NC unemployment worse than reported, Over 10 percent, North carolina fourth highest, Economy worse than first thought, Truth Team notification
“Guilford (Large NC County) appears on it’s way to a third consecutive year with annual jobless rates in double digits. Economists say that likely hasn’t happened since the Great Depression.”…Greensboro News Record December 2, 2011
“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed–if all records told the same tale–then the lie passed into history and became truth. “Who controls the past,” ran the Party slogan, “controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”…George Orwell, “1984″
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”…Jesus, John 8:32
We told you so.
Citizen Wells, Rush Limbaugh and others criticized the stated unemployment rate from the past several months. I knew from my math background and cursory examination of the data that the reported rates were wrong and the economy much worse.
However, I am confident that the Truth Team is on top of this. As part of my efforts to work with the Truth Team to make certain that the candidates quote the correct numbers, I gave them a heads up several weeks ago.
From Citizen Wells February 16, 2012.
“NC Truth Team, Citizen Wells provides facts for Obama Truth Team and Republicans, North Carolina jobs unemployment hardships, No more lies”
““While the job market showed signs of growth last year, both Guilford and the state ended 2011 with more people unemployed than was the case the previous
December.
In Guilford , nearly 24,500 didn’t have jobs; statewide, the number surpassed 446,000.
And both the county and the state ended the year with jobless rates of 9.9 percent. That’s equal to or higher than the rates a year earlier.”
“At the current rate of growth–adding 8,300 annually–it will take 3.5 years–or until 2016–to regain the positions lost during and after the Great recession.
“Looking ahead, Quinterno said he expects more of the same this year.
“Absent robust job growth, joblessness and associated hardships will remain widespread,” he wrote. “2012 could well be the fifth consecutive year of negative or minimal job growth in North Carolina.””
“The employment picture is much bleaker.”
““The weak job growth recorded during 2011 did little to replace the jobs lost earlier in the business cycle. Since the onset of the “Great Recession,” North Carolina has lost, on net, 295,300 positions, or 7.1 percent of its payroll employment base. The maximum job loss recorded during the business cycle occurred in February 2010, when the state had 323,000 fewer jobs (-7.7 percent) than it did 26 months before. Since that time, North Carolina has netted 27,700 positions (+0.7 percent), for an average monthly gain of nearly 1,300 jobs. While the state’s economy added more jobs in 2011 than in 2010 (+19,600 versus +5,400), the growth was too weak to materially alter the employment situation. Even if the annual level of job growth were to triple, it still would take roughly five years to close the current jobs gap, holding all else equal.”
“Estimates of the underemployment rate, a broader measure of labor under-utilization prepared by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, indicate that 17.9 percent of North Carolina’s adjusted labor force was underemployed, on average, in 2011. That measure includes not only individuals who meet the formal definition of unemployment, but also those working part-time despite preferring full-time work and those marginally attached to the workforce. Over the year, the statewide underemployment rate rose by 0.5 percentage points, rising to 17.9 percent from a level of 17.4 percent in 2010.
Regardless of the exact measure used, a sizable amount of labor in North Carolina is currently sitting idle. Nearly 10 of every 100 members of the state’s labor force are unemployed (seasonally adjusted), while almost 18 of every 100 are underemployed. Moreover, the share of adult North Carolinians with a job has fallen sharply since late 2007. In December 2011, only 55.6 percent of working-age North Carolinians (seasonally adjusted) had jobs, a level no different from the one posted one year prior. This rate actually fell to a low of 55.3 percent near the end of 2011.Q3. At no other time since 1976 has the employment-to-population been as low as it has been in recent months (fig. 7). The current ratio also is well below the historical average rate of 63.6 recorded between January 1976 and December 2007.””
I would like to thank the Greensboro News Record for reporting this today, March 14, 2012.
“Update: N.C. jobless rate still above 10 percent”
“New, more-accurate estimates show North Carolina’s unemployment rate stayed above 10 percent throughout 2011, falling to 10.2 percent in January in a key election battleground state, the state Commerce Department reported today.
North Carolina’s jobless rate was the fourth-highest in the country in January, trailing California, Rhode Island and Nevada, which leads the nation with a 12.7 percent unemployment rate.
The report also pointed to some bright spots amid signs of slow improvement in the national economy. An additional 14,213 people were drawing paychecks in January. An extra 6,245 entered the workforce as previously discouraged or young workers started looking for jobs.
On the downside, nearly 8,000 more people were on unemployment rolls in January than in the previous month.
“These new data say the economy is improving, but it’s also saying the economy is worse than we first thought,” said James Kleckley, director of the Bureau of Business Research at East Carolina University.
The estimates were revised in an annual re-examination of available data coupled with U.S. Census information of people reporting themselves as working or unemployed.
The result was that earlier estimates of North Carolina’s unemployment rate dropping below 10 percent in December were revised upward. The new estimates are that the state’s unemployment rate was 10.4 percent in November and December before falling to 10.2 percent in January. The national average was 8.3 percent in January.
“What everything’s been saying is that North Carolina has been improving but not by leaps and bounds by any means,” Kleckley said. “This will make me have to rethink some of the other data. I didn’t expect it. I expected the unemployment rate to be a little lower.”
North Carolina lost more than 330,000 jobs by the time the national recession bottomed out in February 2010, state data showed Tuesday. Since then, the state has gained back about 80,000 jobs, or about a quarter of the jobs lost, John Connaughton, an economic forecaster at UNC-Charlotte.
In January, North Carolina employers added 17,000 more payroll jobs than they cut.
“We had a big January jump,” said Connaughton, who predicts the state’s businesses to add about 50,000 jobs this year.
“The issue here is I think the economy has turned a corner. 2012 is going to start to feel like a recovery for most people,” he said. “People are going to say, ‘Yep, things are getting better. I’ve got job opportunities. I’ve got options.’ ”
Tuesday’s report comes during an election year in which the economy and job prospects are expected to be a huge issue. President Barack Obama is targeting North Carolina as key to his re-election prospects. He narrowly won the state in 2008, reversing a generation of voters picking Republican presidential candidates.
With rising stock markets, increased manufacturing and other indicators pointing to a slowly improving U.S. economy, North Carolina residents have reported increasing optimism. An Elon University poll released last week found about two-thirds of state residents think the economy either will stay the same or get better in the months ahead. More than half of the poll’s respondents said the economy was the most important issue facing the state.
Small-business owners across the country reported increasing optimism for the sixth straight month in February, the National Federation of Independent Business said Tuesday. The hopeful forecast is spreading among North Carolina’s main-street business community, but it’s far too early to celebrate, NFIB state director Gregg Thompson said.
“It looks like things are finally turning around, but unless the pace of recovery picks up, it’ll be years before we’re back where we started,” he said.”

If Rush Limbaugh has not noticed or reported this perhaps someone here can inform him tomorrow.
The NC unemployment rate reevaluation is significant for several reasons.
A) The Democrat convention will be in NC.
B) This is symbolic of false rates for the rest of the country. Bad data, bad reporting.
As long as theFederal government continues it’s present course it is UNLIKELY that very much,if any recovery at all will happen in the near future. The present level of unemployment will probably continue for at least another 5 years. The depression actually lasted clear up to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s infamous declaration of war against Japan, soon after the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. The depression ended because a hell of a lot of our HEAVY INDUSTRY was NATIONALISED which to a point changed the dynamics of the monetary system as well. If a war between the US and a foreign country would occur, it is unlikely that this time nationalisation of our heavy industries would make any differrence at all.
OT but IMPORTANT………………………
Has anyone seen the US FLAG with Soetoero’s picture on it? A really sarcastic little BITC# at the Democratic Headquarters in Florida thought it was really cool to fly a flag bearing Soetoro’s likeness in place of the stars. She didn’t even Know that it is illegal to alter the us flag in such a venue. After a few vets got on her case she took it down
Nevada has worse unemployment, thanks to the pResident, and his faithful idiots in congress. 12.6 percent unemployment last I heard. It was 14.5 percent at one time. There are empty buildings for lease, everywhere one looks in Reno NV, and home foreclosures are highest in the nation in this state.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. California in it’s quest for more tax revenue is going to make companies in CA, with internet sales out of state, to collect sales tax on those sales. That move by Jerry Brown, the democrat Gov. is driving businesses across the CA state line to places like Reno NV, where they don’t require those businesses to charge sales tax on out of state internet sales, which adds approximately 8 percent to the purchase of any product.
In the mean time CA is heading for bankruptcy.
Rod Blagojevich is saying good-bye shortly and the Chicago press is on lock-down and not reporting on Obama’s participation with the selling of the Senate seat. This is WHAT happened and the press will never tell the truth;
It started with John Wyma, Rod Blagojevich’s good friend and insider turned “reluctant” informant by the FBI…It was John Wyma who tipped off John Chase of the Chicago Tribune and his old friend Rahm Emanuel, he did this for his friends whom he was still loyal would not get caught on wire taps…Just after the 2008 election, Barack Obama phoned Tom Balanoff of the SEIU and asked him to act as an emissary between the two political camp, which he eagerly , agreed, Balaonoff’s job was to tell Blagojevich that he wanted Vallerie Jarrett to replace him in the Senate…He did so and many of his conversations were recorded on federal wire tapes (although Emanuel and Obama knew that the feds were listening, it is unsure if they related this to Balanoff)…One week before Blagojevich was arrested John Chase of the Chicago Tribune phoned a member of his staff telling him of the feds covert investigation of him…Day’s after his arrest then President Elect Obama felt pressure to conduct an internal investigation, he hired Craig Greg to investigate any/all communications between the two political camps, predictalby “no wrong doing” was found in the report he turned over to the press and public…HOWEVER, there was NO MENTION of Obama’s contact with Tom Balanoff who had testified in both trials of Rod Blagojevich that he had spoken directly to Obama…Just before Obama turned this report over to the press he was summoned by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald to be interviewed by 4 federal agents, 2 FBI and 2 U.S. Attorney’s for over 2 hours…At the beginning of this meeting Obama’s lawyer turned over this report to the federal agents, they gave it back to them telling them to hang onto it until after the investigation was complete, THEY GAVE IT TO THEM ANYWYAY!!!
In both trials of Rod Blagojevich his defense requested the 302’s (minutes to the meeting), they were repeatedly denied for multiple reasons…Could it be possible that Obama being interviewed by 4 federal agents for over 2 hours by agents who already knew he had spoken with Tom Balanoff, neglected to ask him about his conversations? Obama turned over this same report to the public where there is no mention of him speaking to Balanoff, did he lie to the feds? Will he turn the 302’s over to the public, in honor of his political promises of transparancy? Will he pardon Blagojevich for not making a public stink about the 302’s?
Don’t think Obama made it out of Chicago without being corrupted.
Bessie.
I still think that the senate seat was a diversion.
CW; I do to but it still provided the feds with criminal activity on behalf of Obama his administration and themselves by covering up for the President elect…The feds tried to portray John Wyma as an eager informant who was outraged over the corruption which we now know is a big fat lie, he was very much reluctant, tipping off the Trib to protect his friends…If you listen to the recordings of Rahm Emanuel, he leaves little doubt that he knew the feds were listening…and I still want the 302’s made public, there is no reason for them not to have been turned over in the trial of Rod Blagojevich…Obama’s report contradicted the prosecutions key witness in both trials, his request to subpoena Obama was of course denied but there is no reason that I can see that they would not give them and the public the minutes to this meeting.

CW – Could this be the reason the Democrats are holding their convention in Charlotte?
The author was interviewed on MSNBC this afternoon on the Rattigan Show.

PS – MSNBC is the rectal thermometer for “Potomac Fever”!!!
AND Chris Matthews is the “NURSE”.
I no lawyer but…could someone in Hawaii sue/arrest Onaka for fraud or filing a false document?
Wouldn’t Onaka need to either 1) admit it was a fraud and go to prison or 2) show the one he issued was different and he was not to blame?
Seems like a sheriff/patriot friend in Hawaii could get the ball rolling…
Don’t the Feds put pressure on the little fish to get them to turn on the big ones?
Mr. Bill.
The main reason is that NC is crucial & BO barely won in 08.
Now they are fighting an uphill battle.

Thanks for the video. Makes me want to cry or scream or… buy ammo…
Sorry CW if I used a bad word. (In moderation at 6:40), but I’m sure you feel the same.
CW – Thanks. Later Chris Matthews interviewed George Clooney and author John Prendergast to “discuss the situation in Sudan”.
I googled and found the following –

Your post about the flag with BO’s picture on it reminded me that he is now wearing his flag pin again, while he is campaigning. Hypocrisy is his middle name.
Very interesting post at Breitbart’s Big Hollywood site. The Oscar-winning producer of Schindler’s List, Gerald R. Molen, wrote an outstanding article blasting BHO, and praising Breitbart. Some in Hollywood may be coming to their senses.

According to certain other blogs there is a positive move of the UN to move forward on a GLOBAL FIREARMS BAN. The UN HAS NO AUTHORITY OVER OUR CONSTITUTION. We have the right to bear arms and until the Constitution is somehow rendered invalid. This has not happened. It takes 3/4 of the states together to even convene a Constitutional amendment. This has NOT happened. If the UN SENDS THEIR GOONS ASHORE TO KILL US THEN WE ARE JUSTIFIED IN KILLING THEM before they can kill us.
Now we have people like Panetta, and Soetoro making little deals regarding our FREEDOM. Neither Soetoro OR PANETTA can OVERRIDE the Constitution, even though they think they can. If Soetoro would invite the UN in to fight against Americans then he will have committed the worst possible TREASON AGAINST the entirety of the US and all Americans, for which he would probably be found guilty and IMPRISONED. Again Soetoro CANNOT override the Constitution legally. He has tried andn there is a HELL of a lot of people who have been led to believe that he CAN OVERRIDE it . They are the WEAK MINDED people who think UP is DOWN. Again to even do anything regarding the Constitution it requires 3/4 of all the states together.
That is why I keep saying our Republic is NOT DEAD,in spite of the OVEREDUCATED SNOT NOSED little recent grads who think they have the power to OVERRIDE OUR CONSTITUTION. They have been TAUGHT by the colleges that UP is DOWN and now they don’t seem to have the mentality to discern the truth. Then there are others who know the truth but they think that their UTOPIA is just around the corner, and that a FREE LIVING is going to be handed to them by Soetoro. Sadly the YOUNG PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE (YUPPIES) are going to become some of the worst cases of >>> NOTHING, that is what they will have left if Soetoro and his goons are given a second term. You don’t have to believe me ,and you probably don’t but that is ok just don’t blame everyone else for your own stupidity
BYE BYE ………Gotta find my way back under my rock!
