“Why This Feels Like A Depression For Most People”
“Everyone has seen the pictures of the unemployed waiting in soup lines during the Great Depression.When you try to tell a propaganda believing, willfully ignorant, mainstream media watching, math challenged consumer we are in the midst of a Greater Depression, they act as if you’ve lost your mind. They will immediately bluster about the 5.1% unemployment rate, record corporate profits, and stock market near all-time highs. The cognitive dissonance of these people is only exceeded by their inability to understand basic mathematical concepts.
The reason you don’t see huge lines of people waiting in soup lines during this Greater Depression is because the government has figured out how to disguise suffering through modern technology. During the height of the Great Depression in 1933, there were 12.8 million Americans unemployed. These were the men pictured in the soup lines. Today, there are 46 million Americans in an electronic soup kitchen line, as their food is distributed through EBT cards (with that angel of mercy JP Morgan reaping billions in profits by processing the transactions).
These 46 million people represent 14% of the U.S. population. There are 23 million households on food stamps in a nation of 123 million households. Therefore, 19% of all households in the U.S. are so poor, they require food assistance to survive. In 1933 there were approximately 126 million Americans living in 30 million households. The government didn’t keep official unemployment records until 1940, but the Department of Labor estimated 12.8 million people were unemployed during the worst year of the Great Depression or 24.9% of the labor force. By 1937 it had fallen to 14.3% or approximately 8 million people.
The number of people unemployed during the 1930’s is an excellent representation of the number of households on government assistance during the Great Depression because 79% of all households were occupied by married couples with 4 people per household versus 48% married couple households today with 2.5 people per household. The unemployment rate averaged 19% during the heart of the Great Depression. Therefore, approximately 19% of all the households in the U.S. needed government assistance to feed themselves. That happens to be the exact percentage of households currently needing food stamps to feed themselves.
We are now supposedly five years into an economic recovery. The unemployment rate, according to the government, has fallen from 10% to 5.1%. Maybe a comparison to the the Great Depression in 1937, five years after the worst of it, would reveal some truth. It is not easy to do an apples to apples comparison because very few women worked outside the home in 1937 and the average life expectancy in the 1930s was 60 years old. Today, the majority of women are theoretically in the work force and the average life expectancy is 78 years old. In 1937 only 5% of the population was over 65 years old versus 13% today.
There were approximately 55 million Americans in the labor force in 1937, according to the DOL, and approximately 47 million of them were employed. So 85% of the eligible work force was working. There was no BLS to massage, manipulate, seasonally adjust, or fake the data to make things appear better than they were in 1937. Edward Bernay’s Propaganda techniques and methodologies weren’t perfected for a few more years. According to Census information there were 52 million Americans between the ages of 18 and 44, along with another 21 million between the ages of 45 and 64 in 1937. So even considering that very few women worked and many people died by the age of 60, we had a workforce of 55 million out of an age eligible population of 73 million at a maximum. That yields a participation rate of 75%.
These facts reveal the utter falsity of the propaganda drenched duplicitous data dumped by the BLS on behalf of vested interests who have captured our government and have an agenda requiring the public to be kept in the dark regarding their own dire financial situation. No matter how you slice the data, it reveals an absolute parallel to the situation during the Great Depression. There are 251 million Americans of working age and only 149 million are employed, of which 20 million are part-time and 8 million are self employed. Only 59% of working age Americans actually work. The BLS has the cajones to declare that only 157 million of the 251 million working age Americans are actually in the labor force.
This outrageous assumption flies in the face of all reasonableness, facts, and truth. In 1937, even with women not working outside the home and very few people living past 65 years old, the participation rate was 75%. Today, with the majority of women capable and willing to work and older Americans working well into their 60s, the BLS actually expects a critical thinking person to believe the participation rate is only 62.4%, the lowest since 1977. It’s a pure and simple despicable lie. The true participation rate should exceed the rate in 1937, based on the facts. Using the 75% participation rate today, yields a true unemployment rate of 21%, not the preposterous 5.1% shoveled by the bullshit artists at the BLS. The 21% rate ties very closely to the figure arrived at by John Williams at Shadowstats. An unbiased assessment of the facts reveals unemployment numbers and people on government assistance numbers that match or exceed those of the Great Depression.”

I was born on a cold, snowy Feb morn in 1936 in the mountains of East Tennessee….America was still in bad shape that year….as I grew older and understood things better, I remember my Dad having to walk over 5 miles to get to his work in the morning (thank God he had a job)…my Mom fortunately had a job too at the weaving mill just up the street… but between the both of them, they were barely able to put food on our table come suppertime….we begged for nothing and worked for all we had.
Dad did not own the house we lived in, nor was he able to afford a family car…times were hard then….but at least my parents both had work…and the kids got good food….and God was in our house all the time……
Those were the important things in our life back in 1936,37,38,39,40,41,etc.
Somehow between then and now…..America has lost her moral compass and ability to focus on the important things in life. We have divided our society into the have’s…. and have-not’s,
….and those that have, do not worry themselves about those who have not…..
God is now being left out of both groups…..
You may be very correct in this post, and ‘Hard times’ could be just around the corner again!

Obama Administration Bans All Pork Products From Prison Menus

(CNSNews.com) – The federal Bureau of Prisons, a subdivision of President Barack Obama’s Justice Department, has banished all pork products from the menus in all federal prisons, according to a report in the Washington Post.
The government says it made the decision to do this because a survey showed that inmates do not like eating pork products.
The Council on American-Islamic relations said “we welcome” the move by the government to deny pork to prisoners, but warned that it might spark “Islamophobia.”
Here are excerpts from the report by the Post:
“The nation’s pork producers are in an uproar after the federal government abruptly removed bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pig products from the national menu for 206,000 federal inmates.
Eff the inmates. I have some great ideas for things they can eat.
Eff the Goat-effers too. Bacon suppositories for all.

………….in the 1930s rather “can you spare a five”, it was “Hey Buddy can you spare a DIME”?. In those days a dime would buy a donut and a cup of coffee. Even as I got older I still remember door to door beggars for food, and/or leftovers. Wasn’t pretty…………most of the beggars smelled bad, and had growths of beards, and hair that would shame a BILLY GOAT. A few even would play a song on whatever instrument they sometimes carried with them right on your FRONT PORCH. My mother used to give them leftovers from the ICEBOX. Sometimes they would do yard work, or even mow the grass, or shovel snow. One thing is certain…….anyone who has ever been in such a situation will probably NEVER FORGET, and he/she will today be a much smarter person for it.

My grandfather then was employed at McCall’s publishing in Dayton ,Ohio. He was an artist illustrator, and earned .75 cents per hour.

With this month’s start of fiscal year 2016, there will be no bacon, no pork chops, no pork roast, no pork sausage — no pork-related food at all — served to the nation’s 205,723 federal inmates, including those at FCI Fort Worth or FMC Carswell.
Inmates at Federal Bureau of Prison facilities no longer will be able to get bacon with their breakfasts.

…………perhaps a little English mutton would suffice………but an inmate would need a good set of choppers to even chew MUTTON. There is another possibility………they could feed the prisoners the belly meat of the steer…..otherwise known as TRIPE. During the depression in America many soup kitchens used TRIPE chopped finely throughout the soup. I heard that very few people ever complained. Of course when chopped fine they just didn’t know what they were eating anyway, and were too hungry to really care.
If the Bureau of Prisons completely forsakes pork it won’t be long until the military does the same, at which point the bottom will fall out of the pork belly market. Perhaps we will soon see a price of .25 cents a pound for pork products. Would be a real boon for pork eaters.

I have a different take. Since Obama’s main goal (above all else, including our national security) in this second term has been to deal (capitulate) with Iran, my gut feeling is that his post presidency affiliations will be with them. His goal has been to fund them and eventually arm them with nuclear capabilities. They are shia and enemy to the sunni Isis. A caliphate, yes, but not lead by the sunni.

This one isn’t all that much off-topic. Would value any input.
Due to the declining economy, we’ve all seen a decrease in home ownership. Many homes have been foreclosed on. . The bank then sells the house to a “property management company”, which promptly turns the house into a Section 8 rent house.
Here’s my thing: The house next door to me has been vacant since mid-2013. In the past 2-3 days, I’ve seen multiple contractors’ vehicles there. However, the “For Sale” sign does NOT have a “Sold” placard or “Section 8 Approved” on it. Does anyone know if there’s a way to find out whether the house has been/is being sold, is being turned into a rent house, etc.? Do I approach the contractors if I see them again? WIll they even know? Do I call the bank that currently owns the property? (Would they even be allowed by law to tell me?)
I have an uneasy feeling. Several houses in my neighborhood have gone Section 8, and EVERY ONE of them has occupants who trashed the houses within weeks, deal drugs right there on the porch or in the driveway, walk 3 or 4 abreast (blocking the entire street), and commit the vast majority of crimes in my city. I’ve personally observed these things.
I don’t give an airborne sex act about any particular group’s widdle feewings. I WILL NOT live next door to Section 8. Most people in my neighborhood say things like “Well, there’s nothing we can do”, “We have no choice in the matter”, and “The government is forcing us to accept this”. I say horsecrap. I have no desire to abandon my home of 16 years and everything I’ve worked for — but I will if I have to.

AFB…I think if you go to zillow.com and enter the address, you can see if the property is still for sale, recently sold or foreclosed. If a property is going to be auctioned, usually you can find that info at county records. I found records of properties to be auctioned but had to search for them. Can’t remember exactly how I got the info.
In Las Vegas, where they had record numbers of foreclosures, I do know that people made it their business to find these abandoned homes and took up residence. When the law arrived, they presented them with phony rental agreements. Usually the former owners were lone gone and the banks that held the mortgages were overwhelmed to take the necessary action. Most times, these people were prostitutes or drug dealers and they managed to “squat” in these homes for months and sometimes years.
It was only and until neighbors began complaining of all the activity going on all night long that these people were forced to leave.
I know very little about section 8 housing, but if there are several in your immediate area, I would not blame you for relocating. It will only be a matter of time before your property starts losing value.

The County Assessor’s website still shows the bank/mortgage company as the owner (the property was foreclosed on), so maybe the contractors are simply there to prepare the house for being shown and, eventually, sold — preferably to a nice older couple, or perhaps a young military family (this neighborhood is about 1-1/2 miles from an Air Force Base). I’m just uneasy, though, and my intuitions are rarely wrong. Think I’ll go over and say hello to the contractors if I see them there tomorrow, and just casually ask what they know.

If your payment with annual taxes, insurance and everything is $600.00…..you could conceivably rent it for $800.00 per mo. (difference is called billfold equity). If the house is a three bedroom, and in the right neighborhood it could even command more. With two adults working $ 800.00 would be a very reasonable rent for a three bed home…..particularly if it has a garage, and a decent lot etc. All tenants should pay own utilities. At least you would have some control over who you became your immediate neighbors. Now is a good time to take advantage of low interest loans some of which are guaranteed by the Veterans Administration. Thirty year fixed rate loans the last I saw was about 1.750 percent per annum. Not too shabby, and would allow you to collect about an 8% return.

………if a property is in good shape both inside and outside the cost of upkeep is pretty low………but a house DOES need ongoing upkeep as time passes…..which can become costly …..unless you can do at least some of it yourself. The more you can do the better off you are with respect to COST. If it has a vinyl or aluminum exterior it is a PLUS factor.
Being close to a military base is also a plus factor. I have read that housing allowance is offered in many specialties that are difficult for the military to come by. Medical specialists, and food service specialists are on the list.
Very often housing on the base is NOT SO GREAT!. Much of the time it needs maintenance, and sometimes even MAJOR REPAIRS……….which makes affordable, and quality housing nearby IN DEMAND.

One does not spend millions of dollars and expend thousands of hours in extensive and elaborate efforts to obscure the past unless that need was of greater value than the expense. One does not forge documents – crimes by the way which could ultimately land people in Federal Prison – if what is being hidden was of minor consequence.
For several years now, I have been on the band wagon of those who believed that Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen (NBC). This belief was inspired by and reinforced by the activities mentioned in the paragraph above and of course a true reading of the Constitution.
