Ron Paul blames America for 9/11, GOP debate, Monday, September 12, 2011, Whose side is Paul on?, Left wing propaganda
“With friends like the Saudis, who needs enemies?”
“You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy
sees!”…Rudyard Kipling, “Tommy”
“Militant Islam derives from Islam but is a misanthropic, misogynist, triumphalist, millenarian, anti-modern, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, terroristic, jihadistic, and suicidal version of it. Fortunately, it appeals to only about 10 percent to 15 percent of Muslims, meaning that a substantial majority would prefer a more moderate version.”…Daniel Pipes
If you want politically correct, go somewhere else.
The US defeated Nazi Germany and Japan and then helped rebuild the countries.
In 1990 Saudi Arabia asked for US troops to help stop the invasion of Kuwait and ultimately protect the Saudis.
The French, Germans and Russians were in bed with Saddam Hussein. I believe that the US invasion of Iraq could have been avoided if the United Nations had done it’s job.
I could have blasted Ron Paul in late 2008 when he stated that he would be laughed out of Congress if he challenged Obama’s eligibility. I did not let Mr. Constitution have it then. He was behaving like the rest of the sheep.
I agree with Glenn Beck, some of the statements made by Ron Paul make sense. However, Paul crossed over the line when he blamed America for 9/11. It was irresponsible and wrong!
Ron Paul mentioned the Saudis when he spoke of American Military Bases. His speech sounded more like left wing propaganda and employed selective references. Here are some facts regarding the Saudis.
From Daniel Pipes, winter of 2002/2003.
“DanielPipes.org looks at the Middle East, Islam, terrorism, U.S.
foreign policy, and related topics from the perspective of an American
with a Ph.D. in medieval Middle East history who now heads a
current-affairs think tank, the Middle East Forum.”
“The Scandal of U.S.-Saudi Relations”
“Consider two symbolic moments in the U.S.-Saudi relationship involving
a visit by one leader to the other’s country. In November 1990,
President George H.W. Bush went to the Persian Gulf region with his
wife and top congressional leaders at Thanksgiving time to visit the
400,000 troops gathered in Saudi Arabia, whom he sent there to protect
that country from an Iraqi invasion. When the Saudi authorities
learned that the President intended to say grace before a festive
Thanksgiving dinner, they remonstrated; Saudi Arabia knows only one
religion, they said, and that is Islam. Bush acceded, and he and his
entourage instead celebrated the holiday on the U.S.S. Durham, an
amphibious cargo ship sitting in international waters.
In April 2002, as Crown Prince Abdallah of Saudi Arabia, the country’s
effective ruler, was about to travel across Texas to visit President
George W. Bush, an advance group talked to the airport manager in Waco
(the airport serving the President’s ranch in Crawford) “and told him
they did not want any females on the ramp and also said there should
not be any females talking to the airplane.”[2] The Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) at Waco complied with this request and passed it
to three other FAA stations on the crown prince’s route, which also
complied. Then, when queried about this matter, both the FAA and the
State Department joined the Saudi foreign minister in flat-out denying
that there ever was a Saudi request for male-only controllers.
The import of these incidents is clear enough: Official Americans in
Saudi Arabia bend to Saudi customs, and official Americans in the
United States do so as well. And it’s not just a matter of travel
etiquette; one finds parallel American obsequiousness concerning such
issues as energy, security, religion and personal status. The Saudis
routinely set the terms of this bilateral relationship. For decades,
U.S. government agencies have engaged in a consistent pattern of
deference to Saudi wishes, making so many unwonted and unnecessary
concessions that one gets the impression that a switch has taken
place, with both sides forgetting which of them is the great power and
which the minor one. I shall first document this claim, then offer an
explanation for it, and conclude with a policy recommendation.”
“Starting in 1991, the U.S. military required its female personnel
based in Saudi Arabia to wear black, head-to-foot abayas. (This makes
Saudi Arabia the only country in the world where U.S. military
personnel are expected to wear a religiously-mandated garment.)
Further, the women had to ride in the back seat of vehicles and be
accompanied by a man when off base.”
“The pattern of Saudi fathers abducting children from the United States
to Saudi Arabia, and then keeping them there with the full agreement
of the Saudi authorities, affects at least 92 children of U.S. mothers
and Saudi fathers, perhaps many more. In each of these heartbreaking
cases, the State Department has behaved with weakness bordering on
sycophancy. To be specific, it has accepted the Saudi law that gives
the father near-absolute control over the movement and activities of
his children and wife (or wives). The department has made no real
efforts to signal its displeasure to the Saudi authorities over these
cases, much less made vigorous efforts to free the children held
against their American families’ wishes.”
“In Saudi Arabia, the U.S. government submits to restrictions on
Christian practices that it would find totally unacceptable anywhere
else in the world-starting with the U.S. president’s not celebrating
Thanksgiving in the Kingdom, as mentioned above. The hundreds of
thousands of American troops in Saudi Arabia in December 1990 were not
permitted to hold formal Christmas services at their bases on Saudi
soil; all that was allowed to them were “C-word morale services” held
in places where they would be invisible to the outside world, such as
tents and mess halls. The goal was for no Saudi to be made to suffer
the knowledge that Christians were at prayer.”
“With Jews, the issue is not freedom of religious practice in Saudi
Arabia; it is simply gaining entry to the Kingdom. In several
instances over many years, agencies of the U.S. government have
excluded Jewish Americans from positions in Saudi Arabia. Hunter
explains that a protocol prohibiting Jews being assigned to the
Kingdom was signed by the U.S. Embassy in Jeddah and the Saudi
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a result of which the State Department
avoids sending Jewish employees to reside in Saudi Arabia.[11] Select
senior diplomats of Jewish origin may briefly visit the country on
official business but “no low or mid-level Jewish-American diplomat
was permitted to be stationed/reside in Kingdom” during Hunter’s
three-year experience.”
“Mail to U.S. military and official government personnel enters the
Kingdom on U.S. military craft, and American officials in Saudi Arabia
follow Saudi wishes by seizing and disposing of Christmas trees and
decorations and other symbols of the holiday. They seize and destroy
Christmas cards sent to (the mostly non-official) Americans who
receive their mail through a Saudi postal box, and even tear from the
envelope U.S. stamps portraying religious scenes.”

Obama has launched a new internet site where he wants citizens to inform on their neighbors. They used to do that in commie countries didn’t they?
Obama is the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers.
I’m going to report Keith Olbermann to the site. Olbermann keeps launching attacks on reason that are harmful to the country. Obama’s secret police need to put a stop to his outbursts before they cause any more damage.
I believe it was on his show yesterday that Rush said both Paul and Hutchinson should just move over to the Democrat party where they would be more comfortable.
Orly Taitz to Meet with Congressional Attorney Next Week

IS IT TO DISCUSS OBAMA’S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER?
by Sharon Rondeau
Dr. Orly Taitz has consulted with private investigators who have issued sworn statements that Obama’s social security number could not have been assigned to him
(Sep. 13, 2011) — Atty. Orly Taitz is reporting that she received a phone call to schedule a meeting with “legal counsel” of “one of the top committee chairs in Congress.”
Taitz filed a lawsuit in February 2011 against Michael Astrue, the commissioner of the Social Security Administration, for refusing to release information through a Freedom of Information Act request she had made
The media has shown no interest in the evidence that Obama is using a fraudulent social security number and provided false information to the public about the issue. Why would they not be investigating Taitz’s claims?

Amen! Thanks CW!
One of the many things that I have learned from these debates is that ron paul is reprehensible. His hatred of America is almost as bad as boHillary’s. Even the good things he says about government waste and over-regulation is said much better by Gingrich, Cain and Perry.
It is time for the Republicans to boot ron paul off the stage for good.
Are They All Guilty of “Slimy” Reporting?

EVIDENCE OF FORGERY AND A FOREIGN BIRTH HAVE BEEN IGNORED

Who are today’s Woodward & Bernstein in regard to Obama’s lack of “transparency?”
(Sep. 13, 2011) — After reading some of the thoughtful and considerate comments to the Washington Slime’s EDITORIAL: The Foreign-born candidate, I couldn’t help “rippin’ ‘em a new one.” Here is what I posted:

Rick Perry’s going to win the GOP nom. Why? Because unlike Mitt Romney, Perry’s just so lifelike. That’s Jonah Goldberg’s take, anyway. In his Tuesday column, he writes that Romney “has an authentic inauthenticity problem.”
I have shaken Romney’s hand a few times, and I can say he feels surprisingly lifelike. But politically he just seems fake, even though what you see is what he really is. Romney is a much better candidate than he was in 2008, but there’s still something about the guy that makes people say, “There’s just something about that guy.” And given Romney’s rich history of flip-flops, he just seems untrustworthy to the tea-fueled base of the GOP.
That’s in contrast with Perry, who, Goldberg says…
doesn’t have to worry about seeming lifelike enough. He needs to figure out just how much larger than life he can appear without becoming a caricature.
…because Republicans:
really want to like their nominee. Right now, Perry is in that sweet spot.

Romney is fourth in the poll, behind Perry, Herman Cain and Rudolph Giuliani.
“The Birther Summit in Honolulu: Day 1”
“… We spent at least a couple hours at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children today. …
… we went into the records office, and Miki asked to file a form to get her son’s birth records. While she was filling out the form, I happened to overhear a woman who was sitting at a desk say something about the “race” field on a birth certificate she was preparing. I asked her if this was the office that responsible for filling out the birth certificate information for babies born there, and she said that it was.
Because she had just asked something about the “race” field on the birth certificate she was working on, I asked, “Back in 1961, would anyone have ever entered ‘African’ as the race of a parent?” She said, “No, back then they probably would have listed a black person’s race as ‘negro.’” I asked, “So, the word ‘African’ wouldn’t have been used, because that is a nationality and not a race, right?” And she responded, “Right. Nowadays we can use ‘African American’ though.” To which I added, “But, the word ‘African’ by itself has never been used as an entry for race?” And she simply said, “No. Never.”
And there you have it . . . from the folks at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

Here’s hopin that the unnamed congressman who requested a meeting with Orly actually wants to get at the truth and isn’t just looking for some way to squelch the whole investigation.
Here’s what I’m thinking. This congressman isn’t going to do anything on his own. The republican leadership won’t let him. And these guys rarely ever buck the leadership. They don’t keep their chairman’s seat on the committee if they buck leadership. That’s my sorry conclusion, anyway. Hope i’m wrong.
I’m just about at the conclusion that it’s Fox News that is the fertilizer of all evil in this thing. If Fox News would go, or would have gotten fully aboard the eligibility and ssn fraud questions, it would have given the pols all the cover they needed to do their investigations. As it is, if a congressman says anything about the bc or the ssn, the congressman will find himself standing all alone with every other congressman turning their backs on him and every talking head on tv harping about what a moron he is.
These pols don’t want to commit political suicide and they need strength in numbers. They need a bunch of other congressmen to back them and they especially need someone in the news to back them. And dem congressman who wants to investigate something will get the backing of the nytimes and the washpost and msnbc and cnn. That’s where Fox News has let us down, let the whole nation down. Fox News, for some reason or other, is not fulfilling their obligation to be the gadfly of the right. There has to be one to give congressmen cover to do these kind of jobs, and Fox News is the obvious one to do it, and they have let the world down.
Fox News, in my opinion, has played a major role in the undoing of the country. I will not back them when the fbi goes after them for the phone hacking stuff. They didn’t do their job and back us.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-09-14/obama-approval-drops-on-skepticism-of-jobs-plan.html
A majority of Americans don’t believe President Barack Obama’s $447 billion jobs plan will help lower the unemployment rate, skepticism he must overcome as he presses Congress for action and positions himself for re- election.
The downbeat assessment of the American Jobs Act reflects a growing and broad sense of dissatisfaction with the president. Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy by 62 percent to 33 percent, a Bloomberg National Poll conducted Sept. 9-12 shows. The disapproval number represents a nine point increase from six months ago.
The president’s job approval rating also stands at the lowest of his presidency — 45 percent. That rating is driven down in part by a majority of independents, 53 percent, who disapprove of his performance.
The poll hands Obama new lows in each of the categories that measures his performance on the economy: only 36 percent of respondents approve of his efforts to create jobs, 30 percent approve of how he’s tackled the budget deficit and 39 percent approve of his handling of health care.
Compounding Obama’s challenge is that 56 percent of independents, whom the president won in 2008 and will need to win in 2012, are skeptical it will work.
On the economy, 29 percent of independents approve of the job Obama is doing while 66 percent disapprove. Obama is weakest among independents when it comes to his ability to reduce the deficit — under a quarter of those respondents approve of his job in that category, while 67 percent disapprove. On job creation, 30 percent of independents approve of Obama’s efforts while 63 percent disapprove. He scored slightly better among independents on health care with 34 percent approving and 57 percent disapproving.
As I have stated before,
I am no Ron Paul fan. One of the several reasons pointed out is due to his past statements on Obama Eligibility and his responses to individual concerned citizens. Mr. Constitutionalists himself was in fear of being laughed at within Congress, hence avoided the law. If a Coward refuses to obey Constitutional law and the largest fraud committed in the History of this Country, what kind of President would he then make? Nice to pick and choose what law to follow and which to avoid for ridicule, a typical politician.
What if Ron Paul was the President and Russia moves back into Cuba – a direct threat to Americans? Ron fears that he will be laughed at by acting, so does nothing to protect America? As President, Ron feels that acting on illegal immigrants would get him laughed at by the media, so again, Ron does nothing due to fear? Is this the kind of leader Americans want? Not me….I need a fearless leader, a Constitutionalists that knows his/her legal boundaries and stare into the face of the enemy – domestically and foreign alike, grin and strike at their heart for destruction in which ever means quickly achieves such end goals. This is not Ron Paul, who is fearful of what others may think of him, media and other politicians alike.
I agree with Ron Paul’s work on the Federal Reserve, nothing more. He is best served kept in his current roll, nothing more.
Put in simple southern terms: If your hunting dog fears the sound of a gun, don’t let it lead the hunt, it makes a poor example to those that can lead and not fearful.
Current Role.

We won’t know until later this week if Gov. Perry’s poll numbers will be affected by the onslaught. So let’s take a no-spin look at the charges against Mr. Perry.
On the issue of Social Security, he is essentially correct. The federal government has taken funds earmarked for that program and spent them on other things. They’ve been doing it for decades. The problem for Perry is the program is still salvageable, although adjustments will have to be made. So it’s not exactly a Ponzi scheme, but it’s close.
On the issue of mandating Texas schoolgirls to be vaccinated against the HPV virus, which can cause cervical cancer, Mr. Perry admits he made a mistake. His executive order oversteps his authority. The governor should have encouraged the vaccinations but not ordered them.
To be fair to Gov. Perry, he has done many good things as governor. The Texas economy is strong. People are moving to the Lone Star State because the tax rate is low. Texas is tough on violent criminals, and rejects many regulations that handcuff freedom.
In the end, the folks will decide whether Gov. Perry is the strongest candidate against Barack Obama. He stood tall Monday night but took an awful lot of fire.
I just reported a Citizen Wells article on Attack Watch.
Feel free to follow.
As far as Perry goes,
I agree with his use of Ponzi scheme description of Social Security, although Medicare is the same thing based on the same Ponzi structure. Financial and Economic analysts have being saying this for over 40 years, only to fall on deaf ears.
I am however disappointed when Perry said: “We must consider reforms to make Social Security financially viable” in his news opt, but he doesn’t say what kind of reforms?
Maybe he will soon. I will give time to explain. For now, it is no different that Obama’s blank job speech. Need to change, need to commit, need to do differently, but no plan of explaining how.
I disagree with Perry on many things, including his past. I am however willing to listen and will be watching him closely with suspicion. I am not convinced at this time. Will he be a Coward as well? I don’t know at this time.

Conservatives don’t care what demRats think of Gov Perry beyond the fact that BS posts smearing him show how desperately afraid the demRats are of Gov Perry.
Everytime the demRats post a smear of Gov Perry, Conservatives become more conviced that Gov Perry is the best choice for the Republican Nomination.
What Conservatives do care about is what Conservative Champions like Rush Limbaugh think of Gov. Perry.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_083111/content/01125111.guest.html
RUSH: They’re scared of Perry. They are scared to death of Perry. They’re petrified of Perry. They’ll always tell us who they fear. They’re not worried about Romney. They think they can beat Romney. They also think that they can scare Romney into being a little bit more compliant and less combative with Obama. I don’t think they think that about Perry. I think they are very much concerned about Perry, just as they are very much concerned about Sarah Palin. That’s what they’re telling us here.
RUSH: Your buddy Stephanopoulos, transparent as he can be if he’s sidling up to Romney right now. Your interpretation that’s right on the money, you know exactly what that’s about.
CALLER: The images, the guns and the, “Move to California if you support gay marriage,” and all the other things that, you know, Georgie put on last night was just amazing how much he loves Mitt now.
RUSH: Well, they’ve got the same hair. You know, Romney and Perry have the same hair.
CALLER: They’re truly showing who’s really gonna scare ‘em.
RUSH: I think so. I think so. Since you say you’re watching “Georgie,” I haven’t watched a network nightly newscast I can’t tell you how long. It’s been years since I actually saw one. So I have to listen to your report to find out what happened. I didn’t know. I’m not afraid to admit this. I did not know that Stephanopoulos, all of a sudden, fell in love with Mitt Romney, but it doesn’t surprise me. It makes total sense. It’s totally understandable, given who they’re really afraid of out there.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_051811/content/01125109.guest.html
RUSH: Now, Rick Perry used to be soft on immigration, now he’s not. There’s no way you’re gonna hear Rick Perry supporting amnesty in any way, shape, manner, or form. He’s solid on that, plus pro-life. Rick Perry stands in opposition to inside the Beltway Washington elites, I don’t care what party they are.

LIMBAUGH: If Social Security Isn’t A Ponzi Scheme Then What Is It?
Limbaugh: “I Want To Applaud” Perry’s Claim That Social Security Is A Ponzi Scheme
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_081511/content/01125114.guest.html
PERRY: What makes our nation exceptional is that anyone, from any background, can climb to the highest of heights. As Americans, we don’t see the role of government as guaranteeing outcomes, but allowing free men and women to flourish based on their own vision, their hard work, and their personal responsibility. We reject this president’s unbridled fixation on taking more money out of wallets and pocketbooks of American families and employers and given it to a central government. Spreading the wealth punishes success while setting America on course for greater dependency on government.
RUSH: And here he hammers Obama on the recovery.
PERRY: Now we’re told we’re in recovery. (laughter) Yeah. But this sure doesn’t feel like a recovery to more than 9% of the Americans out there who are unemployed. Or the 16% of the African-Americans, 11% of the Hispanics in the same position, or the millions who can only find part-time work, or those who have even stopped looking for a job. One in six work-eligible Americans cannot find a full-time job. That is not a recovery; that is an economic disaster.
RUSH: Right on. Right on. Right on. Now, we edited the applause. The applause went on and on and on. We edited it of course for brevity.
PERRY: For nearly three years President Obama has been downgrading American jobs; he’s been downgrading our standing in the world; he’s been downgrading our financial stability; he’s been downgrading our confidence, and downgrading the hope for a better future for our children. That’s a fact. It’s time to get America working again. (applause) So get our citizens working in good jobs and getting the government to working for the people again. You know, page one of any economic plan to get America working is to give a pink slip to the current residents in the White House.
RUSH: Right on, right on, right on, right on. Here’s the final bite that we have.
PERRY: America is not broken; Washington, DC, is broken. (applause)
RUSH: Right on, right on.
PERRY: I will not sit back and accept the path that America is on, because a great country requires a better direction; because a renewed nation —
RUSH: Right on
the most important information should be directed at discovering what it is that Obama and his puppet master have been up to. Anybody notice egypt yesterday?
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_062011/content/01125107.guest.html
Rush:…comments by Rick Perry, and we have edited the applause. It was substantial. But we’ve edited the applause in the interests of time.
GOV. PERRY: We need to stop apologizing for celebrating life.
RUSH: Right on.
GOV. PERRY: We need to stop apologizing –
RUSH: Right on.
GOV. PERRY: — for wanting to protect an individual’s right to build a business.
RUSH: Right on.
GOV. PERRY: We need to stop apologizing about stemming the tide of entitlement mind-set that’s out there. We ought to be proud of our efforts to give local parents and communities a say on how their children are educated, protecting that fundamental right of private property ownership. Our party cannot be all things to all people. It can’t be. And our loudest opponents on the left are never gonna like us so let’s quit trying to curry favor with ‘em!
AUDIENCE: (applause)
RUSH: Right on!
GOV. PERRY: Let’s speak with pride about our morals and our values and redouble our effort to elect more conservative Republicans. Let’s stop this American downward spiral!
AUDIENCE: (applause)
RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, you know what? I now know how you feel when you’re listening to me. I now know how you applaud it. I now know how you get all revved up when you’re listening to me. Damn straight. Finally! Why in the world do we apologize? This comes from this defensive position that you always end up in when you accept somebody else’s premise in an argument. He’s exactly right: Why apologize at all for celebrating life? Stop apologizing for wanting to protect an individual’s right to build a business? Of course, the MSNBC story: “Rick Perry delivered an unapologetically socially conservative speech,” as though he’s supposed to apologize. I just love this bite. We have this one and…let me see… a couple more. And again we’ve edited the applause just in the interests of time.
GOV. PERRY: This administration in Washington that’s in power now clearly believes that government is not only the answer to every need, but it’s the most qualified to make essential decisions for every American in every area. That mix of arrogance and audacity that guides the Obama administration is an affront to every freedom loving American and a threat to every private sector job in this country.
AUDIENCE: (applause and cheers)
RUSH: All right. So he’s out there articulating the truth, he’s getting stupendous applause and yet, “Nah-nah-nah can’t have Rick Perry. He’s from Texas. He’s too close to Bush. We don’t want anybody from Texas! Bush is from Texas. We hate Texas — or not ‘we,’ but the voters. The voters don’t want anybody else from Texas.” This is the message from the elites, the inside-the-Beltway geniuses who like to tell us what we will and what we won’t vote for or who we will and won’t vote for. I think Perry understands who we are. We have a choice. We have a decision to make as Americans.
GOV. PERRY: Will history view us as the generation of Americans that kinda collectively shrugged their shoulders and said, “I guess there’s nothing that I can do? Will we just watch our nation continue this slow backwards slide? Will future generations of Americans living a life without any direction or decision that’s not made by some bureaucrat wonder: “Why didn’t somebody do something?” I’ve got more confidence in America’s energy and character. I totally believe it’s time to reconnect with the greatest attributes of our nation, to regain that resiliant spirit and recapture that love of freedom, remembering its true price. We’re all facing the same challenges in America. I stand before you today a disciplined conservative Texan — a committed Republican and a proud American — united with you in the desire to restore our nation and revive the American dream.
AUDIENCE: (applause)
RUSH: Right on, right on. Again, we edited the applause there. Now, this is not sitting well with the Drive-Bys and the State-Controlled Media.

Texas Governor and Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry will be in Virginia today at a GOP fundraiser in Richmond with Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. The two governors have worked closely together in the past, although McDonnell has not yet endorsed anyone in the race. Reid Wilson, editor-in-chief of National Journal Hotline, talks with WAMU Morning Edition host Matt McCleskey about what the visit means in terms of the presidential race.
WAMU: Why would Governor Perry take time away from early primary states to visit Virginia?
Reid Wilson: Perry is visiting a number of different states. He’s got a lot of work to do to introduce himself to voters all around the country, not just in New Hampshire, Iowa, and South Carolina.
In addition, he’s wooing governors from across the country. He was just endorsed yesterday by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, and getting the endorsement of somebody like Bob McDonnell would be a big boost to his campaign.
WAMU: The two governors have worked together in the past at the Republican Governors Association. What can you tell us about their relationship?
RW: I’ve seen them interact a few times, and they seem very jovial, very friendly. For example, on of Rick Perry’s big selling points is that Texas has been a repository for jobs. He’s been able to recruit businesses away from other states to Texas’s better business climate. Rick Perry likes to say that Texas is number one in taking jobs from other states, and Virginia is number two, and I think they like having that sort of friendly rivalry. In addition, there seems to be a sort of band of brothers among Republican governors.
WAMU: McDonnell’s name has been floated as a possible running mate for Perry as well as some of the other Republican candidates. How likely a choice is he for the vice presidential nominee?
RW: That makes a lot of sense. As we talk about the national electoral map, we’re no longer talking about Ohio, Missouri, and other rust belt states. We’re now talking about places like Virginia and North Carolina, places that Obama won in 2008, and needs to win in 2012.
If the vice president nomination has anything to do with how people vote, Virginia’s a great place for a vice president to come from. In a new poll released this morning from Quinnipiac University, Bob McDonnell’s approval rating is at 61 percent. If Rick Perry decides his main goal has to be winning Virgnia, he could do a lot worse than picking Bob McDonnell.
WAMU: How important a role do you see Virginia playing in the general election?
RW: Virginia’s a hugely important battleground state. Virginia is a state that both President Obama and the eventual Republican nominee will fight over. It’s been traditionally Republican leaning, but with the growth of the Northern Virginia suburbs giving it more of the Democratic flavor, Democrats can win the state. And they need it to win the presidency in 2012, especially given how President Obama’s approval ratings are falling in other parts of the country.

Yes I’ve had problems with Orly’s sites as well. I don’t think that she has very good anti-virus and anti-spyware protection so the boHillary demRats are constantly infecting her sites.
Mitt and Ron both have been given over 2 years worth of information proving Obama and camp has committed the largest fraud ever in the history of our Country. Their individual responses (and a few other republicans) over the same time-line was truly telling. Rather than acting within their constitutional authority and ousting Obama – or at the least demands his records for resolution – they chose to call their own constituents in public, Lunatics, Morons, Retarded, Anti-Americans, Sociopaths, Psychotic, Uneducated, Stupid, Ridiculous, Conspiracy theorists, and much more.
With over 55% of hard care Conservative Republican voters – those name called above – wishing to capture 100% of voting base, it becomes strategically impossible to win such a base, without first addressing and correcting it. How will Perry do this? He must and has no choice but to address it if he plans on winning. Is this why he is willing to meet with Orly? One can only hope so.
It is not a matter of “if” Perry will be asked by the Media in the near future about birthers, it is only a matter of when. Perry’s answer will be critical to the same voters his wishes to capture their votes.
Mitt and Ron blew it. Let’s hope Perry doesn’t coward out and make the same mistake. 55% is a hell of a lot of voters to piss off and can kiss his running chances goodbye with the wrong answer.
I fully expect Gov Perry to pick a Hispanic VP but I can see why he is trying to bolster his strong support among Governors. There are Republican Governors is alot of States with alot of Electoral Votes. If Perry gets the endorsement of all or most the Republican Governors he will quickly knock romney out of the race and go on to a Landslide victory against boHillary.
I made the statement above about giving Perry the chance to answer. I have not conducted any research on Perry as of yet to verify whether or not as the Texas Gov. he already made a stance either for or against birthers making up 55% of his future voting prospects. I don’t know at this time if he has already made past negative or positive comments on this issue. As time moves forward, I’m confident if any made, they will certain come out in public view.

Perry.
Why should we care about Rush thinks? We have our own minds….Rush is right sometimes, Rush is wrong sometimes.
Rush: Bob Turner, the WINNER in the defeat of boHillary in NY, produced my 1993 TV Show.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/ny-9-oh-yes-obama-has-a-jewish-problem/2011/03/29/gIQAxAEhRK_blog.html
In the end, it wasn’t even close. In a 58 percent Democratic congressional district, the most Jewish congressional district in the country and one that has not voted for a Republican representative since 1922, Republican political newcomer Bob Turner creamed Democrat David Weprin 54 percent to 46 percent in the special election in New York’s 9th Congressional District. Former New York mayor Ed Koch had called the election a referendum on President Obama’s Israel policy.
Rush: mitt romney, the American People don’t want to hear how you are going to Washington to work with demRats!

Rush: The American People don’t ObamneyCare!
It is important in this day and age to formulate your opinions amongst a vast array of conservative thinkers. Don’t be sheeple.
Recently having read some information about the way Romney’s faith considers the role of its adherents in government, I have to say that I can never vote for him. His faith is much more involved when it comes to how he considers himself in the high office of President, and I find it very hard to accept such at this point.
Rush: Make every election a referendum on boHillary.
Cabby. Although I’m not a Romney supporter, I support Herman Cain (as you know ), one could read the same thing into the Catholic religion. I’m a Catholic, as you know, and I’ve read many cases of politicians being denied the Eucharist because of their stance on abortion. Different than what you are saying, but similar.
In addition, Romney doesn’t appear to be a rigid idealogue on any issue. Why start with his religion? His squishy approach is one of the reasons I don’t support him in the primaries, but will in the general election if he wins.
Furthermore,
It will be interesting for Perry to answer to the media and Conseratives his past bills and newly founded “Epiphany” moments now running for office of President. All (true) Conservatives will be watching. I am confident that some newly declared republican ticket holders which were lifetime Liberal Socialists, will be watching as well..
How will Perry defend his position on the Texas Dream Act, allowing and supporting illegal Aliens Amnesty into schools at the taxpayers dime whilst sucking up federal funds to also support it? Then, claim when wishing to garnish Republican Conservative votes for office of President a short time later, declare he is against Amnesty and taxpayers paying for illegals as that “Promotes illegal actives” and not the financial role of taxpayers?
A Perry spokeswoman positioned the Texas governor as “reformed” on immigration.
“The governor is strongly opposed to amnesty since it rewards illegal behavior and penalizes legal immigrants seeking citizenship,” she said. “Gov. Perry believes the border must be secure before America considers immigration reform.”
Why the 180 switch? That’s what I want to know and a complete explanation. I voted for it, before I voted against it…Kerry? It was critical for his office of Gov. in Texas, to vote in favor of illegals at U.S. taxpayers expense. Does that mean he is an oath of office follower of the Constitution so long as it benefits him for an office of political power?
Or is his spokesperson correct? That Perry (all of a sudden and said gee-wizz) this is wrong, I’m changing sides? What caused that “changing sides” to begin with, and if so true, why wasn’t Perry as the Gov. informed by his legal staff and the State AG on such a bill to begin with? He was… And made “His” choice, for political reasons.
Who knows… what other flip flops directly lay ahead. Muslim Islamic sensitivity indoctrination of U.S. teachers to Texas School children mandatory classes next? Opps. he already did that one too. Now is against it.
Talk about learning on the ‘Fly”, or seriously willing to change everything in his past to benefit election to the Presidency. But, didn’t we already get that one? His name was Obama.
Are liberal Socialists getting an Obama disguised in Republican clothes, and that’s why so called “Reformed” liberals are for Perry and pushing hard for his election? True Conservatives and Constitutionalists may not be buying it long term.
Time will tell.

SALT LAKE CITY — While Mitt Romney condemns polygamy and its prior practice by his Mormon church, the Republican presidential candidate’s great-grandfather had five wives and at least one of his great-great grandfathers had 12.
Polygamy was not just a historical footnote, but a prominent element in the family tree of the former Massachusetts governor now seeking to become the first Mormon president.
Romney’s great-grandfather, Miles Park Romney, married his fifth wife in 1897. That was more than six years after Mormon leaders banned polygamy and more than three decades after a federal law barred the practice

Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, said convicts “cut off his head, spill his blood on the ground…”, and in the church’s April 6, 1843 general conference, Smith said he would “wring a thief’s neck off if I can find him. if I cannot bring him to justice any other way.” Sidney Rigdon, Smith’s counselor in the First Presidency, also supported capital punishment involving the spilling of blood, stating, “There are men standing in your midst that you cant do anything with them but cut their throat & bury them.”
Brigham Young, Smith’s successor in the LDS Church, held views on capital punishment similar to those of Smith. Young said, ” a man is found to be a thief,…cut his throat & thro’ [sic] him in the River”.
Young also stated that decapitation of repeated sinners “is the law of God & it shall be executed”.
In the Salt Lake Valley, Young acted as the executive authority while the Council of Fifty acted as a legislature. One of his main concerns in the early Mormon settlement was theft, and he swore that “a thief [sic] should not live in the Valley, for he would cut off their heads or be the means of haveing [sic] it done as the Lord lived.” A Mormon listening to one of Young’s sermons in 1849 recorded that he said “if any one was catched [sic] stealing to shoot them dead on the spot and they should not be hurt for it.”
Paxson, I agree that Mormonism is NOT a cult of hate, contrary to another’s posting here. The only reason I commented the way I did (BTW I’ve had Mormon friends and neighbors – a good relationship) is because there is far more to the core belief than many realize and I did not previously know. It has nothing to do with multiple wives or massacres of the past. (I also have good friends who are Catholic, including you. 🙂
What it does have to do with is the prophetic role that aspirants for political office seem to have if they are devout in their faith. That can vary among different people. Let’s just say that their worldview is much more centered on the destiny which they feel they have been assigned to by divine providence. It also involves to a great extent the role of Israel and how they feel they (Mormons) are related in past history. It goes way beyond the individual faith of the candidate. Christians, who are not Mormons, do not carry this type of historical baggage.
No surprise the boHillary demRats are defending romney’s membership in a Cult of HATE considering the demRats have been defending boHillary’s muslimism for 3 years.

Paxson, I agree that digging up background like that is abhorrent, and should be repudiated. Those things have nothing to do with Candidate Romney.
I like Romney and Perry.
mitt romney did not choose the cult of mormonism. That cult of hate was cast upon romney by his misogynist ForeFathers, but romney has made a decision to practice a Cult of Hate.
Cabby. I don’t pretend to know Mormonism inside and out and understand that there are some aspects that on paper should very considered. I am just saying that from watching Romney for the better part of a decade, he seems more pragmatic than that.
Also, I didn’t take your initial post to be a slam on all Mormons. You have a higher intellect than that. My mother in law holds your views.
I would like to mention that this same mother in law is very active in Republican politics in Iowa and that Herman Cain is trending a lot better there than any media will give him credit for.
Good things come to those that wait 🙂
commercial for “attack watch” on youtube
Herman Cain is a sleeper candidate. This primary process is really just beginning. People like us pay attention, but many wait unti the end to finally decide. Now we vet, see what kind of pressure that the candidate can handle. Is their skin too thin? Etc
Romney gave O’Reilly a great interview last night and basically said that criticism is part of the process. The old saying ” if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen” comes to mind.
From reading this blog, it appears to me that Perry and his supporters have very thin skin. What will happen when the real pressure starts?

Once again, with these sorts of attacks he proves himself to be rat. He does a wonderful job role playing a nutso “right winger”. That’s what he gets paid for, prolly outta some Soros funds. He IS the turd in this punchbowl. Before he became an alleged conservative he was a demRat activist. An attack on Romney for being Mormon, or referring to Palin or Bachman as racists is right outta the DNC playbook.
romney will never get the support of True Christians and that is why he will NOT win the Republican Nomination.
True Christians will not vote for a cultist like romney no matter how many times he Flip-Flops on Abortion, ObamneyCare, Illegal Immigration and Government Mandates.

Herman Cain is the real deal. He’s the guy the dems want to make damn sure doesn’t get traction. They fear him the most as he would be the guy who could neutralize the race card.

Rush: The way romney phrases the need for Government Mandates is hard to ignore.
Rush clearly does not like romney at all.
Indy. I know first hand that in the Iowa Straw poll that went to Bachmann that Cain would have done much better if she weren’t in the race. I don’t dislike Bachmann, but IN MY OPINION, she hasn’t performed well on the big stage.
Also Indy, remember the old fable about the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the race. It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. We just need to keep chipping away through incremental gains and maybe in the end Cain will be the guy.
Herman Cain has the “likability factor” as well. This is something that you can’t measure and not everyone has it.
The Republican Debates would be far better if only Cain, Gingrich, romney and Perry were allowed to participate. Cain, Gingrich and Perry are the only candidates that provide meaningful intelligent discussion of the issues.
I have just read some very disturbing reports about Perry. Unfortunately, if these reports are correct, he may not be able to go the distance.

If Perry has to drop out of the race, I would not be surprised if Jeb Bush jumps in.
As a person with back problems, I can state first hand that these episodes come and go. Back pain isn’t going to keep Perry from going the distance.

In my decades of practicing law I represented many people who suffered from debilitating back injuries.
Many of my friends and family members have treated many people who suffered from debilitating back injuries.
Furthermore unlike the boHillary demRat LIAR paxson, I have truly suffered from debilitating back pain.
I spent 5 weeks in bed with back pain so severe that I could not get out of bed and I had no feeling in my left leg which made it impossible for me to walk even if I had been able to overcome the EXCURCIATING PAIN!
The LYING demRat paxson is FOS!
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0911/63354.html
The big question mark for me is Perry’s health. Tonight was one of those rare moments when the camera didn’t love him. He has plenty of time to get back on his game, assuming that his physical condition holds up. But I am beginning to wonder whether he will have the stamina to hold up to the demands of a grueling campaign if his back is injured. For now, that’s just as big a threat as Romney is.
I do not know of a single case where anyone undergoing back surgery has fully recovered let alone an experimental surgery like Perry had. In most cases, their back pain got worse after surgery.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/la-heb-rick-perry-stem-cell-back-surgery-20110819,0,6363897.story?track=rss
On Friday, an Associated Press report collected a few of their comments:
Dr. George Muschler, an orthopedic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic, said that fat-derived stem cells were “‘an unusual choice…quite controversial because there isn’t good evidence yet, at least in the medical literature, that fat cells work better or even work at all in repairing bones.’”
Dr. Thomas Einhorn, orthopedics chairman at Boston University, said he was concerned that the procedure used to grow Perry’s cells could lead to cancer cells, blood clots or infections.
Dr. George Q. Daley, a past president of the International Society for Stem Cell Research, worried that the governor might be setting the wrong example for ailing patients. “’As a highly influential person of power, Perry’s actions have the unfortunate potential to push desperate patients into the clinics of quacks,’ who are selling unproven treatments ‘for everything from Alzheimer’s to autism,'” he said.
Worries about quackery are widespread among stem cell researchers. Speaking with the Los Angeles Times earlier this year, stem cell researcher Dr. Christine Mummery of the Leiden University Medical Center, in Leiden, Netherlands, said that she gets “desperate questions” from patients, some of whom consider spending tens of thousands of dollars for unproven therapies.
The best case scenario is that “nothing happens,” she said. The worst case is that the patients die from their treatments. “The hype is so huge, everyone’s looking at it as a solution for everything,” she added.
Whether stem cells derived from fat will be the solution for Perry remains to be seen.

According to the Daily Caller, the former Republican Governor and younger brother of President George W. Bush can beat Obama easily

John J. Miller has a cover story in the new issue of National Review that’s a compelling portrait of the accomplishments of Jeb Bush. Four years after leaving the Florida governor’s mansion, he remains one of the most impressive Republican politicians in the country, a formidable policy mind with the political chops to drive conservative reforms even out of office. So why isn’t he running for president? Bush told Miller what he’s said to others, too — he won’t run in 2012, but he’ll consider 2016. This is a mistake. Bush should run now for at least eight reasons:
Jeb can unite the party. Jeb probably has a better chance to unite the establishment and Tea Party wings of the GOP than anyone else, certainly a better chance than Sarah Palin or Mitt Romney would seem to have at this juncture. The establishment would presumably flock to Jeb, while he’d have a record of solid conservative accomplishment to sell to the conservative base.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0911/63526.html
RICHMOND, Va. – Rick Perry criticized Michele Bachmann Wednesday for relaying the story of a woman who claimed her daughter became mentally retarded after being vaccinated against HPV.
“I think that was a statement that had no truth in it, no basis in fact,” Perry said of the comments Bachmann made in a TV interview following the CNN/Tea Party Express debate.
Perry, speaking to reporters after a fundraiser here for the Virginia Republican Party, reiterated that he had made a mistake in 2007 when he issued the order.
“We should have had an opt-in instead of an opt-out,” he said.
Speaking to a sold-out convention hall of about 1,100 Republicans, Perry focused his remarks on his gubernatorial record and President Obama, only obliquely mentioning his GOP rivals.
“We don’t need to elect a nominee who’s going to blur lines between this administration and the Republican Party,” said the Texan. “We need a nominee who draws a distinct and a clear contrast. And I will tell you one thing, President Obama and I have a clear contrast.”
Asked if the event if he had Mitt Romney in mind, Perry was glad to reprise his critique of the former Massachusetts governor.
“Let’s face it: Michael Dukakis created jobs at three times the rate annually than what Mitt did when he was governor,” said the Texan.
OMG, FS is now pushing Jeb Bush?! AYFKM?! Yeah, what could be better for barry than having a bush to run against? Hey FS, clownie, what happened to all the furious Perry Pom Pom waving? I guess Perry isn’t bushie enough for you dems!
Rick Perry or Jeb Bush can beat boHillary, romney can not. It is as simple as that. If Gov Perry is debilitated by his excurciating back pain, then the Republicans need a viable alternative like Gov Bush. romney is another bo and he can not beat boHillary.

“It’s fine to criticize him, that’s politics,” said Bush, the younger brother of former President George W. Bush, who again reiterated that he won’t run for president himself. “But just to stop there isn’t enough. You have to win with ideas, you have to win with policies. … He’s made a situation that was bad worse. He’s deserving of criticism for that.”
“If you’re a conservative, you have to persuade. You can’t just be against the president,” he added.

What do you have against Gov Bush. He was a Conservative Governor who is still very popular across a wide spectrum of the Republican Base. His candidacy would insure a win in Florida, Texas etc.
CW….
Thanks so much for “Tommy”…
As an “old soldier of the line”, I came to appreciate Rudyard Kipling with each passing year i served. He knew where the soldier’s heart lay, but he also knew the abuse which were heaped upon those who face the “dangers of war” on a daily schedule in the name of the queen and flag.
p.s. sorry I have been out of the blog for the past few days…the wife and I were involved in an automobile accident while visiting M. Beach…the wife was OK with only a few cuts and scrapes, but I had some deep tearing of my chest muscles that will stay with me for a while. Nothing broken thought, Thank god. Nevertheless, I will be online for a short period each day to get the only real news there is.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CW…IT MEANS A LOT TO ALL OF US WHO REALLY CARE FOR THE DIRECTION THIS COUNTRY IS TAKING.
Our Country can not survive 4 more years of the boHillary regime. The Republicans have a great opportunity to defeat boHillary in 2012, it must not be wasted on a Candidate who may not be able to go the distance.
I defer to my Wife’s Professional Judgment on Medical Issues and she thinks it was ill-advised for Perry to have experimental back surgery on July 1 and then attempt to wage a Presidential Campaign in less than a month.
Let’s be honest. If Perry’s pain was so bad that he felt the need for surgery, then it is foolish to think that he can recover from that surgery in less than a month. Neither my Wife or I know of a single case where back surgery was successful in preventing back pain long term. Yes, back surgery is necessary in cases of paralysis or nerve impingement where there is no other option. But again, we know of no cases where back surgery has cured back pain long term. After a long recovery process (far more than 1 month) patients may have short term relief from back pain but the back pain invariably recurs to some extent and more often than not the pain is worse as a result of scar tissue.
I pray that Gov Perry has a full recovery, but I doubt that he will be able to hold up to the rigors of a Presidential Campaign.

Rminnc, SO sorry to hear of your unfortunate auto accident but very grateful that neither of you had life-threatening injuries. However, any damage to the muscles can be very painful. You will need to rest a lot and give the bod time to heal. Take care! We’ve been missing you.
Free Speech, I agree with you about the effects of back surgery. I wasn’t aware that Perry had had it just in July. The particular procedure doesn’t sound too good to me either – apparently very experimental.
I had a friend visit me in the summer who had more conventional back surgery in Jan. and he is still having trouble. In fact, he has since had to have a hip replacement. Sometimes one thing leads to another. One has to allow as much as six months to a year to recover from bone and joint surgery. Ask me. (I have never had back surgery, however.) I am sorry to hear about Perry’s situation.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry received an injection of his own stem cells during spinal fusion surgery last month and wants his state to be a leader in the use of adult stem cells in medical treatment.
But using a concentrated mixture of adult stem cells to fuse bone hasn’t been tested in any major U.S. trials, raising questions of whether a governor (and reportedly a potential Republican presidential candidate) should be advocating an unproven medical procedure.
Perry and a state representative who has multiple sclerosis championed a healthcare bill that created an adult stem cell bank in Texas. A month after Perry signed that bill into law, his friend, Stanley Jones, MD, a Houston-based orthopedist, performed spinal fusion surgery on the governor using Perry’s own stem cells to treat a recurring spinal injury, according to an article in the Texas Tribune.
There have not been any phase III clinical trials that tested the utility and safety of stem cell spinal fusion procedures, nor have there been any published trials of the procedure in the U.S.
Bryon Petersen, PhD, a stem cell researcher at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, N.C., said that culturing cells in a lab for a long period of time could potentially have a “deleterious” effect on the cells and transform them into potentially cancer-causing cells. Those cells must be carefully weeded out before being injected into a patient, he said in an email to MedPage Today and ABC News.
George Daley, MD, PhD, a professor of biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard Medical School, pointed to the dearth of evidence on the value of injecting mesenchymal stem cells, and said he worries that the procedure is being done based on anecdotes or observational trials.
“I suspect that what is going on here is part of the world-wide rush to commercialize stem cells prematurely, to capitalize on the hype and [make] a buck, long before the treatments have been proven safe and effective,” Daley said in an email.
Richard Fessler, MD, professor of neurological surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, echoed Daley’s sentiments.
“Although this is a promising technology for the future, at this point there is minimal evidence that it is effective in humans,” he said in an email.
Jonathan Moreno, PhD, professor of biomedical ethics at the University of Pennsylvania, was harsher in his assessment:
“The medical claims being made for this ‘treatment’ are nonsense,” he said, also in an email.
Moreno dismissed the science of the procedure, but said the political ramifications of the Perry situation are especially interesting: “Namely, how talk of a stem cell industry in Texas would cause anxiety among cultural conservatives that such an effort could involve more controversial forms of research, like embryonic stem cells,” he said.
Adult stem cells are not the same as embryonic stem cells. Perry — and many conservatives — oppose using cells from human embryos for research.
Daley pointed to another political issue: A governor using his power to promote a procedure that hasn’t been proven.
“It’s sad when someone in such a powerful position like the governor of a major state can act without the benefit of evidence-based medicine,” he said.

Indy and Paxson, I have liked Cain from the very beginning and have heard him on a number of TV programs. To me he is the real deal. He is very comfortable in his own skin and doesn’t have to make flashes in the pan to get his message across. I would hope that he could gain some public traction. So many of the others just suck the oxygen out of the air.
“Steady – forward” should be our motto when it comes to Cain. I hope he can hold out long enough for his message to fully resonate.
Paxson, thanks for being understanding and tolerant of my view re. Romley. I guess we should hear more from him along the lines of which I spoke. Certainly no harm was meant in my post – Those were just some thoughts that have been bothering me.

Yes, this is a very sad development but all We Conservatives can do is look for a silver lining and press on. If someone viable (NOT palin) jumps into the race now, I would support their candidacy 100%.
I didn’t read that he had surgery. That is a different story. Also, I’m not sure how invasive that this stem cell surgical procedure was, so my opinion was mute. I have several herniated disks in my back and neck and have had multiple cortizone shots.
Setting the record straight, this is what was said by Ron Paul. Note: He was quoting what THEY stated as the reason, if they had said “we attacked because you have nicer bathrooms” he would have quoted THAT. I also find it strange the author (CW?) also brings up RP’s comment “I would be laughed out of congress” With what we’ve witnessed in the past 2.5yrs do you really doubt WHAT he stated as being true? Do you really believe the heavens would have opened up and his statement would change everyone’s mind in Washington? Furthermore, the author (CW) now has scruples? Are you serious? After most of us here have witnessed one person on this site deride, ridicule and accuse others of being “dem-rats, GAY RACISTS, and worse yet HOMO-PEDOPHILES” over and over until most are sick and have left, are you serious? Explanation please! Many of us are dumbfounded and deserve an explanation.
