Asteroid 2020SW explodes 16k miles above earth September 24, 2020?, Discovered Sept 18, Small garage size, Trajectory and composition could damage population area

“…and there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.” … Luke 21:25

This was reported first thing this AM at Citizen Wells.

Apparently due to other perceived greater news items, and some referring to this as a fly by, it is not getting the attention it derserves.

I am not a rocket scientist (I could have been one) but a asteroid this size coming within 16, 000 miles of earth sounds like a potential problem and not a fly by.

Based on what I know, with the right trajectory and composition, an asteroid this size could damage a population area.

Reported here earlier:

Asteroid 2020SW, discovered September 18, 2020 by the Center for Near Earth Object Studies of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is predicted to enter the earth’s atmosphere at a height of approx. 16,000 miles on September 24, 2020.

The object is approx. the size of a small garage.

“Newly Found Asteroid to Pass Within Moon’s Orbit on March 4, 2013”

“A newly found asteroid will pass just inside the orbit of the Moon, with its closest approach on March 4, 2013 at 07:35 UTC. Named 2013 EC, the asteroid is about the size of the space rock that exploded over Russia two and a half weeks ago, somewhere between 10-17 meters wide (the Russian meteorite is estimated to be about 15 meters wide when it entered Earth’s atmosphere). 2013 EC was discovered by the Mt. Lemmon Observatory in Arizona on March 2. . There is no chance this asteroid will hit Earth.

2013 EC will come within 396,000 kilometers from Earth, (246,000 miles, or around 1.0 lunar distances, 0.0026 AU.

The Moon’s distance from the Earth varies between 363,104 km (225,622 miles) at perigee (closest) and 406,696 km (252,088 miles) at apogee (most distant point).

Gianluca Masi from the Virtual Telescope Project had a live view of the asteroid when it was about twice the distance of the Moon, and a replay of that webcast is available below.”

Asteroid 2012 DA14 dislodged with meteoroids plausible answer, Russian Cuban Californian meteors similar trajectories, Asteroid families orbits, Unrelated?

Asteroid 2012 DA14 dislodged with meteoroids plausible answer, Russian Cuban Californian meteors similar trajectories, Asteroid families orbits, Unrelated?

“An asteroid group is a collection of asteroids that move in generally similar orbits. Within a group there may be one or more families of asteroids whose orbital characteristics are so much alike that they almost certainly came from the breakup of a single parent body.”…The Encyclopedia of Science

“Unrelated: 1 not connected to a subject that you are thinking about or discussing 2 not part of the same family”…MacMillan Dictionary

Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

I have read the reports, many misquoting NASA, of the meteors over Russia, Cuba and California being unrelated to the near earth Asteroid 2012 DA14. It appears that we are getting the same hasty unreliable reporting from the media as usual and possible ass protecting from NASA.

Near earth Asteroid 2012 DA14 was only discovered about a year ago. Smaller objects dislodged from the asteroid belt at the same time would not have been detected. Indeed, was anyone warned ahead of time about the meteors that just struck?

We know for a fact that asteroids sometimes travel in “families” of pieces that are the result of collisions. These fragments travel in similar orbits. The collision or catalyst responsible for dislodging Asteroid 2012 DA14 could have caused fragmentation of that or a larger asteroid and that “family” could account for the recent meteor strikes.

Why is no one reporting this plausible explanation?

From the Mirror News February 16, 2013.

“Cosmic coincidence: Watch a SECOND meteor in the sky 6,000 miles from Russian space rock crash”

“This is ANOTHER meteor which exploded in the sky – just two hours before a space rock crash-landed in Russia injuring 1,000 people.

The fireball – reportedly followed by a loud explosion some minutes later – was spotted above Cuba at 1am GMT yesterday.

That’s 6,000 miles away from Chelyabinsk where a meteor left a 20ft crater and caused a devastating sonic boom at 3.20am GMT.

China’s Xinhua news agency reported the bright spot in the sky was spotted in the Cienfuegos area, in central Cuba.

One eyewitness said his house shook slightly in the blast and officials are scouring for any remnants of the object.

Some meteorites can be very valuable, selling for up to £433 per gram depending on their exact composition.

Scientists do not believe the space activity was linked to last night’s 150ft wide asteroid 2012 DA14, which passed within 17,000 miles last night.”

From Space.com February 16, 2013.

“Fireball Lights Up Northern California Skies”

“It’s really starting to look like the sky is falling.

According to media reports, a fireball streaked through the skies above California’s Bay Area Friday evening (Feb. 15), just hours after another bright meteor exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk and a 150-foot-wide (45 meters) asteroid gave Earth a historically close shave.

The Bay Area fireball blazed up around 7:45 p.m. local time Friday (10:45 p.m. EST; 0345 GMT Saturday), NBC Bay Area reported. The meteor apparently had a bluish tinge and was visible over a wide swath of the region, from Fairfield north of San Francisco Bay down to Gilroy, which is south of San Jose.”

According to NASA:

“Preliminary information is that this object was unrelated to asteroid 2012 DA14”

I would caution the use of the word “unrelated” in reference to the meteor.

From NASA February 15, 2013.

“Russia Meteor Not Linked to Asteroid Flyby”

“Update: February 15, 2013 7pm PST

New information provided by a worldwide network of sensors has allowed scientists to refine their estimates for the size of the object that entered that atmosphere and disintegrated in the skies over Chelyabinsk, Russia, at 7:20:26 p.m. PST, or 10:20:26 p.m. EST on Feb. 14 (3:20:26 UTC on Feb. 15).

The estimated size of the object, prior to entering Earth’s atmosphere, has been revised upward from 49 feet (15 meters) to 55 feet (17 meters), and its estimated mass has increased from 7,000 to 10,000 tons. Also, the estimate for energy released during the event has increased by 30 kilotons to nearly 500 kilotons of energy released. These new estimates were generated using new data that had been collected by five additional infrasound stations located around the world – the first recording of the event being in Alaska, over 6,500 kilometers away from Chelyabinsk. The infrasound data indicates that the event, from atmospheric entry to the meteor’s airborne disintegration took 32.5 seconds. The calculations using the infrasound data were performed by Peter Brown at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

“We would expect an event of this magnitude to occur once every 100 years on average,” said Paul Chodas of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. “When you have a fireball of this size we would expect a large number of meteorites to reach the surface and in this case there were probably some large ones.”

The trajectory of the Russia meteor was significantly different than the trajectory of the asteroid 2012 DA14, which hours later made its flyby of Earth, making it a completely unrelated object. The Russia meteor is the largest reported since 1908, when a meteor hit Tunguska, Siberia.

Preliminary information indicates that a meteor in Chelyabinsk, Russia, is not related to asteroid 2012 DA14, which is flying by Earth safely today.

The Russia meteor is the largest reported since 1908, when a meteor hit Tunguska, Siberia. The meteor entered the atmosphere at about 40,000 mph (18 kilometers per second). The impact time was 7:20:26 p.m. PST, or 10:20:26 p.m. EST on Feb. 14 (3:20:26 UTC on Feb. 15), and the energy released by the impact was in the hundreds of kilotons.

Based on the duration of the event, it was a very shallow entry. It was larger than the meteor over Indonesia on Oct. 8, 2009. Measurements are still coming in, and a more precise measure of the energy may be available later. The size of the object before hitting the atmosphere was about 49 feet (15 meters) and had a mass of about 7,000 tons.

The meteor, which was about one-third the diameter of asteroid 2012 DA14, was brighter than the sun. Its trail was visible for about 30 seconds, so it was a grazing impact through the atmosphere.

It is important to note that this estimate is preliminary, and may be revised as more data is obtained.”

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/asteroids/news/asteroid20130215.html

We know that asteroids can travel in “family” groups in the asteroid belt. This is believed to be the result of collisions that break up asteroids with the pieces continuing to travel in similar orbits.

“Several asteroids, including (243) Ida, (45) Eugenia, and (762) Pulcova, are known to have small moons of their own.”

“Collisions gave rise to the Hirayama families and at least some of the planet-crossing asteroids. Tiny fragments from the latter enter Earth’s atmosphere to become sporadic meteors, while larger pieces survive passage through the atmosphere to end up as meteorites. The very largest produce craters such as the Barringer Crater, and one may have been responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs.”

“An asteroid group is a collection of asteroids that move in generally similar orbits. Within a group there may be one or more families of asteroids whose orbital characteristics are so much alike that they almost certainly came from the breakup of a single parent body.”

http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/A/asteroid.html#groups

Whether or not this meteor was officially associated with the near earth asteroid, it is certainly plausible and could happen in the future.

If NASA had a clear understanding of the meteor and its trajectory, why wasn’t Russia warned?
