andrews before moving into Chattanooga, Tennessee.
“Someone…has stolen our train,” William Fuller, Conductor of the General said in amazement as the train was stolen and was pulling away from the train depot. Men of the Atlantic and Western Railroad immediately began the chase with Engineer Jefferson Cain, William Fuller and machine foreman Anthony Murphy close behind.
With no telegraph at Big Shanty, the men ran north for two miles to Moon Station and procured a platform handcar, then went on until they found the locomotive “Yonah.” The second train used was “the William R. Smith.” The last locomotive Fuller used was the famous “Texas” that was heading south. The Texas is now housed at the Cyclorama at Grant Park in Atlanta, Georgia. With no time to spare, the Texas was run in reverse through the entire chase.
James Andrews and his Raiders were slowed down by South Bound trains that had to pass before they could continue. With the telegraph out of service, Fuller was fortunate to catch telegraph operator Edward Henderson. Fuller gave the young Henderson a hand up on the train, still in motion, to take a message that he would send to General Ledbetter from Dalton, Georgia.
Andrews and his raiders failed to destroy the bridges over Georgia’s Chickamauga Creek, Etowah River at Tunnel Hill. They also failed to slow down their pursuers by setting the cars of the General on fire and sending them back down the railroad tracks. The end came when they ran out of wood and lost power about 18 miles south of Chattanooga.
It took about two weeks for the Confederates to capture the Union spies. Some of them made it as far as Bridgeport, Alabama. All 20 of Andrews Raiders were captured. James Andrews and six of his men were hung in Atlanta, eight escaped and others were paroled.
The United States Congress created the Medal of Honor in 1862 and it was awarded to some of the raiders. James Andrews was not eligible because he was not a part of the military service.
The South’s William Fuller, who is buried in Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery, was recognized by the Confederate government, Georgia’s Governor Joseph Brown and Georgia State Legislature for his act of heroism.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Keep your Confederate money boys…..the South will rise again !!!

Iran is not proved to have a nuclear weapons aspiration or program. It has almost nothing to do with North Korea. Only in the fevered imagination of Washington and New York media conglomerates and policy-making think tanks is there a connection.
I was listening to The Savage Nation last night. Savage brought up a very disturbing case of Amish people being given horrendous sentances for “hate crimes” involving a religious dispute within their own community. Apparently the leader of one sect ordered a beard and hair cutting of members who were in some kind of violation of his leadership or authority. The Feds decided to make an example of them in some manner, prosecuting the beard cutters and their leader for “hate crimes.” They asked for life sentences, which were reduced to 15 years for the 66 year old leader.
According to the FBI report I just read online, the so-called “victims” of the beard cutting did not want to press charges. Somehow the government was able to get them to testify against their fellow Amish who cut their beards. (The cutting of a beard is considered a disgrace in their community.) What kind of pressure did the Feds put on them?
15 years in prison for hate crimes? 15 other people got lesser sentances, but still very steep. Also, they are also being sent to prisons out of state, long distances away so that family, restricted by their primitive travel modes, cannot visit.
Understandably Michael Savage was very, very upset in his presentation of this case with its outlandish sentance for a problem to be solved within the Amish community itself. No outrage from the mainstream media nor from anyone else. This seems really wrong to me. What are the Feds up to in persecuting this sect? Is it a trial case to see how far they can go in taking down a primitive Christian sect? Then they can go after others?

Border Patrol and Customs agents face up to 20+ days of lost pay due to forced furloughs, further weakening our national security. In another move to purposely use sequester to weaken our national security; the Air Force has announced that they are grounding some of the combat air squadrons. Their budget was cut by $591 million through the rest of the fiscal year forcing them to slash about 44,000 flying hours, which is just what North Korea wants to hear.

The Illinois Republican said to reporters that visits to the Black Tie, a yacht owned by Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, played a large role in the Democratic-Republican come-together over background checks and other legislation related to gun control, Roll Call reported.
“You guys really ought to go out to National Harbor and see the Black Tie, which has been much of the reason for much of the bipartisan cooperation around here,” he said, as quoted in Roll Call.

I had heard of this case, but I wasn’t aware that the victims were unwilling to press charges. That is why I was originally surprised, because the Amish were praised some years back for their public forgiveness of the perpetrator of that horrific crime by the man that murdered the children in the Amish school. I thought….. my goodness…..you can forgive the murderer of children, but you can’t forgive someone who lops off your beard?
Certainly the punishment does not fit the crime! It is disturbing to say the least. Something tells me that we don’t know the entire story.
I think both the right and the left are exploiting this situation, and it is grievous that there is not an honest judge left in our entire country….save a very few.

“A suspicious package found to contain explosive material and addressed to Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio was intercepted by authorities in Flagstaff Thursday.
The box was addressed to Arpaio at his Phoenix headquarters, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office officials said in a statement obtained by Fox News.
Authorities in Flagstaff, a city in Northern Arizona, x-rayed the box and determined it contained an explosive device. A bomb squad was deployed and neutralized it.
Either the cartels or someone didn’t like what Sheriff Arpaio’s lead Obama investigator had to say the other day.

President Obama’s proposed 2014 budget for the Department of Justice will spend $4.1 billion more on prisons than on “national security,” the Justice Department revealed Wednesday.
Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday released the proposed 2014 budget for the Department of Justice: $27.6 billion – $1.6 billion less than the FY 2013 Justice budget, due to sequestration.
President Obama’s proposal for the Justice Department is up 3 percent from the FY 2012 proposal, but less than this year’s budget, the Department of Justice said in a statement.
According to the Justice Department statement, the proposal includes:
$8.5 billion for federal prisons and detention;
$4.4 billion for national security;
$395.1 million for (undefined) protection from gun violence;
$92.6 million enhancement for cyber security;
$55 million increase for investigating and prosecuting financial and mortgage fraud;
$25 million increase for immigration enforcement;
$258.6 million for civil rights;
$2.3 billion in assistance to state, local and tribal law enforcement;
$561.4 million in federal program offsets and rescissions.
Holder called the last item “efficiencies,” required by the budget sequestration.

Durbin, Obama linked to defunct Chicago nonprofit under investigation
Democratic Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin urged a Senate subcommittee chairman to appropriate $1 million in federal funds for a Chicago nonprofit that is now under investigation for potential fraud, according to documents obtained by The Daily Caller.
Durbin’s relationship with Chicago’s embattled Save-A-Life Foundation began in the mid-1990s and continued for at least several years, with Durbin even being listed as a member of the foundation’s “Advisory Council,” according to documents obtained by TheDC.
President Barack Obama also had a relationship with Save-A-Life during his tenure as an Illinois state senator and U.S. senator, meeting with the organization’s founder and earning praise from the Foundation as a legislator who was “always supportive” of its publicly-funded efforts.
The controversial non-profit is reportedly under investigation for misappropriating potential millions of dollars in taxpayer money by the Illinois Attorney General’s Charitable Trusts Bureau. A Bureau representative declined to comment to The Daily Caller, citing a policy of not commenting on ongoing investigations.
The Save-A-Life Foundation, which received nearly $9 million in federal and Illinois state funding to teach schoolchildren CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, dissolved in 2009 but is still under investigation amid claims that it misrepresented the number of children it provided services to and of “money unaccounted for.”
“We can’t really find anywhere that there were a lot of kids that were trained. There may have been some kids, but not the claims that were made in the thousands or tens of thousands. It doesn’t seem to exist,” Illinois state senator Tim Bivins said last month,
Former Chicago schools CEO and current Obama administration Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in 2006 that it seemed unlikely that the Foundation could have trained as many children as it claimed. The Foundation previously claimed that it trained more than 1 million schoolchildren, which would have conceivably brought thousands of EMT’s and other outside employees into classrooms.
“There’s money unaccounted for through Save-A-Life,” Bivins added.
Save-A-Life also purchased a building in Springfield, Illinois with $200,000 in state grants in 2003, only to sell that building to a private owner upon its dissolution in 2009 without reporting the location of the sale money to the Illinois Attorney General.
Illinois resident Carol Spizzirri founded the Save-A-Life Foundation in 1993 to teach emergency life-saving procedures to students after her own daughter Christina died in what Spizzirri she claimed was a hit-and-run car crash, reportedly due to the first responders’ inability to provide first aid.
It was later reported, however, that Spizzirri’s daughter died at a hospital, rather than at the scene of the crash, as Spizzirri claimed, and that she did not die in a hit-and-run but rather in a single-car crash that resulted after she drove with an illegal blood alcohol level. Spizzirri’s claim to be a registered nurse was also disputed, as no records exist to support her claim. Spizzirri now lives in southern California.

Where Did the Save-A-Life Money Go?

The Chicago Tribune of January 16, 1995, ran a story of a mother, Carol Spizzirri, lamenting the death in an auto accident of her 18-year-old daughter, Christina, in 1992. “This is my girl,” whispered Spizzirri at her daughter’s grave, said the newspaper. “I can still feel her hand. And I see her everywhere. Her hair at the grocery store. Her smile.”
In 1993, Spizzirri had gone on to found the Save-A-Life Foundation, for teaching first aid to students. She was greatly responsible for a 1995 law requiring Illinois police officers and firefighters to be trained in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. By this time, Spizzirri was a darling of politicians and bureaucrats, although it was a matter of record that she had been convicted twice for shoplifting. Save-A-Life began raking in money from government grants.
But few, if any, seemed to have noticed that less than a month after that 1995 Tribune story appeared, the newspaper had retracted key points. In the first story, the writer had said, “The first police officers on the scene balked at administering aid. By the time the paramedics arrived, Christina had bled to death on the highway.”
On February 7, 1995, the Tribune stated that Christina had “died in a hospital more than an hour after the accident,” not on the highway. The story had suggested that Christina died from bleeding from a severed arm. But the Tribune had to admit she had died of multiple traumatic injuries, including a depressed skull. The police officers who came to the scene had not “balked” at administering first aid, but they were not trained in the practice. “It is unlikely that basic first aid would have saved her,” said the embarrassed Tribune.
But it wasn’t until November of 2006 that ABC 7 News in Chicago, in the first of several broadcasts, exposed more of Spizzirri’s untruthful statements. She had told the station that she was a registered nurse. But the station reported that the institution from which she had claimed to receive her nursing degree had never given her one. A hospital in which she had claimed to be a transplant nurse said she had been a patient care assistant, which is akin to a candy striper. After the announcer challenged her on the assertion that the accident was a hit-and-run, she walked out of the interview. Her abrupt departure was shown on TV.
By this time, her foundation had raised about $8 million from such groups as the Illinois Department of Public Health and the United States Centers for Disease Control, and she had been paid more than $100,000 in some years. She had gathered support from such politicians as Democrat Dick Durbin, now a Senate kingpin, and Norm Coleman, then a Republican senator. Ronald McDonald had joined the fan club. Mike Brown, then head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, embraced the movement and was shown in a picture with Spizzirri. (After Katrina hit, President George W. Bush uttered the famous remark, “Brownie, you’re doing a heckuva job.” When it was apparent he wasn’t, he resigned.)
Arne Duncan, then the chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools, now United States Secretary of Education, had lauded what the foundation was doing for the schools and effused, “Carol [Spizzirri] is one of my heroes.” That praise had come two months before the series of ABC 7 shows began.
Soon, the support began falling off, and Spizzirri went in another direction: campaigning against cyberstalking. On June 29, 2009, the Save-A-Life Foundation closed down.
And Carol Spizzirri came to San Marcos. I have confirmed that she and a former treasurer of Save-A-Life are living at Palomar Estates West, a mobile home community in San Marcos. Four phone numbers said to be theirs led nowhere. I wrote emails to her last surviving daughter and her closest friend, asking that Spizzirri call me but have heard nothing. So Ernie Barrera, a Reader contributor, went there to ask her questions and take photos of the mobile home. Prior to going, he watched the Chicago TV tape so he knew what she looked and sounded like. He met a woman in front of the Spizzirri home. “I asked if she was Carol Spizzirri. She said no and refused to identify herself. I was sure it was she. The looks were the same, the voice the same as on the TV tape,” says Barrera.
In June of this year, the Illinois attorney general wrote to Spizzirri, noting that in its most recent yearly report, Save-A-Life had $152,112 in net assets. “Please provide information on who received the remaining assets of the foundation,” wrote the attorney general’s office, which also inquired about the use of sale proceeds of a foundation-owned building. I asked the attorney general’s office both by phone and email for a response and have received none.
I have gone through records of Lake County, Illinois, where Spizzirri lived. On May 18, 1992 — four months before the fatal accident — Christina filed for an order of protection against her mother. A neighbor who lives four houses away was willing to be Christina’s primary caretaker. The complaint stated that Spizzirri had struck Christina “on several occasions and threatened her on many occasions.” The order of protection, granted the same month, barred Spizzirri from seeing her daughter at several locations such as school and work. Christina “fears her mother will attempt to harass her or retaliate,” said the complaint. Spizzirri asserted, among other things, that she could use “reasonable force to discipline a child” who needed medical attention. In July, Spizzirri got Christina back — two months before she was killed.
Christina’s filing for protection may have been triggered by an incident on May 4, 1992, when, Lake County Circuit Court records show, Spizzirri complained that her daughter damaged a curio cabinet in the household and did physical damage to a second daughter. Christina was placed on $20,000 bail and charged with a misdemeanor.
Christina’s father, Gordon Pratt of Milwaukee, who divorced Spizzirri in 1981, says that Spizzirri had been out drinking that May evening with the other daughter and came home at 2:00 a.m. Christina, who was underage, had also been drinking and came home later. “There was a dispute and it escalated into a physical confrontation,” he says, relating a phone call he received from Christina. Soon, both Spizzirri and the other daughter were hitting Christina, who fought back, says Pratt. She shoved the curio cabinet in trying to get out the door.

I wanted to scream at the TV….”Kirsten, because they legalized killing babies”. And, after knowing the facts of not only this one focus of abomination but soooo many other horrors that have taken place (mothers left to bleed to death, etc.), how can anyone still qualify their “objective” comments with “no matter what side you are on with this question, and I’m pro-choice”….. Alleged McConnell eavesdropper has prior trespass arrest
One of the two Progress Kentucky co-founders involved in the alleged illegal wiretapping of Senator Mitch McConnell was charged in November of last year for illegally trespassing.
Activist Curtis Morrison was charged with third degree criminal trespassing on November 25th in Jefferson County, Ky., and the bail was set at $50.00. His pretrial conference is set for May 13, 2013.
Morrison has long been involved in Kentucky left-wing politics. He was a part of the Occupy Louisville movement from the beginning and ran for the Kentucky State Senate in District 35.
Morrison, who is openly gay, has also been involved in gay political causes as well. He campaigned against California’s Proposition 8.
Progress Kentucky has also come under fire for racist tweets against Mitch McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, Bush’s former labor secretary, suggesting that she supports outsourcing jobs to China because she is Taiwanese-American.
Morrison resented the media’s coverage. “There’s a little bit of Shirley Sherrod in there,” Morrison said, referring to the black Agricultural employee who was fired over controversial edited videos that are the center of an ongoing lawsuit. “I think the media backlash has been a little extreme, in my opinion.”
In 2005, Morrison was arrested for driving with no insurance. The case was eventually dismissed.
“I am not doing interviews at this time and have no plans to do so in the near future,” a post yesterday at Morrison’s website said.
Morrison did not return phone calls or emails requesting that he speak.

With all due respect to your own good will here, Cabby, IF there was any previous examination of prior abortion horrors (i.e. women bleeding to death; ruptures; fully formed babies discovered in jars, etc.) admitted to by Kirsten BEFORE this news, which she’s obviously already aware of, she would have long ago given this rather “objective” questioning about the media’s “simple lack of curiosity”. This time it is just simply too horrific of a story NOT to look completely heartless if not admitted to in some way. And remember, she didn’t mention the actual crimes (which didn’t effect her attitude as admitted) personally but only the lack of curiosity by her comrades. I think she simply wished to give the over the top lib approach to this history of horror a “respectable” look of at least some “objectivity” about the reporting….without bending an inch in any personal attitude, as admitted. So I wouldn’t put her in even a tad of the remorse that Dr. Nathanson had loudly demonstrated by his activities and constant work to help make some amends. No one hailed him before that while the deeds were still being committed. It’s been the lack of coverage…esp. with the March For Life opposition….for decades now that people like Kirsten have only helped and tried to make the “choice” stuff seem like it has some corner of a saving grace. To not recognize that is only helping the status quo by taking a sip of their own Kool-Aid and saying that it was too little to really hurt. Sorry to offend if I’m still in a waiting mode before anointing basically the same approach to the 55,000,000 lives taken in most gruesome of murders. But personal prayers for the ultimate conversions do go out.

In a most troubling criminal cover up, concerning the mass murder of more Americans, this time in Afghanistan, the heart tugger, Anne Smedinghoff, age 25, was somehow in the lead on this diplomatic mission, in a war zone, a female who could be barely out of university, having no combat status nor status in comprehending security, was prettily in charge of this “donating books to an Afghani school”.
There is a huge problem in this, besides a girl charge in a combat zone, because the Obama regime was caught lying again just like at Benghazi.
Anne Smedinghoff left a secure column, took US Soldiers out into the open, for a 200 yard walk in which all got lost in thinking a Ministry building was a school.
Then they walked back in this exposed combat zone to the target base, where a suicide bomber was waiting and then blew himself up murdering and injuring the party.
This party included an injured Afghani reporter, LOST in his own city.
Instead of stating the reality of this, the Obama regime and all media instead stated this woman was in an armoured column and was rammed by a suicide bomber in another vehicle…
Very OT, but trying to observe nature to gain some understanding.
I have chickens that I raised from peeps. In fact it was “tax day” 2012 when I picked them up, and they were just 5 days old. I coddled them and put up with the smell in my laundry room till I couldn’t bare it anymore….then I moved them to the coop outside.
Well, they survived the winter and have provided me with lots of eggs. But they got bored, and started pecking at each other.
A friend told me that I should turn them loose about 2 hours before sunset to graze and run around. They will naturally return when it gets dark.
Well….. I did that. I made sure my dog was locked up…. and I let them FREE! Only thing is….. they didn’t seem to understand their freedom. They wondered no more than 10′ ft. from the coop…..then within a half hour they gathered back into the coop……well before sunset.
Tonight, I tried again. I sat outside in the grass and called them out. One of them came over and sat beside me. She let me pet her. Yet still, a couple of them wouldn’t dare leave the pen.
Just thinking………….freedom must be scary to some people……and some chickens.

And Obama paid only an 18% tax rate….all the while pumping more and more hot air about rich people paying more than their fair share…..he said he donated over 24.6%of his income to charity…does anyone really believe that? He also said he donated to over 33 different charities ! ( hahaha)…I would like to see the documentation to support that deduction…
But that documentation will be like his birth certificate…SEALED FOR LIFE…
My tax rate this year was over 20% ….I didn’t have anything left to donate to charity….
Yet the illegal Mexicans can claim nephews and nieces living in Mexico as dependent children and get refunds of tens of thousands of dollars…..where is the justice in this?
Our tax system SUCKS…and is crying out for reform….but those bastards in Washington want to keep the little man under their thumb……..not for much longer.
