Pope elections fail twice, March 13, 2013, Black smoke over Sistine Chapel, Cardinals in secret conclave, Roman Catholic Church electing last pope?

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”…Saint Malachy

“…and there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.”  … Luke 21:25

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”…Jesus, John 8:32

From Reuters March 13, 2013.

“Black smoke as morning fails to bring new pope”

“Cardinals in secret conclave failed twice on Wednesday morning to elect a new pope, as black smoke over the Sistine Chapel showed ballots on the first full day of voting were inconclusive.

After an inconclusive first vote on Tuesday night, the 115 cardinal electors should hold another two ballots later on Wednesday after praying for inspiration from God for a choice that can lead the Roman Catholic Church out of crisis.

Having spent the night closeted in a nearby guesthouse, the cardinals attended Mass in the Pauline Chapel in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace and returned to the Renaissance splendor of the Sistine Chapel to hold the two morning ballots.

They face a tough task in finding one of their number capable of facing a string of scandals and internal strife which are thought to have contributed to Pope Benedict’s decision in February to become the first pontiff in 600 years to resign.

A chimney above the chapel, where the cardinals are meeting beneath Michelangelo’s luminous fresco of the Last Judgment, will signal a decision with white smoke. More black smoke will indicate no choice has been made.

With several leading candidates, or “papabili”, the cardinals are unlikely to reach a decision on who will lead the world’s 1.2 billion Roman Catholics before Wednesday afternoon, with many experts forecasting white smoke to emerge on Thursday.”

  8. Only “last Pope” of this era….before the new era of peace….the scriptural “1000” years when Satan will be chained. Since the Church/Body of Christ will still exist on earth, still awaiting the final coming of Christ, in judgement/end of world, there is nothing to say that there will not be Popes leading the Church continually during the coming era which will be completely different than anything known in the last 2000 years. The teaching from the early Church Fathers is that we are in the “Sixth Day” BEFORE the Day of Rest/7th Day/New Era. The world must be purified for this 7th Day to arrive and so the tribulations will come when Satan acts more forcefully than ever, knowing his time now is short to accomplish “his” intended destruction of believers, before he is chained.

A great read on the “Sixth Day”…in fact, all of this young evangelist’s writings are great. Connects things that are happening with the spiritual and only uses scripture, early Church Fathers, and approved “mystics”:

Some interesting “prophecies/messages” re: this next Pope, approved by Msgr. Esseff, the spiritual director of Mother Theresa and her sisters, and who himself had for his own spiritual director none other than Padre Pio are here:

“Africa gives the Vatican bragging rights.

It is the one significant part of the Catholic world that is on the rise, with near explosive growth. The question is whether Africa’s enthusiastic response to the missionary church should be rewarded with the election of an African pope.

The idea certainly resonated with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI, in 2004, when he told German TV that “we are ready for a black pope” and called Africa the “spiritual lung of the world.” He said much the same in 2009 when he visited Cameroon and Angola (he went to Benin in 2011).”

“Cardinals fail to elect pope after three ballots

Black smoke rose from above the Sistine Chapel for a second day on Wednesday after a secret conclave of cardinals held two more inconclusive votes for a new pope to lead the troubled Church.

enaissance splendor on Tuesday and held their first inconclusive ballot that evening.

Black smoke emerged again on Wednesday after the cardinals held two morning ballots. Before returning to the conclave they had prayed for inspiration from God to choose a leader who can lead the Church out of scandal and internal strife.

Two more sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoon under a schedule that sees four votes each day. When the new pontiff is elected, white smoke will billow from the makeshift chimney above the chapel and the bells of St Peter’s Basilica will ring.”

  13. CW, from the article you posted at 10:15

“The church also appeals to the conservative nature of many Africans, who generally take a dim view of abortion and homosexuality.”

Is Cardinal Turkson of this mindset? What else is known about him? Something tells me he might be the one.

  14. Odd, don’t you think………….

That our basic instincts as human beings tell us that abortion and homosexuality are wrong. Then we are labeled “conservative”.

When we are “enlightened”, we realize how wonderful child sacrifice and sodomy truely is. Go figure.

    Call me unenlightened.

  15. I personally love the second youngest Cardinal….from the Philippines…Luis Antonio Tagle. He is brilliant but humble, simple, great communicator, full of the Holy Spirit, would be great for the youth, lover of the poor, well balanced, conservative who communicates Christ to his audiences. If Benedict is the bridge between two great Popes….JPII and ?….you can’t but compare the “talents” and intellectual abilities of Tagle with JPII. Here is a bit on Tagle from the Rome watcher, John Allen:

    JPII acted…Tagle sings:

A taste of his homilies (beautiful) and a good interview:

I don’t believe the conservative writers at American Thinker are stupid. More likely they are just trying to justify as NBC those political leaders they like as the left has done with O. If redefinition is ok for the left then they probably feel the same way from the right.

In both cases its win POSTUS at all costs and the Constitution be damned.

  17. Philo-Publius

POSTUS = President of Stealing the US.

  18. Guess I was wrong.

  19. Air Force Brat!

Re “Peter the Roman” as listed by St. Malachy, it is not necessary to have the birth name of Peter, nor would he have to take the papal name Peter II. “Peter the Roman” is descriptive, as are all Malachy’s names for the 112 Popes from his time to the time of the End.

Alternatively, it’s not impossible that something would happen to the newly-elected Pope within a very short period of time, in which case another papal election would immediately have to be held.

Another alternative is that if the newly-elected Pope were to turn out to be the False Prophet spoken of in the Bible, it’s not impossible that there would be a schism within the Church, with the “true” Catholics led by someone either named Peter at birth, or who led the split-off faction under the name of Peter.

Point is, we just don’t know. All we can do is wait and see how events pan out.
