Labor Secretary Perez on March employment numbers, Fact vs fiction, Solid and steady economic recovery?, Obamacare helping working families enjoy greater economic security?

“Over the last six months, of the net job creation, 97 percent of that is part-time work,”…Keith Hall, former BLS chief

“Nearly half of U.S. companies are reluctant to hire full-time employees because of the ACA. One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.

Other firms will shift toward part-time workers. More than 40 percent of CFOs say their companies will consider switching some jobs to less than 30 hours per week or targeting part-time workers for future employment.”…Duke University Fuqua School of Business December 11, 2013

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

The US Labor Dept. reported the March employment data on Friday April 4, 2014.

US Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez issued the following statement:

“Today’s report tells the story of a solid and steady economic recovery delivering more opportunity for more people. We saw 192,000 new jobs in the month of March, and the private sector has now created 8.9 million jobs over the last 49 consecutive months of employment growth. The unemployment rate held steady at 6.7 percent and is down from 7.5 percent a year ago.
“There is encouraging news across sectors. Health-care employment increased by 19,000 jobs. The average work week in manufacturing rebounded to 42.0 hours, tied for the highest mark since July 1945. Motor vehicle sales had their strongest month in seven years. At the height of the recession, there were six job seekers for every job available. Today, it’s two-and-a-half people competing for every open job.
“Without question, there is more still to do. On issues from infrastructure to immigration reform, from manufacturing to the minimum wage, there are steps Congress can take that will help more people punch their ticket to the middle class.
“For the 57th straight month (since the middle of 2009), at least one-third of jobless Americans have been unemployed for more than 27 weeks. So, priority number one must be for the House and Senate to extend emergency unemployment benefits that they irresponsibly allowed to expire more than three months ago, creating profound hardship for 2.3 million people. These benefits are a critical lifeline for job seekers struggling to get back on their feet; but they also act as a broader economic stimulus, putting money in people’s pockets and spurring consumer demand.
“The success of the Affordable Care Act is helping working families enjoy greater economic security, the peace of mind of knowing they won’t be wiped out by an injury or illness. The open enrollment period ended with 7.1 million people signing up for health coverage they didn’t have before. The ACA will help provide a shot in the arm to the economy, as people are free to start their own businesses and pursue entrepreneurial ventures now that their health insurance is no longer tied to their job.”

The “1984” analogy is obvious.

As most of you know, Obamacare is costing millions of Americans far more in healthcare premiums.

Despite the best linguistic efforts of Secretary Perez to put a positive spin on the impact of Obamacare, it is also impacting jobs.

DURHAM, N.C. — A significant percentage of U.S. chief financial officers indicate that because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), they may reduce employment growth at their firms and shift toward part-time workers.

A majority of finance chiefs also believe the full Social Security retirement age should be raised to help close the budget shortfall.

Despite these issues, underlying economic conditions are expected to improve in 2014 and, except in Europe, corporate charitable giving remains strong

These are some of the findings from the latest Duke University/CFO Magazine Global Business Outlook Survey, which concluded Dec. 5. The survey has been conducted for 71 consecutive quarters and spans the globe, making it the world’s longest running and most comprehensive research on senior finance executives. Presented results are for U.S. firms unless otherwise noted.

Nearly half of U.S. companies are reluctant to hire full-time employees because of the ACA.
One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.

Other firms will shift toward part-time workers. More than 40 percent of CFOs say their companies will consider switching some jobs to less than 30 hours per week or targeting part-time workers for future employment.”

From data provided by the US Labor Dept. we learn:

The Labor Force Participation Rate has dropped 2.5 percent since Obama took office in January 2009 and actually has dropped .1 percent the past year.

The number of people who could only find part time work has risen 1,055,000 since Obama took office and has risen 146,000 in the past year.

The only statement from Secretary Perez that reflects reality is:

“For the 57th straight month (since the middle of 2009), at least one-third of jobless Americans have been unemployed for more than 27 weeks.”

“The U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up a challenge to the National Security Agency’s telephone data surveillance program, rejecting a call to put the dispute on an unusual fast track.

The justices today turned away a petition by Larry Klayman, a legal activist who persuaded a federal trial judge to say the spying program probably violates constitutional privacy rights.

Although the Obama administration is asking a federal appeals court in Washington to reverse that ruling, Klayman argued that the issue was so urgent that the Supreme Court needed to intervene without waiting for the appellate court.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon’s December ruling called the NSA spying program “almost Orwellian.” The agency systematically keeps years of phone records for hundreds of millions of Americans.

Leon ordered the government to stop collecting data on the calls of Klayman and another man, though the judge put the order on hold while the case is on appeal.

The Obama administration didn’t respond to Klayman’s request, and the high court didn’t ask for a reply. The Supreme Court rarely takes up cases that haven’t first been considered at an intermediate appellate level.”

Supreme Court Won’t Hear Case on Gay Wedding Snub – Christian Photographers Forced to Pay $6,837 Fine

As reported here in 2008, The New Mexico Human Rights Court sentenced Christian photographer Elaine Huguenin, owner of Elane Photography, a fine of $6,637.94 for refusing to photograph a gay commitment ceremony.

Today the US Supreme Court announced it will not hear a case on whther a New Mexico wedding photographer was within her rights when she refused to work at a same-sex ceremony. The penalty stands.
    USA Today reported:

The Supreme Court declined Monday to decide if a New Mexico wedding photographer was within her rights when she refused to work at a same-sex ceremony.

The denial leaves standing a decision by the state’s highest court that went against the photo studio — although the local dispute has been long since rendered moot.

The case would have posed an important constitutional question with potentially sweeping implications: whether merchants whose products are inherently expressive must serve customers even when it conflicts with their beliefs.

That could include marketers, advertisers, publicists, website designers, writers, videographers and photographers — and perhaps others.

With the gay marriage movement winning legal battles state by state, the case could have been one of the most important of the court’s next term.

The case featured Elaine Huguenin and her husband Jonathan, whose Albuquerque photo studio informed Vanessa Willock and Misti Collinsworth in 2006 that it only worked “traditional weddings.”

Willock and Collinsworth had no trouble finding another photographer for their September 2007 ceremony. But Willock filed a complaint against Elane Photography with the New Mexico Human Rights Commission, charging that the snub violated the state’s anti-discrimination law. Twenty other states have similar laws.

There doesn’t seem to be a day that passes thhhat the QUEER BASTARDS aren’t trying to ram their agenda down other people’s throats. In California in the 1950s “OPEN SEASON” was often declared on queers by the military. Many of the SEXUAL DEVIATES sufferred hellacious facial, and body injuries. Much of this was perpetrated by the Marine Corps people then stationed @ Camp Pendleton Cal. There was also some participation of a few Navy personell,as well. When the whole thing finally came to a screeching halt about 15 Marines, and a couple of non coms, were in the Pendleton Stockade, along with about 7 Navy personell…..also a couple of petty officers as well. One of them as I remember had almost 16 years in. I heard later that he was given a UD discharge. Really sad! But I can understand the resentment of all of them towards these SICK TWISTED A##HOLES. It seemed as though if you walked 50 feet from the main gate you would receive at least 50 propositions from QUEERS. I don’t know too many people who would put up with that sort of thing without being driven to extreme anger. Now the sick twisted bastards are using the courts, and laws to aid in doing their crap to innocent people like the CEO of Mozilla. I look for it to turn into another OPEN SEASON,but it won’t be entirely FISTS this time.+
They will just start to disappear, and nobody will ever see them again. It won’t be me but this is what I expect will happen, literally EVERYWHERE!

Maher: ‘There is a Gay Mafia’ …Cross Them, Get Whacked

Bill Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher made a surprising admission during the online-only “Overtime” segment of his show Friday:

I think there is a gay mafia. I think if you cross them, you do get whacked.

Maher was reacting to a discussion with his panelists over the Mozilla affair. His statement came just after Carrie Sheffield of Forbes questioned the fairness of the backlash against the company’s CEO for donating $1,000 to Prop 8 in 2008 at the same time President Obama was against same-sex marriage.

    Sheffield said:

Well, and he gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage. So, I don’t think it’s very fair.

    Maher agreed:

Good point. Also, I think there is a gay mafia. I think if you cross them, you do get whacked. I really do.

  11. Al Sharpton’s Secret Work As FBI Informant

APRIL 7–When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant.

That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted with a recording device……..The former mob snitch has become a regular in the White House, where he has met with the 44th president in the East Room, the Roosevelt Room, and the Oval Office. He has also attended Obama Christmas parties, speeches, policy announcements, and even watched a Super Bowl with the First Family (an evening the man has called “one of the highlights of my life”). During these gatherings, he has mingled with cabinet members, top Obama aides, military leaders, business executives, and members of Congress. His former confederates were a decidedly dicier lot: ex-convicts, extortionists, heroin traffickers, and mob henchmen. The man’s surreptitious recordings, FBI records show, aided his government handlers in the successful targeting of powerful Mafia figures with nicknames like Benny Eggs, Chin, Fritzy, Corky, and Baldy Dom…………Genovese squad investigators–representing both the FBI and NYPD–recalled how Sharpton, now 59, deftly extracted information from wiseguys. In fact, one Gambino crime family figure became so comfortable with the protest leader that he spoke openly–during ten wired face-to-face meetings–about a wide range of mob business, from shylocking and extortions to death threats and the sanity of Vincent “Chin” Gigante, the Genovese boss who long feigned mental illness in a bid to deflect law enforcement scrutiny. As the mafioso expounded on these topics, Sharpton’s briefcase–a specially customized Hartman model–recorded his every word.

  17. Sue,
It’s a pleasure. I often tell people to take the time to look at history, you will quickly find interesting events that are similar to today. Many things change, but ‘people’ remain a constant. The homosexuals have been a ‘moving force’ for politics for a very long time, even back to ancient greece. They are a small, but vocal and politically active group. The NAZI’s leadership, short of Adolf Hitler, were predominately non-christian and homosexual until the night of the long knives. I don’t like Bill Mayer, but he is right about the ‘homosexual’ mafia.

I still haven’t figured out why feminists and homosexuals are promoting Muslims and Islam yet. You can’t have one with the other. However, all of America’s enemies the last 40 years have been fond of the democratic party.

Your consternation regarding why females are attracted to MUSLIM males. That is for 2 very basic reasons. 1st. Our younger females think that Muslims are C-O-O-L, (IN THEIR OWN WORDS), and 2nd, Muslims have no compunction about who,or what they have sex with. In addition the MUSLIM is basically a LIAR,and will lie about anything to acheive an end.

  27. Next Obamacare Challenge: Consumer Confusion on Costs, Penalties

Now that the Obamacare enrollment deadline has come and gone, the administration is bracing for the next challenge: confounded consumers.

“If there’s been a failing with the Obama administration [communication], it’s the failure to adequately plan for that kind of extensive, repeated interaction with people at the community level,” University of Minnesota health politics expert Larry Jacobs told Politico. “Successful outreach doesn’t depend on just one jingle. It’s repeated and unceasing outreach at multiple levels.”

More than half of the 40 million uninsured Americans – 6 in 10 – are unaware there was a March 31 deadline to sign up for coverage, and half of those without coverage said they planned to remain uninsured, according to a March Kaiser Family Foundation poll. According to Politico, those surveyed didn’t realize that if they missed the deadline, there is no opportunity to enroll until November.

“It’s going to be a shock, and we are going to be fielding a lot of calls,” Michael Mahoney, a senior vice president with online insurance broker GoHealth, told Politico. “But there’s not much you can do to help.”

Americans are also overwhelmingly ignorant of the costs involved – premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums – and 4 in 10 don’t know there’s financial assistance available, Politico reports.

Ditto for the penalty provision — $95 or 1 percent of a person’s income — increasing to $695 or 2.5 percent of income in 2016. And premiums will likely rise drastically next year.

The Boston Globe’s Jeff Jacoby has characterized Obamacare as “Democrats’ albatross” and opines that the implementation of the president’s signature piece of legislation will only lead to further erosion of the public trust.

“By its proponents’ own empirical benchmarks, Obamacare has been a debacle,” Jacoby wrote in a March 27 column. “The rosy promises about no one being forced to change doctors or health plans have been ditched. So has the enticing prospect of $2,500 premium reductions for every family. Instead, the ‘Affordable’ Care Act in most states is driving up underlying premiums, even doubling them in some parts of the country.

“Four years of Obamacare have shown what arrogance, deception, and top-down control can accomplish. No wonder voters want to see if Republicans can do better.”

As more are disgusted by their future of lack of health care and bankruptcy paying for it Obama will more than likely be forced to urgently show his true colors which will be more force and totalitarian control of people….of course under the cover “for their best interests”.

  28. Muslims Force Gay Teacher to Quit

The left’s rainbow coalition has a problem. But the left deals with it by ignoring it. The same people fuming over Eich, won’t talk about this.

A gay assistant head teacher has been forced to resign after Muslim parents complained that they did not want their children learning that it’s OK to be homosexual.
The dispute at Birmingham’s Chilwell Croft Academy, which mainly involved Muslim parents, is the latest controversy surrounding a secular state school in the city.

Liam Nolan, the high- profile gay head teacher at Perry Beeches Academy in Birmingham, told the Sunday Times he had been ‘incredibly shocked that an assistant head teacher who was doing incredible work around relationship education had been intimidated by a small group of what are being seen as extremists in the city’.

He added: ‘The Muslim community is being allowed to influence government legislation around equality.’

In a statement, the school added: ‘A minority group of parents . . . objected to some of the resource books being used in literacy lessons with some of the oldest children in the school, which explored relationships in different families.

‘The . . . objections were primarily voiced by those whose own religion took an opposing stance to homosexuality.’

And which religion might that be? There’s just no way to know.

This is happening in the UK rather than the US, but it’s only a matter of time until with enough immigration from the Muslim world, we catch up to them. And then the left will have some tough choices to make.

So the UK’s stupid “tolerance” policies/laws have come back to bite them. That’s what happens when you attempt to force some utopian tolerant bubble that encloses groups that won’t tolerate each other….esp. when some of those groups promise violent reactions. IOW, complete stupidity/insanity are the result….as well as chaos.

So will a Muslim cake baker sometime in the future in the U.S. also be fined $7000 if he refuses servicing gay couples because of his so called “religion”? Somehow I have my doubts.

  29. Boy oh boy….sorry I missed this exchange. Holder should have been asked if he was threatening members of Congress during their legitimate functions….that if so they could impeach his sorry____________(fill in the blank)!

Perhaps if they keep the pressure on they could cause another “stress” health “interruption”…..due of course to his own crimes, not solely the pressure.

  42. GAME CHANGER !!!

    [link to]

The most important political development in 200 years was triggered last week, when the state legislature of Michigan became the 34 th state to demand a “Constitutional Convention” in the United States. Under Article 5 of the US Constitution, if 2/3rds of the states call for such a convention, (meaning 34 states) it MUST take place. During such a convention, the ENTIRE Constitution can be changed; nothing is off-limits.

This would even allow the States to dismantle the federal government without its consent, and repudiate the debt which that government has incurred! When it voted for the convention last week, Michigan became the 34 th state, thus meeting the requirement.

A goal has been reached behind what would be an unprecedented effort to amend the U.S. Constitution, through a little-known provision that gives states rather than Congress the power to initiate changes. This is the most significant political development in the entire world in the last 200 years.
The BIG question now is WHEN?

  43. RMinNC, it is a game changer but in many ways I wonder how they would change it . Do you trust any administration to restore law, honor and responsibility?
